Okay, in the midst of all this MMR depression and general complaining, I feel like I should make my bias known:
I am a Killer main, but I HAVE played a fair bit of Survivor, so I understand a fair bit of both sides of the conflict that runs amok in this community.
That being said, lately I've been running a build I call "Fast Feet Wraith".
The premise is simple- Windstorm Blood and Windstorm White.
My current perk build is Dying Light, Furtive Chase, Discordance, and Pop Goes the Weasel, and this combination of perks and addons is actually terrifying for Survivors, since I can track their stacking, run over to them almost faster than Freddy using a teleport across the map, and rough them up.
The best part is that Survivors who go for the light burn get smacked anyway.
What do you guys think? Am I scum?
Needs more PWYF IMO: for maximum zoominess.
Swap Furtive for PWYF and you can farm quick stacks off your Obsession when you meet them by uncloaking and cloaking before nyooming over to your Dying Light tokens- er, I mean, the non-Obsession Survivors.
Or swap out Discordance for STBFL and go full Michael 'I Ignore Tbagging Flashlight Neas Until Everyone Else Is Dead' Myers, as long as you're confident in your own tracking abilities.
-
Strong meta build? No.
Reliably helpful build? No.
Zoomi Wraith Twinkletoes? Yeeeees.
-
How could you think that [insert noun here] is [insert descriptor here]?!
Clearly you're just a [insert insult here] that needs to git gud!
-
I like Wraith but his outfit will 100% be a pain to use on console.
Also it's just not that good of an outfit IMO. I just don't dig the Ghostrider aesthetic on Bing Bong Boi.
Everyone and everything else on the Rift is whatever.
I've been off DbD for a while, and I don't see myself coming back for this Rift.
-
Unless I'm playing a build that has no flex or a Killer without it; in which case I play around the Key (i.e. Slug others if they're on death hook and Key isn't, focus on Key as much as is safely possible, pay attention to where I death hook Key and/or of it's still in their hand at any given time, etc.)
6 times out of 10 Key is just some goober playing alone or with goober friends, so I can ease up a bit.
But those 4 out of 10 times, it takes everything you've got to try and counter a squad with a Key.

Was playing pyramid head and had 3 hooked one of the survivors and i think 2 hooked the other 3 ( i was trying to be fair and maximize my sacrifice points i was going for adept ph) last 3 get stuck in a 3 gen so i think i pretty much got this in the bag since none of the gens are that progressed. Nope just so happened one of the survivors found a purple key in a chest and told his 2 swf friends where it was and 2 of them make it in before i body block the 3rd and shut it hook him and he dies. Sadly i did not get all iridescents so no adept ph love this stupid item. I know people compare moris and keys but i don't think a mori allows me to kill 4 survivor's at the same time while a key can let them all escape (if their alive) .
My condolences on the failed Adept.
They're stupid difficult nowadays, and I don't get why you need a 4k + Quad Iridescent when a 4k with just the Killer's teachables can be challenging enough.
If you keep at it with the Adept I'm sure you'll get it tho. From the sounds of it uou woulda got it that game if it hadn't been for the Key.
Speaking of the Key Escape, you hate to see it, but at least you managed to bodyblock the 3rd dude. They didn't all get outta jail free because of the chest RNG.
It doesn't happen that often though, and Peanits said they'll look at both Keys and Moris.
Personally I almost always bring Franklin's, just out if paranoia. I'd suggest that in the mean time.
It won't help that much if they're smart/lucky, but it can still make a big difference.
-
@Taiga said:
A key is definitely weaker than a mori.
I don't see how that matters.
Spitting on someone's face is less offensive than punching them in the face, but that doesn't mean you're free to spit on everyone because, "Hey, I'm not punching them. Could be worse!"
It doesn't matter if one's worse than the other; this is about Keys and the problems with them.
Talk about Moris and how crazy stupid they are in an appropriate thread.

It is, I've gotten it as Survivor and Killer.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug though, because those cars can spawn a tree and tires to act as LOS blockers.

Hahaha more like she has a nice face, scream, etc (i love some survivors screams and others i hate them, like fengs).
Well that's tough. I don't think any of the Survivors make especially cute noises.
Maybe Nancy? She probably has the cutest pained noises and her face isn't as DBD-ified as most licensed characters.
That said, if DBD Heather actually looked like Heather I'd definitely vote for her.
-
What do we mean by cute?
Like, 'adorable child/puppy cute'? "Awww! Cute!"
Or like, 'she has a nice face cute'? "She looks good."

Two injured survivors being chased together, stopping every so often to tap each other to get the boost and presumably trying to loop the same area? I don't see that strategy working out well often. People brought up 110 killers but would you really want to try something like that on a huntress/spirit/slinger?
Chiming in as a Huntress main; two Injured Survivors trying to loop the same tile is a recurring wet dream of mine.
I'd imagine the same is true for the Hag mains, Spirit mains, and STBFL users out there.
-
This post makes me think of F13.
Y'know, someone should just replace Jason and the Maps in F13 (the Survivors are all original characters).
A little balancing and attention from competent devs and it could be a great game (if you're unaware: F13 features proximity chat and walkie talkies to extend chat range).
-
But I digress, while I think there is 100% merit to the idea of walkie talkies as items to allow communication in asymmetric horror games, I don't think it has a place in DbD.
The way DbD deals with items (charge based things that you can only use one at a time) would discourage their usage in Solo Queue.
As of now Solos with items are best served most games by using a Medkit so you can quickly heal yourself, a Key so you can get usage out of it before they're inevitably nerfed with Moris, or a Flashlight as a way to potentially save other Survivors or click and get other Survivors' attention if necessary.
Walkie talkies would have to compete with those items, and I think they'd struggle to.
Why?
A walkie talkie would be useless if nobody else brings one.
And even if they do, you're depending on the other player to both be listening and care enough to act on your info.
From the perspective of a Solo Queuer, who isn't surprised to see a DC or a hook suicide in the first minute, why bother?
It's a huge risk with a variable reward.
Mechanically, your suggestion needs work.
It's not a terrible suggestion tho; and you could probably think of ways to smooth it out.
However, I personally think communication is too powerful of a tool to be tied to an item.
Such a HUGE part of this game as Survivor is just knowing where to go and when to go there.
It shows in the potential of the sweaty 4 man using Discord and in the almost universal revilement that Killer mains tend to treat SWF.
Cross-map communication should just be basekit, with Killers buffed and the core game altered to accommodate.
Kill the SWF - Solo gap the only way it can be, bring Killers up to SWF's level, and the game will be in a much better spot balance-wise.
Giving Solos SWF level communication, but linking it to items would just be a band-aid.
And a hard to correctly implement one at that.
TL;DR ::: Communication strong. Should be basekit, not item based. Buff Killers and alter the core game mechanics as needed to compensate.
-
Also my sympathies for the tiredness; insomnia sucks.
Edited: Spelling errors and cleared up a bit in the middle that was kinda rambly.

@Unfun_Tunnel said:
This is a message to all survivor mains out there. I don't want to argue, I have just one request. Considering how unbalanced this game is and the very little time required to do gens, tunneling is necessary and it's the most effective strategy. Give me one good reason not to tunnel, I'll wait. (No "because it's not fun" accepted, genrush isn't fun to go against too)
Because pressuring only one Survivor and just letting the other three do whatever they want is a good way to get few points and depip.
Seriously, slugging is the way to go if you want to 'win', not tunnelling.
-
@T2K said:
Honestly I dont think tunneling is the way to go for "winning". If you are up against a good team they will punish you the same way as they punish camping. The only reason why tunneling is working is survivors unexperience. With tunneling you cant build up pressure until your victim of choice is dead. Slugging is way more efficient as you split pressure, get survs off gens, save time by not hooking etc etc.
Tunneling is tbh just scummy and works against less ecperienced players. Do what you want but dont promote a bad strategy.
This, 100%.
Tunnelling relies on the Survivors to suck.
And sure; it can work and it can work often, because nobody who plays this game is a god; even 7k hour players can and will mess up.
But if we're talking the best strategies from a mechanical standpoint, slugging is FAR better.
Even one slug pressures at least 3 people (unless it's a SWF using Unbreakable) AND it punishes Survivors who don't heal, encouraging them to take time off gens to heal.
As long as you're smart about when you slug, it will never let you down and can sometimes net you a quick 4k.
With tunnelling, even if you do kill one guy early, you can still easily lose to the 3 remaining people as long as they don't 3 gen themselves.
-
Extremely unlikely; according to the devs Freddy was changed not just because of how most people found him unfun to play but also because people found him annoying and confusing to play against.
Also, as much as I like Old Freddy, he was very much RNG based, even with his skillcheck reducing add-ons it was very much RNG whether you could apply enough slow down and get enough information out of your aura reading.
When it went his way he was unbeatable; a slugging god and a slowdown master - uniquely able to sneak up on and surprise Survivors at a level greater than Scratched Mirror Myers if you used Old Red Paintbrush and M&A.
When it didn't go his way though, you could become a joke; staring impotently at Survivors as they repeatedly failed Self-Care skillchecks in your face.
Obviously most matches were somewhere in the middle - with the skill of the opposing sides usually being a deciding factor, but it still wasn't a good feeling for either side when you did win or lose just because of RNG.
I loved Old Freddy's unique power - trading immediate aggression for ultimate information and slowdown; but it being based around skillchecks made it unfair - and basing it around specific interactables would either make too weak or too strong (depending on the accessibility of the interactables).
I'd love to get Old Freddy back too, but he had a lot of issues that were nigh unsolvable.
He needed his rework.

Yup, I came to PC around 3 months ago but been playing this for a decent amount of time.

actually, as far as im aware, the DC penality system was disabeled due to an exploit in the system allowing certain individuals to give others who didnt deserve it a lengthy timeout (happened live on stream with Tru3) for literally no reason at all.
to prevent that from happening, the devs disabeled the system for now and are working on a fix for the problem.
after said fix has been made, the penalities will be back.
the problem you're on about is also an issue, but i dont think its the reason why they turned it off. we had that before aswell and the system wasnt disabeled - though it would certainly be nice if they fixed that too!
I wasn't aware of that - the only things of Tru3 I've seen have been videos on this forum and clips of him in that old montage video about all the problems DBD had that made it Survivor-sided.
Fingers crossed they're able to fix both of the issues, sooner rather than later.
-
I've heard they disabled because of a DC bug that's going around right now too; where you can just be kicked from the game for no reason.
So yea, not only is 'DC'ing because you're angry' back, but 'DC'ing because the game just decided to kick you' is back.
It's almost like we've gone back in time to the release of Darkness Among Us.
-
New Mori animations would be awesome!
But given how reluctant BHVR has traditionally been with creating new animations I wouldn't expect to see them anytime soon.
Especially in the Rift, where people could get them for just 10 dollars - a 10 dollars that also buys them every pass in the future since you can earn back the auric cells you spent if you complete the pass.

Both of these Killers are op, you literally don't need brain power to play with them. The Doctor just spams M2 and Myer's absurd small terror radius with a power like Evil Within just makes them unfair. Especially on small maps. Please nerf them.

If you want tips or help facing them, I'm sure no few of us would be glad to be help.

Nobody is saying that they’re clones but if you just focus on the middle part of Jeff’s face he definitely resembles Keanu. This has been said many times since he first came out. Google their names together and you’ll see plenty of people see the same thing.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3B8SVGFHBGCO/13f02c71-35c1-4775-89fa-0d6c1f5b8284.jpeg
Keanu + bigger beard + slightly chubbier face = Jeff.
Only superficially though. Also it's much easier to tell in that picture that the brow is very different and that Jeff's cheekbones are a lot softer.
They have the same eye color, similar noses, and they both have long hair, but that's about it.
That's not to say there's no resemblance; but I don't think it's that close. You wouldn't mistake Keanu Reeves for Jeff or Jeff for Keanu Reeves.
-
I've gotten multiple games with OoO too.
But for me the people with it just ran at me and let me kill them, and then suicided on hook.
One game I even had two people using it both doing this. After the first one killed themselves I just refused to hook the other one and farmed with the other two Survivors.
The only thing I can think of is that some people are trying to game the MMR system, but maybe there's something else going?
In either case it's about as unfun to experience as a SWF with OoO.
-
It's hard to tell in that picture.
Jeff's nose and cheeks look pretty similar, but the cheeks might just look similar because of the angle.
Their brows are different though, and it's not possible to see Jeff's jawline with that beard.
-
We already have Shirtless Frank tho :C
I know BHVR nerfed his beautiful green glow a while back, but he's still shirtless!
-
A Ninja cosmetic for Nurse.
Instead of Blinking they disappear in smoke clouds and reappear mid-air in a somersault that lands them in a crouch; one hand on the ground and another on their sword hilt until their post blink attack window ends.
Replace their default blink cooldown with them standing back up.
With their blink lunge they slash with a ninjato from their crouched position, and their cooldown on hits and misses is them sheathing it.
When just M1'ing a Survivor they stab with a Kunai.

@woundcowboy said:
So before anyone writes this off as a shitpost, I play both sides extensively. M1 killers have a skill cap that makes them feel unsatisfying.
There is plenty to learn as a killer in DBD, but m1 killers can only do so much. The game boils down to knowing tiles, routing and red glow mind games. Once you have those, there isn’t much more to do. You straight up can’t catch survivors at some tiles, and survivors are just going to be walked down if they are in the open.
This is why so many survivors hate spirit and Nurse, since they add mind-games that survivors have to play. The game should be balanced around all killers having solid mindgames. Sorry to ramble.
I mean, you're right in that an M1 Killer has a skillcap with their M1; where after a certain point there's not much more you can learn to do with 115% movespeed and an M1.
However that Killer doesn't exist.
Every Killer has an M2, weak or strong, that can be used to their benefit with skill. Maybe not always in a chase, maybe not without the chance of counterplay, and maybe not necessarily to great or fun effect, but every Killer does have an M2 power.
Even Legion and Clown (who are probably the M1'iest of M1 Killers) have a few neat things you can do with their power.
I'm not saying these Killers are necessarily fine, fun, and balanced. I'm just saying that every Killer has an M2 they can use.
-
I second this.
The rain and the sound of the armless, faceless, creatures wriggling in barbed wire was really soothing to me.
I don't want it to go. :c
-
I'm probably going to take a break after crossplay comes.
Because you just know there will be an influx of hackers. I mean, I've already faced a few Windows Store crossplay globes on PS4 and crossplay doesn't officially exist yet.
Call me paranoid, but I think it's gonna be utter insanity those first few days.

-
I get you're ranting, but please consider using paragraphs. It makes reading and understanding text a lot easier.
-
As for the topic, yea, people really shouldn't whine and complain.
But that applies to both sides. Not just people who play Killer.
In-game, people are free to use the strongest stuff they have available to them and use it how they want to while facing you. You are also allowed this.
If you feel something is too strong, you may calmly explain your reasoning here on these forums. Ideally providing suggestions to improve said thing.
But ranting doesn't really change anything.
As for SWFs on comms, they are crazy strong - having reliable team communication is a huge advantage to Survivors in DbD.
Whether it should eventually be part of the base game is up for debate, but in the current game it gives Survivors a massive advantage and makes a number of perks obsolete.
Make no mistake that it is a strong tool and that making it base right now would break the game.
-
Everyday when I boot up Dead by Daylight, I remove an unwanted killer challenge (Hook 3 Survs in the basement in one round), just to get a new worse killer challenge (Kill x Survivors by hand with the worst killers ingame in one round)
I get it's probably hyperbole, but 'in one round' dailies don't exist. Progress on dailies persists between games, so you'll get a daily eventually if you play enough.
As for being able to choose which role, the devs have said that dailies exist to get people to play both sides. I doubt they'll ever just let you choose which role the daily is for.
That said, maybe getting 1 guaranteed Survivor daily, 1 guaranteed Killer daily, and 1 randomized daily could be a nice compromise?
That way you wouldn't get handed a 9 Killer daily streak by RNG, but it'd still help encourage people not to just play one side all the time.

Actually his argument is he wants a fair and balanced game.
And wow I love how even a post about an illogical argument is somehow translated to "this guy never played killer before and I know this because of...reasons.. so burn him!"
You guys are too much.
OP isn't arguing. They're simply saying, for anyone that cares that:
I'm too damn apprehensive to hop into a match because most likely I'm going to be matched with people far outside my skill level. Not to mention sweaty swf can turn an otherwise fun match into a miserable one.
Also this is what they said, not "[I want] a fair and balanced game".
I just want a fair and balanced matchmaking system
As for the 'burn the non-Killer player' statement, what are you even talking about?
Me saying that you should be able to understand that winning =/= fun?
-
Glad you got the challenge!
I got it because I faced a Legion that just kinda wandered around and two teammates that basically did nothing - one started gens but never stayed on past the halfway mark and the other had 3 crows more once.
I just followed the other Survivor and made sure they never did a gen without me.
-
@Nickeh said:
You got a 2k and about 20k points, and decided you needed to write a forum post about how terrible that is?
The wait times, I'm right there with you... but the rest is ridiculous.
OP is complaining that the ranking system is causing them not to have fun.
If you've played Killer against Red Ranks/played Killer in the past 4 months you should know how possible it is to have a miserable game and 4k.
You can't argue with OP that saying they're not having fun is ridiculous because they got a 2k.
The two things are not linked for everyone.
-
There's a certain thing you can do to separate the head from the rest of the set.
The devs don't want people to explain how, so I can't go into detail, but it's a very simple exploit that I'm surprised more people don't know about.
Just know that it is possible and that these people aren't necessarily like hackers or anything.
-
I'd prefer Chris Walker, but I can't help but feel that an Outlast chapter would probably feature Billy Hope AKA The Walrider.
If only because it's easy to imagine giving a Nanite Ghost some cool and crazy power. As opposed to the struggle that would be giving a big guy who mostly just punches things to death a unique and interesting power.
-
I mean, it's always been a decent perk, but until relatively recently there were never that many Stealth Killers that you needed it for.
Wraith isn't fully invisible, Huntress' 40 meter lullaby was directional so you could listen and figure out her position, Tier 1 Michael was immune and has very audible heavy breathing, Old Freddy and Old Hag (who had stealth builds) were seen as jokes, and Pig uncrouched and crouched even more slowly than she does now: so she couldn't usually get a grab off on you unless you derped.
Sprint Burst also used to be meta, and it basically hard countered most of the ambush tactics.
With Ghostface, Deathslinger, Dark Devotion, Tinkerer, and Undetectable being things now, Spine Chill is a lot more valuable.
If it's meta or not, I couldn't tell you, but it's certainly more used and more useful nowadays than it was in the past.

Survivor bots make sense and I wouldn't be surprised if devs implement it. But killer bots are unnecessary unless you want a SP/co-op experience. But then people at end game chat will start to say they would have preferred bots instead of me.
A Killer bot would let you get points and continue to play the game instead of just immediately going back to matchmaking.
True, unless the AI is better than mobile's bots, it probably wouldn't pose a significant threat. But I think it'd be better than just having the game end.
Especially with the Rift challenges being a thing now. It could stop potential griefing over specific challenges.
-
Oh boyyyy there are so many things I'd love to see.
-
But if I'm gonna be realistic, I'll say have bots replace DCs.
Killer quits? Bot.
Meg quits when downed? Bot.
All the Survivors DC? It's now a PvE game.
-
Now if I'm not gonna be realistic. If I'm gonna be crazy and wild and stupid?
Make the game less of this squad based combat dynamic we have currently, and into more of an actual horror movie type scenario.
More 'Trapper breaks LOS around the wall to cut you off and jump in front of you, a la every Slasher movie ever, to be creepy!', and less 'Trapper uses bloodlust to catch you on your third loop around the tile so he can put you on your first hook, get his BBQ token, establish pressure on at least one of your teammates so that he can hopefully reduce the efficiency by which your team repairs generators by 75% as he chases one person while you're dying on hook and someone else takes time to save you before 2nd state blah, blah, blah, blah'.
People could still play Killer sweaty and try hard to kill everyone, but they would no longer be rewarded by that metric. It'd be more about being creepy and acting like the villain in a horror movie.
To that end all Killers would be given a lot more basekit tools to achieve that goal. Like no Heartbeat or Red Stain, more and better animations, map traversal powers so they don't spend so much time just going from point A to point B, etc.
Obviously trying anything like this would necessitate taking the entire game apart and building it back from the ground up AND risk alienating the massive player base BHVR has acquired over the years. So it'll never happen.
But I'd kill (tee hee) to see it.
-
The Pig is a she.
Also the Pig has no idea which box is your box, or how many you've searched. So if they camp a box, unless they can see you're close to death, they're just taking a guess. And even then it's an educated guess.
They can camp a box, but in general if they're going to, they're just giving your teammates free time to do gens when they could just chase and down you.
It's the same as Facecamping as Bubba IMO. You can basically guarantee someone dies, but it gives the other Survivors free reign to do whatever they want and isn't typically an effective strategy.
This is even more so for Pig, because you can just go do generators yourself if you see her camping your last box.
It sucks if it happens to you, to be sure, but it's both a terrible strategy for the Pig and something that relies on RNG going against you.
