Rewarding some people with bonus cosmetics because they have been loyal regular users is not “punishing” other people who haven’t played as much. Nobody is losing anything, the absolute worst thing that happens is a player’s inventory stays exactly the same as before the change, there’s no punishment.
One person’s gain is not another person’s punishment, it’s not a zero sum scenario or a competition.
Exactly that. It's a price loyal costumers get for playing and investing time nothing more.
I really hate how people think if someone does something and gets a reward that's a punishment for the other people for me that doesn't make sense. I haven't played early enough to get legacy cosmetics and I am totally fine with it when I see a surv with these cosmetics I think : nice a veteran. Many games have stuff like that especially games that are around for some time. In wow I have two dozen of items stored at my vault that you can't get anymore and it's always nice to rumage around and remember old stuff with friends.
It is still plenty of time to p3 your mains and I think you don't lose anything if you don't get an outfit for a char you don't play. Plus let's be real the real cool stuff will only come for original chars anyway because do you really think Nancy or Quentin will get an outfit?
-
Well that's just how it is. You either get one low quality copy paste thing for every one or a personalized one for a selected few and I think this aproche is Okey because these masks look so gorgeous I didn't even care to get the crowns for my characters because they I don't liked how they looked and I hated that you need to play a character to get the crown being able to play the killer I want to play and still get cosmetics is nice

@Sumnox said:
Don't you realise it's both? Why do you think those survivors play the way they play? And of course the killer who plays against them will also camp, tunnel and be generally toxic in return.
Who was first? egg/chicken scenario. We don't know who started it, probably back in 2016 because survivors were by far the power role (not anymore) they were the ones who made it their fun to ridicule the killer, especially SWF. From there, killers got more and more toxic as well, and the snowball effect started.
If I had to guess, it was SWF that started the cycle, and this is what we have now in 2022.
But it's not survivors lately. it's both.
You are probably right swf most probably started it because of course you can be cocky if you have a good working team and when you are on coms you heat each other up

There's another one
Okey so let's be honest let's say they deactivate the dc penalty till they got rid of the hacker problem and let's say they need like two months to find some working way to get rid of them.
So in these two month there will be about a dozen games that actually get completed. If you don't have penaltys it's very likely that the first guy that gets down just dcs and then since there is no penalty the rest goes out to. The same will happen with killers oh two gens poped before I got a hook dc.
Do you think the game would survive the time they would need to get rid of the hacker problem because it's bhvr and they will need like half a year to a year.
I don't want to defend hackers but no dc penalty just sounds like the doom of dbd
-
But with your idea DH doesn't change and it isn't only a problem that really good survs get nearly invisible with it its also a problem that you can just evade any Form of play the killer does with the press of a button.
Just imagine killers had a perk that the could press E and boom my hit lands no matter what the survivor is doing
-
What I like about your idea is a perk slot dedicated for one type of perk. That could be done with every perk slot so that you can't stack second chance perks or gen slowdown and then you could very well add a fifth slot for killer and survivor.
Exhaustion perks are a good example for that. Sure you can have four exhaustion perks but you can just use one at a time so it would make sense

People take playing this game and losing at it too seriously... I have yet to figure out why so many have such sensitive egos.
If the problem was my ego wouldn't I take a loss too seriously in every game tho? I mean you are right in every game you can find people that act like they should every game and they get overly angry when they lose and that's definitely an ego thing

Practice mode would be a huge addition for the game. It's so silly that players have to learn the power mechanics by losing repeatedly. Imagine if Billy players could practice curves or Nurse players could get blink distance and timing down before going into their first matches.
That would be so nice. That's a reason I stay away from movement killer because they are tricky and I don't want to suffer while learning
-
@[Deleted User] said:
This is a complicated one for me, and it's tough to pinpoint any specific reason, but I have a few that come to mind.
The matchmaking in DbD is noticeably worse than other competitive games. It's worse by orders of magnitude. The equivalent of GM in Overwatch is matched with 200 hrs in DbD routinely and we don't bat an eye at this point. It's expected. It happens both ways. You have a survivor who can run perfectly that is matched with an urban evading baby, and you have a 4k hr Nurse matched with players who run straight and don't look behind them.
It is extremely difficult to overcome bad matchmaking on the survivor side as a survivor. You can't carry a team who doesn't do the single objective they have. It's not possible. To use OW as an example again, if you did get matched downward or smurf downward, you could dominate the other team and carry to victory. It is literally impossible to do that in DbD unless the killer is also incompetent and chases you for multiple gens instead of the bad the players. I've pulled it off before where we had a 3v1 at 3 gens remaining and the killer decided to chase me for the last 3 gens for whatever reason. But that was the killer being dumb.
You can't get carried by teammates on the killer side in the event of bad matchmaking. If the game decides to throw you against players well above your skill level, you're on your own. It will probably feel hopeless.
You can lose to the loadout screen or map RNG. Sometimes you're on Clown and get The Game. Sucks to suck. You have to hope the survivors are bad. Sometimes the maps spawn massive dead zones and you're playing against a one shot killer. Sometimes the map spawns every jungle gym possible and you're on Myers.
What little competitive balance there is comes in the form of perks, not characters. 90% of the perks in the game on both sides are throw picks if the other team is trying to win. And you have absolutely no way of knowing how the other side is going to play. There's a single queue and you have zero chance if the match is made well, one side brings meta, and the other doesn't.
I think the game goes too far in the non-competitive direction and that causes much of the frustration that the playerbase feels.
That's a pretty good description. On killer side I think another factor is that I still haven't found myself a real main character and I think that's important as killer but since I can't test killers I don't own I am extremely cautious with buying them because who has a money trea u know
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Because as killer you have no team to blame. And also this community is very judgemental which makes losing feel worse.
I would wish we had an mode to play with atleast two killers so I can play with my friends or even a randy. Being a killer main sometimes feels lonely

@Aven_Fallen said:
Because in Teamgames, you can at least trick yourself that it was not only your fault that you lost. In DBD, you are the only player, so you were the one responsible for losing.
That's the funny thing. I am totally aware that at the moment most of my league games are lost because I play so poorly I feed my lane opponent and he rocks the game but that somehow doesn't fell as bad
-
Every killer that has a range power because for the love of the entity I can't hit someone and I just don't get myself to spend the time to learn it. Second would be nurse blight and Billy with the last two I just bumb into everything and I'm just bad at teleporting with nurse

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/323420/the-best-way-to-nerf-noed
Dont try to ask for killer nerfs, or hordes of killers will come to camp and tunnel you in the forum
Come on that isn't a nerf that's like saying a good nerf for ruin is to show its aura permanently to the survs
-
The thing is most people that are loud and complain don't really want a fix. They don't care about a mechanism to prevent camping they want a tool to fight the killer they want divine punishment for those they see unfit.
Camping needs to be resolved in a working way without making room for exploids or cutting down legit reasons to camp and tunnel.
But the people here even say they don't care if a mechanism is exploiteble if it hurts the killer side
-
From what I have seen i often think survivor think the killer is some npc that has to be hold by certain rules and that exists for them to have a nice time. So many content creators out there have whole carriers around the idea to play with the killer no matter how the game ends.
Don't get me wrong I'm pretty sure killer mains aren't much better I just don't have experience with that cause I am one myself and I would say I play pretty regular (wich could be totally wrong).
It would be pretty interesting what happened first did survs startet to make there own fun and Roy with the killer and they then startet to be toxic or was is just always a thing. And sure you always had toxic people on both sides that's for sure but I talk about a wider scale

Pig is the only killer who can easily get a 4K without even moving. Her traps get her free kills so if she gets any buffs they need to be nerfed big. There's a reason her killrate is so high and it isn't all "bad survivors", it's mostly pig players being carried by trap kills and winning with Noed
So the killer is carried by her power? You know why it's called a power because it is supposed to be powerful.
But hey let's better make every power like sadako power so it has nearly zero impact and can be controlled by the survs

Bloodweb changes such as:
- 1-click auto-complete bloodweb, eg. I chose the two perks but idc what else I get so I click one button to randomly complete the web.
- Remove the "You're at Level 50" message after completing a bloodweb. I know, you tell me every time!
Loadout changes like:
- Custom loadout presets.
- Group perks by letter instead of numbered pages, eg. "A-B", "B-D", "D-G" etc...
Store QOL:
- New filter to show only cosmetics that are available for Iri Shards.
Gameplay QOL:
- Let survivors complete skillchecks that trigger when they leave a gen, instead of automatically blowing the gen.
- Remove hook grabs on healthy survivors.
All good things except the last one. That would only mean you could go an unhook right in the killers face and he can only stop you if he has insta down and yes that's what happens even if the killer isn't camping
-
Oh boy sometimes you just get these guys. No matter what you do you hack.
Start playing Demo and sooner or later you will get reported for hacking in a deletet character
-
Well maybe not playing the other side but every one should atleast read every killer power and perk before accusing people of hacking

I think they should at least remove the ability to grab survivors while unhooking
Then there's no punishment for running to the hook with BT and rescuing the survivor in front of the killer. Regardless if they were camping or not. It would be old BT all over again.
Exatcly that. As it is right now as a not one shot killer all i can do to prevent an unhook is to hope the grab works if that Mechanik does not work I just lose no matter if I am camping or not and the next thing that will happen is I am going to punish that bold move and down that surv again and every one is going to demand build in anti tunnel

Just noting I added a warning to the title. I personally don't mind spiders myself (at least as long as I can tell what kind of spider it is, anyway), but I know some people do have arachnophobia, often severe, and wanted to make sure people are aware of the thread contents <3
Since arachnophobia is a relatively common phobia (atleast in my mind) would that be a reason for you guys to not make a spider killer? I know other games do stuff like changing the spider to a floating kitten picture because of that
-
@yobuddd said:
My only complaint with this is that, so far, all killers are humanoid. Maybe if this were some sort of spider queen who controls spiders or is even part spider herself…. But whatever we get should still walk on 2 legs I think.
But why? Why not something new? I know making a killer like that would mean a lot of work for bhvr because they can't slap it on the existing framework but new stuff is exciting and a giant spider would be really cool and would open the door for many other non human killer we could get out of folklore

Yeah. And their power is just garbage. It should have never left QA. Yet, the released this mess, nerfed this mess and buffed this mess again. And the best thing? Legion is as annoying and as weak as always.
I don't think it's garbage if paired with thana it's really nice slowdown and I like to zoom around and stab people plus the vaulting feels nice. It's Okey to don't like to play them no one is going to make you and for the survs well it's either a killer with a strong power that's ending chances quick or a killer that is less lethal but slows down the game flow what els could it be

The big difference: Holding M1 on a Gen actually progresses the Game. Holding M1 while Mending just prolongs it.
Yeah because that's legions power they aren't super lethal but they prolong the game to have more time to kill with that. That's why Billy or bubba don't have a build in slowdown because they are lethal
-
If you really hate the game then the best way to make you happy and show it to the devs is to just stop playing
-
So you are begging for the game to end? We already don't have the biggest player base and we already have a problem with killer numbers at peak hours caue people rather play with there friends and you want to decide that into two or even more different modes? That's ridiculous
-
I would be totally OK with them bringing a recolor of the prime skins later to the shop cause it doesn't matter how you paid for it if it's just bought. But legacy or skins for chalanges is another thing that stuff should be locked there is nothing worse then achieving something and getting a reward just for other people to get that same reward later for free / money

I mean tunnelling happens throughout the course of normal play, sometimes the unhooker ghosts and leaves the unhooked up as bait, and often times it's survivors intentionally baiting the DS.
If you're gonna intentionally park your ass in front of my blade it's getting slashed, you're only wasting your DS on an avoidable hit, so I'm not too bothered.
Yeah when a surv thinks I am going to ignore him because tunneling is stupid he is wrong and if I happen to follow your scratchmakrs from the hook because your mate is freaking ninja that's to bad
-
Oh man I am so sad that nurse is quite hard to learn it's just not for me but I love her lore and her designe it's so cool.
I think it's hard to nerf her without making her outright bad and since I am totally against reworks I don't really know what to do with her
-
@Seraphor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2945381#Comment_2945381
Given the nerf to DS that makes it more situational, I'd be all for it having 2 tokens or charges. But it probably wouldn't work all that well.
If you got hit with DS after the first time a survivor was unhooked, then you'll just wait it out the second time.
It would make it far more worthwhile combining it with Unbreakable though, basically covering both bases.
On a personal note I try to avoid tunneling as much as possible so I nearly never face a ds other then in endgame when I think tunneling Is fairgame so it wouldn't make a difference for me personally if it had two uses

I understand where you're coming from and I appreciate you being respectful and level headed about it.
I get what you mean now regarding the engaging with someone comment. I don't disagree with you.
This is where there was crossed wires. This is a speculation thread. Not a defining who is gay thread. A few of us mentioned Trickster as a possibility, emphasis on possibility, because of his dress sense. Nobody is looking at him and saying that's a gay man. But suddenly words like homophobic and evil were thrown for no reason.
Btw I'd never guess English isn't your first language. It's excellent.
Well thank you, first language is German by the way.
I really love it when you can have a nice discussion here without rage or throwing strawman arguments around you know.
To be fair i have a certain view on these things because I have to feel it daily but you are a nice discussion partner.
I think the thing I like the most that David is the first gay guy is that you can't play spot the gay and it's the fairy looking guy :D so to get back on the rails I think death slinger could work and break that manly cowboy headhunter image but to be honest I didn't looked up his lore that's something I need to do for a couple of characters

Well at least you're more level headed about discussing this.
You say you wear jewelry and women's clothing. Fair enough. But it wouldn't make anyone a bad person or homophobic if they saw that and thought maybe you were gay. If they thought anything derogatory about you for it then it would.
Nobody is putting any pre conceived labels. It's speculation on possibilities. I am not saying in my mind Trickster is definitely gay because of how he dresses.
I'm not sure what you mean by don't think about sexuality if you don't want to engage with them. We're talking about fictional characters here. We're never going to engage with them.
I don't want to say every one that thinks someone else is gay because he isn't rocking a traditional manly fit I think we should just get rid of these pictures in our heads if you know what I mean. So you can look and wear what ever you like and people don't assume you to be anything. I know that this is normal I just thing it would hurt to abandon it.
To be fair I may stretched that topic over only talking about just Trickster. I basicly meant you Shoulnd think about what sexuality someone has on how he looks if it in the end doesn't matter to you because you woulnd engage with them either way.
Sorry English isn't my fist language I may struggle to make clear what I want to say

Define flamboyant. Are you wearing the kind of colorful clothing Trickster does along with make up, jewelry etc?
It's not a cliché to think someone who dresses like that is a more likely candidate. Nor is it evil or homophobic. To suspect someone is gay because of their dress sense doesn't mean you are anti gay or a bad person.
Not make up but jewelry and colorfull stuff even "woman" cloth.
Like I said you are not a bad for thinking that because it is a picture that got painted for a long time and it is a wrong picture atleast in my mind. We need to stop putting preconceived labels on people for how the look and what they wear. Best way is to don't think about the sexuality of anyone if you don't want to engage with them

I mean trickster gets that since he is in the game. When he was first released we had a couple of post here of people talking about how they could destroy him because he is not manly enough. So please, just bring it! It’s worth it and you can help your team out many times!
Sure will do.... If you come around buy lorie and level her to unlock it and the level my main survivor till I have it on them till then don't tell people that they ruin the game for there mates when you literally talk about a perk that is behind a pay wall

Nice how for you 10 and 60 seconds are comparble.
Ds does what it did before it is meant to counter tunneling its not meant for you to have a shield so you can sit there and work on a Gen and when the killer comes around you can have 39 second plus chase only to smack him when he downs you. Killer are players to we aren't npcs to entertain you

killers kill boil over because a one spot in one map and only with swf
It's different if you have a combo that's is really strong on one killer or you have a perk that made it literally impossible to hook a survivor and let the just stall the game.
What I wanted to say is many killers could need a good perk or a good perk combo and if that is a problem on one or two killer we should look into these killer because let's be real it's more likely to get a good perk to help out the weaker killer then to hope they get some buffs

I don't think people truly think that but with all the resources they put into cosmetics they could move that time and money into fixing the game.
Back on topic there will alway be people that will just camp and tunnel, but the rise of it happening does tell about the state of the game. There is way to fix things but it would cause a Survivor riot, and that is nerf the hell out of them.
The Killer needs more time and the way Survivors are right now doesn't give it to them.
Sure they put resources in cosmetics but that's the budget for the art department putting funds from there to fix the game meaning more/better programmers would mean people getting fired

What would be the issue with Trapper and Hag? Gameplay advantage/disadvantage because of visibility?
it would be especially weird for killers without visible powers: Myers, GF, Spirit, Nurse, Doctor..
Exactly if some traps would be harder to see because of a skin that would mean you basicly have a pay to win skin/ a requirement if you want to be really good.
I remember League had that problem with some of the winter skins and the snow map
-
The killswitch is only for stuff that is broken or bugged like when nurse got killswitched or midwich is right now.
-
Ttv. I faced a fair number of ttvs and I actually found two super nice streamer through this game but sadly that's like 1% of the streamer I faced.
Most ttvs are super toxic and believe they can't fail in anything because they broadcast and that they are right the second they open there mouth. I had so many people complaining about everything and I don't even mean tunneling or camping. I had a guy raging because I found his bright neon colored nea sitting behind a tree or one woman getting really really worked up because she desperately tryed to do head on shenanigans with her gf and I always heard the locker so I just grabbed her.
I legit had a streamer complain in stream and chat that I killed them first because that's bad for his views
-
The survs hate the mending and I can understand that to a certain degree but people saying they should be getting a complete rework is outrageous and luckily bhvr isn't a big fan a total reworks either. While it's not super funny for the survs I freaking love legion because I love that running around and stabbing playstyle and they can extend the game so you actually have time to play how survs like us to do and don't tunnel or camp

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to tell people this. There are people that genuinely believe that BHVR completely halting all cosmetic releases will somehow speed up bug fixes etc. It's maddening.
It's like this people think they just fire the whole art department to get more programmers (as if that would make it faster or better) and when a new killer gets designed all programmers get fired for new art people
