  • Hag and Deathslinger at the same time, just a couple of weeks ago.

I love Trapper, and I knew Hag played similar to him... so I went with her.

I picked up Deathslinger because he was also on sale and I love his concept... I've tried him a few times and I can still barely figure out which end of the gun shoots.

  • Have they ever released survival rates w/ SWF vs. not?

I'm genuinely curious. I've never played this game with friends, but others I have - my win rate plummeted whenever I played with a few, because we'd just be shooting the #########, talking about things not related to the game... and this game, where subtle noise queues can mean the differences between a 4K and a Displeased Entity, I can't imagine I'd do well with my friends. haha

Cuz you cant pick em up cuz they also have DS? So you let em on the ground and use unbreakable or pick em up and they DS you and you never know what they have.

That's fair. When I play survivor, I actually don't run DS either, since most killers just seem to give me the benefit of running them and act like I have it.

It's a weird meta where if you don't run DS, unbreakable or DH, it's like having 7 perks... because the killer won't take the hit the first time he thinks he can, expecting a dead hard out of me, then refuse to hook me after 1st hook because he thinks I have DS and another survivor just taps me for a second or two and brings me back after I near fully charge the bar, removing the need for unbreakable.

  • Honestly don't get why Unbreakable is considered so strong. It's an anti-slugger perk that works once a game... meaning you'll get zero value if the killer just tries to hook you. I prefer perks that have smaller but guaranteed results every game.

No Mither is a huge gamble and is fine as it is.

  • Either Killers gonna kill or survivors gonna survive. And if the Killer is really bad at killing, Survivors gonna make their own excitement by walking up to your face with a flashlight and their teabags. Just the way it goes.

It's honestly not the majority of them that bully - it's just the few that do can really get under your skin especially when you're learning a new killer, have 1-2 yellow perks slotted... and things aren't even remotely close to fair... you just gotta grin, bear it, type "gg"... and requeue. One day, you'll have a level 50 killer, some solid builds, some great add-ons... then you can slot Mori for like 10 games straight and get your revenge.

  • I just wish they would let killers run custom maps by themselves or allowed games with really dumb bots to practice on. I'm a Hag/Trapper main trying to branch out and my first few games as Deathslinger might as well just be Generator Simulator for 3 players while I helplessly chase one trying to figure out which end of the gun shoots.

I will say though, I did enjoy seeing someone teabag... only to shoot them, drag them out of the finish gate, and hook them. Pro-Tip: Don't teabag Deathslinger in the exit gate while Injured. That was probably the most satisfying sacrifice in DBD.

BTW: I'm being put against Rank 4-8s despite being Rank 13 with instant queue... there's clearly less killers than groups of 4 survivors, at least on PC late at night.

  • It's always possible someone struggling sees your aura, notices you're searching a chest rather than doing just about anything else at this point, and says: "Screw this, next game." ;)

Jokes aside, I've never heard of this happening before. I'm PC player.

  • It was OK, I just think they need to tweak the rules to encourage more "big balls" plays in the late game. First match, everyone just walked out, leaving a guy on the hook. DBD's most exciting gameplay is when you refuse to leave to try and save that last guy on hook.

Under the current rules, I'd say if you abandon a teammate on Hook without one successful late game unhook, the Killer is awarded an additional 4 points. This means it's almost always a better play to go back for that survivor and risk getting another hooked (2 points for the killer), rather than 4.

  • It's a good thought, but their point system seems to be set up to provide a boring viewership experience. 1 point per hook, 1 on death... but if, say, you hooked a survivor only once and they died on hook, you just get 2 points for it. Why wouldn't the killer get full points for that? It might have encouraged bolder play - survivors trying late game unhooks - to keep from losing those extra points.

Then you have situations where the one survivor is left on hook... and doesn't try to unhook themselves and just dies, so we watch nothing happening until he dies, because if he tried to unhook himself and succeeded, he'd be about a 99% chance of just feeding the killer another point.

This happened in Match 1 for both sides, where the point totals and awards encouraged them to leave people on hooks and end the match. Why would you set it up like this? DBD's most exciting gameplay is late hooks and late unhooks. If anything, the points should encourage "big balls" late game plays - not the opposite.

You gotta make the rules more viewer friendly to encourage action, not playing safe.

Perhaps a fix might be, if you abandon someone at the end of the game without *at least* 1 late game unhook, the Killer gains 4 points. Succeeding at 1 late unhook negates those points gained. This makes it so trying and failing (to the tune of someone else getting hooked) is more likely better than doing nothing at all.

  • I find, at times, the Entity QQs more than the playerbase.

The Entity should spend less time worrying about my performance as killer, and more on the Survivors who keep disappearing when I pick them up after downing them once.

  • @MrPenguin said:

The optimal way to play either side is to tunnel. Gens or survivors, you want them out the game asap. The only difference is the community's perception in most cases is: when survivors do it, its apparently fine, but when killers do its "toxic". The exception being "gen rush", which is barely different to normal survivor gameplay, so I don't understand the big deal around the distinction really.

In either case its fine to tunnel. Both sides are allowed to do it. The game is just unbalanced in the survivors favor because of perks, gen times, and map design. Unless you're playing Nurse, Spirit, or Freddy. For Nurse you better hope you're good with her and your not in a map with dead zones or indoors.

I agree to some extent, so long as tunneling doesn't come with an opportunity cost. Allowing yourself to be bodyblocked by other survivors, or forgoing 1-2 easy stabs in the mid game to try and chase down your RL Obsession, can lead to bad games. If folks are willing to take the hit, you just gotta give it to them sometimes: if the other 3 survivors are gen-planted while your doing a 2 minute grabass chase with Meg, you're not going to have a good game.

And that's all secondary to the fact tunneling, if unprovoked, just feels meanspirited and unsportsmanlike... which isn't fun for me when I'm killer. I'm OK losing a game vs. skilled survivors than playing like that. Now, someone decides dropping a pallot is worthy of a tbag - that's my RL Mori. "So you have chosen death." I still don't do tunnel even then when its not tactically sound, but if given a choice, I go for the Bagger.

  • I don't even have the perk but survivors who whine about the Killers perk choices are kinda a meme themselves.

I just respond "gg"... but if the whine is particularly salty, they get an added winky face. Mine wrath is a terrible thing to behold.

  • I'm using this opportunity to get my killer rifts done for killers I suck at.

I've lost track of the number of times I've DINGED THE BELL, trying to do the Wraith challenges... especially that one within 4 meters of survivors.

Might as well reword that challenge: "Play Wraith Incorrectly In Front of 4 Different Survivors In The Same Trial!"

In the end, I settled for playing him correctly, then hooking them, and then dinging the bell like an autist while they're on hook. I really hope it didn't come off as toxic, I just wanted to make sure I got credit.

  • It doesn't bother me. The only thing that can cause me to "tunnel" (and I use that term loosely) is tbagging or taunting. It won't make me focus on you at the exclusion of all else, but at any time where I have a choice of survivors, I'm going for you.

Had an Ace disarm my trap, drop a pallet and begin tbagging the other day... only to run around a corner and hit my second trap. I may have M1ed him a few times after hooking and displeased the Entity. That Ace proceeded to have a bad game.

And the Entity will just have to cope.

  • Yeah, I am a little concerned about him becoming another Nurse. A frustrating, unfun Killer to learn... but a borderline unstoppable powerhouse killer with very limited counterplay once mastered. But we'll see how it goes.

  • It spans the gamut. You can literally have one game where a Huntress picks you up and delivers you to hatch, a second where a Blight Moris you and tells you to "get clapped, enjoy your L" AFTER you say "gg" and compliment him.

And this is an example from 3 hours ago.

I'll say this: because this game lets you be your worst version of yourself - and encourages/enables it to some extent - it means all the more when you're a good sport.

  • If Survivors don't have an edge in super high level play w/coms... how the heck could they function in a group of randos, off coms with 1 having all the survival instincts of a special needs lemming?

  • It's very hard to balance, but ideally ALL killers should either be dependent on add-ons to perform best, or none at all. Right now, you have some who basically need add-ons to even have a good shot at killing even 1 good survivor... and others who you can 4k with ease while going "lolol whats an addon?"

  • I really don't get these threads. If you wanna tunnel survivors, tunnel survivors. If you wanna "tunnel gens" (lol?), tunnel gens. If you want to hook someone put 2 traps down next to them and sit their spamming M1 on them, go for it. Happened to me yesterday. I don't run meta perks, I run Kindred... all he did was show the other 3 survivors where he was for 2 minutes... they just finished the remaining gens and left and 2 of the 3 taunted the killer after the game. Killer rubbed in that he killed me, all I said was "gg wp!"

    I consider it a win.

I don’t expect people to care as I haven’t been on this forum for a long time, but I’m still going to post my thoughts.

I’ve played this game for a long time, on both sides. I have bought every single DLC chapter and have spent way more money on cosmetics than I’d like to admit, but recently I just don’t have fun and it’s because of the people I’m forced to play with or against. I was so excited for Felix and the graphics update but 90% of the matches I’ve had since the update have been with killers that either face camp or tunnel. I expect to see this once in a while but not almost every single match. Maybe I’m being extremely unlucky with whatever server I’m being put on, but I’m having a terrible time and I’m finding myself getting annoyed which is something I don’t want any game to do to me. So it’s time to bow out.

It is sad as I truly do love this game and the hard work put into cosmetics etc but I just can’t cope with the absolute shitfest that is the player base. It’s not as bad for a killer, but I didn’t buy or invest in this game to only play one role.

Also, it’s not always me being face camped, in fact, it’s rarely me. But being in those matches still drags me down as it’s no fun having to just sit on generators whilst your team are camped at the hook. Where is the fun? This game is called Dead By Daylight, not generator simulator.

Hopefully the rest of you are having better matches and maybe I will return but I can’t see it being anytime soon. I’m completely drained by constantly going against people who’s sole goal is to make people have a terrible time.

    Daisy,

    👋🏻 💚

As survivor, it can be easy to get discouraged... but you gotta remember those magic moments this game allows.

Earlier today, I had this game where Pyramid Head we were pretty well outplaying. I opened gate to 99% and waited for the 4th survivor to show himself. Unfortunately, he went down right when the other 2 rats finished the door and ran out.

I see Pyramid hook and proceed to face camp.

I felt bad because this dude was only on his first hook, so against my better judgment, I go back to try a solo rescue.

Seeing me coming back, the other survivor did not try to free himself.

I waited nearby... seconds felt like minutes. Pyramid Head was getting impatient. He began circling around, trying to find me. He then decided to check the exit, expecting me to be tbaging him or something I suspect. With about 5 seconds left on the struggle, I unhooked. We ran for it, Pyramid Head got in the way. I rush Pyramid Head like a madman, bodyblock as he tries to get to my ally, he reflexively swings, I take the hit, and we both make it out.

This game has magical moments and that moment easily outweighs 4-5 bad games.

  • If the DC penalty comes back, all you'll do is see a marked rise in 1 hook wonders. The're only 3 certainties in life: death, taxes and pansies will always find a way to succeed at being a pansies. :D

  • When a survivor gets salty about my perk choices, I make sure I add a winky face after I say "gg".

    Mine is a terrible vengeance.

Speaking as a Myers exclusive Killer, I feel your pain. If it makes you feel any better, we generally don't tunnel. We don't usually give any thought to whom we grab next in an indoor map. I take the first person who happens to pop in front of me and is an easy get. But, I assure you that things improve as you continue to play.

For sure. It was actually 2 separate maps. The Myers time was outdoors. I had no problem with it, just people rushed the rescue after the 1st hook and didn't take a hit for me.

I honestly tend to get camped/tunneled hard due to my playstyle as Survivor. I'm always baiting chases and rescuing others whenever I can. I use Borrow Time so I can do some crazy unhooks. I never tbag or anything toxic, always say gg no matter what, but I can't count the number of times I'll be the dead survivor on a 3 escape... it's just how it goes when the killer gets to know you a little too well.

I guess for me the whole not being unhooked thing is rarely an issue for me. I constantly have people rushing to unhook me the moment the killer puts me on the hook. Perhaps if it was the other way I would see it differently. On those rare occasions where the other survivors just leave me on the hook to die I actually find myself saying "At least they didn't pull me off the hook with the standing there"

I play Killer/Survivor about 50/50... and yeah, the easiest thing to do is to give the impression hooks are safe when they aren't. I had one completely whacky game where I hooked someone at the end of the map and all 3 survivors came for him. I swear for the next 3-4 minutes, I could run the Benny Hill theme over the footage as they literally didn't even give me a chance to NOT camp, as I'd turn to go, see one, chase one, see another go for the unhook, knock one down.

In the end I had 3 downed bodies next to 1 hooked and I was left scratching my head. I had to even let one wiggle free because I couldn't reach a 3rd hook after sacrificing 2. lol

Some people just don't understand how to unhook successfully.

Hag is stronger as she wastes less time setting up her web(area of traps) then trapper and doesn't need to collect her traps.

trapper doesn't stand a chance against a good swf as in someone is almost always watching him and disarming his traps, hag is similar to that but she can place her traps in spots where if they get triggered you get the hit anyway but they have to be set in odd spots and your assuming they want to trigger it so the trap will be a little farther from a pallet or window.

hag can defend an area easier than trapper and properly placed traps with good reactions are almost guaranteed hits, she relies on her traps more than trapper but its made up by the fact that she can have more placed, they give her map pressure, and the only way to disarm them is with a flashlight or by triggering them.

trapper does get the insta down and pickup if he a survivor goes into one of his traps but hag can down survivors very fast or get multiple survivors injured if you get traps to trigger back to back which is what you should try to aim for. the very fact that trapper just wastes more time on his traps which can be disarmed and have to be picked up/reset to use them makes him weaker than hag.

here's a video for you since you said your new to hag, it contains trap placements that all hags should know. I would also watch space coconuts guides both new and old as they contain tips that are still relevant and imo he explains things better.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AX5AGQiNKg0&t=2080s

also for people saying hag is a camping killer your right she is, she is one of the best in the game but thats because of her power and a hag placing traps at a hook or basement and staying in tp range isn't necessary camping especially if your in her web. yes there are hags that just wait until a save and go tunnel or go after the savior but the optimal way to play hag requires you to be in tp range anyway which to be far is pretty large at 40 meters.

I get the impression not a lot of people know you can just simply crouch-walk over traps and not detonate them. They won't detonate while crouchwalking, nor will they detonate while you're doing an action like repairing or unhooking. If more folks knew that, they'd know her traps aren't 100% reliable camping mechanisms.

Of course, without knowing that, it can seem like if a Hag puts down a couple of traps on a hooked survivor, it's almost impossible to free them.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

If you want hag advice you can check out Space Coconut. He seems to be a good hag player.

As for trapper. Otz has some nice vids on him. If your into twitch TheEntityLeftHand and Humerogamers are pretty good trapper mains.

Yep, I've definitely watched Space Coconut and Otz. I know super good killers can play both and do very well with them... I'm just shocked at how much of an easier time I'm having 3 or 4King as Hag than Trapper, without really doing anything super different.

  • @DBD78 said:

Hag is free? Or is that only on Xbox? Anyway Hag is the 1-3 best killer in the game while if it was not for Clown, Trapper would be the worst killer. Still if you just play for fun than Trapper is always a nice killer to play.

Nah, Steam had a sale though with Blight's release - 40% off previous chapters. I picked up Hag and Deathslinger for like 4 bucks each.

AH, did not realize consoles got her for free.

  • It's a minuscule amount of points. My preference would be for you to just leave, but one thing a lot of DBD players seem to have a problem with is: losers don't get to decide how they lose. So I'll come and see you off to your next game without complaint, with or without an extra hit.

  • I find people overthink this. The only rule I play by in this game is: "Don't be an overt D-Bag."

Whether you're the killer or a survivor, bring the perks you want to bring. Bring whatever add-on you want.

As a Survivor, I'm a sweaty no-nonsense SOB who is trying to win. I'll bring any perk or add-on I want.

As a Killer, I'm a sweaty no-nonsense SOB who is trying to win. I'll bring any perk or add-on I want.

As a Survivor, I will never tbag the killer. I will never taunt the killer.

As a Killer, I will never taunt the survivors. If the game wasn't fair for any reason I can determine (like 1 survivor DCed or killed himself on first hook)... and if I was greatly outplayed by one of the survivors, I will give them hatch.

If anyone speaks to me after game in anything less than a positive tone, all they get from me is "gg." Whine all you want, complain about my playstyle, my add-ons, my perks... have a good cry and get it out of your system... I hear you bro... but all you're gettin from me is "gg". Same with me having a bad game. Call me a noob, say "gg ez"... says more about you than me. "GG" and I will forget the person in 15 seconds.

Obviously, I'll say more if the tone is positive.

  • @Iceyrawr said:

in Q&A dev says they changing huntress's add-on.

But looking at what they did to nurse and billy,

I refuse to believe they only nerfing iri head,

probably doing an entire add-on pass that no one ask for and making her unfun to play as.

    so RIP, bye bye huntress.

Nurse is still the most powerful killer.

And Billy, are you talking about the last Billy nerf a month or so ago? Have you actually played him since? That chainsaw overheat tweak has done nothing to impact his practical play... unless all you do is rev your chainsaw in front of a hooked survivor.

  • I agree with some folks above: we don't need any additional incentives for people to not help folks on hooks. That could break the game in the meta.

The in-game result, after enough times, teaches most people that unsafe hooks can take a normal situation and snowball it directly to a loss. If the killer is camping or playing close, sucks, but just do gens. 3 gens pop while Wraith is facecamping, he either has to accept a 1 death loss or do something about it, giving you a chance.

But hitting their overall points for it - we might as well penalize bad skill checks or the killer anytime they swing and miss. This game is already fairly punishing on newer, less experienced players... this would just make it even harder for them to get blood points.

  • Honestly, one of the best games I've played in a long time. Outside of some MMR woes when I first joined a month or so ago, it's been very good.

  • "gg". I've found this is the best approach when playing killer.

In the event Survivors whine about being tunneled, you camping - or if they're toxic in-game and say things like "gg ez" when you have a bad one, just type "gg". No matter what.

    It shows

1.) Complete ambivalence and apathy to their whining in the event of a win.

2.) Their toxic antics didn't even get your pulse rate above 85 in the event of a loss.

3.) In a good game without toxicity, it shows you're a gracious winner or a good sport when losing.

    You just can't go wrong.

  • @KrazyAce13 said:

So killers are forced to stay with who they choose once the lobby is found sooo.... why not the same for survivors? To me just seems like another biased limitation given to killers, and before anyone says something about killers powers, survivors that are played more often will most likely have more useful items (pretty much their “power”)so the quick change of survivors can potentially give them a big change on the outcome. For example a swf goes in and last second decides lets do a hatch play teammate a grab a key teammate b get the map or lets sabo squad this #########, or burn a map offering for haddonfield oh we need to change to so and so for that item/perk/offering... hey devs your bias is showing....

Showing the name of the killer could give information that the game isn't balanced around. If you know a killer mains a particular one, you can play perks, survivors and add-ons to hard counter. The game is balanced around survivors not knowing who the killer is at start.

  • I'm a huge Trapper fan... yeah, I know he's basically Claudette in a mask as far as being an effective killer on some maps, but I enjoy his playstyle. And nothing quite beats the feeling of a survivor falling into one of your cleverly placed traps. It isn't always about getting a 3-4 kill.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    Just why?

I find its an Indoor map thing. Last few Wraiths I fought on Indoor Maps who were lucky enough to get one down just facecamped their down. Indoor maps, IMHO, suck no matter what... whether you are a Survivor or a Non-Teleporting Killer... but they suck much worse for a Non-Teleporting Killer.

IMHO, if I rando an Indoor Map... I consider it a moral victory if I was able to get 2-3 folks on hooks at any point, so I can see the pressure a killer feels to tunnel and facecamp.

I've been a high prple/lower red ranke survivor aswell as killer. Stopped playing for months because of terribly one-sided, unfair and unfun matches.

I've returned for the MMR system and had a blast. The best matches I had ever played, Solid back and forth, prettyclose games not just stomp or get stomped kind of matches. I've been only playing killer though.

Been playing survivor now that MMR is disabled. Dropped to rank 20 because I hadn't played for so long. It's been hell. Probably to worst gaming experience I've ever had. Most of the time I've faced killers that shouldn't be anywhere near these ranks. I shouldn't be there, and some of these killers are better than I am, so why are they playing at newbie ranks? Most of the time I then get teammates who seem to have never played a video game before.

I've also seen a fair amount of survivors who likely shouldn't be anywhere near these rajnks. Every now and then I face an obvious beginner and they are getting slaughtered.

There's nothing in between and it is an awful experience, probably not just for me.

I lreally ike this gamne but I can't stand these bs matchups. It is not getting much better once I've ranked up a bunch. I'd really love to have some fun and fair matches and hope you'll get the MMR fixed and up and running again soon.

So sick and tired of derankers and the likes, screw '*em.

I think the MMR system had some very specific flaws that they weren't able to address in a quick fix. As an example, I bought the game from a steam sale right when the new MMR system came out... and, literally, in my first 5 games on both Survivor and Killer, I was being put with and/or against Rank 1-5s. Every time. And it was awful. The killer would get perfect games, I wouldn't even hook 1 person before they all escaped... it was not fun. at all.

I do hope they bring back their MMR system and make it a bit more transparent. It seemed like it was working for some people. But it was very much not working for others.

    1. Agree. Top Priority.
    2. Also a Top Priority. The game's missing out on so much stuff that's literally standard for so many games in the main gaming industry.
    3. This is not a priority right now. While it'd not hurt with more modes, there's just so much negative things happening in the game right now.
    4. Most definitely. There's so much that can be improved in terms of maps. I'd not mind a new map in every Realm that have a Clown carnival in it.
    5. Right now, we need to fix the game instead of adding more.
    6. The MMR system needs to have a visible indicator of high up you are in the system, and if you're going up or down after games.
    7. Absolutely.

#6 is really key. If ranking no longer matters, then they really need to show the thing that does... because when I get 3 hooked in less than 5 minutes by a killer 16 rank points higher than me yet do well vs. killers near my own rank, rank seems to matter a whole heck of a lot more than they seem to think it does.

  • I'm done. Just played my last game as a Rank 18 survivor - level 1 Claudette - with 1 yellow perk vs. a Rank 4 Killer. Was 3 hooked in less than 5 minutes. I just got the game a week ago ffs.

Fix this ######### system and maybe I'll be back.

    Bubba (level 36) -> Julie/Legion (27) -> Herman/Doc -> Adiris/Plague -> Michael -> Amenda/Saw -> Rin/Spirit -> Billy (Enduring/Lightborn)/Sally(all perks) -> Clown (Bamboozle) -> My Mains -> rest.

or should I switch some killers around?

Is it so easy now to get to rank 1? it was always a challenge for me with rin at rank 10~

Oh no - I'm only Rank 17 now. But MMR I guess reset this week or something, so I've been playing a lot of really good players that I probably shouldn't be playing against.

Quick update for everyone!! Thank you for watching! Yes i know it was short but we are going to go back and film more and make it a full length movie!!! It will be worth the wait! The sound will also be corrected!!

Nice - looking forward to it. Also, I don't think the critiques are necessarily on the length, but just that the whole thing was basically just an intro to the actual film that isn't yet released. Take it as a good sign: you left people unsatisfied yet hungry for more. :)

  • I'm in the same boat. For my first killer, I'm just leveling the one I like best. I tried Billy and Huntress at first - holy hell am I crap with them. Can't hit a Chainsaw to save my life - and apparently I'm crap with ranged attacks that have no crosshair!

I switched to Trapper, watched a few vids, and was getting 1-2 kills in games with Rank 1-9 survivors as a Rank 20. When the blind, drunk MMR system accidentally broken clocks its way to putting me against people of similar rank to me, I 3-4 kill every time.

    Trapper just speaks to me.

  • I just picked up the game myself last week. Yeah, I do not like the DLC model either. Cosmetic shop is fine, but only because I don't care about stuff like that. If I did though, I could see being a bit annoyed.

If I want to buy the game today, I'd have to pay about $20 for the base game - if I want to unlock the rest of the killers/survivors, I'll need to pay another $50 or so. I'm sorry, but no - $70 to access all the content for a 4 year old game of middling popularity...? Never gonna happen.

  • You know you're a Trapper Main when you hear that SNAP and SCREAM, especially when they're full health and fleeing you, and it's more satisfying to your ears than 5 Billy Chainsaws.

  • Yes. These are the forums of a video game. Complaining about things you don't like have no place here.

  • Eh, if they're gloating about an escape hatch survive, they're probably a big reason why the other 3 souls are the Entity's caviar. I'd just thank them and say: "Hope you're in my next game too."

Honestly if they were smart they'd do what Overwatch does. 10 placement matches and then it would assign you to a 'league' (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc) Right now with everything being invisible nobody knows how or why they're placing and that's not gonna help them in the long run. They have data on their side - cool - but what does that mean to a player, new or vet? Not a whole lot.

This is a grind game, and everything resets on the 13th of each month. (rank) So unless you play a ton there's no real way to keep survivor and killer at a high rank. You'll play one role a lot and drop rank on the other.

I highly recommend approaching this game like you have shiny object syndrome. Does it feel fun to do in the moment? Just go ahead and do it. Planning can lead to frustration when the other players don't cooperate. I'm just a tad experienced and I do my rifts killer side first because god forbid I bring a key into the match, that killer will be giving me the kissy face all match.

Obviously don't stress yourself out over the game. What I do is I have youtube open and Dead by Daylight as an icon on my hotbar and sit my mouse cursor on it and relax until I see the lobby fill in the minimized window. When you just focus hard on this game it can be a bit salt inducing.

Completely fair and reasonable. Honestly, I was having a lot of fun at first - who cares if you lose, it's pretty damn exciting. But now around my 20th game with basically no end of impossible games vs. 10x better players (most Rank 1-5, lowest I saw tonight was 8), it stops being fun because you start getting frustrated which makes you play even worse... and your already so far behind everyone skill-wise, if you aren't 100% sweaty and focused, you are a complete joke. I'll watch some vids, try again in a few weeks, hopefully after they fix the bugs in their system.

  • It's just the MMR system is clearly busted. No joke: I cannot be put in a game with players lower than Rank 8... and I'm Rank 19. I've had about 20 games between Killer and Survivor in my entire life, have never even been put into the same game as another player near my rank.

If there was literally no system at all and it randomly threw me in with players of any rank, at random, I'd probably have better games.

The system just clearly is doing the opposite of what it's intended - like when you lose bad, you must gain MMR.

  • Whatever system they had before couldn't be possibly worse than this.
