Depends on the other 3 perks.
-
Don't ruin your build by taking lightborn just in case. Either dodge them if they are not ready by 10 or slug them. If they want to play scummy, you can play just as scummy as them.MineAntoiya said:Yay or Nay?
Personally, after getting my ass handed to me by 2 flashlight Claudettes (Just 2...) while doing my best to look at walls, I see just how unfair it is. Of course I was running the standard NOED + Ruin. And the only reason I get a kill is due to that beautiful savior of a perk (Guess I'm a NOED "Noob" huh?) Why can't we get an honest look into how they're going to play instead of being downright lied to? Guess I'll always have to run Lightborn just in case.
-
Flashlights are useless?Zanfer said:I say it doesn't matter cause flashlights are completely useless in this meta anyways. If you can't deal with a flashlight that is your fault as the killer not the survivors who are bringing an item in.
That's strange. I have no problem getting a save. Have you tried aiming at the head?
Every time I tried to flashlight save someone, I managed to do it. With flashlights I found in a chest, since I don't bring flashlights into a match. -
That's the whole point of killers seeing the survivors loadout. So they can prepare accordingly.TheLegendDyl4n1 said:@Jack11803 said:
It’s literally survivors trump to dodging. Only reason killers are host is because it’s simple, and cheap, don’t let it get to your head.agree if a killer sees me with all bloody clothing on and a flashlight are they going to stay? no. unless they put on lightborn or franklins demise real quick.
Or can't you win, unless you go in full tryhard on a unprepared killer? -
The comment "looping is out of spite" was a direct response to "camping is out of spite". Please don't take it out of context.powerbats said:@Tsulan said:
Camping is a gamble. Camping a looper to make sure he stays dead might lose you the game, or win it.
Also, survivors tend to call everything camping. If the killer get´s looped near the hook, he´s a camper. Not the killers fault.
I don´t camp. But i get called a camper countless times.
On the other hand, if the killer doesn´t camp, and people escape because of that, they smack talk afterwards how easy it was.So, just play the way you want and ignore the comments afterwards. Killers job is to kill by any means necesary. Or have you seen a horror movie, where a victim confronts the killer, telling him to go for someone else?
If it's a really skilled looper it's understandable since they can waste your time. But is it worth it to got after them instead of someone not so good?
If you get looped near the hook it's not camping, that just bad play by person being chased. But at times I've seen killer chase the person by taking a different angle to force them into being chased near the hook.
I don't either and have been called one as well but it's extremely rare.
That's not always true and you totally know it and I've had killer camp way more often and say ez after camping just me or one other person like camping takes actual skill. You'll no doubt come back with lopping takes no skill when actually it does since you can make mistake. You can get caught on the looping spot, not make your turn tight enough etc.
The killer doesn't have to do anything while standing at the hook, there's no mistakes possible to just stand If they simply go out of terror radius range, even worse with Tinker II exploit. (This is big issue at rank 1-2 right now) They just wait wand watch for a survivor to come closer and wham easy killings.
The killers jobs is to get sacrifices not to sit there at the hook doing nothing, damage gens, hit people, down people, hook people. Here let em reiterate this in the simplest terms that id you get this message you didn't do your job.
**ENTITY DISPLEASED**
Wrong and you know it since looping is done because that's pretty much the only way the survivor ahs of escaping. If the game actually had a stealthy option of los breakers where you could go hide it'd be different. You've even commented in the threads where @Peanits commented on that's something they want to change.
A good killer knows when to camp and when not.
It can change the rest of the match, if the killer decides to camp or not to. It can win you a game or lose you one. Having 2 survivors in the basement is a major advantage for the killer.
Now back to looping. I can count the times a survivor juked me on one hand. It amazes me every time. But it's really hard to master. Unlike running in circles. Looping is the lazy way of surviving. Or not even that. It's just a lazy or cheap way to waste the killers time. Looping is as enjoyable and entertaining as camping.
I'm a terrible survivor. I don't know how to loop. But I can loop a killer for 3-4 gens depending on which map and where the chase starts.
In my opinion, the game needs some major changes. Survivors should be able to lose the killer mid chase more easily. More stealth builds. Killers shouldn't feel the constant time pressure. Killers should feel powerful and terrifying. Not weak and terrified. Game feels often like a bully simulator. Survivors are so used to play without any consequences, that they dc the moment they can't bully.
DbD should have a hardcore mode. -
But what's hard about ruin? Just gen tap or power through. It only slows the game down. Nothing impressive.Envees said:@Tsulan said:
Delfador said:I made a post where I said that we could change it to a non hex perk. However, instead of hooking survivors 5 times, killers had to hook 4 different people so that it would kinda prevent camping and tunneling since killers would get something in turn for choosing different targets.
The problem is doctor.
Doctor with his annoying built would be just unbeatable. As you know, huntress lullaby does 2 things. It prevents skill check sounds from appearing, and regresses generators even further if you miss a skill check. Imagine random skill checks because of doctor's own ability without sounds and and with unnerving presence.
If it is going to become a non hex perk, then It should be nerfed.
I don't agree.
Hex perks are not powerful enough to justify them being a hex perk.
Just turn every hex perk into a normal one (except noed maybe).Lullaby would be strong on the doctor. But that's it.
A failed skill check isn't a instant death. This could also allow a new meta of perks. Technician is a clear counter.Leave ruin in as a regular perk and killers will get nothing but 3-4k. Ruin is hard for me. This will punish all the little ones and the ones who are able to hit the great ones on a regular basis.
I do agree that something needs to be done to make ruin live longer. I dont use it.

When you burn an event offering, you get more points from hooks and generators. Even if you don't touch an event generator, when it is done, you get more points. It is not counted as extra so you are able to have more than 32k.
Ok then. The first time i see this.

They're not toxic, but they are rude.
Also I was talking about the entire forum, not just this particular thread. I can tell you want to be right and you're going to continue to make a straw man argument by picking and choosing the pieces of what I said that fit your side, so I'm not going to continue replying. However, I would maybe consider the fact that if you want to be someone who supposedly stands for people expressing their opinions, you need to let people express their opinions.
I find it ridiculous, that OP complains how killer sided this forum is, when the people who answered him, clearly showed that the killer forum is basically the same but with survivors complaining.
He just ranted how bad this forum is.I make a lot of comments here. Even helping survivors with their issues. But starting a rant about how killer sided this forum is, and only agreeing when someone says that the comments are toxic, is just childish.
Feel free to answer or to ignore me. I´m just defending my point of view.

Yeah, but what do you want to discuss? Unless you use an offering for a certain map, you don´t know where you go. Coordinating the sabotage of hooks is also difficult. Maybe perks like We´ll make it. But they also get a tooltip.
Even if i play in SWF, i rarely discuss a tactic. I play SWF just for the laughs.
Coordinating sabotaging Hooks actually ain't difficul at all, randoms or SWF.
Perks like We'll Make It, Borrowed Time, Obsession Perks, heck, even Resilience can be talked about to use certain tactics.Good for you that you don't talk tactics, no one's gonna say you should.
Just saying that those who don't use it are not using something of value that's there to use.Fair point.

You're joking, but it actually is.
If there was no looping, chases would end pretty immediately most of the time. There's not very many features that encourage hiding. The red strikes are incredibly easy to follow, so if you're not running perks to make them vanish then evading a killer in chase is near impossible given the large speed differential.
I'm not saying looping is fun for everyone, but it's not like it's a bug or exploit anyone is using to break the game. It's just literally the only mechanic that was working in for the survivor side of chases.
If looping didn´t exist, survivors would have learned how to juke the killer. There are more than enough ways to do this. But running in circles is simply easier and thus faster to learn.
Agree to disagree. As someone who plays killer and survivor pretty equally, juking isn't nearly as effective as some people make it out to be and can be pretty easily countered depending on the map and the killer. That can't be the only tactic survivors have.
As i said, running in circles is simply easier.

It's incredibly frustrating as someone who would like to have actual discussions that don't just end in "well you wouldn't have that problem if you would git good" or "lol survivors all so salty".
Meanwhile, contrary to what others have said, the killer forum gets a bunch of "who's your favorite survivor/what's the best loadout/how do I play x character" posts without a ton of people running in and flaming them to the ground. Super fair.
Thank you! This was the point I was making and thanks to all the negative posts for proving that point!
I’m not looking for anyone’s approval, I just hate when people enter forums just to troll and say git gud! I know it happens both ways but since I posted this in the SURVIVOR section I saw no fault. But as always I knew some people couldn’t help themselves.
Uhm what?

This whole post is full of people telling this person off for having an opinion (and an opinion that's not entirely unfair-- go look through this forum and see how many threads are about scummy survivors versus how many killer threads are about scummy killers), which is what you say should be allowed here.
I don't think this person is playing the victim and I think it's pretty rude to say that they are. I think they're expressing a fair frustration that I know I've also felt as someone who would like to discuss things like best survivor builds, chase strategies, etc. but only sees popular threads about how to nerf flashlights and Claudette more. I'm not saying get rid of those conversations, just that there needs to be more balance.
Let´s see:
- First answer: With all do respect pop your head over to the killer section. It goes both ways lol. I do agree though the toxicity that exists between both sides is very inappropriate but it's not just one side.
Second answer: So... what was your question again?
Yes, this is the survivors forum. But anyone can express his opinion. Or should people that play both or killer only not be allowed to post here? Doesn´t that sound childish?Third answer: You shouldn't be a "main", just play both sides, many people who post here do that.
Fourth answer: Wanna see childish and toxic behavior, take a look at the steam reviews of the game from all the cry baby survivor mains, then see who the childish and toxic ones are. xD
All that fuss over a balancing patch, gimme a break.Fifth answer: This is a sub forum that has topics relating to survivor issues. There is not a big sign out front that says "No Killers allowed." Just the same goes for the Killer sub forum. If a topic is put up and someone, regardless of there "main," has an opinion it is going to voiced. This is generally how message boards work. And, to be honest, I doubt anyone starts a discussion for everyone to just be yes men, e.g. Killers talking about why DS should be nerfed, 9/10 Killers would just agree, no real discussion, just a lot of nodding heads.
- Then came your answer, where you agree that the answers have been toxic. Like #########?

LOL, go play survivor and see for yourself. That perk just wastes a slot. You use it like 20% of the time.
In order to use that perk you need:- To be the obsession
- Not have a hook close
- Hit the skill check (yes, sometimes we miss even with thousands of hours)
If you're not the obsession it's almost impossible to use it. Almost always you need a body block, since hooks are everywhere now, and very rarely body block happens outside SWF.
Your concern with DS is most likely tied to SWF, where every survivor can have it and use it in one game.
Other than that its a wasted perk slot. So go complain in the nerf SWF thread. Kthxbye.Except I'm rank one killer and rank one survivor and know exactly how the perk works. Survivors shouldn't get out of being downed easily. You chase them for a while, down them, they get out free.
D strike still works if you're not the obsession which is even more annoying as you end up wasting even more time as the killer with it, you down them, pick up them almost get to a hook - bam, dropped.
If it's a wasted perk slot why does almost every game have at least one person with it in their slots?
and if it is a wasted perk slot you'll have no issue with the nerf. Also - I like how i'm automatically a killer main because I have a different opinion to you - I don't dodge lobbies as a killer and am perfectly fine with SWF.

Also, Myers takes a hell of a beating in all the movies. He gets stunned by ordinary objects regularly. But that aside, this is a game, not a movie. If the game played like the movies, everyone would have to pretend not to see Myers as he runs up and instantly kills you. Doesn't sound like fun to me.
BL resets on every chance it gets. 2 days ago I lost BL on autohaven while I got looped around 1 car.

Killers won´t dogde SWF anymore, since it doesn´t matter anyway.
Games will be done faster, as everyone knows all the time if they need to leave the gen or not.

It might be a great starting point to balance the game, IF they time the killer buffs right.
IF they take to long, they might have lost a huge amount of killers.SWF will be even more time efficient. Especially non-optimal SWF will benefit rlly hard from teh auras, its way more precise than voice comms and you can even interact with other players (if 2man or 3man swf).
It will never happen again that several survivors go for the same unhook which was one of the biggest time wasters for survivors.
Since devs just hand over these buffs to survivors while nerfing killer at the same time, I suggest that all killers follow cotes suggestion to switch to survivor or play another game.
No thats not a strike, thats just listening to the devs and following their advice
Monster Hunter World comes out in a few days...

So no, it´s a terrible idea that would only be abused by survivors which would dodge, when they see a killer they dislike, or use the exact build they need to bully that specific killer.
i have seen some pretty good face camping Freddies not going to lie.
Although you have to point them in a dream world certain hook will give him enough time to pull you inThe unhooked guy might get away but he got you and can tunnel the other guy
Freddy can´t face camp. When you are hooked, you can´t see where he stands. He could be 10 meters away from you, searching for survivors. But you would still hear the lullaby.
After he unhooks you, you have 4-7 seconds (depending on freddys add-ons) until he can interact with you. That´s usually enough to get out of the basement or to the next window/pallet.
If he downs you with other survivors nearby, they should try to heal you (if they are still awake). Freddy won´t be able to pick you up, while you are being healed and has to wait for them to completely transition into the dreamworld, before he can hit them.Every other killer would have grabbed the unhooking survivor off the hook, or downed you the moment you hit the ground.

So you complain that you are playing as rank 8-12 survivor and the rank 20 killer disconnects after a few minutes of facing you. How did you manage to end up in his lobby? SWF with a rank 20 survivor to bully noob killers? This sounds fishy. I said rank 20 as an example and I should of clarified that on my end.
Whatever rank killer you're leaving during that match results in everyone losing a pip is my point
It depends on what you didnt before the killer disconnected. If you managed to do a gen, unhook and heal someone you are pretty much safe from a depip.
Is there a reason the killer disconnects? I can count the times i rage quit as killer on 1 hand. When i play survivor i usually don´t see the killer disconnecting. The way you describe it, it must be a recurrend issue. Is there something that happens right before the killer quits? Maybe 4 gens done before the first hook? Several flashlight saves? Hook sabotage?
They do it because they know you're a SWF group and instead of dodging they'll bring you into a lobby and just DC or they'll let you touch a gen and hit somebody then leave
But most of the time its right after the loading screen
Any last second switches or strange offerings?
I really don´t see this happen to much. So i have no explanation for the killers behavior. But there must be a reason if this happens so often. -

This sounds fishy.
I said rank 20 as an example and I should of clarified that on my end.
Whatever rank killer you're leaving during that match results in everyone losing a pip is my point
It depends on what you didnt before the killer disconnected. If you managed to do a gen, unhook and heal someone you are pretty much safe from a depip.

honestly... This is most killers if not allYou have to admit, he isn't wrong though. Killers aren't supposed to please the survivors.
True but there also supposed to sacrifice not camp and set up a tent on the hooked victim. I mean the entity is displeased message pops up telling you that you sucked as killer. You're most definitely supposed to please the entity and it isn't going to happen by camping.
But at the same time some survivors are just plain stupid and hopefully once they rewrite the code and get dedicated servers they can really fix things better.

Coming from the same person that thinks Freddy can face camp...
So no, it´s a terrible idea that would only be abused by survivors which would dodge, when they see a killer they dislike, or use the exact build they need to bully that specific killer.

Survivors would start hook blocking and killers wouldn't be able to hook anyone. Bad idea.AnnekeFloorever said:Ok, well after reading all of this, I still think my most valid point is the amount of hooks. There should be way less.
There should be just enough hooks that a killer really has to use scramble to find one just before the survivor wiggles out. It should be about perfect timing for the killer, just like skill checking a generator. I mean, if a survivor REALLY has to look carely for a generator (without a perk), then the same should go for hooks and killers. It's not fair that a hook is right next to a generator, or right next to a cabinet, or even right next to the exit gate. Or two hooks within close proximity to each other.
The hooks should be sparse. How is it fair that a killer can pick me up at ANY where in the map and hook me before the Wiggle bar even gets to 20%? Even with Boil Over, I have found killers can find hooks within 1-2 seconds at anywhere of the map. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!! It is absolutely not fair.
Also, something needs to be done about rage quitting. If a survivor rage quits, it makes it easier for the killer.
However, if a killer disconnects ,the whole game ends, not fair at all.
And killers should not get faster during a chase, they should get slower, as it get slower for survivors. There needs to be exhaustion for running on both killers and survivors.
Killers get slower during a chase? Survivors can loop a killer for 5 gens. You want more? -
I don't agree.Delfador said:I made a post where I said that we could change it to a non hex perk.
Hex perks are not powerful enough to justify them being a hex perk.
Just turn every hex perk into a normal one (except noed maybe).
Lullaby would be strong on the doctor. But that's it.
A failed skill check isn't a instant death. This could also allow a new meta of perks. Technician is a clear counter. -
There is no region lock anymore. Matchmaking matches you with the closest available players at that moment. This can be someone from the other end of the planet tho.
Also, vpn isn't allowed.
@Lowbei is right. -
That's why there should be a ingame voice chat. Then you can balance around that. But giving survivors to much information is not the right way.Peanits said:To play devil's advocate, how do you bring SWF groups down to a solo level? Say even if you could detect every voice chat program out there and classify it as a cheat (including Steam, which has voice chat built in), how do you prevent someone from opening up Skype or Discord on their phones and talking to their friends with that?
The intent with the change is to create a level playing field across all survivors. This means they have a baseline to balance killers around. You don't have to worry about making killers too powerful against solo players just to make them competitive against premade groups, for example. The short version is, make all survivors (roughly) equal, buff killers to be powerful against everyone equally.
I understand that you want to make the game more accessible for new players. But why give experienced players additional information? Why give away that Huntress lullaby is on the map? Or that noed is active? Or that the killer approaches with UP?
We have noob ranks. Let's use them to give survivors tooltips like you already have, but increase the information. Then, when survivors leave the noob ranks, give them a warning and take all those tooltips away. -
I agree. Mods shouldn't be necessary to play, but change the play style. We need stronger base kits.Delfador said:@Runiver said:
Would have prefered him to have a stronger base kit and a weaker ultra-rare add-ons, rather than the current state, honestly. This is unfortunately this game's one of problems. A lot of killers including wraith and freddy actually is good but you need addons. Devs need to understand that rather than killer addons, they should buff their base kit.
Addons should be accessible and should not be too powerful like insta chainsaws or 4 blink nurses. Instead of being too powerful, their purpose should be changing play style of a killer. Hag and myers have really good addons that allow you to play them differently like lery's 0 terror radius myers, or body blocking hag.
I usually evaluate the strength of a killer by playing him/her without add-ons. If he/she performs only well, while using add-ons, it's a weak or mediocre killer.
Best examples: nurse and billy. Which perform well without add-ons. -
