The lights out was public. So 2v8 is a customs modifier. Then why do they need to disable killers?
Adding to what @GentlemanFridge said, the devs stated that they will add more killers in future iterations of this mode. The order in which these are added, and the possibility of some taking years is what the tierlist revolves around mostly.

well locking them out forever should not be considered, my friend for example is a legion main. He'll still play but not seeing legion is alredy a bumper.
Dude we are going in circles. I don't want killers removed, I fear mostly that they will take A LOT of time to implement or they will cause really long queues.
As said before we should wait for the reveal of survivor classes before coming to conclusions.👍️

Will the 2v8 be custom only?
In the stream it was shown that it will be the first iteration, and will be time limited (from the release of the next licenced survivor and ending on the release of the Castlevania chapter)

well if lights out has shown anything then that majority of people got used too much on windows of opportunity. And if the devs say they want to make a casual mode then they have to go 100% with it, this means no nerfs or buffs for comp matters.
If we need balance in this alternate gamemode, then sure have some killer "groups" and lock some out that would be way too bad for each other. Like have legion and plague be in two diffrent groups. But completely locking out single killers is the wrong approach. It should be that every killer joins 2v8 time after time.I think we should wait to see how survivor classes tackle this problem, by no means would I want killer groups locked, just would hate to have insane queues.
Also plague and legion would be effective with OTHER killers that benefact from survivors remaining injured, not with each other since they have the same counterplay.

@Mr_K said:
Where's the Kill With Friends option?
If you mean custom games, I doubt anyone would have a problem with it?
-
@Jim_Tonic said:
If we can take the devs for their word then their main concern with this mode is not competetiveness, it should be a Party "fun mode".
So i dont see why any killer would be locked out, if they decide to get all of em in.I mean if a really obnoxious strategy forms it could drive those casual players away. Think of plague and twins for example. Imagine a casual player searching guides on how to deal with those killers and the find out their counterplay is the oposite of each other, we would have another lights out scenario, 5 min queues for a side and 10 second queues for the other.

I was under the impression there were no add-ons for killers? Supplemented instead by their unique team abilities? Trying to balance add-ons in this mode sounds a nightmare.
But yeah, it would be tricky regardless... I suppose there would need to be some kind of mechanism built into the mode that could limit killer effectiveness if certain combos got too much 🤔
There is no mention of addons in the anniversary stream, but would make more sense if so. Devs probably though of tombstone Deathslinger and made a choice.
-
@UndeddJester said:
I think the fact Survivors have classes gives some potential to work around the issues here.
For example Plague might be a problem because of the ability to injure passively with disease, but the healer class may have a mechanism to counter it.
Legion is an issue cause of his ability to chain easily to get his 4 stacks, but there may well be a class that has some kind of adfitional stun or protection hit bonus to limit him somewhat (especially as flashlight saves aren't a thing).
I'll be interesting to see what classes BHVR have in mind.
Maybe could work with legion, but plague has her own game when it comes to healing. Also take into account that legion makes you mend, so they would have to tackle that also. (These two would be a problem for example)

at this piont bhvr really needs to involve the @GeneralV in the rework of freddy. he is THE freddy main everyone that is longer then a week in the forum knows
Jokes aside, he's been the only killer that has had his power straight up removed from the game, only because the community didn't know how to play a macro heavy killer.
-
The problem is that the devs are really slow at patching out miserable metas, like the 2022-2023 eruption-call of brine-overcharge was miserable to play against and as, and tanked the survivor playerbase HARD.
-
Freddy needs to go back to being an actual interesting killer and not a bad amalgamation of other killer powers.
@GeneralV 's rework idea's the best in my opinion.
Dredge and Knight are just as sluggish as twins.
-
Basic killer movement is unaffected… However weather or not a killer power is affected by ping is up to you to find out.
Examples of killers that are negatively affected by ping:
Blight
Nurse
Bubba
Plague
Ghostface
Nemesis
Examples of killers that are positively affected by ping:
Wesker
Demogorgon
I am experimenting and researching, maybe I could make a tierlist based on how they are affected!
-
-
Power is really fun to play against but him being so good at camping pisses me off. Most bubbas I go against try to camp and lose with a 3 man out, but the ones that use their power constantly are scary good.
-
Just prerun when you hear the terror radious to a strong window setup, she doesn't have a power unless she uses her pools, and unlike legion can't punish you for sticking close to other survivors.
-
5v5 because I hope that if people are forced to play with the opposite role we end up with much less "us vs them" mentality
-
A yes, the guy who's chase power is outclassed by skull merchant and clown, mobility outclassed by half the cast and stealth so bad that survivors don't attempt to get rid of it, even if it the price for it is barely a bit of slowdown… shouldn't get buffed?

I have had it at the start of the match, middle end, and the only pattern is that there can only be one survivor revealed at a time.
Never mind, had 2 surivors revealed at the same time…

There is an exploit going on where people equip whatever killer they feel like… The fun we are missing…

I would probably say working with the opposite team to gain an advantage would cover it tbh.
The advantage is you actually don't have to play the game in order farm BP. The most efficient way is collaboration with the opposite side.
I honestly don't care if people want to do this if it's something that won't end up penalising the community i.e they decide to remove bonus BP because people are abusing it.
Do you know of anyone in the history of this game getting banned for it? I mean, with how many subtle cheaters and the overall harassment in endgame chat, I'm pretty sure support would prefer shifting their attention to these more important reports.
-
Here, it's isn't against the rules because they arent griefing anybody in particular:

Dude have you seen the grind that the game puts in your shoulders? I mean if anything it's impressive that they manage to find themselves in the same match, however I doubt it is against the TOS, I have never seen anyone banned for farming check it in the rules.

Gravital from All Tomorrows
4.6 m/s 40m TR
Power: Latest stage of evolution
Increase or Decrease gravity around yourself while pressing right click. (16m around it, 3 m/s speed while doing so)
Lower Gravity: Pallets drop slower and break slower, Vaults are slower and falling is slower.
Higher Gravity: Pallets drop faster and break faster, vaults are faster and falling is faster, losing a health state if staggering.
Press CTRL to change the axis of your gravity, floating over at 2.70 m/s to the direction you are looking at.

We went from FOMO event to FOMO event, except this one has worse bp gains that the base game and a slightly interesting lunge mechanic.

Seems weak to me. Easy to dodge, easy to remove the debuff. Predictable teleports. Super loopable on circular objects like rocks, good on block shaped loops like gyms. I’ve watched the videos of people claiming he’s good and it’s usually just survivors playing bad making him look good. I think he needs some good buffs. His design also leads him to be one of those killers like singularity where he’s rarely going to be seen post this recent launch.
On circular loops look up for walls to bounce projectile of, or even use the pallet as said wall. Also, recommend using milk carton before judging his strength

It'll be killswitched as soon as you reopen the game.
I never closed the game to begin with lmao
-
Bubba with chill + beast marks. His power is a joke without these.
Myers with TOMBSTONE. Goes from f tier to A tier with a single addon, there is not a single killer who has such a big powerspike with an addon, but a the same time is dogshit without said addon.
-
KIllswithed, you sure? I can still run it, although I wont to not cancel the bp offerings
-
same happened with the bbq event.
aparently intentional
-
Winstreaks are proof that matchmaking doesn't work.
If you watch all 3 of these players VODs you will see that the majority of their matches were noobstomping, rarely getting the opposite side on their level, much less as stacked against them.
I mean, are you really skilled for stomping thousands of noobs misplaced by the mmr to make queues shorter?
-
So you have around 5 maps where you cant use your power until survivors break the pallet, making doctor's calm addons objectively better...
Man freddy might as well dereleased lmao
-
Scamper being stronger than slice and dice makes him kinda pointless compared to wesker. The removal of 180s made the issue worse, and the insanely long cooldown can make you feel powerless.
No real skill ceiling because of scamper overshadowing slice and dice.

The Entity has been depicted as some type of creature which doesn't fully understand how the real world is set, and the maps are born from mixed memories mostly. Even licensed maps such as Midwich or RCPD are corrupted with stuff there, not linked to the original counterpart (gore heaped in mountaons on tables around Midwich, for example).
That's why the order isn't apparent, as the maps are a type of "dream logic", conveniently constructed for the trials and not a copy of the real thing.
There are exceptions. Dead Dawg is barely changed by the entity, with only the exit gates being the only "dream logic" that doesn't make sense. Same with the swamp maps.
Of course, there are also others that are fully filled with entity dream logic, azarov being filled with a stupid amount of dead bodies, rpd and midwith having a lot of "entity mist" and so on.

It will become the most used survivor perk inevitably, when people realize it's one of the last forms of skill expression left from the survivor side.
It's also insanely good with mft and I'm surprised people don't run both perks together.
-
My friends quitted, with only one of them left and we rarely play because the end result's the same always. I know you cant fix bad teamates, but at least ds gave bad survivors a little more of a chance, which I suspect was the reason I had more fun before the 6.1.0 patch. There's also not that much new content to be excited about from the survivor role unlike the killer role.
-
Survivors have 16 perks, compared to the killer having 4, so the killer's perks are 4 times better to compensate. I don't even get what would be the point of an extra perk.

The thing about Haddonfield is that they managed to make a Map which is too safe and too unsafe at the same time. If you are in one of the houses, you are quite safe as Survivor, the Houses are very strong. If you are outside of the houses, there is not much you can do.
And this is why Survivors in general run to the houses, because this is where you can loop. The outside Loops are not really good to use.
"Also the breakable walls in the game are some of the only breakable walls that aren't "break this inmediatly" or "never break this" and they actually take thought before interacting with them, similar to those in midwitch."
I would disagree. There is not really any scenario where you want to break a Breakable Wall on The Game, because almost all the time you grant the Survivors access to a strong Pallet without having to complete the Gen in that area. I mean, you can break them if you really, really, really need to get on the other side of the wall, but in general, it is not worth it most of the time and will only hinder you.
Yes, you are right about the unsafe and safe at the same time, that's the main complain and why it's being looked at.
Also, the breakable walls are very good for movement killers like blight, demo, wesker billy and such, also good for ranged killers to interrupt a survivor holding w, and stealth killers can use it to come from unexpected angles. If you don't break it they cant hold w but you lack the extra mobility.

This would be quite a bad change. Do we need more maps with Deadzones?
The thing about The Game is that it is not even a survivor-sided map. It is just an easy map to play as Survivor, because you only have one gameplay - loop around safe Pallets. You dont need to do much for it.
And therefore, Pallets cannot really be removed, because The Game does not have anything else except for Pallets. There are like 3 Windows on it which are useable and thats it. Once a Pallet is gone, the zone around it is a Deadzone.
@Topic:
In short term, the breakable Walls should be removed and the Pallets to compensate for them as well. Because some Pallets just got added because others are Deadends until the Gen next to it is done. Long-term, more Windows and unsafe Pallets should be added, with safe Pallets being removed. So that the Map has more to work with than just Pallets and there is more gameplay around them then just running around the Pallets and drop/kick them.
Do you think the original haddonfield could be balanced by just removing the overpowered houses? No, because it was too small of a map. I mean if the haddonfield rework was a bad rework because of the amount of deadzones is a critisism to the rework, and luckily it's being revisited soon.
Also the breakable walls in the game are some of the only breakable walls that aren't "break this inmediatly" or "never break this" and they actually take thought before interacting with them, similar to those in midwitch.
I agree that it isn't survivor sided, but it is just a really problematic map, making weaker killers weaker and stronger killers stronger.

It will probably be a rework, changing it too drastically to be considered a nerf or buff. Evidence for this is the wesker bug that they havent patched in months. Same thing happened with c33 and they completly reworked it.

Oh! That does make more sense. :P
Sadly though, I can see why it would be hard for to you find that as well, I'm not sure there was much of it. It's pretty hard to play any killer except the new one when a PTB launches, for one thing. Add that a lot of other killers besides Pig got changes too and I don't think many people got around to trying out the new ambush changes on her.
I guess I'll have to be patient, thanks for the answer and trivia btw!
-
They should give it the Haddonfield treatment and make the map bigger before removing some of the pallets. Old the game had the exact opposite issue.

Poker Face = When you jumped vault or pallet quickly, killer's aura will be revealed you for 5 seconds. 30 seconds cooldown after that.
I think it would kind of suck because there are way better chase perks that to more than " aura reading when most convenient" it would also be wasted easily on low loops where you can see the killer.
