Ok let's see where shall I begin......humm ok from the top then.
Trapper will be lucky to get enough traps down with the current GenRush mindset that's out right now, but yes if you trap someone that ignores Overcome for that hit.
Yes Billy and Bubba are instant down Killers but good loopers and the oh so nice hit boxes of killers will make connecting hard for said instant downs. I rarely get hit by the chainsaws unless I make a silly or stupid mistake in my escape plan. Which then leaves them with the option of weapon hits.
Myers I'll give that to you but a good Myers player is hard to deal with anyway.
Ghostface is just sad.....very Sad.....a survivor that gets a full exposed status from him deserves to get hooked.
Oni still has to get a weapon hit before he can get his instant down and then it's back to the Billy and Bubba response.
Now Addons you won't always have and if your going for a certain build and not put said addons in then those addons are useless.
Any perk is useless of a Killer is lame enough to tunnel off hook, but not all killers are like that.
Nurse, Blight, Wraith, and Spirit is who I was talking about in the handful and why did you even bring Legion into this that poor Killer has been beat down so badly he just wishes he was a good killer. But Billy can be added here because he can quickly make up ground with his chainsaw.
Devour hope won't last long enough to be a issue like all Hexs, any survivor that sticks around the killer while Star Struck is active deserves to be downed anyway, same goes for NOED, if the survivors dont want to do bones anymore that's their problem. Haven't seen anyone run MyC for a while but again if a survivor run BT the one who is unhooked will body block like normal.
So yes when I talk about Game Balance I know what I'm talking about because I have seen the counters and know them like everyone else.
Only the handful I mentioned can actually keep up with a Overcome player.
If you get trapped by trapper and put in the basement you also aren't overcoming over any traps.
If a billy and bubba can't connect chainsaws they are doomed to lose no matter the perks the survivors run.
Oni doesn't need to get a down for his ability so you don't need to catch the same survivor again.
That it's lame doesn't take away that tunneling of hook makes this perk useless. Not all killers are like that but survivors are not going to take that gamble. Sprint burst and dead hard work of hook. Why bet on having a nice killer or not if you don't have to.
Legions biggest problem is downing people and dead hard is a huge part of it. Legion can easilly keep up with overcome. That they are low tier doesn't change the fact that overcome is bassicly a dead perk vs them.
Forgot to mention plague too in my first post. Also completly circumvents the perk unless you give her one of the strongest ranged attacks.
The tunnel of hook is the biggest thing that will make overcome dissapear in a couple of weeks. That it's lame doesn't mean that it doesn't happen and survivors are not going to take that risk.
There are just to many situations where this perk just straight up becomes dead.

try playing addonless nurse vs survivor who really knows how to shift + W, then come and talk
If you are needlessly handicapping yourself by running no addons you lose all your right to complain.
If you are struggling with nurse and it isn't an issue with her bugs then it's an issue with you

the point of third health state is for you to survive longer, overcome does the exact same thing and sometimes even better
in the example that this guy gave, overcome is clearly better
nurse already can't catch up to survivors quick enough without cooldown addons if they shift + W from her in straight direction after getting hit
It takes a single extra blink to catch back up
And then there is no dead hard to worry about. Tunnel that survivor of hook and there is nothing to worry about either.
If you run starstruck then you can deny it completly.
Not only is it not meta. It's straight up not good.
Very close to the worst exhaustion perk

Like you. Your so blind that you can't see what perks Like Overcome does to the balance, what's left of it that is, of the game. Only a very select few killers can actually catch survivors now who run Overcome. They get hit zoom away and hide in a Boon field and heal back.
And survivors wonder why their Que times are increasing........
Trapper, Billy, Bubba, Myers, Ghostface and Oni by base can make the perk never activate at all.
Add addons and you can practically double that list.
Nurse, Blight, Legion, Wraith and to an extend Spirit have movement abilities by base that make short work of the distance it creates.
Every killer can ensure Overcome only activates once if they tunnel of hook
Starstruck, MyC, Noed, Devour Hope are perks that completly circumvent the perk.
You really shouldn't talk about being blind to balance if you are saying "only a handfull of killers can deal with it" and choose to ignore the immens downsides this perk has.
It's Smash Hit tier. Good for distance if it manages to work but straight up useless in some matchups
-
@Feyd said:
Not necessarily. I just had an Artist with the perk. My gen exploded and I dodged the crows, so she never came over, assuming I had left.
If you dodged the crows it means you didn't instantly hop back on the gen like i suggest to do here.
I'm not saying abandoning the gen. Just make sure the killer isn't heading right your way first and giving them a pop that could have easilly been denied
-
If you seriously think an exhaustion perk that's a dead perk vs any kind of insta down and barelly does anything vs any kind of mobility power then i don't know what to tell you.
Vs a nurse they have to spend a single extra blink to catch up. In trade they don't have to worry about dead hard AND they know you have nothing after being unhooked.
Especially a starstruck nurse will laugh at overcome
-
@vacaman said:
I thought Overcome would be op but actually i found it a bit underwhelming. 2 seconds of extra speed isn't as much as i thought even with the right build, i prefer sprintburst and DH.
Not to mention it's a dead perk vs insta downers and does nothing when tunneled of hook.
Not only isn't it op. It's just bad
-
I do wonder how many times so far have you run into a insta down killer or got tunneled of hook where overcome is a dead perk?
-
Boon: Exponential
Extremly situational. The boon has to be up, you need to go down in the area but outside of the hearing range of the killer and you have to be slugged. Good for youtube montages with Tenacity, flip flop and power struggle but overall it's better to stick with unbreakable
Corrective Action
Perk for playing with a new player. Not bad in that regard but obviously obsolete after a couple of hours
Overcome
Most overrated perk i have ever seen in the game. If you ever want to know why the devs don't listen to the community you just look at the reactions of this perk. Absolutly mindboggling how people think an exhaustion perk that gets completly denied by insta down killers or does nothing when you are tunneled of hook is s-tier.
It's about as good as smash hit. Okay in the picture perfect scenario, absolutly useless in the worst
Grim Embrace
I like the idea of it. Nothing really crazy thought but you can't go wrong with it. Important to note that it does not matter in wich order you hook the survivors. Idially you still want to remove a player before this triggers but you can often make it trigger right when the last gen is going to pop and the pressure it gives is pretty good
Scourge Hook: Pain
Really good. The worst case scenario of having bad hook rng happens a lot less then i thought it would, so far atleast. Survivors really need to learn to stop working on the gen that it triggers on though. Has an obsurd synergy with pop for the sole reason of survivors not playing smart right now.
Resonance Hex: Pentimento
Really good but needs a build around it. On it's own it does nothing. Throw in a couple of other hexes and you can get a ball rolling. This and Thrill are best friends as thrill makes the worst case scenario of your hexes being booned obsolete with it taking near to a minute to do so
Overal there isn't a single killer perk i don't like. They are all either strong or fun or both. On the other hand there isn't a single survivor perk i like. All extremly situational and overcome's praise causes me headaches
-
Glad you are enjoying it.
Personally I think it's terrible so you won't hear complaints from me.
-
Did you actually have 6 attacks?
I like coup so i'd be happy with a shadow buff/bug
-
Hoping Chucky but if I'm not mistaken the next killer is going to be original.
So something fire related or a bug-human hybrid
-
Thanks, fixed it.
Still prefer D'Vorah
-
I'm still at work, the update is going to take 2 hours and i will need to validate my files again for another hour or the game crashes instantly
Have some patience dangit
Edit: spelling

30% less gen speed is bad? 24 secs more doing gens for every surv? It could be 120secs.
It's 34 seconds longer
It's a total of (80/0.7) 114 seconds with the 30% slowdown
-
Haven't had a chance to play yet but atleast the design department did an excellent job again
-
Give me 50% of the profits
You can keep the other 2 wishes
-
Yup
Don't know if this was a shadownerf or it just always was like this but (atleast last time i checked) it took 28 seconds to bless a hex
-
@Labrac said:

You need to pair it with perks that force survivors to cleanse totems, aka other hexes. Blessing a hex takes 24 seconds so it's a time most survivors don't want to spend.
Fun fact, it's actually 28 seconds (56 with thrill)
The wiki is a dirty liar
-
Devs were just as disgusted about the nft scandal they decide to butcher him out of protest
-
Another reason it's bad is that the obsession is immune to the slowdown and it wants you to chase non obsession to get stacks.
So most of the time only 2 people are really affected by the slowdown.
-
@Thunderfrog said:

How? Pentimento seems to be useless against boons, because the totems have to be broken.
Thrill makes blessing a boon take 56 uninterupted seconds.
If they still want to bless the hexes the slowdown i get from it will be so much higher then pentimento could ever give me.
The only downside to this build is thrill being found first. But you could just as well forget plaything and bring undying and ruin instead to reduce the risk of that happening

I respectfully disagree

Thrill pentimento and hex:plaything is going to be such a middle finger to boons

Boons will probably be looked at next midchapter. They usually look at dlc the midchapter after the following chapter.
It's honestly surprising Pinhead was tweaked this patch

I didn't watch a TON of videos on her, but the change from the injury to resetting the swarm seems big? Or is it not that big a deal?
It is big but i think most reasonable people realise that was a boring way to use her power.
It's a fair change. The important part here is that they didn't change what was fun about her

Head on will always be worst.
Hence close to but even then.
Atleast with head on you can jump in a locker after being unhooked and maybe stun the killer if he thinks to long about eating the ds or not.
Overcome does nothing

Funny, I thought holding run and forward and pre-dropping pallets was the thing that didn't require thinking. Interesting
Let's be honest, nothing dbd players do require thinking if you believe everything on here
-
They shouldn't but i don't see how they could fix that without spending way to much time on it.
All radiusses work on multiple floors. Terror radius, aura readonv like bond, docs shock, etc...
They would have to make something entirelly new just for boons
-
Would be a nightmare to rebalance.
Also wouldn't really solve the issue. The gamr is only survivor sided at the top. Top survivor players would still destroy most killers even if they had 5 perks as the issue doesn't lie with how strong the killer is but the amount of stuff survivors can get away with.
This change would just make the gameplay of 95% of the players harder while the top 5% who you were trying to target isn't really going to care
-
Overcome won't be a problem
Legion gets his full duration of feral frenzy when he injures them. The 4 extra meters they make will be regained in seconds.
Myers in tier 3 can make overcome never trigger at all.
Almost half the roster can completly deny or severly reduce the effectiveness of the perk.
And even if you play a killer who can't. I would gladly chase the 8 extra seconds knowing fully well they don't have dead hard and i can tunnel without a care in the world cause overcome does nothing when they are unhooked.
To see how good a perk is you don't only look at the best case scenario but also concider the worst. The community is really bad at this.
Not only is it not going to be a problem, it's close to the worst exhaustion perk in the game.
-
They are getting tweaks next midchapter so maybe some glitch causes the chase music to be their new one
-
Fanatic could be a real cool killer actually. Putting survivors on pyres instead of hooks

Be part of the solution.

It's boring. It takes forever to upgrade your stuff to the point where it feels like progress can be made, and a single run of bad luck can set you back a solid 5 hours.
At least DBD never takes AWAY your BP and perks unless you prestige.
Eh it's not that bad. Antiquarian and a early bank pretty much solves most money issues as long as you don't mess up too bad

Yeah. I just can't really believe corrective action, it's so unbelievably niche. Boon : Exponential is overrated atm imo. Overcome will be good i think but i don't think i would enjoy using it.
Corrective action is okay. It's there for people who are introducing new players to the game. Only gripe with it is that it really shouldn't be behind a paywall
Boon: Exponential is incredebilly situational. You have to have the boon totem up. The killer actually needs to slug you, you need to be in the radius of the boon but outside of the radius where the killer hears it. You're better of just sticking with unbreakable.
Overcome imo is close to the worst exhaustion perk in the game. It blows my mind how people think an exhaustion perk that can be completly denied by any form of instant down, extremly reduced in effectiveness by any kind of movement ability and does absolutly nothing when you are chased off hooked not only is good. But is going to be stronger then perks like dead hard.
I know the community don't have a good track record judging survivor perks but that one takes the cake
-
Excitted to see the patch notes to see what changed.
Probably not going to get the killer right away though.
And i might skip the survivor entirelly.
All of his perks are pretty bad
-
It just needs an other requirement.
Being injured just isn't a good requirement as the killer most of the time wants to injure you.
You don't need to plan for this. It's bound to happen. And if it doesn't it 9/10 times doesn't matter you couldn't use dead hard as you never took damage.
Even something simple as making it so it only activates when you enter the injured state and upon use deactivates. Then atleast you have to spend time healing up again or eventually go down and get picked up or unhooked.
That survivors can just stay injured and use it as a 40 seconds regenerating healthstate is my biggest gripe with it
-
I have not played demo dog since he left despite owning the dlc
-
Trapper, Trickster and Legion are my go to killers
-
Blight Legion.
Just a fitting end for the fearsome four.
Forever controled by Frank
-
Pretty sure i'd find a way that both of us lose

Because it strengthens an extremely strong style of play.
Get hit off of hook with BT? Congrats, you can sprint anywhere you want. First hit in a chase in a dead zone? No worries, you can make it to any tile.
Maybe it won't be good at low-mid MMR, but it seems absurdly strong at high MMR.
But that strong style of play doesn't need any help. It's already good enough to reach any safe place on the map.
Why give up other exhaustion perks to make something that already doing a good job slightly better.
And again. Any insta down and it does nothing. Getting chased of hook equally nothing.
Killer just waits 12 seconds and not even bt saves you
Situational perks like ds are good cause if you didn't use it it means the killer player didn't use a strong tactic. You still won in that scenario.
Your exhaustion perk being straight up denied or unusable seems just straight up bad for me.

Fine I'll say it I'll be the elephant in the room tunneling and gen rushing both aren't aren't thing
Think about it for a second in what other game are you called out and talked down on for completing your objective as quickly as possible? The answer is none
Both aren't a thing but the maps do need to be fixed there ######### massive
Tunneling and genrushing isn't a complained that objectives are being done.
It's a complaint of how fast they are able to be done. There is a difference.
Not to mention tons of games have this. "Zerg Rushes" in rts's constantly get complained about. Difference is that in most rts games there is ample counterplay to this rush the objective strategy. In DbD not so much
-
I love how they kept saying you where at "pisslow" mmr
If they were matched with you what does that say about them?
-
Movement speed is a very dangerous thing to tinker with in a game that's all about chases and how fast those involved can close/increase distances.
Look at how big a difference 110 and 115 killers are.
With survivors running at 4 meters per second, 110 walk at 4.4 m/s and 115 at 4.6 m/s
That means 110 catches up at a rate of 0.4 m/s and 115 at 0.6 m/s. That's 50% faster. If you would up the movement speed to 120 then they would catch up at 0.8 m/s which is 33% faster then what 115 killers do now.
Those are pretty drastic changes

You get way more distance out of overcome than you do with both sprint burst and dead hard. The killer has to wipe off their weapon while you speed of for and extra few seconds almost guaranteed to end the chase and give you a good chance to hide.
The first chase against a pure m1 killer with no ability maybe.
If your unhooked and the killlers goes after you without giving you breathing room it does nothing. This also isn't a perk like Decisive or Unbreakable were it not doing anything means you didn't get tunneled or slugged. This is your exhaustion perk we are talking about. Something pretty much agreed is a handicap if you don't have it.
And while killers are struggling they aren't quite m1 without abilities yet
Killers with insta down or other ways to bypass injuring like Ghostface,Myers,Billy,Bubba, Oni, Plague and even Trapper can make it never activate at all. That's base, count addons and perks and the list almost doubles
Killers with movement speed abilities like Wraith, Nurse, Spirit, Legion and Blight can severely reduce the amount of time lost cause of the distance. And again then your stuck without a panic button like dead hard. Legion and Plague especially will have the time of their lives if people keep spending time or give you powerfull abilities to get this perk back online
I've listed almost half the roster here. Most of which are the higher tier killers you see. Why run Overcome that might be slightly better vs a clown but can be completelly denied by insta downers or severely reduced in effectiveness against movement enhanced killers if you can run dead hard that's good against everyone?
The 8 or so seconds of distance is not worth having nothing when you are most vulnerable and especially if you never get the distance at all.
-

I can't wait for overcome to come out because a ok amount of people will swap from dead hard.
For about a week. If even that.
2 games of getting tunneled of hook realising they are defenceless is all it will take for survivors to go back to actual usefull perks.
There is always a survivor perk each chapter that get's talked about how overpowered it will be. Most of the time it is powerfull but outshined by the meta.
This time though. It really doesn't make any sense.
Overcome is just... bad. I think it's close to the worst exhaustion perk in the game. It's really mindboggling to me how people think it's going to beat dead hard.

In order for them to announce the bloodhunt before the VHS beta (which would be well in advance, to a slightly weird degree), they'd have to know about that beta before we did, surely?
Unless I'm missing something and the beta was announced earlier than it opened, in which case it still seems like a stretch but would technically be a possibility.
These kind of people probably believe BHVR has hired spies to snoop on other simular games to ensure they don't get to powerfull.
I can understand disliking the game. I can understand that someone has burned out on the game.
But "loving" the idea that BHVR is scared cause of the release of a closed beta of (yet) another assy horror is just ... sad
I want VHS to succeed cause it has some real interresting ideas and looks fun. People like OP only want it to succeed so it can kill of DbD (which it won't, that's not how competition works) cause they dislike it and for some reason took it personally.
Being so hatefull can't be good for someone's mental health. They really just need to let it go.
