Feel free to think what you want. My life doesn't revolve around video games though so I'll play when I want and I'll stop playing when I want. Like I said I'm not sitting here advocating to quit the game every time something bad happens but I feel like I'm done for the night and I'm in the middle of the game it is what it is. If it's such a big problem add a ranked mode for people who wanna play super seriously and a casual mode for people who don't really care what happens. If you're gonna sit here and tell me that if I join a game I'm obligated to dedicate my time to that entire game even if I don't want to feel free to pay me for my time.
Sure, you can stop playing when you want. Just don't get mad if you get punished for it.

Yes I agree that leaving excessively should be punished. My problem is the comment the mod made stating that you can only use the leave function in the game for certain pre approved reasons other why it's ragequit!!! and you don't have a good enough reason to do that essentially. For example, say I'm having a good time playing and I'm like alright I'm gonna get one more game in before I go to bed cause I got work in the morning. I get into the game and for whatever reason maybe halfway into the game maybe a little less there's something going on that's made me decide meh this just isn't a fun game or this game is a definite loss and I don't wanna waste my time so I leave. Nobody can tell me that I can't do that and it's ragequit!!! I just feel that's a nonsense extremely unprofessional response from a mod of all people.
No, that behavior actually the exact thing that SHOULD be discouraged. You DC because something came up IRL that demands your immediate attention. Not because you are bored.

I would be for it, but I have arthritis in my hands.
That means every now and then, my thumb seizes and I can't tap x like a madman to stay alive, and I die.
I would really rather not be penalized for that, but how would I prove it wasn't a conscious choice, outside of constantly recording my hands while I play?
This is why they should change the struggle phase independent of the whole suicide thing. It's just tedious as all hell.

Yes that is usually what people do... I don't see your point because there's a difference between not wanting to play another match and someone who feels like quitting mid match for whatever reason. They wanted to play another match so they went to one. During that match something made them not want to play anymore. So again as frowned upon as it may be people do have a right to do that.
No, I disagree. I think if you do that mid-match excessively, you deserve some sort of repercussion.

So let me get this straight you can't even stop playing your game whenever you want because that's apparently not allowed? There is literally zero incentive or reward for winning a match. You can't tell somebody that they can't stop playing their game if they want to unless it's for some arbitrary pre-approved reasons no matter how frowned upon it may be.
If you don't want to play another match, don't queue up another match and quit.

I chase. I down. I head-trap. I chase again while carrying someone. Keep the cycle going and rake in the occasional RBT death. Satisfying gig I got going for me, personally.

As long as you understand what I mean by "Rare Ragequit".
This means you play a vast majority of your games and are not one of those people who quit every time they are first down, or anytime they face a specific character or mechanic.
I have a personal rule that if I ever ragequit, I'm not allowed to play the game ever again for the rest of the night or week. If I ever get pushed to the point that I become a poor sport, then I shouldn't be playing the game at all as I no longer have the right attitude to play the game.
Only pick up the game and play if you have the mental fortitude to put up with the occasional unsatisfactory game. Be aware of yourself BEFORE you go into the game.
And if you are always having an unsatisfactory game, be honest with yourself and ask yourself why can't you find fun with the game despite it's challenges.

Well i won games when we lose numbers. Once we had 4 gens and 2 survs. And we still won. Because we both knew looping. And when killer was one of us, other did gen. And we won. That is just one case, you can always win that game. Sometimes focus on hatch, sometimes finish gen bla bla bla.
You are just saying excuses. On other PvP games i can dc when i dont like match and without penalty time. But that game have sadly penalty time for that.
And you are not my dad or boss, so you cant force me staying with you in game? So case close, see you later.
You didn't win. You only had two escapes. Also, that doesn't actually mean that it's even remotely fair. You shouldn't have to pray that the Killer is Potatus Maximus. You should be assured that ragequitters are properly dealt with.
On other PvP games i can dc when i dont like match and without penalty time.
Uh, on other PvP games, you can absolutely get punished for disconnecting.

You know 3 survs also can win that game. And 4 survs can lose. So what?
And you cant force me stay in game if i have not fun. That is not ban reason. Killer has points, surv has points. And i am losing rank because suicide. So really what?
Three Survivors realistically have no chance of winning if you disconnect early on in the game. There's a reason why the devs simply opted to forcibly cancel a match if someone DC'd before it started instead of simply giving the Survivors a free gen already completed like in the past.
Also, your teammates are far more likely to lose rank because of your decision as well. If you punish yourself because of your selfishness, that's one thing. If you consistently punish your teammates because of your selfishness, that deserves reprimanding IMO.

I don't believe they said that they didn't go through with it due to balance concerns. I think they were simply just planning to include it in a later update instead.

If i see Spirit i am suiciding.
If i get potato teammates i am suiciding.
If i get camper killer i am suiciding.
And no i dont think so that is bannable reason. Time is important and we all are playing that game for fun. So why i should waste my time with people like you?
Because you are making the conscious decision to ruin the game for your teammates using a highly subjective metric that they may not even agree with but have zero control over.
-
I can't imagine why devs don't just update the AFK crow system to stop situations like this from happening.

Yes, and punish hookfarming in front of the killer the same way as working with the killer. Bodyblocking another survivor in a chase as well.
Hmm, if i think of it, if a survivor not in a chase is not doing an objective, could that be considered working with the killer, too?
I'm not talking about working with the killer. I'm talking about ragequitting.
-
I'm going to dissent and say that getting to rank 1 is not as hard as one might think because the queues are filled with potatoes (something that is not helped by matchmaking). If I can get to rank 1 using nothing but my meme taxi build, it's pretty telling as to the competition you're likely to face on average along the way.

Only if Charlotte was close enough to spot which direction I’ve slinked away to. I’m not leaving any blood to follow.
If Charlotte was not close enough to see anyone by the time she arrived, then she should not have downed someone with Victor that far away.

...only to be revived by that same team mate that crushed Victor before Charlotte reaches me. We’ve already covered this.
And by then, I down No Mither again with Charlotte?

@TheClownIsKing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004620#Comment_2004620
But how do the Twins do that if Victor is the one that downed me before Charlotte has a chance to get reach me?
By switching out to Charlotte and using the KI that is provided to you before Victor is inevitably NFL'd into next week?
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004614#Comment_2004614
Except what is the right choice for them here?
Like I said, whenever Victor downed me and another survivor was nearby, and they went for them instead, I’ve crawled away. Neither Victor or Charlotte could find me before I’ve revived myself if nobody else came for me.
The right choice is to never let the No Mither get up.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:

Survivors are bad for crushing Victor while he’s idle and then reviving me instead of me doing it myself?
Oops, I meant to say that that makes the Killer bad. My bad.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004567#Comment_2004567
Except they don’t. If they spot another survivor they tend to not ignore them, because if the switch back to Victor they just get crushed and I’ll be revived by a team mate anyway.
I don't think that makes No Mither a decent option against Twins; I think that just makes the Killer bad.

Idiocy.
Too focused on getting a snowball happening by finding their next survivor.
Then just don't do that? Problem solved against No Mither.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
- Victor will always have a great deal of trouble tracking you.
- If downed by Victor, crawl away straight away. Unless Charlotte is running Deerstalker, or immediately switches from Victor for the KI tracking, downing the No Mither user was a complete waste of time because Charlotte is never going to find them before they revive.
Why wouldn't they just switch from Victor against No Mither?

That's just the way the game goes. Don't let it bother you. People will play how they want and you can not manage how they choose to play. Period. I just deal with it. If they suicide on hook, then oh the [BAD WORD] well. That doesn't mean all hope is lost and the other survivors are screwed over. Just keep playing and get as much BP as you can. You might even escape if the odds are in your favor.
TL;DR. Just roll with the punches and maybe something good might happen.
No? I want those who deliberately and intentionally screw their teammates over to be punished.
Also, intentionally destroying pallets and sandbagging your teammates is a reportable offense, so "People will play how they want and you can't do anything about it" doesn't even necessarily hold true.

Iri head huntress? A doc with overcharge purposely trying for a 3 gen? A Freddy with OP add ons and dying light? You can guarantee I'll be dying first hook. What's the issue? The killer has their precious kill and I get to move onto the next game.
The issue is with the three Survivors you just screwed over.

I'd say it's like a better version of Doctor's chase. Not one of my favorite chase themes, though. His menu theme is ace, though.
-
Yeah, that makes sense.
-
@DetailedDetriment said:
Considering the game can't tell the difference between players instantly losing connection and entering the menu to leave the game, I don't think this would ever work. You can't ban survivors who die on first hook without banning people who are just insane in a chase and get 1 hooked at the end of the match.
The key is to make a system that keeps track of the Survivors who frequently:
1) die on first-hook
2) attempt hook escapes
3) fail the struggle phase
4) get sacrificed within minutes of a trial starting
Any one of those could probably be logically explained by something benign. All four of them? Not so much.

I thought Enduring + Spirit Fury was beat by just dropping the pallet early? I could be wrong, but I think Enduring + Spirit Fury has fallen quite out of favor.

It's sort of both. They said huntress and demo are the next killers getting changes. I'm not 100% sure but I think they mentioned add-on reworks, so I assume Iridescent hatchets.
I mean, it's a very safe bet that Irihead is going to get nerfed when Huntress gets her add-on pass. But last I remember, the next Killer being worked on is Demogorgon.
-
It's clearly getting nerfed next patch
Is there something I missed, or is this just speculation? Just curious.

The downside to iri hatchet is extremely gratuitous and unnecessary.
Tombstone piece - That... is pretty useless.
Tombstone - will never happen due to the existence of the Evil Incarnate.
Iri Coin - .... who is even complaining about Iri coin?
Me. Current coin is trash. Change it.
As for these changes, I think the downside on Irihead is too harsh. Maybe just increase the time it takes for the hatchet reload animation. Tombstone Piece seems kinda weak, Judith's Tombstone I like, Coin I'n not sure how I feel about.

That isn't the only instance though.
If I see a camping Bubba, and the survivor no longer wants to engage in the match. I don't fault them for it.
You can't balance the people who do it on purpose vs the people who have a legit reason. It's sort of like Camping.... You can do it at your own leisure without reason OR you saw a survivor going back to hook immediately after hooking. The game doesn't know the difference.
Just don't punish them on the first offense. Punish them if the records show a consistent record of hook suiciding within the first few minutes of the match.

Yes and you as the ######### killer how does it affect you?
Oh, I don't care about it as a Killer. Make the game easier for me, for all I care.
I 1000% care about it as a Survivor. I think excessive hook suiciding like that warrants some form of eventual punishment because it actively hurts their teammates, frequently enough to just lose them the game on the spot.

Why the ######### does it ######### matter? are you butthurt because you dont get the satisfaction of taunting the survivor on hook?
You do realize that I am speaking purely from the perspective of a Survivor, right? Or do you think I was speaking as a Killer when I was face-camped for almost two whole minutes?
-
@HuDawg said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2003383#Comment_2003383
The only reasons as to why i would suicide on hook is if i get face camped or something irl came up otherwise i dont suicide
I don't even suicide for being face-camped. I was recently face-camped for almost two whole minutes at the start of the match and managed to escape because my teammates pressured gens enough to call the Killer's bluff and get them to leave long enough for the save.
But we are not other people. There are other people who do DC to ragequit. There are other people who do hook suicide to ragequit. Those people screw their teammates over badly. Not even the best of gen-rushing can save the team at that point unless the skillcap between the remaining Survivors and the Killers is massive. Those ragequitters are the ones who need to be punished.

They still have a chance to finish gens and get out you just gotta gen rush if they sucide on first hook i would care less if a survivor suicide on hook on both sides
You didn't answer my question.
-
@HuDawg said:
This is a bad idea because this will encourage tunneling more so thats a no
It's already super easy to keep track of the person you're tunneling. You gain nothing meaningful with being able to see hook states as a Killer if your only goal is to tunnel someone out of the game. If anything, it benefits Killers who DON'T tunnel because then they can keep track of who has yet to be hooked and whatnot.

Good question. Dcing denies a lot of the killer's points and the rage quitter gets none since he rage quit if someone suicides on hook they dont deny as much bps to the killer meanwhile the survivor gets a fair amount of points
Sorry, let me clarify since I was a little vague there.
What's the difference to a teammate?
-
@HuDawg said:
At least its not dcing so let em suicide if they want if im playing killer and a survivor suicide on hook does it bother me? No, not in the slightest. If im playing survivor and someone suicide on hook does it bother me? No, it sure sucks but it is only one down. I escaped with 1 survivor offing himself. In other words suicide on hook shouldn't be bannable.
"At least its not dcing"
What's the difference?
-
Immediate ban I think is overkill, but I do think there should be a gradual build-up to some form of repercussion for excessive early hook suiciding.
