  • One way that will help: Stop trying to get Undying/Ruin nerfed.

You do realize that combo literally does nothing for a killer who face camps? It's literally only effective if the killer is pressuring gens and not camping.

That goes away, Killers will have little to no choice but to facecamp games they're behind on and hope Survivors make blunders - since this combo is about the only way killers are currently able to pressure gens vs. good survivors.

  • Being upfront was the best way. Not sure what effect they're testing - maybe the impact of bloodlust on the mortality of low skill rank survivors?

I can tell you even starting in green, if you're spending enough time chasing 1 survivor to actually miss bloodlust, playing killer must not be an enjoyable experience... because you're probably only gonna have like 3 hooks by the time the gens are done.

  • That works fine for me: Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity just came out.

A weekend off from DBD seems like it'll do the soul some good.

BTW: I get this is a joke post. Hope they get all the info they need from the test.

  • NOED is the perk I run when I'm learning a new killer.

This games probably not gonna be great, but at least I'll make the last couple of minutes interesting.

  • I joined when they rolled out that wonderful, zero issue MMR system this summer.

Rank 1 killers with over 4000 hours in the game vs. my zero experience Rank 20 ass with 1 yellow perk.

Switch over to killers, play 4 rank 1-4 survivors as a Rank 20. I literally got apologized to after the game by them when I don't even think I wounded one all game, much less hooked.

After they took that down, I think they've just shelved the idea. There is no match making system in this game. They just throw random people together within 10 ranks of each other and hope for the best.

  • His reaction will probably be: "MMRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!"

That's Myersspeak for: "You have just activated my trap card."

  • In all truthfulness, not really sure what they're hoping to see here.

If killers see bloodlust kick in often, they've probably already screwed up and have been chasing 1 survivor too long. Don't care what Ruin/Undying/Pop combo you're running - if you're committing to chases that last a minute while all 4 are alive and not relying on catching survivors out of position and scoring quick hits/downs, gens will be popping like crazy.

  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity just came out today...

... think I'll be doing something else with my weekend other than losing chases around god loops. Good luck with your test!

  • I'd love for them to take a cue from Hades, actually - you have like 6 weapon choices. To encourage you to try them all, even ones you find less powerful than others, they tie a random bonus to currency you get if you slot them.

Each week, they could pick the bottom 10 least played perks from and add a small bonus to slotting them. Maybe like stacking +5% Blood Points gain, tailed after the game. Do a run with 4 out of the 10, it would get +20% Blood Points gained. Then have daily and tome challenges revolving around using one or more of the bottom 10.

"Unusual Technique: Survive a match using 4 Unorthodox Perk Choices."

Wouldn't be worth it to some, but might be to others. Anything that shakes up the meta just a little isn't a bad thing.

  • Victor will down the survivor in 20 seconds if not removed.

Victor's aura is visible while he's on a survivor.

Victor Hinders the survivor, survivor can't vault, drop pallets or rescue anyone from hook.

Devs, pick 2 out of 3 of these and make them happen. This killer is a joke.

  • @jjb985 said:

Since instances are warranted tho if you are on a hook solo and 3 others are swf and not even attempting to get you what's the point?

If your teamates sand bag you , body block you or troll what's the point?

If the killer on first hook is already face camping what's the point?

If you really wanna keep people from suicide on hook then they need to up the points for the length you are on the hook , then double the struggle points etc try to give an incentive to hanging in there. Bp is the only thing worthwhile if the teams garbage I'd rather leave now and get a normal match if I had inventive to stick around even in a bad match I wouldn't suicide. I only solo play also so I don't care about my team because 9 / 10 games I'm the one dead whether I did all the gens got all unhooks even if it's my first hook they all leave.

I'll say this: if the killer isn't camping and the other survivors let you go to stage 2... you're 100% justified in not struggling. That's fair.

If the killer is camping though, you make him wait every second... and hopefully appreciate the fact your allies aren't dumb enough to pay off the strategy and are just working on gens until you die to make your death count against him.

  • @Storm000 said:

Well I rarely sacrifice in the hook but when I do it is because the killer is camping really hard and basically won't let me have any kind of fun so I cba, kill myself, forget about that match and play another game.

I've found the best thing you can do there is to stay on hook as long as you can to spite the killer.

1.) If he's facecamping, every second you stay on it costs him blood points and pips (as proximity to hooked survivor gets dinged really hard). If he basically stays camping 1 survivor for the full 2 minutes, he'll get 0 points for that medal.

2.) If you stay the full 2 minutes, that's conceivably 3 gens your team does... which again dings his bottom line hard as killers who let gens get done quickly lose points to another medal.

3.) He's getting no chase EXP for 2 whole minutes unless other survivors are hovering. Which hits his 3rd medal hard.

4.) If you have Kindred - especially if you have Kindred - you are helping your allies immensely by being on hook. They can see each other to heal, they can see where the killer is if he's camping.

5.) You might yet get rescued underneath his nose by a teammate with Borrowed Time and still be in the game.

You wanna get back at the killer? Make him wait every second for his sacrifice. Sacrificing yourself just gives him what he wants and screws over your other 3 teammates.

  • Yeah, it's real bad depending on what day/time you are queuing.

IMHO, there is an extreme drought of High Rank killers in DBD that play in North America during weekday evenings on PC... so they'll frequently throw any killer who queues up against Red Ranked Survivors who've been waiting 5-10 minutes.

My killer queues are pretty much instant in the evenings during the weekday. Only time I wait is weekends. The trade off is if you wait, the matches are usually a little closer to your rank, not that it matters a whole heck of a lot.

  • I play a farm build on my main to at least get a new killer up to level 40. That way you can at least learn to play them with an array of decent builds. That's honestly optional though - if its someone like Nurse, whether you go in with 4 purple perks and a meta build with great addons on 1 yellow perk and your pud as add-ons, you're going to have a bad game.

Just set the bar really, really low for yourself. That's really all you can do.

They're going to all get away. Just get some blood points and try to be a tiny bit better with the killer after the match than you were before. That's all you can do.

  • If she launched as is now, just cleaned up bugs? F for sure.

Watching Streamers play as them is painful and watching Survivor mains play against them is funny for a little bit, then just sad.

  • A little too much doom and gloom in this thread.

1.) The Killer concept is just amazing and wonderfully unique.

2.) The Killer is super fun to play against.

That's 2 out of 3 of the most important things. They just need to iron out the killers design and insure the killer's fun level to play is a little closer to the level it is to play against. A few well-placed buffs are all you need: first one I'd do - the same animation on Victor when he's being controlled or when he's just standing still. Let that be a mind game killers can play.

Survivors can dive into lockers all they want for temporary safety... but then they have to decide whether Big Sis is coming for them, or if Victor is just waiting patiently.

  • Ehhhhhh....

If we have to dip our toes into comic book land (really though I'd just rather not), I'd rather something that at least fits the horror theme a bit better. Scarecrow could be interesting - though you'd have to avoid making him feel like a lazy merger of Doctor and Clown, or maybe Violator from spawn. Sad that we already have Clown though... so maybe just a Violator Skin for clown? :D

I think it might fit. Shao Kahn is a sadistic over lord, and could fit with a scarier redesign.

Sure, it's definitely not "Hello Kitty" off-brand... I'd get over it... but I would say MK is a fighting franchise, not a horror franchise. It has more in common with Street Fighter, and I don't think anyone would really go to bat for M. Bison being a good fit to follow.

  • Yeah, this is one where they swung for the moon in the "creative design" and "fun to play against" catagory while 100% forgetting the killer also has to be fun to play as or no one's gonna freakin' do it.

Watching Streamers stream as the killer is just depressing after the initial baby lunge hilarity wears off. They only have fun when streaming gameplay against Twins.

I think the sobering moment to everyone is where you try to leap to places where you can't normally go... and then just die. I get the Devs said it's a technical limitation, but it comes off like: "Ah, trying to have fun as killer, I see? Yeha, no. Get clapped."

  • It would be a little too off-brand for my tastes, but I'd get over it if he was fun to play as and against.

  • Yeah, I don't get breakable walls. There's only a handful that I'll break, ones that clearly need to be broken to make a completely safe loop unsafe. Maybe I'm missing something, but they just seem like they were added to be speed bumps for killers in a game where the Survivors don't need them.

  • The issue I'm seeing more and more, the more I see Streamers play her, is that Twins are far more fun to play against then with.

You got counterplay up the yingyang, you got "Baby Yeeting" counters, you got Locker Dancing - every single aspect of Twins kit can be played around rendering her 100% ineffective against coordinated survivors and strong chasers.

Outside of the initial few baby lunges... everyone actually playing as the killer just seems like they're not having fun. The latch on is pathetically ineffective (probably needs to be 3x longer to get rid of to even be noteworthy). They've somehow managed to make a status effect even less inconveniencing than Deep Wounds. The baby latch on stops you from leaving if the gates are open, but it's such a joke - you just run against the wall and wait for the killer to hit you, when you collapse and fall down, you automatically escape. It's like wut is the point of this?

Also, the baby's lunges are so easy to play around it's pathetic. You just literally loop a tree, a gen or ... the baby itself... and he can't seem to hit you. It feels like trying to hit a survivor running around you with your hatchet as Huntress, only with half the hitbox. Then when he inevitably misses, you kick him and collect BP.

And honestly, 2 of Twins perks flat out suck... one perk is literally: "give Survivors more chests, but you get detection when they open them". It's like "Wut." I know it could be useful for detection, but c'mon. Who would run that over BBQ & Chili or basically any other detection perk - those do the job and ALSO don't give survivors things. The 3rd, the Lunge one, is interesting I guess. I could see myself running it in a meme build, I suppose.

I'm looking forward to Twins going live, playing against her will be a blast. No idea why I'd buy her myself though.

same i stopped caring about everything bad about this game and it's suddenly so good

i have to say though watching strimmers play it is more fun than playing it myself because it is stressful

I find myself in this uncomfortable spot as well.

Like I want to play the game, but watching it is almost just as fun and INFINITELY less stressful.

"I can either sweat to kill a few or pop open a beer and watch 2-3 Tru Videos and relax."

  • Watching Streamers play him, I'm not exactly sure how best to use Victor honestly. I think the most powerful part of him is the tracking he provides when not controlling him, so you park him nearish to a hook and can immediately tell when someone's coming for the rescue. Or a gen that's nearly done.

I need to see better killers than me play him more. He seems really hard to use to deal damage though and you're right, the latch on doesn't really seem to do much.

I think he needs an M1 attack (if he doesn't - haven't seen any streamers use it if he has one), as it seems the best thing you can do is 360 him... it's like trying to hit a Survivor in melee running around you with a hatchet for Huntress. If she couldn't M1, that would be the easiest way to play against her.

I'd say a better combo than what op suggested is unbreakable + flip flop + power struggle + Soul Guard

You just need a friend to stall for some time and can actually purposefully die at a pallet to stall for time, as silly as that sounds. The friend's presence should be enough to stop the killer from instantly picking the downed survivor up.

In a few seconds if picked up, the downed survivor will have 25% wiggle or more. Presumably, the survivor can then get a free escape. Even if the killer anticipates the setup, there's little the killer can do (without its own setup to counter it) except bleed the survivor out for 4 mins, or take the pallet stun and free escape.

With Unbreakable + Soul Guard, it's basically a free escape no matter what the killer does as long as a friend applies pressure. We could soon be having 'pallet stand-offs'.

Yeah that combo is pretty sick too.

I honestly love Tenacity even now - I think it's one of the most underrated perks in the game. You really just need a few seconds of diversion - the killer sees one other person and gives a half hearted chase, and they can spend a surprisingly long time trying to find you. It also basically guarantees a killer who respects DS will not be able to pick you up unless he camps you.

With this combo, I see Tenacity allowing a Survivor - with a couple seconds diversion - crawling to a pallet easily and being able to get the wiggle process they need to activate PS immediately upon being picked up, especially if combined with UB.

Lets see, Mori, Enduring/Spirit, Blood Favor, Mori, Bleed Out, Agitation to fake out the pallet drop, Mori

Oh if they give Agitation a reason for existing outside of a meme basement build, I'd love it.

I suspect baiting Power Struggle is not going to be a thing they'll want to exist, so it'll only be an option to press when the killer is stunnable. Kinda like how DSes only counterplay is simply don't pick anyone up after they've been hooked. We'll see how it plays out.

Well Either way any change to survivor and killer meta seems beneficial for everyone.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1740381#Comment_1740381

Did you try with PGTW or overcharge?

I actually agree - It feels like the meta is literally the only thing holding the game together. That's not a good place to be.

What they're going to eventually need to do, in order to keep this game fresh OR stop power creep from happening is they have to make the "mandatory perks" DH/DS/BT base line for all survivors... revamp Hex Totems and the kicking Mechanism for killer... and rebalance the entire game to account for these.

Undying was an example of just raw power creep. Killers needed a way to slow the game down, so they got a perk that's just hands down better than any other perk in that it actually makes hex totems at least 2x harder to get rid of.

  • I'm in the same boat as Nick. I honestly didn't find a single one of them eye opening.

I'm not saying they outright suck, but I see nothing in them that would shake up the meta... the meta perks for killer aren't so much fun to run, as just nessecary in order to even have a chance against strong teams.

Power struggle can only be used once and has to be used once and has to be combo'd with flip flop to be useful. lets be real what killer is going to walk under a pallet WHILE carrying

I do it all the time when I'm reasonably sure Survivors aren't in position. Killer shack front door is a good example of one that's almost always safe to walk through. It's ultimately going to be another perk that every killer is going to have to play around now, whether survivors have the perk or not. I really dislike perks like that.

  • Even without flip flop, Power Struggle looks really unfun for killer... like DS, it'll be another perk you have to play around even if they don't have it because discovering they do is too punishing.

Once this goes live, killers are now no longer allowed to walk through pallets now on the way to a hook.

With Flip Flop, this is going to become a nightmare. I guess they just wanted to make it so you can no longer slug under any circumstances.

  • @Mercês said:

Also: devs, can we talk about perk variance?

Hey, 1 Survivor didn't run DS. Must have been a FTP noob.

  • If they slot any of those combos + DS, I just wish Survivors would get a small radius where the Super Mario invincible song plays for 1 minute after being unhooked. At least that would be a delightful experience for everyone involved while emphasizing the point.

  • I have the observational awareness of a Jedi and the accute mental agility of Albert Einstein. I not only can see Survivors if they give me an inch of skin, I know where a Survivor is going to be WELL BEFORE they even know where they're going to be.

Hell, I'll stand there waiting for them to come and when they don't, and they 5 gen me and escape, I'll still be standing there and I'll yell at them after the game: "YOU WERENT WERE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE. LEARN TO PLAY."

  • I don't even get the point of the ranking system if a Yellow rank goes up against 2 Rank 1s with no one lower than him.

  • As a Killer, I wish they would rework Moris to no longer be an offering, but to be this:

During a match, you may use a command to mark a survivor you are looking at for death (burning one Mori in your inventory). This ability goes on cooldown for a number of matches proportionate to how often that survivor gets marked for death or DCs.

Meaning, if you're just using it for a boost in a game you're losing and arbitrarily pick a survivor who doesn't normally get chosen (IE: someone who is not toxic), you won't be able to burn another for several matches. If you designate a survivor who is toxic (and frequently draws this kind of attention), you'll be able to do it again as early as the next match.

"Oh, you wanna Tbag me?" *activate Mori, Survivor becomes Moriable after first hook* "Now it's on."

It would make Moris so much better and more satisfying to use.

  • Mori game.

Not that it really makes me feel *much* better, but hell, I have more of them than any other Offering by far... and if they're not for making the next lot of survivors experience a miserable game after you got sent to Haddenfield by a toxic SWF with OoO, what the hell is it for?

Is it such a problem to remind Killers that there are 4 people in the Trial and not only the guy who just got unhooked?

If one perk out of the 80-90 you have available is the only thing doing that, either the perk is broken or the game is broken. Pick one.

Ok, let's say I go into a match without DS as I feel like I can use other perks instead. Straight into the match and the killer sees that I don't have it and he can tunnel me easily as I can't stun him.

This would make DS used even more than it is now because of this scenario.

I agree with this 100%. In the current meta, every survivor either has DS or benefits from it existing since the perk is so strong, every killer needs to play around it.

What I'm getting at is this is really degenerate gameplay that, for some reason, every survivor seems OK with... maybe because a small amount of survivors don't feel intense pressure to slot it because the perk is so overpowered, they get a benefit from the mere possibility that they have it.

I want Survivors to get as sick of this perk as I am. I want them to bemoan having to slot it every single game. Believe me: it won't change my experience as killer one bit if all 4 survivors actually have it since I have to play like you all do right now anyway.

That's the only way this perk is going to get addressed.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1724079#Comment_1724079

Is it such a problem that the Killer is not free to tunnel?

Is it such a problem to ask survivors to actually slot a perk if they actually want benefit from that perk?

  • @Mandy said:

I think this would give too much information to players and could lead to some pretty negative play which would end up making all survivors use DS.

I hear you and agree... but doesn't that fact alone reveal there's a problem with that perk? Literally the only thing preventing DS from being a mandatory perk is the fact you don't have to run it to gain some benefit from it existing, since a killer has to always play around it.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

No offence, but this is a horrible idea.

First of all, this would mean the killer would know which survivors they can tunnel without being struck by Decisive Strike.

Other than that, this doesn't remove the main problem of DS, which is what you can do in those 60 seconds. Yes, you know the guy playing very aggressively has decisive strike, but what is that going to change?

Personally I'd be against this change as it only encourages tunneling more which is what the opposite of this perk encourages.

If you don't want to be tunneled, slot anti-tunneling perks... like DS.

I'm really confused as to your point. Why should people benefit from a perk existing without actually slotting the perk?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

You want games with 4 DS? Because thats how you get games with 4 DS. Why would anyone not use DS at this point when there is a big "Tunnel me!"-Sign on their back?

Honestly? It doesn't matter to me. I have to play every game w/an obsession like 4 people have it already. Might as well actually make all of them slot it rather than give some the benefit of a 5th phantom perk they don't have.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 10
