Hey, I haven't seen you in a while hailxsatanxeveryxday, how's it going?

@HarryMasonEnjoyer said:
i can't really see them changing it to specifically work with another perk, the point of no mither is that you go down in one hit and dead hard just kind of negates that so i'm not a big fan of this as someone who runs it basically every game
I feel like this would make for a good exception, survivor gameplay could use some interesting perk interactions aside from minor stat boost.
-
The fact that you have somehow managed to cram economic politics into a discussion about Dead by Daylight killer balance is beyond me.
-
They just refuse to give Billy anything, and if I didn't know any better, I'd say it's cause they want players to buy Leatherface.
-
Can you edit your comment to break up the paragraphs, you don't have to do it much, just hit enter every 4-6 sentences because I really struggled to read this.
But anyways, I think I agree with what your saying, I don't like that killers and survivors are starting to play different games, with survivors using perks to cover their basekit weakness, and killers using dirty strategies to cover for their basekit weaknesses, Dead hard should've stayed how it was, and some number tweaks on a couple dozen survivor perks to buff weaker ones and nerf stronger ones would've been nice. But at this point, it's pretty obvious that Behavior will continue to run their borderline pay to win perk system. So we can only hope that killers can get some help in the perk department, and some nerfs in the tunnel/camp department.

I would vouch for this...
If gen speed perks and items were killed along with it.
Making games take a little longer than 4 minutes would probably be a good thing.
Of course that would go along with the general killer buffs.

This is not a party game regardless of how much you repeat that to yourself.
Then what is it then?
@Sava18 said:
Nope. I don't care what's done about tunneling obviously because I am a blight main. But if I had to play survivor against a clown that was so stat-stick buffed he was A tier I would not be happy. Many other killers would simply just be atrocious to play against if they could 12 hook against similar skill level players without tunneling.
What's the alternative then? On top of being terrible to play against he'd also not even let you experience the sub-par chase?
@DemonDaddy said:
Might just be me, but I never want to have 100% safety while playing survivor. The killer being a constant threat is more engaging than mechanics forcing extra chances after failure.
You're definitely an anomaly, but I'm sure most survivors would like a game where they get 3 chases in and some downtime on gens, also most survivors aren't very good and can't last as long in chase.
-
@Trollinmon said:
Strategy should still be there since you can rotate hooks between 2 players. Even if you go for 12 hooks you can just ignore one player and spread hooks between 3 players.
I can't be the only one that thinks if DBD was mostly just a chase simulator where everyone gets at least 1-2 chases, then the game would be significantly better.
-
@Mystic_Mizu said:
I have to say no to this, this game cannot not be completely balanced around casual players only.
It's a party game though, I don't like the idea of DBD taking itself super seriously and ending up like Apex Legends or Call of Duty.
-
@squbax said:
As you said "if they were brought up to thr le el of being able to 12 hook" there wouldnt need be any reason to tunnel, but doing that last thing is impossible so I wouldn't put too much tought into this scenario.
I mean, Blight/Nurse/Spirit players don't need to tunnel, they can 12 hook, but a lot still do because it's the path of least resistance.

Supposedly, Console is locked on either High or Ultra graphics settings.
BHVR has also told us that lowering those settings wouldn't help.
If that's the case, then it's likely a memory issue, which in that case I don't blame Behavior for being reluctant to fix it.
They can either reduce the amount of clutter on the map, giving consoles an advantage, or make the game look like Roblox-
Ok I take it back, make the game look worse than Roblox.
-
I have a mid tier CPU/GPU with plenty of ram and a fast SSD.
That being said I can't run the game at any settings higher than 1080 Medium graphics without getting dips below 60 fps.
The closest thing to a solution you can realistically get is Behavior lowering the graphically fidelity heavily, I know it sucks because I used to play on console, but the game's development is running at such high speeds that there's no way in hell that even with 3 straight months of development specifically to console optimization, they could deliver on this promise while keeping the graphics good.
-
Yeah this is pretty much exactly why I quit, I used to be super sweaty and enjoyed those kinds of matches, but now I just wish there were extra modes added to the game that are for goofing around in.
It's insane how different the mindset for players going into a match can be, a game can be an absolute stomp for the killer if they crutch on addons and perks, but if the survivors were also bringing the strongest stuff the killer would be stomped. The only solution to a situation like this is a mode where there's literally no E-bragging to be had, and everyone can just check out at any moment without penalty.
-
Because the universal bloodpoint income(UBI) program has been shut down, also op your name really is something.
-
Yeah, I've noticed over time how much the games community has rotted and become far more hostile, I mean the game has always been toxic, but there was a general unity and chillness in the community until ranks, MMR, crossplay, and players improved and made certain perks overbearingly strong (old old ruin, old ruin, dead hard, Balanced landing etc).
-
Yeah that looks like a big problem, the solution is as simple as changing a few class id's so either Behavior will fix this next patch, or it'll be so insignificant that they'll change it in 5 years.
-
I got a good chuckle out of the analogy at the beginning of monkeys on Adderall, but anyways to the main topic, wait- what is the main topic here? Survivor ego's? Monkey's high on Adderall? Game balance?
-
I doubt in the 4 months I've been gone killer overall has become op, you know Nurse and Blight are about 3% of the killer roster?
-

From an economic perspective this makes no sense you want people to see what you have.
@OrangeBear said:
This likely won't happen because it would be a detterent to buying a cosmetic. If the buyer knew that their cosmetic wouldn't be guranteed to be visible to everyone it makes it less appealing.
@leviivel said:
a small issue with this is that it would reduce the value of cosmetics because others can’t see them, this would just be a loss of revenue for BHVR. If you’re really THAT bothered about some shirtless outfits despite horror movies killing off half naked people constantly, i don’t see the thematic issues.
Well I guess this is the line for Behavior then, all for inclusivity of identity and religion unless it loses them money.

In literally every single game online crossplay game ever created, console has always been inferior to pc, I don't say this to offend, but it's just how things will always be.
-
What are you talking about? People never lie on the internet!
-
People crutch way to hard on perks, the ideal version of DBD to me is a game where the perks, addons, and offerings provide very small upsides or carry large downsides.

This is Dead by Daylight 2 stuff. I don't think the core survivor gameplay will ever be that interesting, and I don't think most of the playerbase wants it to be. They like that they spend most of their time sitting on a gen not interacting with the killer. It lets them focus on other things, like talking to friends. Streamers particularly like it.
Not me. I only play DbD for killer these days. Always engaging, even if it can be frustrating at times.
I agree these changes will likely never happen unfortunately, all I can hope is that Behavior either adds official modding support, or adds extra gamemodes.
-
On top of what you said I would remove overheat, and reduce the stun from bumping into objects to 3 seconds.
Missing a chainsaw is punishment enough for misuse of your power, over-heat is over-kill.
-
People will stop complaining about solo queue when survivor becomes fun.
The reason why I've always predominantly stuck to killer is because with survivor you're wasting 3 minutes of m1 holding per 1 minute of fun. completing gens needs to be more interactive, 20 seconds of M1 holding per gen would be fine in exchange for 60 seconds of running around getting parts for your gen and evading the killer.
-
Bitte, danke! Oder ya bitte!
-
DS is absolutely still good, if it received a minor buff of making movement ability based tokens frozen/removed for a few seconds after the stun, DS would be in it's healthiest state.
-
Just another thing to worry about while playing as Survivor, I don't think it'll be that bad, the real issue with it is that it will make Nurse too easy to play.
-
I really struggle when I count the wins, I got like 15 for Blight before I gave up due to the stress, I've probably gotten ones in excess of 50 with Nurse back when I first started getting the hang of her.

As it should be. If you don't like the things people post, don't watch them.
Fair enough, I was just surprised to see a site that big brazenly showing off unpopular opinions.
-
Just beware that the site is in a transition phase from schizo bait to actually normal place, it's greatest strength is also a weakness, that being you can't get banned unless you break American laws.
-
You may have taken the win here, but we will have our revenge once the kill rates drop hard.
-
I like these changes overall, but the add-ons part scares me, she is very clunky at basekit so we may get another Pyramid Head situation where she's strong but feels awkward to play as.
-
Thank god someone is talking about this, I kept getting accidentally gaslight by my friends for weeks that my internet was at fault, but it always happened right before someone died, eventually I screen shared a few games and they realized that I was definitely getting booted.

Something something gen speeds something something regression is needed blah blah blah, everyone sane in this community is a broken record, tunneling isn't fun to face, getting gen rushed isn't fun to face, we need a system that rewards 12 hooking and unhooking/healing other survivors, at this point I don't even feel like I'm writing words, I feel like people just read the first few and instantly know what I'm saying.

At high MMR, all you will find is good teams. And it's a pain to killers.
If you play solo queue, all you will find is stacked killers and bad teammates, it's the nature of the game, if you want to be competitive, then you have to bring the strongest stuff, this means getting a SWF together, or playing Blight/Nurse.

Eh...I'd hesitate to say 'second worst'. Garden is probably the unambiguous worst, but I'd rather see Eyrie than Cowshed or Badham.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3302524#Comment_3302524
I really like the Haddonfield rework. It looks amazing, and outside of a few really obnoxious windows, it plays pretty well on both sides.
I hate how much it changes depending on the killer you choose, I loath playing Huntress on that map with the 20 meter car hitboxes, the lack of lockers at mid, and traversing the map as a 110% killer, but with Nurse, it's like you're where you're meant to be.
-
If you factor in every single killer vs an optimal team then yes it is, but you're forgetting that not every survivor is playing optimally, so you can't say that the game is sided in either direction, also rng tiles and maps can completely change the game. Try playing Nurse in Lery's vs stealthy survivors, literally the worst experience I've ever had playing a video game, now try playing survivor with 3 solo queue teammates vs 4 slowdown Wesker, also a very bad experience.
-
After what they did to Haddonfield, I'm not sure if the map is gonna get much better, they'll probably just turn the map into a giant wasteland, bereft of pallets and with god loops at every corner.

Most people only hate on Haddie because she’s not conventionally attractive. It’s genuinely sad.
People like to look at characters they find attractive, it's why Felix, Kate, Vittorio, and Mikaela are so popular, although it's just a video game so I really don't care.
-
It's just two stubborn fools who refuse to let the other win, yeah it sucks if you're the killer or survivor, but just give up first and go next, you're not being held hostage at all, because at any time you want you can just press the space bar.

Is that person a dev? I'm not familiar with names or anything. If a dev says it then yeah, that's how you'll know.
Beyond that, I play solo q mostly, over halfway to p100 and it's hit or miss. Most games are a loss lately. I have people leaving on first hook, dcing and giving up afk if they get hooked once and yep, we lose. This seems to be happening in my games more and more lately.
When people stay though, it's 50/50 win rate I'd say.
They're a content creator, yeah I don't know if I'm just lucky or what, but I don't lose nearly as often as other people here(Or I just don't notice, I play 50/50 but I'm probably biased towards killer.)

@StarLost said:

Assuming SWF (solo is another thing):
At lower MMRs? Killer is much easier. It's a role that doesn't require coordination and it's objectives are a bit more intuitive.
Intermediate MMR? I'd say that are about the same, but difficult in different ways.
High MMR? I'd say that survivor is a bit easier. Watching Otz doing his HC survivor series was really illuminating regarding how hard a coordinated group can utterly humiliate even a decent killer.
Thank you for seeing the nuance in this discussion, I'm about ready to ditch the forums, I never realized how little people thought about the other side in asymmetrical games.

If to make your example you have to pick one of the weaker killers and place them against the strongest possible opponents, then yeah, generally killers have an easier time than survivors. It's not true 100% of the time, but generally speaking it is.
But by that logic I can flip this around and say that you choosing a situation like a killer with the best gen control perks vs an uncoordinated solo queue team is a strawman, there's obvious nuance here.

You're talking about swf though, whereas Scott is talking about killer vs solo in his video that you linked
I'm generalizing all survivors here because all killers are also being generalized, sure we can draw lines in the sand all day to make massive statements like "killer/survivor OP" but at the end of the day, looking at both roles from an objective standpoint, the amount of RNG going into this makes these discussion completely redundant.
-
@Audiophile said:
Killer is more work but less difficult to win. Survivor is less but much more difficult to win. Killers seem to confuse the concepts of work and difficulty. Killer is like having to manually mow a football field. It takes a long time and a lot of work but it’s an easy task. You will not fail to mow the football field. A killer has to put in the work to find and kill the survivors but he will most likely get a 3-4k.
You're grossly oversimplifying here, you're just not gonna win with Sadako against a good SWF on Badham with strong perks and items, doesn't matter what perks or add-ons you bring.
-
Billy is simply too easy to face, if you remember how intense it was to be constantly harassed by a Billy who was speeding around loops and corner slowly making ground on you, then you'd realize how lame it is to face him now, not really as scary as it was before.
-
Same reason why people hate Nurse, SWF and Nurse are two sides of the same coin, both having pretty much infinite skill ceilings, sure, not all Nurses/SWF's are sweaty, but the ones that are sweaty are dreadful to face.
-
Ok, remove repairing gens then.
