  • I don't think Dead Hard is OP but it's the most... unfairly, perhaps? powerful among all of these. So yeah I wouldn't mind it if it was changed somehow.

  • Imagine if they gave Huntress a chase melody that fits with her lullaby.

Stridor on Huntress and Hex: The Third Seal on Hag

All the Iron Will gamers were annoyed, and the survivors were not happy when they carelessly ran into several of my traps, got downed in quick succession, and then had a harder time finding one another.

Third Seal is even one of the Hag's perks??? If I expect any killer to run that perk, it's definitely Hag lmaooo

Hahaha good one you're one of those newbs who has no idea what you can do with OOO, aren't you?

Just finished a game with OOO. Yeah killer was low rank (crappy matchmaking) but if you know what you're doing and can outplay the killer it's possible to use OOO and ghost the killer the entire match. As long as the killer isn't sufficiently better OOO is a huge help to any solo Q survivor and can help you survive all the way to the end.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FE0GE4FJOPAH/image.png

Funny thing apparently someone else had the same idea as me he also went in with OOO.

So you acknowledge that the perk is broken in its current state, and choose to abuse it anyways? Nice mentality huh. I hope you don't complain when killers either facecamp you or tunnel you out of the game 🧐

  • Freddy, because he gets everything done with zero skill and little to no input.

Spirit comes second but I'll take ten Spirits before a single Freddy.

  • Mr. X, Springtrap and an Outlast killer (maybe Chris Walker?) are the ones I want the most.

  • I love Supernatural, but while I wouldn't be against Dean & Sam getting added into the game, there are other franchises that I want much more than them.

Is detective's hunch niche? That's the only killer perk complaint I've gotten.

Omg it definitely is imo. I couldn't even imagine getting complaints for running that perk. Did you cleanse all the killer's hex totems? Lmao

  • People have given you great advice in this thread, but I want to add: play survivor. I don't know if you're already doing it, or maybe you find it boring and just play killer. But playing as the opposite role grants you a lot of experience on how people play that role, and will let you understand them better and even predict what they will do when you face them. For example, playing Nurse taught me how to play against Nurse better, because I understood the killer's power and its limitations a lot better. The same thing happens for all killers and even for survivors. If you get used to looping the killer as a survivor, then later when you play killer it will be easier to understand what they are doing and you will catch them a lot faster.

  • I would love this. I always want to read the lore but end up not doing so because when I'm in the game I'd rather be playing it. Given how long the queues can get, this would be awesome.

The forum posts themselves may be mostly positive, but some of the comments in the threads are very clearly against the changes.

Like I said, there will be people against it the same way that there's always people against anything that the devs come up with. The devs could announce an easier grind and some people would be like "but I like the current grind because it's tougher and it feels like you actually earned it" or whatever BS like that.

The general consensus about the DS change has been positive. It's the first time I see most killers and survivors agree about anything on these forums, well except maybe for the universal disliking the new UI.

And both killers and survs are even hyping the OoO proposed change!

  • It depends on the day, but most time it's at least 3 hours. Some days I spend over 5 hours straight playing the game, usually if my friends are playing too.

  • Oh boy me too! What I wouldn't give for a RE chapter honestly. Maybe this anniversary :D

  • I've been on the forums practically all day since yesterday when the change was announced and 99% of the posts have been praise to the change, plus a lot of hype for the OoO proposed changes. Coming from both killer and surv mains. The very few complaints I observed came from survivors who didn't understand how the "healing" part of the change works, they thought that if a fellow survivor tapped to heal them for 1 sec DS would be gone. But when it was clarified to them that it does not work like this, they were ok with it.

If anything, there will always be people who complain, but I find it odd to make a post like all survs are complaining when most of them (us? Idk bc I play both roles) are okay with the nerf??? Unless this post was made because of the survs attitude in other social media, since someone pointed out that on Twitter there are a lot of survs complaining, which does not come as a surprise to me since the Twitter folk are....... let's just say they are very particular about how game balance works, lmao.

  • Ah, that makes sense. I sometimes check the DBD Twitter acc and oh boy, some of the stuff people ask for in the replies... it's a whole different world lmao

  • Indeed! People often don't know this because it's not mentioned anywhere in the perk description for some reason, but it's true.

  • As survivor, being able to play with friends and have some fun.

As killer, I want to learn how to play most killers, if not all, that kinda challenge makes me really excited to play.

I also look forward to the next licensed killers (speculating & trying to guess is fun! plus I love seeing how the devs adapt our favorite horror characters into the game), and I usually hype the og characters too, since it's completely new content.

I'm pretty sure not pressing anything also deactivates it. Since I assume not hitting the skillcheck counts as failing it and thus deactivates it.

It doesn't. If you don't press anything, the perk does not deactivate and you can use it later.

  • I've barely seen any survivor mains complain about the nerf? Am I missing something here?

  • Oh I have witnessed an Insidious camper Huntress. The dude didn't even understand when we told him that it does not work like that in the post match chat.

Yesterday I had a Blendie in my team who was running Balanced Landing and Sprint Burst. Biggest 🧐 moment of my DBD experience.

    Oh nice! Thanks! :))

What other changes were made or just DS and Oooooooooooo

As for perks they only mentioned those two!

They mentioned other stuff, like Freddy, Huntress and Demo being the next killers to receive changes (nerfs for Freddy, add-on changes for the other two), but they didn't specify exactly what they will be doing with them.

They also mentioned that they are still working on keys, and that they'll adress the colorblind issues with the new UI.

They also said that they will fix Blight's FOV in the next chapter. And some bug the Legion has will be addressed in a hotfix soon.

This is pretty much everything they said.

  • "Yes" is probably the right answer but I love it so much how it is right now. I think that if the OoO nerf makes it into the game, it will be fine though.

  • There was a devs stream on Twitch where they answered some questions, around 4 hours ago. They put this image in it!

    Here.

  • If you're not the obsession, your aura won't be revealed to the killer every 40/35/30 seconds, thus you won't be able to see the killer's aura in those cases.

You can still see the killer's aura if they are running aura perks or add-ons and they activate. For example, if the killer has BBQ and hooks somebody, you will see their aura for as long as they can see yours.

New OoO makes it so that you can see the killer's aura when they can see yours. The obsession part of it makes it so that every 40/35/30 seconds your aura is revealed to the killer, thus allowing you to see theirs.

  • I wish that huge tree in the middle was made a little bit more interesting, so it would become more of a main structure instead of just being some random big tree in the middle. But I'm okay with this too.

  • I really like Otz, but my heart will forever be with Tofu. He's so funny.

Also honorable mention to Bronx, who is great too!

  • I do. I hope they implement it so we can see how it works!

  • Spirit is sort of in between to me because she went through literal hell, which does not justify her following actions, but she went crazy with thirst for revenge after what her father did to her and to her mother. She literally experienced one of the worst things a human could go through, and it's no wonder she became what she became afterwards. I would lean more on the innocent side. Although I'm not that familiar with the lore, so maybe I'm missing something.

  • You mean that they would whine when someone makes a thread with ideas for perks for a licensed killer they want in the game? 🤔

And those 60k are all DBD fans? Doubt it, I bet an overwhelming majority are solely Fnaf fans, also petitions are what? Absolutely nothing. As I said, if the devs add it, thats on them, we cant control that.

Absolutely, the fact that a petition exists does not mean that it will happen. Just pointing out that 60k people signed. 60k, in relative numbers, is a lot bigger than zero 🤔

Not even arguing with the "I bet all those 60k people are FNaF fans only" because you have zero data to back up that claim. Not to mention that, if that were the case, that would mean that a bunch of new people would be getting into DBD if Springtrap got added into it, and more people getting into the game is always a good thing. If possible, please refrain from "but all those new players would be 12 year olds and that would be bad for the game" me, because you don't have any data to back up that claim either.

  • People who believe Freddy is perfectly balanced. Anything else I can do with but this one... holy #########.

If the majority of the community is continuously shutting down these topics shouldn't that be a hint that no one wants it?

There was a petition going on that 60k people signed supporting FNaF x DBD. 60k sounds a bit far from "no one" to me.

The fact that threads about FNaF x DBD keep showing up in these forums (to the point of being obnoxious) is also proof that there are, in fact, people who want FNaF x DBD.

"FNaF doesn't belong in DBD" too bad some of the devs think differently, given how a couple of them have shown their interest in adding a FNaF killer to the game.

Last but not least, if you don't like the idea you can simply ignore it. No need to be a douche.

  • Congrats nevertheless :D adept achievements are tough, so getting them not only once but twice is quite the achievement to me!

  • I hate facing Freddy with the passion of a thousand suns. Spirit and Hag are also annoying but I'll take them any time over a Freddy.

Coincidentally, Freddy and Spirit are the ones I see most often. Bubba has been showing up a lot, too, since his rework.

The killers I like versing the most are Demogorgon, Blight, Billy, and Nurse. Godly Nurses are unfun to face because you can do nothing against them, but good Nurses are extremely fun to play against!

The killers I see the least often... probably Demogorgon and Plague. Blight is also somewhat unusual to see.

  • The problem to me lies at the core of the game's design. There's stuff for both sides to abuse, and there's nothing that individual players can do to stop it.

Tunneling, camping, and slugging are strategies that will guarantee you at least one kill if done against good players, usually two or three if you do it against mediocre ones. The game is poorly balanced for the 12 hooks goal that it presents during the tutorial (and in the upcoming UI), to the point that the three strategies that are mentioned above are usually more reliable to get kills. A killer can abuse any of these, say for example tunneling: they tunnel a guy out from the game and there's nothing that individual survivor can do about it. The other three might escape if they rush the gens before that first dude is dead, but that one first survivor is absolutely dying. And if the other survs aren't efficient enough (which is usually what happens in solo Q, because of lack of communication and poor matchmaking), the game becomes a 3v1 pretty quickly and there's little the remaining survivors can do if they didn't rush the gens early. The same thing applies to camping. As for slugging, it's a bit different (and the reason why I don't find slugging as scummy as the other two) but given that killers usually need to slug to slow the game down I think we can all agree that it's more reliable than going for normal hooks.

Survivors, on the other hand, can take advantage of the poor balance around gen speed + map sizes. If they split up and are efficient enough they can get all five gens done in like 6-7 minutes, even less if they carry toolboxes + perks like Built to Last or Prove Thyself. Many killers lack the mobility to stop this, and even high mobility killers can't be in 3 places at the same time. If you hook someone and BBQ shows you 2 survivors in 2 different gens, you usually have to gamble. Let's say you are running PGTW, you go to one gen in hope that it does not pop right before you get there, and also leave the possibility for the other gen to pop as well because you can't go to both of them at the same time. Which is the reason why many killers choose to disregard gen defense almost completely and defend their hooks instead. The game encourages you to protect gens in the tutorial, but many times this can't be done in the actual gameplay. Specially on low mobility killers (but not only).

Survivors can also abuse perks like DS, UB and BT to make the killer waste a lot of time. These perks are necessary for the three strategies I mentioned above, DS is slightly useful against tunneling, UB is useful against slugging, and BT is reliable against camping. These perks exist to stop the killer from abusing strategies that wouldn't be a thing if the game was balanced around 12 hooks. However, they can be easily abused: survivors will aggressively unhook their teammates in front of the killer, and the killer won't be able to take advantage from such a move because the unhooked survivor will have BT + a whole minute of DS protecting them. They can instead go for the unhooker, but it is unfair that, in a situation where the killer is literally gifted with the presence of two survivors in the same place solely because they chose to unhook safely, they can not take advantage from it immediately. Not to mention the unhooked survivor abusing BT to bodyblock, and the 59 secs DS the killer may get stun with without even tunneling.

However, how can this be fixed? I don't think it's that easy. You could nerf the survivor meta perks, and then the tunneling and/or camping would be rampant. You could buff the killers so that 12 hooks is actually feasible against equally good survivors, but this should be done with extreme care because it would be make tunneling, camping and slugging even stronger. If killers become so strong that they can actually 12 hook, it's only obvious that their current strongest strategies would become even more reliable, too. At the same time, gen speed + map size is a difficult subject, because making survivors hold M1 for longer is not a good idea, since it would make the game boring as heck and most survivors find chases the most enjoyable part of the game. I'm in favor of survivors having a different objective during the early game, so that gens don't pop that crazy at the start of the match, but this should also be implemented with care because it can make currently strong killers insanely deadly, and the above strategies mentioned even more reliable.

Not to mention that the devs try to fix core design problems through perks; this is a statement that I read someone make long ago when I just had started playing, but it took me a while to figure out how true it actually is. Gen speed is a problem if survivors split up, so they introduce slowdown perks (such as Ruin, PGTW, etc) to compensate. Pressuring multiple gens at the same time is not feasible for most killers, so we got Oppression, maybe Surge, also Ruin. Totem spawns are #########? Have Undying and Thrill of the Hunt. Killers camp? Use BT or Camaraderie (lol). Killers slug? Have Unbreakable, Soul Guard, etc. Killers tunnel? BT and DS can help you. And so on. Perks should not be there to fix design problems, imo. The design problems should be addressed themselves, and perks should give the players... perks. Small buffs, information that they don't have basekit, etc.

And then there's what you mentioned: many players lack empathy. Many killer mains don't give a ######### if the survivors are having an awful time because of the strategies they abuse. They don't care if the survivor being tunneled has a ######### time because "it's not their duty to make the game fun for others", because "survivors do not care to make the game fun for the killer either", because "the game allows it, the devs have said that tunneling is ok", etc. Empathy goes beyond any of these, it's looking at the situation from the other person's perspective and understanding how they feel. The same thing happens the other way around: many survivor players don't care about the killer's experience of the game. They will click click their flashlights, teabag, abuse the perks that they can abuse, rush the gens, all for pretty much the same reasons I mentioned above: "the game allows it", "it's not bannable", "most killers are scumbags anyway", "I don't care about the killer's fun".

But then again, the problem lies at the game's core. There is stuff that both sides can abuse, most of it being part of the core game design (+ the mentioned perks for survivor), and as long as that game design remains unchanged, there's little that either side can do about it. One can choose how they play, I usually try to be polite and not do to others what I do not like being done to myself. But I get people telling me that I shouldn't care how the other side feels and just play how I want. To some extent, it's a philosophical matter.

  • As for myself, most times I play SWF, sometimes with one friend, sometimes two, many times 4-man SWF. It depends on who's available to play tbh.

When I'm by my own, I usually prefer to play killer, but I'll play solo survivor if I have some sort of ritual or archives I wanna do, or if I want a small warm up before my killer matches.

  • I'm around level 90/100 with Doctor and the bloodweb still refuses to give me BBQ lvl 2. It's so ######### annoying. So I feel you.

  • People that are like "just wake up and negate him his power lol" do know that waking up against Freddy is probably one of the most annoying things to do in the entire game, right?

    • Go to one of his clocks, which will always be literally on the opposite side of the map because it's been programmed so that it spawns as far from you as possible. Waste a lot of time going there and coming back to whichever place you were before. Be asleep again in 90 secs. Not at all efficient, might as well stay asleep wherever you are instead.
    • Miss a skill check, hence revealing your position to him and losing progress on whichever gen you're on. Epic gamer moment! And he even has an add-on that denies this.
    • Have someone else wake you up, which requires that one person to be awake (fair) but will take longer and longer each time this action is repeated. So it becomes an inconvenient thing to do sooner than later.
    • Let Freddy hook you. I mean, duh.

Not to mention that all the stuff mentioned above will be undone within 60 secs (90 if you wake up in one of the clocks, but those are located so far from you that the extra time amounts to pretty much nothing) or if Freddy finds you and hits you. Boom! Asleep again. That whole trip to the clock, missed skill check, or finger-snapping from your fellow teammate is gone and wasted.

"Don't get hit then" hey! You're so right! Too bad I will fall asleep again in 60 secs anyway, no matter if I get hit or not.

  • Sorry but preparing an update and not giving a somewhat accurate date of release is poor management and communication. I don't care if they need to delay it for whatever reason and people start whining like little children. That's not enough of a reason to not provide any approximate date for when the stuff is gonna be released. I would much rather they provided a specific date, and then if they need more time they can be like "hey so this is gonna take a little longer, it will be released on xx/xx instead, sorry guys". And let the kids whine.

I understand if it's like "we're planning to do this some time in the next six months so we can't provide an exact date yet". But this is not the case. They released the update in the PTB. We're not talking about a six months period.

I've been waiting the past three weeks for them to make some sort of statement about when the update is coming. And then they have the nerve to complain when people take the word from DBDLeaks?

Actually, his upcoming buff is very good especially for the more open maps. The problem is he didn't get purple windstorm base kit. He also needs a new ability other than cloaking.

As far as I've seen it's still easy to spot him from a somewhat longish distance. He should be completely invisible until like 8 meters imo.

  • Currently playing lots of Doctor so yeah

  • She has amazing add-ons but they are not the problem, the Spirit herself is.

  • The problem when facing the Twins is that if they don't turn the match into a slug fest they aren't getting more than one kill maybe unless the player is some sort of Twins god, so as a survivor you know you are most likely escaping and there's no thrill to that.

On the other hand, if they do go for the slug fest, you know they are winning no matter what you do because Victor is just too fast and he gets hits that he definitely should not get. Not even Huntress' hatchets land such FALSE hits. Thus you just know you're definitely not escaping and, once again, it's not fun at all.

Idk what the devs were thinking when designing these guys.

  • If they are delaying it, it better be because they are changing that awful new UI thing.

  • From easiest to hardest:

    SWF - Killer - solo Q.

The difficulty of the killer role is very dependent on which killer you are playing, of course.

  • I wouldn't mind that speed boost if the perk didn't entirely go away the moment the obsession is dead.

  • Is it fair? I don't think so.

But honestly? Let Pig have it. Her power is so unreliable and RNG based that honestly let her have it. Maybe one day, if the devs decide to give her some love and make her less RNG-reliant, we can talk about changing these add-ons. Maybe.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 15
