  • They’ve pushed updates before with game breaking obvious bugs. This must have been something really bad. I’m guessing MS or Sony didn’t certify the update.

  • @KillermainBTWm8 said:

We also need to remember that BHVR isn't a huge Triple A company that has A TON of resources. That can also contribute to this.

    This lie has to stop.

The DbD team at BHVR might not be big. The budget they are given by BHVR might be small, might not.

But BHVR last sourced has 500 employees. They’re a big developer. Respawn for example has around 300. BHVR might not be mega huge but they aren’t this super small indie team people make them out to be.

  • It had to have failed certification. This build would have been tested and sent in days/weeks ago.

  • If I’m not in the mood to play super sweaty I’ll dodge keys. Or if they swap last second to a key, camp/tunnel them until they die from it.

  • Yes. Frequently on Xbox and almost always for some dumb reason that makes zero sense. I really need to buy one of those Survivor Rulebook things so I can understand what these people are whining about.

  • Do the Archives still come tomorrow?

    1. stay close to their hooks, use their altruism against them
    2. No One Escapes Death
    3. play ez killers
  • Spirit. As far as killers go, she’s ez af to play.

Nothing is as scary as a good Nurse but that takes time to master.

  • I play it on my Scorpio but I also own the PC version and dabble in it.

Frames are not even comparable. Way better on PC. Much quicker loading as well.

  • My favorite part is when you described bloodlusting as simple gameplay requiring no skill, yet you apparently think running from safe pallet to safe pallet requires skill.

  • Well I think you have three types of killers who do it.

Bad/apathetic killers - they don’t know any better. They hook someone, they stay very close, they tunnel. They lose a majority of their games, don’t move up in rank much. Or, they don’t care. They’re ok with losing, they don’t mind using the weaker killers. They play killer for the control.

The “they deserved it” killers - survivors did something to anger them. Could be inconsequential to survivors, but very annoying to killers. For example, if you blind me at pallets you drop, I turn into the You Deserved It killer. Toxic plays, SWF BS, etc.

Game dictates it - survivor mains hate to see this, but there are plenty of times when the game dictates you camp or tunnel. It’s not always boring, it’s not always a bad strategy.

Survivors have a rule book that is 1,200 pages long. What they need to do is add a rule that you do gens if the killer is camping. Killers who camp constantly, see the success they see because of dumb plays by survivors.

Or, and hear me out.. we do BOTH.

Make solo buffed to swf and buff killers to accomodate.

This is a wet dream and not possible. The core of the game is not designed for SWF.

  • Trapper - start with more traps. Reset maps on the ground without picking them up.

Wraith - increase speed after uncloaking. It seems worse than Spirits, which makes no sense.

Doc - increased shock range baseline. Tier 3 madness causes exhaustion baseline.

Clown - more bottles. Intoxicated means slow vault.

All doodoo M1 killers should have Brutal Strength baseline since all they do is eat pallets.

Just the noed picture already tells me you don't get it. Just think 2 steps ahead. Is swf to strong? Yes. Can we nerf then? Not really cuz voicechat >>>> anything else. So what's left? Buff solos and killers to their level. Simple maths it's 1+1.

Oh totes bro, it’s gonna be so simple 1+1 for this dev team that took over a year to rework one killer to basically rework the entire game. Because that’s what all these buffs will require. There’s nothing simple about it.

My guess is what you actually mean is loads of buffs and free info spoon fed to solo players while some killers get some small tweaks.

    Solo survivor isn’t hard.

  • What more can they do to buff solo players without making killer impossible? How much free info do survivors need? I solo queue and hit red rank on both sides consistently and idk how you buff solo survivors without making it even easier to bully killers and escape.

As currently designed, the game doesn’t work with SWF. Chases can last way too long, gens go too fast. The answer can’t be to buff solos to match SWF, killers would stand no chance. And you can’t buff killers to match SWF, then solos really would be screwed. You have to nerf SWF to be more manageable or at bare minimum, incentivize solo/killer play.

I don’t think there’s a balance problem with solos. There’s just doodoo solo survivors.

  • Run Hunch. Power through one gen, cleanse Ruin.

  • Your own post proves your complaint to be false. You claim the devs coddle killers but then say you escape 80-90% of the time in SWF. Doesn’t seem like killers are coddled too much to me based on those numbers.

If you have such a low escape rate solo then no offense, but you’re very boosted by SWF and aren’t very good at the game.

Regarding toxicity, it exists on both sides, but survivors are on a whole different level.

The thing is, map control is not a killer power thing. Map control is the hability to prevent gen and chase multiple survivors, injuring/hooking/killing. Every killer in game (except old freddy) has the ability to patrol gens and to hit survivors, so map control is not imbued onto the Spencer's Last Breath or the Yamaoka's Haunting, people just don't understand killers are different. The reason Nurse and Spirit are so "top tier" is simply because they are mindless to play, you see, you blink, you hit, you see, you blink, you kill. And this is bad for the game (both are balanced) since people wont try different playstyles with the other killers. The trapper, the demogorgon and the hag are territorial killers, so playing them and complaining when you cant patrol gens across the map is DUMB, and saying they are weak because you dont 4k 5 gen every time makes no sense. Aside from the 2 incredibly underpowered killers (bubba and Wraith), all killers can play very decent games against decent players.

Sure, every killer in the game CAN apply map pressure. Depending on the map. And the survivors. But the fact of the matter is a majority of the killers are very weak when it comes to map pressure and controlling a chase. The maps are designed to give the survivors numerous avenues to extend chases far beyond what they should be able to given the time it takes to do gens. And no, Spirit and Nurse aren't popular and top tier because they're "mindless" or easy to use, they're top tier because they are second to none when it comes to ending chases. That's how you apply map pressure as a killer, you have survivors down or hooked, forcing other survivors to make choices and extend the game. You also have high mobility killers like Billy or Fred with his teleport. Much better at applying map pressure than someone like Trapper or Wraith or Bubba or Plague or Legion etc etc.

The Clown is the killer the person you quoted was mentioning, and he's a great example of how a killer power affects map pressure. His power is worthless for map pressure. All he can do is potentially end chases faster, though it rarely works out that way thanks to the abundance of pallets and vaults survivors have. With good add-ons he can end chases faster and help his map pressure some, but it's still extremely weak. And while you're chasing one survivor through the middle building on Crotus Penn, eating pallets and hopping windows, the other survivors are powering through the gens. "but but, just abandon the chase!" Yeah, and waste time. You aren't applying map pressure that way. You're trading one survivor not on gens for another. And sure, sometimes that survivor is worse, and you can draw the stronger survivor out to make a save, but this all takes a lot of time, time you don't have as killer.

It's not hard at all to knock out give gens as survivor. I hit rank 1 every season on both, as do many others here. The game is not balanced to handle four above average survivors against most of the killers in the game. If you take these killers you don't rely on your skill to win, you rely on survivors making mistakes. There's nothing wrong with taking NOED into these games with these doodoo killers on the off chance all the gens get done and they didn't cleanse all the totems. At that point survivors only have themselves to blame and the killer hasn't even lost the match yet.

I play from 6 to 9 every night after work and chores...

    I consider myself a casual.

Three hours a day and posting on the games forum is not a casual player.

Because the Devs said so... lol

I don't think you guys even know what casual means. You are likely a casual. How many hours a day do you play? If it's 3 or less then you are a casual. If it's more than 3 you likely don't have any responsibilities yet.

3 hours a day is casual, yikes. I think you’re the one who doesn’t know what casual means.

  • @Endstille said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/761750#Comment_761750

Maybe because casual players are an important part of the playerbase?

But yeah scam the casuals, so you they leave and you end up with a playerbase of 500 over several continents. Nice idea!

You’re talking about an optional battle pass system, not something integral to the core of the game. If someone new is going to quit playing DbD it will be for the large amount of bugs, crappy dedicated servers, abysmal console performance, crap matchmaking, or unbalanced gameplay. It won’t be because a battle pass didn’t give them all the sweet skins.

If BHVR said it will be balanced for filthy casuals (joking), then maybe we should wait for it to actually release before being upset?

  • Why should casual players be able to finish it?

  • If you get unhooked and go out of your way to make me proc your DS, I will tunnel and kill you. If not I’ll let you DS me and go on about your day.

But in red ranks 90% of the DS I eat tend to be annoying twats trying to make cool videos and/or DS + Head On combo stun.

  • Only way I can think to get it is to sandbag your teammates when there’s one gen left and leave them to die on hook while you have the last gen almost done.

Its really only a problem because of EGC. Killer closes hatch and your gen is 99% done... oh well better luck next time.

But the Huntress hatchet one was worse. Down like 100 survivors from 20+ meters or something? They changed it to 20 survivors iirc. I got it when it was 100. The protect 250 survivors or whatever is worse too.

  • Yep pretty much sums up why Plague is doodoo.

  • Believing that NOED rewards killer failure is as naive as believing DS is an anti-tunnel perk.

People forget that most killer characters in this game are garbage and that map RNG exists. If I could play Nurse on Crotus Penn or Spirit on Autohaven every match then cool, I’ll never use NOED again.

Unfortunately though I enjoy using killers like Trapper, Clown, Bubba, and Plague. M1 killers who are pure doodoo against great survivors. I had a Trapper game on a swamp map earlier and before I could even get to my Ruin to trap it, two survivors spawned on it and one cleansed it. So I fail if survivors pop all the gens here? Seems like it’s inevitable to me, unless the survivors are just potatoes.

Hell on a lot of maps are Trapper or sometimes Hag you can have two gens popped before you even finish trapping the map up, worse if you don’t run Corrupt or Ruin.

Anti-NOED nonsense is almost always just salt from ignorant survivor mains who are upset that they died to it.

Optimal survivors are the players who have played this game for quite some time and understand the game extremely well. They also make sure to optimize everything extremely well, they can optimize pallet loops by taking longer to throw the pallet, optimize wasting the killer's time, and optimize the gens. An optimal team can finish a match in 5-7 minutes if done correctly. At no point do optimal teams go out of their way to do totems (unless there's ruin, but even then, they can do a great job on skillchecks where it doesn't even matter). Optimal players do not waste time cleansing 5 totems instead of doing generators, that's why killer perks that slow down or delay survivors in any way are the meta ones. The best way to beat optimal survivors is to give them more stuff to waste their time on. If you ednd up wasting time every single game searching for 5 totems (which will set you back 2-3 minutes at least) is not optimal. I'm not saying every player should play like this, but this is the definition of optimal survivors.

Those people are playing optimally in terms of live or die, not how to actually progress in the game. They’ll safety pip and barely crack 12k blood points. Sounds fun.

Perks don’t need to be balanced around these types of players. You’re also making a strong case for NOED as a good perk. If survivors can end a game in 5-7 minutes then there’s zero reason for people to not use NOED on weak killers like uh every M1 killer. At that point you aren’t describing a failure on the killers part you’re describing a poorly balanced game.

The issue I have with noed isn't that it's annoying or makes me mad to go against. I understand that it's preventable. Please note I'm speaking about this from the perspective of optimal players. It isn't optimal to search the entire map for totems instead of doing generators, and newer players have issues finding generators let alone totems. The only issue I have with the perk is that it teaches killers bad habits to think "Oh I shouldn't worry if they get all the generators done, I'll just use NOED." I believe that both killers and survivors need to think and play optimally, which NOED directly negates. The perk itself isn't a bad one, it's the message it sends to all other players. That's why I compared it to Mettle, since it rewarded survivors to be found and hit, which teaches bad habits.

An optimal survivor play style includes either a perk to secure totems or totem hunting itself. It’s not hard at all to find and take out five totems. I solo queue as survivor and make it my mission to cleanse totems. I rarely come across NOED and routinely finish atop the survivor scoreboard in my matches or very near it.

Your idea of optimal sounds like it’s spawn, hammer out gens, leave. That’s only optimal in terms of live or die. It doesn’t get you optimal bloodpoints or emblem progress.

  • The only failure NOED rewards is the failure of survivors doing totems.

  • I’ve been using him at rank 1 with PWYF and two speed add-ons. Survivors will grossly underestimate how safe they are from an insta down. But yeah against good survivors he’s easily one of the weaker killers. Zero map pressure, zero chase ending mechanics.

With Trapper Corrupt Intervention is definetly better than Ruin imo.

I’ll take a perk that might last 30 seconds but can sometimes last minutes or half the match versus a perk that works for two.

  • @White_Owl said:

Killers are too, TOO dependent on this perk, especially m1 killers.

That's not true, there are many valid alternatives to Ruin, most killers are just too lazy to use them.

There might be other perks some of the more mobile killers can use but most of the M1 killers are wasting time in red ranks playing without Ruin.

For example I love Trapper. By the time I’ve set up traps, two or three gens will pop without Ruin. If I’m Wraith by the time one chase is done, I’m down at least two gens unless the survivor is a potato. Same with others like Bubba and Clown. Plague. The reason more mobile killers are more popular is they can end chases quickly and apply pressure. M1 killers have no map pressure.

  • Should be disabled, sounds are bugged on it

  • Let me rebuke your rebuttals.

    1) you pay $10, so anything you get from this isn't free, unless you literally only do the free tier. In which case, yes, it's free cosmetics. But even if you do the paid one, you're being rewarded just for playing the game. You're getting cosmetics and blood points and whatever the rift shards are used for. Free? No. Highly rewarding? Yes.

    2) you do earn your money back. Don't nitpick and point out that the money you spent on the cells is gone. You spend money on cells, you spend those cells, you can get those cells back. You can literally just change "money" to "cells" here and the argument is just fine.

    3) You're saying a mental trigger to buy cosmetics affects gameplay? It doesn't affect gameplay. They're all cosmetics. What DOES affect gameplay are the challenges you complete to unlock levels on the pass. But those will affect gameplay in a positive manner, forcing people to use specific characters and perks and forcing safe unhooks.

    4) this is another area where your explanation is unrelated to the topic. Your answer to "don't like, don't buy" is "well but some people won't be able to not buy!" that doesn't really matter or address anything. That's no different than releasing new chapters or cosmetics. At least now these people have a $10 option to unlock a lot of cosmetics as opposed to $10 for one outfit. Seems the pass will greatly benefit the people you're describing.

    5) the problem with looking at profits or revenue as a whole is that the real world doesn't work that way. It's like when people say Microsoft should just buy Nintendo or something because they have tens of billions of dollars. Or to relate it closer to DbD, that BHVR has hundreds of employees, so DbD should be updated and everything much faster. Different projects have different teams. Whatever BHVR has in the bank, it doesn't mean that money is available for the DbD team.

    6) yes? You just explained how the BP system works in every game. You might grind enough to unlock everything. You might not. I've bought two Apex battlepasses and not come even close to unlocking everything. It's fine. People understand just fine what they are getting into.

    7) yes and no. Fixing core issues is badly needed and will help retain already dedicated players, but it doesn't do much for growing the userbase. Casual stuff like a battle pass and popular licensed content will. Plus, it's not like they can't do both.

The BP is a great way to reward hardcore players who typically grind away for nothing.

  • Meta on killer side doesn’t leave much room for variety unless you’re just doing completely gimmick builds.

Ironically, in my opinion, Detective's Hunch isn't that good for totems when you have Small Game that can tell you where they are on the go. :(

I think Detective's Hunch should reveal everything for a longer duration, or give it the Dark Sense treatment where it activates whenever a generator is completed — not when you complete a generator.

Tier 3 can cover huge chunks of maps. And I make sure to do a gen in an uncovered area after I pop the first one just so I get them all.

But tbh I don’t even need to run either lately. Is not hard to get all the totems, other survivors do more totems now because of increased points and new perks, and killers are running NOED less it seems.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/740989#Comment_740989

I think you are refusing to be reasonable. I don't have infinite maps to find totems every single match and I'm not going to bring small game every match. I'm saying that cleansing totems IS NOT EASY in solo survivor. Not saying it is impossible or anything. If you think it is easy for 4 solo survivors to easily cleanse totems and have enough time to do gens, especially against the stronger killers, you are the entitled one. I'm done saying the same things over and over, if you still think it it is easy then fine, I don't have anything to say to you anymore.

    Yeah because this is reasonable:

    ”Perk A sux!”

”Hello friend. Use these perks to render Perk A useless!”

”UH WHAT i ain’t changing my perks just to counter something #########??/?”

    😆

You keep harping on this idea that totem hunting is impossible against super good killers who end chases quick. Ignoring that most killers are weak M1 killers, and that a dominant Spirit or Nurse is going to curb stomp you anyway.

Also it’s not hard to totem hunt solo. I literally just explained to you how I do it routinely.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/739745#Comment_739745

I'm not going to bring items or perks every match to cleanse totems.

Noed isn't really a risky perk to run at all. I used it before and survivors only cleansed 5 totems once or twice. Cleansing 5 totems will never be easy in solo survivor without you bringing maps or perks every game. Just give survivors a totem counter and most issues with noed will be gone.

I think you’re just trolling. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you aren’t sitting here crying about NOED and simultaneously refusing to learn to counter it.

Because otherwise you’re just displaying the typical entitled survivor mentality. You can’t adapt so please BHVR, spoon feed me information. Adorable

  • The survivor equivalent of NOED is Adrenaline. While NOED can be countered by doing totems, Adrenaline has no counter.

  • “These other M1 killers have huge flaws, let’s make this one weaker too!”

  • Ruin, PWYF, BBQ, Bamboozle. For add-ons run Knife Scratches and Beasts Marks.

Build PWYF stacks and get ez chainsaw downs.

  • Nice list. Just quickly reacting, I’d move Monitor and Sloppy into B tier but a solid list overall.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/739169#Comment_739169

How is it weak? You basically refuse to understand what I'm saying at this point.

    Which totem perks?

Small Game and Hunch. I exclusively play solo and if I’m seeing NOED a bunch, I throw on Hunch and it makes totem breaking a cinch. But typically even without the perks, it’s not hard to be proactive with totems, even against the quicker killers.

I understand what you’re saying just fine. It’s just a weak excuse.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/739121#Comment_739121

No, there is an excuse. If you can barely get gens done in time then cleansing totems equals not doing gens in time.

Yep that’s certainly an excuse you got there, and a weak one at that.

    Have you tried totem perks?

  • I camp and hard tunnel anyone with a key.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/739106#Comment_739106

How doesn't the killer make a difference? Nurse and spirit can end chases in like 20 seconds. You don't have time for totems when you can barely get gens done in time.

If the killer poops on you and you don’t get gens done then NOED is irrelevant. If you get the gens done against those Nurse and Spirit killers then you have no excuse for not getting totems done.

Of course, you’re also talking about only 2 out of 17 or whatever killers.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/738695#Comment_738695

It isn't against strong killers at all. Noed never even gets disabled in like 95% of the matches.

Uh.. what? Why does the killer make any difference? Survivors are either going to cleanse totems or they aren’t.

If you get the gens done, you can get totems done.

  • @GuyNamedPubert said:

Ah, so many toxic killer mains here.

Ok, lets put this into play...

You solo queue into a survivor game with a random team, you don't know if they good or bad players, you just know they the same rank as you. You spawn in and start working on a gen, killer has ruin so you decided as the good player you are, you go look for ruin and other totems of sources. While looking, the killer gets into a chase with you, and you are unable to get any totems cleanse because you being chased. None of your teams worry about getting the totems and you can't do anything because you are getting chased. Final gen pops and you hope your team gets the gates open as you run the killer around. But wouldn't you know, the killer has NOED and everyone dies because no totems were cleansed, this was the only time everyone got hooked because the killer just isn't good enough to get anyone until now.

So don't tell someone to "just cleanse" because stuff like getting chased and bad teammates happen.

This is nonsense. A killer who is not good enough to get a single hook all game doesn’t suddenly become unstoppable just because of NOED lol.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 16
