Eventually, yes. Without that risk in a chase, there's not much fun in the chase from either perspective.
Game mechanics are best when they have a risk of chance and a risk of failure, and since this is a game with one player versus another (versus another, versus another, versus another) both sides need a chance to succeed - and if the ideal chase was neither screwing up and the survivor never getting downed, other survivors would never get chased for their evader points and the killer would never be rewarded for their participation by losing out on both chaser and lightbringer points. There'd be no point to anything but meta play from the survivor side, and no real drive from the killer side.
The game already favors killers for the majority of all players. Even with 5 good average players, killer still has a huge advantage to win. Why would you want the killer to also have a huge advantage (almost guaranteed) chance of winning even if all four are good?
What would be the point in playing survivor role if your skill is meaningless?

Or you could be honest in your caricature persona, but that might rock the boat.
Reliable means "can get up to 4 kills, without relying solely on a survivor screwing up, preferably in a way that means both survivor and killer actually got to participate" - a balanced killer fulfilling that ideal would typically not get those 4 kills, trending toward 6-10 hook games.
Is it fair for survivor to go down/lose if they don't screw up?

Killer is absolutely not the power role. Killers are only considered the power role in what would now be called low-MMR games - survivors have 16 perks to the killer's 4, with training wheels and safety nets galore. There's a reason the "all killers are viable" schtick isn't taken seriously by anyone with enough experience in the game; even the top tiers of killers aren't reliable at the top matchmaking.
"Reliable" for killer mains means any killer should win every single game. Killer is not supposed to win every game.
-
This is a survivor problem so don't ever expect anything to be done about it. They actually removed the hatch to increase slugging for a 4K. I have yet to see a killer not slug for the 4K when I was the 4th one. Just walk up to the killer and ask to be killed. Extremely killer sided game.
-
No. The game is broken for those playing solo. If you'll notice, only really good practiced coordinated SWF teams can increase their MMR. The game is extremely broken in favor of killers.
I actually tried playing a killer earlier and waited 10 minutes and gave up. Survivors need a lot of buffs so the game is fair.

Don't understand how it's so hard to just do everything there is to do in a match. If you just do gens, then you're only doing like 25% of what their is to actually do. Totems, unhooking and healing, chases. Doing all of that means you get just as much as killer, who has to chase, defend and destroy gens, hook survivors, and kill survivors. Killers don't always get to do all those things, just like survivors don't always get to do all those things. Thing is it's usually because survivors are gen rushing, but sometimes it's because killer just isn't breaking off from a chase.
Even a mediocre killer will prevent you from doing much in the match. Play a random solo match, on average everyone gets less than 10K while the killer gets an astonishing 30K or more. The survivor objective is way too difficult to do because killers can apply too much pressure with so many objectives the survivors must do.
This issue is then compounded when killers have perks that literally win the game for them.
-
First of all, survivor is not the easy mode of the game.
Secondly, I see way more killers bming than I do survivors. It's very rare to see a nice killer. Maybe once or twice a week kind of rare.
-
I'm speaking from experience. Game is in an horrendous state for survivor side.

that's honestly his best feature. Drown the survivors in objectives!
While the killer only has 1 very simple objective. Someone needs to explain how that is fair.
-
Survivors have to do 3 hard objectives with this killer, plus all of the objectives trying to coordinate and survive. Solos automatically lose to this killer like they do to Blight.
Must do 5 hard to do gens.
Find totems to eliminate overpowered Ruin/Undying/NOED
Find the Lament Configuration constantly.

Unless you were complaining about hoarder before the release of pinhead, it's not hoarder that would need to be nerfed at all
Yea, pinhead is strong with it, so do gens or die
It's impossible to do gens against a decent Pinhead with this.

you realize there's professionals like probbz which plays solo survivor and escapes like 8/10 games and loops the kkiller for atleast 3-4 gens every game right? and that everybody can get just as good as that guy
The issue is, it is extremely, extremely rare to see someone loop a killer 3-4 gens. Even if that happens it is debatable the killers he is versing is really not that good. On the other hand, it is common to see killers turn a match into a bloodbath. My argument is that it is way too easy to be a good killer. I don't like how much is required from a survivor to do well. It's an unfair disadvantage. You need your 3 survivors to be awesome and you need the killer to be horrible at the game.
-
The best solution is to nerf his saw so it's only 1 health state. Or drastically increase the skill required to use it.
It's overpowered for the effort needed to use it.

he didnt have just a chance at winning he won 85% of the time dont be delusional sluzzy I can go 0lay with my friends rn and win like 75-80% of my games probably more if we all had good perks like bt and ds and we only have maybe 1000 hours when all added together we just know the game it's quite easy to loop killers these days for atleast 3 gens
That doesn't say anything other than 4 experienced survivors against casual killers, some of whom may be playing dailies where you still only won 75%. Now, play random solo matches and you'll see very quickly how weak survivors are. Your survival rate will plummet to around 5-10%. Killer mains don't talk about this because they don't have the balls to play this way. They only play killer or with their 3 friends "helping them out".
I've watched Otz play a lot. Whenever he play solo he loses a hella a lot more than when he plays killer. That's terrible balance.
-
If the game was more fair and easier for the survivor side, you would have a greater population of survivors at the higher MMR. Unfortunately the game is way too hard for survivors to escape.
-
You are just accustomed to ez 4Ks with them. Learn to play without them so survivors have a chance.
-
I love how he said "We all have over 5K hours on average, we are not that good".
Expecting all killers to win easily against these kind of survivors is what he actually wants. Unbelievable.
A game requiring spending years of your life, becoming acquainted with PRO LEVEL friends to have a chance at winning is not balanced. In fact, it is not fun at all to lose every match because you don't stand a chance due to killers being overpowered.
That is DBD right now.
-
The objective is already almost impossible to finish. If anything, it needs to be lessened.

Survivors have literally the best 5 perks in the game. Killers OP? Where did you get that one? Are you trolling? Or have you never seen a match of a mid-tier killer (the character, not the player) vs a good team?
Maybe just don't place your boon at the best to find totem.... A pain everyone knows who has played killer with Hexes.
And a killer doesn't have the extra time to "go and do bones". I can snuff it, when it is right next to the hook for example, but I won't bother searching for it on multiple floor maps, where you can hear the sound through the floor/ceiling. And Survivors can see their ######### safe heaven from the other side of the map.
A good killer can always wreck a team even with a low or mid-tier killer.
I literally have put a boon in the middle of some grass in an inconspicuous location on Yamaoka Estate and the killer heard it walked right to it. After wasting a half minute setting it.
-
I always said the hatch greatly reduced killrates. So if it was 70% killrate, probably 90% of the time the gates were never opened.
-
They'll always be complaints until survivors are perkless.
As overpowered as killers are, you'd think they would be some compromise.
You can't even use boon totems because killers have no cost to disable them. They can hear them from afar, and takes no time to snuff it.

Yes. When the survivor is bleeding out on the floor is the killer not supposed to have the advantage?
Advantage shouldn't be guaranteed. Now the 4th survivor has no way to win. Even if he had a key in his hand there is no way to use it. That's wrong. Why should the game design require the 4th person to surrender?

Yes it's definitely worth it, you know how much better it feels knowing someone isn't across the map crouching for 20 minutes while other crap is going on? Even survivors complain about that.
That was so much more rare than killer slugging for a 4K. Now there is no way out.
-
It's an unfun no-win situation for the survivor. Now there is no counterplay to that tactic with how keys and hatch have been nerfed.
Another killer sided mechanic.
-
Not when it takes 28 seconds to bless it. It only takes killer 1 second to snuff it. And he can hear it from far away. They don't give enough benefit to waste so much time constantly getting your perk back when killer can instantly snuff it.

This is not the time to bring stupid video game ######### into this, my guy (gal?).
NFT's are a real issue. Stupid video game balance is not. Maybe turn down the act for a second, m'kay?
Regarding NFTs, they used a P2W Licensed Killer to bring it in. Would never be a survivor because all they get is cosmetics.
-
So much Greed with P2W killers and perks. The community won't stop supporting them, I'm hoping Steam actually does something. They are the only ones that can.
-
Only if you take the game back to its roots. When the game was actually....fun.
-
You are a bad killer if you are struggling. Survivors are extremely weak as it is.
Got out of a match against an overpowered Blight earlier and the team was paralyzed. Killers need a nerf way more than survivors.

Boon totems needed to be nerfed because they were way way too strong. And they’re still gonna be great once they go live.
How were they too strong? You have to spend a lot of time to find a totem instead of doing a gen, only to get self-care and hide scratch marks in a very tiny area. It's better to use Self-Care because you don't have to spend a lot of time to find a totem, only for it to work in that tiny area.
The radius definitely didn't need nerfed. At least make the healing much faster like a green emergency medkit so it is worth all the risk.
Must not forget they are so loud the Killer doesn't even have to look for it.
-
Yes, it should have been waited to see how they would do live. Its why survivors can't have good perks, always nerfing them into uselessness.
-
It's not fun to play a video game if there is no way you can outplay your opponent.
DBD didn't become popular because the killer can always down no matter what input the survivor gives.
Survivors have already been nerfed so much that killers can down too quickly. Killers win too much right now so they need to give survivors more ways to escape chases instead of "always" going down.
-
A 2K is a good balanced match, you're not far from that.
-
If survivors aren't genrushing, killers are killrushing. Slowing the game simply makes killer easier.
MMR has caused way too much sweat so there's no time ever to waste. Killers still win way too much because survivors have to be too good to finally pull off a win.
Casuals can't manage to get gens done with how fast killers can down, usually.
-
Are we really complaining about head on, the perk with a tiny hitbox that hardly works?

we don't get much love from devs... why can't they understand this game is unbalanced for killers and survivors get always favorited in this game?
i get triggered as hell when on forums or instagram page, i read people typing "KiLlEr SiDeD GaMe!!111!!"
i mean, lol, you must be new or bad at the game to make such a statement.
There is plenty of video evidence that the game is ridiculously killer sided. All you have to do is watch Twitch and you hardly ever see survivors win. After 5 years of nothing but survivor nerfs and killer QOL patches, there is enough evidence they care very little about survivor experience, especially solos.
Survivor gameplay is totally in the dumpster as the game has evolved into nothing but a power fantasy for killers.

In my experience you cannot do that as killer either, if you consider a win a 4k. But that's good, getting the same results every time will make the game not fun.
Killers have to win every match with that kind of build, with Wraith. Killers won't talk about it.
We must keep in mind here, 3 Hexs on this large awkward map with impossible to find totems against a killer with a huge advantage in chase.
Survivors have to do 8 objectives, and killer has one simple objective.

I know it's a joke but "The Wraith was spamming his silent bell and was downing everyone in little time." Like.......aren't Killers supposed to y'know.....kill Survivors in the most efficient way possible? Killers aren't meant to make sure the Survivors have fun and vice versa, buuuuut this is Sluzzy so whatever, I'm talking to a wall.
If the game allows it to be way too efficient then it is overpowered and needs a nerf. As survivor, I can't enter a match with a guaranteed win.

Ain't that the truth. I feel like there has been a lot of oversight with the hatch changes.
Indeed. Survivor QOL is totally ignored in favor of killer.

I love force RPD with counterforce, because there is a guaranteed totem o STARS room, with that I always find every totem on this map
Against this Wraith, with that map so hard to navigate, it would take a long time and he would still have a huge advantage.
Even if that was fair counterplay, Killers had Franklins but keys were still destroyed.
-
The game has become too killer sided. Imagine being a new player and finally getting that shiney red key, only to find it is totally useless because killers will slug for the 4K.
-
Only if they are weak and worked in a tiny corner of the map and the killer had to spend a game losing 28 seconds relighting it.
-
The killer meta requires the most respect in the entire game.
Ruin: Do a second objective.
Undying: Do the second objective more.
Tinkerer: Punishment for doing the objective.
BBQ: An aura read so Blight can get to you in a new york minute (actually a couple of seconds).
-
It's not necessarily fair or balanced for a killer to level a 4 man sweat team. Killers are already mopping the floor of most matches where survivors are all dead with several gens still remaining. As solo, it is rare to see a team escape - killers are that OP already.
When survivors are nerfed hard constantly, there comes it that killers have to eventually be nerfed.
Now an alternate way of escaping has been completely removed: Keys. Another hard survivor nerf on top of an already mountain of nerfs! So killers need a lot more nerfs right now so completing all 5 gens should always be a possibility.

The cheaters are totally not afraid. I've recorded games where people were clearly hacking. I said in the end game chat I got video evidence of this whole thing. They respond with "Will you be mad if I dont get banned?"
It's definitely bad now. I use to see a cheater once every few months and now it is every day.

The hackers tell me in the lobby they are unafraid of getting banned 🙄
They've got to hardware ban these cheaters!

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/286011/why-were-boon-totems-nerfed
Boon were op on the ptb that why they got nerf. The 24 second blessing time is only on a hex perk its still going to be the regular time on a dull totem.
If you cant see how good boon are i think its because you are so hung up on your 6 survivor meta perk that you cant see how strong they are.
Ofc survivor meta will not change for that to change they will need to do a perk that can beat the survivor meta and that really hard to do because they are op. So the only other option is to nerf them to the level of the other strong perk for more variation.
There is a lot of power creep happening on the killer side, they shouldn't be any shame in making new strong perks for survivors too. You can't possibly nerf survivor meta because they are so situational and already weak, especially compared to killer meta that is so oppressive.
-
Because he needed it. He was overpowered, his lunge was so ridiculous. Why is he constantly cloaking during chase? That should be for being stealthy, not for gaining a free down. His lunge still might be too much.
