The thing that i find the most concerning is, that they reworked Haddonfield, because of the house of pain. Only to introduce house of pain 2.0 with garden of joy.
Like, didn´t they learn that a house with multiple windows is a bad idea?

Most are dodging for weird unrealistic reasons, e.g. this cosmetic is very bright and flashy, must be a toxic player. But if they could not dodge they would just simply play the match. That's why it would not significantly add afk players.
A person that would dodge because he suspects toxic players, would most definetly afk!

Imagine playing solo survivor potatoes for teammates and killers with infinite ruin+undyings. Games where the killer could relight hexes would literally be survivors throwing the game just to keep cleansing them.
Most players have well over 1000 hours. When will the game get balanced around them, instead of people that just installed the game?
-
Killers should be able to relight hexes, just as survivors relight boons.
Change my mind.

Eh. I dont have a problem with that. Farming is boring. I'll play the cakes. But it's game on as usual.
Oh it would have been a normal match. With focus on maxing out bloodpoints instead of having a fast match thats over in less than 5 mins.

Just had that yesterday. Someone brought in an anniversary cake. In the end the highest score on their team was 12K. Hell, they could have walked away with more than that just for engaging with me and not bringing cake.
Had 5 cake offerings during a double BP event. Survivors gen rushed the hell out of there. I was like #########?! That could have been well over 150k bloodpoints for everyone. But nah.
-
Proceeds to use flan, gets gen rushed and teabagged by survivors that escape with 11k bloodpoints.

Something similar happend back in 2017. Where Leatherface and Freddy released both within a month.
Leatherfaces addons felt rushed, because most were a copy of Billy´s and Freddy was nerfed 1 week after release...

I don't see why would the overall queue times go up or why would significantly more people afk.
I am basing this on the fact that in my opinion people dodge lobbies for weird unrealistic reasons.
If you think that this wouldn´t affect queues/afk players, because there are not enough people that lobby dodge. Then there are also not enough people lobby dodging, to justify this penalty in the first place.
A penalty to lobby dodging comes always up, when the queues for one side get longer. Current mmr system solved this.
-
@fogdonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2999670#Comment_2999670
The system assigns a new player in no time, because the system focuses on speed instead of quality. MMR is not really taken into account when focusing on speed. So you get a worse matchmaking and as a result a less fun game. It is a problem because the matchmaking quality goes down, not because you have to wait some extra time.
Yeah i got that. But you do realize, that the overall queue times would go up with that penalty, yes? And that people would be afk during the match. Which both would be a worse gameplay experience than getting tossed into a match with someone out of your mmr range.
-

Chill down your tone...
Lobby dodging survivors and killers bug me.
I can't explain why survivors dodge.
And I noticed that killers dodge more often if survivors are all from the same platform.
I´m totally chill. Having a penalty would result in people just afking on both sides to prevent the penalty.
The system assigns you a new player in no time. So there really isn´t a reason to implement penalties. Its not like disconnecting during the match. What ruins the match for the rest of the players.
-
@fogdonkey said:

It wouldn't cause significant AFK... Survivors often dodge because of some random reasons, killers on the other hand pussy out if they see 4 survivors from the same platform.
Ahh now you´re showing whats the real reason.
Please, keep going why that bugs you.

You´re welcome. I´m sure giving out penalties for lobby dodging won´t have an impact on queues at all. Its not like people would afk during the match or anything...

BT is fair in this regard, imo.
You can use it to bodyblock at the risk of the killer not taking the bait and downing you.
At that point, you're down a hook state or losing DS for nothing.
It's certainly not a free action against decent killers.
But its a annoying one.
-
Survivors: we feel forced to use BT, because killers only camp.
Also survivors: i gonna body block you after getting unhooked, so you can´t touch the other survivor!
-
Solo Survivor is fun. I get competent teammates that usually know what to do (exceptions apply).
Killer is a chore. Not fun at all. During the first 2 weeks after the changed mmr, it was a either a sweatfest or a noobstomp. Now its sweatfest only.

How is the current DS stopping anyone from tunnelling?
As others have said in this very thread the best way to counter DS in the endgame is to get rid of it before that happens.
What happens to the player that manages to be chased for 5 gens while being tunneled by a Killer that has this philosophy of countering DS?
They somehow deserve to have one of their perks deactivated in the end game?
I hope you can understand how absurd that sounds.
Oh i consider DS to be a high risk, high reward perk. You know, like Hex perks. That get cleansed 30 seconds into the match.
Btw. i was one of the people that said, that the best way to get rid of DS is to trigger it early. Which happens to avoid getting hit by it during endgame.

I think they're a necessary evil since they're underpinned by the threat of camping. You can't slow gen speeds down, since that'd be a direct buff to camping. So until camping is addressed, they have to stay as they are.
On the flipside, BNPs can get Fd. Those were a terrible idea and are the real equivalent of early moris, though slightly less drastic.
I also think that a direct nerf to gen speeds would hurt the gameplay loop a bit, but there's creative solutions for that.
Fair enough. Lets see how the upcoming changes to the meta perks and the reason why the meta perks are meta, will change dbd.

There are still tons of complains about DH, because nothing changed in that regard.
Yes, there are now, but there were fewer when CoH was released.
CoH is just another extremely powerful perk, that got nerfed twice, but the nerfs didn´t address the core issue of the perk. However, the forum was full of threads, where people claimed CoH is useless now.
No, there were still far more complaints about CoH than about CoH being nerfed too much. I'll grant you there were considerable complaints about the nerf, but that was mostly divided between 'this nerf is not the nerf it needs' and 'this isn't enough of a nerf'. There were very few saying it was overnerfed.
But just, because the forum was flooded with those complain threads, doesn´t mean the amount of DH threads went down. Its just that the CoH threads were more visible.
But likewise, that argument also goes for your 'Before the Ruin + Undying combo was nerfed, there were fewer camping complaints'.
That's the point I'm making. You're using your perception of the forum presence of camping complaints to argue that camping will decrease if killers are made stronger, but as I argued before, the presence of a more pressing issue can push other issues to the side. And as you are arguing yourself just now, other issues could just have been more visible without there being a decrease in complaints about camping.
That's all I'm arguing here. Pointing to the forums as proof of a reduction in camping is a long shot.
Of course i´m using my own perception. Just like everyone else uses his own perception. I give you the benefit of the doubt in regard of the undying and camping threads.
Now, what is your opinion on gen speeds?

So who is making double standards now? You are nerfing fair perk but you are not punishing tunnellers.
We will not go to anywhere i guess, we have completely different opinions. Respectfully i will stop here.
Current DS is stopping tunnelers. Double DS would be like going back to the old version, where DS was weaponized. I constantly see streamers get hit by DS, where you can see that they didn´t expect to get hit by it, simply because they were not tunneling. Now imagine double ones. DS is still meta, so there is really no need for a buff. However a slight nerf would be appropiate.
I wish you a nice evening. It was nice having a discussion with you. Even though, you ended it prematurely.

Ok let's not punish those " good killers ". DS will deactive at EGC but it will work for both hook states now. Let's punish tunnellers more but those "good killers" will not get any punishment from this change.
That would be an insanely strong buff to DS. Kill rate would drop heavily.

Ok so you are saying DS & BT needs to deactive in EGC. And killer can not close hatch anymore too. And they can not grab survivor when survivor try escape with hatch. Am i correct?
I disagree with both them btw. People should not be punishment for playing good.
But keeping DS the way it currently is, IS punishing killers for playing good. Double standard?

how would it be a healthy change?
As said above, the current version leads to killers thinking, that the best way to avoid endgame DS is to get rid of it asap. Aka tunneling. It would be healthy in that regard, that killers wouldn´t feel forced to trigger it early.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2996747#Comment_2996747
It is not guaranteed escape. You can hook them far from gates, so you can slug them if they are far enough. You can try grab other survivors when they try save. You can bring end game perks, which will buy you good time. You can eat DS early game. There is enough counters.
But you are just wanna being rewarded for your lose. If they deactive DS & BT for end game, you will just target unhooked survivor. Escape will be imposible for them. This does not look healthy to me. And i agree with @ad19970 . Killers have chance to get 4 kills, so survivors should have for 4 men escape. But your suggestion will make this almost imposible.
Oh it would be a healthy change. It would turn DS into a high risk, high reard perk.

Yeah if it is end game and if multiple survivors alive, it should be hard to get kill. Ths is the natural cycle of the game.
It is same of survivor version when one survivor dies at early game. Win will be hard for last 3 survivors at this point. And it should be.
So again, game should not give you " free kill " because you are camping and tunnelling hooked survivor in end game. There is 0 reason to deactivate this perk. Tunnel is still tunnel and DS is helping against it.
So you are clearly saying "If survivor hooked in end game, escape should be so hard for them" but why? You failed on your task, not them. Why they should lose their perks while they won? Yes game is not over before they escape but at this point, you should have hard time, not survivors. Is killer should lose one of the perks when they have only 3 survivors alive? Your suggestion does not make any sense to me.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2996706#Comment_2996706
But tunnelling is still tunnelling, even in EGC. And plus maybe this survivor had 5 gens chase and it was their first hook? So why they should lose their perk because killer failed to kill them. Why EGC should support killer?
Tunneling is still tunneling during EGC? Uhm no. Thats like saying, camping is still camping during EGC. There is no where else to go for the killer.
So what is DS now, a anti tunneling perk or not? Because if the survivor made it to the endgame, then the killer obviously wasn´t tunneling said survivor. Mission accomplished. The perk did exactly what its supposed to do. But getting shafted, for playing fair during the whole match? Makes no sense. Even worse, killers could come to the conclusion, that the best way to get rid of DS is to trigger it early by tunneling. Which would only harm the survivors that don´t equip it.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2996694#Comment_2996694
Because if we nerf DS with this way, killers will target weakest survivor. And weakest survivor is ofc unhooked one. This is still tunnelling and it does not looks healthy change for me.
And i don't know why people are targeting only DS. BT have same effect. If you hooked them near to gates, they will escape with BT too.
Doesn´t make sense to me. The survivor who gets hooked during endgame and wasn´t tunneled before that. Doesn´t has to be the weakest one.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2996565#Comment_2996565
Then target one of the others instead hooked survivor? Game is not over after all gens pop'ed, you can still tunnel them in EGC. So DS is still needed perk, even at end game. So why perk should nerf because killers wants free kill in egc.
If survivors completed all tasks, it should be hard to get one kill for you. This is like that: If 3 survivors died, killer should lose to ability close/block hatch. Fair? No. So why game should reward you for end game camp and tunnel?
DS is fine.
I fail to see why nerfing DS would be a free kill.

Slug. There's your counter.
What's the counter for end game camping for someone without DS? "but BT!!!!" I play soloq, a lot of people just farm you without BT.
So, what's the counter for someone without DS who is being face camped?
As stated above, the survivor could just crawl out. Especially since most people rescue with BT.
I also play solo queue and 9 out of 10 rescues are done with BT.

No, I think you just confused yourself. Or you're doing a very good impression of looping my statements.
Remember when you said the killer tunnels because gens go fast? And I said the killer tunnels to win, even if they didn't have to because they like winning. And then you brought up old Undying and the threads of the past like it was proof otherwise because it's the only thing you brought up in response, which even if they did complain less, you're only singling out camping as a strategy people didn't do with old Undying, not tunneling, which means this whole exercise essentially went nowhere.
I am definitely feeling the 3AM crust brain right around now.
Okay, i see the issue here. As i said, killers need to get a survivor out of the match asap, because gens go to fast. There is simply not enough time to spread the hooks, since survivors have often completed all gens by the time the killer got 4 hooks. Undying Ruin aleviated this, by making it more efficient to spread the damage and constantly switch targets. So far we agree, yes?
We also agreed, that some killers would camp&tunnel regardless of using the perk combo. Because reasons. Just like survivors would gen rush a match with party streamers/cakes. But this isn´t how the majority of the playerbase plays, is it? Most killers enjoy a match that lasts somewhere around 12-15 minutes. Which nets a decent amount of bloodpoints for everyone. But thats simply not possible with the current gen speed.
Survivors dictate how fast the match goes and no amount of slowdown perks changes this. A killer could get a good start, get 2 hooks before the first gen is completed and still lose once survivors focus to finish gens.

@Marigoria said:
IMO, ds should deactivate if you're doing the gate for more than 2 seconds, but it also should activate twice during the match, after both hook stages so it actually is an anti tunnel perk.
Thats the most imbalanced thing i´ve ever heard of. Especially considering how gates usually get 99th.
Implementing this would result in a baseline 0k killrate across the board.
-
@Firellius said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2994592#Comment_2994592
I'm pretty sure the frequency of DH complaints also dropped at CoH's release. Bigger issues can push smaller issues out of the spotlight, so to say that Ruin/Undying was making people camp/tunnel less is still nothing more than an assumption.
The amount of DH complaints dropped? Ohh you mean that in comparison of the amount of people that complained about CoH getting nerfed to uselessnes, twice, and still being one of the strongest perks in the game. Probably hasn´t to do anything with the fact, that the survivor playerbase is a little bigger than the killer playerbase.
-
This thread is hilarious. How some people try to argue, that a perk that exists solely to prevent tunneling, is totally fair in a situation, where the killer didn´t tunnel during the whole match, but gets punished by it at the endgame.
So the killer plays accordingly to the survivor rule book but gets shafted for doing so. *claps slowly*

Why would you keep saying "oh, but look, camping and tunneling definitely didn't happen with old Undying!" like you were trying to disprove that killers will take advantage of anything to win even if they have the advantage?
But you apparently don't think that? I guess if you just keep heavily implying it instead of outright saying it you always have an out if someone calls it out as silly. Nice.
Your slowdown staying up longer (or forever, in old Undying's case) is beneficial in every situation. It is especially good if you tunnel/camp someone out early. I guess you didn't experience a lot of ruindying 3v1s with more than one gen left like I did.
I think we are both talking past each other. Killers didn´t take the Undying Ruin combo out of the goodness of their hearts. I never claimed that. Killers obviously want to win just as much as survivors. BUT completing 5 gens for 4 survivors is simply not comparable to 12 hooking. Does snowballing heavily incline the balance towards one side? Absolutely! But it does so for both sides.
I repeat, the most effective way to use the old Undying Ruin combo (and get any effect out of it) was to not camp. Because Ruin has no effect on survivors that hug a gen. Because 3 survivors freely completing gens, while the killer sits in front of the hook for 120 seconds is more than enough time to complete 4 gens. Especially, when the camped survivor didn´t go down in 2 seconds and the other survivors could start out repairing gens.
And no, i didn´t experience a lot of Undying Ruin camps, because that was a fail strategy for the killer which would result in a 1k or maybe 2k at best. Instead i got a lot of Nurses and Blights that would constantly switch targets.

That's just false.
Original Undying was broken, and it only made tunneling and camping worse.
How? The minute Ruin and Undying were cleansed, the killer would hard camp and tunnel.
How's that any different from a current killer who loses half or more perks at the start of the match, due to survivors cleansing totems?

So I need to, what.. scan every post made from the time period old Undying was live, count how many times camping/tunneling were brought up, and compare that to.. any other period of time, I guess?
And you believe that's a valid method of determining whether or not the actual game population were camping/tunneling during that time period?
And not just that, you genuinely believe killers were such phenomenally good sports that they didn't camp or tunnel with old Undying, despite it making the strategy even stronger?
Could you quote me on the part, where I said killers were good sports, pls?
Ruin only worked when survivors didn't hug gens.
Undying significantly increased the lifetime of Ruin.
A killer who wanted to get any benefit from that combo, was playing without camping. For the simple reason that none of the perks would have done anything. Since the killer wasn't constantly pushing the survivors off the gens.
Where there killers that still camped and tunneled? Absolutely. Just like there are survivors that use a cake and gen rush escape with 11k bloodpoints. Both things aren't exactly smart. But people nevertheless do them in rare cases.
