  • Only chance that's ever happening is if Warner Bros sell off the IP to another company, although if we someday do get a second chapter, perhaps we can finally get the real Freddy as a skin so we're not stuck with Fredberg Kroger.

  • Both the 5v5 & Giant modifier sounded like fun, a Survivor racing mode could also be good.

Not a fan of 2v8 though.

  • I guess you also miss the times when you could not go a day on the forum without people making threads about how annoying Deathslinger was to play against, because that's exactly what's gonna happen again if we make his ADS too quick.

  • Unless it's as cosmetics, i'd say none as DBD should stick to horror only when it comes to chapters themselves.

  • Removing clutter is just going to nerf stealth killers.

yeah but im in scary movie you are in scream we are both doofy my guy but we are different versions of him

    That's Special Officer Doofy.

  • There is a report feedback or notification in the game that tells you when your report have been looked at, it will appear to you in the lobby when the devs have taken action against the player you've reported.

Here's an example of what it looks like when your report has been handled. (The picture isn't mine)

    image.png
  • Still not a fan of billy, even more so now that i'm facing him more than once in a blue moon.

  • Only thing Xeno really needs is some improvements to it's tail attack and a rework to it's addons to make them more creative that brings different playstyles to use.

  • Can't wait for Swamp to finally get reworked, maybe in the future we can get Hawkins reworked as well.

The sooner we snuff out the last remnants of old dbd, the better.

After that, hopefully all remaining older killers can get their turn as well.

  • What were you reported for?

Also as long as you weren't breaking any of the actual game rules, then you won't get banned regardless if you were reported.

  • A tierlist thread, been a while since we had one of those.

    Here's mine.

    my-image.png

  • I hope they don't.

They removed it because it lead to people constantly zoom spamming Survivors into lose lose situations during chases and bringing back his old ADS will just bring that issue back as well.

I still remember back when it was in the game, there would not go a day without one or more people complaining on the forum about how annoying Deathslinger was to play against because of how fast his ADS was.

I'm all for QOL for Slinger, but bringing back his old ADS is a terrible idea all around.

  • It's not typical horror if you don't do the stereotypes and cliches seen in horror movies, and what better way to do that than by disobeying the rules provided in Scream?

  • New Line doesn't really exist anymore except by name, it's pretty much just Warner Bros solely at this point.

Only way we'll ever get OG ANOES is if they sell the IP off, otherwise there is no chance it's gonna happen.

The doomers have given up on other horror asymms killing DBD so now it's just any game that might be popular is going to kill DBD.

    Amazing.

I still remember when they said Elden Ring was gonna kill dbd.

  • Now bring an Alan Wake killer into DBD and have Wake narrate that tome as well.

  • I'd say you get more out of Xeno in terms of power & perk value than you do with Demo.

While demo's shred attack has faster activation timing and feels easier to use, Xeno's tail attack can be even more deadly and probably has a higher skill ceiling. Turrets can sometimes be annoying, however most of the time they're pretty easy to deal with and their effects can just be negated by getting in a tunnel and quickly recover should they kick you out of Crawler Mode.

Also Xeno gets more value out of it's tunnels than Demo does with it's portals.

  • There is not a single bad cosmetic or charm in this rift, probably the best one they've done so far, plus Mr. Scratch is part of it, so that already makes it 100x better.

Also Deathslinger takes the cake for best Deep Rift cosmetic set in the entire game.

  • Can't speak for others, but my games have been pretty chill for the most part.

I'd say once the first bugfix patch rolls out, give it a shot and judge for yourself if it's worth coming back to or not.

  • There is not a single bad cosmetic when it comes to legion imo, but my top 5 favorite ones are in the following order from top to bottom.

    image.png image.png image.png image.png image.png

    Honorable mentions (in no order)

    image.png image.png image.png image.png image.png image.png

  • I sure did.

  • Would be nice if we could change FOV inside a match.

good thing it was replaced with absolutely nothing. xD i'm sure you rathered that.

actually, considering how annoying this post of yours reads, you probably do.

What i rather want is something actually new & refreshing to be excited over instead of the same yearly boring stuff we've been doing every lunar event since Moonrise, which is either collect something on the map or just pop an event offering for extra bloodpoints. (Even the Paper Lantern is pretty much almost a reskin of the smashable pumpkin from The Midnight Grove event)

  • I really don't care about lunar new year, last year's lunar was pretty boring imo and i doubt it would have been any better had we gotten one this year.

  • This whole gen block mechanic should only come into play when there actually are only 3 generators left on the map.

  • The penalty for missing or bumping into objects should be increased, right now it feels too forgiving.

  • Only ones that needs changes (and by changes i mean buffs) are Boon: Illumination & Deadline.

  • @Peanits said:

To clarify, Saga does have unique grunts & screams like other legendary outfits, but does not feature additional voice lines during the trial like Alan Wake.

Can you elaborate on the reason behind why she doesn't have any, even just a little bit?

Also any chance she can get some in the future?

  • Absolutely never wanna see old freddy again.

He should stay buried with the rest of old dbd.

With their inane backpack fetish, I'd bet they won't be satisfied until every surv looks like a hermit crab

I think the only ones with a fetish is the community.

Can't really blame bhvr for doing simple supply and demand for something that clearly sells enough for them to continue making those type of cosmetics as more than enough people must be buying them continously.

Bhvr is still a business at the end of the day and if backpacks truly didn't sell well, then they wouldn't have a reason to keep making them.

  • Two things i feel would help.

    1. Categorization of perks into groups depending on what they do and how easy they are to use (similar to the Killer difficulty text).
    2. Quick video demonstrations in the menu for all perks to showcase their effects when hovering the mouse over one and clicking on a button, extended as well to Killer's powers when hovering the mouse over the power icon for one of them and clicking a button.
  • Have sex, drink booze, do drugs and tell everyone i'll be right back.

In Alan Wake 3, you find Dwight hiding in a random locker. Alan immediately abandons him to die, remarking "I didn't want to get involved with that guy again."

I genuinely would be surprised if they actually included a DBD reference into Alan Wake 3, would be the first time a single player game would have done that and a major of at that.

You'll have no argument from me about this being canonically the best tie-in. I could even see a document about the Entity arising as an Easter Egg when Control 2 comes out.

Imagine if - a few years down the line - they made a game which entwinned these two franchises closer together. A game about the Entity, but based on Earth, rather than in the realms. It would make a fun twist. Even a mission in Control 2 linked to it would be a lot of fun.

I think realistically, an easter egg is probably the closest we'll get to a tie-in of both IPs in a remedy game.

Anything beyond that and we're entering the same territory Quantum Break is in.

A Huntress "Taken" outfit would be amazing if they could! I'd love to see Scratch make an appearance also, maybe as a Paragraph Killer at some point in the future. Afterall, if Scratch is a part of Alan, then it would make sense he may appear there at some point.

Also, you're right about everything in DBD being canon for its own multiverse. It's more that some licenses carried across are characters from a different reality to their core games. So Leon and Jill in DBD are not the same Leon and Jill in the games RE design - they come from an Earth where the Entity appears to snatch them during the Raccoon City crisis, whilst in the RE games we see them as continuing their story against Umbrella.

It's all pretty fun and especially with Fortnite some may think Alan Wake in there wouldn't fit in his escape attempts, but then again he spent a whole chapter witnessing a musical of his life, complete with dancing, so silliness isn't unknown in the Dark Place.

I'd love to have Scratch or The Dark Presence as killers in dbd, however i have my doubts it will happen given that BHVR said during a discord press Q&A that The Dark Presence and Scratch were both too close to The Entity as well as being impossible to conceptualize into a killer, however bhvr did also say that after playing Alan Wake 2, that there was some monsters in that game that would be a great fit as killers, which they could bring into DBD at a later time since the chapter was in the works prior to Alan Wake 2's release and was based primarily off Alan Wake 1.

Also, you're right about everything in DBD being canon for its own multiverse. It's more that some licenses carried across are characters from a different reality to their core games. You don't need to tell me how DBD's lore work since i'm an avid consumer of DBD's lore. If there is one thing i've learnt, it's that despite what some people think, it's that not everything is a multiverse version of a character in dbd.

Most of the actual multiverse stuff are reserved mainly for most of the licensed lore and for the npc tomes in the archive since the playable character tomes are not multiverse ones, although there are exceptions to the npc tomes since there are characters and stories from those tomes that are connected to the game's 2-3 main universes/terras that alot of the playable and some of the npc characters in dbd are connected to.

It's all pretty fun and especially with Fortnite some may think Alan Wake in there wouldn't fit in his escape attempts, but then again he spent a whole chapter witnessing a musical of his life, complete with dancing, so silliness isn't unknown in the Dark Place.

The Dark Place makes whatever Alan types come to life with no exception, so it isn't unrealistic that he could write something silly and it would come to life which would bring him to places like Fortnite.

Also Remedy & BHVR have said that they'll leave the question of [if Alan Wake created The Entity & The Fog in his attempt to escape the dark place or if The Entity simply invaded Alan Wake's universe] up for people to speculate.

All in all, this may not have been DBD's most popular license they've added, but it's definitely been one of it's best- if not the best one in my book due to how compatible they are with one another in terms of gameplay, lore & what not. Now we just need to add Control into DBD to get Jesse Faden as a Survivor and we'll have the entire Remedy connected universe in the game.

I was the same too and questioned whether Alan Wake in DBD was canon, but apparently Sam Lake has said that this was one of the attempts Alan Wake made to escape the Dark Place. A bit like "American Nightmare" where he ended up in a strange desert location. There's a manuscript note which mentions he finds himself in a place "shrouded with fog" whilst looking for an escape.

Time passes differently in The Entity's realm, so within those 13 years trapped in the Dark Place, he could have spent what seemed like decades in the trials. However, he gets out, which I believe many years back during early DBD we were told we are playing a infintesimally tiny portion of the Survivors and Killers within the Trials who ultimately leave. Obviously canon can change, but it does make some sense.

Mind you, if this is the case, I'd almost be willing to accept Cheryl Mason and "Silent Hill" may also be canon in both universes, if she escaped (to be clear, there is zero evidence that is true :D)

Alan Wake is very meta though. Heck, his appearance in "Fortnite" may also be an attempt! Either way, I like that Sam Lake is so open to it.

Yeah i've read Alan lore for dbd and i also know how the lore for DBD functions with time working differently in the realm.

The article i was given by one of the other users on this thread did point to a page that said it can be canon in both universes, so yeah that is neat.

Also i'm pretty sure every crossover with DBD is canon to it's universe, however as far as i know, only Ringu & now Alan Wake are considered canon within those two IP's universes.

and yes, Alan Wake is very meta, if anything you could say all appearances he makes in other places are canon and can justify it as taking place during those 13 years absence between Alan Wake 1 & 2.

Also kinda interesting that the reason they chose Huntress for Alan Wake's spotlight and trailer is because she's pretty much similar to that of a nightingale or taken that throws hatchets, maybe at some point we can get a Nightingale skin for her.

It's definitely interesting to think that Alan Wake can/will escape the Entity's Realm. However, all that means is that he gets snatched back by the Dark Presence and gets stuck back in that nightmare again, so it's hard to call it a victory. Alan Wake is caught between evil cosmic forces, imprisoned and tormented by darkness, he's in trouble either way.

So far he has escaped the dark place, he has escaped the loop in Fortnite, he has escaped Geoff Keighley at the game awards and eventually he will escape the fog, all of which just resulting in him ending up back in the dark place again.

    Guy can't catch a break.

  • image.png

I guess this does count as a confirmation of it being canon, cool.

Guess that also officially makes Alan Wake the first playable Survivor to have escaped from The Fog & The Entity itself and back to the dark place.

    image.png

Also i guess we have an explaination now for why they chose to feature Huntress in Alan Wake's trailer and spotlight, she's similar to a Taken from Alan Wake 2.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

I will be purchasing him, especially since Sam Lake has said his adventures of the Entities realm are canom to the Alan Wake universe (apparently, an escape attempt from the dark place that went wrong, like "American Nightmare").

As for his perks, Champion of Light is great, Boon: Illumination is nowhere near as bad as people make out, and Deadline is a bit crap (may work with others, but seems a bit of a dud).

His character likeness is decent and his voice acting is absolutely brilliant and - as someone else said - he sounds like someone who is experiencing the horror fully.

A good addition to the roster.

Did Sam Lake ever explicitly state it was canon though?

I know both Lake & Cote on the Alan Wake page on bhvr's site talk about both games as well as the lore being extremely compatible with one another, but i haven't seen any of them explicity state or just mention that it actually was canon to the Alan Wake lore continuity itself.

It is really a pity. There have been suggestions for new game modes on the forums in the past, but why did they choose this mode, which is the most boring? We have already experienced this mode with Dredge and it is not interesting. Also, the fact that it's dark means it's not suitable for streaming, and it won't be exciting for streaming.

    - 5v5 -

    • Two teams of 4 Survivors and 1 Killer face off to control the Generators

    • Capture the Generators by moving Generator progress towards you team’s side in a tug of war gameplay

    - 2v8 Party -

    • 2 Killers against 8 Survivors

    • Hooks are removed, but Cages of Atonement prevail

    - Hide and Seek -

    • No Generators

    • No Hooks, only Moris when downed

    • Stay alive for 5 minutes to escape through the exit gates

    • Auras are revealed every couple of seconds

    - Tag -

    • A random Survivor is picked to be the Killer

    • Down a player to swap roles

    • Survivor 5 minutes and Escape

    - Zombie Tag -

    • A random Survivor is picked to be the Killer

    • Down a player to swap roles

    • Once a Survivor turns to a Killer, they cannot turn back

    • Keep playing until only one Survivor remains

    - Swapped Perspective -

    • Killers plays in third person, while Survivors play in first person.

    - Deceivers -

    • Survivors work together to complete tasks before one or more “Deceiver” can kill everyone without being discovered

    • Played in rounds with voting in between

    - Disgustingly Scary -

    • The Fog is thicker and shrouded in darkness

    - Luck of the Draw -

    • Start the game with randomized Perks and Items

    - Giant -

    • Sizes are altered! Killers are turned into giants, while Survivors become tiny

    - Bumrush -

    • More Generators spawn on the map

    • Everyone moves at double speed

    • Survivors have 3 lives from which they revive after a 20-second timer

    - VIP -

    • When the Obsession is killed, everyone dies

    • Only the Obsession can open the gates for everyoneurvey to FINALLY get some alternatives to the stagnant, old and boring gameplay we have been used to for 7 very long years now.

Additionally, BHVR has said in the past that splitting the matching mode could split people up and slow down matching, and that they have no plans to split the matching mode into two: casual mode and ranked mode. However, now that the number of active users of DBD is decreasing, why do we divide the mode into two? If this is possible, it would be better to create an unranked mode and a ranked mode for a limited time, and give titles to the top players in the ranked mode, which would increase motivation.

Given that we've been doing the same thing for the past 7½ years at this point, anything on that list that drastically changes the way we already play is a welcome breath of fresh air at this point.

Hopefully we can get that in the future and that Lights Out is just bhvr starting out by playing it safe.

  • Don't really have a main anymore.

However i tend to switch between Xenomorph, Artist, Legion, Cannibal, Wraith, Ghostface, Executioner, Cenobite, Knight & Good Guy as those are the only killers i get fun out of playing as currently.

  • Every killer charm slot 1 consist of charms that relates to their respective killer's power or weapon while every Survivor charm slot 1 consist of charms that relates to their perk specialities or perk themes.

Every Killer & Survivor charm slot 2 consist of charms that relates to the character's lore.

Every Killer & Survivor charm slot 3 consist of a figurines of the character themselves (if it exist, otherwise it's just a random charm that fills out.)

  • Gonna be my new main for sure, his voicelines and the lore around his games and how well it ties in with DBD's lore is a big draw for me.

  • Looks absolutely boring.

Was hoping for a game mode that actually changed the way we played the game, like 5v5, giant, zombie infection or just anything that just changes the main way gameplay enough to actually spice things up and not just be ''same game mode but with this little twist added'' or ''Copy and paste Dredge's Nightfall for everyone to be affected and call it a day''.

Hey y’all, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. It’s clear that the changes we’re making to The Onryo didn’t live up to expectations, so we’re preparing a series of follow-up adjustments to address the feedback we’ve received. These adjustments are planned to release as part of the minor updates in the weeks following the Mid-Chapter. We’ll be sure to share more details once we have a plan locked in.

What about changes to Alan Wake's perks? Any buffs to Boon: Illumination and Deadline?

Please tell me you guys are gonna make changes to them that wasn't featured in the developer blog but will be included in the patch note itself.

  • Of course, gonna be my new main in fact.

Got the games in a sale a few weeks ago. Haven’t played them yet and am kinda excited.

Dont know why it got so many ‚haters‘ that don’t even know anything about it? From everything I know about it, it’s a pretty good fit for DbD.. and getting a killer added later would also be a good precedent. (Though I think L4D will still not be considered to get new content because no monetary gains, right?)

Same, bought Alan Wake 1 & American Nightmare yersterday in preperation for the chapter, planning on buying Control for the Alan Wake dlc too, probably gonna watch AW2 on youtube to avoid paying epic any money.

I honestly don't remember any of the other standalone Survivor chapters getting this kind of attitude from the community, so it's weird why people would be against this one all of the sudden, just because it's not the license they wanted. Then again, it's not really surprising considering alot of DBD players don't play anything outside of DBD.

and yes, any valve IP cannot be charged for money, so we'll most likely never get a full chapter from it, or at least we'll never get any legendary skins.

Won't lie good ideas though the one where survivors are infected and can be kicked for not participating could be a little problematic since basically like a survivor dcing it ruins the fun for everyone and that power could basically ruin the fun for some since it's a nice idea and I won't lie not everyone will like it but of course people start crying saying it's fun fair why do they need to do this when their survivor and then BHVR has to now rework it because little Timmy didn't want to be killer for a few seconds.

You can't stop people from dcing no matter what, so it doesn't matter if you can kick them when they've turned into a Survivor-Thing since they've practically already been eliminated as a Survivor and doesn't contribute to their team anymore.

The main purpose for kicking is only for scenarios where either the Survivor-Thing would refuse to participate and assist the killer or when you would have a Survivor-Thing following & reporting the killer's location 24/7 to their SWF group. Any attempts at bodyblocking the killer can be solved by giving The Thing & Survivor-Things no collision with one another.

Basically the kicking function would mainly be there just to avoid any attempts at griefing the killer, if needed be then Survivor-Thing players can just be given an option as well to just be eliminated and have a bot take over without suffering a DC penalty since they've already been eliminated as a Survivor.
