You can still have casual clothing that's still space theme'd, one does not exclude the other.
Also i'll never get the people who wants modern cosmetics for Gabe but takes massive issue with Vittorio getting modern cosmetics just because he's from the dark ages, either all Survivors can have modern clothing or nobody can have modern clothing.
-
I don't have any strong feelings on him, he's fine both to play as and against, definitely more fun to play against than Blight.

The two most reliable sites to buy from to get the charm are from Titan Comics and Forbidden Planet.

I'll just copy below the same thing i wrote in another thread about scary killer designs.
-
Scary is subjective, personally i don't think any of the killers (including Unknown) are scary, some of them are unsettling at best, but definitely not scary.
-
Shooting a stream of fire like a flamethrower
Wall Crawling (May be map dependant, but should still be a power available through addons.)
Gravity Manipulation
Shapeshifting as a Survivor
Flying
Destroying the environment
Jumping from environment to environment
Possessing Survivors
Any Hunter power from Identity V

Which to you is the most unsettling?
Either Pyramid Head for the way he walks towards you, Xenomorph for it's Clone skin or Unknown for how lifeless it's face is and how it's entire body is a twisted mess straight out of a surrealistic painting.

Scary is subjective, personally i don't think any of the killers (including Unknown) are scary, some of them are unsettling at best, but definitely not scary.
-
Here's how i'd rate it. (I'm only rating the current versions of the chase tracks) (I'd put Unknown in A Tier.)
-
If only we could get the original voice actors to do voicelines for their characters and perhaps even have them record new in-game sounds such as grunts & screams.
-
The upcoming Iron Maiden cosmetics for killers will have the Iron Maiden song ''Fear of the Dark'' playing as their menu song.
Since it's a song that Iron Maiden holds the copyright to and not bhvr, it falls under copyrighted music and thus risks copyright striking content creators and streamers if not muted when they stream.

The only thing it is is some sort of urban legend proven real. Nobody knows though, and that's what adds some of the horror - the idea it is not something that can be categorised.
I don't think it's Olivia or the Entity though. My take is she witnessed The Unknown being abducted by The Entity, with the ending of the lore leaving a window open for Olivia to enter the realm. In what capacity remains to be seen.
Which means Olivia and her time in the fog is most likely gonna be the focus of The Unknown's tome.
Also assuming the tome's story isn't conclusive at the last entry, she might even end up being left as a teaser as either a future Survivor or Killer.

Gonna grab it all, it's possible that it's another 1 year deal like AOT was and as a completionist, i don't intend on missing out.
-
I don't agree with Mintskull's tierlist video on alot of his placements and his reasoning behind his placements.
As far as Pyramid goes, his current chase track fits him better than his ptb did for the simple reason that it's much closer to the vibe Silent Hill 2 has with it's soundtrack and the heavy industrial noises used for it, where as the ptb chase track for Pyramid has more of a Silent Hill 1 vibe to it.
I'd be fine with an option to choose between which chase tracks to listen to, but having it replace the current one is a big no for me.

I know what you meant, and I was trying to say I agreed, but I didn't make that clear enough. I meant I would like to have more survivors like Yun-Jin, and even some survivors like you suggest who are outright antiheroes or villains but not bad enough to be killers themselves. There's no rule that all survivors have to be nice or decent people, they just need to have enough force of will to endure the trials. It hurts my suspension of disbelief if everyone is perfectly friendly and good-natured all the time.
Carter Burke from Aliens, for example, is a selfish and cruel corporate scumbag who tries to kill Ripley and Newt for his own personal profit, but he could work as a survivor character. Wouldn't be my first pick from that movie but I wouldn't mind his inclusion either. Dr. Michael Kaufmann from Silent Hill would be another good pick, he's definitely not a good guy but he's not a real antagonist in the game either, just a slimeball trying to survive the danger he's caught up in.
So, here's hoping BHVR isn't afraid to be more "edgy" with their survivor characters.
Ah, i gotcha.
Also you're right, Survivors are not purely good guys and killers are not purely bad guys, i know there are people who would want it that way because it would simplify things so that it's easier to make sense of, however i believe it would drag down the quality of the lore, it's what i like about Potrait of a Murder and what it did with it's Survivors and Killer as it showcases that even innocent people who have done nothing wrong can still be manipulated by outside forces and end up suffering a terrible fate at the hands of things out of their control, while opposite with having guilty, selfish or outright morally bad people become victims themselves. (Also Twelve to Midnight. The Crow. tome makes Artist's story in the overall dbd lore 100x better)
Outside of Carter & Kaufmann, someone like Harry Cooper from Night of the Living Dead, Nikolai from Resident Evil 3 or Negan from The Walking Dead could do as well. (If you wanna go even further, we could pick someone like Lionel Starkweather from Manhunt.)
Also i'm kinda curious if Claudia from SH3 got into the fog, if she would try to survive the trials or if she would see the entity as her new god and willingly become a sacrifice to it, same with Dahlia.

Oh, by minority regarding James I meant that I didn't consider him as a horrible individual within the game. A lot of comments about him relate to him as a villain and a terrible persom, whilst I felt he did what he did because of a few reasons, not just selfish. After all, he kisses Mary before he does what he does, which doesn't imply to me as something a cold-hearted individual would do.
Certainly, James and Cheryl are the top 2 characters, and my choice of Cheryl is based on her being the most real and relateable in how her character is and evolves, but likewise I can very much see why people prefer James as the best protagonist.
Also, I do see what you mean about the protagonists of Jonah and Yun-Jin. They both weren't the typical good guys. Mind you, a lot of Survivors have levels of grey, but those two definitely are more edgey than the others.
In that regard, i can follow you on that.
Whether a person is terrible or not depends on who you ask and what is enough to constitute someone to be one, personally i too don't see James as a villain nor a horrible person and even if he was, i believe it adds to his character.
I remember reading somewhere that a character's strengths is what makes them interesting and their flaws is what makes them human. The thing about humans is that they are way more complicated than being simply good or evil as we're not bound by one type of action or the other and the intent behind our actions are not restricted to being driven only by selfish or selfless reasons, as both good & bad people can do both good & bad things for both selfish and selfless reasons, which is why i believe that the further a character blurs the line between both good and evil, the more compelling they can become.
James is not a good person, however he is not a bad one either, if anything i'd call him the most human out of all the protagonists in the entire SH franchise. James' action regarding killing his wife was something that was the result of James snapping after emotional trauma and loneliness building up over time from constantly mourning his ill wife and when he did do the deed, while it was a selfish desire that made him do it, it wasn't one done out of malice or apathy.
Also let's not forget that he still suffered greatly for his actions internally with guilt and sadness afterwards to the point of denial and memory surpression, something that the town of SIlent Hill manifested in all it's horrifying glory, even then while in Silent Hill and met all the characters through the game, he still tried to protect and help people.
So i think the people who believes James is a villain and a terrible person is missing the point of it all.
-
Also not sure if edgy is the right word, however i get what you mean by it and yeah i do hope we get more of those kinds of Survivors in the future.

if you recall, there was an egregious desync bug that happened in the same patch as the new movement animations. instead of fixing the bug and seeing how things settled for a couple weeks they panicked and ripped out all the transition animations.
I don't remember any desync bug as the reason the transition got removed, iirc it had something to do with people getting pissy over the fact that they couldn't moonwalk as Survivors anymore or spin the killer anymore because the updated animation didn't allow it (Can't remember which one it was), however it is my belief that despite the initial outcry, dbd needs to move forward and continue updating and polishing everything about itself to avoid becoming outdated with time, including animation and graphics.

I agree with you, especially on that last point. I would be interested in having a survivor who isn't a straightforward "good guy". Yun-Jin is one of my favorite survivors because she stands out from the rest as a self-centered character who puts herself first. I don't like her cosmetics much but she is one of my favorite female survivors to play as because of her character. Just wish her perks were a little better so I could use them more.
The other female survivor I enjoy playing as is Zarina, because I appreciate her character as an honest dirt-digging journalist. But again, I'm not a fan of most of her cosmetics. Still, I find her easy to sympathize with because of her ethics, so in a way I like both ends of the spectrum of morality. I want to play as good people, bad people, and neutral people. I like variety.
For male survivors, my favorites are Jeff and Adam. I'm also a fan of metal music, and Jeff's character as a withdrawn but passionate artist with tastes similar to my own make me like him a lot. I also like a lot of his cosmetics, even if they do tend to all be metal-inspired with not much variety, I hope they fix that in the future. For Adam, I think he's an interesting guy, an intelligent Jamaican man teaching in Japan, and I respect the integrity and work ethic he's written with. He also looks really cool in his default design with the long coat.
I also have a fondness for Felix and Ace. Ace is a plucky and morally dubious rogue that's hard not to like, and Felix has a tragic element to his story that appeals to me.
For licensed characters, I bought Alan Wake immediately and have been enjoying leveling him up rapidly, and I'm also happy to have Ripley in the game. I wish I could buy Cheryl's legendary skins like James and Cybil so I could play as them, but i don't have money to burn on expensive cosmetics like those.
I mean we already have a not straight forward ''good guy'' which is Yun-Jin, what i'm referering to with someone who is morally bankrupt is more like someone who is closer to being the antagonist in their story or straight up is the antagonist altogether and that their presence in the fog being seen as some kind of punishment for their deeds or getting away with all their deeds.
Imagine if we got some human antagonist from some horror franchise who instead of becoming a killer is picked as a Survivor and is required to work with people who they would normally be working or fighting against.
It's like when you have one of those situations in fiction where the protagonist and the antagonist or the anti-hero are stuck in the same situation and are by circumstance forced to work together in order to survive their predicament, something like that.

I've never had a problem with thee exit gate animation. What bothers you about them?
The healing is absolutely the worst animation in the game and I'm convinced they just can't find a way of improving it because of the different sizes among survivors.
My problem with the exit gate animation is that it just looks stiff, especially with the other arm that isn't pulling the lever. I would like them to make it feel more natural.
As far as healing goes, i have a feeling you're correct. I think they should update the animation to look similar to left 4 dead but have it be something that can loop repeatedly so it can go on for as long as required.

I loved those animations personally, but it did make movement feel a little clunky
It may have felt a little less responsive compared to the old animation, but it has been proven to be a visual thing only as the speed of a Survivor turning is the same regardless when comparing.
Personally, it made Survivors turning feel more natural than the clunky and stiff running animation of the old movement and i'd wish we could bring it back.

Being stuck with PS2-era animations indefinitely for the sake of "muh moonwalks" is one of the worst decisions they have ever made.
Ditto, i wish they'd bring it back along with updating the healing and exit gate animation.
But hey, at least we can't say they don't listen to the community when they more often than not bend over to community backlash, although that won't stop people from saying stuff like they never listen to them or use the same piss poor excuse of ''nobody asked for this'' whenever they get something they don't like.
So i guess we need to be just as vocal in order to get it back.

My favourite Survivor character is probably Ellen Ripley, because she is badass in every single way. Shout out also to Cheryl Mason who was a hugely under-rated as a character. Her VA was brilliant in SH3, and still stands as one of the best voice-acted character in video games, even now.
Perk-wise, it's Nicholas Cage. His perks were refreshing, fun, useful, and he also acted it really quite brilliantly (as should be expected!).
Also @Smoe, I'm glad to see James Sunderland mentioned! I'm with the minority of Silent Hill fans who doesn't think he is just a bastard and actually was mucu more complicated. Nice to see him getting some love!
He is without question the best SH protagonist in the entire franchise. Cheryl is good as well, don't get me wrong, but James is far more interesting as a character because of all the things he has done and how he is as a character.
Also i don't think you're in the minority like you claim to be about James, in my experience from what i've seen, alot of people considers james to be either the second best or the best protagonist in the entire franchise.
On a side note: I am of the opinion that Survivors who have made bad choices in life, done horrible things or committed selfish actions makes for far more interesting characters than morally good Survivors does, it's why i find Potrait of a Murder & All-Kill to both be some of DBD's best chapters narrative-wise. Hell, i wouldn't mind if we got a Survivor who is complete and utterly morally bankrupt as it make for an interesting twist on things both on the narrative and their motivation for surviving along with the theme of their perks.

A QOL feature that enables the smooth transition animation from Survivor's locomotion that was cut from ptb 4.5.0
A chase music selector that allows the old ptb or previous live chase tracks to replace the current chase track to be listened to client sided.

Ace, Bill, Ash, Cheryl, James Sunderland, Chris, Jonah, Vittorio, Nic Cage, Ripley & Alan.
Why? Because they're all based in one aspect or another.

Ain't no way Warner Bros would license out one of their biggest cash cows to a company that isn't under their own umbrella.
It's as likely as Sony agreeing to do cross-progression or a crossover with an IP they own into a game that's owned by different company without getting some form of compensation or some kind of exclusivity in return.

I’m kinda hoping they branch out to modern horror games ex amnesia outlast the evil within
They've already done that with Alan Wake.
Also out of all 3 picks, Outlast has the biggest chance to be added.
-
It depends on relevancy and popularity really.
If we look at something like SAW which is post-2000, it's big enough as a franchise to have both.
I can't really think of a whole lot of modern horror movies that have enough of both to be considered big enough in the same sense.
-
I personally do not want another RE chapter, two is more than enough for the time being.
That said, if they add Lady D to DBD, she will be shrunken down to the same height level that DBD Nemesis is at no matter what.
-
I'm 50/50 on him.
On one hand, i like his implementation overall along with his perks, he along with Alan Wake are my two mains.
On the other hand, i don't like his inclusion because of the precedent it sets going forward, now people have an excuse to use and a justification when arguing for the inclusion of other real life people or internet personalities to be added like Youtube Content Creators, Vtubers or Fog Whispers.
Personally i would have preferred if we had gotten Nic Cage as one of his movie characters instead, same extends to any other real life actors they add to the game.

Except that's the thing, i don't want anything from old dbd back, including the old lighting.

How is it that we keep circling back to the topic of either the finisher mori or base kit unbreakable every now and then as if their inclusion are still uncertain?
The devs have already stated multiple times by now that those features are not being added and was only part of a test for some larger update.

Game sucks when in high level sweaty matches and it's no fun beating players who don't know what they're doing. Really there's no in-between and alas that's where the real fun lies.
All the more reason why a ranked mode would be a waste of time.
-

There will not be a DBD 2 in the foreseeable future. Which is honestly good because this could very well kill the game. I'd imagine most of us would not be happy having to pay for a DBD 2 and possibly start from scratch with no characters unlocked. If everything is carried over however, then they will not make the money back that was put into creating DBD 2.
Ranked and casual mode would not work. The players who really want to win would still play the casual mode, making this whole situation even worse because the expectations for a casual mode would be for the games to be more... Well, casual.
A 2v8 would be pretty fun (I imagine). Obviously there would need to be some adjustments to such a mode (otherwise it would be very one-sided which players would enjoy at first but loathe in the long run).
Also i'm pretty sure the reason we keep seeing ranked mode being suggested every now and then is because alot of people don't want to play with how current dbd is because they find it too sweaty and would rather just play with players of random skill levels for easier matches.
Which just tells me most people would not even bother to use ranked mode anyway and would just stick to casual mode primarily.
-
My guess would be in the next rift or so.

This is our first modifier, so we're still experimenting to find what works best. There's a couple reasons why it's only available for a limited time, but a big one is to help get matches going in the modifier. If it were available permanently, there would eventually come a point where the novelty wears off for many people and they move on, leading to extremely long queue times for the few people who still want to play it. Like an event, we'd like for modifiers to be fun things that pop up from time to time that people are excited to take part in.
There will be more modifiers in the future, though, and it's not out of the question that popular modes could return in the future. Any feedback is welcome!
Question, can we expect modfiers to become a rotational thing once we have enough in the game?
Also can we at some point have every modifier be available at all times in custom games?

What does the platform used have to do with it? The vast majority of DBD players are also on the consoles.
Yes, but unlike DBD, MYM's pc playerbase is below 100.
My point was that DBD is not bhvr's only successful game and that while not as big, MYM has a big enough playerbase despite it being mostly on console.
Where as with DBD, even without console, it would still have a big enough playerbase to keep the game going with pc alone

I'd say make it rotational once we get more modifiers, however keep them all available for people to play in custom game.

And personally I don't like it when thematics affecting gameplay. Gameplay should always be the most important when it comes to a character. You can have the all thematics you want for a character as long as it doesn't affect how the characters mechanics works and the lullaby does that exact thing for Sadoko. It virtually makes her stealth useless. I rather them either remove it completely or make it map wide that way it doesn't affect her stealth whatsoever. Even decreasing it would still affect her stealth and this is why I want either those two options.
And i strongly disagree with that stance, so we'll have to agree to disagree on it.
-
The only objective answer for what would happen is that the game would lose content.

Well, my apologies if I broke some sort of rule (wasn't aware) I was merely voicing concerns.
The fact nothing is confirmed is the reason why this thread isn't in the feedback section and is sheer worrisome speculations. I do apologize if it bothered some people.
If there ever were to come lootboxes into the game, as long as it's similar to Overwatch's lootbox system, then i don't think it'll be a problem and instead will benefit players as it'll be free cosmetic pieces and currencies whenever you level up.

I expect it to end up being rotational once we get more modifiers in the game.

I personally I want the lullaby gone just because it hurts her stealth especially when they added the visual TR accessibility option. That was when the lullaby started to become an issue in my opinion since it allowed ppl to see her lullaby even though the lullaby itself is very quiet and almost unnoticeable. If ppl like the thematic of it, fine then make it map wide by base kit or make a addon make it map wide(I know few ppl had suggested this as a addon and I agree with them). Either that or make it where it doesn't interact with the visual TR accessibility option.
Personally from a gameplay pov I think only one killer needs a lullaby and that huntress since her kit lets her snipe ppl from long distances.
I am firmly against the idea of removing any thematic elements from any characters for the sake of gameplay no matter, all it does is removing flavor from a character which only just makes them less cool to either play as or against.
However i am not against changing those elements to work differently, so as long as they keep the lullaby, they can change and adjust it however they want.

I agree that condemned shouldn't be the focus, but if you're going to introduce a mechanic, it should at least make sense. If you can't max it before the second hook, it's almost useless. It becomes like when they changed moris only work after the second hook; it makes it more of a flourish than a feature. Their reasoning for capping the lock in is still nonsensical.
That said, I'd rather see her stealth/chase buffed than her condemnation.
One dead horse I'll continue to beat is that her lullaby should be removed. She's not Huntress, she doesn't have a ranged attack you need to game around. She's a stealth killer (with poor chase) that you can hear coming. It's stupid. It's too bad because the audio design is great, but the lullaby is an unnecessary handicap.
If they insist on keeping it, they should give her a chase buff. Like instead of having a slowdown when manifesting, give her a speed boost.
I'd prefer that they simply decreased the range of the lullaby rather than removing it entirely, as removing it would kill off a very thematic part of the character and that would just be an overall decrease in quality for the character.
