Here's a question to OP: What would "feel" Korean to you?
-
I'm actually bummed out that we did not get a new map here. The last few I could kinda understand, but if there's one chapter that I feel warranted a new map, it's this one.

we are not talking about cosplay here.
We are talking to how people with specific harmful mindsets are drawn to liking certain characters and using these characters as justification to be harmful towards others.
But that's an issue with people with specific harmful mindsets. There is a good chance that those people would have those harmful mindsets and take harmful actions based on those mindsets without needing a fictional character to lean on as justification.

Thing is we didn't, unless the survivor is LGBT because I haven't gotten to reading her lore yet.
Neither character is hinted at in that regard in their lore.

Usually in a game you win you will get 4 stacks, for obvious reasons.
For this perk though you need those 4 stacks before all gens are done. Whilst running no slow-down perks and an end-game build.
My point is, it probably is one of those things which looks good on paper, until you go against a good team.
Yeah, you do make a fair point there.

Dumb question but is it just blood or is it bullet holes leaking blood . I can’t tell cause all I’ve seen are bad quality pictures
Just blood. He is quite gruesome with his killing in lore.

Yeah, but that perk also gives you useful information throughout the game, and you don't actually get additional value from unique stacks on it, just bloodpoints.
My point is that 4 stacks on this perk is pretty trivial.
-
@JPA said:
No Way Out requires you to have 4 unique hooks though to get max value, and if you managed to get that with a build with only end-game perks, then you deserve to win tbh
4 unique hooks is just how you get max stacks from BBQ.

Source? Did I miss some announcement?

Um, nothing in the chapter lore hints that the Killer is LGBTQ+. >.>

I'll outline it more clearly, though I kind of implied it in the thread:
-Remove most of the blood, especially the stuff on his actual body
-Use makeup to try and create a more interesting design for his face and establish his identity as a Killer, without necessarily having to turn him into an extaggerated monster and keeping the popstar look.
Personally, I feel the blood really lends to his look and sells the craziness. That's just my personal opinion, though.

I don't think an over the top mask or deformities are necessary, but in his current state, if you removed the blood splatters, he'd genuinely just look like a normal person.
I appreciate the "yeah, but real serial killers don't look like monsters", and that's perfectly true- But not only does that have little to do with visual design/appeal, but The Trickster doesn't exactly scream "normal person" either.
Kpop (and music groups in general) often use makeup, so that's what I would suggest as a way to create a divide between his popstar persona and his actual personality. Something that could pass as real makeup to try and beautify a band member, but looks unsettling when on the face of a grinning maniac.
But what would you change, though? Rather, specifically what would create the desired effect? You mention make-up, but that to me seems comparable to the blood splatters.

@Lexilogo said:
Darkness Among Us was pretty decent from a presentation design standpoint (Legion is arguably the single most successful character design in DbD) but from gameplay I think most would agree it was the single worst in the game's history.
I don't think The Trickster works with the current graphical design of Dead By Daylight. He doesn't have to wear a mask or anything but it doesn't take a professional artist to tell you he clearly doesn't fit with the game's visual identity very well. I'm not asking him to become a disfigured monster, but even if the design MUST, absolutely MUST keep him as a relatively normal human, there'd still be ways to successfully communicate his identity as a crazed murderer and get him to visually fit amongst the roster than just having some blood splatters.
What else would you change to effectively communicate this while keeping him as a normal human?
-
Gameplay-wise I cannot comment on the Killer as I only had one game as a Survivor (not the new one) and no Killer games. Look-wise I dig it. No real comment on the Survivor.
-
Nothing according to the lore.

Some people were saying in live chat neither of them are LGBT. Not sure if they read their entire lore or not.
I did. Nothing in the lore hints at the sexuality of either character (or that either of them are trans).

Yeah, fair enough.

nah u cant use dh to its full potential like that and yeah once u know how to use it to its max potential its almost a free health state
Why not? Windows of Opportunity lets me see which pallets are still open so I can plan my route such that I can make the pallet with or without DH.

tbh, Windows of Opportunity can be a nice perk solo.
Let's you know which areas still have pallets since you have no other way to know if your teammates already used of the pallets in an area.
I'm waiting for the buff to Open-Handed so that Windows can consistently see available pallets within a 36-meter radius.

"Oh, no! this guy's running Windows of Opportunity!" - No Killer, ever.
Well, yeah. Killers aren't going to know that a Survivor is running Windows of Opportunity. :P
-
@Drazen said:
although dh is a really strong perk I think it kinda deserves the reward for it because u need incredible knowledge of map layouts to properly use it unlike ds, bt which requires no skill
Alternatively, just substitute Windows of Opportunity for knowledge of map layout.

That's silly. Use whatever you want. It's not like there's a ban list you have to follow.

Simple way of determining a win as sometimes you can't get 12 hooks, sometimes survivor die on their first or second hook, or a survivor DCs.
This for me.
-
My solution:
1) Don't show any items or characters and stuff until everyone is in the lobby.
2) Once everyone is in, show everyone's ping and give everyone the option to either accept or leave (if one or more players leave, repeat steps 1 and 2 again)
3) Once everyone accepts, Survivor characters and items can be seen, and no one can leave the lobby without getting a disconnect penalty

Nah it's an original chapter since you can buy the content with cells.
Shards are free currency. Cells are premium currency.

Could it be possible that the Killer was trapped in the fire themself (either because they caused it and it backfired or they are simply a victim)?

True, but that could have been handled better as well IMO (though anything would have been better than leaving it as it was).
-
Exit gates are already powered. All bets are off.

This would make keys all but useless IMO.

The way I see it, the sense of progression for me does not come from how many pips are on that little wheel but rather from seeing the first skull icon on the HUD.

Weird Al Yankovic.

What is Mightee One Entertainment, though? Unless that question can be answered, I'd say the chances of a licensed chapter is very low.

As a neutral, I swear if I see another politicised sjw or right-wing character, I am going to lose it, it's a video game, this is why there is fandom so that eveyrone can be happy, just have the drag queen design as a skin, not the default, the others have to buy it to look different, why not them also?
What's wrong with a canon drag queen?
-
@Thunderous_670 said:

Then fine, start specifying that David is more than likely straight since he'd more than likely beat people or chastize them for being gay, or just because Yui is a feminist then doesn't mean she's gay, I mean, as a straight person I always see how holes like that in fanfic, but that's why it's fanfic no one cares, your just allowed to believe in whatever you want and everyone can be happy without having a "truth" shoved down your throat because it's "canon".
DBD fanfic existing does not mean DBD does not have actually established heterosexual relationships.
-
@Thunderous_670 said:
I don't get it, whatever happened to just letting the fans decide who's gay, straight or whatnot, and who's coupled with who? I mean sure we have Nurse and Wraith, but about the fandom that Nea and/or Yui are lesbians? Or David being gay? Because if we get an original character with a lgbtq background as their defining trait then perhaps it's time to start confirming everyone elses, even if dare I say, they are straight. Dang man, let the fandom decide, let us us our imagination.
Because "just use your imagination" doesn't really cut it as far as representation.

I see this thread is quick to label everyone something negative for having a different opinion with "phobic" attached to it, we're all worried about leaving a better world for our children but what about better children for our world, it's way too sensitive right now, Butcher shouldn't have had to tip-toe his opinion here, he's not actively using slurs or wishing death on the LGBTQ community, because that's hate speech, but he just has a different opinion, so why are the rest of you so quick to label him?
Problematic opinions can exist without the need for blatant hate speech or death-wishing, no?

The point he's probably trying to make is that wouldn't be satisfying for him since he wouldn't connect, I mean, I don't really play girl characters that often unless a challenge appears, not because I hate women because I do love women, but I also like playing character that I can connect with more like for me that's Jake and Ace as an example. Also I might be a little "homophobic" according to this thread, but it wouldn't it be better if the character's sexualities weren't specified but allowed fans to have their fiction, like I know Davida has tons of gay fanfiction but also allows straight people to enjoy him more without fully knowing he's gay, so everyone's happy, they have their own lore.
He's not simply saying he wouldn't connect personally. He's saying it doesn't fit. There's a difference between "I don't really play girl characters" and "Girl characters don't fit in the game."
it wouldn't it be better if the character's sexualities weren't specified but allowed fans to have their fiction
We already have heterosexual relationships in this game's lore, so that's already a non-option.

Alright if you're going to twist my words I'm out. No, you wanted the difference and I answered. Clowns always wear makeup so you have no right in saying that since I don't like the idea of a survivor with bright and massive pink hair, huge fake eyelashes and overdone makeup being chased by a killer I also have a problem with The Clown's makeup. The difference is Clowns wearing makeup is very common while a survivor with bright and massive pink hair, huge fake eyelashes and overdone makeup being chased by a killer is not.
You're the one who said that Clown gets a pass because it's traditional for that to be the case. Why should it matter what's common and what isn't?
-
@TheButcher6641 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1979401#Comment_1979401
Overdone makeup is funny as why clowns wear it. If you google clown I'm sure you will find many pictures of clowns wearing makeup. My point is that clowns wearing makeup is a tradition so The Clown wearing makeup in dbd is not at all unusual. However a survivor with bright and massive pink hair, huge fake eyelashes and overdone makeup being chased by a killer is so rare that it's probably never crossed your mind until now.
So make-up is only okay when it's following tradition?

I can honestly tell you I don't care, not when Clown can dress up in an elephant costume and the Legion can wear bunny onesies.
I mean, let's be honest here. If OP has a problem with make-up, you can just end your post with "not when Clown."
