The gain is 3-4 thana stacks faster than you could achieve before, and people either wasting time healing (if they can, you could use the broken pin) while you chase or dealing with a 16% repair slowdown while you chase. Is it that great? No, they're still (mostly) an M1 killer. Can you get those stacks faster and more consistently than before? Yes.

This patch is a sidegrade for a killer that's already a sidegrade of Plague. You trade mend time delay for more consistent injuries and thus more consistent thana delay. You trade passive infection for active, instant injuries and a shorter character model that has more mindgame potential on certain loops.

Now the main issue is: Legion isn't ever rewarded extra for succeeding with their power. Plague occasionally gets Corrupt Purge when people cleanse and the coughing/puking is more audible than a standard injury. So the real question is, in my opinion: What should Legion get for successfully hitting multiple survivors multiple times in a single FF, if anything?

Legion is not a Side grade of Plague. Legion is just terrible.

I get annoying. But personally, it's moreso for the survivors. I don't think it's boring to keep slapping the survivors around. They get minimal bp for mending, and you rack up hits. I suppose we have different desires with regard to this game.

Yeah, i'd like to do well and enjoy a Killer I like.

  • It would be fun to watch the hope die in them like it did in me.

Well, compare Legion to Wraith. In the time it takes Wraith to decloak, get a first hit, cloak again, find another survivor and get another hit on them, the first survivor could have already finished healing. That isn't the case for Legion. In the time it takes you to get two hits on two survivors, the first survivor will be close to finishing the process of Mending, and won't have started healing yet.

Also, there isn't really a shortage of high-tier perks that Legion can do well with. So I don't think the loss of Sloppy Butcher would be enough to kill them (Especially considering they can now apply a similar effect with an add-on). Spirit Fury-Enduring, Monitor and Abuse, Corrupt Intervention, Ruin, BBQ & Chili, etc.. I think there are still plenty of good options for Legion builds.

But with Wraith you uncloak and hit, then chase. You play them utterly differently.

Any on hit effect perk no longer works on Feral Frenzy. Go look them up. It's things like STBFL. Also yay, more add-on dependency is what I want in my Killers.

  • it wastes everyone's time and makes no impact. "Boring" and "Annoying"

Thank you. That prolly means more to me than you think it does.

  • TO be fair, if a survivor did that then that was a stupid play on there part in the first place.

Yeah, it's not ideal, and makes it highly situational for preventing Borrowed Time. But, my point is that a counter does exist. Granted, it's not available on command because it would be too powerful. Undetectable on command is basically a killer power.

As an example: You see someone going to unhook, you chase, they loop you, you gain bloodlust just as another survivor runs up to unhook while you're distracted. If you want, you can turn straight to the freshly unhooked survivor and down them.

I haven't used it since the update, but even before the update I used Beast of Prey a lot. It's an extremely underrated perk, and the recent changes made it a decent amount stronger in chases.

What do you mean? They still apply Deep Wounds to waste the survivors' time, they still have a powerful detection tool, and they're still good at getting first hits. What is this "Only thing they had going for them"?

You keep saying first hits. First hits don't down. Deep wounds is worthless now. KI is only useful if they are anywhere near you, which you wont know till you go running after that guy at the edge that's gonna get away anyway. All the perks getting ripped from them got rid of any real impact they had.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/109666/dramatic-but-this-is-how-i-feel-now

I totally can relate how you feel right now. First, I was so hyped for the new chapteer but when I read about the planned legion changes on the ptb the hype was almost gone. When I read the actual patch notes yesterday, I felt nothing but disappointment. I didn't even wanted to start the game (and I'm a survivor main btw and don't play killer much), but seeing my most favourite killer, who already was the weakest, getting gutted entirely, literally depressed me.

Usually I play every single day and I always look forward to it, but yesterday I just felt numb. For me this is probably the most disappointing patch that ever was released. Not even because of the nerfs themself, but for the fact that they seriously nerfed the weakest killer with the most useless power in the whole game.

I can see why they did these changes, but implementing them without buffing Legion first is just not fair. That he's slightly faster does not make up to it at all. He needs more buffs. Actually all I want is old Legion. The moonwalk exploit is gone, good perks don't work on him anymore, deep wound is useless, so they could at least give him back the multiple stabbing and reduced stun time and he still wouldn't be overpowered, because he never was.

However, it really hurts me to read that you want to give up. I could understand, the whole thing is just depressing, but I hope you'll still keep fighting with us. Maybe one day they will buff legion again. I really hope they will. And I hope you will be here when they do.

Numb. That's a good word for it. Maybe when that wears off I'll be in the fight again... but for now I just can't. I want a full rework and a removal of DW from there power... I've been fighting for months and eating a ban in the process, fighting to keep my threads of Legion rework ideas alive through forum bugs and everything else. I just can't anymore, not right now.

  • @Monlyth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888745#Comment_888745

I'd honestly be surprised if these changes were enough to make Legion drop below Clown in terms of kill-rate. If they are, then I suppose I'll eat my words, but I don't see how a 3-second change to mend times (And making it so he doesn't interact with a handful of perks) would be enough to make Legion worse than a Killer whose only power is to slow down survivors' movespeed slightly. Especially when they're also buffing several other aspects of his kit.

Also, why do people like playing Myers so much if being an M1 Killer with a NOED effect is boring?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888750#Comment_888750

Well, sure, it's not going to cripple the survivor for the rest of the game, but it buys you time (About 12 seconds), and time is a precious commodity for Killers. To put this in perspective, it only takes 16 seconds to heal by default, yet experienced survivors will often choose to stay injured for long periods of time, deciding that doing gens is more important than taking 16 seconds to heal up. And in many cases, that's the correct play. Every second counts.

cause they had nothing else going for them at all. They had the only thing taken from them.

  • I can't even give my intro anymore... I uninstalled the game. I have no hope and no faith in BHVR. Maybe one they they will change that. The Depressed Ex-Legion Main... just kinda gives up.

You keep referring to the FF streak but I'd say that actually makes Legion better. People who decide to mend close to the action get hit again and have to repeat the process, wasting even more of their time. Doubly so if they decide to fully heal and get hit again because of their greed.

I'm not saying Legion is great or anything, but you're really not seeing this as the sidegrade it is rather than a straight nerf like you're making it out to be. I was extremely skeptical of the change before it went live, and I found it to be better than pre-patch Legion.

I think what we need now is for the mend timer to dramatically drop whenever a survivor touches a generator. That way no one can do what you think is going to become meta against them.

I'm not seeing it as a side grade, cause it Isn't one.

Eh, against experienced survivors, Clown should consider himself lucky if his power has any significant impact on a chase at all. He's actually the weakest killer in the red ranks; even Legion performs better than him in terms of kill-rate.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888724#Comment_888724

Mostly because it's better than the alternative: Giving Plague a spammy, hard-to-avoid version of Huntress' hatchets, without the audible warning from the lullaby. It's really easy for a good Plague to snowball if someone cleanses.

But if they don't, still free NO-ed... but wait! You can loop her! Like you can Legion.

  • @yermom said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888703#Comment_888703

For borrowed time to fire the unhooking survivor has to be within the terror radius of the killer, meaning that anyone with undetectable can prevent borrowed time from going off, and therefore prevent the deep wound timer from ever beginning.

.... you remember what Beast of Prey does right?

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888668#Comment_888668

Yes but they HAVE to mend now. The only way to get the timer to stop is to either loop the killer or not be useful.

They HAD to mend before too. It changes nothing.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888695#Comment_888695

I seen so many people suggest that the Deep Wound meter depletes when a survivor does an action such as repairing generators. ๐Ÿ˜•

I think I can find multiple threads of people suggesting so.

And you also had a bunch of Legion players just tell you that they didn't want it. Sure it depletes when they are on Gens now, but guess what? IT pauses when they run or mend. So they get on a gen, wait till it's done and either mend then or run to a LOS blocker and mend. It stops NOTHING. Oh and i'll also tell you directly I watched OTZ get an 8 man Feral Frenzy Streak cause mending was done so fast. This change only HURTS Legion.

  • @Monlyth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888689#Comment_888689

Well, let me put it to you this way:

If you just press m1 and hit a healthy survivor once, that survivor is now injured.

If you use FF and hit a healthy survivor once, that survivor is now injured and also has Deep Wounds.

If you press M1 on an injured survivor without Borrowed Time, they go down.

If you press M1 on an injured survivor with Borrowed Time, they get Deep Wounds instead of going down.

So, if you're hitting a healthy survivor, using FF is better than just pressing M1, because FF has a secondary effect, in addition to injuring the survivor. And if the survivor just stays injured so you can't injure them again with FF, then they're essentially giving you a free NOED; even for a killer with no power, that's strong.

Then why does no one cleanse against Plague?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888642#Comment_888642

The main difference between Borrowed Time and Feral Frenzy is that Borrowed time prevents you from going down a health state, while Feral Frenzy applies the Deep Wounds debuff in additon to injuring the survivor, thus forcing them to waste time mending, in addition to healing.

Also, when playing Legion, I often find that the increased vault speed allows me to land first hits that I otherwise couldn't. So I don't think he's useless, or even the worst killer. I think that title belongs to Clown, because at least Legion's power lets him bypass windows and pallets, slow down objective completion, and detect survivors instead of just relying on guesswork. The only thing Clown has is a mediocre tool to shorten loops slightly.

I might be in a mess of anger, disappointment, frustration, and sheer depression cause of all this, but I'm not gonna take it out on you. You had nothing to do with it.

But Legion is still one of the WORST killers, and this change will only make it EVEN worse.

  • PTB is nothing other than time for people to complain and Devs to decide who needs to get screwed over next.

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888537#Comment_888537

Be honest. It's been a punishment since the rework. I actually prefer survivors mending quickly compared to them just ignoring it. Plus, if they mend during your FF, killer instinct activates on them and you can inflict the button statuses on them. Now, if only said status effects weren't garbage...

I do miss og Legion, but it seems their purpose is now to just slow the game down, which they do just a little better now than before.

I don't miss OG Legion. OG Legion was an exploiting mess. I just want Legion to be good. Not give BT to survivors as @Kabu pointed out. They don't even slow the game any now. It's not even a little better. It's much worse.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I'm actually playing Legion more now because of the changes. The faster vaulting and movement speed is awesome. You can basically instantly hit someone out of a vault, and respecting pallets with your power almost guarantees a hit whether they run or they drop it and miss the stun. Getting those first hits in as Legion is important, and it's so free right now.

The whole "running stops the mend timer" doesn't make much sense contextually but I don't think it really matters; the point of the mend timer isn't to down the survivor, it's to force them to slow down and spend some time doing something other than a gen. Sure, they could just run to a gen and wait until the last second to mend, but there wasn't much stopping them from doing that before, especially in your terror radius.

Are they still add-on/specific build reliant? 100%. I wish the base duration was buffed a smidge at the very least. Are they anywhere close to top tier or high mid tier? Not really. Are they more fun right now? In my opinion, absolutely.

Expecting them to ever return to the 1st iteration of Legion is just folly. Harping on a number change while completely disregarding the speed changes is a bit disingenuous. Wanting a better, more viable Legion that's fun for both sides is fair, but I don't think anyone knows how to keep the identity of Legion while also making them more powerful.

You arnt seeing that the "buffs" dont outweigh the nerfs. Sure, the speed feels better. I'll give you that. It's fun.... but it's useless. You have no reason to ever use your power, as at this point it actively punishes you for it. Sure you get that first hit, but then what? You are an M1 Killer with nothing to help you in a chase, at all. Legion is now one of the worst Killers on the roster, even lower than even 2 days ago.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

Buttons should cause the effect on the first hit, considering how crap DW is.

A missed attack should not stun Legion and take them out of FF, considering it's a non-lethal ability.

Not only was the time needed to mend reduced, but now as long as the survivor is sprinting the timer doesn't decrease? Really? That's how they fixed this?

They need to rework Legion, already. They're absolutely useless and not fun nor rewarding to play as. They get awesome cosmetics and shafted in every other way possible.

Thank you for still being a voice of reason.

  • @Objectively_speaking said:

Trust me friend there is nothing worse than hitting one survivor and almost never catching other survivors (I'm sure you can relate) but this is better for legion. 130% movement speed, 0.9 second vault speed, pins on first hit. In exchange for 3 seconds of mending (survivors used to mend in same spot hit then do stuff negating hard work) and slight nerf to mend time add-on, removal of basic attack on frenzy hit (I'm not a fan of this change but I can see why.)

All in all, legion is in a slightly better place and can at least punish mistakes more often then before.

Tl;Dr These changes are good but like anything could be better, Ulven I know that if anyone can keep faith and suggest amazing ideas it's you, I simply ask for some patience and time to review these changes.

Pins on first hit. You are already wrong. Pins only work if the person is highlighted in KI. So you have to hit someone else first.

It's not better. We lost perks, we lost what little lethality we had, we lost any pressure our power could bring for what? We move faster. Yay. We get stunned for 4 seconds still, we lose our power on a miss still. We have forever to wait for our cooldown made worse by the fact if you DO m1 someone you lose 50% of your power.

This is what I said. We shouldn't be happy cause "At least there is some buff." This is a foolish mentality and will only result in us being dogs, happy to get table scraps. Slightly better means nothing when a survivor can run across map with no penalty and get mended by someone else in under 8 seconds. OR just themselves in 12. OTZ got a 8 man frenzy stream cause people kept mending so fast. Does that look like a useful power to you? Hell it doesn't even do anything after they are injured.

Every Legion player wanted this change? Really? I didn't. I doubt many others did too looking at all the threads asking the Devs the heck were they thinking doing this. The speed doesn't make up for everything else. Legion's power does nothing other than injure people which most ignore anyway. They have been made more add-on dependent and useless. Most perks do nothing for them anymore. You might as well just m1. Heck, my two Legion rework threads didn't have this crap in them and they were massive. You can't just say "Every Legion player" wanted something.

Just because the survivors try not to group up, doesn't mean it's never going to happen. There are only so many scenarios where all of your teammates can be spread out enough that Legion can't chain any hits together.

Plus, before these changes, the buttons were completely useless, no matter how the survivors played. They forced you to do something that you should never do as Legion.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/888577#Comment_888577

  • @Objectively_speaking said:

I think this is an improvement because at least now you can hit survivors. Because you could have all the stalling add-ons in the world but they're useless unless you actually hit them. Also it helps to think of frenzy as no more than just an M1 attack.

Since DW is no longer TR based, survivors who aren't mending or running will have their timer deplete.

That means Deep Wounded survivors who attempt to do generators, heal, open the Exit Gates, and so on will have their Deep Wound timer deplete. ๐Ÿ˜

    @Monlyth

How are the button addons useful? They only work if people are grouping up together, you know something good survivors do not do especially against legion. Please explain to me how they are useful.

I disagree, old freddy wasn't able to protect totems or whatever he had to wait until the survivor was "sleeping" i do know what you mean with the transition and everything but that didn't change the fact that he had huge downsides when he was not able to even interact with the survivor.

    @StarMoral

Legion was always made fun of right from the start and rightfully so. Do you remember Samnation DBD Parody 5? Wraith told him to gtfo and stand in the corner before writing "NO" on his face.

I really have no idea why somebody would want to play legion? He has nothing going for him like literally every other 115% killer has a way superior power.

Legion was fun, had the thrill of chasing someone down in a frenzy. Sprinting after them and cutting them good, then going after there friends. That and great lore from my point of view made Legion WHY I came back to DBD after 1016-17 era. Now it's just sadness and terror.

  • @Monlyth said:

I really see this as an overreaction, and I say that as somebody who bought Legion and got him to level 50. If anything, this made me more excited to play with him. I like the increased vault speeds, and I love that the button add-ons are finally useful.

If he needs more changes, then he'll get them down the line. If you're gonna be this dramatic over any changes that aren't precisely what you wanted, then you're the reason why community managers get tired of their jobs.

More insults from you huh? Go away.

Also, good job. I bought them and P3'ed them. So by your logic, I have more right to complain then you.

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

Well, there is one good thing about the new DW. Survivors actually have to mend. Sure, they can run around like an idiot, but they don't accomplish anything like that. No more survivors working gens through their DW without worry while their buddy loops Legion nearby. Sure, there's no longer anything that the killer can do to progress the timer, but there's also nothing that the killer needs to avoid to keep the timer from pausing. I just wish that either the timer was shortened, or that mending time wasn't decreased.

I keep seeing people say that Legion needs a rework. Honestly, I think they'd be a lot more fun if you didn't get kicked out of FF with a missed attack. I also think that if the pin effects were changed from mangled to hindered, and broken to either oblivious or exhausted, they'd be more viable.

They can run to the other side of the map, unhook someone, get mended for 8 seconds and move on. They can get on a gen, wait till the timer is close to done then run behind something and mend for 12 seconds. OTZ got an 8 man Feral Frenzy streak cause mending is so quick now. Now they can literally just run away and mend, or mend after Legion leaves. The slight speed boost is HEAVILY outweighed by all the nerfs.... and the speed boost is just a reverted nerf. Legion's power is literally a punishment now

  • @Vetrathene said:

I'd give my opinions on how I like/dislike the new Legion changes, but after playing two games of Oni with 50 ping, teleporting around as if I had 500 ping, and even getting stuck in a locker and a generator unable to move, I stopped playing.

So I just have a look around... Legion. Oh boy, Legion. I knew the Nemesis changes were an oversight, and it wouldn't pass through to live servers. But at this point, is it blissful ignorance or malice that make people forget Deep Wounds is not Legion specific, so any changes to Deep Wounds changes things like Septic and Borrowed Time. This is, again, another oversight that has been changing since Deep Wounds was released.

His speed may be faster in Frenzy, but that can only get you first hits, and bE somehow found a way to make it less lethal. Nevermind the fact he no longer has perk synergies such as Sloppy Butcher and STBFL.

I have a few ideas that would add the proper tactics Legion was popular for, STALLING, that's a whole different post. And when you have the Legion fanatic himself @UlvenDagoth stating there is little hope, you know bE screwed up.

For that to make a difference, the unhooker would need to be running away from the gate, which wouldn't make much sense. Otherwise you would have been in the terror radius before and your deep wounds would not tick down. Beyond that, the timer was (and still is) long enough to get to the gate from pretty much any point on the map, especially when you factor in the speed boost you would have gotten from the hit.

Could you go tell the balance Devs that they made me lose faith in all of you and the game too with these changes? Thanks. Please go refer to my post "Dramatic but this is how I feel..." for more info.

  • I've never disagreed with you more than I do right now. @DudeDelicious

  • What they did to Legion despite all the feedback made me quit playing.

Deep Wounds was a flawed and broken mechanic. Now it's not. It serves its intended purpose of wasting the survivors' time. If you're sprinting all game so your deep wounds timer doesn't tick down, then you're not doing anything productive. You can't do gens, heal, unhook, open exit gates, or search chests until you've finished mending.

I don't have anything else to say to you. You don't see it, and it's plain. "I'll just run allll the way over here... 12 seconds of mend after working on this gen for a while.... and back on the gen."

Yeah... balanced. Useful... It's totally not a free health state like literally everyone else sees it as, and certainly not making Legion's power even more of a punishment to use.

It's clear that BHVR doesn't want Deep Wounds to actually kill you. It's meant to waste the survivor's time and nothing more. Survivors hated the old design of Deep Wounds (i.e. Legion when they were first released), which would often cause you to go down no matter what if the Killer played it right. It wasn't particularly powerful, but it was uncounterable for the Survivor, and thus very annoying to play against. They simply improved upon the existing design so that it always works as intended, taking away the Terror Radius exploits but still forcing you to mend before you can heal or do gens.

Now the devs can implement perks and abilities that grant Oblivious and Undetectable, without worrying about breaking Legion again. I see it as a good preemptive solution to a problem that would have elicited a huge amount of complaints if they hadn't changed anything from the PTB.

While destroying a Killer that people enjoyed using and then, on top of all that, keeping the nerfs they had planned for Legion. Deep Wound is a flawed and broken mechanic and Legion has been through hell because of it. Remove Deep Wounds from Legion and then i might even agree with you. Till then, I refuse. Oh, and also, you didn't answer the whole "I can run and not bleed to dead." part.
