Who is your favorite killer to facecamp with? Do you run Insidious or do you actually want the other survivors to know you're face camping because what are they gonna do about it?

No way, with this they will only want to remove BT, which will keep DS
Eh, who are we kidding...
Next patch: "Survivors are apparently not winning the game in 5 minutes every time. To correct this bug, the Undying Perk is being removed from the game. An "Undying" charm that looks like a little hex totem has been added to all Killers to compensate.
-
IMHO Billy is the hardest killer for the least reward.
You pick up Billy for the first few times, you can't do anything.
Practice quite a bit, master cornering, master all the maps... you can be about as good as an average player playing an average killer.
-
His balance is fine. He's just not the most fun killer to play against because it's a little harder to outplay him than M1 killers.
Any tweaks should be a give and take on him - if his anti-looping skills take a hit, give him a big buff to his actual chase game.
-
I'm open to negotiating. Undying/Ruin for DS/BT.

I've never gone into the match as a new killer at red rank and thought i was going to get 1 hook, I don't think that's ever happened, I don't get why so many people make out like the killers are these complex characters with button hit combos you have to learn, they often function off one or two mechanics that are incredibly simple.
Well, you are clearly better at this game than most people are. Go you.
The rest of us are probably going to have bad games if we're playing a killer we don't know without good perks and without good add-ons.

Me too. At the rank I'm at with killer, I tend to face purple and red rank survivors, and the last thing I want to do is sweat my ass off tackling a killer that I've never played before.
Yeah..... you almost just have to go into a new killer at high rank with the goal of just getting 1 person on 1 hook 1 time... and no sweat if you don't. Just slot NOED and M1 at the end for a little drama. Bonus points if your Deathslinger and you catch a guy doing the teabag boogie in the end gate with a long shot.
-
Slightly off-topic, but not much.
For a killer, using a blighted hook gives you like 1000bp. Considering most matches, the blighted hook just happens to be far from where the action is (netting me nothing - like, literally, played a map where it spawned on the hook ontop of the central structure with a gen that got rushed in the first 2 minutes. like wut), even when it does get a little love, anyone else find the bonus extremely underwhelming? Like: "Why am I slotting this when I could slot a brown Hunting offering and get about 4k more easily."

Thana was not a buff, people were healing with thana in its old version and if they didn't then they had still that slowdown on gen speeds until they did, now they can just heal for free and get on gen with no reprocussion
Yeah, no idea what they were thinking with this one. Rather than a perk that gives the killer a guaranteed benefit, let's make it even more rewarding for survivors who are injured to heal themselves. Because, y'know, it's so rare that survivors who are wounded heal.
Besides, who the **** actually ran that perk anyway? I'm legitimately sad for like the 3 killers in a cabin in Canada who regularly ran Thana and hadn't yet heard there were like 20+ better choices already.
-
Eh, I don't mind Survivors using the tools at their disposal - I think the way the game scores killers is outdated and needs to be adjusted though.
I feel more than ever, the design of the game leads me to believe they expect a hard-fought 2k to be considered a win for a killer. I can take one of the best, most effective anti-loop killers, equip best add-ons and have a reasonable chance of 3-4King... but if you expect to play an M1 killer like Wraith, Billy or Bubba at high level and set the standard "3K or it's not a win"... you're going to be disappointed more often than not. Good loopers just run circles around Killers who can't break loops.
Yet, not only is a 2K almost never better than a safety, it's also very possible to depip. It's like, sorry, I got outplayed on one chase and now 3 gens are done... I guess I should be Rank 20? Meanwhile, there's such an abundence of survivors in Purple/Red ranks, that even Green Killers basically never see Green Survivors. At least this is my experience.
They need to be a bit more merciful on killers - the rating system hasn't evolved to the Survivor Bias I feel this game currently has.
-
I feel like it's OK for the killers to be under age, since - well - the killers do the killing, not the dying. Heck, the Halloween series has depicted kids murdering several times... and the Exorcist is a great example of allowing "a kid" to be absolutely horrifying.
Survivors are another story. I agree with an above poster - showing, like, the actual main kids from Stranger Things being gruesomely murdered would not be something I'd want in this game. Hell, even Nancy and Steve made me a little uncomfortable at first. I got over it quickly, but the characters were reasonably wholesome in the series... and sticking them on meat hooks or Moring them the first few times was a light shock to the system. Especially as Hag. Good lord her Mori is brutal.
-
Killer main. I am OK with the game being slightly geared toward Survivors. The problem, I think, comes with their scoring system. Ever notice when you get to Green Rank as Killer, your queues become near instant AND you basically never see any survivors who aren't Red or Purple? That's because there's a high ranking killer drought relative to the number of Survivors.
Looking at the scoring system, you can see why. The game is balanced survivor-side, but the scoring system still basically hammers a killer who basically doesn't do a 4K. Hell, I've had games where I've done a 2K, and I'll still depip. Literal 4K games the game rates as a "safety" because I got 5 minute gen rushed and did a NOED snowball. It's like, what??? Because perks like DS/UD exist, and its common that 3 out of 4 survivors run them, you frequently have to forgo a 2nd hook on someone and let them get back up... rather than picking them up immediately, eating a DS, and putting them right back in the game. By playing well, the game scores you as a worse killer.
I'm OK with it being more likely to 1k-2k than 3k-4k... but they really need to adjust what is required for a Killer to rank up, so they stop putting god tier Red 1-4 SWF teams against Rank 12 killers, and then depipping them when they fail to kill more than 2.
-
Hag main here. She's probably one of the hardest killers to balance, simply because if 1 player doesn't understand how to play around her, it can basically screw up an entire team. Think about one player not understanding you have to crouch-walk over traps to rescue people, or be rescued. It screws both players and this is why you get so many easy wins with Hag from time to time.
She's not like Billy where if you don't understand how his chainsaw works, but have the fundamentals down, you can still do OK. If you do not understand how to play vs. Hag, you have literally zero chance. And the game is not transparent *at all* in how to play against Hag.
At the same time, Hag is also an unpopular killer. I have never run into her once as a Survivor and I do about 20/80... so you don't see her much. You don't see her much, you don't learn how to play against her. Or you may even forget.
I don't think she's OP if Survivors know how to play around her. I think they need to address her from a knowledge point of view.

How often do you actually see Moris? I rarely see one in any of my games. I’ve probably gone up agaisnt them 5 times each and time the killer is garbage and we just genrush him. I just don’t see why they’re being talked about so much...
I can only speak anecdotally, but on my main killer, I'm sitting on dozens of Moris... they give them out like candy and I can safely say I really don't like using them. They result in short, low blood point games ontop of just feeling mean spirited. I still remember using one once and quickly finding the weak link in a fairly low rated game. Hooked her within a minute, someone did an unsafe unhook right in front of me like 5 seconds later w/o BT, I downed her again...
Mori, I guess? I slotted it, right?
Dead newbie, less than 2 minutes into the game. She got like 600 bps.
Really left a bad taste in my mouth. I just don't like to run them.
These event offerings, however, that give everyone a little bonus. I like these.
-
Works for me. After the latest round of killer nerfs, kind of inclined to just go AFK in any game where a survivor uses OoO and I'm playing an M1 killer. They can spend 5 minutes watching gen bars fill up, run around me to give me chase BPs and then leave at their convenience while I'm alt-tabbed watching Twitch.
I don't think the Devs are happy until every Survivor escapes 100% of the time.
-
Ahhhh. Did not realize that if you found a key in a chest, it didn't report on the end game screen.
Nevermind then. Thanks for clarifying.

Ruin Undying Tinkerer NOED
Basically, if you run even one of those you forfeit your right to talk about a survivor’s build.
Period.
see how stupid it sounds when you say people who run certain perks are not allowed to discuss the game’s balance?
Well, I don't run any of those 4... since I don't have Tinkerer or Undying, and Ruin is worthless without Undying.
And I'd rather lose than run NOED.
So I can comment on your small pp perks all I want, and tell you if you run small pp perks on Survivor, you don't get to comment about small pp perks on Killer. ;)
-
DS, DH, SB, UB, BT. SC.
Basically, if you run even one of those, you forfeit your right to talk about a killer's build. Period.
EDIT: Well, OK, you can still make a cheeky comment about NOED. But just 1. And it better be followed by "lol gg"
-
Baby Killers: "Giving Hatch is the most fun, sportsmanlike thing to do."
Killer after a Couple Months: "If I eat one more god damn DS and get teabagged from this god damn SWF... I'm Moring every last sumabitch I find for 5 games straight."
Just kidding. Today, last Survivor ran to the corner of the map to heal. I chased her, downed her... saw no hooks for like half the map. I was like: "Nope, F this..." and just walked over to the gate, let the survivor wiggle free, and just did Arts and Traps until she ran out. She had played very well all game.
-
Just bonus BP and maybe more generous Pip protection (if people actually care about that)... since it's much easier to have a bad game vs. SWF. I think that'd be swell.
Alternatively, just let me know I'm playing vs. a SWF. That way, I'll stop playing a meme build and/or slot powerful addons. Also, if the lobby looks extra scummy, I can step aside for a stronger killer that will give them a better match.
-
That concept probably couldn't work, but a killer with a vampire-kinda power - IE: mind controlling a survivor to do their bidding - could.
Example, Killer uses a power that requires eye contact. That Survivor then gets a red light and has a terror radius.
In the next 60 seconds, he needs to do one of 3 things: 1.) Inflict a wound upon himself, 2.) Inflict a wound upon someone else - via a quick 3 second heal (meaning they couldn't do this to someone who didn't let them) or 3.) Regress a gen by X amount by using a special 'sabatage' power.
If the survivor fails to do any of that, killer gets a permanent buff that's almost never worth it.
And you just add some things to make the power non-exploitable from the killer side, like "can't have it on more than 1 survivor, can't attack that survivor w/o cancelling the power", etc.
-
This thread is legit fascinating - I had no idea that Survivors were sometimes (maybe not all the times) communicating via this method. I don't camp, but I would on occasionally see this movement start up if I was patrolling close to one of my hooked survivors.

In high ranks it's just a super optimal squad that does all gens, 99s both gates and then messes with you as long as they can before EGC starts&ends or you give up. Or, if you manage to beat them, they all just DC at once (and if I remember, there's still an exploit through invitation system that allows 3 survivors to bypass leaving penalty). Very fun, yeah.
Yeah, in that case, not much you can do. To me, Bully SWF has a very particular profile. Basically 2-3 survivors who are good (relative to their level) at chasing, all armed with flashlights, just try and torment baby killers who don't understand some core mechanics. I ran into them a few times when I was first starting out, when I didn't know to face walls while picking a survivor up, didn't understand the difference between safe pallots and unsafe pallots, didn't understand Dumb Techs or how they worked... etc.
Nowadays, 3 people wanna try to Torment me, cool... that's 3 morons not working on gens, feeding me downs.
-
It's not something I'd do, but yeah, no one's gonna shed any tears for a SWF Streamer if you snipe him.
The few times I go up against streamers (who advertise in their names), I'll actually join their stream after the game and chat with them. They usually only have a small number of viewers, so it's pretty cool.

Oh, and that. Since most SWFs from my 4 year experience were trying to be bullies with all that tbagging and clicking crap, I would only be glad if they actually leave the game.
That happens only at really low ranks though.
Once I got above Rank 12, I never ran into a "bully SWF" in the sense of they just swarm the killer, taunting him, blinding him, trying to see how often they can pallot stun him... etc. or at least one that I didn't thank them for trying, when I had 1 person on hook and 2 people on the ground nearby. The only thing a Bully SWF makes me regret is not slotting Putrid Oak offering.
Forrest Gump: "Sometimes... thars jus' not enough hooks..."
And if they're in a situation where they've already won the game gates open, and wanna have their fun, just walk to an isolated area of the map far from both gates. That "bully sesh" will quickly go wrong for them.
Sweaty SWF comps may feel like bullying, but I don't consider tryharding bullying.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Why cant Killers accept that SWF does not mean that they become godlike players by just clicking a Button to invite other players to their lobby?
This is fair.
But a killer deserves to know its a SWF. It may not make you gods, but it makes you far more effective at tracking a killers movement and letting others know when it's safe to do things. A Killer should have a chance to slot his best addons and perks for the match. He shouldn't be hoodwigged into bringing his meme build with no add-ons against a Tac Ops squad.
Additionally, there should be a reward for killers who are up for the challenge. A BP Point increase, more Iridescent Shards contribution for the match. Something non-game breaking that may serve as just a little extra incentive.
-
It's a Dumb Tech for a reason. If the killer falls for it, they're dumb.
If after hitting a survivor, I truly cannot tell where they went, I usually just walk backwards and M1. Sometimes its because they did that, sometimes I just missed it... but I always check my own hitbox when I'm in doubt after a hit.

Why don't you tell that to all the people playing spirit/nurse/hag/oni/freddy/pyramid head with mori's at the higher ranks? Absolutely braindead killers that anyone can pick up and do well with.
It's pretty miserable for survivors, but effective for the killer. So I don't blame survivors for adapting. It's just playing to win. Nothing more.

-
A lot of survivors want to get into chases because of their build and playstyle.
I also play killers who don't benefit much from chases. (Hag, Trapper & Deathslinger). I frequently deny chases.
It does leave some survivors very confused, almost not sure what to do with themselves. It seems like they would rather do anything but generators though.
-
As a rule of thumb, I don't assume I'm a top tier player and slot perks to cover my weaknesses.
One of my favorite perks to run as Hag (my main) is Unrelenting. It's not meta... but, well, I miss attacks. Considering Hag's only way of damaging people is ultimately M1s, I do a lot of them. I lunge and fall for DHs. I Teleport a split second too late and arrive out of range. While I'm much better at dealing with 360s and wiggles, I still miss from time to time. Unrelenting makes your mistakes so much less punishing. You can whiff 3 times and still be right on someone's tail.
Obviously Unrelenting is a wasted perk on a good killer who almost never misses an M1... but when you miss a lot of them, it's S-Tier. :D
-
I don't say this lightly... but anyone who has spent the time to learn to play Nurse very well deserves to have an S-Tier killer at their fingertips.
You cannot nerf her unless you make her 10x easier to learn. No exaggeration.
I have tried Nurse a couple of times... *holy hell*. Words can't even describe how hard she is to play.
The only killer who is arguably more complicated and difficult to learn is Blight, though I've never played him.

I can't judge unless i know ur killer and the map and the circumstances.
But from what it seems, if you were vsing good survivors, then it makes sense that it would be alot harder to win ESPECIALLY without gen regressions. You know the universal pop, discordance, bbq and corrupt build? That is more than enough to give you the ability to win against almost any team. Can you imagine if you could consistently beat very good teams with bad builds and killers? What it would mean for every other part of the game?
Literally every tru3ta1ent video i see of him complaining about loosing I can pick apart many bad plays and ways he could have altered the outcome of the game, but instead people like him choose to focus on changing game balance, rather than rewatching their gameplay and looking for ways they could improve. You would be suprised the effects it has on ur ability to win games.
Also 4 hooks in 5 minutes isn't exactly an ideal hook to time ratio.
You said, "if you've hooked multiple people, you're in a fine position to hit a DS"... I just pointed out one instance where I have and I'm not in a good position to eat a DS, and you're kinda like: "Well play better (4 hooks in 5 minutes isn't ideal, but it's not like that's bad... hell I can go 2 minutes without even finding someone if I'm unlucky) and run meta perks."
Not entirely helpful.
The bottom line is, this meta isn't fun. Survivors only run second chance perks because why wouldn't they - they make a killer need to basically win the game twice in order to win. Meanwhile, Killers have no choice but to run gen regression perks and pray... otherwise, they have little to no chance of winning.

Leave them on the floor if you think they have ds, wastes plenty of time even if they have unberakable.
If you're running into ds after hooking multiple other people, then clearly you were in a good enough position that game to be eating a ds with no problem.
What about being on 1 gen, having only hooked 4 (one guy twice) leads you to believe I'm in a good enough position to eat a DS?
BTW: I'm not running meta perks because Survivors don't like those, so no Gen Regression. We're about 5 minutes into the match, 4 gens down, yall working on the last one because this game is fine.
-
I'll go away for a few days, maybe a week... all the while I'll get restless and twitchy...
Within 7 days tops, I will suddenly hiss, swat at my loved ones, run into my office, slam the door and try to murder 50 survivors for an entire day.
I then come out and am OK again... for 1-7 days.
I think I'm pretty much an average DBD player.
-
I have not read one good argument against DC penalties and still haven't.
Me thinks this is a very thin veil over someone who's bored for about 5-45 minutes after getting mad about being slapped and downed by a T1 Myers and took it out on his router.

But how many of those are new players that won't leave in a few days because of the grind, awful matchmaking, bugs, macrotransactions? I mean, the global steam achievements say loads about how many people stayed to play DbD in the longrun, considering that only ~14% of survivors and ~8% of killers reached rank 10.
I got the game for 7 bucks on sale a couple months back.
I've since added on $10 worth of Auric Cells for Premium Rift (got $5.50 back directly Rifts, spent those on Freddy + like 30 cosmetics, made it to level 44 on the tracker).
I've purchased two chapters when they were on sale for either 40 or 60% off, can't remember - Hag & Deathslinger (Believe it was about $7 combined)
I purchased Bubba when he wasn't on sale ($5).
In total, I've still paid less than $30 for a game that I've invested over an hundred hours into, with no signs of slowing... I've also got two great perks for my main killer (Hag), Monitor & Abuse/Make Your Choice for free via Shards... so I'm not even hitting a paywall running what I want to run.
How is this not fair?

Would love to, but for some reason, survivors with DS/BT never seem to want to leave me alone...
And considering how long DS lasts for, I can chase 2 people, bonk a gen, go AFK for a bathroom break, come back, see you teabagging me, down you, pick you up and STILL eat it.

Yeah, I don't quite get what's up with the matchmaking. I'm almost constantly going against Red survivors and I'm just rank 8. They queues are near instant though, so I doubt it's a "health of the game issue".

This is basically how I do my dailies with Wraith when I get them.
Also he has an uncommon addon that makes it impossible to tell the direction/distance of the bell, so that really helps a lot. You just uncloak behind survivors working on a gen from the direction they least expect and they practically run up and give you a hug.
That said, I still think Wraith struggles a bit though and needs a little love. He's the one killer who really gives up a lot for his stealth - I'd like to see more movement speed in stealth... or at least perks like SC & OoO cease to work while he's cloaked.

"Entity Displeased" does not comment on you as the player though?
you literally only get commented on directly when you did well as killer.
its like when you did well the game compliments you for doing so "you are a "Ruthless Killer", keep it up!" (survivors done have that), but if you dont do well it just tells you the outcome (the outcome being that the entity wasnt pleased with the match. there is no commenting on your playstyle whatsoever, they actually removed that some time ago - you have heard of the "Disgraceful Defeat", im sure).
there are only two realistic changes you could ask for for this system:
1) the game always comments on your playstyle - this would ensure you (as killer or survivor) getting complimented just like you do now as killer, however when you do badly it would also directly call you a bad player. so something like "Disgraceful Defeat" would replace the current "Entity Displeased".
2) the game never comments on your playstyle and only gives you the match outcome - this would mean that it would do what it currently does with survivors for the killer aswell. so your match would be scaled from "Entity Displeased" to something like "Entity Astounded"
so whats your point, you want survivors to get nicer messages when they escape? "breathtaking escape" for example?
are you sure this entire complaint isnt just you being mad that you lost? you dont seem to dislike any of the compliments given to you, however you seem to take great offense the one time the game does not compliment you.
the game isnt "rubbing it in", the game is simplly not complimenting you for once - because there is simply nothing to compliment. thats the thing you hate, you know you did really bad and therefore you know the game is going to tell you that in the result screen (thats what its there for after all - it gives you the results)
its got nothing to do with the message itself, its all in your head. they could replace that message with ANY "you lost" message and you would feel the exact same way, wouldnt you?
you dont have a problem with the message, you have a problem with you losing. and thats nothing this message can be held responsible for.
I'm not still mad after like 3 days, I can promise you that. :)
I am more genuinely interested in why "Entity Displeased" is a message for a bad killer game, which IMHO, is still basically "Your Bad And Should Feel Bad"... whereas for a Survivor, even if you run a chase for all of 6 seconds and kill urself on hook, you get the same message as if you'd carried your team and died saving 2 during the end game collapse.
And I totally acknowledge, Brutal Killer and Rutheless Killer are pretty complimentary. Why don't Survivors get a "kudos" type message when they played well, kinda like how someone proposed earlier.
It seems like a deliberate design choice they made.
-
Honestly, this is one of the few games where I think a little inbalance is good for it. It's far more important for killers to have a distinct feel and playstyle than it is for them to be as effective at killing survivors as every other one.
Myers may not be at the level of some, but others are beneath him and he does work at all levels, though he struggles a bit at the top. Maps also matter a lot for Myres - he wants ones with wide open areas, especially near gens... unless he's running jump scare build, in which case he wants an indoor map.
