Lol,
Camping: staying next to a hooked person or patrolling the hooked person waiting for him/her to change phases on hook. There are different kinds of camping, meaning, face camping, close camping, proxi camping, trap camping (hag), etc.
Tunneling: focusing a specific person until he/she dies, if that person is unhooked the killer goes straight for him/her.
Don't speak if you have no arguments please, I've been here since the game launched... And I actually played about 5 custom games with my friends in order for them to know what the correct gameplay actually is.
I think that was a mistake. For new players it's imo better to just play the game and take in the horror aspect of the game and slowly start getting good at the mechanical aspect.
Jumping straight to the mechanical aspect is pretty repeling if your not good/willing to make mistakes.
As much as immersed survivors are annoying as teammates. I think it's pretty important first step into the game. New players find the killer scary so that they go down isn't the end of the world for them.
I ofcourse don't know what you mean by "telling them what the correct gameplay is" so i don't know if what i said is relevant here. Just a thought process
-
I don't understand her either. That pigs mask just muffles her voice too much
-
Kinda odd how our friends already use the terms camp and tunnel.
New survivors experience is normally more centered on the horror aspect rather then the mechanics aspect. I know my first survivors games were mostly the thrill of evading the killer or the jumpscare from the killer not being where you thought he was. Escaping wasen't even on my mind in the first few dozen hours
I do agree that dbd has quite a punishing learning curve. I wouldn't really say steep but mistakes do cost you quite a lot.
honestly updating the tooltips would be a good first step to make this game more beginner friendly. Stuff like.
- The Killer can only be at one place at a time. If they stay at the hook they aren't protecting gens
- Don't focus on a single survivor too long, there are 3 others working to escape!
- A hooked survivor is more valuable then a dead survivor. Taking one for the team could increase your survival chances.
- Survivors see a red light in the direction your looking, looking away can decieve them.
- Killers are furocious, Not everyone will always make it out.
- The entity feeds of hope. In order for there to be hope to feed on, survival is a real possibility. Some will escape.
-
Worst killer does not necessarily mean bad killer. Against avarage players you can do well with every killer. Myers in preticular is very decent against avarage players because of his snowball potential but once you get players that know how to delay his stalk it can take a really long time to get out of tier 1.
I don't play Myers often so i can't really comment on it but i do know that if a tier 1 myers follows a top survivor to shack to try and get stalk, he will cry. a lot

one survivor slipping out early is actually better than a kill. i did nothing and a player vanished from the game. the other three are in major hot water now.
i just hate the blowhards that make it a show and dance. they wait around for me to find them, specifically so they can teabag and point at me before popping it open and leaving directly in my face. it's the toxicity and the showboating that upsets me, not the hatch escape itself.
for the killer maybe. for the survivors it's just a lost game that most likely still could have been won that's cut short for no reason.
That's exactly my problem with it. you have a tense game and then it's just over because one just leaves. The others probably won't stand a chance anymore. It makes an exciting game and turns it into a boring stomp where you have to feel bad cause it's really not their fault their teammate just bailed.
It's kind of like monopoly where one player just decides this isn't fun anymore and gives all his properties to the winning player. It just ruins the game for everyone
It's just bad for both sides
-
Also slight disagree with op
people who main a certain role aren't always entitled.
It's just that people who are entitled usually main a certain role

they're still not fine.
give them a 15 second long animation, that cannot be cancelled, and can be grabbed, and interrupted on hit, for an escape for one person only, and then the hatch moves afterwards, whether the escape is successful or not, and i'll say keys are fine. that or pay me £300, i do in fact take cash bribes.
Even that wouldn't be fine. as long as keys allow the game to end halfway they will never be fine.
Hatch needs to only spawn when there is one survivor left or all gens are done. that's it. that's all that needs to happen
-
Ping or keys, that's it.
Ping is obvious.
Key's you either stomp the survivors or the game ends halfway. Either way not fun
-
Chucky hands down.
The only licence left that i would buy no matter what
-
I tried it with GF and it actually did not work as well as i though it would.
They kept revealing me before i was able to hit them. Didn't help that the obsession DC'ed so i couldn't activate my dark devotion anymore
Luckilly me deciding to not deadhook them leaded to me getting the last hit i needed in the exit gate as we were both butt dancing
-
BHVR is actually a cult to a real eldritch spider god.
But instead of hope it feeds primarily on frustration. And even though it drives us mad we can't resist it's aluring call.
No worries though, after the 5th anniversery and all the RE fans come in. The Thing In The Code will be powerfull enough.
It will all be over soon.
-
We fixed the exploit of blight j-flicking. It is now a feature
-
4k and especially everyone escaping is akin to flawless victories in fighting games. It should be relativelly rare.
It is kinda a problem that people see this as the victory condition. It just creates a very skewed idea of balance.
I wouldn't be surprised if over half the people that think this game is frustrating have this mindset. They are really doing it to themself.
Lower the expectation of what a victory is and this game becomes a lot more enjoyable. If you only see the most extreme as a victory then you can't say anything about balance cause you're not playing the same game at that point

Eh not overly for legion as you don't actually want the larger Terror radius while in a chase as it can often lead you to chasing survivors you can't possibly reach in time(Killer Instinct is tied to their radius).
Also for killers like Plague,Oni, and/or depending on your build Bubba don't actually want a smaller terror radius as they rely heavily on Infectious Fright which reveals survivors inside of your radius thus wanting a normal sized one(Too small you miss survivors too big well look at the top above).
Anyways the best killers for it are objectively Michael(Again depends on the build)/Deathslinger/Trickster as it lets them more easily ambush the survivors.
Finally for billy you have add-ons that can outright grant undetectable and unless you're running one of his Ultra rares the apex muffler your chainsaw sound isn't suppressed by M&A.
M&A is pretty decent on Legion. Just because you detect them you don't have to run after them.
Once you get better at Legion you can judge the distance pretty well and just cancel your power so you have it back when you get there or just be content with the extra information you got.
There are many better options but it's not bad
-
Don't cleanse all the totems if you're solo but remember where they are
If you cleanse one well hidden totem and remember the position of 2 easy to find ones you already have a 50% chance of finding noed really fast and that's with only a 16s investment and the rest of your team doing nothing at all

It was more than the now changed original Title. There was also the original, pre-edit post. :) The intent was to antagonize a Player for fun. That was it; that was the entire point of the original post. There is no cleaning that up or revising it after the fact. All the OP had to do was clarify that or apologize for that aspect of it. Instead, he dug deeper and deeper and eventually that Title got changed and the first post got a revision.
Bad sportsmanship is bad sportsmanship. It is a weird thing to post about and an even weirder thing to do just to get one's jollies. If the OP didn't actually mean it that way, he could have corrected that. The intent was to be a jerk; there is no reason to be surprised that there are people who are going to say, "hey, being a jerk isn't funny." I see no difference between his behavior and the others I listed because the INTENT was the same, the reason for the act was the same. It would be hypocritical for me to treat them differently.
Fair enough. I don't remember fully what the original post was so i can't really comment about it
Do still want to make it clear to everyone that if this happens to you that effectivelly nothing happened and there is zero reason to be upset about it
Whatever the intent is, the act is harmless

It isn't the intent to trick the Killer that is the primary issue, but rather the point of it being to antagonize people specifically so you can take a weird pleasure in them getting salty in the after game chat. I think using SWF's 5th Perk (Comms) to try and further stack things to one's advantage by Metagaming outside the match is of questionable ethics, but that isn't why I chimed in on this thread. I take issue with stated intent, as evidenced by the title of the thread and the OP's first post, which is to piss people off for laughs. It is just being a bad sport and a person who gets his jollies in a rather perverse way.
And for the record, this isn't about "us versus them" for me at least. I don't care which role you are trying to aggravate for kicks, it is just plain obnoxious. I would call it out the same, and have in fact in the past when people were doing things as the Killer just to aggravate the Survivor Players outside of the game. There is that obnoxious habit of pretending to give people the hatch just so it can be slammed in their face, or pretending to let them crawl out the gate just to go get them before they make it out. Letting people bleed out for no game purpose is the same. All of the people I've called on this said the SAME thing, that it was just for laughs. Most of them also told me I take the game too serious. Imagine that.
The whole comms point is mood. There is a chat box on pc. Solos can do this too
While i agree the op's choice of original tittle to this post was poor there is nothing to be antagonized over. Nothing antagonizing was done
There is no advantage they are gaining as long as they are switching to no items. Which they did apperently. Lightborn isn't wasted here. You still dealt with their flashlights just by the perks existence
If anything they are putting themself at a disadvantage because if the killer didn't pick a anti flashlight perk they lose the flashlights they could have used
Closing the hatch in someone's face is different from this. Pretending to give hatch is like a brother pretending to give his sister a candy bar and then eating it himself before so can get it. What OP did was pretending to eat the candybar but then giving it anyway. There's a world if difference between that.
The other examples you gave are good examples of antagonizing behaviour but this just isn't. Nothing harmfull was done. The only thing that happened is that instead of making flashlights useless lightborn made them dissapear
As i said before. Think if something is worth being upset about before being upset about it.
-
Whispers.
I can understand why it's good but in my experience it helps me find the first survivor slightly faster then stays lit up for the entire match untill the end where it allows me to find the last person.
I know it's good but i never get good use out of it
-
As long as multiple survivors can escape without doing the gens keys will be problematic.
Make it so hatch only spawns when all gens are finished or there is only one survivor left is the only way to really fix them outside of a complete rework that they are apperently doing.
-
I wonder if this threat would have blown up as much if the tittle was something like.
How to bamboozle the killer.
Kinda sad to see this thread devolve into another "us vs them" post.
There is zero difference between them having useless flashlights because of lightborn or them not having flashlights outside maybe 1 attempt at blinding.
Switching out the flashlights or not has little to no effect on how that game goes. Lightborn still made it so you don't have to deal with flashlights. Wether they have them or not is irrelevant.
As long as op didn't switch to all toolboxes or keys they did nothing wrong.
Can people please think if something is worth getting upset over before getting upset over it. Or is today's society's ego really that fragile that the second they get trolled they need to get upset. No matter how harmless that trolling actually was.

Point #6 is very true.
I'd say it will most likely only be Mr. X, but their is a chance they might release Nemesis as a 2nd killer along with him.
Trickster was extremely underpowered and poorly received by pretty much everyone so it is doubtful they will repeat the same mistake so early on. It's possible for 2 killers and 1 being meh, and the other (nem) being very strong with a rocket launcher.
We shall see i guess.
It takes like 5 to 6 months to make a killer. Whatever happens with the re content, wether Trickster was succesfull or not will have nothing to do with it.
They are probably already working on the killer that will come 2 chapters from now
-
I actually don't run exhaustion perks. Information perks are so much more valuable for me.
If i had to choose probably Lithe. CJ tech into lithe is just so good vs non enduring killers. they often want to chase after you immediatly allowing you to loop wherever it was you ran too to then run back to the original pallet forcing them to essentally deal with it twice.
I play killer too so i refuse to use dead hard cause i absolutly hate it
-
I don't know fam. I've seen killers leave lobbies at lightning speed the second any form of character switcheroo's start happening.
It's actually impressive how fast they can be
-
I main Legion, all of them at the same time
I like the 1v4 playstyle more then the 1v1 playstyles most other killers have
I often swap between cosmetics and mix and match but this has to be my favorite
Such a fitting conclusion to their story, and i mean just look at Susie smiling back there
-
stretched res, you're doing it wrong.
On a serious note, yeah i often just alt tab and watch youtube with my mouse over the dbd program to see if they found a match. It all depends on the time here. Sometimes i have instant survivor queue's and minute long killer queue's and other times vica verca.
-
People often mix up being immersed and stealth.
Stealth is great in the right circumstances like when you are on death hook or to deny a killer their hook after being chased for a long time
Being immersed like you said is sitting in the corner doing nothing and that's what people hate.
Also don't stealth around when you haven't been hooked and other are on deathhook. not taking your hookstates drasticly reduces the amount of pressure the killer needs to win.
With 5 hooks there is a big difference between everyone hooked atleast once with one on deathhook and 1 dead and one on deathhook because the killer never found the other 2
When done right stealth is extremly good, but a lot of people don't really do it right
-
Make tier 3 more threatening and make tier 1 not a hinderance and he's good.
Thing is conceptual he is really good, the payoff just isn't there.
Tier 1 increase his movement speed to 110%. and let every hit drain a certain amount of evil of a character. so you can reach level 2 by stalking, hitting or a combination of both
In tier 3 everything should just be better. just a flat 20% or so bonus on action speed in addition to the lunge increase and exposed, make him an actual juggernaut
make it so you activate tier ups with the secondary killer action button so you don't need to do the awkward 99% stalk thing and you can choose to keep tier 1 if you want.
then some addon changes. The tombstone pieces i would change to remove tier 3, slightly decrease the rate you drain a target. and when a survivor is fully drained you can mori them. You know so people don't get insta gibbed because someone else decided to dance in front of him
Myers is a type of killer that is just plainly horrible now but could become quite decent with a few changes in the right places
-
Give survivors hit with deep wound the oblivious status effect untill mended.
Will force survivors to find a solid spot to mend and will make mending a smidge less boring cause they have to watch out for Legion now.
Reduce fatigue time by a half a second
Change all fatigue reducing addons to movement speed addons
Frank's mixtape changed to "legion will make no sound when they cancel their power"
Stab wound study: every hit in the same frenzy adds a stackable -25% deepwound timer. Meaning your 4th hit will down and end frenzys
M1 hits now restore legions power by a fraction
Came up with this on the fly so probably not well thought out changes.
Imo outside of a few qol changes they are fine. Not the best but viable to play against most red ranks
-
There actually situations where doctors can make it impossible to finish gens.
I think if it last longer then 20-30 minutes it falls into the category simular to survivors hiding when there are 2 left and can be seen as holding the game hostage.
Does probably require video evidence to show he didn't try to chase at all and such but yeah
-
As much as i loved old freddy, I don't think this will happen.
He was reworked because he was a joke in high ranks and (apperently) frustrating to deal with in lower ranks
Why would they use time, effort and money to go back to it when the current version is working adequite.
-
@APoipleTurtle said:
Make its main effect work outside of chase and you're looking at a semi-permanent TR reduction of 16m at 4 tokens. Combine that with M&A like Hoodied mentioned and now all killers with Terror radii of 24m or less are stealth killers who retain their original power.
Imagine trying to deal with a Hag, Deathslinger, or even Trickster who suddenly never have a terror radius halfway through the match. Or someone like Bubba, Oni, or Blight who've shaved their own TR's down to 8m. It'd be pretty crazy.
Maybe they could tweak Furtive Chase to simply remain active for 30 seconds after a chase ends? Kind of like an alternate form of Dark Devotion that must be built-up first, but could then be activated with any survivor instead of only the Obsession. It'd be great if it didn't lose tokens when the Obsession died too.
Yes but only after 4 hooks of a specific survivor. Yes it's strong but with all the work it took you is it really that powerfull?
It's 2 perks to eventually have no terror radius and forces you to play unefficient by having to hook every survivor seperatly instead of getting someone out of the game unless you run a 3th perk slot to switch the obsession some more.
2-3 perk slots that take time to become fully active and don't actually slow down the game untill you start getting the free hits doesn't sound that bad. yes it's strong but you are putting a lot of effort in it to make it strong.
-
I hope it's not lady D.
Outside of the meme's she's really nothing special. Would rather have one of the other lords then
And the duke as survivor. Pls i need this
-
Starstruck will stop any bodyblock attemps before they happen.
Mad grit if you still want them to try to bodyblock but to make it pointless
If you are talking about bodyblocking in chase concidder just hitting them, a 6 stack stbfl isn't that different from a 8 stack.
Forced penance will ensure they won't try it again for atleast 60+however long it takes for them to heal

Since its not in the game but should be makes it not cheating? It should be an add-on but its not and until it is it will be cheating.
It does not give you an advantage, anything you can do with a crosshair you can do without.
It makes it easier but that's not giving an advantage
Stretched res allows you to see over things you normally can't so that's cheating.
Added red glow brightness allows you to see it through some walls you normally wouldn't so that's cheating.
Technically swf comms allows you to know things you normally can't so that's cheating.
There is nothing that can be done more with a crosshair then without. that it's easier does not mean it's an advantage
-
It's not. A croshair is just a visual aid to where the center of your screen is. The center of your screen isn't hidden information.
You can't do more with a crosshair then without. It just makes it easier but it doesn't actually gives an advantage.
Unlike something like stretched res that allows you to see things that without it can't be seen. Which i would concidder cheating
-
Wether it's intentional or not, if you lose connection you are still ruining the game for 4 other people. If this happens enough that the bans begin to matter then you should take the hint and stop playing online games
Don't play an online only game if your internet can't handle it. I know it sucks i also had to stop playing for like a month because of internet issues. But that the rules.
The bans are handed out to those that disconnect. It doesn't matter how you disconnect

Good idea in theory, unreliable in practice imo
"Unreliable" in your scenario where all four survivors are scattered, yes. I can create a scenario where your suggested method is also unreliable. Hell, I don't even have to, it's a fact that the center gens are where the killer is if they have Corrupt Intervention, because that's how the perk works. At least with stealth, you're not trying to get yourself killed.
Bottom line, no method is perfect. And before you say you know this, you're literally shooting down ideas for not being perfect by pointing out minor flaws.
No method is perfect but some work better then others.
And imo i would much rather have my team actively working on the objective instead of hiding.
This isn't a minor flaw losing the early pressure survivors have is a huge deal. in most games 1-2 gens get done before the killer gets their hook pressure rolling. If you have zero or little progress on gens when the killer has already started their hook one, chase one and one has to unhook pressure the survivors are at a massive disadvantage.
Stealth is nice and all if it works but one disturbed crow, one teammate that doesn't follow the plan, one tracking perk or power of the killer that gets you and it all was a massive timewaster for the survivors. Also note that I don't mean to close your eyes and sprint like a chicken without a head to the nearest unblocked generator. Just to make your way to a workable generator that is safe instead of doing little to nothing. walking to a gen is not trying to get yourself killed.
even if best case scenario the killer doesn't find anyone setup killers like hag had free reign to lay down an entire web, trapper has the chance to collect all their traps. breakable walls that otherwise make loops chase enders turn them unsafe.
It all is circumstantial ofcourse but overal the downsides heavilly outweigh the upsides for me.
It's also worth noting that both strategy's heavilly require all survivors to be on the same wavelenght. If one survivor goes for gens while 3 hide then you give the killer free pressure for nothing and visa versa if 3 go for gens and 1 hides then not all survivors are progressing the game. And seeing how in my and OP experience more survivors do gens instead of hiding I will sooner look at making my way to the other gens then to wait it out.

All it takes is one survivor to get caught and suddenly killer are gaining pressure while you are hiding behind a rock not progressing your objective.
And when that happens, you go out and do gens. You adapt your strategy to the situation, because no strategy is "one size fits all".
Yes but then you have to move to the gen first while you could have already been on the gen.
And as i said if your solo you might not even know someone got caught. Someone could have had a bad spawn near the killer, run them around for 20 seconds, get hit and only then a solo would know the stealth plan isn't working out. That's a lot of chase time going to waste
Early game survivors are at their strongest and it's really risky to just bank that everyone remains hidden to lose that early game pressure survivors have
Ofcourse in a perfect world where all survivors are coordinated it's good if you can outstealth a corrupt but in my experience there are to many things that can make it fail to be worth it.
Good idea in theory, unreliable in practice imo
-
Bad idea.
All it takes is one survivor to get caught and suddenly killer are gaining pressure while you are hiding behind a rock not progressing your objective.
This might work in a 4 man swf that can coordinate this but in solo you really can't trust that everybody remains hidden.
Double as bad in solo as you don't even know if your teammates are getting chased.
Also if it's a setup killer you're allowing them to set up for free
Stealthing out the corrupt is a good idea in theory but a horrible one in practice
Just work on the center gens first. Something you should do anyway as a survivor
-
Would love this. I absolutly adore the trickster trailer

Stopping Survivors from doing their objective is literally what the Killer's job is. You do know that, right? It is on the Survivors to finish gens and take the risks that entails, or die. They need a hard timer to force them to not stealth around doing nothing all game.
No, killing survivors is what the killers job is. That's why the game isn't over when the final generator is done.
Preventing them from doing their objective is one way to buy time to do yours but killers shouldn't be able to win just by defending generators.
Anyone that even cares slightly for both sides can see that allowing killers to kill everybody by just defending gens and never commiting to a chase would be boring as hell.
Now i would agree that afk crows were updated so it tells the killer where survivors are hiding if they haven't touched any gens for a long time
But a timer that kills survivors when the game last long enough is in every single way a horrible idea.
There are setups with doctor that make it impossible to complete gens. Do you really want there to be games where a doctor stands in the middle of a 3 gen and just wins by default after 20 minutes
