Just for the record, he isn't getting paid for this. He chooses to be on here in his free time. It's no more a part of his job to be interacting on the forums than it is yours or mine.
I think you missed what he was actually talking about so I'll lead you to the correct answer.
What is his job? What is he being paid for?
Here's a hint: The person you're responding to wasn't talking about his activity on the forums.

Be honest.. how many pops are you actually using between 45 and 60 seconds. 15 seconds is hardly a nerf.
It's a nerf to midgame pops, but endgame pops are just as strong.
In the end it means less pressure for the killers unless they can find survivors quickly... which is up to all of the variables in a match.

What do you mean here we go? Should we just pretend that DS isn't a problem or what?
This sounded like he got his popcorn ready and settled in for the forum remarks.
You need to chill.

Basically what he's talking about is the "BUT DS ISN'T ANTI TUNNEL, BECAUSE PEANITS SAYS IT IS" argument. Scott explains how it 100% is an anti-tunnel perk, because if it wasn't, it wouldn't activate if a survivor was recently unhooked (he also says he has screenshots of other devs like Mclean saying it was intended for anti-tunnel). He also explains how, even if DS was anti momentum, it wouldn't be fair at all, because perks that stop a killers momentum, just for simply existing with barely any input from the other side shouldn't exist (he brings up old MoM as an example).

"I swear to god if someone else links me the link of peanits saying its not a anti tunnel ive been told by 3 other devs the new one is a anti tunnel the old one was anti momentum since itd stun for no reason"

Sounds about right to me XD

Pop's duration is being reduced because we found you could spend too much time doing other things and still have it available.
Kind of like Decisive Strike?
-
An important aspect people are forgetting to consider when comparing the two perks is that it's not about how many times they can be used.
How much time does each perk buy the players using it?
Pop regresses a gen instantly 25% of its total progression which I understand to be 25% of the progression survivors have made on the gen.
At the very most when a gen is almost complete a gen can be popped regressing it by 20 seconds.
If a gen is 50% complete then pop will regress it by 10 seconds.
If a survivor uses DS once, depending on the skill of the survivor the chase can last much longer than it would take survivors to recover the lost progress of a popped gen.
This is where the disparity lies and should be considered when talking about these two perks in comparison.

No one knows for sure, but in the meantime you can try builds without it.
You'll only improve if you do.
-
Currently 73 perks.
3 tiers each = 219 levels
-3 perk tiers cuz each killer starts with tier 1 of their own perks = 216 levels remaining
1-39 = about 1 million bp = 177 levels remaining
40-49 = about 450,000 Bp with 2 perk levels claimed each web = 18-177 = 159 levels remaining
50 = 55k Bp average for remaining perk levels 2 per web = 80 levels x 55k = 4.4 million bp
about 6.5 million Bp to max a character (estimate rounded up) WITHOUT Prestige.
The grind isn't as bad as it used to be but it's still daunting.

I don't understand why they added the noise. No one asked for it and from the people I've talked to no one likes it.
Don't want to sound like a d*ck but I just find it extremely annoying to listen to and I don't think there was any reason to add it.
It must be so annoying to be forced to listen to noise that is purposefully loud so you can't hear your opponents.
But man chase music on the killer side and survivor noises are just fine aren't they?
In all seriousness, I wish they'd get rid of the loud and obnoxious "extra noises" they use to mask other noises. There was a period of a few months where the music was very quiet and the game was much more atmospheric as a result.

Hag has an addon for 5 sec aura read on any trap (green)
Myers has scratched mirror (purple but infinite) and other addons for aura read (green and yellow)
Doc has aura read addons (green and yellow)
Huntress has a trash aura read addon (purple)
Wraith has aura addon (purple)
Pig has aura addon (iri)
etc..
everyone can settle down now
The problem is the amount of control the blight has over when to read those auras and how effective the radius and duration both are in this situation.
The control of the aura reading is more limited on those other characters.
It really is too much and it'll definitely get nerfed by the midchapter patch.
They'll nerf the Rarity, Duration OR the Radius of the addon, but worst case scenario is they'll nerf more than just one of those options killing the addon entirely.

Hit validation is off afaik, unless they very recently (like today) added it back again. That's just dbd being dbd.
I'm in a meeting rn so I can't watch the video you linked, but in theory I don't think this would be much of a problem. Grabs will be somewhat easier, but survivors won't take hits from like 30 feet away because the killer's playing on dial up. On the whole I'd definitely take that as both a killer and a survivor. It's just more consistency overall.
It was really just a comparison to the poster talking about how their feet touched the ground on the opposite side of a vault and was grabbed. In the video this happened to one player that I could confirm. The other it "might' have happened to.

It's not a reliable indicator of performance, so it's not useful for MMR. MMR systems make mathematical predictions about the outcome of a match based on the incoming players' MMRs. Something as loosely tied to performance as play time doesn't help.
So what did your data say about the outcome of a match when "red rank" players (players with more time in the game) went up against "Rank 20" players (players with little to no time in the game)?
I ask, because when the MMR system went live many players reported going up against players with less time in the game than themselves and that period of time would be a good gauge of whether time should be a factor in the calculation or not.
-
@Almo said:
Playtime is a poor indicator of how well someone plays. Different people have vastly different amounts of effort they're willing to put in to get better at a game. Once a person is past that point, their ability at the game increases very slowly with further playtime.
The OP asked if playtime should be a "Factor" in the calculation.
Time = Experience regardless of whether the player is actively trying to get better at a game. A casual player with 500 hours is going to be more skilled than a new player with 5 hours in.
Those two players shouldn't be put into a match together for any reason which is why Time Played should be a FACTOR in the calculation.
Clearly, time played isn't the only thing that should be considered in an MMR calculation, but shouldn't it be part of it?

That would require me finding 100+ people who stream the game and are also going for a 50+ win streak. Which isn't going to happen on either side of the fence. We both know this. However my point was people like to bring up Death squads with survivors playing at their most optimal all the time and blame swf for everything. Yet when a person who plays killer at an extremely high level destroys survivors left and right because of their skill, it's completely ignored. And immediately discredited as either the survivors they played against were all potatoes. Or...They play the game a ton so of course they do well. Ignoring the fact that a lot of those death squads probably also have 1000's of hours in the game.
The difference that you just proved to everyone is that there are MANY players who go against the SWF death squads meaning that the SWF death squad is more common than a single player achieving a 50+ win streak.
If you don't want people to ignore that single instance, find more of them by other "regular" players. Otherwise you're mistaken in your observation.

Well the question is how many games does one have to do before it isn't anecdotal? 100 games is a pretty decent sample size I'd say. But he plans on attempting it with all of the killers. We don't really have a way to determine something like this group of survivors are the best in the world, same for killer. We don't have a real way to say this is the best killer in the world. But I think it at least paints a pretty good picture that killers are not as weak as some killer mains try to make you believe.
It stops being anecdotal when 100+ people each manage a 50+ win streak.
If ONE player can accomplish that, it's anecdotal. If MANY can accomplish it, then the killer is stronger than people think.
Call us again when you find 100 videos of these 50 win streaks.

1.) There are so many bugs and problems it will take the devs a VERY long time to fix them all. Also dev team is really small.
2.) New match making is not on at the moment. They turned it off not long after they turned it on.
3.) Camping and tunneling is a strategy and the devs have said so.
4.) You can destroy all 5 totems before all the gens get done. Then poof no noed. Perks to use detectives hunch or small game.
The dev team was about 40-45 people when they first made the game. They currently have 75 +-
I wouldn't say it's a really small team compare to other indie teams with 4-13 people working on a game.
Junkfish as an example has a team of 13 people working on their latest game.
-
Killer Main here.
What I don't understand is this... If you're aware of the bug, why are you still getting stuck?
I usually slug a survivor if they're stuck there but I won't go out of my way to help them.
-
The shoutout clearly..
-
They hired people who didn't know anything about the game until they started at the company and let those people change the game according to what other games do in regards to lazy fixes and ill-conceived concepts.
They're running out of ideas and because of that the perks are only going to get worse as the devs continue to copy and tweak perks that are already in the game.

Oh, fair enough. I'd assumed the pandemic might've caused some delays.
They're all working from home :)
-
"Some of us get our kicks seeing just how hard we can fuNk with the Killer and waste their time entirely." - One of the reasons survivors get tunneled.
"It's a legitimate part of the game. Stop acting like it's not." - So is tunneling stealthy survivors.
Congratulations on making the case for Killers to tunnel survivors in your anti-tunnel post.
-
I'm assuming this means so the system can track the matches so when MMR is turned on again it'll have accurate data to work from.
Hopefully, they fix the issue that seemingly inverted the matchmaking lol
-
Not every SWF is non-toxic.
-
I'm waiting for something more interesting to come along.
I'm an MMO player at heart so waiting for Ashes of Creation and Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen.
Those will be finished in a number of years and right now nothing else grabs my attention so here I am.
But as soon as something better comes along I'll probably jump ship. M2
-
If you used perks, ran away from the killer, dropped pallets, rescued teammates, healed or otherwise tried to achieve the game's objective to escape then you're just as sweaty.
-
I think you should change the title to imply that you want a WORKING MMR system back :)

If you saw those survivors would you dodge regardless of their platform?
