not really, Bubba's chainsaw isn't really an anti-loop measure, most likely it comes against you
Did you miss the rework? You can force so many pallets with Bubba. Not even a sprintboost can outrun the chainsaw.

Picking Otz as an example is a bad choice. 95% of players aren't on his level or understand the game as mechanically as he does.
Yes you run across swf constantly at red rank and if you want to pull the streamer card go watch FunGoose. Extremely skilled streamer like Otz and just as mechanically knowledgeable. He plays survivor its always either duo or full swf. Watch Puppers play survivor and loop red rank killers for minutes on end. High ranked players skew the stats so much from their amount of time played. If you're 3k + hatch every single red rank game then it's a farce. You're probably dealing with purple rank survivors because no matter how much BHVR wants to claim its out MMR still affects games. If I play Myers or Bubba (my two main killers) its always 4 red ranks, usual game is 1-2k because they don't give a rats ass about teammates or totems. They plant on gens and by hook 3 they have finished 4 gens while properly splitting up for the 5th.
If I swap to Blight or Trapper (2nd most played pair) the ranks I play drop to a mixture of red/purple. If I go Nurse or Billy (arguably 2 of the strongest killers) the ranks are all purple some mix of greens occasionally.
There is an easily observable skill gap in survivors who KNOW when to drop pallets or take a hit to position themselves. Or pre-drop a pallet to help them set up. BL 1 is the catalyst for them to learn these skills. Without it the game is going to revert to find killer shack and be safe in an infinite, all the time killer spent chasing me is wasted now haha!
Good to know that i am one of the top 5%. In most games its hard to know that because of SBMM. For example in Apex Legends i lost so many times and my ranks says im atleast top 20%. In other games i win and im not sure whether i am good or the game gives me weak enemies.
And i never doubted that good survivor are almost unbeatable. I think 4 survivor on my level would beat me as killer most of the time and i have not even 1000 hours as survivor.
And i suspect MMR, too. With Hag i get 100% more sweaty squads, but with Ghostface im getting bad players and i cant even remember when i lost with him. So its not tied to your winrate. Maybe playtime, i mained hag a year ago.
I get not many purple atleast in the second half of the month after rank reset. But i see a lot of red rank players who are making dumb moves. But when i really would get worse players all the time and win because of that it makes no sense. I have this high winrate for over a year now, so the game has no reason to give me weaker players.

Personally I would rather they focus on map and tile placements before touching BL. The small maps have caused random double and triple pallet spawns. Ungodly LT walls spawning right next to each other (not just on McMillan). The problem, their solution was breakable walls... Which means killers have to invest time or give up a chase to cut down a strong loop.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1764248#Comment_1764248
Dude I dont really care about your anecdotal "I constantly 4k at red ranks". You are either lying or playing some obscure server that isn't NA or EU. 3k+ hours in this game on PC and console combined and I've seen enough people claim the perfect every game even against swf. Stats don't lie and if you honestly think BL 1 is irrelevant then I can undoubtedly know your full of it. Good killers dont always bait pallets or break them. Mindgames exist for a reason, a 15-20 second chase against a good, and I mean actually good, survivor is optimal.
BL 2 and 3 might be crutches but also abusable if you chase some soloQ that lead you directly to a gen being worked on. Easy pressure but thay doesn't always happen. Safe pallets should be broken but an unsafe pallet that a derpy survivor tries to hang around gets punished hard by BL 1 and lunge as it should. It keeps the small loops playable and lets killers catch survivors who venture into dead zones without having to work around tile terrain collision and get frustrated at a slight angle off getting you stuck.
Its normal to 3k + hatch almost every time. Just watch most streamers. Otz plays EU and he gets 50 win streaks. Crossplay enabled could make it easier. Or playing on console without Crossplay.
Does that mean you win most oft the time against swf death squads? No but you almost never meet them.

@IrishRedCap said:
Shorter loops on new maps are moot without BL. Drop 1 pallet run to next short loop and with positioning you can make it easy to abuse before having to drop pallet or mess with aim assist to screw with killer.
Long loops are going to turn back into semi-infinites with proper positioning and practice. If survivors can't keep a timer in their head then the devs literally removed the last skill cap survivors have.
BHVR bending the knee to the almighty $. They can sell more skins for survivors and get a player base if they cater to the 4 over the 1.
You are playing since before bloodlust and still struggle against average red ranks? Nobody should depend on BL for that. BL helps only to secure one safe kill. Against the rare 5% survivor-team who isnt braindead, BL is useless too.
I want this noob mechanic gone and instead good maps and fair loops. No Cowshed, Haddonfield or Ormond. No house of pain.

This is why I've taken a liking to Beast of Prey. It's an incredibly underrated chase perk.
It's a permanent choice on my Ghost Face since I'm essentially in Night Shroud allowing me to crouch around loops without the survs seeing my red stain.
Its okay. But only for new players who struggle with a chase. Hiding and showing red stain are good tools for mindgames. When you have no red stain, the survivor will make a random choice. And then the killer needs to be lucky. Its surely effective against bad survivor, bc they fall for moonwalking every time, too. But against good survivor you want sometimes to double fake and without red stain you cant do that.
The only problem i have with red stain is that sometimes a survivor can see it through a wall.

Its laughable seeing all the entitled survivor mains drool over BL removal. They don't look at actual times and just REEEE about being downed.
88 seconds for solo generator. 1 killer 4 survivors. Split up and with a half-competent survivor they can loop minimum 35 seconds. This is them falling for any killer mind games and not understanding tiles. The first hit already gives you ample time to reset yourself. 3 seconds of blood wipe + a speed boost makes killers 115% a joke. Then with optimal time and frankly dumb survivors not counting any pallets you are looking at a minimum 12 seconds of blood wipe. 2 seconds of picking up animation and a crippled speed of the killer while carrying to hook survivor.
By this time 2 if not 3 gens can be completed if not 80%+ finished. Regression is an absolute joke mechanic without PGW and tapping makes it irrelevant if you don't waste a perk slot.
Congrats 1 hook in you've completed 3/5ths of the game on your end...
If you're even half decent 4 gens goes by the time you get 2nd or 3rd hook because you can't chase and pressure multiple gens at the same time.
BL 1 is a necessity to stop abusing of chain loops and greedy survivors who don't want to drop pallets knowing they have st least 2 hooks prior to death.
Its true in theory you could play braindead with this strategy and win against almost every killer. But most survivors are too dumb for this strategy and im speaking about red rank. Thats the reason i win almost every game as killer and i dont even need to try. And the reason why the kill statistics are too high.
Its so easy too understand and you dont need to be good at a mechanical level. But almost nobody plays like that and that can make solo survivor so frustrating. When everybody would play like that you could nerf survivor and they would still do fine. But no, one weak link can change an entire match.
Can someone explain why so many players dont want to learn the basics and how you could make them learn?
And i want bloodlust removed, i dont need that.

Going to play survivor now. The game was already difficult with swfs on coms with object of obsession and ridiculous gens speeds even with undying and ruin. Im not skilled with Billy or nurse or huntress so no reason to play killers like ghostface or Michael who will never catch survivors without blood lust.
When you rely on bloodlust to play a stealth killer you are doing something wrong.
-
It wouldnt change that the skill difference between red rank survivor is too large. One weak link loses you the game.
4 good solo survivors are better than an average red rank swf.
It would fix the sweaty swf problem, but normal swf would get stomped in this playlist. Matchmaking time would be high. There are not enough killer (reason why green rank killer play against red rank survivor) and most of green ranks would play the normal playlist.

So testing core mechanics in the game with this busted matchmaking seems like the right thing to do to you?
you are welcome to white knight as much as you want, but don’t come at me if you can’t understand that getting numbers in current matchmaking is pointless. There is no baseline.
First its no reason to be insulting.
Second then you need to wait for the MMR-System. The matchmaking system is busted at its core, even a match with only red ranks has a great difference in skill level. It would be optimal to have MMR first, but then you need to wait forever.
At least when the matchmaking is always busted, you can compare the data.

And what other point was that? There's easy ways around dublication of items. And I'm sure far more clever people than me have already though out how aswell.
But what i'm just interested in is having ways to negate Black-Ward as in having White-Ward being non-negatable. Either way works for me.
But I'm pretty certain most Killer Mains don't feel the same way. They tend to get a bit defensive about such things.
So I'm up for suggestions.
I dont know whether we can compare the two wards. You can keep items after a match, but not killer addons. Maybe white ward should only work for item addons and Franklins shouldnt affect it. Dont know whether everyone would duping addons then, but i think you could just buy new addons in the bloodweb.
Negating black ward is not a good idea. How would you balance that? You need only one survivor to negate something from the killer, the other three can bring what they want.
And the strongest survivor offerings are map offerings. Killer can counter them, but sacrificial wards are rare and you dont know whether there is a map offering or not.

I feel like rushing the hook is likely to give you more bloodpoints though, at least per amount of time spent. You die faster but you are getting a big chunk of bloodpoints in that short amount of time, instead of a similar amount spread out across a longer period of time. It can also be more fun, especially when the other three survivors are doing this, and you are sitting on generators without any interaction while everyone else is having fun.
In theory a meaningful rank system would alleviate this somewhat, as rushing the hook and going down a lot will likely decrease your chances of getting a pip as opposed to playing smart and working on generators or regrouping to heal.
Exactly. Its not motivating when you do gens, everyone rushes the hook and trades until everyone is dead and then they have a lot more bloodpoints then you.

Don't get me wrong I love this game, I play survivor and killer. Recently I have noticed ever since cross-play has came out mostly red ranks play so toxic for no reason, I've seen green ranks play better than most red ranks. It doesn't matter what perks you run some killers still decide to tunnel, camp and even bm on hook for no reason I understand survivors can also be toxic as well as killers but for people who actually want to play the game and have fun can't because of this reason. When I play killer I've always been fair but yet still have came across some toxic survivors. It doesn't matter if you play survivor or killer their is always toxic on both sides its just so annoying for myself and others to enjoy the game. Just wish people were not so toxic!
I think when someone doesnt play both sides they have a higher chance to lack the empathy for the other side.
Plus the toxity is too common. Its easier to be toxic when the game has the reputation to be toxic and you see it often.
And of course what BioX said.

If the survivor recovers from the dying state you wouldn't see his/her aura anyways, so I add a small after effect to Deerstalker and I plan to have this effect have synergy with other perks I want to balance.
I know but when you have slugged more than one, you see nobody when you become undetectable.

I would prefer the aura reading from buckle up for deerstalker. Would be a soft counter for unbreakable. The Undetectable only weakens the slugging potential of deerstalker, when its depending on the terror radius. I personally dont like slugging builds, but there is no other reason for deerstalker.

The problem is that some breakable walls are better, when not broken. Every wall break should help the killer.

Honestly, I only play this game to have fun. Here is a list of why red ranks killer isn't fun.
- If you don't play perfectly, the game ends in 6 to 8 minutes. Not enough time to enjoy the match.
- Survivors regularly bring oppressive items. (Keys, Syringes, Styptics etc)
- Survivors regularly run extremely unfun crutch perks. (Decisive Strike)
- Survivors who want to win will split up on 4 different gens and there is absolutely nothing you can do to get more than one of them off in a timely manner
- The safe loops in this game are too safe and too numerous in how many exist in any given map
As killer, the exact same problems still exist that did years ago. Survivors are in complete control of the match. After 2000 hours I have come to know that Survivors who want to win will win 99% of the time. Survivors that are doing gens constantly, bam bam bam bam bam gens gens gens, wasting no time crouch walking around dumpsters or doing dull totems or even cleansing Ruin/Undying. Gens gens gens. When they do that, you feel helpless. What? How did 3 gens finish in the first chase? It's not just me either. I've watched a lot of the community's favorite streamers suffer the same experience. Otz, OhTofu, Truetalent mostly.
Boom boom boom gens done game over.
I don't think increasing gen repair time is the answer either. But, I really wish something would be done. I just want so desperately for this game to be fun at the competitive level but it isn't. It just feels so unfair all the time.
This game is the most fun at ~ 12 - 15 minutes a match, lots of chases and back and forth moments. Just like how games ending in mere minutes to gen rush isn't fun, so is slaughtering a bunch of noobs unfun. I don't want to 4k every match, I don't even care about kills. I just want to have fun and right now... yeah, it just isn't. Survivors jumping in lockers in front of me because they have DS from being hooked even though I wasn't chasing them. Unhooking in front of my face. Keys every other game. Syringers/Styptic pretty much every single game.
I guess i'll just play civilization?
You are technically right with a lot of this points, but there is one problem with it. Reds ranks are not the same. There is a reason why Otz can do 50 win streaks or why the statistics looking good for killer.
Most of the time survivor in red rank get stomped bc its too easy to get there. I know this good teams who are using everything and its frustrating, but how often do you get them?
Sadly we need to wait for a good MMR, so that the devs get better data. But im scared for the matchmaking time.

I haven't commented on "fun" at all. What I have said is that all of those things, which the DEV have said are valid and acceptable are there for a reason. I argue it is for variation, different tools and applications. Without them the game grows stale.
Ok variation is a good point. Would you say camping is a strong or a weak strategy? My perspective is that i do win streaks with different killers with no addons (yh i copied Otz) and i see camping as no consistent win strategy.
For the other point: i think camping gives the killer against new players a big advantage and there are two problems with it:
Its hard to counter for new players: they have no fun with the game and leave. Bad impact for game health.
Camping has a low skill ceiling. Killer will not get better and have no chance against good survivor.
-
@Moundshroud said:

It is in the game for the same reason as any other tactic; it provides choice and variation. The Killers are not Bots, and wanting to reduce them to the Ghosts from old Pac Man, running in endless loops with you would be extremely boring. Camping, Tunneling, Slugging, and the Mori have their place.
Moris have a place. Really? Can you explain that, otherwise when you really think moris in their current form should stay, it makes no sense to argue with you.
"Running in endless loops with YOU"
My arguments are not coming from a survivor perspective, i play both sides at Rank 1 for two years, i say that from a neutral player role perspective.
99% gens was a tactic too, when killers couldnt kick gens. This tactic got weakened. Only bc something exists, doesnt protect it from being changed. We dont talk about something so fundamental here. We argue whether theres enough reasons to change it or not.
And im saying it should bc it only works against bad players and its no fun for both players.
Now you can say why you think its fun or why its good to have something you can only use against bad players or how you can use it against good players.
And please argue only about my definition of camping with me. You quoted my comment, so you should have read it.

I also play Survivor and I find the time to do those things, with a little help from the other Survivors. I've also seen it accomplished on a regular basis when Survivors play against me. I'm simply telling you that it is not impossible, nor is it complicated.
In my experience it only works in the matches, when the killer gets destroyed the whole game. When he struggles to get one hook then camping helps not much. But when theres still 4 gens left, when the killer starts camping most of the time survivors give up.
So when i have a team who is good enough to counter camping, then its an easy match anyway.
You surely need only two healthy survivors to get the unhook and it works except against Bubba etc.
Some people call everything camping. But i mean with camping, staying near the hook to kill one survivor when you could do better things to win the game. I would still be fine with this camping when i would play swf or with MMR.
But the question is why should this camping be in the game? Its no fun for each side, boring and you dont get better. Is it because its the only way a weak killer can do something in a match? Then we need a better matchmaking.
Which are the reasons this kind of camping should remain in the game? Would it for example be a solution when gen speed is doubled when the killer stays too long near a hook when no other survivor is near? What are the problems with that solution?

Unfortunately, you cannot explain this situation to the killerr mains. When the killer sets up camp, there is time to hang the 2nd survivor on the hook even in the best scenario.Murderers do not like our explanation of this situation.
Dont make that a we vs them. I dont understand this mindset. I play both sides.

Shouldnt those survivors you know, learn to play the game and improve their skills and game sense? If a killer camps, do gens and punish them for not applying any pressure.
Also vice versa: If I see survivors hang around my hook preparing to hook dive and farm you can bet your ass I will camp their team8 as a punishment for doing that instead of gens.
When you see three survivor close, then your position is the best for the win. Im talking about always camping no matter the circumstances.
And its nobody i know. I mean all survivors. They will never get better or more bad survivors will get to red rank. You will get this bad survivors at red rank for eternity or til MMR.
To counter camping you need 3 good survivor and most of the time you dont have them.
My point is that camping is only good against noobs and neither the killer or survivor will get better.
-
@Axe said:
Sir camping is a strat you are just salty.... bring borrow time or deliverance if you got issues with it. If it helps killer win games and secure kills its a strat
I know the OP is not helpful for a discussion, but there is a point.
Camping is a strat, but it is too effective and easy against most of the survivors.
I dont say leave the area, when there is a generator to protect or when all gens are finished, camping has its uses. But camping all the time shouldnt be effective.
Otz did a experiment and won every match with camping + NOED. It showed that most survivor give up or dont know what to do. So Camping is a strategy to dominate noobs and we all know red rank is full of them.
But against a good team you still get two kills because the first one is dead when NOED activates. The argument with a first chase over two minutes is stupid, bc then the killer plays wrong and would lose every match. So you cant finish the gens to quick and cleanse all totems.
At last my personal opinion: i think camping is boring and we dont play games to be bored. I have fun to get better with killer and see the results, but everyone can decide how to play

So you want to punish the Survivors for playing well? Or give the Killer free Slowdown for playing poorly?
I think they should implement something like that to make tunneling less attractive. You should need hooks for it, so you work for it.
But they should wait until MMR is live and the matches are more fair.

You’re a bot. Doctor is “OP” in the sense that he can counter everything. “OP” doesn’t mean he has to be extremely broken. And obviously you’re a bot if you think he’s not, or you just get paired up with bots. But I’m talking about going against good players here, not against the bots you go up against that made you rank 1
Counters everything? Ok he counters stealth, but when you are good you dont need stealth. Counters gens? I have no problem against madness skillcheck and i play at 30FPS. And the skillchecks are the same no matter how good the Doc player is.
Counters looping? He can do it better then a killer without a power, but most of the killers can do the same. When you cant change your strategy, its your fault. Sure Doc gets a 100% hit at unsafe pallets, but this hit is easy to get with every killer.
And only to make it clear: rank 1 is not worth mentioning, i got there with less experience, harder pipping conditions and when the rank reset was a real rank reset, but it surely was never hard to get there. So dont use it to argue

how when he slows me down with his shock wave and doesn’t let me throw down the pallet? You’re a clown lmfao. I know how to loop and could probably do it 10x better than you. Doctor is definitely an op killer.
He does not slow you down with his shockwave. And most of the time you can run around another time and then drop the pallet. Sure there is a distance to the pallet where he can get a hit with his shock and you cant do anything, but its his power like a demo shred. Dont get in this position.
And you shouldnt complain about bots as teammates, when you think Doc is op you are a bot too.
Rank 1 means nothing, i play Rank 1 solo since two years and i met so many rank 1 bots.
-
I dont think stealth is the best way against deathslinger. Sure when you hide perfect, it works against every killer with no tracking. But when you are found, you are screwed. And deathslinger has a smaller terror radius, so its harder to hide. Dont give a deathslinger a normal first hit, then a shot and you are down in 5 seconds. The first health state needs to be a shot, make him reload. Waste time. Make distance. He is only 110%. You need to abandon the idea that you can run him forever. Some strong loops (car loops) are useless against him, even shack with a dropped pallet is not safe. Sometimes break line of sight and leave the tile, he needs a long time to catch up, but use objects to block his shots.

I would say the problem is that most survivors are simply not good, SWF has many info advantages, but the biggest advantage is having 4 good players. One weak link can change the entire game. Spreading out at the beginning is important, but every time at the start of the game someone wants to repair the same generator. (15% slower)
Or one player waits at every pallet for the killer instead of holding w.
Im playing most of the time solo survivor and depending on my teammates it feels like i play two different games.

You don't need all perks to be equally powerful. Thana has place in the game with Legion and Plague, not all perks need to work with all killers. Also your ideas don't make sense. You don't win with 3 perks dedicated to slowing down gens, who cares about thana combining with other perks.
I dont know whether new Thana is good enough with Legion or Plague in spite of the synergy, before the buff it surely wasnt.
When its weaker then Ruin, i should play still Ruin & Undying on every killer. When its similar strong, nothing stops me to run both.
Which idea makes no sense?
You win with 3 perks dedicated to slowing down gens. Look at tournament builds, look at high streak builds, look at Otz reliable killer builds.
Let me make it clear: i dont play with many regression perks and i win almost every time, but when i would tryhard i would play gen regression. It is the best strategy.
