  • It is funny how you never see a survivor main posting a 50 or 100+ win streak. It's impossible.

    But yes, Artist is broken.

  • @SuzuKR said:

Why would they need a nerf?

They are too strong stacked together.

It unfairly removes too much of the survivor objective for simply doing the killer objective which in the current state of the game is expected for killers to easily get hooks. It also unfairly punishes casuals trying to enjoy the game.

Imagine completing a gen to gain an extra life or cause the person on the hook to not lose dying process. That is how bad these perks are.

  • Because a killer is not played often doesn't mean it shouldn't be nerfed.

There is so much wrong with Artist I have nowhere to even begin.

    Very unfun killer.

Who thought it was a good idea for the crows to have a white aura when swarming....so it makes it soooo easy for Artist to land a shot even across the map? That alone screams "broken".

  • I see this as the killer is guilty of tunneling, yet the survivor is punished for missing a very hard skillcheck. It is ironic to punish the survivor for something the killer is doing and for poor performance of the game.

Ideally the perk should be usable when the survivor decides. It doesn't warrant having such a painfully small skillcheck since there is nothing that good and special about the perk anymore. It needs to be bigger.

  • Don't forget Bubba 100% prevents unhooking.

They really need to add unhook validation. Too many times I have even baited an unhook with a facecamper, only to find that my survivor body has resumed normal position and was grabbed anyway. So it is technically next to impossible to unhook (facecampers rewarded) due to server lag. Once again, the killer seems to have a priority when it comes to grabs.

Prove thyself, brand new parts, spine chill, and resilience is not? Not even gonna mention the stacked meta perks that go along with that.

POP is still way more than all of those combined. 25% and it is a perk. BNP is only 15% and you have to use an ultra rare item. Basically, the one killer perk trumps all of that.

And it can be used an infinite number of times too. BNP is one time and its gone forever.

  • P2W perk.

Stacking is what really is unhealthy and unfun. Ruin, Deadlock, and NOED to secure the ending 4K. It is an unhealthy advantage.

  • They definitely don't balance around new players as you suggested. Survivors have to not only be expert loopers, have good perks, and being unafraid to work on gens out in middle of an open dead zone. Even with the proper survivors, you have a low chance of escaping. It depends on how good is the killer and which perks he is using.

  • Something should be done about that because no matter how good you are as survivor, if you are tunneled to death, you are punished with no points, no PIPS, and lower MMR. Granted the MMR tests might yield to them completely scraping MMR which would get some applause.

It is not fair to be punished outside your control. There needs to be a lot more ways to defend against tunneling. For solo survivors especially.

Ah, Sluzzy. Nerf it because it is overpowered. I do actually play both sides so I know each side has some valid complaints. Dead Hard is definitely one of the valid complaints on the killer side.

It is definitely not overpowered. A perk in a survival game that gives a "small" lunge to dodge an attack is no way OP.

I play both sides too and killers win an overwhelming majority of the time.

  • @TheSubstitute said:

Deah Hard definitely needs a nerf. It is far more powerful than any other survivor perk. It can save survivors multiple times more than DS or BT in a series of matches.

After doing so, however, we'll probably see nerfs on the killer side as Dead Hard is increasing escape rates. With it taken out, kill rates will rise and BHVR will nerf killers to bring them back in line to desired levels.

I'm completely fine with that. Personally, I think the game needs to be rebalanced. In my opinion, tunneling and camping needs to be less efficient, gen speeds need to be slower, DH and NOED need nerfs, etc.

With MMR, the balance problems that emblems were masking came to the forefront. Before, the 4 hook 4 kill facecamper could not mechanically make it to ranks 1 to 4 since the emblem system encouraged multiple hooks and chasing to progress. Now, with only kills being counted, the most efficient way to get kills is emphasized which helped highlight balance problems (and the fact that tunneling and camping is not fun to the majority of players).

So, in my opinion, rebalance the game and, while doing so, please nerf Dead Hard (and gen speeds, NOED, tunneling and camping).

So nerf a survivor perk because killers can't bait it out? Or because some good survivors know how to use it properly?

Survivors don't need any more nerfs until killer perks are nerfed. What really is OP is a good killer using slowdown perks. Survivors don't have a chance at all in those matches with such a limited number of pallets and gens unable to get done.

DH is only popular because it is a bit more fun to use than the other exhaustion perks. Not that it is more overpowered. I've tried Overcome and that perk is incredible and underrated, but not necessarily fun and it is really pointless against a 1-shot killer like Bubba.

Survivor meta is already strong, new perks can not change it.

If more perks were really good then more variety. I've hardly seen anyone use Dark Theory. A negligible speed boost in a small area that the killer can easy snuff is not good.

  • Survivors need perks that actually help in a trial. And without nerfing those that might actually be used, such as Circle of Healing and Lucky Break.

I would not slug for the 4K if I did not know that the 3rd Survivor hooked will force his death to give the final one hatch.

But since they WILL, and I have every damn right to try for a 4K; I'll slug. And no; it's not 'super cheesy', because it's literally the only way I can try for that 4K without the 3rd Survivor flipping me off and dying on hook.

Nothing, anywhere, says I have to give the Survivor an even-odds chance at the hatch. Moreso when they can be humping the damn thing while I hook their friend, who then offs himself before I've taken 3 steps.

Calling slugging 'super cheesy' is just another way to shame Killers into following an arbitrary set of rules that favor Survivors because they want easier wins. 'Don't slug; it's cheesy. Hook them so they can off themselves & give the hatch to their friend. Because THAT is the fair way to do it!'

No; that's the unintelligent way to do it.

'I am practically betting that the people who say "be happy with the 3k" did so because you slugged the 3rd survivor and then spend 3 minutes looking for the final one.'

Nope! Most the time, it's a Survivor insulting me because I did not give hatch to the final Survivor. It's just the recent buzz-phrase to shame Killers into following fake rules.

There may not be a rule that you can't do that but it is bad manners to slug for minutes only to have a 4K. It drags the match out longer than it should and it is not fun for the one on their belly crawling around doing nothing.

  • @Tiufal said:

Its nothing new that killer players expect this game to be a slasher-simulator. They are entitled to be the winner and nothing else.

It is already there. The 4 survivors are on the map for the entertainment of the killer.

  • @Bladeisbest said:

I never expect a 4k. I expect to not see 4 Dead Hards every single match though....................

That goes both ways....it would be a breath of fresh air to spawn on a map and not see Entity claws on a gen, or Ruin, or POP. And now Dead Man's Switch.

  • @eaebree said:

I play solo q and i escape 8 out of 10 matches 😂 idk who needs to get good here

    That is definitely not true.

  • @Blasphemy_Kitten said:

I can agree with this to an extent. Solo queue as Survivor is one of the most miserable experiences in this game, but this post does feel very exaggerated. Both sides have a lot of issues, as I've found from playing only a few times as a killer. I found myself genuinely getting angrier playing as killer against toxic survivors than as a survivor against toxic killers. 50% of matches are ruined by teammates when I solo queue just sabotaging or not doing objectives, so it still mostly is in part to survivors being awful.

Your struggles against a SWF is really more of your lack of experience as killer as you said you only played killer a few times. You were probably unfairly matched as well so that is really not because survivors are strong, but they were very experienced.

If the game was more fair and doing some of the objective was more rewarding, you would find better survivor morale. The killer meta oppresses the objective. It is not very encouraging, neither is it very reinforcing to bust your rumps to get the objective done by a miracle simply to lose to NOED and NO Way Out. The playing field needs to be fair and it is not right now.

  • As in any other game even in those in real life sports, play your best and accept the outcome and improve from there. If you go in as killer with the mentality "I must play easy and must 4K", you will be disappointed and not have fun.

It’s amazing that there are so many more survivors than killers (sometimes 50:1 at peak times) when survivor is so miserable and killer is so easy. Super weird!

50:1 is a huge stretch and how do you even know. Right now is peak time and survivor queue is so much faster than killers.

  • As long as MMR stays in the game and constantly nerfing and ruining survivor gameplay, it will continue to lose players.

New players are dead upon arrival.

Game is not fun sweaty. That is not why it became popular.

  • Michael Myers for sure. Scare factor, stealth, and has a powerful 1-shot ability on demand. Has add-ons that are actually add-ons.

  • Very true. Solo Q is very easy prey for killers. There's no gates being opened if the killer tryhards a little bit.

A consequence of 6 years of survivor nerfs and killer buffs and extremely oppressive and unfair killer perks.

  • That is all great but we basically in a Iron Will vs. Spirit situation. Forcing the use of Technician isn't that good. I'd rather Tinkerer be reworked into something different.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2889696#Comment_2889696

But do you consider her to be OP? That she needs a nerf?

Or is she fine as of right now?

No, she's already been nerfed. From 5 blinks to only 2.

Survivors are a bit weak against a good Nurse because of slowdown perks. And aura perks are very strong.

  • I couldn't disagree more I must say. You need to play random matches before deciding on the power level of killers.

The killer meta breaks killers into overpowered territory. But overall survivors are weak. If all 4 can't make it until the end, the chances of anyone escaping reaches zero due to how the hatch works now and the EGC is just grabbing the hand of a killer. And of course, it is easy for killers to slug.

  • It is bad. It's a trojan horse perk to help killers. Nobody has time to look everywhere for a totem for a measly self-care.

    I'll use Self-Care. You can't snuff it. :)

Yes. Because the matchmaking system won't make you wait in a 45 minute queue, so after a while you start getting matched lower and lower.

Wouldn't that mean it is too difficult to rank up as survivor?

    Hi Sluzzy.

    Assuming you aren't being...Sluzzy here:

    • Otz is probably MMR capped or as near as dammit, meaning that he's mostly facing survivors of a lower skill than him (and occasionally tourney level comps and other semi pros). Yes, he's going to win a lot. The interesting question is - how much, proportionally, on different killers?
    • Pre MMR he was able to do 50. Now he capped out at 30, on a high tier killer (Artist) if I recall - and again, it's Otz. If the MMR system insisted on matching him against only survivors at his experience level, he'd be waiting for hours.
    • Looking at the site (assuming it's accurate) she's at 51%, making her pretty damn weak. Where are you getting 65% from?

If he MMR capped, then he should be getting the best survivors playing. He is still winning most of his games.

  • If it spawned 2 pallets, I don't see that as an issue because the map now joins the ranks of Autohavens for having large deadzones, especially in the middle of the maps. Of course I will have to play on it myself to know for sure but I think this map is now tilted in favor of killers. If you are not in a house, there is no stealth and there is not many pallets in the middle areas. The houses appear unsafe as well.

The map looks pretty but it will now be unfun to play on.

  • Long winstreaks should be rare. If you can win 50 games in a row, we have balance problems. Normally when I watch Otz he is always winning.

Now for Sadako her power is teleporting and stealth. Not every killer needs to be anti-loop anti-counterplay type of killer.

I'm sure her kill stats are over 65% so she is more than adequate.

  • @kaskader said:

@Sluzzy Complain about dead man's switch perk that promotes going for hooks but when they nerf it please don't cry about killer tunneling and camping.

Boil over was changed because it was ridiculously abusable on some maps. Devs needed to nerf it.

Deadhard is outdated cheap perk that needs a nerf and it seems like majority of the community agrees on that.

And like you said its also absurdly overused.

BBQ and NOED came from the same era as DH. That makes those cheap and outdated, and quite overused.

    You mean the killer community?

Go ahead and nerf DH, you are going to have fun chasing Overcome and Sprint Burst users. Mark my post right here with a big star, they'll be a flood of "Nerf Sprint Burst threads"

    Killers are never happy.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2883347#Comment_2883347

Arguing something needs to be changed because it is used a lot isn't a good argument for anything, but there's plenty of reasons for why Dead Hard should be nerfed with actual reasoning. But, some people seem to prefer to ignore those reasons and, equally, focus on the one thing that makes no sense, which is "because it's used a lot" Two equally dumb arguments. And no one complained about Demo using STBFL because, all things considered, it still didn't make him that strong. After they made changes to him, people actually stopped running the perk on him - so they went after the killers power itself rather than the perk. You certainly don't see many Demo's these days.

And I guess you missed the patches before this one that did focus on survivors and their perks. I guess the real baffling part is thinking if one side gets buffs or nerfs, the other side has to or they just hate x and y is OP

There is no other reasons to nerf DH other than it is used a lot. The argument that it gives free distance to a pallet doesn't hold much water when you look at Sprint Burst or Overcome, both of which give much greater distances.

Killers don't like the perk because they want easy games, where the survivor has no defenses or utility in chase.

However, there are plenty of reasons for nerfing killer perks (such as Solo Queue being proven unable to overcome).

If you are speaking of the previous patch, they buffed Boil Over and nerfed it back to uselessness.

They buffed Dead Man's Switch so it is unfun and broken, it is ignored.

  • Because something is used doesn't mean it needs a change or nerfed. It needs to be looked at why it is used and perhaps make perks similar to it. The player has control over the perk, and it is fun to use. It is nowhere as powerful as Overcome or Sprint Burst but those perks simply are automatic and not as enticing to use. But killers, like yourself, blows the usage and power of DH completely out of proportion.

It reminds me why Demogorgon loves to use Save the Best for Last. He has control over the perk giving him a very powerful edge. Why are you not wanting that perk nerfed?

By your admission, because it is used a lot, slow down perks need a very heavy and large nerf hammer because they are "spammed" in every game.

They are literally buffing two killers in the next patch. Survivors are getting no buffs of any kind which is baffling. So many perks that could be buffed but all the focus is on killers.

  • @Sludge said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2881822#Comment_2881822

And yet they'll still be bad, unless BHVR can teach them how to loop or afk on a generator

They could alternatively lower the skill requirements.

  • It is already balanced around 4 man SWF. As someone said, you don't balance around new or bad killers. If you are losing to a SWF you need to improve your gameplay.

  • @MilManson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2881036#Comment_2881036

You say that like the typical survivor main that's never actually played the killer.

    Dead hard.

    Boons.

    Oppressive DS.

    Gen speeds.

    Huge maps.

    Medkits.

    Repair kits.

Oh and let's not forget how every map is filled with infinites, god pallets into a jungle gym, into another pallet loop and into another jungle gym.

They need to reduce the amount of hook stages to kill survivors to two, 3 per survivor is too much now when gens can be done in mere minutes.

I just tunnel people to death now because playing fair gives you no kills and the survivors a free escape.

None of those are strong. DS is literally the most counterable perk in the game. If you find it oppressive it means you are a compulsive tunneler. Dead Hard can be baited. Maps are actually too small because high mobility killers with oppressive meta builds are too overpowered for normal teams to have a chance at winning.

How can a medkit be too strong in a survivor horror game? I'm sorry to break this news to you but if you are losing to medkits, it means you are losing a lot of chases. It is the killer's fault if they are healing.

The game actually holds the hand for the killer when chases are too long: vaults are blocked when the survivor repeatedly outplays a killer. Bloodlust, a free mechanic to help killers, makes you move faster when you take too long to outplay a survivor.

Tunneling needs a nerf too. There is actually no counterplay to be tunneled. The game says you lost although the killer decided to make it a 1v1.

  • @Starrseed said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2881036#Comment_2881036

Sure easiest it has ever been. Killer suffer from bad balincing bad map balance unfair swf advantages but hey its super easy.

I still don't know if you are

    A. A fkn troll

    Or

    B. You really think what you say is real

In case of B I'm sorry for you if even half of the stuff you say here would get into the game you could enjoy your "perfect" game for roughly a month and the you'll have a q simulation because no killers are left

The argument can also be turned around, where majority of survivors lose because of bad balancing. A casual team shouldn't have to deal with an overpowered Blight for example. Majority of survivors are unable to overcome all the slowdown perks killers use, and exposed perks like OP starstruck and even Devour Hope can win a killer a game.

But I think killers want every match to be ez without having to put much effort into it.

  • Dead Hard is only a problem for bad killers. I certainly don't see it literally winning games like the killer meta.

The fact is it is the only skillfull exhaustion perk needing precision of use to make it work, if it even works at all. Equipping the perk doesn't automatically give the survivor a win, hence it is not even overpowered.

It is meta because most survivor perks are garbage.

  • You are the killer and it's really your job to prevent the genrushing through pressuring the gens. Killer is the easiest it has ever been.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

Billy Nurse Deathslinger Spirit. Ruin Undying.

    Your argument is invalid.

Survivors complain more and get the results way faster.

That is blatantly false. It took "years" to nerf Billy, Nurse, Spirit, and Deathslinger. Undying was the most OP perk in the game and it still is OP. Ruin was actually buffed.

Both Billy and Nurse is still very strong. Billy mains simply play blight because....well, he is just completely broken and above everything else in the entire game with his exploits and such. How many years will it take before he is nerfed?

CoH was nerfed 3 times and now again within only weeks due to "Popular Demand..."

We all know who BHVR caters to.

  • I can agree 100% with this title. The squeaky wheel gets the grease too.

Looks in a typical DBD match: Everyone on their bellies at 4 or 5 gens left.

Killer has 4 slowdown perks in the endgame tally screen or some EXPOSED killer perks mixed in with slowdown while survivor has a worthless healing perk.

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

Sluzzy, please watch some really experienced cracked DBD killer streamers. You'll see how awesome they are at spreading pressure through injuring mutliple survivors, and also how fast that pressure dies away 'cause of 1 boon totem.... that gets reblessed so many freakin' times.

Like I said, those cracked players are not supposed to win "every" match. Likewise, please watch some survivor streamers where they played well but it all gets taken away because of NOED. Or how Tinkerer hand held the killer to the last gen being worked on.
