Most successful killer (Normal 1v4 mode): Myers
Most successful killer (2v8): BlightI love playing Myers, and especially with Scratched Mirror. Can't really beat the classic horror icon, when you play him in a movie-accurate way. Stalk from afar, observe, make sure the survivors are aware of your prescense, and then you start hunting them down, always making sure that you pop out from behind a wall, where they cannot see you at first.
Embrace the jumpscares, and collect the praise from the survivors because you gave them a good (and different) experience. -
Did someone mention the rulebook?
I am sure there is a revised 9.4.2nd edition out there. This is just for illustration purposes 😅 -

Most of the time whene playing, there are so many survivors, and even killers who just give up. From the killer side its usually met with a DC, but on the survivor side what they do is give up, or even troll their team for the rest of the game. It happens more when playing a strong killer, but even then it happens with every one. They don't rq, they don't stay till endgame chat to get angry, they just go afk and give up. It ruins the match for everyone involved even if one guy does it. It makes me very sad. What made this happen more often?
:(
It started to become more frequent when MMR got introduced, and it really got worse after 6.1.0
I am not really sure as to why people give up so much.
I could understand abandoning in the end-game to skip the inevitable mori, so that you don't have to sit through one for the 200'd time. But outright DC's.. Either the players must have been on a long losing streak, and this match was the last straw, or it is something else causing it.
But the giving up, or team-trolling.. that one I can not understand either. -
Tell us that you want free wins, without telling us that you want free wins. Got it
-
The way I figured it, only two things would need to be done to fog vials.
- Either rework them to function in a similar way to the Void Crystals (smaller radius, but completely dense), while keeping the aura blocking and hiding of scratchmarks.
- Or just delete them from the game. In their current state, they might as well be considered fillers and bloodweb clutter.
-
Now that I think of it, I should have also added @MoZo to the list. He always has some decent takes.

Since the free weekend ive been getting day 1 survivors on almost every killer i havent touched in a while. And i mean p0 dwight with 2 green perk slots and visibly never looks behind them in their 10 second chases. Started to get to a point where i do 8 hooks and then kill everyone but the new guy and chase them around the map pretending im missing lol till they find the hatch. Meanwhile ive got like 8 p100s and all the achievements and challenges and the mmr thinks because i havent touched singularity in a couple months , im a good pick for dwights first day lol.
Aside from the mmr update ive also been waiting to hear about the prestige rewards, both were marked to start "February and onwards"
I have gotten quite a few of those myself. Brand new players with like 10 hours or less.
That should never occur in reality, when considering my own 2000+ hours of gametime -

I just want to mention that SBMM (Skill Based Matchmaking) and EBMM (Engagement Based Matchmaking) are 2 different things
They both use the same system of using a hidden number to determine your skill and match people, its just how they match people thats different
SBMM tries to put people of equal skill against each other, while EBMM will purposely put you in a streak of lobbies that are either heavily in your favor or heavily against you. An example of a game that uses the latter is Marvel Rivals
Call of Duty has used EOMM (engagement optimized matchmaking) for a long time also.
Until the playerbase got fed up enough by it. -
They used to show player's ping in the lobby back when I started playing.
I think the reason why it got removed was due to excessive lobby-shopping, and higher-ping players would often end up sitting for a long time. Not only that, but the killer player was also the game host, so survivor players would look until they got a favorable one -
Aside from 6.1.0, there hasn't been too many "perk-passes" done.
-
Blight really does not need much in terms of changes.
- Base movespeed reduced to 110%
- Pallet breaks resets tokens to zero
- Slightly faster token recharge to compensate.
-
I'm probably sounding like a broken record by now, but DBD needs a velociraptor on the killer roster.

I've seen a uptick of this behaviour again, and it's really annoying me.
What happens is that people queue up, ready up, and then as soon as the timer hits zero and we're about to go into the offering screen, someone dips and leaves everyone behind in the lobby. This is a massive waste of everyone's time since now we have to wait for a new player to fill the gap and sit through that whole process again.
I think it's time to implement a system that considers doing this as a disconnect and should apply the appropriate penalties. That will surely discourge people from doing this going forward.
Thoughts?I see this a lot, especially on the EU server.
More often than not, it is players with globes next to their names. -

i agree it is a scale and some will show balanced ideas even if they are 75% to one side, however the overall majority wont, thats my point. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but how serious these opinions are taken into account by others can depend on many things such as possible biases. Generally, people take the ideas and opinions of players more seriously if these players can show they are not biased, explain why, explain the impact of both sides. Thats not to say their opinions are invalid in any way but how serious others take these ideas onboard can be effected by possible biases influenced by the main role they play, which is why when someone comes out with an absurd suggestion for a buff or nerf and they fail to acknowledge the impact on the other side then it highlights a bias.
Of course, extreme takes should always be taken with a grain of salt.
But I guess even biased people does have good ideas. They just need a little tweak here and there to better fit into the game, to make it fair for both sides. -

so you still offer nothing constructive? are you a survivor main, killer main or 50 50 player? your failing to explain what this reasoning behind neutrality is. what benefit would it have? You offer no evidence, no explanation other than "i said so"
The range of "mains" is more than just a scale of black and white.
I would say the average player who "mains" one side over the other is sitting at around 65-75% time invested into their main role.As for myself, I play mostly survivor (with a 75/25% bias in time investment). But that is not to say that I can't see the issues on the killer side, despite playing survivor 75% of the time.
Yes, some people are more biased in their opinions, but that is just human nature.
Yet, nothing is as black or white as you describe it. There are players who are primarily playing one side over the other that can have an unbiased view on things in the game. -

I got Ghoul as an option twice.
Needless to say that I didn't hold back my opinion on him -

I'd say that a ranked mode could work, especially if it is based around the old DBD ranking system.

I have mostly had positive killer games lately. Not much BM from the survivor side to speak of.
But then again, I haven't been playing much lately, due to hardware issues in my PC. -
Prop Hunt (Hide & Seek) is an all-time favorite mode.
I am sure that this would someday come to DBD in some way, shape or form. Also, first-person survivor when?

My condolences to you Count, and your family ❤️🥀.
100 years is a really long life though, and I am sure that she will be missed. She seemed like the cool type of grandma that everyone would have loved to have.

At some point you have to see how the killer is playing. While there are ways of speeding up repairs, solo repairing a gen is like watch paint dry. I swear at some points the bar doesn't move for nearly 5 seconds.
Unless you are running a specific build to speed up repairs, it is exactly like you say, "like watching paint dry". 90 seconds is a long time to be holding M1

It's just the killer Version of DS.
Whats wrong with tha?
Chained Hook:
If Survivors unhook a survivor in your Terror radius trigger a skill check if you succeed the survivor is rehooked instantly and gains another hook state up to sacrificed. It's hard to take extreme suggestions like these serious. What are survivors really to you?
Are they (A:) soulless NPC's whose sole purpose is to hang on the hook, from the moment they are found? Or are they (B:) actually other people, who just want to play the game, just like you are?
Chances are that they are option B, 100% of the time, unless they have a big yellow BOT designation after their names.

Will do :) Hopefully we can add more names to the list of icons

They are similar, but the Nurse will always be the.. well.. Nurse, who can ignore the conventional gameplay, by essentially having the ability to noclip.
Vecna II doesn't have that ability, but he is better at map traversal outside of chases.

My favourite Killer is the Xeno. I'm a big Alien fan and I find it fun to put the sentry flame throwers in sneaky, unexpected places. But most of my teammates seem to put them in the worst possible locations, which can be a little frustrating. Unfortunately, I see very few Xenos (probably because the tail attack requires the kind of precision that only PC / mouse and Keyboard gamers can achieve).
I like Killers that put items on the map to interact with that also offer some Survivor counterplay, so I enjoy facing the Onryo too. Singu used to be on this list but they nerfed the EMPs to be useless for anything other than helping slip-steamed Survivors that are being chased. So unless you're in the vicinity of a chase, you don't really get much value from them anymore.
Even Killers like Pig can be fun if they're not the kind to harass you off the Jigsaw boxes (to be fair this is lore accurate behaviour, since all of Amanda's games were rigged to be impossible to win). Chucky is also good for a laugh because his animations are so funny. Mirror Myers was also great, but he's been dead since they removed map offerings and made the mirror add-on an iri.
I'm a sneaky, stealthy Survivor and I mostly play to avoid / lose chase. That's where I get my enjoyment, so really the only difference for me with regards to Killer power is whether I hit the dirt quickly or really quickly. A lot of Killers are complained about because they have powers that are fun to play with but not so fun to play against, but that could honestly describe most of the Killer roster to me.
To be fair, I often play Scratched Mirror, despite all of the changes.
I still enjoy the playstyle of being "the man behind the bush", silently watching, and waiting for the right moment to strike. -

If you've ever repeatedly stomped my skull and stun me 6 different ways when im just trying to give chase, I do not like you. I dont like when 4 survivors curb stomp me. It makes me upset. Don't you think that changing some of the hook-based killer perks to favor hook spreading would reduce tunneling?I do, but that isn't what I asked. I asked if you think its fair compensation when one side is focused on removing the necessity of perks to get their functions while simultaneously reducing freedom of choice for the other. I mentioned kindred because it continues to be the underdog perk of being extremely valuable but never being taken because people assume the value applies more to other players than themselves, they can't find room in their build for it, or whatever other reason. Its the perk that arguably helps solo queue the most, yet its not even considered meta. It kinda tells the story of both changes simultaneously, that the perk slot is worth more than the effect to most people unless its overpowered, and that people want things for free without needing to invest in them (which is supposed to be the entire point of perks.)
Ahh, I see. I completely misread your comment then.
I would personally say that if one side gets base-kit changes, the other side has to get some compensation for it too. I'd definitely suggest something like a mini base-kit (say 10% or so) current version of Pain Res, so that it gets easier to spread pressure by hooking. -
@Ryuhi said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4052667#Comment_4052667
Do you think adjusting perks that rely on unhooks is a fair trade for basekit perks for free? I get the idea of trying to improve unhook perks to incentivize them more vs the meta, but we already have perks for those things on survivor, so they'd be getting them for free. In fact there are quite a few perks that do just that under other circumstances, like lucky break or parental guidance. Babysitter even does just that but you have to be saved by someone running the perk, which would become even more pointless if given for free. Always reminded of Kindred when it comes to things like that.
I'd say give those a try at first, and see if it helps.
At least it is nothing like the punishments proposed in the 9.2.0 PTB.And I am going to refer to this comment that I made in another thread:
@THE_Crazy_Hyena said:
Survivor Counterplay.
Hard-tunnel from the start has been the de-facto playstyle for many lately. I believe a lot of it stems from certain content creators, who has dipped their toes into the competitive scene, who makes others believe that it is the ONLY viable strategy to win games, even in public matches.
Now, tunneling has always been present in the game, but in 2022, when patch 6.1.0 dropped, that is when it got taken to a whole new level, since the survivors lost a lot of the counters they had to tunneling. And with the killer powercreep that has been ongoing for a while now, the problems are only getting worse, since it gets much easier to do. This in turn has prompted the survivors to optimize everything fun out of their gameplay, and stick to gens like flies on horse-dung, which has made the survivor gameplay loop incredibly stale.
Also, on the killer side, before 6.1.0, you had perks like the original BBQ, which gave a BP bonus, that also served as an incentive to spread hooks early on, in order to guarantee the bonus.
One counter I have seen is to have teammates with Shoulder the Burden. I escaped a hard-tunnel thanks to a random teammate with StB. The Nemesis player was so angry afterwards.
Other than that, I would say that the only other counters to tunneling would be the usual suspects, like Decisive Strike, Dead Hard and perks that takes away your scratchmarks, and those that makes you silent.Aura read is a whole other can of worms, and it has only gotten worse and worse with time, with several perks on either side enabling this.
- If you know that the killer has aura perks, you'd use lockers a lot more to block the aura reads.
- If you as a killer knows that the survivors has aura read on you, make sure to never chase them in areas with a lot of LoS blockers.
- Perks like Friends till the End and Alien Instinct is highly problematic, since it often enables tunneling, where the fresh unhooked survivor gets targeted by it.Game Health.
A good incentive would be to revert BBQ, and change some of the hook based perks to give bonuses based on unique hooks.
Take Pain Resonance for example. A good way to change it would be to change the current token based system from starting with 4 tokens of 25% regression each, to zero tokens at the start, with a base 8% regression on the first hook, increasing by 4% for every unique hook afterwards, up to a maximum of 20% that will trigger on every unique hook afterwards. These tokens would stay if you keep rotating hooks. However, if you decide to tunnel someone, you'd instead get a negative token, and if you tunnel someone out before hooking someone else, the perk gets disabled for the remainder of the trial.
This is a more healthy way of making the 1v4 potentially stronger, and the 1v3 potentially weaker.
This approach could also work with perks like Grim Embrace, by keeping the current effects for unique hooks, and also add on the 10 second block for every unique hook afterwards, but with the caveat that the perk disables if a survivor dies by normal means (suicides does not count).Another perk that I have had an idea for a change to would be Hex: Ruin.
Instead of starting as a lit totem, it would instead activate once the first survivor gets hooked, and gets progressively stronger through tokens, gained from unique hooks.
First hook: A random dull totem gets lit, placing the Hex onto it. The curse causes generators not being worked on to regress automatically at 60/80/100% normal regression speed.
Second hook: Regression is increased to 75/100/125% speed.
Third hook: Regression is increased to 90/120/150% speed.
Fourth hook: Regression is increased to 105/140/175% speed, and the repair skillchecks becomes Cursed (red).
Cursed skillchecks require you to hit a Great skillcheck (with a 50% increased window) in order to continue repairing. Hitting a good skillcheck will cause the progress to halt for 2 seconds.
This totem then deactivates when the first survivor dies by normal means.Changing these perks would definitely help incentivicing a more hook-oriented playstyle.
Another way to combat tunneling would be to disable the unhook notification sound. That way, a killer who is actively chasing someone, won't necessarily drop chase to go back to the freshly unhooked survivor, unless they keep staring at the HUD all the time.
Feedback.
I would say that these forums are probably the best place to leave constructive feedback for the game devs.
Don't you think that changing some of the hook-based killer perks to favor hook spreading would reduce tunneling?
I also suggested changing toolboxes, so that the effectiveness of perks like Hyperfocus and Stake Out gets reduced. -

Still waiting to see if terminator is in the works lol. Id imagine itd be the t1000 tho due to the original probably needing a weapon of some kind which they just used laser guns.
The original T-800 could also work, but since the Terminators primarily used conventional firearms in the movies, I am not sure if those would work for DBD. - However, the M79 grenade launcher could in theory work, since it is a non-spammable slow-firing weapon.
T-1000 (Terminator 2) could morph his body into various objects, and same goes for the T-X (Terminator 3) model, so those two would definitely be eligible. -
I'm probably going to be forever stranded on this rock, shouting that unhook notifications needs to be disabled. It will help a little bit against tunneling.
I would also say that the fresh unhook needs to lose their scratchmarks and pools of blood for the duration of the anti-tunnel measurements. As for the killer, to de-incentivice tunneling, some of the hook oriented perks needs adjustments, to make hooking more lucrative.

I started this game when it was well-established and already pretty unapproachable for new players. I stuck around because I only played killer. It took awhile to switch to survivor, and I viewed it as the role that was meant to lose, which made it easier to do so. Just not dying first was an accomplishment then. As time went on, I got better, I made friends, and I no longer have that view. But a gentle progression was needed to keep me playing.
Fast forward to now, where I occasionally play a round or two with my partner. If they jump on alone and I observe, I see the typical and baffling new player antics: everyone ducking and creeping about—even when there is zero danger—and killers who are legally blind. This is fine for the baby leagues. It's even. I can give a couple lazy instructions here and there and it'll be an escape. Then we play a couple rounds together, and I carry them to a higher lobby with matches more like my own, and even with me on constant babysitter duty, I cannot keep them alive. We are both dead every match, me usually first because I tried to defend them, and them after because they're helpless alone against a decent killer.
The worst way to be introduced to this game is by SWFing with established players. You'll be in over your head immediately. People need to go against or play with people at the same level of cluelessness as them or the game is a wash. People should probably start in solo to learn survivor so the matchmaking doesn't ruin the experience.
Another good way of teaching newer players would be to play with them in custom games. That way, you can go easier on them, and teach them how to do this and that, without the pressure of a normal public game.

I have as well. Aura is taking over the game. Sometimes I wish I had a Time Machine when there were little to no aura and you actually had to play the game not let the game show you where survivors are. Follow scratch marks, use your ears to hear footsteps or whining. Some aura is fine! But having 4 aura perks and an add on that show aura is kinda of ridiculous. I’d rather face a gen regression build killer than have my aura freely shown to the killer. I miss chases, those are impossible now with the anti looping killers they keep coming out with. Oh and pallets? What are those? Nerfed those too. Some rooms don’t even have a single pallet! We were told we were getting QOL changes but then it was just scrapped and haven’t heard anything else about it. Other than more nerfs that were coming to survivors. I don’t play comp and don’t tend to. Guess it’ll be another break for me. Not all of us play like comps. I guess they just don’t get it and probably never will
I miss old DBD for many of those reasons, back when you had maybe 2-3 aura perks on either side, and the most commmon ones were BBQ for killer, and Object of Obsession for survivor. No Lethal Pursuer either, so the killer had to guess where survivors spawned.
And old Ruin, with the red skillchecks. The perfect slowdown perkSimpler times, when the game had more chill.
-
Sometimes, I do wish that the map size was scalable with the killer's ability to traverse the map.
Say for example that you faced a Trapper on a smaller map variant, and if you had a Blight or Ghoul, you'd have a larger map variant. -

Cheaters have more fun and rights than people that paid for this game and devs favor them so sad truth is nothing is being done right now about this issue just we are getting new things.
I have started to see more swf that play with cheater to get more "fun" which is actualy bully killer and getting free escape which I find sick behavior, even some ttv playing with cheater (you cant prove that easily but its was obvious from gameplay) for content even I have noticed more cheaters having content chanels on YT and I bet on other platforms like tiktok they they are spreading there too which is kinda sad.
It looks that the future of DBD will be in monthly paying for cheats to be able to paly it and have fun which is sick but it looks like it.
I have seen Youtube shorts where people were literally advertising cheats for DBD. Needless to say that those were reported, and heavily disliked.

Shaming cheaters in DBD is a crime against hummanity by itself it seems.
Personally, I don't care if people shame on cheaters, but on here we'd better stick to the rules.
Also, the anti-cheat system needs to be improved considerably, so that cheating isn't easily accessible, like it is today. -

Funnily enough, what I noticed is that my escape rates/games where multiple Survivors escaped have increased significantly following the release of the newest Stranger Things Chapter because of We See You and Object of Obsession. In fact, I found in my experience that Perks and Add-Ons revealing the Killer's Aura have been a very strong answer to the things you talked about. The only issue with them is... Stealth Killers, and it's no wonder how most of my losses have been from Stealth Killers.
If you are struggling with facing off against Killer, I do recommend adopting an Aura-reading build so that you can figure out who the Killer is definitively and how they move and approach so you can strategize around their play patterns. Being able to read the Killer's Aura does make a huge difference between surviving and dying since it allows for you to play more proactively than being forced to react to how the Killer plays when it drops on you. I do acknowledge that it sounds like a band-aid fix, but if it works for Killer then it should work for Survivor too. Information is still the strongest tool in Dead by Daylight in either role.
I have done a few "all-seeing Survivor" kinds of builds in the past, with Eyes of Belmont, Alert, Fogwise and Scene Partner, which often times gives you a near permanent aura read on the killer.
It definitely makes mind-games practically impossible for the killer to win, unless they also run aura builds.
