  • I believe so, yes.

  • Think about it, it doesn't mention stealth killers.

That's because it doesn't have to. The rules of Undetectable mean that you cannot read the Killer's aura.

That mostly becomes relevant if the Spirit is phasing from farther away, and she should rarely be phasing from farther away in situations she would still be stealthy today. At launch there was already no phasing sound 8m from the husk, which is wide enough to cover most loops. She shouldn't be using her power from much farther away than that after a chase has already started, unless a survivor tries to run though a dead zone or something and it's a free hit for her regardless if she phases. Prior to a chase starting, this offers basically no advantage versus the current Spirit; now, if she starts phasing towards you from within 24m, you'll get a quick hit of the TR followed by nothing. Especially when combined with other clues about killer location or heading, you can usually infer that this means she is phasing towards you. The one time you probably would not infer this is when Spirit switches targets while chasing another survivor within the TR, and in this situation the 8-24m phasing sound would be very useful for survivors. This situation is the majority of the benefit against a competent Spirit, though.

Switching targets is a good tactic with today's Spirit, but it's certainly not the main thing that makes her good. She's mostly strong because of her combination of speed and control. 176% speed for up to 5 seconds base with full movement control and a mega lunge is just difficult for a survivor to counter and she's had all of that since the PTB. No other killer with this kind of movement has such few downsides. Blight has to bounce, has limited turning, and has a bounce cap. Billy has even more limited turning, an overheat mechanic, and a very loud saw. Wraith has decent stealth and no time limit on his power, but he's a lot slower at base, he still needs to slow down and ring a bell before getting his speed boost and the potential for a long lunge, and he can be burned out of his power. Spirit's only real downside is the time limit, assuming her headphones are good. Survivors not being visible was clearly intended to be the main downside, but in practice she should always know where non-IW injured survivors are and healthy or IW ones are still reasonably easy to track, especially with Stridor.

Edit: Her mind game potential also makes her easier to play and a lot more flexible, but that's also not necessary to play her well imo.

She is strong because she can switch targets on the fly, because she can get the jump on you to start with without even being sure that she's headed in your direction, and because she can mindgame you at point blank. All of these things were changed from her initial PTB (both with the 8 m change and the outside of TR change to her phasing sound, as well as the loss of directional phasing).

I still do not agree with you at all.

I didn't retype that or the breathing piece because thought they were less impactful than the directional phasing sound. At launch she still had no phasing sound within 8m, which is enough distance for her to still pull off most off her typical phasing/not phasing mind games at loops. I stand by my original point that she was underrated in the PTB and strong on launch, and my subsequent point that the buffs she received are not the difference between a weak killer and a top tier one. She was borderline OP after the buffs but only because she was already pretty good before.

That is easily the most impactful change in that post. It means that Survivors in the Spirit's TR will not be aware that she is phasing at all if they don't have LOS.

So no, I don't agree with you. At all.

Sure, but she also wasn't weak on launch, and she wasn't much stronger on launch than she was in the PTB. Non-directional sound is of course helpful for her, but that's not the difference between a weak killer and a top tier one.

Survivors within the Spirit Husk's terror radius will not hear the phasing sound.

She wasn't buffed very much at launch. Read my comment on page 1 with the the screenshot of the patch notes.

She was buffed during her respective mid-chapter update:

The Spirit's phasing audio has been adjusted: Survivors within the Spirit Husk's terror radius will not hear the phasing sound. Survivors outside the Spirit Husk's terror radius can hear the Spirit's phasing sound, but will not be able to determine its direction. Survivors will no longer be able to hear the Spirit's breathing while she is phasing.

Clearly they weren't completely ignoring the community as there are still many good changes they listed.

The other thing is this still isn't a complete patch list, just a teaser. While what they have showed us is not enough to make Trickster good, we'll still have to wait til the actual patch notes to be certain there's no other changes that would help him.

To be fair, they did mention that they were going over some of the most notable changes on Twitter. So it's safe-ish to assume that if there are any other changes being made to Trickster, they aren't going to be as impactful as the ones listed.

I haven't played him myself, but I also don't trust opinions that come out of the PTB. PTB testers said Spirit was terrible too, remember. I'd prefer to give him a bit of time to play out and let both sides learn him better before coming to conclusions about balance.

How many people are going to mention the opinions toward PTB Spirit while also omitting that Spirit was buffed after that?

mate obviously no matter what you won't agree and honestly the reasons you don't agree feel like you think the players all play in a perfect way and always know what to do.

As stated in a 4 solo que which is what the game is balanced around survivors can't give information such as addons or tell other players to do something. As stated is isn't a bad choice to finish gens whenever the combo isn't used you yourself even said it's rare to get RBT kills even with the combo which i find hard to believe as i always got around 1 or 2 kills.

Then finally we get to this. No matter what, you shouldn't die from an action that has nothing to do with you and is meant to progress the game.

this isn't something even worth arguing over finishing a gen at any point in the game shouldn't mean potential death for a survivor, NOED is understandable as that should be expected and it's a perk that honestly is more common then the combo. But the addon combo isn't as well known and even if it is people will still do dumb things. you. should. not. die. from. that. type. of stupidity.

that is the only argument you have as to why this combo shouldn't be nerfed literally the only argument. with numbers i proved it is very likely that at least once a survivor will be close to death with the timer on the 4th or 5th box and with logic i have proven that a single encounter with the killer will kill those survivors. the only thing you have to counter that is "well survivor shouldn't finish gens" which is bs because as said the game is balanced around solo's and you have no control over those players actions and it's bs that your getting potentially killed because of another players choice.

Im done arguing over this not to mention even your one point has a flaw that cannot be overlooked when it comes to talking about balance. players are not prefect and are not knowledgeable on ever game mechanic not to mention they could just not care and that can kill you. Regardless all the things i have pointed out as to why this addon combo needs to be addressed outdoes your single point which is outside the players control.

    1) I am not saying players need to play perfect. I am saying that players are responsible for not screwing the team over. Not expecting Tampered Timer is not an excuse under any circumstances because you are responsible for playing around certain things.

    2) Hey, if you can die because someone opened the gate too early, you can die because someone popped the gen too early.

I disagree that your points outdo mine.

  • Emblems are a bad way to enforce healthy gameplay IMO. Mainly in that they do nothing to enforce healthy gameplay. They are the equivalent of someone shaking their head at you disapprovingly while allowing you to continue doing the thing they don't like anyways.

If there are gameplay patterns that are unwelcome in the game, you deal with those patterns at the source, not by deducting points from Gryffindor.

Rule Set No. 2 isn’t bad. Amanda’s Letter I agree with is very bad and I would only run it on an indoor map.

Rules Set No. 2 at best does very little and at worst gets Survivors to stop respecting RBTs, which is bad for Pig.

exactly therefor finishing gens isn't the wrong choice and addon shouldn't be balanced around such a thing.

All im trying to convey is that tampered timer with an extra box isn't fair since you have no control over anything it's purely luck if you die.

In the first place you shouldn't die because other solo's are just doing the objective and not doing anything wrong.

exactly therefor finishing gens isn't the wrong choice

I don't agree with this logic. If the fear is someone dying to a potential Tampered Timer, then not waiting a bit first to pop the gen IS the wrong choice. The only way this truly backfires is if Ruin is in play, and Ruin is something you should very easily be able to detect almost as soon as the trial starts.

In the first place you shouldn't die because other solo's are just doing the objective and not doing anything wrong.

But they are doing something wrong if they are putting you in that position that you don't want to be in. It's like saying you shouldn't 99 an Exit Gate and then blaming Blood Warden for trapping you long enough to die to the EGC.

Point was this is a tactic that is unreasonable to expect all players to follow

for that reason no and with ruin the point is survivors will finish their gens.

I refer to my previous statement about it sounding more like a problem with Survivors making bad decisions.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015744#Comment_2015744

This is the same thing as plague it's a choice it's not something obvious and more often than not you should finish the gen

what if the killer has ruin? then what?

this isn't one of the things were survivors need to "get good" or "learn not to do that" especially when you don't need to do so if the pig isn't using this combination and solo's can't just say "DONT DO THE GEN SHE HAS X ADDONS".

It's pretty obvious that finishing the gen starts the timer. Sure, you may not know what add-ons the Pig may have, but if you want to play around the purple add-ons, simply wait a bit to finish the gen to give that Survivor the chance to search a little. If the Killer has Ruin? FIND RUIN. Especially since you should know very very easily if the Killer has Ruin.

since the devs balance around 4 solo's and solo's rarely care to 99% gens because of a trap and they can't communicate the addons to each other, as well as the fact that it's outside their hands by a pure balance standpoint no it is a problem.

No addon should just be like "hey! your the unlucky one time to die! Oh the pig found you and wont let you use the box just once yeah you're totally screwed".

That sounds like a problem with the Survivors making bad decisions to me.

  • I am indifferent to this. At least here, it is entirely the Killer's choice to bring a charm that gives them away.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015709#Comment_2015709

The addon combination is a problem as it is outside the survivors hands that is my point it is unfair there is no skill just luck.

the ONLY other addon that kills survivors is myers tombstone and at least that has counter play with lockers and he has to actually get right up to you.

This addon combination makes it so more than likely at least once in a match a survivor has to remove it on the final two boxes and as said/proved with logic if the pig interferes that survivor will more than likely not have enough time to survive.

This is why it is unfair/unreasonable and at the very least tampered timer needs to be changed. I won't suggestions as to what it should be but this combination is basically equal to huntresses IR hatchets with purple belt and it is agreed that that needs to be changed. I do agree that all addons need to do something but that alone doesn't justify this unfair combination.

Lastly it doesn't heavily favor survivors it slightly favors them as they have a 60% chance of it being the first 3 boxes that is defiantly not heavily favored.

I disagree on it being a problem. Again, the Trapped Survivor can very easily have extra time to search the boxes if the timer doesn't start immediately. If it does start quickly, then that is entirely due to the actions of the Survivor team. Not bad luck or poor balancing or whatnot. It is someone on the Survivor team making a conscious decision to start the timer.

  • who would actually make call outs against a killer when it's more hilarious to watch your friends struggle?

I should have been more clear that it was at least once among ALL RBT's not the chance of a single RBT being taken off on the 4th or 5th box and even then the number is still high at 40%.

    1) Now that I understand what you are actually saying, 87% chance of at least one Trap being taken off in 4-5 boxes is MORE than reasonable for one of the add-ons that adds a box. The add-on has to do SOMETHING.

    2) It's still in the Survivors favor for them to not have to search 4+ boxes, even if it is not HEAVILY in their favor.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015685#Comment_2015685

and i admitted i was wrong HOWEVER the chance is actually only 3% lower so my point still stands.

I'm not referring to the percentage. I'm referring to the fact that you were referring to the odds of a Survivor taking a trap off in 4-5 boxes. Not the odds of at least one Trap needing 4 or 5 boxes to be removed.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015642#Comment_2015642

What i did was calculate the chance of it happening at least once among 4 attempts with a 40% of it being the 4th or 5th box.

what you are doing is simply calculating the chance of it coming off at any point not the amount of attempts for a different set (the chance of another RBT having the box be the 4th or 5th). In case you didn't realize all of your results are 20% which is wrong when calculating how likely it is you get the event accruing at a certain attempt among other attempts.

    So for the RBT coming off on the 4th or 5th box among 4 different RBT's at least once the math is this (1- 0.4)^4 = 0.1296 (12.96%) (not happening) so 1 - 12.96 = 0.8704 (87.04%).

    For it coming off on the 5th box among 4 RBT's at least once the math is (1- 0.2)^4 = 0.4096 (40.96%) (not happening) so 1- 0.4096 = 0.5996 (59.96%)

I'm right mate all your doing is calculating when it comes off in X attempts, I'm calculating it coming of at a certain point at least once among X tries.

Yes, I calculated the odds a Survivor will have to remove a trap on the 4th or 5th box because you said, and I quote:

there is a 90.91% chance that a survivor will have to remove the trap on the 4th OR 5th box

Isn't this a deadlier version of that thing with the doors and the goat?

It uses related logic, but the Monty Hall problem isn't the same.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015615#Comment_2015615

Ok i looked into it more

In order to calc it first you find the chance of it not happening

so (1-.4)^4 then the answer is the chance it wont happen is 0.1296 in other words 12.96%

therefor the chance of it happening at least once is 87.04%

so no i was right my second response.

    Let's assume five boxes.

The odds of you finding the correct box on your first attempt is 1/5 (20%), because you have five boxes and only one correct one.

This means you have 4/5 chance (80%) of picking the wrong box on your first guess. Once you pick a wrong box, that box can no longer be selected, so the number of remaining boxes to guess from goes down to four.

The odds of guessing correctly from four boxes is 1/4 (25%). When you multiply the 4/5 incorrect first guess by 1/4 correct second guess, this means that you have a 4/20 or 1/5 (again, 20%) chance of finding the correct box from the initial five boxes in exactly two guesses.

    For three boxes, it's 4/5 guessing wrong the first time, 3/4 guessing wrong the second time, and 1/3 guessing right the third time. 4/5 * 3/4 * 1/3 = 12/60 = 1/5 (20%).

    For four boxes, it's 4/5 * 3/4 * 2/3 * 1/2 = 24/120 = 1/5 (20%).

    For five boxes, it's 4/5 * 3/4 * 2/3 * 1/2 * 1/1 = 24/120 = 1/5 (20%).

  • No. That's also wrong. By a lot. Explain how you are coming to this answer.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015597#Comment_2015597

cool be unreasonable to protect the combo IDC

I have numbers that say there is a 90% chance a survivor will have a box get the RBT off on the 4th or 5th box as well as numbers to indicate that a single encounter with the pig will kill them if the 4th or 5th box is true.

Therefor it isn't reasonable and as for it being their fault they don't know your tampered timer addon so yeah don't blame them for healing.

i have reason, logic, and numbers to indicate that this combo is not fair so you can disagree all you want i have more backing.

The 90% chance thing makes absolutely no sense. I don't know what your math is, but it is not even remotely accurate.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

Also i went ahead and looked into it, there is a 90.91% chance that a survivor will have to remove the trap on the 4th OR 5th box, just one interception by the pug will more than likely kill them.

    https://thepercentagecalculator.net/Odds/what-does-40-to-4-odds-mean.html

What? That's...no. That's not right. Where is this math coming from?

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015584#Comment_2015584

they don't have control of the killer and they most likely didn't pick the map and if they did it's probably big.

Also plenty of survivors will at least heal which takes 8-16 seconds so they do that and the box is the last no they are dead.

you can disagree but i have logic and numbers that say otherwise, therefor unless you can provide better reasoning you are wrong.

they don't have control of the killer

    Okay. That isn't an issue.

they most likely didn't pick the map and if they did it's probably big.

Big maps are a problem with the maps, not with the Pig add-ons being discussed.

Also plenty of survivors will at least heal which takes 8-16 second

    Exactly whose fault is that?

you can disagree but i have logic and numbers that say otherwise, therefor unless you can provide better reasoning you are wrong.

The numbers say that each individual trap has over 50% chance of the fifth box not even mattering. That's a point in my favor, as far as I can tell. And again, you have extra time depending on how long the Survivors give you to finish their gen and start the timer. If the timer starts before you have a chance to look, that's ENTIRELY your team's decision. The Pig cannot do ANYTHING to force the timer to start.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015565#Comment_2015565

It's only reasonable if the pig NEVER messes with the survivor, the survivor is very optimal with their time, AND the map isn't big such as haddonfield.

Because most survivors are not optimal and most killers are not kind and will at least attempt to slug that survivor it is NOT reasonable.

There is also the fact that a gen can pop at any time which can include when that survivor is incapacitated which is very common.

Therefor and i don't want to come off as an *** but your wrong it's not reasonable.

Sorry, but I don't agree with that.

A survivor not being optimal is on the Survivor, and a gen popping is on the Survivor's teammate. That's two things that are within the Survivor team's control that can heavily mitigate the Tampered Timer (an add-on that does nothing the majority of the time it is used).

I will certainly agree that map can pose a problem, but those maps that do pose a problem for this are problematic enough that they should be changed anyways.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015539#Comment_2015539

As said then we differ but i have numbers that indicate it's very likely for survivors to die to this and when abusing this i often killed survivors with it even when i didn't do anything to them or by just hooking them once if i ran into them.

Numbers don't lie and you cannot say that it is not unreasonable to only have 60 seconds of travel time for up to 5 interactions with 4 chances that a survivor will have an interaction remove the RBT on the 4th or 5th attempt.

Also do you not agree that it is reasonable to be chased at least once while you have a RBT on and still have enough time to remove it? How much time do you think is taken away by one chase? because getting downed or hooked can easily take away 20-30 or so seconds which is half of the time that survivor has to traverse the map unless you think they can get to each box in 6 seconds assuming it's the last 2 that remove the RBT?

I'd say the percentages support the notion that Survivors are still favored in terms of # of box searches, and then there's the fact that a Survivor doesn't have to worry about the clock until a gen pops.

Also, I'd say it's reasonable because of the ground the Pig is giving up by employing such a tactic.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015510#Comment_2015510

Then we different experiences because i nearly always have a survivor die to this and again as said it's likely they die even if it's the 4th box meaning a 40% chance.

We haven't even discussed large maps using this, put on Haddonfield and that survivor is pretty much dead even if you don't intercept them if it's their 4th or 5th box. incepted them and that might as well be reduced to the 3rd box.

Regardless this is still unreasonable as you can't expect survivors to get to each box in 12 seconds and not get intercepted by the pig, by your own stats it is indicated that there is a 40% chance they have to get it off on the 4th or 5th box.

i do agree that maps play a big part in this but even small maps this is highly lethal.

Then we different experiences because i nearly always have a survivor die to this and again as said it's likely they die even if it's the 4th box meaning a 40% chance.

That does not line up with my experiences, personally. I'm not saying I NEVER get RBTs, but they most certainly do not line up at a rate of one every game or even one every other game. And that's with using her purple add-ons for many, many games in a row.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015492#Comment_2015492

it's not 20% tho since the box that takes off your trap is predetermined and even on small maps this often kills survivors, i know this cause i used this like 10 times in a row and often got at least 1-2 kills a game.

regardless in terms of stats you could say that it has a 40% chance to be the 4th or 5th box, as said you have 4 RBT's that is a good enough chance to commonly see a survivor die to a RBT a game especially if you interact them even just once.

Also again, this is still very likely to kill even on small maps because you only have an average of 12 seconds to get to each box and you are more than likely not being optimal with that time.

You misunderstand what I mean. I know how the boxes work; I'm saying that natural odds of chance dictate that you only have a 20% chance of having to search all five boxes. You have a 40% chance of having to search four or more. Also, I use these kind of add-ons all the time. I know what they're capable of. They don't kill that often even in the best-case scenario.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2015459#Comment_2015459

No tampered timer with an extra box makes taking them off unreasonable

5 boxes with 2 minutes to do them all and it takes 12 seconds to attempt to remove a trap.

this means that you have a total of 60 seconds of travel time, an average 12 seconds to get to each box if you have to remove the trap on the last box.

If the pig intercepts that just once and the box that would have gotten your trap off would be the 4th or 5th you are more than likely going to die, hell even if their is just really bad pathing/ a large map your more than likely died.

There are 4 RBT's that might end up killing a survivor, it is very likely that at least one of these will do a survivor in.

You only have a 20% chance of having to search all five, though. The odds are still in your favor that you don't even have to search four boxes. And this is before you factor in the extra time you may get from getting to search boxes before the timer starts.

Again, this is only really going to be an issue on maps that are large enough that they need to be changed anyways.

I don't like this, It nerfs pigs stalling as well as her lethality when honestly it isn't a bad thing that it's that high.

her traps are too RNG and unable to down survivors as they do this means they don't fear the pig at all.

People need to understand that the only thing pig needs a nerf to is her addons that make it impossible to get the RBT off within reason.

This might sound counterintuitive, but the only add-on that I think can make it consistently unreasonable to remove an RBT is Amanda's Letter. Because it decreases the number of boxes down to two and gives the Pig a 50/50 chance at being able to body block the correct and guarantee a kill.

Any other add-ons that might create that problem only do so in the largest maps that are already a problem for a different reason anyways.

1 in 4, or 25%, isn't an extreme scenario by any stretch. I've never been able to reach the fourth box in time. Not without sprinting between them, which usually means getting caught.

I have on rare occasion actually been saved by being caught though. I was once on my way to my third box, as I got there the pig caught me, downed me and hooked me. That paused the timer, so that when I was eventually rescued off the hook, I ran to the other free box, the fourth one, and I made it in time to remove. Had the pig just left me to try that third box and fail, it would have been certain death, by carrying me to the hook, she reduced my travel time to the fourth box just enough that I just barely managed to get there in time.

I think they need to increase the timer on the traps by about 15 seconds. Or, every failed attempts gives you an extra 5 seconds, or something like that. That's not a huge difference, and it still takes you out of the game, not doing gens, rescues, etc. for the duration of the timer.

1 in 4, or 25%, isn't an extreme scenario by any stretch. I've never been able to reach the fourth box in time. Not without sprinting between them, which usually means getting caught.

Are you sure that this is not just an issue you're having personally? 25% is not even close to the rate of RBT kills in my personal experience. That would basically mean that i get on average one RBT death every game, which most certainly does not happen.

From my experience, the maps where death by RBT are more likely are maps that are already problematic because they too beeg. So the solution isn't to make the RBTs more generous; it's just to shrink those maps.

  • Too bad Remember Me was nerfed into the ground. Remember Me + this coulda been cute.

  • I don't really buy cosmetics, but I think I actually would buy that if it were a thing.

  • Everything below is simply my personal opinions.

Crouch speed increase - I think this is fine?

Ambush inflicting Deep Wounds - Deep Wounds is ridiculously powerful on Pig because you can make the life of someone with an active RBT a living nightmare. I would not be okay with this as an add-on, let alone base kit.

Increase keys needed to escape to 2 - I don't like the idea of increasing the odds of being able to stand in front of the right box to force a death from 25% to 50%. At best, I would support making the first searched box an automatic fail.

Increase RBT timer from 2.5 minutes to 3 minutes - I think this has the issue of making good Survivors respect the Traps less, which is bad for the Pig. I don't like the previous two ideas with or without this idea, and without those two ideas, I don't like this idea either.

Aura reading on RBT Survivors when Exit Gates are powered - I see what you're going for, but there are two things to consider with this. If the Trap isn't active (because you put it on after the last gen is finished), this doesn't really accomplish much because they'll probably just leave anyways. If the Trap IS active, if you're going after them anyways to guarantee a kill, you don't really need this to secure that kill. If you're not going after them, I don't think the aura reading does much at that point in the game.

Worshop Grease/Razor Wires/Interlocking Razors - Interesting idea. Idk if it's worth an add-on, but it is interesting.

Utility Blades/Sedative Cotton/Rusty Attachments - I still wouldn't use any of these. Rusty Attachments is the best of the bunch, but I think I'd rather just use Sloppy Butcher.

Slow-Release Toxin - This seems like overkill. If you can land that Ambush hit, they are not winning the chase.

Rules Set No. 2 - I have no idea what to think of this. Unlimited RBTs and instant Timer start is a sizeable upside, and idk if the downside is too much or not enough.

Otz was playing Twins on his stream yesterday and literally did this.

He was chasing a Nea and I think a Felix, the Nea ran into a corner on a T wall and he immediately trapped her as Charlotte, switched to Victor and took the other player down.

Obviously he intended to immediately down the other survivor as Victor, so the Nea would have been trapped as long as that chase took him.

But where do you draw the line, what if you trap a survivor at the start of the game and keep using Victor to harangue the other survivors?

That last sentence is a good example of crossing the line. You'd draw the line at simply keeping them there instead of downing the person.

Yes I should because that motivates the devs to fix them faster and as Kirkylad said, apologize for letting a bug pass trough and ruin people's games.

They should do both. Fix the bug and punish the exploiter. It doesn't have to be one or the other.
