I don't know for sure why so many people get banned on these forums, but it's most likely because DbD players tend to get heated and start making things personal when they disagree. Avoid any sort of insults, don't accuse people of things, and don't tell people to "calm down." Also, don't compare things within the game to real world diseases. And don't encourage people to break the game rules by doing things like disconnecting against killers they don't like. Read the forum rules, keep things civil, and you should be fine.
I'm extremely negative about the game, but I've never been banned. I try to direct most of my criticism at the game rather than the players or developers. I also use these forums to sort of scream into the void sometimes, but I try to tell people when I'm doing that so that they understand I'm upset with the game, not them. It's good to err on the side of caution, especially since tone of voice is difficult to convey via text, and avoiding misunderstandings in the first place is better than trying to explain yourself later. (If you're making a sarcastic joke about something, you probably want to mark it as such, because every far-reaching opinion has been seen on these forums; in other words, someone will think you're being serious.)
-
I mean, I had fun with the original Mettle of Man. I never took it off. If I strategized just right, I could get hit and stay injured and totally counter Rancor, it was great. Doesn't mean it wasn't completely broken, the most powerful perk in the game, and totally miserable for killers to face. It was obvious it was OP and needed to be changed. I hated going against it as killer.
I know in DbD each side has to make its own fun and in general both sides aren't going to be having fun at the same time, but the devs still have to try to keep it balanced enough that there are players willing to queue up for both sides. If one side is having more fun than the other at all times, that's bad for business.
-
It's a meta shakeup. Like you're saying, this isn't the balance patch to end all balance patches. The devs are looking at a combination of what's popular and what's been complained about most and making changes. These aren't meant as "this will fix the game forever" changes, they're just meant to make a change to the stale gameplay loop. And in nine months to a year or something, they'll do it again.
It's unfortunate it takes nine months to a year. Really, BHVR should do meta shakeups more often. These changes feel permanent because they become annoying and stale long before the devs do their next shakeup. People will ######### and moan about adapting, then they'll adapt, then people will ######### and moan about the adaptations, and then eight months later BHVR will do something about it.
If BHVR were faster about updating, people might (might) complain less. Instead, things that are obviously problematic go live, and many things that go live take a stupidly long time to fix.
Still, as has been said, this is a meta shakeup. It's meant to get away from the gen-kicking meta that so many people hate towards a hit-and-run meta. Will it be successful? I have no idea, and really no one else does, either. And then in about a year BHVR will try to mess with the meta again.
As an aside, I'm just gonna say I hope BHVR leaves Billy's add-ons alone. Being popular is not enough reason to nuke something. You don't want to punish players for having fun, which is basically what this nerf would do, because no one would call these Hillbilly add-ons OP.
-
Yeah, in my list of Pros and Cons for playing DbD, the many Cons outweigh the one little pro of Double Daily Ritual BP. Such a small incentive suggests BHVR doesn't understand how unhappy many of its players are at this moment.
Good news is I'm amassing a huge hoard of eggsplosives in Dying Light 2, so that's cool.

literally everyone in every game with matchmaking thinks their MMR is too low and they are playing with people so much worse than them and the matchmaking is surely broken and its just so unfair.
you arent as good as you think you are and the matchmaking works fine. work on getting better rather than looking down on the players around you.
A horribly large number of my teammates either AFK in lockers or crouch around the edges of the map. How do I improve my MMR? Even if I do like they do and hide from the moment the match starts, waiting for the hatch, hatch escapes do NOT increase MMR. Anyway, I'd rather uninstall the game than waste my time hiding for multiple entire matches, that is neither fun nor a gameplay loop that should be supported.
Considering I do not AFK or hide all match, I actually participate, I should not be in lobbies with these players so freaking often.
-
I think they make a lot of their money off cosmetics, anyway. New chapters are released to keep the gameplay "fresh."
Either way, people shouldn't buy stuff they don't like just to support a company. That only encourages the company to continue doing that thing the customers don't like. If BHVR fixes the chapter and the customers like it, they should but it then, but not before.
Vocal complaints mean very little. You vote with your wallet.

My friend just made the mistake of trying to play solo survivor. Friend was the first one chased and during it ran by someone who was AFK. The killer downed my friend, downed the AFKer, then hooked my friend in the basement. A moment later, the killer downed Bill who tried to pick up the AFKer and put him on a hook. The killer then pulled the final survivor, Dwight, off a gen and tried to get him to make hook saves but he ran off and hid instead. My friend and the Bill both died.
Obviously, my friend depipped for that. Totally fair.
That was the first and last match. It's not even uncommon for a match to go that way, but it's so frustrating. My friend turned the game off because who wants to queue up just for that? Basically the only thing that happened was he lost previous progress made. Depipping kills any desire he or I might have to play the game. No other game I've played has included such a de-motivational mechanic to chase away its customers.
If anyone's curious, we spectated a bit before turning the game off, and the killer was trying to get Dwight and the now-returned AFKer (who NEVER GOT HOOKED) to do gens. Freaking why? Five gens left, no one touched a gen at all after my friend died, so I can only hope Dwight continues to hide and the AFKer continues to beg for death and the killer severely regrets not just killing them. Goddammit, guys, can you please start hooking AFKers first?

The developers of Prison Architect found themselves in a pinch of legal trouble recently when they were contacted by the British Red Cross over the game’s use of a red cross on a white background to denote health. While that may seem harmless, turns out it’s not allowed.
“The red cross emblem or similar designs are not general signs of ambulances, health care, first aid, the nursing or medical profession, or similar matters. Moreover, they are not signs to be used for commercial purposes, such as for advertising campaigns or on products.”
I'm guessing this is the reason.

Unfortunately I don't see the new changes being done as positive. For One I am going to find the view of the heart distracting unless it's optional. That change alone will stop me from playing the game altogether. Devs need to stop trying to people please. Whenever something is complained about they instantly adhere to. The complaining will never end. There will always be something else for people to complain about..... Also the bloodweb, what if I like taking the time to pick and choose what I want and don't want? Guess it doesn't matter cuz medkits are garbage like everything else in the bloodweb now. If everything in the bloodweb is garbage then what good is blood pts? Double blood pt events are not gonna incentivize me to play cuz the value of them dropped. All those perk changes are terrible as well. There actually gonna nerf dead hard so you need to get a safe unhook? Are you serious?? I personally am not a dead hard user so it won't affect me much. But, I think if people like playing a certain way and use certain perks, let them have there "FREE WILL!" Also we can't burn Wraith anymore?? What a joke. COH nerf sucks too. If this game dies it wasn't the Devs that killed it, it was a half of the player base.
I am going to find the view of the heart distracting unless it's optional.
Of course it's optional, it's an accessibility option for people who have difficulty hearing the terror radius. It says it's optional right in the Dev Update: "When enabled in the Accessibility Options, a heart will appear in your Survivor’s chest whenever the Killer’s terror radius can be heard."
Also the bloodweb, what if I like taking the time to pick and choose what I want and don't want?
The Bloodweb works exactly the same as before with new options added for making the process quicker. Nothing is being taken away from you.
if people like playing a certain way and use certain perks, let them have there "FREE WILL!"
So all perks should always remain the same forever? Yeah, that's not happening.
we can't burn Wraith anymore?? What a joke.
What the hell does anyone need to Lightburn Wraith for? It's Wraith. The Lightburn mechanic was just annoying and gave Wraith players a good reason to dodge any lobby with a flashlight.

Run Self Care and Botany. Those have been permanent parts of my loadout for a long time. It's the only way to actually ensure I get healed in solo q, and Botany helps not just self-healing but with the large number of killers who run Sloppy.
-
If a killer can't protect the hook, then why not just slug? It already saves time not carrying someone to a hook, prevents a survivor getting off the killer's shoulder, and takes away any and all benefits a survivor gets for being unhooked.
The cages move because they're not hooks. Survivors don't get endurance or any of the benefits of unhooking-related perks. PH also doesn't get any benefits from hook-related perks when he cages.

Yeah your right, every single game that I lose 3 gens on the first down as the killer could just afk at the gate and not have to worry about depipping until I get a match that I get 2 hooks before the first gen pops while all those other survivors ars stuck playing gen simulator.

Thats an interesting point at what rank do you start to actually think about that I'd bet its not bronze or silver but up into Iri/gold feel free to correct me If I am wrong.
Regardless how is removing depipping and increasing the number of people who first hook suicide going to help your game experience? How will you pip when a killer gives up and doesnt interact with you and you cant get points in half your emblems anyways? If bad teammates are your main issue then get a group play together to pip up and then once you've done it go back to solo queue, thats a problem with a pretty simple solution.
It starts the moment depipping comes into play at bronze and just gets worse with each successive grade. It is absolutely ridiculous that I can stay at the same grade for a week or two in gold or iri, pipping up and then depipping back to the bottom over and over again without making progress. I don't get stuck for weeks like that in bronze/silver, but I can still have numerous bad matches in a row where I depip from one away back down to zero and it takes a stupid number of matches to actually make it to the next grade.
Regardless how is removing depipping and increasing the number of people who first hook suicide going to help your game experience?
Because if I can't depip then what's it matter? People already do hook suicide all the time. At least I won't be so negatively affected when people do something out of my control. If I can't depip myself, then I can continue the match as I want and not stress. Oh no, I'm the only one the killer's chasing and not getting gen time, at least I can just enjoy the chase and not feel like, "What's the point? Why bother? I'm going to depip no matter what, might as well just stop and point at a hook and get out of this."
Things that are out of my control already happen. Depipping for things out of my control is what ruins the experience. I can deal with bad matches and if I'm not worrying about pips then at least I have the option of trying to make the best of what I'm left with. When depipping is an issue, there is no making the best of it, it just sucks.
thats a problem with a pretty simple solution.
Not really. I've tried playing with others before, and I don't enjoy it. Social anxiety plus a living situation with weird times when I can play and which may require me to stop suddenly due to an emergency; sometimes I can fit in one match and that's all, that's not good for group play. As is, I can play solo or in a duo with a person who is in the same room as me. Even though I play in a duo as much as possible, that still means two other randoms who can tank the match.

That's so unfortunately that you fear even playing the game. I have huge anxiety to play when im close to new grade and need that one pip and then have game where im 1 point away from pipping and then depipping 2 times a row after that is jus devasting. Makes me question why do I even play this game.
Yup. Exactly. There's a stupid amount of pressure, and a lot of it is out of the player's control. As a survivor, you need the perfect lobby: they can't be so bad that they're useless, but they also can't be so efficient that they gen rush and get out before you've had the chance to work on all four emblems. Both of those are bad for a player trying to pip, and there's really nothing a player can do about either of those, it's out of their control. That's terrible design! It's one thing to have a bad match because of your teammates and another that it negatively impacts you beyond that singular match.
Killer has a similar problem. I think in my last match I was backfill for a lobby that lost its first killer, and I knew it but didn't dodge. The whole match was miserable, and even 4k'ing and getting the pip to make it to the next grade didn't make me happy. I couldn't just have fun in that match, I had to play to pip and it was stressful. I haven't played killer since.

@kingcarl2012 said:
As always I will state my basic point, depipping has value.
I will agree that safety pipping should be easier, bronze/silver should have the bronze safety pip requirement and gold/iri should have the silver safety pip requirement.
However depipping is currently the only punishment for early game hook suicides, and also gives someone a reason to keep trying in a losing match.
As an example lets say your playing killer and get matched against a much better team and are getting stomped, what is it that you are continuing that match for, provided you dont DC because you wanna avoid the penalty.
BP -pretty irrelevant because your getting stomped you wont get much anyways.
Fun - probably not having much of that while your getting stomped and probably bullied.
Pride/Spite- this will obviously depend on the person
The safety pip - is one of the few legitimate things to actually strive for in a losing match.
If you didnt have to worry about depipping at all ever, whats to stop survivors from letting go on hook in a losing match or a killer going AFK at the gate in a losing match.
If the safety pip requirements were lowered as I suggest depipping would be much more rare and as such much less painful wen it does happen, Rarely is it complained about in bronze/silver, it is usually in gold/iri that it becomes a problem.
De-pipping is an unhealthy mechanic. Me and other players I know are much more likely to dodge lobbies if we have pips to lose. I become very judge-y of my potential teammates when I have pips. Too often I've had matches with bad teammates who give up or refuse to play, and even if the killer feels bad for me and gives me the hatch I still depip because the match was such a mess. If I play a match and depip, I turn the game off and often avoid playing for at least a week. It's bad enough to queue up just to be at the mercy of a bunch of teammates who AFK in lockers or crouch around the edges of the map, but to lose progress because of it? DbD can screw off. I get far, far too many of those kinds of matches.
If I have pips, the worry of depipping overshadows everything else about the match, and it makes the entire experience of playing not fun. Even winning and pipping isn't fun when depipping is a possibility. The whole thing chases me away from playing the game at all.
-
My friend and I would actually play the game more if depipping were removed. Even though we try not to care about pips, it still stresses us out and we just avoid playing for long periods of time. We're able to have a lot more fun if/when we hit iri 1 because then pips aren't hanging over our heads.
We have pips we don't want to lose so we haven't played for a while, now.

Im afraid of depipping so I dodge lobbies which look good. But when im on new rank with 0 pips I never dodge.
This is my reason for dodging lobbies as well. The more pips I have to lose, the pickier I get about my teammates. If de-pipping were removed from the game, I'd probably never dodge a lobby. Having a bad match is just part of the DbD experience. Having a bad match and de-pipping for it is what I really can't stand.

You might find easier matches doing so for now but that doesn't fix the game in the long run...let bhvr collect their data so the game can get balanced.
have you no empathy for that poor new killer who has just 10 hours in the game and gets thrown into that swf group with more than 5000 hours between them?
it is getting to the point that we are bleeding the new player base and they won't stick around(we still should have had the numbers from the first resident evil dlc but that dwindled).
So what are your thoughts on lobby dodging?
I'm not going to play survivor with multiple Claudettes in dark clothing as teammates. I've had enough of those matches to know I get tunneled out first thing because I'm the only one the killer sees and those Claudettes will never, ever leave their bushes to take aggro. No thanks. I'll also dodge a lobby if someone thinks it's cutesy to switch to my exact character and outfit.
it is getting to the point that we are bleeding the new player base and they won't stick around(we still should have had the numbers from the first resident evil dlc but that dwindled).
DbD hasn't kept new players for a long time. New customers pop up for the licensed DLC and leave because the asymmetrical gameplay isn't to their liking. There's not a big market for asymmetrical games, most people aren't going to enjoy this gameplay loop. Hell, a lot of the long-time players kind of hate the gameplay loop.
DbD was never going to keep the majority of people who came over for the Resident Evil DLC. The Stranger Things DLC had a better chance for retaining new players, and in that case the bad matchmaking actually did chase a lot of them away. I remember an influx of forum posts from new Stranger Things players who liked DbD and wanted to play but were miserable about the bad matchmaking. With the Resident Evil DLC, I saw more talk outside the forums where the Resident Evil fans just did not enjoy DbD at all and there was a lot of buyer's remorse; matchmaking wasn't talked about as much as other elements.

It should have a range of 10-12 meters, the duration should be increased from 30 to 40 seconds, and it should work once per hook phase, not hook instance.
I still cant believe they nerfed the perk so hard from the ptb.
The nerf from the PTB was awful. All they needed to do was give the survivor on the hook the option to reject being Reassuranced and it would've been fine. Instead, the devs practically killed the perk's value as a tool against campers.

There are still chase points to be had, the idea you guys are trying to to put out there is false. Anyone can look avg. chase points vs that and see that people still leave with a substantial amount.
There’s already too many items on both sides. It’s not an issue they can and will solve anymore so no harm done
Wrong, loads of harm is being done.
The Healing Meta is crazy right now. Survivors don't need even more points for Medkits.
Generators are flying by I am seeing BNP very often and twice a game. Survivors don't need even more points for Toolboxes.
Survivors have enough for now and for a long time.
But... on Switch I put every Bloodpoint I make as killer into survivor. Does that mean my BP gains as killer should be lowered?
Survivor BP gains suck, the killer and my teammates have more control over what I get to do than I do a lot of the time, and if I max out in whatever category I've been stuck in then I often just refuse to do it anymore (which may mean insta death) because it's now become a waste of my time. Other players I know are the same way. It's a bad system.

Do you know how Blood Warden works?
- The Exit Gate is opened.
- Hook a Survivor.
- Blood Warden works on the opened Exit Gate.
Blood Warden does not work unless a Survivor is hung on the hook after the Exit Gate has been opened.
Therefore, it is not a bug.
Inaccurate. Once an exit gate is opened, Blood Warden activates, and the auras of survivors standing within the exit gate are shown.
-
Why is the map so grey?? There's no contrast, visibility is so low, it's absolutely miserable to be there. I usually just tell survivors to do gens and leave me alone so we can get the hell out as fast as possible. The place hurts my eyes.
I don't like it any better as survivor. I have run into a dead end in the corner of the map so many times because I just can't read the place. Again, grey, no contrast, how am I supposed to navigate that?
-
I recently did an old challenge that required using Any Means Necessary. The killer I got that match never kicked pallets for some reason.
I made his life a living hell and I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me he quit the game forever after that match.
Pallets are a limited resource for a reason. Survivors are supposed to use a combination of vaults and pallets to keep a chase going. If they waste the pallets, then they should be punished for it. Yes, it sucks ass when my teammates waste pallets and I'm left with nothing, but it would be hellish on killers if survivors suffered no consequences for their actions.
-
On survivor I guess Empathy would be my comfort perk.
On killer my build is Distressing, Beast of Prey, Lightborn, and Deadlock. Lightborn is probably my comfort perk, though all of them perform functions that keep me "comfy." Distressing is double Deviousness gains, BoP is increased Hunter gains, and Deadlock is a lazy no-input-required way of slowing down gens so I have enough time to max out Distressing BP by killing zombies.
-
Even when they work properly I can't get the goddamn things done on Switch, which means I can't tell when they're broken, either. Merciless Storm exists, I wish the devs would replace all the Yellow Glyph challenges with Red or Blue Glyphs and be done with it. Not being able to complete challenges can be a real problem on the Tomes.
-
May I ask what it is you're actually trying to accomplish with this post? The smiley and winky faces suggest it's satire, but the goal is unclear. Or is this just meant as criticism for BHVR's HUD change?

For some reason I keep getting "Blink hit as Nurse" on my Switch. It's like the game knows that Daily is literally impossible on this sub-8fps console port of DbD.
It'd certainly be nice if we didn't get Daily Rituals for characters we never ever ever play.

I think they're better off improving killer powers over increase gen times. stronger killer powers are more fun for killer to play and the survivor is less bored on generators.
Yeah, increasing gen times is the last thing I want to see. Improving killer powers would be nice, but the biggest problem is the arms race the devs have going between killer and survivor perks and add-ons. Killers get slowdown perks, survivors get speed-up perks. If one side brings those perks and the other doesn't, the result can be devastating. There's no way to balance for that.
-
If we're going to make gens take longer, then can we make them fun somehow? Because they're super boring and sitting on them can hardly be called "gameplay" as is.

The killer has to kill, the survivor has to survive.
We survived as long as we did. There are even perks in game that help stealth mechanics working much better. So you are saying me that a simple gameplay mechanic being used by survivors is a bannable offense? The generators are indeed objects to use in active matches, but it's survivor's will to repair or not. Those 3 gens were close, we should be into generator and give killer easy kills?
Is this how this game now is killer-sided and killer crybabies are acting right now.
the survivor has to survive
No, escape. The survivor's goal is to escape. If you're not repairing gens so you can open the exit gates, then you are not attempting to escape, which means you are not participating in the game. If you're not going to do gens, then go interact with the killer, get him to chase your or just let him kill you, otherwise you are holding the killer hostage.
Hiding on the map without touching gens is easy, it's not an accomplishment and no one is impressed.
Is this how this game now is killer-sided and killer crybabies are acting right now.
I despise teammates like you. You are the reason I turn the game off early most nights. If I could take the weapon from the killer and put you on the hook myself, I would. Stop queueing up if you're just going to quit participating the moment things get hard.

The killer's job is to find survivors and kill them, that's their primary options.
The survivor's job is to repair, and hide, help teammates. The 3 generators were nearby so we went into stealthy option, which is a part of survivor gameplay.
Thus saying, slugging is considered to be game hostage scenario because survivors aren't able to repair and help their teammates, yet killer doesn't use his option to hook survivors. So?
The game is not designed for killers to search the map to find survivors. The game is designed for killers to patrol gens to find survivors. That is why doing generators is the survivor's primary objective. If the game were simply hide-and-seek with the killer actually able to find survivors by searching the entire map, generators would not need to exist.
"Stealth" is not an objective. Stealth is a tactic survivors can use while doing their objective, which is to power the generators.

Yeah that's pretty dumb lol
Did the killer have no way out tho? Or was it just usual solo queue
Just usual solo queue. The killer was Skull Merchant and she was running a build entirely centered around skill checks. Even if No Way Out had been in play, the survivors avoided the doors way longer than NWO would require. My friend finally sandbagged one of the other survivors who was crouching in a niche and then he opened an exit gate himself.

I'm guessing de-pipping is an outdated remnant of the old ranking system when it used to be for matchmaking. It's really not necessary anymore now that ranks are just a way to reward players for dedicated playtime every month. It's a source of unnecessary frustration when I lose my pips as a survivor because I get camped/tunneled out of the match in the first 5 minutes through no fault of my own.
This is exactly what I keep saying! De-pipping made sense when it was Ranks and those were used for matchmaking, but Grades are only supposed to really represent "time played" to reward BP and time played can't go backwards. There's no reason for de-pipping to remain, it's a frustrating mechanic and makes bad matches feel worse than they already do.
-
Console needs actual anonymous mode like PC has. I really liked that short period when anonymous mode accidentally went live on console, I had it enabled the entire time and felt so much better knowing there was no baggage from any previous matches carrying over.
-
I do that when I have a stun challenge, but that's all.
-
My friend played against the bots and was surprised that they seem to be more competent than the teammates we get, and now we're both just sulking that we can't fill the empty slots in our public survivor matches with bots.
-
Are they still bugged? I frustrated myself for many, many matches thinking it was the Switch's performance problems.
Back when I only did it on PS4 I thought the Yellow Glyph was nifty, but I'm over it, especially since easily half the killers I face run Merciless Storm. BHVR should just replace the Yellow Glyph challenges with Red Glyphs or Blue Glyphs and call it a day, because even if they "fix" the Yellow Glyphs they'll still be frustrating as all hell (if not literally impossible) on some consoles.

You call that an "immersed survivor"
One that, by definition, tries to play it as safe as possible in order to not die
These though of course, are the bane of any team as they are mostly interested in surviving themselves, usually because they have a challenge that requires them to escape and/or found a rare item they would like to escape with
Yeah, I stay away from that term because I've had people claim that immersed means they're still doing gens but smartly hide when the killer is near. Even before the HUD it was pretty easy to tell when someone wasn't participating, but there's no question about it now, so I try to be specific. It's not unusual for me to find those survivors with idle crows, either, which means they're not "playing it safe," they're just refusing to participate.
I recently watched three survivors refuse to open the exit gate while the fourth ran the killer around. It happened to my friend and I was frustrated beyond belief just watching it, I wasn't even playing. You can't even call that playing safe, it's just stupid: the gens are done, the killer is busy, everyone is still alive and no one is dead on hook, open a door. The HUD showed that no one so much as touched an exit gate.

No problem, I read it and saw it disappeared and figured that's what happened.
From what I remember of your post when I read it, you're not wrong. I feel that BHVR is avoiding a lot of issues. I don't think they're stupid, I think sometimes they'll use any excuse to seem like they're responding to the question while actually avoiding the issue. I just want to give them fewer excuses.
I'm on console, I play on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. I am immeasurably unhappy with the state of things. Every update has my PS4 fans louder so I can hear less. Switch performance keeps going downhill, especially on the new maps. And there are still no goddamn response curve and dead zone controller settings. Pretty much none of my feedback ever gets a response. I just hope if someone else gets a response to something that they get a worthwhile response.

They can call it whatever they want. If it moves my "crosshair" to somewhere I didn't pretend to hit and he himself is admiting it can cause failed hits they should allow us to disable it. I'm not even asking for them to just turn it off, I just want to be able to toggle it on and off, so anyone that want to use it does and those who not, don't. There isn't any reason to not do it.
BTW, that's not what "Auto aim" or "Aim assist" do at all. You can still miss your shots with aim assist, and the "advantage" it provides in terms of "missed shots" depend a lot on how it is programmed.
You can still miss your shots with aim assist
Well yeah, of course you can, no one said otherwise.
I just want to be able to toggle it on and off, so anyone that want to use it does and those who not, don't. There isn't any reason to not do it.
There is a reason they won't do it: because every killer would turn it off. Aim dressing (according to the dev) never benefits killers. If that's the case, then there is no reason any killer would ever keep it toggled on.
The desire to turn "aim assist" off has been brought up before, and the only official answer I've seen it get is the explanation of the difference between aim assist and aim dressing. If a forum poster wants a different response, my best advice would be to use the terminology the devs insist on and request something more appropriate, like fixing aim dressing so it stops hitting trees and rocks. As much as I'd like the option to turn off aim dressing, it's unlikely BHVR will let killers turn off something that isn't there to really benefit killers in the first place.

The part about aim dressing not helping getting hits is false. I have multiple times simply spun my camera after blinking as the Nurse and "Aim dressing" forcibly locked my camera onto a survivor I did not even see and would have otherwise missed by overturning.
They may call it whatever they like, their aim dressing is effectively aim assist and suffers the same problems that this feature has in other games. It is just deplorable that they have not given us an option to turn it off after 6 years. It is just negligence at this juncture.
I was trying to point out what the devs have said in the past so that people could formulate a more adequate request that might get a new and more desired response. People on the forums have brought up wanting to turn off "aim assist" in the past, and the only response I've seen it get is that it's not aim assist because it doesn't assist. It's unlikely we'll get any response in the first place, but if we do get a response and we want a response that isn't just correcting terminology, then we should call it what the devs insist it is, "aim dressing," and we should point out how detrimental it can be to gameplay and that they need to improve it.
Asking the devs to give us the option to turn off something they insist isn't in the game will almost certainly keep us at square one.
If you want to get someone to address an issue, it can help to come at it from an angle to which they're more likely to respond. I hate aim dressing, and I want the devs to fix it so I stop hitting trees and rocks and corners.

The ability to disable it isn't in the game because it's not for us. "Auto aim" helps players get hits they otherwise wouldn't; that's not in the game. What DbD has is "aim dressing," which adjusts a killer's hit to make hits that connect look like they connect. Unfortunately, the way it works, it can screw up a hit. The difference between "aim dressing" and "auto aim" is that aim dressing will never help a killer get a hit they otherwise wouldn't. That's why we can't disable it.
Here's the source of my info (from a game dev):

It is the case. To explain:
Auto aim gives you a hit you otherwise would not have gotten.
What happens in DBD is that the game recognizes that you've gotten a hit by checking a cone shaped area in front of you for survivors, then pulls you towards them to make it look like you'd expect (so your weapon actually makes contact). It will not give you a hit unless you actually aimed at them. Basically it dresses it up after the fact.
That's not to say that it can't cause a hit that should have connected to miss- I'm not trying to convince you that it doesn't happen- but it's not "auto aim" or "aim assist".
EDIT: Just noticed the other part of the question.
It is not there to hide lag. To hide lag, you would have to predict their movement and move the killer on their screen in advance. This is not the case. If there's a lot of latency between you two, the killer will appear to miss wildly regardless. As the killer, you have the authority over hits. It's not compensating to help you out. What you see is what you get. It's purely just to make your hits more visually appealing.
Is this okay? No, it sucks, it shouldn't screw up hits and I hate that this is a thing.

The new Red Forest is bad for me and my friend because we can't see on it. Visibility is extremely low because there's no contrast, it's like a damn wall of grey. (PS4 Pro and Nintendo Switch, each on a different TV)
Pretty much refuse to play on this realm at all, it's just freaking miserable. It's bad enough that there's clutter everywhere and it'd be difficult to navigate if the stuff were clearly visible, but to navigate it half-blind? Screw off, game. I'd rather play on a normal map during infinite Nightfall than on the updated Red Forest.

I can't imagine why the license holders for Harry Potter would sell to BHVR. it'd be peanuts to what Harry Potter is making from their current game and other products, and it would dilute the Harry Potter brand.

You are incorrect. It's additive, not multiplicative. That is to say, it's +100% chance as opposed to x2 chance. That is why map offerings are always guaranteed when no conflicting offerings are used. If your multiplicative approach were true, then map offerings would almost never work on account of the sheer number of maps meaning a doubled chance would still be a very small one. The same applies to hatch offerings.
The map offering odds are not a guarantee, which is what allows multiple offerings to be used without causing a conflict. It's almost guaranteed, but not completely. The wiki says "Increases the Odds of being sent to the ... Realm by 9,999 %." So every once in a rare while a player is quite surprised that a single map offering was burned yet they went to a different realm.
For the hatch offering, the wiki says "increases the odds... by 100%." 100% is a lot less than the 9,999% of a map offering.

If nothing else, the HUD should show what hook state each survivor is on. I'm tired of someone being saved immediately after hitting second state and then I accidentally kill them. I shouldn't be surprised when I hook someone and they ######### die. That's terrible design. Sorry my memory isn't perfect, BHVR; I'm a human, not an NPC.
This becomes really annoying when survivors who've never been hooked are so eager to throw their dead-on-hook teammates under the bus. It gets confusing because you'd think someone who's never been hooked would be trying to distract the killer and keep their teammates alive because that's better for the team, but no, that's often not the case.

BHVR mentions in the patch notes that the yellow glyph is bugged, it's a known issue.

If you have the blasphemous blade, it can do beeg damage, honestly a monstrous weapon.
Halo scythe is a classic. Have you beaten the final boss yet?
I hate those birds
I have not beaten the final boss myself. I acted as navigator for my friend when he did his playthrough and got the different endings, and since I watched him beat it I'm in no rush. Last time I was playing I was practicing guard counters against a Crucible Knight in an Evergaol. I wish I could re-challenge bosses, it's unfortunate that's not a thing. Once I get the Crucible Knight low in health I have to let him kill me or I'll lose my sparring buddy.
I love the look of the Blasphemous Blade. I'm not good with greatswords, though. I usually go for fast moves and ranged weapons over slow up-close power moves in any game. Getting timing right is not my forte, which is why after a lot of practice doing guard counters it still often feels more like luck than skill when I pull one off.

Tried dying light but couldn't get into it.
Elden ring, however, is probably one of my favourite games, love running a strength build and going unga bunga. Excited for the dlc? What build do you run?
Hope you can play fatal frame soon
Faith build. I went in wanting to be a Confessor (also, I already watched my friend play through with a Magic build, so I wanted to do something different) and I've ended up mostly using the Halo Scythe to decimate my enemies. It goes pew pew and the Death Rite Bird's health drops by giant chunks, what's not to love.
I'm super excited for the DLC.

I mean the snowmen 2 years ago were completely broken and unfair but they were fun this past year. I don't remember anyone complaining about the pumpkins though, I always liked those.
Yeah, the snowmen two years ago weren't fair at all, but I think BHVR did a good job with them this past year. Killers being able to get in them too was fantastic.
I have actually seen complaints about the pumpkins. I don't remember why there were complaints, but I remember thinking those people were crazy for not liking something that could be kicked for some extra points.

First killer I really gravitated towards was Spirit, because I could use her to surprise survivors (Distressing for large TR, chase one person, then use phase to go to a nearby gen or someone healing and get the drop on them). I got compliments for actually scaring survivors by doing that, which made me quite happy. Then she lost collision and because I can't track via sound in DbD that really hurt me, and then the directional audio even within her TR was added so now she can't surprise survivors at all.
Then for a while I liked Blight (after his camera was brought up; playing him gave me awful headaches when his camera was low to the ground) due to his mobility.
My current killer is Nemesis. I find his tentacle satisfying to use. The zombies may be dumb as rocks and get their toes stuck on pebbles, but they're my bros.
My first survivor to main was Kate, 'cause she's hot. I've played other survivors on and off (Ash and Leon, mostly), but I've pretty much exclusively played Ada since she was released.
