A perk shouldn't be required to be able to play the game.

Love how, now that DS is worthless, killer mains everywhere are telling you to run it.

Most Killer mains had no problem with DS being used as an Anti-Tunnel Perk. What Killers had issues with was chasing someone, downing someone, hooking someone, chasing someone, kicking a gen, chasing someone, hooking someone... and then having someone 100% healed run up, unhook that survivor in your face, you play around BT, accept the trade, down the unhooker, pick him up...

    ... and eat a DS

Because nearly 2 minutes ago, you happened to hook the unhooker, completely forgot... and in the minute since he was rescued, he both healed up fully, then threw himself at you in a reckless unhook, abusing one "Anti Tunnel perk" so you'd eat another "Anti Tunnel perk".

The perk was stupid garbage. Glad its gone.

i already posted this but here you go again

Why would they even attempt an MMR System while leaving Playing Ranking in?

Most players do not understand the Devs "Master Plan"™ here. They see themselves at Rank 16 getting stomped by a Rank 2 killer, think the game is broken and stop playing.

    What are they thinking?

I don't criticise second chance perks on their own, I criticise the amount of them.

For example seeing every survivor either run Ds and UB, or DS dead hard.

That's what annoys me. The sheer amount of second chance perks you can stack.

Honestly, I think NOED is much stronger than any single second chance perk for Survivor. You're right, they can be comboed to greater effect... but to me, it's pretty much a line in the sand. Either you believe perks should exist that allow you to forgive your own bad play or they don't. The sheer number of people who say: "NOED is OK, but DS isn't" or vice versa makes my brain hurt since they fundementally do the same thing... and it's just clear killer or survivor bias.

  • I don't disagree, but you can't say NOED is well designed if you give DS, DH, BT, UD and basically any other "Second Chance" perks criticism.

Likewise if you defend these Survivor meta perks that basically carry you through bad play, you don't have a leg to stand on in criticizing NOED.

NOED allows a killer to play like garbage, yet make up for it in the end. It's basically a Second Chance perk for killer.

  • He definitely clashes with the aesthetic of some of DBD's older maps. He just seems real odd running around something like Autohaven Wreckers or the traditional maps. His color palette almost clashes and he looks like a cartoon character.

I'd like him more if a brighter, very different style map was released with him.

As far as who this killer actually is and the lore behind him, however, yeah they knocked it out of the park. This guys horrifying.

  • I can't even imagine a situation where the current DS/OoO nerfs would be enough to derank someone.

For all those Survivors who get unhooked, immediately tap a gen... then chase the killer trying to get his attention? Yep, guess that would do it... if the killer saw you tap that gen. lol

  • Have they rotated?

I felt it's pretty much been:

    Killer nerf

    Killer nerf

DS and OoO have stats and stuff. They're fine.

    Killer nerf

    Killer nerf

Survi- Just kidding, DS and OoO have stats and stuff. They're fine.

    Killer nerf.

    Killer nerf.

    Killer nerf.

DS and OoO have stats and stuff. They're fine.

    Killer nef

Bug fix. "Killer nef" was spelt wrong. It's meant to be "Killer Nerf"

Throw blood points at Killers to try and reduce 10-15 minute survivor queues.

Fine. DS and OoO are nerfed. Even though we have STATS. HAPPY?! Now plz play killer again so survivors can play.

But we're taking Undying too. KILLER NERF.

  • As I've always said: sounds good...

I love how they edit the video out because they don't want this obscure bug running rampant....

    Body Blocking... at a hook?

No, that's not toxic... that's a dumb check. 95% of the times it happens to me, it's a free hit and I just hook anyway.

Once in a blue moon, they do it right at the end of my struggle and it actually pays off. Worse odds than a flashlight save though, and that don't happen often.

  • Not gonna lie - I was curious about her Twitter feed. That was my first mistake.

Why is it that people who work in gaming have this anathema toward keeping their professional lives professional and not using their personal twitters filled with their personal politics for both work and socializing? She's not the only one.

I'm not even that politically different from her, but when your 3rd post down is a retweet directed to "White Allies" instructing them to "do more"... I just throw up a little in my mouth and exit gracefully.

  • @Moxie said:

To apologize like that is to admit they made a mistake.

That is not going to happen. They are already doubling-down on the UI change with not_queen saying "we cannot go back".

    This.

There's something to be said for sticking to your artistic vision... but when you're changing an iconic UI for an iconic game, you'd have to be a fool not to be flat out impressed and - frankly - flattered by how much unexpected love the old UI had, and want to make fans of the old UI happy.

They just literally couldn't care less about it, and that's both surprising and sad.

  • @PGJSF said:

My inner skeptic tells me that ship long since sailed.

If the Twins Chapter release didn't serve as a firecracker under their asses, nothing will. And they've doubled down on everything they did wrong then.

  • The UI is not horrible, but the developers egregious disregard of the overwhelmingly negative feedback it got all throughout PTR and beyond was.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

I feel that the revealing your aura every 30 seconds thing is strange and completely unnecessary. Otherwise it's a perfect rework.

I think this is to insure the Survivor gets some value from it every game.

If the killer isn't running aura perks, you'll effectively have a useless perk otherwise.

It's much more fair than being able to see the killer anytime they freaking want just by facing them (and giving Killer 1st person FoV, you may not even get to see them using it).

  • Flashlights work with powerful add-ons from that angle. That's been in the game forever.

Not that that survivor needed to in this instance... the killer in the clip literally faced the most open direction they could have to pick up that survivor. Unless 2 survivors are tag teaming a killer, both with flashlights, you need to mess up pretty badly to give a Survivor a flashlight save.

  • @Karao_Ke said:

It would take a lot of add-on, perk, and even power reworks to remove instadowns forever. Therefore, they most certainly are not going to remove them entirely from the game.

But I will say due to popular demand, Huntress might get hers taken away. The ONLY thing I think they might do to keep her instadown is her having to hit someone with her hatchet from a certain distance apart for it to work, similar to Deathslingers Iri Coin add-on.

I am genuinely shocked that Iri heads outlived Moris.

  • Sorry. Survivor mains are starting to whine about Franklins. Killers are starting to defend it.

The result: Franklins will be nerfed to uselessness soon.

I'm pretty sure 99% of all cheater accusations are boogus anyways. I got called a hacker over the weekend for using a PH's Final Judgement on a survivor because I mori'd a survivor without a mori offering.

    Seems legit.

That's who the devs listen to when Survivors call for killer nerfs.

  • Considering the original Alien is simply a Haunted House Horror Movie in space... I'm 100% on board with it. Especially if they give him the pyramid head treatment and give Alien a unique hooking mechanic... basically stringing them to a wall with an egg sac nearby.

But yes, if its owned by Disney, good freaking luck. Disney is an IP blackhole: anything that goes in doesn't come out again.

I'm writing this because I just received a 12 minute ban simply because I lagged out of a match. This is totally unfair I've intentionally disconnected maybe at the absolute MOST 5 times in the 3 or 4 years I've been playing it. Why in the world should I get punished the way others who intentionally try to ruin the game for others do due to a simple network error. Is it impossible to tell the difference between someone actually hitting the quit button and accidentally lagging out? I 100% doubt that, please someone fix this.

You do realize lagging out ruins the game for 4 other people, no matter what your role is?

And you're whining about the "injustice" a 12 minute ban.

Stop playing online games until you fix your stupid crap.

  • I think the learning curve does that well enough.

My God, I really would need to have a couple of good friends or a stranger who wouldn't judge create a Custom Game and let me practice trying to make the Chainsaw work for me instead of against me for several hours before I'd ever try to show my face in a public game again after the 2 and only 2 times I ever took Billy out.

Bubba was ridiculously easier to figure out.

  • Sorry that you feel bullied. I don't think that's the intention of most in this thread, though I can only speak for myself. I'm clearly frustrated at the direction you're taking in a lot of things and that frustration will sometimes manifest in a snarky/sarcastic post - as evidenced by above - but that isn't meant to be directed at anyone in particular or hurt anyone's feelings.

That said, I think there's a general level of concern over a game all of us here are - hopefully - passionate about. And I'm genuinely wondering how much longer the Survivor queue needs to get before you acknowledge there's something wrong with playing Killer in this game. A horror game where 4 people have to survive against a literal killer... and not enough people want to be the killer to keep things in a healthy place? What? How?

And I only say that because I genuinely believe that's the only metric that will make you sit up a little straighter at this point. It seems the only thing that gets you to take action is if the survivor experience is impacted... such as killer being so boring that not enough people play it, making survivor queues too long.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

The devs will probably come out and say "DS is not a terribly effective perk."

Dev: "UUUHHHHH according to the spreadsheet/stats I have here.... at higher levels of play, DS doesn't actually do anything! Killers tend to leave anyone they hit who's just been hooked in the last minute on the ground and not even pick them up whether they have DS or not! Since Survivors dont even get to USE DS, we should BUFF it if anything."

  • It's cool. I'll be the better person and feel sorry for you.

You already have a 10 minute Survivor queue.

Once the Mid-Chapter patch goes live and they put Undying into the ground, pretty sure that's going up.

And since Undying will be gone, pretty sure you're going to spend more time in queue than in game on average. 😜

  • This doesn't really answer the question of how I can hook a survivor, spend about 1 minute chasing others while that first survivor gets unhooked, chase another for 30 seconds. Find the first survivor 20 seconds after that... down them, pick them up - nearly a full 2 minutes after I did anything to them - and get punished by an "Anti-Tunnel perk".

I've literally left the moron alone for around 2 minutes! What more do you want from me?

Funny too: literally the one good thing your new UI could do was let the killer know who has been hooked - y'know, to help remember crap like this - and you decide to not let the killer see that information and keep it Survivor-Side only. 🤣🤣🤣

  • Their top and only priority is to rush out DLC and microtransaction content as fast as possible.

Once they actually went for the EA standard and released a broken killer without parts of her kit intact, intending to patch it later - and most of the survivor/killer perks not actually working when they released it - I lost all respect for the company.

  • As the guy above said, it depends on a few things - also depends on your rank. SWFs are more likely to be higher rank, so if you're a Red 1 killer, you'll see them a lot more often than you would as a lower rank.

  • I loved the game.

They've been going on the wrong direction for awhile now. Their focus is clearly on releasing DLC as fast as possible. They don't actually care about the health.

The few things they are fixing aren't broken (lol ui?), meanwhile bugs that have been around since the last DLC released have still not been addressed. Hell. first time ever, they released a killer with her kit incomplete and later patched it in.

That alone shows where their priorities are: They just want the game to be good enough to keep the hardcores buying cosmetics and DLCs. If you aren't having fun, go play something else for a few months... come back for the next DLC. It'll be a super fun killer to hard counter and play against. 😜

  • @Huge_Bush said:

No amount of Blood Points will encourage players to play killer more on a consistent basis. Most have BBQ to farm points and there is a limit to how much harassment one can take. Maybe if they gave out shards, but even then, cosmetics that can be purchased with shards are rather bland except for the holiday stuff.

I always felt that Ebony Moris should have been reworked to be an anti-bully tool. No longer an offering, but something Killers keep in their inventory. Killer can opt to burn 1 Ebony Mori per game to make someone instantly killable (even after 0 hooks) after a 5 second taunting animation (like Trapper running the back of his machete over his throat). The number of which you need to burn goes up depending on how often that particular Survivor gets flagged for Mori - it also triggers a cooldown.

Someone who hardly ever gets flagged for Mori would consume up to 5 depending on the ratio. Also Killer can't burn another Ebony Mori for 1 hour per charge consumed. This would mean just rage-Moring would be extremely costly and not something you could do often.

Someone who gets flagged for Mori much more often than the average survivor would consume as little as 1 without any cooldown.

Killer doesn't know ahead of time how much Moris would cost to prevent abuse.

If this mechanic were to go in place, I think you'd see *a lot* less bullying/toxic gameplay, as I know I would only use Moris on clickers/teabaggers... and I think the vast majority of killers like me who were sitting on dozens of Ebony Moris, never really feeling the want/need to run them, would probably do the same.

  • @Chchchcheryl said:

There's a difference between someone being forced to take a free ticket for tunnel town and taking one by choice, one is unfair, the other is!!

There's a difference between "not being able to take it" and the killer unfairly exploiting it to tunnel a survivor, whilst there's nothing that says tunneling is wrong, reverse object completely destroys 50% of survivor gameplay (if it's not the survivors choice)

Plus with an obsession switching perk it basically becomes unlimited wall hacks, really REALLY unbalanced on Freddy with survivors in the dream world!

Yes - sounds like a perk that completely nullifies your playstyle wouldn't be fun to play against!

BTW: Trapper, Hag, Ghostface, Wraith & Pig all say hi.

  • Pretty much any absolute is wrong, but yes, I tend to find more toxic people playing Survivor than Killer.

There's also 4x more Survivors than Killers per game.

So yeah, unless Killers were more than 4x more likely to be toxic than Survivor, you would never find more toxic killers than Survivors. :D

  • I honestly suspect it was a change aimed to improve Baby Survivor experience. I don't see many killers above Green slotting Moris. I have dozens, haven't used one in months. Maybe it's a thing in the lower ranks.

But seriously, guys, optics. You publish a broken, early release state killer who has to basically camp, slug and play like a scumbag to have a chance. You nerf Pop but not DS... you now gut Moris but not Keys... it seems like you have something against killer players at this point. What's next? Hex Totem rework that makes it so they're attached to Survivors' back and when the killer attacks one, he breaks it himself?

  • Weak needs a bit of an astrisk. Streamers are putting on a clinic regarding this killers raw power... at camping. You think scoring a basement hook as Trapper can snowball, wait until you have Victor camping on the floor above, letting Charlotte know the second any survivor comes within, what, 16 meters of the basement entrance.

Switching to Victor is quick, and you can easily score it a hit before the survivor even gets into the basement... and by the time they unhook, Charlotte basically forces the trade automatically.

It's a garbage way to play, but it is about the only thing this killer can do with half her tool-kit still under development.

  • Literally everything about this chapter is abysmal. How is this company not utterly mortified at how bad this DLC is.

  • @Unicorn said:

I respect the company but as I said before, they can - and with all due respect - take this chapter and shove it up their asses. They released a bugged, incomplete product that they knew was bugged and incomplete. They didn't care.

  • Apparently their bug fix patch notes also have bugs.

Stats were nothing to do with MMR though, the system doesn't measure statistics in the slightest - it's way more complex than that, as is any MMR that's in a game. And MMR in a game like DbD is always going to be difficult to implement.

(and I also never mentioned stats, but data - the two things are not necessarily the same).

It is worth pointing out, my first experiences with DBD - when I got it on a sale on Steam this summer, coincidently right when the MMR system came out... was being a rank 20 with 0 hours played being thrown up against a Rank 1, a rank 4 Killer and then a rank 3 killer.

I switched to Killer, and faced 3 rank 1-4s and one purple. Don't even think I got a single injure... afterwards even the Survivors felt so bad they apologized for it.

It seems like your MMR system went out of its way to find the worst possible matches it could for me.

I don't know whether you have an issue with stats or an issue interpreting what those stats mean, but forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to defenses of your methodology.

  • I admit, I read that and chuckled. It wasn't even worth complaining about.

The perk allowed you to do a bad Pig Lunge once per completed gen. It was a gimmick perk to begin with I wouldn't run in anything but a meme build... and they made it even worse for reasons. OK. lol

  • Mori too.

Not because it's needed. Because you're making a point. ;)

  • As a Killer Main, this is how I'm avoiding stress this weekend:

    Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

Maybe next weekend, we can switch off Second Chance perks. Y'know, just to "test things out." :)

  • It would definitely be a buff to killer but I think it'll lead to less interesting gameplay.

If they have to do something, I would much rather remove the ability to 99% a gate... as I think that effectively gives the Survivors best of both worlds. The gate is open for all intents and purpose, but they can decide when the End Game collapse is triggered. Maybe make the gate regress at the same speed it opens at if a Survivor doesn't attend it. Maybe you can cap regression at 50-75%... make it not so bad as to require it to be reopened from zero, but you have to spend a few seconds finishing it off... making the play for extra time just a bit more risky.

Honestly though - I think the end game is fine the way it is and no real changes need to be made. Other than maybe NOED, I'll admit, even as a killer main, I find this perk distasteful and anti-fun. I'll run it when I'm learning a new killer just so I have the ability to make the last 1-2 minutes interesting... but I could never see myself running it on a killer I felt even slightly comfortable on.

  • @TAG said:

    1) All of it. I would go down to being a 115% M1 killer.

    2) See above.

    3) I know Pig isn't strong. Not the point I'm trying to make.

OK, fair enough - you're essentially saying you think Pig is worse than Twins as is. Don't think you're gonna get too many people agreeing with you, but you're entitled to your opinion.

  • @TAG said:

"Knocking out 1 survivor from doing gens was a small price to pay to literally turn Charlotte into an M1 Killer with no power."

As a Pig player, I strongly disagree. I would MORE than gladly trade my power if it means that there is one person on the team who is voluntarily locking themself into being only marginally more productive than a Rank 20.

    Couple of things:

1.) Which power would you trade? Yes, maybe the Bear Trap part might be reasonable, though assuming every survivor has to visit 2 and a half jigsaw boxes on average after their first hook, I think Pig's power is stronger overall... in the amount of time it forces survivors to not do gens and put themselves at risk. Even if it feels bad when they rando the first box, they'll just as often spend 2 minutes running to all 4.

2.) Even with Bear Traps gone, she's not just an M1 Killer. She has crouching - turning certain low-wall safe loops on every other killer into unsafe loops is noteworthy - stealth and lunging as well in addition to M1ing. So it's not quite Apples to Apples.

3.) Even with all this in consideration, it seems most people agree, Pig isn't very strong right now. She's not bad, but she could use some gentle buffs.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

That's a 50 hour rank 15 fix. Being able to kidnap Victor for 45 seconds at a time was the problem in and of itself. Certainly not the solution. There's zero lethality to Charlotte. That's literally why you would kidnap Victor in the first place. It wasn't just about how long you could do it for. It had a lot to do with the fact that it was optimal to do so in the first place. They still haven't addressed that, and 45 seconds is beyond generous. That's 1 1/2 gens.

The best comparison I can come up with is Plague.

Plague and Twins both have one thing in common: Survivor can choose to deny the killer the use of their power.

If you choose to do this against Plague: every survivor has to play the game wounded, no survivor can heal, every survivor is far easier to detect, every survivor randomly gets hindered... and Plague STILL gets to choose to use their power 1 time. The power being impactful enough to easily win the game.

If you choose to do this against Twins: one survivor can't work on gens, one survivor has to play the game wounded, one survivor can't heal, one survivor is not easier to detect for 45 seconds, one survivor doesn't get hindered... and Charlotte's only 'counterplay' is to give up and recall Victor after 45 seconds.

    Which consequence feels more impactful?

Now, I admit, Plague does have a slower speed and that does count for something... but c'mon. Chase a survivor long enough, they'll puke and make up for that. The difference is just night and day.

1 2 3 4 5 … 10
