Same with mine. If they tunnel you, they get hit with a 3 second stun. It's that simple.
Yours is really unnecessarily complex in various ways
Better complex than annoying. The devs saw this with Freddy, Nurse, instaheals. Some perks are so strong or weak the only way to put them at the perfect power level is to add complications.

Yours is a little complex, but a cleaner solution than current DS. I think it'd still be nice to not have it trigger on grabs, but with it being 1/3 of the duration while in a locker it'd probably not be necesary to do that.
True. Thanks.
-
1 is fine. 2 is unnecessary but I can see why it would be implemented. 3 I suggest survivors not be able to do gens in chase, because that is just ridiculous.

Well, yours is just like old DS but without a time constraint but instead based on another survivor getting hooked. This still punishes killers who aren't tunneling but run into you without hooking someone, it also makes DS insanely strong in the late game if the killer doesn't get a trade. DS as is doesn't need to be made stronger.
Agreed. His idea is too clunky and would probably be more annoying for both sides. What do you think of mine?
-
Thanks for highlighting "what he really means"
Why should altruistic actions be discouraged?

Um dude. That's like my one but even weaker
What's weak about it? If the killer tunnels you they get hit with a 5 second stun. It's that simple.

That’s why I immediately dodge when I see a key. It doesn’t always work because of chests, but it definitely helps until they get nerfed.
On the topic of keys in chests, why? Survivors can get such a powerful item by just getting lucky. It’s not like the Killer can get a Mori in the middle of the game. Hopefully they get completely removed from chests soon.
Keys don't end the game as early as toolboxes do tbf.

I agree with you on most cases when it comes to survivor and how this game is killer sided. But this perk is a problem.
Lemme know what your idea is pls
Decisive Strike: Timer counts down 3 times as fast while in a locker, healing, or repairing generators. When another survivor is hooked half the remaining timer. While no other survivor is hooked the timer does not tick down while you are in the dying state. While Decisive Strike is active you can't unhook teammates while in the killer's TR.
Reasoning: You are not being tunneled while in a locker, healing, or repairing generators. You are not being tunneled when the killer hooks another survivor. You technically are being tunneled if the killer downs you before hooking another survivor. Here to prevent superhero plays.

EGC is pressure for both sides. There’s no “free pressure” my guy. Both sides have a 2 minute timer, but when a killer does their job in EGC they are penalized by a slowdown that aids survivors with the chance to save their teammate or make it to a gate. are you really not realizing how that’s favorable to a survivor more than a killer? EGC should be straightforward. Bam 2 minute timer thats it. BHVR indirectly penalizes a killer with additional time to survivors for a killer hooking or downing a survivor.
No they're just making sure killers get no free pressure.

It can be abused to be used in an aggressive way when it's meant to be anti tunnel. This change is to maintain it being anti tunnel and non aggressive
My idea is much better for that honestly. This is just a lazy change to make killers happy and make tunneling easier.

What are you talking about “bud?” I said EGC gives survivors a second chance BECAUSE it slows the timer of EGC when a survivor is hooked or dying. I never said anything about it being an aid to a killer. So, let’s assume something else? Bud.
You want egc to give you free pressure though?

It pretty much maintains all of it's strengths. Did you not see that I said that it is activated PERMANENTLY until another survivor is hooked?
Oh that's that. That only reduces the timer though.

Well as stated in the original post, BT having an indicator would actually help against tunneling more then not :P
Yes killers that see a survivor that has no BT on them won't tunnel them. Why again?

I’m sorry, did you miss what I said? EGC having a slowdown because a survivor is hooked or in dying state is a second chance. It wouldn’t be if the timer wasn’t affected or if it sped up considering that would actually put pressure on the survivors.
It's just there so survivors eventually leave. It's not there to aid you any further bud.

You’re opening the wrong book. Survivors and dickriders will come into this and say you’re wrong. This game is pathetic that it’s so heavily favored towards Survivors.
EGC is meant to put pressure on Survivors, but... hooking or putting a survivor into the dying state slows the timer. So this is yet again, another second chance for survivors.
I mean, cmon BHVR. You have insanely large maps, nerf every viable killer, arm survivors with X amount of second chance and speed perks, and then to add fuel to the fire, during EGC the timer is 2 minutes standard with a slowdown per hooked or dying survivor. 🤦🏽♂️ This game. I used to play a lot now I can tolerate maybe 1-2 matches of killer before getting off. And all my friends quit.
Yes adding egc collapse gives survivors a second chance. How again?
-
@NoShinyPony said:
I mean, I'm all for killer buffs and I think this game is heavily favouring survivors, but imho 99%ing exit gates is fine.

-
The reason BT and DS have no indicator is because camping and tunneling aren't fun strategies.
-
Double nerf it. Ok cool. I think it should either be very hard to pull off and very punishing or very easy to pull off and not at all punishing. This is neither.
-
Or...put his traps on his patrol route. Also increase base trap carry. Any more buffs than that and he'd be far too much hell to face.
-
Why do people think games lasting less than 5 minutes is the norm? Properly applying pressure and keeping more than 1 survivor off gens at all times is what the norm should be. I get maps and killers aren't all equal, but that's what meta builds are there for. If you want to win, you might want to play a meta build. Survivors have learned to do it so their fragility can't be exploited, DS, BT, Unbreakable. If you want to play to have fun you must accept the possibility of loss.

Which is why its biased. Their only thought was, "what does our community care about....NEW SURVIVORS!"
When that's not their community.
It may not be the only reason, but it is, as always, the main reason.
And I play both sides. More survivor these days.
Agreed. It probably was the main reason, more new survivors means killers have an easier time so both sides would benefit if newer survivors were welcomed. They probably don't care about veterans at all with this change. As another side effect, their stats will be more accurate but that doesn't really matter because of bad matchmaking and pipping. At least veteran survivors will find matches slightly easier due to the killer emblem change.

...how else can you phrase "unfun for new survivors" and it not be biased?
That's just the thing. That wasn't the only reason for the change, just the only reason they thought their audience would care about.
-
Well at least you all now have proof the devs aren't survivor sided. The survivors are given a fun, skill based feature that is countered easily by skilled killers and a few killers complain about it and it gets removed. Survivor sided devs btw.

As far as I am aware, they called it a "hook tech" so... the name implies they don't see it as an exploit.
But when it came to sitting on the basement stairs to wait out borrowed time or something, no no. Gotta remove killer's collision after 5 seconds if they're on the stairs.
How are the two similar at all?
-
BHVR doesn't really only care about newer players. They are just really bad at writing patch notes. When did Doc get nerfed?
-
Yes I want something that makes his chainsaw only deal one health state, and only to healthy survivors and to compensate he gets severely reduced stun from bumping. Something fun.

@Blueberry said:
I liked all the changed until "While no other survivor is hooked the timer does not tick down while you are in the dying state.".
In its current state if slugged you have 60 seconds for another teammate to get you up. That is an insanely long amount of time for a teammate to come get you so I don't really see a need for that change. If he literally stands there and waits it out he just threw the entire game anyway.
As far as other perks that I think need nerfing on survivor, they are BT and Unbreakable. Basically all the "second chance" perks. They all are just insanely strong in all scenarios with literally zero downsides and asking nothing of them in return for game swinging effects. I think they are unhealthy for the game.
Unbreakable just remove the speed increase on recovery. This will keep it game swinging if you actually need it but the downside being that if that situation doesn't come you wasted a perk slot as it did nothing.
For BT I'd rather it be a trade.
It transfers the hit from the person rescued to the rescuer. This preserves its purpose of protecting the rescued survivor but prevents completely unsafe hook rescues with no consequence.
BT already barely serves its purpose of saving camped survivors. Unbreakable is only obnoxious because of current DS. Solution to the last clause of mine: hook another survivor.
-
@sanki said:
Oh, no! If that comes true, that is a real decisive strike at me.
Well, I actually don't care about it at all.
I don't even use DS. Waste of a perk slot too often for me, I prefer not to troll the killer.

The only killers that can make New Ruin work well against decent survivors are movement based killers, which is ironic, because they didn't need Ruin in the first place. They can keep survivors off gens. to let New Ruin do its thing. How is a Clown or Plague going to make optimal use of New Ruin when it takes them half a minute to cross a map without getting into any chases?
True

Right, because it is fair for a survivor to have 60 seconds of invincibility, yes? It seems giving survivors a broken perk to abuse seems to be your goal.
No look at my thread about survivor nerfs. I found a way to make DS more interactive and less annoying.

@OtakuFreak said:

The survivor who went for the unhook clearly made a mistake here. If you're aware that the killer is camping, especially if it is a Bubba, why are you going for the unhook?
You made a mistake, or got outplayed by the killer - why should he be punished for something the survivor did wrong? Plus, BT does exist.. which would completely remove this situation from ever happening. (i.e the hooked would escape).
The example you gave can go the other way as well. You can ignore the survivor who was just unhooked, hook someone else and watch them come back 30-40 seconds later aggressively (only to be downed) and stun you with a perk that is supposedly ''anti-tunnel'' yet you never actually tunnelled them.
Dude, DS needs to exist otherwise survivors have no protection against tunnelers. You want to gut the perk and make it so the killer just has to step in another survivor's direction for a second to make the perk totally useless. How would you feel if PGTW could be deactivated by survivors if they finish a heal?
-
The first one itself is too much. Neutering DS and making tunneling the most efficient strategy as killer again seems to be your goal.
-
@ChainsawCharlie said:
As a killer I hate it because it was unwarranted and the reasoning behind it is extremely flawed. It screws over low mobility killers like Bubba, Clown, and definitely nerfs Trapper, with no compensation for those killers to balance it out.
As a survivor I dislike it, because hitting Ruin great skill checks was the only thing skillful about doing generators. It was legitimately the only thing that made generators more engaging. Now the only thing you can do to be engaged is looking around for the killer. That's it. They actually removed an interesting game mechanic for the sake of new players AKA Cash Cows.
Ruin doesn't add skill checks to generators, those were already there. :))

I also used to think big maps were the issue with gens, but experiencing scenarios like this, playing as both survivor and killer (1800 hours of play), in small maps made me realize gen speed is indeed a problem that shouldn't be dismissed.
I'm sure you're ready to show us all how killers can't apply enough pressure on small maps.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/121756/next-survivor-nerf
the next survivor nerf will be 100% toolboxes in 3 to 6 months, followed by keys in 6 months to 1 year.
After that I don't see any upcoming nerf, maybe something indirect with maps reworks, but it really depends on what maps they decide to work on first.
I don't see DS getting nerfed though, ever.
What they could nerf in the foreseeable future is Iron Will, which is very quickly becoming a "80% of high rank players using it" tier. The smart rework would be to reduce the distance at which grunt of pains are heard, instead of the intensity: at tier 3 maybe you could hear a survivor at 5 meters or something like that. It would be huge and a Hex: Ruin outcry level in the making :).
Ok I already knew items were getting nerfed. Interesting take. Personally I didn't know Iron Will was so popular.
-
Still better than solo imo.
-
@ClickyClicky said:
The idea about survivor doing a gen deactivating it early would be good. If you can do a gen then you aren't being tunneled. Most people off hook just want to heal and get away from the killer. This would stop it being used offensively.
Personally though if I could remove any survivor perk it would be sprint burst, dead hard or adrenaline.
How could adrenaline be fixed?

I don't see how it could be abused. Traps can be disarmed. If they run into one it's because they messed up.
I guess you're right. Better to buff trapper than not to.
-
@ReallyBigShoe said:
I also think if you step in a trappers trap, DS should not proc. That's kind of your own fault.
It should also deactivate if you unhook someone while DS is active, and if you take a protection hit. Both of those situations are just you using DS as a superman perk and not as an anti tunnel perk.
I agree with the second part. The first part is pretty unnecessary and sounds a little abusable. Sadly I don't think survivors would like to give up their invincibility perk. Maybe while DS is active you can't unhook in the killer's TR (or 32m, whatever works).
