You aren’t understanding. Killers camp/tunnel because a lot of the time they have to if they want to win with how the games current balance is at high mmr. If you balance the game properly you can win without needing to do that. If the game was properly balanced you could then even implement built in anti tunnel/camp features.

If I'm not understanding, it's because you're not clear enough. "Balancing the game properly" is such a broad term you can fit anything in it. I said it doesn't make sense because camping, facecamping and tunneling are part of the game, so they should be considered in your "balancing the game properly", and thus should be balanced.

Killers camp/tunnel because a lot of the time they have to if they want to win with how the games current balance is at high mmr. If you balance the game properly you can win without needing to do that.

This might be true, but only for killers in high mmr that care about winning. That's not a lot of people. What about mid mmr, low mmr, and killers that just want to be ass?

Do mid-low mmr players feel the imbalances as much as the players in high mmr? No. Do these killers need to facecamp, camp and tunnel to win these games? No. Are facecamping, camping and tunneling very commun in mid-low mmr? Yes. Why? Because mid-low mmr survivors are terrible at dealing with it.

This is also an issue because of the matchmaking issues: "There's a survivor among all of them that's an easy target? Free win!". How many times have you been matchmaked with people that have far less or far more experience than you in the game? It still happens a lot to me.

If the game was properly balanced you could then even implement built in anti tunnel/camp features.

Why not doing this straight up since it is also a cause of imbalances as I just explained?

  • @Blueberry said:

This exact feature was tested many years ago. Survivors abused it severely so it was dropped.

You fix camping and tunneling by balancing the game properly. Camping and tunneling is a symptom of poor game balance, not the problem itself. Most the camping and tunneling is because killers feel backed into a corner with no other options since the devs refuse to balance for high mmr.

There will always be some killers who camp and tunnel just because they want to but that isn't the majority.

You fix camping and tunneling by balancing the game properly.

This doesn't make sense, if the game was balanced properly, there should be no benefits from camping and tunneling, meaning camping and tunneling must be balanced too.

If the killer is in X radio of a hooked survivor (5 meters?) and another survivor is in Y radio (10 meters?)not working on a gen the timer stops and gens are blocked. This way all survs would know when a killer is facecamping and can do gens when the surv near the hooked surv decides to do gens also.

Unfortunately, this would create the possibility to make a game last forever. I think it doesn't address the facecamping issue, which is it's impossible to guarantee a safe rescue when the killer is facecamping unless:

    • at least 2 survivors participate in the rescue to prevent grabbing (baiting isn't reliable);
    • the killer can not 1 shot the rescuing survivors.

I think they should at least remove the ability to grab survivors while unhooking (at least for healthy state), and tweak killers that can effortlessly 1 shot any survivors going for an unhook. I don't think tweaking these killers would hurt them much, because they're in a good spot if survivors come rescuing.

  • This would need some workaround because of perks like devour hope. Some perk icon lights up only when the hex conditions are met.

So true ahah, killers would be flying across the map and survivors would transform into objects... wait, that's propnight

Hatch robs the Killer from a 4K, I think No Way Out countering Hatch is fine

You really care about getting a 4k? Imo if the last survivor has to rely on hatch, you have pretty much won the game.

  • There's a glitch allowing to mix different pieces of link skins together, this doesn't require a 3rd party tool. I call this abomination "Jeryl".

Behaviour previously stated they won't ban people using this glitch.

  • I wish the game was more gore, like altering the survivor models when killed by a RBT (reverse bear trap), moried by the demogorgon, etc. I guess that fits for horror.

I also like the "z movie" feeling dbd can have, and I wish some funny events were made for April Fool.

Suzie's Mix Tape increases the Killer Instinct detection range by 20m, meaning Legion can see you outside their Terror Radius. The problem with Legion is that for every one of their weaknesses, they have addons that almost completely negate the issue, and unless the entire team can figure out their addons and coordinate, it becomes much more difficult to counter. Their strength is punishing a lack of coordination, and it's disproportionately more against new players and solo survivors.

Detecting is a thing, being able to reach a faraway survivor is another thing. Moreover, if legion is playing Suzie's mixtape:

    • you know it because of his changed chase music
    • he gets only 1 addon to increase his frenzy speed/length, so he's even less likely to be able to reach detected survivors near 60 meters in his frenzy

I think this addon is probably best suited to get information, not to chain 5 frenzy hits.

Legion's only addon to improve his chasing power to down with m1 I can think of is the oblivious pin, which will not be this useful against experienced survivors.

Their strength is punishing a lack of coordination, and it's disproportionately more against new players and solo survivors.

    I agree on that

  • Her chase music is one of the most annoying in the game, worst than ghostface's imo

The arrancar arc is in the part where Chad Ichigo and Ishida go to save Orihime and they are underground and fight the dreaded dude and Grimmjow right? (Episode 154 I think)

Oh, the arcs on the anime is a mess. I've only read the manga. The bount thing doesn't exist in the manga and I heard it wasn't that good.

What I meant by "arrancar arc" is in fact seasons 4, 5, 7 and 8 (season 7 is only 1 book, I'm surprised they made a whole season out of it; season 6 doesn't exist in the manga).

    I hope I didn't spoil you anything.

  • Aizen's power being the perfect illusion (at least that's what is said in the soul society and arrancar arcs), I don't think it would be relevant to not use it, but it would also be hard to make it fit with dbd.

Some hollows may fit more the killer role (not talking about arrancars).

ps: I was disappointed with the fullbring and final arc, in my heart, arrancar arc is the final arc of bleach.

  • A nerf I wouldn't mind is:

    • You get the ability to down an injured survivor starting at 5 chained hit (no longer down healthy survivors)
    • Hitting a healthy survivor with a 5th+ chained hit inflict deep wound and you keep your feral frenzy

It's rare, but it happens sometimes that survivors mend near legion, making it possible to down an healthy survivor that didn't contribute to reaching the 4 chained hits.

Also this bug should be fixed: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/321844/legion-hit-on-hook-bug (the title is misleading, it's about legion hitting a survivor being unhooked while in the unhook animation).

  • That's true they could show survivor profiles rather than showing the survivor icon where ranks used to be

The only reason so many people play Feng in the first place is because of her insane amount of cosmetics. I am willing to bet money that if they gave survivors like Adam and Jeff cosmetics more frequently that more people would play them

I though people play her because of her cute chinese moans

  • When people say tunneling is not fair, I think they mean it's not fun.

When I play in solo Q, I don't mind getting tunneled, but when I play with friends, it sucks waiting for the game to be over. Pretty easy to understand why.

  • You know, before sbmm was a thing in dbd, I got matchmaked with streamers with thousands of hours and competitive players (yes with the tag and all). Of course I'm no match for them. This still happens sometimes nowadays.

My point is: unbalanced games has always been a thing, and yup the sbmm isn't good at all. I also think removing the rank matchmaking is a good thing to make it harder to smurf (of course it's still possible, but it's harder/longer to do).

  • @Tiufal said:

I never even submitted videos cause they always were "too big", and those hackers still got banned after some time. So it does something.

yes, only low-definition pictures can be uploaded, I always uploaded my records on youtube and put the video link in the report

  • I guess they want us to use the website to filter out sore loosers calling everyone a cheater. I've been called a cheater plenty of times out of 800h (even 1 time today), and I've seen 1 very obvious cheater out of all my games (I play around 50/50 survivor/killer.

Is it a good reason? I don't think so. But since that makes them less work to filter, I guess they're happy with it?

  • I think balancing maps is also super important. Gideon is ridiculous for m1 killers. I don't mind some killers stay simple m1 killer, it makes variety.

  • It's so funny when survivors dh into bloodwarden. Of course it happens 1/20 games, but when that happens, it's priceless.

in New perk idea Comment by Ula
  • Interesting catch!

There's currently another bug with legion, which gives him a free feral frenzy hit on someone in the unhooking animation. Maybe the cause of these two bugs is the same.

  • There's no app on playstation to voice chat with friends? I'm pretty sure xbox has something of the sort.

If you're talking about voice chat when solo Q, I think it would be an awful idea. In all games I played that have voice chat, I ended up cutting it off because of trolls / people with an awful microphone or even just because their place is way too noisy.

What would be cool would be information on what people are doing on the hud ("repairing a generator", "purchased by the killer", "healing", ...), an emote wheel ("I need healing", "I'm going to unhook", "I'm going to distract the killer", etc.) and pings.

These ideas comes from suggestions on how to reduce the gap between swf and solo Q.

  • I think it's a bit rare because the bloodweb is flooded with 11 yellow offerings, and then there's a total of 5 yellow addons.

I certainely don't get a mural sketch per bloodweb lvl 50.

  • I didn't notice any stutter before patch 5.7.0. Now with patch 5.7.1, I get around 5 stutter per killer game.

I also see sometimes survivors going straight in a way, then teleporting to another location as if they had a massive lagspike. I haven't seen so far the icon of bad internet when this happens, maybe I just didn't noticed it. I usually play with 20-30 ms.

  • I think it's not correct to tell people what they must do and not do.

However I would like face camping for instance being more interactive. The only viable counter play to it being "finish all generators as fast as possible" is not amazing.

I wish too camping and tunneling were mitigated by making them weaker, but that will not stop some to continue face camping or tunneling even if it becomes not viable. Just make it fun is what I wish for.

  • Midwich was disabled because of a spot making survivors not reachable to killers and to m1 attacks, nothing to do with boil over strategies.

  • Of course, there's blight and nurse

  • And that is if you get 30k bp per game which is pretty high (without bbq).

I always play bbq because of how hungry the bloodweb is. For people that don't have bbq, grind is a real issue.

  • It's been a while I haven't played bubba, and I was using a lot chilli + award winning chill. I don't remember noticing something special about these addons.

About the carburator, the video you shared is super nice to see how slow it makes bubba. Same thing with the Depth Gauge Rake, it makes you so slow it's an unplayable addon. These 2 addons are supposed to slow bubba in a chainsaw sweep by 2%. There's something wrong.

Ahah, it feels so weird to do skill checks with 0 latency

  • I see so few cheaters and so many people that dc that I can not endorse that.

  • Why not doing this for both survivors and killers? Do you really feel the need to adapt your build depending on what items the survivors bring?

  • @Knytrix said:

I understand dh is super strong and some cry about it. Also I don't mind dh being strong, my life wouldn't change much if it was gone.

  • Neither of your choice. I think the current sbmm in dbd is super bad and I wish the sbmm was both accurate and transparent.

You answered yourself - spend more time = usually people get better.

The more important point being made here is this simply is not good game design and if you aren't playing with 3 other people who know exactly what to do, you may as well hook yourself.

So you think ranks reflect skills? So you think someone beginning dbd reaching iridescent knows the depth of dbd? So you think someone can master dbd in a month? I can not take you seriously anymore lol

Legion's terror radius, by default, is 1/3 of most maps. (He covers around ~3k meters sq and maps are ~9k meters sq). Spreading out almost has no effect. The better option, maybe, is to run to a corner far from other survivors and let him down you there, which sucks and really needs you to run bond.

Legion's base terror radius in frenzy: 40m

    Midwich's lower floor area: 4096m²

Legion's base terror radius in frenzy area: 40*2*3.14 = 251.2m2

    Legion's terror radius / Midwich lower floor: 251.2/4096 = 6.13%

Maybe you were talking about the total area covered by legion in one frenzy? It is 4411,2 m² (no addon, no vaults, no perk). Even though he can pretty reliably detect survivors, guaranteeing to hit survivors is a whole different story.

If there's a good main building, use it! For instance, the Saloon is particularly strong to waste legion's power (it takes more than 10s for legion to go from the street to the generator upstairs). You can also use long walls, for instance there's 2 cars forming a long wall in haddonfield you can use to extend the chase by a lot.

Realistically once you're out of bronze division none of this actually works, you can't really do gens when you're having to hide in corners of the map and legion is most definitely faster than you and is not effected by pallets or windows (pallet stun on legion only works against new players).

once you're out of bronze division

Are you aware ranks mean nothing except the time you spent on a month in the game? This is not a relevant statement. It also looks like you're relatively new to the game.

I recommend you to read this post and replies, you might learn some useful tips against legion: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/321740/how-to-counter-legion

  • @colley94 said:

You didn't really say anything of use there about the changes, elaborate?

You didn't yourself said why these changes are terrible.

The Legion change only punishes survivor that don't split up more than before, adding a tiny bit of lethality.

Imo legion is pretty much the same as before looking toward counterplays: split up, heal only if you have strong healing abilities or a strong medkit.

  • I guess you dropped the pallet during the pickup animation?

You should know you can't interrupt the pickup animation with a stun or a blind, you have to wait for the animation to end for the stun/blind to have an effect.

  • Crossplay is something really great, I'm so sad it isn't a thing on monster hunter world despite they promised they'd do it.

Filters are nowhere near mandatory (I use them only to remove the blur from AA).

I think you're blaming the wrong thing: people have been asking for keyboard and mouse support on console for ages and there's still nothing :/

  • Hell yeah, I want a monkey survivor ahah.

That would be cool for killers too, like a pharaoh god.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

This is t-bag version of killers.

    Don't t-bag, don't waste killer's time. Just leave.

Don't leave people bleed out. Hook them and let them die faster.

But toxic people will do toxic stuffs. Because BHVR allowed this things.

    Sad truth.

I don't know if this is a good idea, you'd see survivors using the bleed out button as soon as they get downed to leave a match just like using the dc button, but without the dc penalty.

  • Am I missing something obvious here?

    Git gud?

Joke aside, if you find it boring to see 3/4 of killers being legion, don't hesitate to take a break from the game. The changes are still quite new so it's normal a lot of people want to play him.

I don't find his rework "terrible" nor I think he has a "terrible design".
