If you nerf Looping, you will just create more holding W. Because if Survivors cannot Loop, they just have to run in a straight line, because nothing else can be done.
And as I said, I think every Killer player should be able to play Shack. This is pretty much the Basics that should be learned. Shack is a strong, but fair tile.
This falls under the flimsy ideology that the game is either loop or hold W. This faulty premise entirely throws juking the killer with stealth or evasion out the window, which I am glad to see is making a comeback with new Haddonfield.
Shack is not mind-gameable to a Survivor with a brain. There is no secret tech. Survivor can literally see your red stain all over the place, and you are visible through the cracks of the structure, which exist exclusively to benefit the Survivor. You stand at one of the four corners, then make the right left/right play as the Killer comes. If he gains distance, you window. You get three of these for free, and then a fourth run where you drop a non-mind-gemeable pallet. Such skill. Much excite. Wow.
It is not nearly as exciting or interactive as people pretend it is if the Survivor doesn't try something dumb. As long as the killer isn't someone like Artist, you are fine here.
The breakable wall levels that stupid playing field, closing the gap between M1 killers and "Ha ha screw your game mechanics" Nurses.

Slugging, camping, tunneling, idc about these tactics, I was just pointing them out because you asked, lol
Camping, slugging, and tunnelling is not "meta".
These are just words people came up with to describe ways killers take survivors out of the game.

Cool. So if the terror radius just started playing, I know for a fact I can finish my heal because I'm already half done when I started and with a 32m terror radius and a 4.6/m second speed at BEST he can get here in about 7 seconds, assuming a perfect straight line.

Killers were able to play Shack way before Dead Dawg was released. If you are not able to play Shack, you should improve instead of relying on a cheap Wall-Break to make it easy for you.
Nah, that is a cheap excuse just to try to empower looping as a game mechanic. You can get one free loop. If a Killer wants to use a breakable wall to cut that short, he should be able to.

A good way to put the power of Dead Hard into perspective is this:
Make note of when you swing at a Survivor that 100% would have gone down if they did not Dead Hard.
NOW, start a timer. Use Alexa, have a clock next to you, or count out loud or in your head. See how many seconds it takes before that Survivor goes down again.
Got that number?
That is how much time Dead Hard bought the entire Survivor team that game.
Now do that again every single time Dead Hard is used in a match.
Absolutely no Killer perk in the game has that much power. None. Zero. It's asinine.

I don't think it's necessarily a strength issue people are having. It's more of a "holy **** I'm mending for the 5th time in less than 5 minutes and I want to move on" type thing.
If the Legion is hitting you 5 times in 5 minutes your entire time is atrociously bad and this is no longer about Mending.

Make all killer regression perks jolt level but pop, and you’ll see pop 100% of matches also
That is implying every single game has a regression perk, which it doesn't.
So, no. I don't believe you at all.
You are trying to create the faulty premise that the six meta perks everyone runs are the only perks worth running and that is just flat out untrue.

It is the default meta perk I am guaranteed to see in every game. Every other meta perk MIGHT not appear, but that one 100% will. So if you wanna uproot it, you gotta top it.

First of all, I understand not everyone has the availability to play all the time. This is just an idea to make red ranks harder to get and harder to maintain. Because right now, grades don't really reflect on your skill, they reflect on how much you play. You can play for 4 days right after the reset, and get to red 1 (which i have done in the past a few times). Also, losing more pips for underperforming ( in higher ranks ) would make it harder to get up to said high ranks and actually make those ranks mean something. Btw i know the hidden ranks on the post-match scoreboard are likely permanent.
That is like 80 pips. That is an insane amount of winning gameplay to reach in 4 days.

If you cannot run Shack as Killer, this is a "You-Problem". The Dead Dawg-Shack should get rid of the breakable Wall (and be made smaller, because it is a little bit bigger than regular Shack).
And why exactly should the breakable wall go away? Is there any good reason to, other than because Survivors want their three window loop?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
IMO the crying about breakable Walls is way too much. They are not that much of a problem, some Walls suck (e.g. that Dead Dawg is full of them, there should not be a Breakable Wall at shack and they should all be removed from The Game).
But some are pretty good. e.g. the one on Ironworks of Misery, this gives the Main Building a purpose. After they removed the God Window (rightfully), the Main Building hat nothing, it was a Deathtrap. With the breakable Wall upstairs, there is at least something to work with, but it cannot be used more than once, since it becomes weak when the Wall is broken.
They will certainly not go away at any point. I am not the biggest fan of them and some of them really suck, but it is not like a Killer player will lose a game because they need to break a Wall.
No, EVERY shack should have that breakable wall. Not JUST Dead Dawg.
A structure called "The Killer Shack" should not be one of the most Survivor sided structures in the game.

To be fair, at least some of those were cheaters who have been banned, which IS good.
That said, DBD needs this Anniversary to be B I G.
For all of our sakes, I hope they pull it off.
This.
And it will have nothing to do with the Killer.
We need a huge QoL update to the game that addresses all the unfun aspects. We need console optimization, better anti-cheat, map balancing, add on passes, new features, etc.
I am worried we are going to get Forgettable Killer #12, new Survivor I will play just long enough to get their Adepts, and a handful of perks that will not disrupt anything in the current meta.
Will we get any of that? Probably not.
But I have cake to look forward to.

@dugman said:
Just FYI they also did a massive ban wave last week. Not sure how many people it impacted but if only a few percent of people playing were cheating and got banned that would be a few percent of the concurrent players on average drop right there.
This is actually a pretty insightful point. And since BHVR will not release those numbers (nor should they), we have no way of knowing how many were in that number.
Good call.

Survivors need to get out of this mentality that you need to find all five totems.
You don't.
You need to find ONE totem.

Agreed on all points. Blight is a disgusting lawnmower that somehow laughs his way to the bank with some of the most broken add ons in the game while Toy Sword and Marvin's blood get kicked in the junk. Nurse straight up IGNORES maps. Every map is a Nurse map.
Balanced Landing is the most RNG dependent perk in the game. Did you go to Shelter Woods? Have fun using that falling down the basement stairs!

Whether you know they have it or not, you could've chased someone else. Tunneling is 95% of the times a conscious choice made by the killer. (yes, I made up 95% so don't get stuck on the percentage. the point is it's more often intentional than not) If you end up in a situation where you eat a DS or decide whether to wait out someone jumping in a locker, you put yourself in that situation
Actually. The majority of my DS's tend to come from someone that happened to cross my path like 48 seconds later, and I confused the Mikaela in the red shirt for the Meg in the red shirt, and didn't realize it was still i the same minute as my last unhook after the flashbang went off and the Tinkerer is getting loud, and the crowd just landed, and okay that guy has a flashlight and -

noun
- an implicit agreement among the members of a society to cooperate for social benefits
For example: Agreeing to NOT DC like a baby, because it ruins the game for others. They make the same agreement so that your own game is not ruined by THEM DCing.
How are people unable to understand this? Social contracts are not someting you sign. They are an agreement.
Kind of like the social contract to not murder each other because it would make the victim's family sad.
Or to obey traffic laws because that's safer for the complete strangers in the cars around you. Unless you folks are telling me you'd slam into other cars, speed, run over foot traffic, and run red lights if the law did not prohibit it? Because you don't believe in social contracts?

Just feels like slamming your head against the wall
Now that you are absolutely correct about. It's extremely frustrating. I'm loathe to give any more money to BHVR because of how many things they've failed to follow through with on console. I bought an external SSD for my PS4 Pro to fix the issues that the Resident Evil chapter brought with it. I'm still kinda ticked I had to do that, spending that kind of money to play one game. (Not to get cool new stuff for a game, but to play what I already paid to play.) So, I think that's sort of where the line got drawn. I'm more likely to quit playing the game entirely than to spend any more on new hardware just for DbD. (All my other PS4 games run beautifully, so yeah, going to PS5 would be specifically for DbD.) Spending more money on DbD would be like betting on this game to improve, and... well, I'm neither an optimist nor a gambler.
I'm willing to purchase the game on PC if there's cross-progression with either of the platforms I already own, but that's about it.
Anyway, that's my own personal nonsense. Everyone has their own reasons for sticking with their current platform.
I assume the default answer is "Because a PS5 is ungodly expensive", which is fair. I just think mods saying "Don't question it" doesn't actually answer the underlying issues.
I know Patrick said something about a minimum number of milliseconds of ping, or... whatever that tech jargon was, but I am not sure if they are ever going to reach that point.

I own it on PS4 and Switch. It only just released on Switch in 2019 and there is no new Nintendo console to replace the Switch. Switch was supposed to have cross-progression with PC like a year ago, which I would have taken advantage of had that actually happened, but it didn't (and there's nothing I can do about it). Not that any of that matters, because:

And what should players do during those five years while we wait for optimization to happen? Just... not play? Actually, I'd like that; I've been avoiding playing, so it'd be a warm fuzzy feeling if other people joined me.
But asking for DS to be usable isn't quite the same thing as asking for a buff. The skill check is not the purpose of the perk. It made sense when DS was just a "haha, screw you for downing me, killer!" perk but now it only works after an unhook and only for 60 seconds and only if the survivor doesn't do any one of a myriad of things to progress the game. The tiny skill check prevents new players and anyone experiencing any performance issues from using DS. That's just unnecessarily blocking a large group of players from being able to get any use out of the perk. Altering the skill check doesn't affect the amount of time during which DS is active, it doesn't affect the crapton of requirements surrounding DS's activation, and it doesn't lengthen the stun. Some of us just want to be able to use DS at all.
Not play?
What a gross over-reaction.
You do not need Decisive Strike to play. I have not ran that perk since it was nerfed.
-
Removing Dead Hard from the game is the first step to rebalancing the game.
Getting a wider variety of Killers at higher MMR starts with shooting this disgusting perk into space.

Sure, ‘if it glows it goes’ has long been the mantra, but with the risk of Haunted Grounds, Retribution and Pentimento in a killer’s arsenal, is it wise to actually break hex totems before the game has informed you of any effects?
Obviously if you see the likes of Ruin, Huntress’s Lullaby or Blood Favor in play you’ll want to start cleansing, but Devour is the only hex that can really be a game-ender out of nowhere.
So long as you mark down any hexes you see and communicate such details with your team if you’re playing in a SWF, does it make more sense to leave them be until you see a hex in play?
Not sure if this has been discussed before at length, but it just popped into my mind.

They are equally as bad, but at least DCing is justified in certain cases, You cant ever justify farming. You wanna get a challenge done? Play the game and get it naturally, instead of throwing a game to get a 30k bloodpoint challenge when you couldve gotten that+ the points from actually playing properly. DCing is justified in certain cases when someone is farming, or someone drops shack pallet at 5 gens.
I was doing the opposite of calling out bans for people who dc, I was saying they need to lower the stupid amount of hours that it can go up to. I cant think of another video game (there obviously are though, but its not common because its stupid) that makes the amount of time go up for each dc. At the least, it should reset every day. Not even competitive games, which dbd is not.
The only time DCing is justified is if you are being held hostage in a game that cannot end.
