It's fine - my personal tendency as killer is don't GG unless it's a 2K or 3K + Hatch, though I will always respond to someone else's GGs no matter what.
If you're in doubt and want to say GG after, say, 4King a group... ask yourself if you'd also type "GG" first if you just played a 0K and got only 1 hook. If the answer is yes, go for it - you've earned it. Most players (including myself) don't say "GG" after getting their ass whooped, though, so I don't feel I get to say it after whopping ass. I'll let them say it first and respond, otherwise let it be.

killing all 4 survivors is not the entire goal as killer. I imagine that your BP and emblems are not great with that play style. If you don't get multiple hooks on each survivor, multiple chases, and aren't kicking things/using your power much in a match the rewards are going to show that you did poorly.
from the survivor perspective it makes the game extremely unfun and frustrating and will lead to them abandoning the game entirely, which is harmful to the health of the game.
so all in all I would say that slugging everyone is a losing strategy. sure you get the kills but you are driving away fellow players for little reward. can't play king of the hill if you are the only one that wants to play
From the Survivor perspective, I don't really see how this makes the game less fun - it just changes it. If someone wants to slug, they are trading a ton of BPs and making it effectively easier to pick people back up in hopes that they can just get 4 down at once.
If they down someone and camp, you just do gens.
If they down someone and roam, you just pick them up really easily... and they have no consequence.
I've honestly only remember losing to one fanatic slugger before (I don't run into them often), but the game took about as long as a late game win or loss would, and I got a ton of BP. I don't really see the problem.
-
Sounds like you should just start maining Pyramid Head. You don't wanna hook anyone and deal with unhooking perk nonsense? There's a killer for that. ;)
-
Seems fun. Killers don't always have to run a sweaty tryhard build.

Dude, c'mon.
Otz has how many thousands of hours playing, and did this session with feedback from a stream with how many centuries of DBD experience combined in the thousands of people watching it?
You don't need to use it to make it seem like the Devs aren't good at their jobs. Given how fun this game is and the size of their team relative to a AAA company, they're doing a fine job. They should absolutely take Otz's video to heart... but they shouldn't feel threatened by it.

Just played another game where the build did work. :) Completed two gens with two other people and the last gen with one other person. Goes really fast with Prove Thyself. Also I'd never tried Deja Vu before, it's kinda nice.
Oh yeah, Deja Vu is amazing. I forget who did a video on it recently, but it's one a lot of people sleep on. People think it just reveals 3 random gens, but it doesn't - they're always the 3 gens closest to each other. Meaning the one closest to the center of the map that gets revealed is the best gen on the map you can possibly do to set up a hard late game for the killer.

I just had two games in a row with an instant DC, and a third game with two people constantly pretending to be a bush. This has not been a fun evening so far. And I was running Better Together and Prove Thyself. Even then they still don't help.
Yeah, sometimes they won't, but it hedges your bets I think. No guarantees though... it's just a quick and dirty fix for other survivors who spend 2-3 minutes just trying to find a gen to work on. They might not even be bad players, just returning players who know how to loop, just haven't played on the map much at all. It helps those players immensely.
It all depends on the match.
-
Yeah. Even if that wasn't the way it works, it really needed to be.
You can't have Ruin chewing away on a gen survivors are incapable of touching. That's just stupid.
-
Beginning of the day: "Hi World! I'm feeling so good. Let's have some fun, friendly, non-toxic games as Killer in DBD."
*plays 2 games*
Narrator: "After that... he played 24 more games... because that's the amount of Moris he had sitting around."
-
On PC, Killer is quite fun - I get instant queues weekday nights and my rank gets fattened up by console peasants.
Joking.
Also, if you're queuing as survivor on the weekend, I've found running perks that give other players information is quite strong. Lots of casual players on the weekend will spend half the time (especially on Indoor Maps) trying to find generators because they're pretty much GD hidden and you need to play the maps a lot to get an idea where they could be.
Deja Vu + Prove Thyself + Better Together is an amazing combo to run with casual players - it basically tells you the best gen to work on, it then shows others where the gen is and THEN gives a big buff in speed to anyone helping you do it. Better Together is genuinely amazing in this kinda situation as it also shows all players auras when someone gets down, while you're on a gen.
Also Kindred can insure you don't spend all game on a hook while the other 3 survivors all assume someone else will handle it. It also lets them use this time to find other survivors to heal, can show where gens are (based on survivors' aura crouching and working on gens)... and also lets you know when you gotta be the one to do unhooking.
And if you happen to rando into a game with skilled survivors, or are high rank, it still isn't a bad build... because almost every sweaty tryhard just runs DH (or SB), DS, UB & either BT/Adrenline or Spine Chill. Your perks give everyone nice-to-have info that just makes things easier.
-
This is a very solid video. Namely because he also put it together on his stream with thousands of viewers. While he obviously led the discussion, he got a lot of feedback from the stream.
Not sure if they should do everything, but this should be made mandatory viewing for all the Devs this week... at least for consideration.
-
The Killers that get complained about are typically whichever ones Otz puts on his S tier list this month.
Playing them, not playing them, playing against them or not playing against them don't have much to do with it.
Oh, and Deathslinger. Because, yes, apparently everyone hates Ole' Limpy. Me, I just wish there was a skin for him in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Aren't beamers just for clicking????
This is my understanding. This adds a bit of an "MMO" paradigm to this - you got Claudette Healing, you got Dwight and Meg GPSing, and you got David or Laurie drawing aggro with OoO, DH, UB & BT... and most importantly, flashlight button macroed to the teabagging one, so it's just 1 input to both click and teabag. That last part is super important.

yet here we have an actual scoring event to do just that with protection hits...... sorry the gameplay suggest other wise that it is intended for survivors to do just that.
Sure, but protection hits need to have a consequence. Perks that make you invincible force the killer into lose lose situations.

Well friend. Let me walk you through the day of a doctor main.
He's sitting down in his chair, ready to play some dead by daylight. Probably just finished watching three hours of stand up comedy. He sees the doctor, hears that loving laugh, and gets into queue.
That didn't take long, which is a shame because he was trying out so many of the doctor's cosmetics! Today he's wearing a suit, using a baseball bat and has absolutely no skin on his head this time. Because Doctor.
Now, where to find the survivors? Doctor doesn't need any game sense. He just pulses his magic circle and he's found someone!
Hooray! Now to begin the chase!
The survivor wants to throw down pallets and vault windows, but you're a doctor main. You know when to perfectly time your shocks. Sometimes Tier 3 Madness blocks the survivor for you! You never have to deal with pallet drops or loops or anything. The only skill you need is timing your shock correctly.
Wow, that was fun! No loops, always know where survivors are. Just press M2 at the right time and it's practically a single player game!
...through every laugh you realize the cold, hard reality. Every match is exactly the same. There's no PvP. You realize why nobody really plays Hag either, despite Hag and Doctor both being strong killers. Once you learn to time your shocks correctly, you realize there is no game. No counterplay, but now you're stuck.
You never learned how to find survivors and you never learned how to deal with loops. Your power did that for you. You can't play any other killer, or really even play Dead by Daylight at all. You're stuck playing Doctor, forever.
At least his laugh is good right?
As someone who ranked up real fast as Hag & Trapper (level 50 & 40) because I like Trap Killers and then decided: "hey, let's give Bubba a try against Red Ranked Survivors"...
... this is way too ****ing accurate.
Oh well, if I lose another 30, or 60, or so, I'll be back where I need to be. Ridin' the Fail Train back down to low rank. Choo choo.
-
I will never get the mentality of someone who face camps. It's just boring and desperate.
If I want kills, I'll play Hag - the one S Tier killer I've gotten good at and run my try hard perks and add-ons. Rarely will I have a bad game. If I still have a bad game, I just slot a Mori to feel better about myself.
I'm leveling Bubba up ATM - he's fun as hell, just after getting Rank 6 as Hag while leveling her up, I feel like an autistic kid at a fireworks festival trying to make anything happen as Bubba against Rank 1-2 survivors. But who cares. It's a game. You lose, you lose. You don't gotta hook one survivor and sit their sulking until he's sacced.
-
Not sure if this is helpful, but yes, I just ran Mori 3 games straight on my best killer. Hook everyone once, then kill them. Slug on the 3rd survivor while finding the 4th. That way, they won't get hatch unless they have key.
Just don't apologize after - it's condescending. Just do what you need to do and if you still feel guilty about it, well, you got "Break 40 pallets and generators" down that line. Play your worst killer, run Blood Point perks, slot add-ons that cripple the power for more blood points and have a few chill games, paying it back to survivors, going only for gens and pallets.
Let them do a Teabag Boogy at the end gate - I just kept raising my saw and dancing along with them.

To say everyone who complains is someone who cares is a stretch, to say the least. There's people who spew nothing but negativity about this game and the devs. I think it's more a sign they have nothing better going on with their lives.
The people who say "I haven't played DBD in months/years and I came back for a day and this, this, and this are awful." That's caring?
No, that's just mental sickness.
I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people who post do play the game fairly regularly though and genuinely care.

If BT gives no collision then the killer will know immediately if it proc'd and will simply chase humping the survivor until they get collision again. It removes the camping risk, because it could be tested immediately if BT is in play.
It doesn't sound like a nerf to DS.
That's pretty much how it plays out anyway, I feel - at least personally, the only way I'd take a shot at the person who's just been unhooked if A.) I have no choice - they're body blocking well or the other guy had a 99ed Sprint Burst or B.) I swung and missed the rescuer.
I can see this change potentially making it harder to peel a face camping killer, but honestly, the only way to reliably rescue a survivor who's being faced camp is with a team effort of at least 2 survivors. If the expectation becomes that a solo survivor can reliably unhook in front of a face-camping killer, then I just don't see how the killer is going to ever put out enough pressure to reliably challenge the survivors.

Hmm, think this thing ate my previous post. Apologies for the Notefication Spam.
As far as that goes, sure, it's a possibility... but that's not really different from how it is now. If someone is willing to wait out BT, it's not gonna protect you... it just wastes the killers time. The BT guy leads you to a dead part of the map, you down him, you still gotta wait 40 seconds to touch him because he'll just DS your ass. And by the time you're able to grab him up again, 2 more generators just popped.
It's a hugely losing strategy to try and mess with someone under BT IMHO.
-
It's funny - I remember one of the saddest things I've ever seen posted on a forum was in the final days of a game called Warhammer: Age of Reckoning. A Developer made some patch notes long after the game went into matience mode, even invited people to comment. 4 days later, the thread had 1 reply from 1 player. "Who cares."
Complaining about changes is just a sign people still care. That's a good thing, IMHO.

I play killer 1/3rd and survivor 2/3rds of my matches so not exactly a killer main but still, here's my list of what I hope will be changed:
1. DS needs deactivation conditions
2. OoO needs to be reworked (or nerfed so that the survivor cannot hide his/her aura from the killer anymore)
3. The problematic maps (Ormond, Haddonfield, Fractured Cowshed, Thompson House and Mothers Dwelling) need to be balanced
4. SWF should have a shared perk pool so that they cannot stack 2nd chance perks anymore
5. The upcoming early game gen slowdown.
Um.
Wow.
Yeah, this. Saved me a lot of time by basically hitting everything I have an issue with.

It's a nice idea, I don't see any ways this could be exploited.
Would window/pallet grabs still work if BT is active, though?
If possible, I would have it function the same way it currently does in that particular case... though if turning off collision for BTs duration meant grabbing is impossible, I would be OK with that. After all, BT is meant to be a gift you give another survivor to prevent tunneling, and if the killer decides to keep trying to tunnel you, the perk should give a strong benefit.
I have no problem with Anti-Tunneling perks punishing tunneling. It's when you use Anti-Tunneling perks to make an ass of yourself by body blocking me, that's when it feels unfun to play against.
-
DS is a garbage perk that, when combined with either someone else having BT or UB, encourages someone who was just unhooked to facehug the killer and force a lose/lose - either the killer attacks you and pays for it, or he doesn't and your friend gets away.
Anti-Tunneling perks should not help you if you decide to throw yourself on my knife. That's just bad gameplay.
If they can come up with a solution for DS that makes it a reliable anti-tunneling perk without encouraging you to hump my leg for 20-60 seconds and make an ######### out of yourself while I'm trying to respect DS and its combos, I'd welcome that.
Maybe it's just as simple as while under the effects of BT, you have no hitbox so you can't body block. That's all the "DS nerf" I need. As for DS/UB combo *at least* I get to down you and make you waste some time too.

I dont think that's over preforming I think its just optimal play. Preventing the killer from injuring a healthy survivor means less time to heal and more time on gens.
IMHO: an Anti-Tunneling perk should punish me for prioritizing you. It should not encourage you to force me to go for you AND suffer for it. When your body blocking me, I'm not tunneling you - you're literally giving the killer *no choice* but to get punished - it's a lose/lose. If the perk encourages that, It's doing too much.
-
A good Trapper reminds me how bad I am at situational awareness as I literally get caught on Random traps he left out in the open for lawls.

Ok I see now. The meta is boring but the devs need to make changes to tunneling and camping and then nerf these perks.
Exactly. IMHO: if you want to run a perk that makes my life hell second hooking you quickly after first hooking, I'm cool with that. What I hate is the fact between BT and DS, you can literally *body block* me from going after your unhooker. Sorry, this is not the spirit of an Anti-Tunnel perk. I'm doing what you want when you run Anti-Tunnel perks: I'm respecting and going after someone else, but if you start trying to body block me, this isn't fun. Your perks are overperforming and going well beyond their mandate.
-
@azame said:

What better perks do we have?
Blame the devs for not buffing perks and giving incentive to run others. Also blame killers that play on a certain way that makes a perk meta *cough cough* tunneling *cough cough.*
That being said there is technically nothing wrong with it but you shoudlnt blame survivors for not wanting to be deleted and using perks appropriate for the situation.
I'm not arguing. The game has one of the most sharply defined metas of any games I've played. The only way to change that is through both buffs and nerfs. We can't just keep buffing underperforming perks - that's how you get power creep. If killers are slotting 1 perk above all else, they're doing it for a reason... and a combination of buffing underperforming perks and gentle nerfing of the big perks is the way to address that.
IMHO though, it's long since past time they looked at DS, UB (at least in combo with DS), BT and DH... they're just too good. DS in particular needs to be nerfed - it offers the killer no counterplay other than to slug. Same with UB (if combined with DS). DH & BT, honestly, are great perks and good for the game... since Killer has counterplay. You can bait out DHs, you can go for the unhooker for BT... I would just like to see more perks being run - DH & BT get "fixed" by buffing other perks IMHO.
-
You're right... tunneling isn't skill, it's a tactic. There's killers, add-ons and perk that make tunneling more or less effective and it also depends on the killer's playstyle. You can either be a good tunneler or a bad tunneler.
And yes, deliberate tunneling should occur only when you're losing. I feel it's somewhat against the spirit of the game to focus on one survivor, but if someone decides to do an unsafe hook in front of me and I'm playing Hillbilly or Bubba...... or for some reason, I know they aren't running BT... sorry. I'm not gonna let you run from me.

How is DS an issue? Stop. Tunneling. Wow you completely countered the perk by simply chasing someone else. So hard.
I'm trying, but between the BT you have up and your DS/UB combo, you keep getting in my way, body blocking for the guy I'm trying to go for instead of tunneling you. It's almost like this doesn't exactly feel fair.......

Do we even play the same game? Constant DC's, suicides, ppl that unhook you in front of the killer, ppl that can not do skill checks, that can not last more than 20 seconds in a chase.
That's the norm. The majority of ppl just suck and he should be the only one that has no experience and reaches rank 1 in one week? Dream on or take some medication please.
Take my meds? Holy macrol. If this is how you react to a little pushback on the forum, you're clearly the guy who ragequits the second a killer downs them once. Stop doing that and maybe you'll rank up.

People lie all the time anytime. Nobody makes it to rank 1 in one week that has never played the game before. On survivor even less, if you don't get carried by 3 experienced players.
Everyone that thinks that is true should maybe get some kind of therapy.
It's definitely doable. He'd have to play *a lot* of games, but the ranking system is really lenient. He doesn't have to escape, he just needs to be capable of doing gens, don't immediately fall over when the killer sees you and don't get left on hook all game or ragequit/killyourself on hook... and you probably gain a pip. Good games where you escape usually get you 2.
You have to play real bad to lose 1.
You really don't need to be a good player to hit rank 1. You just need to play *a lot* and not suck.
Killer, IMHO, is a *little* harder... but not much. You have to be pretty tilted (stop playing when your frustrated - best advice you can get), new with the killer your playing or genuinely awful at this game to lose more pips than you gain game after game.
-
Look at the perks high level survivors run - almost every survivor at high rank slots *at least* two, maybe even three, of these: DH, DS, BT & UB. For the other 1-2, you can almost guarantee SB, Adrenaline or Spine Chill are going to be there. That's 7 perks that are going to account for, what, 80-90% of all choices? Out of how many?
It makes every match play out the same, with really the only difference being how quickly the killer is able to get map pressure. If 2 gens pop before he hooks someone, it's probably a loss for the killer. If he can get an early hook, it's probably a win. Comebacks or upsets can happen every 1 in 5 games maybe, but since everyone runs meta, no one has any aces in the hole (no pun intended), no one has any surprises for the killer. You hump their backs for a couple of seconds, bait out the dead hard... slug anyone who's been unhooked for less than a minute, if someone's going for an unsafe hook, you focus the guy doing the unhook and pray the other survivor isn't smart enough to body block.
That's not healthy for the game.

Put it on yesterday. 3 of them with purple flashlights, offering screen up comes coldwind as expected. Game starts with the usual click click click sounds. Well thats ok because im running a full slugging build. One side left that game very unhappy and it wasnt me.
Next game a toxic Squadette lobby. Along comes the most tryhard spirit build with an ebony mori. Again one side likely left unhappy but it wasnt me.
I know people say its a vicious circle etc but some of these people need to be taught the hard way that killers can play toxic too and toxic play isnt very fun.
Heh. Won't lie: I see a Squadette or everyone being the same survivor in the same outfit, I could not lobby dodge faster. No shame in that
-
Yeah, I think you need a flowchart to understand that rework. I'd rather keep it the way it is. I know this Survivor has God Mode for 60 seconds. It may be stupid, but it's simple. With your rework, I have literally no clue whether its up or not.

The Pop nerf is just kinda window dressing covering the real complaint: DS is too common and is not fun or interesting to play around. I suspect the Devs don't really know what they can do with it though - nerf it even by a little, and it might fall out of meta, which will be a big swing toward Survivor Mortality.
-
I'll say the arguments against DS is fair - calling out the Devs over them probably isn't.
The Devs have to be super careful nerfing anything on the Survivor side. The wrong Survivor nerf could potentially break the game. This game is no fun if things are stacked for the Killer - it's no fun being Survivor, it's no fun being Killer.
You can't just nerf DS willy nilly, or the extremely delicate balance will be gone. If it's too hard being killer, well, time to slot Mori for 10 games or so. Fix that issue real fast.
DS that.
-
It's a bad sign when Survivors are thanking the Devs for making killer changes that are supposed to make the killer more fun for both sides.... lol

Ds is literally not an issue if u just don't tunnel the same survivor off of the hook, and if they go in a locker thats 1 survivor not doing gens, so what exactly is the problem? Now that DS is bugged its just tunneling and camping almost every game for like 2 weeks and u try and say that DS should not only be nerfed but even removed lol. If anything DS is necessary if the survivors want to actually play the game for more than 2 mins. The problem is how ds combos with other perks, so if they can do smth about that then do it (unbreakable soul guard for example).
Pop barely got nerfed and ppl are jumping on the nerf ds train instantly which is not surprising since this community is so 2 sided its insane, theres barely ppl thinking about whats fun for both sides instead of just 1. 45 seconds is way more than enough to still get to a gen across the map even as a 110% killer so whats the problem? The dev comment even said that its being changed cuz ppl could do things without even thinking about it and still have it at the end then get a new pop. And the meta is ruin undying so whatever. The other perk changes like blood pact i've seen some ppl saying survivors will abuse it and my question is how? 16m is nothing and in order to abuse it in chase thats 2 survivors not doing anything plus after a hit the sprint burst will most likely make the survivor run further than 16m and deactivate the perk.
All and all wait until u play it on the ptb before complaining, but u are not even reading this part since u are already writting a comment calling me an entitled filthy survivor main.
This post is about both sides btw, survivors do the same thing just this ptb its the killers doing it and i thought u guys were more mature.
The vast majority of the the killers argument is more the perks on the Survivors side, which are being untouched in favor of killer nerfs.
Seeing 4 DSes, 4 DHes, 3 UBs, and 2 of any combination of SB, BT, Adrenline every single match with one person running 1 random perk of the 90 others or whatever... gets old and tired.

I mean if the injured/unhooked survivor runs for me and gets in my face I just wait out the BT and down him. Eat the DS too if you want to. If you hit him while he has BT its like hitting the fully healed unhooker. Brief speed boost and the can be downed in one hit. If he's doing dumb stuff like that which ultimately makes it easier to get him out of the game - why complain? It saves having to look for another player? Or better yet - let him waist his time while youre on the unhooker - then thats two survivors not doing gens?
I never understand people complaining about survivors playing dumb when they are wasting their time doing nothing but following you. Its the same when I get a FL player following me around. Makes the games so much easier.
That's all well and good if you're a seasoned killer playing against baby survivors, but when Survivors are on point and you aren't running a Tier S killer, a well timed body block for a couple of seconds is all the healthy survivor needs to get to a loop he can chase you around for days, drop a pallet and get away (unless you want all the gens to pop while you continue chase).
I'm not talking about situations where you have ClickyClicky the Console Player following you around, failing to get flashlight saves since all you have to do is look away from him when you pick up a body and walk sideways to your hook of choice - yes, that's obviously a good thing for Killer.
I'm talking about just body blocking long enough to save the healthy survivor and getting to a pallet. That does not take long, and the combination of DS+BT and/or DS+UB (or all 3) probably needs to be looked at. It goes beyond the spirit of what the perks were meant to do, at least as the Devs have explained them. The devs often nerf killer perks because they force the survivors into a "lose/lose" (their own words). These perk synergies do that as well for the killer.

Yeah - the spirit of DS being an "Anti-Tunneling Perk" is long since gone.
Between DS and BT, "Anti-Tunneling Perks" have literally become: "Perks that make my job after being unhooked for the next 20-60 seconds be to run in your way, body block you and prevent you from chasing anyone else... because you can't do jack to me."
I like perks like DS, DH, UB, SB and BT all on their own... because I think it's fun that survivors have counterplay. The synergies between SOME of them, however, get too strong. And it also means that if you want Counterplay to the Killer, you basically have to take, what, almost 90 perks and reduce them down to about 6. Such a waste.

If its goal is to actually be an Anti-Tunnel perk, I think when a survivor is capable of doing a DS, the killer should get a notification. It doesn't have to be specific, but "Decisive Strike" should pop up on your Hud, letting you know someone on the field is capable of doing it. Any semi-smart killer will be able to figure out who has it. That way, at least if you slot it, OK, I have to respect it... but ALL Survivors don't benefit from this 5th slightly less powerful "phantom perk" that every killer has to play around even if you don't have it.
Although counter argument to my original argument, that would just make it go from something almost every survivor runs to something every survivor NEEDS to run. Without exception.
So meh, I don't really know how you address it other than nerf it into the ground... which even as a Killer main, I'm not sure that's best for the game.

Oh look...
... it's every single game I play as Killer.

Thana is getting buffed outside of slowing down healing. Sloppy Butcher exists.
And you seriously ever need 46 seconds to use PGTW?
Quit whining.
The only legit point I've seen is if you're going to do that to Pop, you should do that to DS as well. I have not seen one good reason why DS needs to be 60 seconds, especially in the same argument with Pop being nerfed to 45.
I shouldn't have to set a stopwatch when someone does an unsafe hook. I should be able to punish that.
