great post, love seeing the connections between all the characters in DBD. but now you have to find out who Pauline Stamper is lol

Best bet would be either she's related to Tome Haddie's Otto Stamper or She's from a third terra altogether.

  • My point was that even if you don't find something scary, that doesn't mean it's not horror or that it's lost it's horror vibe because horror is subjective and comes in alot of different ways, shapes and forms as it isn't restricted to just that of conventional horror, Trickster not being scary does not make him non-horror.

Also the whole "something isn't scary, therefore it's not horror" or "This game isn't scary, therefore it's not a horror game anymore" arguments are both incredibly flawed ones because then nothing is really horror because there's always going to be people that aren't afraid of something or find something more spooky over other things regardless of if it's something that conventionally suppose to be scary or not.

  • Jeff will most likely be featured in the official legion comic in a speaking role with Frank.

Tricksters lore is very good. Some of the best in the game. But he doesnt look intimidating. Artist looks hot. Thats it. She doesnt look intimidating either. And skull merchant just looks stupid.

Trickster not looking scary is kinda the point of his character.

He's not suppose to look scary because his horror stems from him being normal on the outside but twisted and fcked up on the inside, when he drops the facade of normality and start showing his true colors.

He's basically the Terry Simmons/Norman Bates/Patrick Bateman of Dead by Daylight.

  • Alot of the new chase music has been pretty decent, hopefully the last few original killers left with default chase music gets some custom music soon.

this is not true at all, Ghost Face is licensed too and received the chase music 1 year ago

Ghostface is half original and half licensed, so that makes him the exception.

The hitboxes are jank for sure. Especially compared to say deathslinger. I think the thing is though in the open survivors can attempt dodges, but it will not always work since it means predictions for both sides. A huntress is not just going to ready one and immediately throw, she can hold it making it faster and then predict where a survivor might dodge to or if they will just run straight etc.

The issue with artist is yes you can do a bird placement to zone a little bit. But think if you are just out in the open, a survivor is not just going to run straight, if they hear/see you put up a bird they will just turn. Legit the best play as an artist is to just wait and put up birds blocking off loops. You cannot loop artist but you can loop a huntress, and that is one of the big differences between them and as a survivor I want to be able to actually loop the killer, and if an artist just birds up a loop I have no choice but to hold W which is the most unfun part of the game.

Thing is, you don't use Artist's power the same way you use Huntress' power during chase, both have range yes but they work very differently and one has more than one way to be utilized than the other.

As someone who is fairly skilled with Artist, using an Artist's power out in the open like you would with a Huntress' hatchet is gonna have a higher chance of missing, that's why you gotta use her birds more strategic than that.

While playing against an Artist, having to think ahead and frantically search for another loop to quickly use before having to move on is where the fun as a Survivor is for me, because you're always on your feet and need to think 2 steps ahead of the Artist when they know what they're doing.

Also i am only speaking for myself on this, but looping around the same spot for too long can be just as unfun as only holding W.

Yeah, because my definition of fun is not the same as yours, crazy i know.

Fair, but a good artist you just do the same gameplay loop, she blocks the loop you either get hit or run to the next one, repeat. Huntress you can try to dodge and predict which creates just a far better gameplay loop and you can use hatches out in the open when chasing, whethers artist you really cant use birds like that since a survivor who has a brain is just going to move out the way.

Except a good Artist can very much use her birds during chase to her advantage since that comes down to strategy and prediction from the killer's side, while simultaneously from the Survivors side, it's about outsmarting her bird placement and not allow her to gain a foothold over the chase or at loops, for me that's alot more engaging in gameplay than that of Huntress.

Also same can be said for Huntress, a Survivor with a brain will just dodge a Huntress Hatchet without issues and render her hatchets useless at a loop because the hatchet hitbox is so thick it cannot be shot over the environment or the props you're looping around, i don't consider that a far better gameplay loop, especially not when you get those moments where a hatchet hits you even though the hatchet was way off from your Survivor model's hitbox.

But artist just blocks off loops with birds, huntress you can at least dodge...

Which is why you don't hang around a tile for too long and move on to the next tile before she gets the chance to lock a loop down.

I personally find it more rewarding to outplay an Artist exactly because she can use her crows tactically like that, compared to that of trying to dodge Huntress' hatchets that has a hitbox with the size of a truck.

  • Because of leakers whom i feel nothing but scorn and disdain towards, bringing back the Stranger Things dlc will just give them an excuse to stroke their egos and go all ''Look, Stranger Things returned just like we told you it would, we were right all along!''

  • These are just off the top of my head alone.

  • Nurse's tome did not retcon her original lore.

Ghostface's original chase music was better than his current one.

Wesker's chase music is as overrated as himself.

Skull Merchant's chase music is pretty alright.

Wesker and Legion's chase music does not fit as chase music.

Deathslinger's chase music is too long and should be reduce in length.

DBD do not need complex gameplay or mechanics, it's simplicity is one of it's strengths as it allows anyone to quickly pick it up and jump in.

Pre-rework MacMillan color tint was awful to look at.

An operation health patch wouldn't do much for this game other than maybe allow for a few extra features like replay to be supported.

Old Hillbilly was the third most unfun killer to face next to Blight and Wesker, his rework made him at least a bit more tolerable to face.

I hope old dbd stays buried and gone for good, the sooner we get rid of or rework all remaining elements from old dbd, the better.

Bhvr should never have gone for last generation consoles and instead just waited for the next one before releasing dbd on consoles altogether.

Trickster has more horror to him than half of the killer roster does.

I hope Stranger Things never returns.

Popular content creators should not have any more say over the game's balance than anyone else no matter what.

Core dbd should stay as far away from mobile dbd's cosmetics as possible.

Competitive mode and casual mode would be a waste of time and resources.

Meg's deathgarden mask should never have been given out to the public after the game died.

Rift charms should have their own place in the store.

Charms should have some minor but cool effects to them when equipped, just like the masquerade invitation Effect that floats around your character's body when collected.

Artist is way more fun to play as and against than Huntress.

  • Except they did change how adept works a few updates ago?

Double Pippin' no longer matters for it, now you only have to kill all 4 Survivors with a Killer's 3 unique perks now to get that killer's adept since they changed how merciless killer and all the other killer score titles are achieved.

    Now it's like this.

    0 = The Entity Hungers

    1 / 2 = Brutal Killer

    3 = Ruthless Killer

    4 = Merciless Killer

  • Cote did reach out to netflix in the past to bring it back more than once, all he was met with was silence from them.

  • I fully expect it to be a cosmetic crossover only.

  • Just need the last 3 Survivors from the franchise and then we'll have all of them, we obviously don't need another Francis skin since Jake already have one.

The rest i don't want into dbd with maybe the exception of Scooby Doo.

  • The only people i'm fine with being in dbd is Elvira and Nic Cage.

They all say he’s balanced blah blah blah, he’s balanced in the sense you are guaranteed to see him 4 plus times a day that’s about it

Not only do they insist that he's the most balanced killer in the game, but whenever you say that you don't think he's fun or that you think he's boring regardless if they say it's just in your opinion, they'll simply just use the excuse of ''the majority thinks he's fun'' in order to invalidate yours and any opposing opinions on him or any other idea of fun.

That's why i firmly believe that the only thing more insufferable than a Blight stan is a Wesker fanboy.

The legion being dressed in bunny cosmetics and the plague having a gumball machine as weapon also don't make sense lore--wise and atmospherically.

Atmosphering wise, dbd is not just grim dark horror anymore and Lorewise, all of horror exist in the Entity's realm according to cote in his interview with Slasher Radio, so Robbie the Rabbit does fit into the game seeing as he's a product of the Fog world in Silent Hill along with how he behaves in SH3, while both the Robbie cosmetics and the gumball machine both got blood on them in-game to fit with the aesthetics of the game.

That's more than what can be said for clothing being entirely clean, considering when you got prestige cosmetics being covered entirely in blood.

I tryed on customs with friends and they didnt hear anything exept the moans but the same time he says stuff like help me etc

I think it's not always synced with when Survivors hear it and when Killer hears it outside of a few specific actions.

However i know things like opening a locker usually guarantees a voiceline to be heard for the Killer as well as the Survivor.

If it doesn't play no matter what, then it's most likely a bug because Survivors are intended to hear the voicelines too.

  • Survivors do hear them, just like they hear every other Killer's voicelines.

  • Buff: Myers

    Nerf: Wesker

Rework: Someone else than Skull Merchant

  • Buff for Myers

    Nerf for Wesker

I won't say who i picked for a rework, but i can say it wasn't Skull Merchant.

  • I think this chapter is the second best anniversary chapter we've gotten, with only Silent Hill surpassing it.

I've also noticed a lot of patterns and inconsistencies in their cosmetic design. A lot of cosmetics tend to be dirty or muddied for whatever reason, devs seem to be allergic to giving female survivors longer haired head cosmetics let alone proper hair physics, a lot of non linked cosmetics have major clipping issues whereas some linked cosmetics have no clipping issues whatsoever when paired with other cosmetics, and some linked cosmetics being linked for absolutely no reason. (Felix's Suiting Architect outfit being one that comes to mind)

It's not really for whatever reason that cosmetics are dirty or muddied, it's done on purpose because it's part of the general game aesthetics.

After all, this is a horror theme'd game where you're running and vaulting for your life through dirt/mud/sand/snow in order to escape a killer that's out to end your life, so it fits that cosmetics aren't completely clean.

In fact, i wish cosmetics got progressively more dirtied/muddied up throughout the course of the trial.

  • We don't need an entire gamemode for that, just make it an option you can click on in loadout for it to randomize your perks.

  • a million corners to turn to make blight and wesker infinitely less fun

    Untitled Image

  • If you haven't already, you should contact support about the issue, see if they can help you with it.

  • Definitely not Wesker.

  • No license will ever permanently exist in the game as they're contracted only to exist for a specific amount of time before said contract with the license holder has to be renewed or revoked.

Any and all licensed IPs in the game have the potential to be pulled from the game if a license holder of any IP chooses not to renew their contract with bhvr for any reason whatsoever, it's nothing new since it's always been like that for licenses as that's just the nature of how they work in general.

Likewise, licenses also have the potential to return again in the future, however that doesn't mean it's guaranteed to happen and if a license does return, it very well could only be staying for the same duration as last time or even less.

  • None of them, the horror genre doesn't scare me at all because it's all fictional in the end and no amount of fictional work can measure up to the horrors of real life, which is what is truly scary.

  • It still doesn't beat Clown's Party Bottle add-on since it's the only add-on to create confetti upon impact.

Ty, i guess i will take the challenge, my worries is the EMP, does it impact too much in his power?

Mostly for Biopods that are far away, so if you try to play gen defense with your power then it will be effective against them unless you place like multiple Biopods in the same Gen location that are far enough apart from one another to not be effected by one EMP charge, but still close enough to be used on Survivors on the Generator.

In chase however, you can just shoot a new one immediately to use on the Survivor.

Also you can remove disabled Biopods by shooting at them and then just place a new one in the exact same location.

Some advice though, he does require a fair bit of map knowledge and practice before you start getting results from him, but i do believe he's worth it.

  • I would say yes because i find him satisfying to use once you start to master him, however if you rather wanna play a killer that takes less time to master and are more straight forward to use, then i would suggest buying the older killers.

This is pretty much how every game of mine goes as survivor. Idk how people think he's bad he's incredibly strong in chase.

    Ditto

The main thing about Singularity is that he takes alot of practice and map knowledge to be effective, but once you start getting results from him, he becomes incredibly satisfying to use.

Of course, some tweaks for him as well as some for the EMP crates too would be appreciated, but overall i would say he's in a good state atm.

And all the killer has to do is fly around and find a survivor to possess?

The gist of it is basically that yes.

Granted, it is mostly a rough idea with borrowed elements from the Demon Gameplay in Evil Dead: The Game, you could probably add more elements to it to make it more engaging when polishing it, but at it's core, i do believe a power concept such as possession could work in dbd yes.

  • @DavidHypnos said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3445592#Comment_3445592

That would never work as if you’re possessing a survivor you’re already taking one out of rotation without having to hook them.

I would agree with you if the possession duration was permanent, however since the possession duration would only be for a limited time, i don't see any issue with it as long as you can give the player who's Survivor got possessed some kind of mini game for them to do while possessed that would help them or their teammates in some way or form.

  • @Yatol said:

Is there a list of the abilities invitation give? because i tried googling with no luck.

It was explained by the devs during the anniversary livestream, but basically when you've collected an invite and have at minimum one charge available, you gain the following abilities to use per charge during chases.

    Survivors

    • Spawn one time use pallets that disappear upon throwing them
    • Block off windows for the killer to use temporarily

    Killer

    • Decrease stun time when hit by a pallet for a limited time, basically free enduring perk use
    • Destroy thrown pallets or breakable walls
    • Cause the Survivor you're chasing to suffer from the Exposed Status Effect for a limited time upon reaching Bloodlust tier 1

Just needs to be an exit open, whether gate (which always triggers EGC) or hatch (which doesnt)

Weird, because i've had the invite be redeemed as soon as i close a hatch and trigger the End Game Collapse.

yeah, I finally noticed that it says R3 to use an invitation. this last match was even more confusing; I got 2 invitations and never used them, and toward the end of the match my invitation icon turned gold and didn't show a number anymore? What does this all mean? This is way too complicated and unintuitive.

Basically, the floating dancers are just decorations as far as i can tell, they disappear as soon as you approach them and don't affect your masquarade invite.

The way this event works is that you need to collect an invitation and have at least 1 invite charge available when the End Game Collapse triggers by any means, when the masquarade invite icon turns gold during the End Game Collapse and you can't use it anymore, it means that the invite has been redeemed and you've unlocked a Masquarade Mask for a character.

  • I could say what i wish for it to be, but it's quite frankly pointless since it'll just lead to disappointment in the very likely case it's not those.

Instead i'm gonna go by what i hope it's not, which is another second chapter of an existing license, another video game license or another resident evil chapter.

Personally, I really Liked all the clutter in the PTB version of the map. I mean sure, the collision issues, and excess flora made the map a Nightmare for all the Ranged killers, and Billy/Blight, but overall it gave you this tense, claustrophobic, "lost in the Jungle" feeling, which made it fantastic for Stealth Killers/builds, and Paradise for our underappreciated Trap Killers: Hag and Trapper.

Ever since the Live Release, where they toned down on the clutter, and trimmed the grass to the point it's now Mostly bald, save for a few spots of peach fuzz; the map lost a lot of its atmosphere and charm. If they had left all that clutter, but just fixed the collision issues, then the only killers who'd have trouble would be mostly the ranged ones, and the survivors would have much more hiding/stealth options. Sure everyone would be pulling their hair out at first trying to navigate the map, but eventually we'd all get used to it, and that wouldn't be a problem anymore, so it was something I was looking forward to.

I just feel like, by removing the clutter, they ended up making the map less interesting/unique. It's a shame really, this game has more than enough predictable maps so we could've really used one that shook things up more than simply introducing new tiles.

Honestly agree, would have given me another map to play Ghostface on which is something i wish there were more maps that benefited him and other stealth killers in general.
