So... do you think the current (no skill based) matchmaking is fine?

I just wish survivors had a perk for BP the way killers have always had BBQ. WGLF is not even close, even after the buff that came more recently. And now that survivors are punished by losing add ons, with all the killers who are afk to derank or farm for challenges, it's BS
WGLF is superior to BBQ in every single aspect.
-
Because for some people, simply winning isn´t enough.
They get a superiority feeling, when they make others feel bad.

Secondary objectives will make already oppressive killers almost impossible to play against.
Yeah... no.
A secondary objective will take off pressure from the killer. Because lets face it, killers are the only ones being pressured unless the killer tunnels.
Just look back at the time between the Undying release and its nerf. The amount of "camping killer" threads was practically non existant. Instead, survivors complained about having to do totems. But instead of celebrating that killers stopped camping&tunneling. They were mad, because they had to do something that nets them between 1000 and 1500 BP for 14 seconds of holding m1.
-
Using a perk that defends you against being bullied by 3 flashlights?
-
Fun fact: a ton of people complained about getting matched with people out of their "rank range" during the SBMMR Test. Behaving, like that didn´t happened before/after the SBMMR Test.
Can´t wait till this actually goes live. Since the SBMMR was the best thing that happend to DbD in a long time.
-
Deadlock won´t do anything. Blocked gens do not regress and survivors will just do other gens. It doesn´t buy the killer 2 minutes. It simply blocks permanently 1 gen. Which can even hurt the killer more, since survivors won´t accidently 3 gen themselfes.
Trash perk.
-
Just for a reference. A killer who doesn't camp&tunnel will see the following during the endgame screen:
"gg ez"

I loved it as solo survivor.
Finally good team mates, and was still facing strong killers. I think most people who complained about it are just used to going against people who are weaker than them and didn't like the challenge.
Exactly. Finally some good teammates that didn´t suicide in the first hook or disconnected on the first hit.
I´d say the people that complained the most were SWF teams that carried each other and were matched with a skill rating, that was far above their actual skill.
-
Honestly? With how the game is balanced right know?
Just play without gen slowdown perks. You´ll get 3 or 4 hooks by the time the gates are powered and might end up with 0 to 1 kills.
Things might change once the skill based matchmaking goes live. But until then you either conform yourself with getting almost no hooks or switch to survivor.
-
The SBMMR Test was great. It provided a fair matchmaking for most of the people.
That being said, the forum was full of people, that complained about the SBMMR. So i´m not sure if the SBMMR comes back any time soon.

@Hippie said:
I think Ruin exists for that, haha... although it's a Hex perk and can be countered, thankfully. 😛
Ruin doesn´t regress blocked gens.

That might be exactly what happened: by using VPN those people from other continents get IP local to you, so the system matches them with you based on their seeming region, ignoring the ping.
But why?

There’s no real way to prove VPN use for any individual, but there are people who admit to using a VPN to connect to different servers “for shorter queues” (whether that’s the real reason or not, who knows).
I’ve been connected to far away servers in the past where I had a ping of nearly 200 when I usually get <30, so I agree it does happen. It’s not super common though and you can just dodge that lobby when you notice your ping.
Yes, it rarely happens. But people always instantly jump to the VPN conclusion. Thats why i asked.
The weirdest match i had, was against survivors from: USA, Russia, Thailand and Japan. All in the same lobby. While i sit in Europe.

No, but new players/casuals usually swarm the hook so they'll get their stacks.
Thats a completely different problem.

I am very impressed by all the unique and classy animations they gave Pinhead. Def can see BHVR has been slowly ramping up their animation game from what was a few unique things (Hag & Spirit breaking things) to Hatch closing animations and unique pick-up animations, to now Pinhead doing everything hands-free!
I'm def excited to play him, even if I fear playing him on console could potentially be a nightmare. There's just a lot great with him so far. Perks I'm intrigued by, as well as the Hooks hindering the Survivors.
I´m not sure if he will be a strong killer. Since his power just slows survivors down (like Freddys blood puddles) but has to be aimed or comes from the box. Of course, he just released. So its waaaaay to early to draw a conclusion.
BUT the animations look great! The did a terrific job on him!

My guess of having to solve the Lament Configuration to rid yourself of a negative status effect Ala Freddy was correct. As well as him using his signature Chains to attack (us Hellraiser fans KNEW they'd be incorporated). What I didn't guess was him directly controlling those Chains directly!
Yeah, that was a pleasant surprise!
-
He also says 2 lines when someone picks up the box:
"You opened the box"
-
@Tsulan said:
His power will probably be something with chains that hinder survivors. Since we haven´t had a Trap killer for ages, he can probably set some sort of trap (chain trap?).
Quoting myself, because i was right. (partly)

That only happens when queue times get too long, and is designed that way by BHVR. They've said before, they prioritize queue times over a fair match. Do you really think they'll change that with the MMR? And if so, what's stopping them from adjusting the current system to eliminate that.
My late night matches with MMR when survivor queues were long were just as unbalanced as your example. We couldn't see ranks but it was obvious from the killer having 1 perk and having no idea how to use their power.
If you want to argue for MMR, you should compare the two when queue times are normal. The matchmaking falls apart with either system when queues are bad, and does so by design.
There was no way of comparing it for me during the SBMMR test (and shortly before it), because i had instant lobbies on both sides (yeah i know, thats pretty rare).
-
Myers is fine. Your team needs to feed him a lot before he gets his infinite t3. By then, all gens should be finished. Everything else is just an excuse.
Oh and the devs should take Myers as an example of how to make addons for a killer. Because his addons allow for completely different playstyles, which is the best thing ever. Since you never know what you are facing.
-
The matches during the test were great. But some people just didn´t want it, because they got matched with/against some new players.
Meanwhile, with the SBMMR deactivated: rank 20 killer gets matched against purple and red survivors.
-
Since the devs won´t be able to make any changes after he gets pulled out of the shop, i´d like them at least to take a look at his current stats, do some small reworks, QoL changes while they still can.
-
There is no release date yet on when the skill based matchmaking goes live.
But, since so many people complained during the sbmmr test, it probably get delayed again.

It’s super inconsistent. I’ve had some challenging games, but I think overall it’s definitely been easier than before MMR. I’m usually always rank 1 and match up with mostly experienced red rank players. With MMR on, I was getting matched with some rank 17-20 newbies. Very weird.
Some solo q was ok. Several games however were with brand new killers.
Playing killer was the same way. I mainly only played my main killer. Some games the average survivor playtime was 5k hours, and the games were challenging. A couple groups were ultra hard. But then several games were vs brand new players. Literally brand new. I played a swf last night with 7 hours of playtime. Then sometimes you get a mixed group. I played on Cowshed and wrecked 3 super noobs, and then the 4th was so good, definitely one of the best survivors I’ve ever played against, and looped me for like 2 minutes. All very weird It’s kind of fun to wreck noob teams occasionally, but I’m not sure if that’s how MMR is supposed to work
Lets see if the devs release some information on the outcome of this test.

Actually, high rank killers know how to pressure gens, so Ruin is very effective for them.
And yet, high rank survivors ignore Ruin and just push gens.
Playing as solo, most of the time, the killer gets between 3-5 hooks before the gates are powered. Doesn´t matter if the killer uses Undying Ruin or not.

No.
I play Wraith, Myers, Ghostface, Huntress (starting), Doc, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Oni, Demo, Deathslinger, Blight and Nemesis.
So you do play regularly with Blight, Nemesis and Wraith. This might be why the mmr puts your skill with them higher.

Solo Survivor ~ Good teammates, never even saw the Killer in several of my games. When I did get chased, they were decent, but were losing gens fast.
Killer ~ I've never played Billy in a public match but got good Survivors instantly. I play Spirit occasionally and got people with under 300 hours. I tried playing Blight but got to the point where it was legitimately impossible for me to win. I even had someone look over the stream and they agreed with me. Nemesis featured much of the same thing, as did Wraith.
Are Blight, Nemesis and Wraith your mains?

@Pulsar said:

I am none of these (i do stream, but average 1 viewer lets go)
BHVR needs to fix the high ranks before implementing this.
Could you be more specific on your experience? Because i suspect, that it varies greatly from mine.
Mine was:
- solo survivor = good teammates, decent killers.
- killer = matches with killers i had no experience with, were more forgiving. Matches with my mains were the usual sweatfest.
-
This thread is a perfect example of Karma.
-
Nothing is wrong the the Hatchets hitbox. What you experience is latency. On your screen it looks like the hatchet missed, while on the killers screen it looks like a perfect hit.
In other words, you got dedicated.

Like i said, learn to pressure gens properly and its not a problem, what your suggesting wouldnt matter because you wouldnt loose chase if the killer is running ruin, ruin is pressuring gen for them. You are going downed, at little risk, if other team mates fill for that gen, you have more pressure for that area your chasing anyways. Pop requires setup that takes precious time, ruin and undying is a gamble but takes no setup, and if your worry about disappearing early game, then you werent confident enough to win without perks anyways, dont do it.
Ruin isn´t pressuring gens. It´s the absense of survivors that "pressures" gens. Ruin will do nothing on survivors that hold m1.
What you mean with pressure gens doesn´t add up against skilled survivors. Since you can only chase 1 survivor at a time. Means the others will either hug gens or hang around.

Not every one has a SWF gen rush group. Hell solo ques you're lucky to get competent team mates at all.
Thats why i put the "dc on first hit" in.
-
Let me sum up matches where killers don´t camp:
gen rush, gen rush, gen rush, gen rush, rush gens, dc on first hit, gen rush, rush gens, rush gens, rush hooks, gen rush, gen rush, etc.
Ah yes, this game is so much fun for everyone who tries to play "fair".
-
Obviously getting a teammate killed.

Weee back to sweatfest.

Bro I run ruin undying on nearly every killer if they get it and I play red ranks. Its never garunteed but you gotta learn to pressure gens over slugs. If you push even 1 surv of a gen thats nearly done, you can wipe that gen in 20 seconds. Pop doesnf compare at that point, and even if the cleanse within 2 mins of the game ( which is actually pretty rare, btw) you still bought yourself a gen in value, easily worth 2 perk slots simce you did next to nothing for that value.
Anyone who complains that ruin undying is bad, plane and simple,
Are bad
"wipe a nearly done gen in 20 seconds"
Ruin regresses at half the speed a single survivor takes to repair. So you might wanna check that again.
You try that on me, and watch how i go back to the gen, the second you break the chase. If you don´t break the chase, watch how the other 3 survivors repair gens (which makes Ruin useless). Either way, you lose.

I brought it up because you're lying and being ridiculous. If you're not willing to post something factual, I'm going to give you the correct information.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2427946#Comment_2427946
His build doesn't offer many advantages as there's a lack of synergy between the perks. All you're showing is that you went against a new Bubba player with half a build at tier two.
They're running Ruin and Corrupt. A perk that encourages survivors to move around the map and is more likely to find the Ruin. Any experienced player wouldn't recommend using these perks together.
And where exactly was i lying?
Every experienced survivor will ignore Ruin. Because the drawbacks of wasting time by actively searching it vs just hugging gens and cleansing it on the way to the next gen are obvious.
As i said, no high rank killer will use this combo, because he also understands the synergy/uselessness of the perk.
-
His power will probably be something with chains that hinder survivors. Since we haven´t had a Trap killer for ages, he can probably set some sort of trap (chain trap?).

Well firstly ruin is 100% the best regression perk hence why it is a hex perk. As for the others (besides haunted and retribution since they work a bit different) I agree. That’s why I want buffs for perks like blood favour or huntress lullaby since they are currently too weak to be a hex.
Undying in its current form is good anyway. It’s a extra life for your totem and and slight info perk which is all it needed to be
The fact that Ruin is being considered the best regression perk, speaks for itself. I mean, most of the time, Ruin can be ignored. Since it does nothing when survivors hug gens.
Undying is a worse Haunted Grounds. With Haunted Grounds, you get at least the exposed status.

Then why is it used in red ranks so often? I know it’s not too hard to get there but you have to play somewhat consistently to stay rank 2-1 which is where I see it most
You don´t have to play very consistently to stay in red ranks. You just need 5 okayish matches to go from rank 5 back to 4.
With how the current rank system works, ranking up and staying at red ranks isn´t really hard.
Fact is, that with the exception of Devour Hope, none of the Hex perks deserve being a Hex perk. Because their power is so lacking or has so many prequisites/timers/restrictions (on top of being a Hex perk) that they won´t see a lot of action anyway.
-
@Phasmamain said:

Then why do most people run it? If it was terrible everyone would’ve moved to the next meta build
Why is SC still meta after the healing nerf?
People that don´t play a lot, tend to see a build from 2 years ago, hear that its meta and start using it despite the fact, that its useless now.

We´ll never know what its balanced around. For a good reason. If people knew, they would find a way to abuse the system.

Its a noobstomper combo that's why everyone is running it, because its an easy game if survivors don't cleanse or don't know totem spawns. It sucks against survivors who actually have a hint of a brain and cleanse totems or bring 1 perk to counter 2 of yours.
Exactly!
Just to prove this, my last match against a Ruin using Bubba. We didn´t even bother searching for it.

You can't even cleanse a totem in ten seconds unless you're bringing Counterforce and Leader.
If the survivors are cleansing a totem in ten seconds, you should be happy they're bringing off-meta perks.
So all you do is nit pick on a couple of seconds?
Yep, i see now why you consider this combo strong.
