The fact that its still at 4 and not even back to 3 is because BHVR went back on their promise a long time ago.
The original DS was 3 seconds, and enduring worked on all stuns, making DS basically useless. So they buffed DS to 5 seconds, with the intent that when they changed enduring to only work on pallet stuns, that they would change DS back to the 3 seconds.
This is reflected by the 2.6.0 patch making enduring work on all stuns. Then in 2.6.3 they made DS 5 seconds. Then in 3.0.0 the changed enduring to only work on pallet stuns, but didn't change DS to 3 seconds until 6.1.0. Then they made it 5 seconds again in 7.7.0 and then back to 4 seconds in 8.0.0.
So really, they buffed DS from its original plan of being 3 seconds (as it was originally designed) by the end of it.
I'll agree that a 4 second stun against a nurse or blight though is far less meaningful than a 4 second stun against a trapper. Its why i think that DS should also temporarily disable the killer's power for a few seconds as well.
Incapacitated debuff, but for killers. I can live with that for DS to be honest

That Wesker was hella good. The 2v8 one turned on us. His buddy wasn't interested in our nonsense.
These were good times. It's starting to feel like a distant memory with the current vibe.
Yes, it really does start to feel like a distant memory at this point.

Occasional friendliness amongst opponents is one of the things that makes the role and the game enjoyable.

I think the exhaustion perks as a whole need to be reworked.
If I was allowed to have my say…- Sprint Burst should be nerfed to cover less distance to counter utility.
- Lithe should be nerfed to cover less distance.
- Balanced Landing should remain unchanged.
- Dead Hard should remain unchanged.
- Dramaturgy should remain unchanged.
- Smash Hit should be buffed to reward skill expression.
- Overcome should be slightly buffed because it only activates twice in most games.
- Sprint Burst should work off of a longer cooldown instead of exhaustion (to prevent it from being paired with Vigil). Let's say something around 60-90 seconds. It should also be on a separate ability button, so that SB users doesn't have to walk all around the map.
- Lithe could have the time cut from 3 seconds to 2 seconds of 150% speed, based on the situation it is used in.
If used on a safe window, you get 2 seconds, but if it is used on an unsafe pallet, you get the usual 3 seconds. - Balanced Landing should have the speed component removed, and instead work on a 20 second cooldown timer. Increase the stagger reduction to 90%, so that it becomes more like a "parkour-based" perk.
Rest of the perks looks fine from your suggestion.
-
That should be pretty elementary.
If it is to show the history or evolution of DBD, it would only be natural to show older screenshots of the game. -

This has been suggested a lot. They should try it. It's a small thing that might help a lot, particularly againat players who brainlessly drop chase and return to the hook as soon as they hear it. You still have the HUD and your eyes. They could also just delay the sound by, say, 5s.
It was also available to playtest in the 9.2.0 PTB, and I genuinely liked the idea as an isolated case.
-
No. But I am wondering..
Why do we as survivors need to sit around and watch a mori for the N'th time?
If anything, I'd rather see the finisher mori system removed completely -

I have 1k hours. I started sense Vegna came out (The D&D Vegna). The MMR can still bring you with Experienced or Inexperienced players regardless of ur skill level. I play morely for fun but I do like winning my matches. I dont care if i lose because its just a game. I support any streamer regardless of Hours, viewer count or even what side they play. The only thing I dont support is Mean/toxic behavior.
I have run into several of these wannabe bully squads throughout my over 2000 hours of playtime. Usually, they exist only to be annoying, but some of them are also very toxic, especially if you outplay them

Yeah, except killers usually get BM'ed without having done anything "toxic" towards survivors.
Then don't let them get inside your head. If you know they got the door open, just let them find you far from the safety of the door instead.
The worst you can do is to show them that you are angry. That is going to feed the trolls more.
Just ignore them (letting them look stupid in front of themselves), or lure them out of the gate by hiding away, if they REALLY have to gloat.
-
@Junylar said:
Hard tunneling is the only reliable measure against teabagging at the exit gates, so survivors are living in the doomed world of their own creation.
You know the teabagging is the answer to bleedout slugging and humping, right.
You killer players are not any better, if you want to go down that rabbit hole.
Either ignore the BM, or keep on doing it. The only one to blame is yourself, if you keep on BM'ing, and the other side will BM back. Simple as that.I really don't condone BM'ing on either side, unless it is warranted (i.e. catching a cheater, or a blatant troll)
-
Trust me, once you have seen the different moris (in what feels like) a thousand times over, it gets pretty old, pretty fast.
Moris used to be special, not something you'd see every damn game. Sometimes the killer would bring the ebony mori, and other times, they brought an ivory mori. But the thing is, it wasn't guaranteed. The finisher mori was in my opinion, a very unhealthy update.

Lowkey curious as to what happened 👀 I took a long break way from DBD and here.
i have been away for some time as well so don’t have any details on Forum stuff and discussing bans is gonna get me banned anyway but there have been some debates about forum moderation, some mods left for various reasons, there have been some questionable bans (with the ban system being super weird but thats not new…).
As for the game itself, also nothing new i think just that balance, QoL and Quality Assurance seems always to be too slow/not up to the Standard you would expect with the game being arguably very successful and that not since yesterday.. (though the general direction is great.. but why are customizable colors just now implemented? Cross hair locked behind an addon? Just two current examples)On the topic of the game itself, the new Trickster rework and map looks really well done. So at least they got that.
I guess the crosshair behind an add-on would be like a test. It really should be an accessibility feature though. -

This is something that got discussed a lot and it was something that we spoke about on the forums, we never intended making this a big thing where people feel they need to strive for P100, it's more of a nice to have for people who have been able to invest the time into a character. If it was a cosmetic it would definitely feel more "valuable" and a must have for want of a better word (also could be problematic for licences etc), which is definitely not intended with prestiging a character.
I get the cosmetics part for the licensed characters being hard to get allowance for, but is it possible that we might at least get something like an animated banner, at least for reaching P100. It is a big time-investment after all
-
What a letdown. Definitely not what I thought a real P100 reward would be like.
I'd expected at least a special banner and a charm as well, or even a special T-shirt or something, that showed off the dedication to that character -
Biggest issue I see is that gens are being done in the corners first, which makes it much easier for the killers to pressure the unfinished ones
-
I have been wondering as well.
Since acquiring a new Radeon card, I'd really want to utilize FSR 4 (or Redstone) for smooth upscaling to 4K -

A lot rests on the survey response, it gives us a strong idea of whether to extend or not…the extension is not always a given.
I don't mind 2v8 being around, but I understand the frustration from people who'd rather play 1v4, who are stuck with longer queues due to more players preferring 2v8 over regular 1v4
Also, when talking about 2v8. Would it be possible to have that modifier becoming available in custom games? I know that is a feature that many people would want, myself included. -

Like it also shows the level of thinking on the killer side as its them thinking that tunneling wins them the match but in the end they don't think that maybe I should stop chasing this guy who is looping me a long time and find the weaker survivor that would be more beneficial to tunnel. Shows how disconnected they are even from logical thinking as they can't even decide to adapt when their tactic clearly is not working.
Exactly!
-
I mentioned in another post over in the general section that the game needs to fundamentally change, in order to make the gameplay interesting again.
Just think about this for a second: Between all the bad decisions regarding the game, and the failed game health updates, we are now stuck in a weird spot, where the meta play is to genrush as survivor, or hard-tunnel as killer, in order to win the match.
The meta is as stale as old MRE crackers, so it needs to change, if the game is to survive for much longer.- First change is to give players different objectives. Something that affects the way that survivors progress their game, and that killers also gets other ways to "sabotage" the survivors progress. This would create a whole different gameplay loop, that I am sure that more players would find interesting.
- Second change would be to perks. The current meta of perks is also incredibly stale, and you see mostly second chance / exhaustion on the survivor side, and slowdown perks on the killer side. This desperately needs to change.
- Third. Procedural tile generation needs to go. There needs to be consistency in maps, so that we avoid situations where sometimes there are little to no pallets and bad tiles in an area (favors killers), or there are too many connecting loops with pallets and windows in favorable locations (favors survivors). This needs to be balanced.
- Fourth. All of these issues have caused players to optimize the way that they play to the fullest. This causes the overly sweaty environment that we have today. - Optimizing every little bit of fun out of the game, in other words.
And all of this this is further excaggerated by the poor matchmaking we currently have.
-
The biggest gripe for me is when players gets mismatched so much, that the match is pretty much pre-determined in the lobby.
It becomes so lopsided, that one side barely gets to interact with anything, before they inevitably lose the match.Where are the nice, and even matches at?
-
@Wezqu said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4058601#Comment_4058601
It can also cost you the match if the survivor just keeps you busy long enough to others to get the gens and they have three chases to do so and its quite possible to extend it to that.
I had a Nemesis lose a game, because he tried to tunnel me out. My team finished the gens, and then bodyblocked the killer for long enough to allow me to get to a safe spot and heal up. I still had a lot of resources left on the map though.
In the end, we got a 4-man out because the killer was too hyperfocused on the person who knew the loops. -
@runningguy said:
Pretty much backs up the sort of experience I have had and what I have been saying for some time. SWF is more common than others like to admit, the escape rates of these teams is far higher (probably due to comms) and soloq isn't actually that bad...
But you don't play on the Hong Kong server now, do you?
In NA/EU, a 4-man SWF is like on average 11% of the players, which means that in 8/9 matches, you are more likely to face solos, two duos, a duo and two solos, or a trio + a solo player, instead of a full 4-man team.
And out of those full 4-man teams, very few are playing in a serious manner. Now on the topic of this thread, I would love to see isolated numbers for NA East and EU Main.
-
I guess for 2v8, they could have opened up the outside areas in the front and the back of the building, giving players alternate routes from the east wing to the west wing. That way, they aren't forced to pass through the middle, especially if one of the killers is hanging around there a lot.

I feel like its a combo of this and power creep from newer killers pushing survivors to be more efficient.
When survivors feel like a lot of there matches are ghoul, they are going to get more efficient on gens.
That leads to the situation where survivors prepare for that and be hyper efficient even when they are not being matched with that.
Exactly. It is like @Ryuhi said: A chicken and egg situation.
It is a culmination of bad decision-making from BHVR's side, and players reacting to that (i.e. becoming more efficient, because they have to). You have probably heard the term "optimizing the fun out of games" before?
The only way to reverse this is to fundamentally change the way the game is played, and a shattering of the current meta. Think, a patch like 6.1.0 -
I believe the gen speed builds were a direct answer to the huge uptick in tunneling we've seen over the past year or so.
I.e. survivors are loading into a match with a "do or die" mindset. -

Because windows its in a folder that is usually hidden and most files in there is read only.
All the more reason to have a way to apply the settings in the game.
I mean, not everyone is tech-savvy enough to find the hidden folders on their PC's - Fortunately, I have been an avid user for well over 20 years. -
@Wezqu said:
Your settings file is most likely set to read only so the game can't save the settings as it can't write it to the file itself. Game saves its files to C:\Users\*computer user profile*\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config just find the right file and take it off read only.
Wonder why the GameUserSettings.ini file is write-protected by default anyways.

Survivor stats aren't accurate unless you never abandon. That's well known. The only reason I even mention mine is because I don't abandon. I dont trust a single person's survivor stats but my own.
Disconnected from what? False narratives? I play SWF, solo, and killer. You said you only SWF as survivor, so I'm playing a lot more of the game than you are. Who's more disconnected?
This exactly. Survivor stats are heavily bloated, since abandons counts as escapes on the stat tracker site.
I use the abandon feature, because I am so tired of finisher moris at this point in time. And talking about bloated escape rates, this example should speak for itself:
I know a lot of SWF use the abandon feature, so if you are one of them @Fixthisgamebad, then your 75% escape rates are nowhere near accurate.
For context, my average used to be 44% before the abandon feature got added.

The only time I've had any issue with slugging in this iteration of 2v8 is when I was first down, the killers threw the match by standing over me and instantly downing me anytime I got picked up or used my ability for the basekit Unbreakable. By the time I bled out the team had the gens done and were working on exit gates. That was such an extreme situation and was done by 2 TTV killers, definitely not the normal slugging you come across.
Most matches the slugging is very short term because you can pick yourself up with your ability as many times as needed as long as it isn't on cool down. The only time I see multiple slugs is when Oni is running around using his power, but if the other killer isn't following behind to pick up the survivors or they didn't go down close together he loses quite a few of them thanks to the basekit antislug. Usually it's a single slug in pallet or with a flashlight teammate nearby so the killer is just trying to chase away the teammate to have a safe pick up.
Exactly this. Bleedout-slugging is not common at all. Meanwhile, the rest of us managed to get the gens done and the doors open. Yet they ended up getting 5 of us, because we tried to help 😅

I think it worked on killers powers like saw from bubba and billy or nemis whip counted too but now its just basic attack so legion with iri button wont get stacks for spirits too.
Pretty much almost dead perk if this goes to live.
It would definitely be a perk for the pure M1 killers, like Trapper, Sadako, Pig etc.
Won't be as effective on Legion anymore, to which I say good riddance, as it was hella annoying to go against. -
Finally, a map made for Pixel Feng to blend in on :D
-
I'd say that if someone starts out hard-tunneling at 5 gens left, they clearly have a choice.
I would understand it more if it were at say, 2 gens left, when the pressure is higher from the survivor side. But the amount of games where I've seen the killer straight up hard-tunneling someone out at 5 gens left is just too many to make me believe that it is "necessary". It's like they are doing it out of spite, because they got rolled in the previous match. -

Not every Killer is nurse, so why do perks have to balanced for Nurse? You really don't see how atrocious your comment is, when Killer side has dozens of Killers that need to be balanced around aside from Killer perks, but here you are claiming that SWF shouldn't be balanced lol
I don't know who spiked your coffee this morning or what, but I never said anything about killers, killer perks, or survivor perks in general.
I just pointed out that there is a massive variance in SWF's that is impossible to truly balance.
Do you think that the average survivor team would be able to deal with Junylar's suggestion of +100% repair time?
I think not. It will be a 100% one-sided experience, where the killer will always win. -

Just nerf SWF and buff soloQ, so that they are on the same level, and balance the killer accordingly. Or separate survivor into two different queues with different rules. Alternatively, scale gen speeds with the SWFness of the lobby: like +25% gen time for a duo, +50% for 2 duos, +75% for a trio, and +100% for a full 4man bully squad. With this fork of SWF > killer > soloQ it's logically impossible to balance the two sides, since whenever they buff survivor - they buff SWF, whenever they buff killer - they nerf soloQ.
Not every 4-man SWF is a "bully squad". Nor are all of them super-cracked "seal teams" either.
