There was a PTB when BHVR gave survivors actual animation frames for when they turned, and there was survivor outrage because it wasn't as easy to confuse the killer when their movement was properly animated. So we're stuck with garbage looking survivor movement, that's totally missing animation frames.
Which means we simultaneously have "360s are fine because they barely work anyway" and "we'll super complain survivors are properly animated because that makes it more difficult to 360"
Exactly what i was referring to with the Survivor turn locomotion being removed, it simply just showcases that bhvr should not listen to people during the PTB and wait longer before making changes as it's clearly not enough time for people to get used to it.
However like i wrote in my previous post, i've seen more people in favor of wanting it back than previously, if there is enough support for it's return, then they will re-implement that part of the updated animation so that we're not stuck with a purposefully half-finished overhaul.
After all, if bhvr is willing to bend the knee over things such as reverting killer reworks & changing ptb chase tracks, then there's no reason they wouldn't revert this as well if given enough public demand for it.
Also i'm not entirely sure if it's true, but i've seen some people say that the FOV slider makes it impossible for Survivors to spin the killer now, which if true means there is even less reason to not bring the Survivor turn locomotion back.

I gotta say, I agree with you on the color filters over maps. Looking at older pics of MacM Estate shows a stark contrast to what we have now. It looked way too blue. Almost cartoon-like.
(For some reason, the reply box won't update with the poster's edit.)
I gotta say, I agree with you on the color filters over maps. Looking at older pics of MacM Estate shows a stark contrast to what we have now. It looked way too blue. Almost cartoon-like. THAT'S WHAT THAT IS.... My buddy swore I was crazy. There is a definite green tint to the Autohaven map.. Yea why TF don't they get rid of that...? xD It really drags down the visuals of the map..
You know why we even still have a green tint on Autohaven? It's because people was still really hung up over the removal of the blue tint on MacMillan for it's rework and this is the result of bhvr listening to that feedback, it is not the only time something like that has happened based on outrage feedback.
Another example is the new Survivor movement and how it's turning locomotion was removed because people couldn't either moonwalk anymore or spin the killer as easily despite the fact that by comparison, there were virtually no difference in terms of turning speed as well as it making Survivor movement look much more smoother and up to date, in fact you can find more people nowadays saying how they want it back, in fact i've seen more people being vocal nowadays about how they miss the now removed locomotion.
Another example is chase music, while this one is more subjective, it is still a case in point as for every chase music that is replaced, you'll have half of the community on the forum, youtube, twitter, etc. saying how they miss that version.
It's quite frankly become routine with this community, first they want something gone and then they want it back.
However, I will say that I was pretty upset when the Gideon Meat Plant got visually updated... The lights in the bathroom in the trailer were extremely blue which looked more faithful to the movie, but what we got just looks...meh.. :/ Probably some graphical thing that this almost 10 year old game engine/code couldn't handle well enough..
It seems we might agree on some things after all. Yeah the sharper blue light in the bathroom is the only thing really missing from the map, that and if Tobin Bell's voice would play on the Jigsaw tv screen in the workshop part of the map when you approach it and tells you ''I wanna play a game.''
It's removal however i don't think it has anything to do with the coding, i think it's more likely to have been toned down due to people's feedback, but that's just my guess.

Yea I'll give you that, but I still hope we get day/night versions of every map in the future. I doubt we will, but I'll keep the faith.
While i'm not generally onboard with day/night versions of maps, it's the option that i would be mostly fine with should it happen.
I just hope they don't bring back the god awful yellow filter should we ever get a night time variant again, it was my biggest gripe with the old Coldwind maps, the same way the old filters for MacMillan and Autohaven was my biggest gripes with those maps, i still wish they would tone down the green on current Autohaven.

I never even played the game when it was a thing jsyk. I've only seen videos and I have to say it looks better to me. If I wanted to play TCM.....I'd go play TCM..
Well i did, i hated it back then and i hate it now, i was extremely happy when they removed it, the same way i'm happy they removed the blue tint from MacMillan.
Not only does DBD have Leatherface in the game but Hillbilly is an obvious inspiration from TCM, therefore it makes perfect sense to have it be daytime just like in the movie which most of it's memorable scenes takes place during daytime.
Not only that but if they went with that first and then changed it, tells me that their first idea was the better one anyway.
Only reason they would ever change it back to their first idea would be because of the community demand being big enough, not because they would want to.
Also by that very logic, whatever we revert back regardless of how outdated, clunky or detrimental something may be to the game must clearly be better just because some people in the community refuse to let go of the older version because it's what they're are used to, which pretty much extend to just about almost every single updating of existing content bhvr has ever made to the game.

I completely disagree. Me and everyone I play with want the night version back. They should either implement different variations of the map so that you can play it during the day and not or as I've brought up for a long time, make it to where every single map in the game starts at night time and as more and more Generators get done the sun will rise. Hence bringing the actual meaning of "Dead by Daylight" into the game play itself.
Good for you, and everyone i know don't want night time coldwind back, i myself refuse to go back to looking at some ugly slapped on piss filter because people are too blinded by nostalgia to let go of it.
Your suggestion on different times of day or a day/night cycle is (just like every single take on balance and how you think dbd should be that i've seen you make on the forum) something i completely disagree with.
Dead by Daylight is more of a saying rather than a literal meaning, the same way that dead by dawn or dead meat are nothing more than sayings rather than literal meanings.
-
Do not ever revert Coldwind back to night time.
-
Keep Coldwind maps as daytime maps as it looks way better now with it's TCM vibe compared to before.
-
Don't have much to say about Coldwind in terms of balance.
As long as the maps is kept as daytime maps, then i'm happy.
-
- DBD being the only official game in existence to continously collect horror icons within one shared game as well as being the game that debut certain iconic character's first video game appearance altogether.
- The continous removal or updating of content/features from the first 4-5 years of dbd's lifespan.
- The continous expansion of the IP itself into other medias.
- Almost all the custom chase music, the exception being only Legion and Wesker's.
-
As it's own chapter? no.
Probably works better as a cosmetic pack only if anything.
-
I don't really think there is a whole lot to go on, most of the good stuff from literature is adapted in some way or form.
Although if i had to pick one, i'd go with this one below, while it is a ghostface related story, it is still an original one created by the mask IP holder himself.
Could work as a Survivor only chapter.
-
There's no need to keep default for Trapper, after all older licenses like Leatherface, Freddy and Pig will not get any custom music, so it's not like it'll be gone.
However what they really should be doing is implementing a client-sided only music selecter feature for every killer both with menu and chase music from default, custom PTB (if it exist) & custom Live.
-
If the tome doesn't improve the base lore, then she has hands down the second worst Survivor lore, with only Kate surpassing her.
-
I wish flashlights could be used to light Survivors way through the dark in the mode.
-
Probably not gonna touch it just like how i'm not gonna touch Dredge as their powers are not my cup of tea.
-
-
Personally, while the Survivor role is quite frankly a pretty chill experience in most cases, the Killer role is either a hit or miss since it depends on the map you get, the Survivors you face and the killer you're playing as.
With that said however, i do tend to get good streaks of decent killer games whenever i play before getting one of those really awful and demoralizing matches.

Yeah, for sure you’re not wrong
Just could’ve been sooo much better
…annnd I LOVE realms n maps more than anything, and the Nostromo Wreckage is absolute trash (again, imo). Give us the whole ship w/o the bland outdoor garbage area. Even a separate area, or entire map of the alien planet and the egg chamber, etc.
The decisions of the flamethrowers, actual Alien character/ power design and Rip not looking like Rip are huge misses.
Jonsey may be the best part of the chapter🐈🫶🏽
If you think Nostromo Wreckage is trash, then i guarantee you that a Nostromo only map would be an even worse map to play on for multiple reasons.
-
Outside of obvious legendary outfits such as Pablo, Kelly, Ruby, Chet, Brock & Brandy, they can only really give Ash three other outfits from the Ash vs Evil Dead series which are the funeral suit from season 3 episode 3, the night out outfit from the start of season 1 episode 1 and the season 2 episode 7 varient of the asylum outfit.
I highly doubt we'll ever get any original outfits for him and anything from the movies are off-limit to the Ash we have.
-
iirc, it's something that's already a feature in the current PTB, so i assume that it'll be added once the next patch drops.
-
My main issues with Swamp is primarily with how hard it is to find the hatch and the harbor dock tile on both Pale Rose and Grim Pantry that has two windows right next to one another.
-
Both Trickster and Ghostface would work best as their own shows that would be similar to tv series Dexter.
Only problem with a Ghostface tv series however is that alot of people would probably confuse it for something that's related to Scream just like people have with Scary Movie.

Ehhh, I don't know if I want to see a "Dead By Daylights 2: Re-buy all of your dlc" in the store.
But it'd be cool for the game to get upgraded and potentially easier to update. Idk.
I feel like it might be the only solution at this point since a total rewrite of the current code would take literal years to complete and would as of consequence neglect everything else entirely until development is finished, at least we'd get to keep the skins we have through cross progression if the iteration of it that bhvr asked about in the last survey gets implemented.

That's why I said to do it with original characters, not licensed ones.
I also personally am not a fan of grind cosmetics, they're the most annoying type of cosmetics to unlock in video games as they're nothing but a giant waste of time through farming or grinding, worst is when it's something cool.
I'd rather have cosmetics be locked behind master challenges in the archive, would be way less obnoxious and time consuming to unlock.

I thought that was a reference to one of its add-ons (or maybe its lore) referring to it as an axe killer/slasher.
It is, everything about The Unknown is a reference to the many theories surrounding it in it's lore, from Add-ons, to weapon, to power and to design.
It's basically a combination of it all since it doesn't have a identity of it's own except what people give it.
-
Cosmetics are only exclusive until BHVR decides otherwise, it's not the first time they've made event cosmetics available for everyone.
That said, i'd rather they spent their time and resources on something else than on P100 rewards. Not only would cosmetics be the only thing most people would find adequete enough to be considered reward worthy, but i highly doubt it would be possible to streamline to every characters unlike bloody cosmetics which are most likely a contractually agreed upon thing.

Same things said about shooting killers before Huntress release, teleports before Hag, being in two places before Twins and bots before Nemesis. But here they are
If all Survivors had voicelines that couldn't be heard only from the client-side and they could speak to one another as a base game feature, it might have been solid enough to work as a power, however the fact remains that they do not and all that a voice mimick power would do is alert Survivors to your presence.
Also it suffers from the same fundamental problem that shapeshifting also suffers from, which is that it would be completely useless as a power against SWF.
-
Current ADS Deathslinger, landing shots feels far more satisfying and rewarding to get than what hitting with his original ADS felt like.
Also something not necessarily related to how loved or hated it was, but generally i've enjoyed all the realm beyond updates and how they've updated, removed or changed all the outdated stuff from pre-realm beyond over the years, genuinely cannot wait for bhvr to finally once and for all get rid of the remaining stuff from old dbd still present in the game.
-
Unknown's blight skin has the potential to be the best one yet, it could even surpass Dredg'es yet to be blight skin.
-
Xenomorph, without a doubt.
-
Nothing is certain, all licenses could leave for any reason, especially licensed cosmetics.
AOT was a 1 year deal and that wasn't something that was informed about until it was leaving, i expect the same thing to apply as well with the Iron Maiden cosmetics.

Cote mentioned in an interview that Tony Hawk was the first celebrity he contacted because he wanted someone who was recognisable but wholesome and unlikely to do anything bad in the future and Tony Hawk was the first person who came to his mind. He declined though because he doesn't want his image associated with any game aside from Pro Skater.
His lore would have the potential to be hilarious though. Just imaging him doing a show then the Entity is like "cool tricks but you're mine now"
Small correction: Tony Hawk didn't join because he wanted his name to be associated only with the pro-skater franchise, but because his name is legally tied to it and it alone.

I see where this is coming from but at the same time DBD branching out has given us some of our cooler chapters. There was a time back in the day when SciFi and Video Game killers were hardly mentioned in speculation because there was nothing like that in the game (aside Bill, but he wasn't talked about much). There were even people back then that argued that including franchises like that would damage the heart of DBD's atmosphere.
Going further, the original conception of what a DBD killer could be was actually pretty limiting. Freddy still can't speak because he was designed at a time when killers weren't supposed to. I'm my opinion, the Devs pushing boundaries has only resulted in more creative killers and chapters. Before Demogorgon, a lot of people said an animalistic killer wouldn't make any sense with the deliberate nature of the trials and hooking survivors. If that mindset was still held, we wouldn't have killers like Dredge, Xeno, and now Unknown.
If all these ideas could change over the years without DBD losing it's focus on horror, I think we'll be fine for the future in that regard. Even the latest chapter put a bigger emphasis on horror in the marketing. So Pandora's Box may be opened, but it doesn't seem like anything is leaving it anytime soon, if that makes sense.

Thing is, there's a difference between adding things from the horror genre as a whole and adding things from outside the horror genre. Sci-Fi and Video Games are still within the horror genre while content creators and celebrities are not.
DBD has remained almost consistent with it's chapter releases being set within the horror genre only, the only exceptions to it is the inclusion of Stranger Things & Nic Cage, the only reason they're excused is because Nic Cage has strong ties to horror movies since he has acted in them and Stranger Things is horror adjacent.
If we start doing chapters about IPs that are outside the horror genre, then it will losing itself on a thematic level and eventually become a mish mash of different genres rather than staying true to the horror genre like a horror game should.

My problem is not about gameplay, in fact they need to keep pushing boundaries on that front to come up with new powers.
My problem lies primarily with the thematic end of things, just because you can do or add something, doesn't it mean that you should.

The only thing that has changed is dbd expanding itself into other parts of the horror genre, which is why outside of skins, it is still primarily horror focused and secondarily horror-adjacent focused to this day
The moment we allow for IPs or celebrities from outside the horror genre or content creators in general to be added, then yes, the game will lose it's horror focus eventually.

Same. Nicolas Cage was fine but I'd rather it be a character from something horror related than random actors/singers.
I'm 50/50 on Nic Cage, while his inclusion as himself is not out of left field considering him playing himself in movies as well as in horror movies, the precedent his inclusion sets is something i'm not a fan of.
Because of his inclusion, people now have a justification and excuse to try and bring in other real life people, outside of this thread having people who wants celebrities like Lady Gaga or Michael Jackson in dbd, i've already seen some trying to get people like James from Dead Meat or Otz as Survivors, so we constantly keep pushing the line.
How long before we start bringing in any popular content creator or vtubers for creator skins? or random celebrities that have nothing to do with horror or movies in general?
If we start broadening what should and shouldn't be added into the game outside of horror, DBD will just end up turning into Fortnite on a thematic level.
-
I'd rather we kept the inclusion of real life people or celebrities to a minimum unless they're playing a character related to the horror genre.
-
I am firmly against mobile cosmetics that can be shared with all characters.
Mobile cosmetics are outfits created with their own theme to fit as many as possible, rather than being unique cosmetics created specifically to fit one character and no one else like how it is on core.
As soon as we start doing the former, we'll lose the latter overtime and i do not wish for that to happen as it will kill any uniqueness that exist for Survivors, it goes especially for the uniform type cosmetics on mobile.
Overall, keep it out of core.
-
According to one of the devs, the reason is because that year's Halloween tome cinematic took priority over the character tome's cinematics.

i have feeling it will go live.
Even if it does, it's going to be reverted as soon as Huntress starts overperforming enough.
-
Comp mode would be a waste of time and resources since majority of people would still be playing and sweating in casual over comp, just because other games have it doesn't mean DBD needs to have it as well.
Teammate perk visibility would bring more cons than pros and the only people who would benefit from it are SWF who don't need it anyway, where as solo players would get dodged by more people for using any perks that either isn't meta, perks that are bad or perks that someone simply just don't like, it also wouldn't suddenly make your teammates play any better than how they currently are.
Operation Health would be a massive undertaking that would take years to finish, which in the meantime would as a result neglect everything else until it's done, even then it would still be a constant on-going effort afterwards as one big patch isn't enough to ''fix'' the game.
Cosmetics are done by a different team, even if they stopped making cosmetics, it wouldn't make things go faster or increase quality of patches.

PTB huntress is same as old deathslinger but with less counter-play. Her throwing movement speed makes her lose barely any distance when holding a hatchet.
Huntress hatchet hitbox is like 2x size of deathslinger's gun and requires you to strafe. So you lose distance for trying to dodge the hatchet now.
All of which won't make it to live in the end.

Well yea, and I’m saying that they went too far with the nerf. I would understand nerfing the instascop or the terror radius, but not both.
In that respect, i can agree that his terror radius could use a buff and that they might have overdone it back then.
As long as the ADS remains as it is, they can buff Deathslinger in any way they want for all i care.
-
ADS: the devs got rid of his instacscope to increase “skillful” gameplay, so I see no reason as to why he can’t have more control while aiming.
That's not the reason why they got rid of it, the reason it was removed was because killers would constantly spam m2 while in chase which resulted in Survivors being put into lose-lose situations.
It got so bad that it reached the point where people complained about Deathslinger on an almost daily basis on the forum until it got changed.

I agree with this. Of course I understand people want casual skins for him. I do too at times. But the next biopunk skin imo will be the most casual looking outfit from his time period. If you played cyberpunk 2077, some npcs wear stuff like that.
But at the end of the day, I'm fighting for a shirtless skin anyways for him. Call me basic, but I want it
Gabe's upcoming Biopunk cosmetic may be his most casual looking cosmetic so far, but it's also his most metal looking outfit as well, which fits right in with the fact that we just got Iron Maiden cosmetics.
Also i wouldn't mind a space theme'd T-Shirt similar to the one in Mass Effect that Shepard wears on the Citadel, clothing from Cyberpunk (both casual, weird and unique) would also be pretty neat as well.
-
The menu music plays for Survivors too when the Iron Maiden shirt is equipped.
-
Unless it's been officially confirmer to be cancelled like how the funko pops were cancelled, it is not true.
Most likely it is simply just scheduled to be released later this year.
-
No, Dredge & Unknown has basically nothing in common and both of their maps being in the same realm means nothing (just like how Huntress & Plague's maps being in the same realm doesn't mean anything with each other lorewise.)
The Dredge is a boogeyman made real as an amalgamation of people and all their negative thoughts while The Unknown is an urban legend with no real origin or form and that nobody really knows anything concrete about it's existence or if it's even real, even when it comes for someone who tries to visualize it, it only takes the form of what the person imagined it as.
@Huge_Bush said:
I don’t think it’s stated. I personally think they’re different. Dredge is created by the entity and The Unknown came to life from negative energy that comes off of people’s emotions like how the Cursed Spirits are given life by negative emotions in Jujutsu Kaisen.
The Unknown has nothing to do with negative energy, we basically know nothing concrete about it (hence it's name being the unknown) except that visualizing it summons it to your location to kill you and steal your voice in the form it was visualized as.
-
I'm inclined to agree with OP to a certain degree.
While i don't think the skins themselves are bad (far from), having custom audio related to the killer's powers would have added that extra flavor to them that would have made them even better.
-
My expectations lies more on what it won't do.
- The game won't do a health focused patch (It is an unrealistic thing to expect to happen at this point since it will take several years to accomplish and it will neglect everything else until it is done.)
- The game won't be dead.
- The game won't start doing full non-horror licensed chapters.
- The game won't be owned by a different company.
- The game's community will still remain the same.

I don't have an issue with Vittorio getting modern cosmetics—in fact I vastly prefer them. I was merely pointing out that I've seen some other people share those opinions and this could be a reason why Behaviour are being so strict with the theming of Gabriel's cosmetics.
And in terms of casual cosmetics, I meant just simple stuff that doesn't have a "theme". I've noticed a big trend that certain survivors always seem to have rigidly themed cosmetics in terms of prints or decals, like Kate having guitars on her Cozy Break cosmetic, or Jeff nearly always having metal band logos on his like he does in that same collection. This neglects any other aspect of their personalities and/or lore in favour of one idea repeated again and again. Not all of Kate's cosmetics have to be music-themed. Not all of Ace's have to be gambling-themed. Not all of Jeff's have to be metal-themed. Not all of Gabriel's have to be sci-fi-themed.
I know, i was moreso referring to the people who do have a problem with Vittorio getting modern clothing.
As long as we don't end up with cosmetics similar to the ones in dbd mobile where it's cosmetics designed with their own themes to fit as many characters as possible rather than a unique outfit designed specifically to fit a single specific character like it is with core cosmetics, i'm fine with giving them casual clothing.
Also when i say casual clothing that is space theme'd, i'm mainly thinking of casual clothing as seen in other sci-fi games such as Mass Effect.
-
I fully expect this collab to be another 1 year deal only just like AOT was.
