I did forget about the exploits. I saw them recently, they seem very strong indeed. Playing without the exploits definitely makes him more fair.
I think he is still too overpowered even if they fixed the exploits. He has no penalty to using his power, and they regain almost instantly. That is not fair to verse.
-
He is definitely not fine. He is high mobility with 5 chances to hit you, with virtually no cooldown after his power has ended. A Blight has no counterplay due to his exploits.
Add in the killer meta and the survivors usually don't have a chance. Worst balance there is.

Yeah, I honestly really don't get the hate for Pinhead.
Getting downed from a possessed chain actually feels fair (unlike Trickster, Nemesis, Artist, etc) and the box keeps matches feeling fresh.

It's actually not that hard to find out where the box is, Sluzzy. Plus, there's actually something you can do to deal with Pinhead finding the box.
If you crouch as he picks it up, you won't scream or be chained.
That is the big problem, why is it so easy for him to find the box? That should be next to impossible.

Are there any killers you enjoy playing against?
Michael sometimes. Unless he, too, is camping or using a massive slowdown build and nobody can do anything.
-
Extreme slowdown.
Killers already have massive slowdown perks, his power is a slowdown, and he has anti-loop on top of all that.
And somehow Pinheads that I face know where the cube is and it becomes a train wreck, especially solo Q.
You can't even solve the box when chains are hunting.

Then you can take the hit because you have dead hard, or, if you're injured you can Dead Hard for that distance and make it to that pallet, that's one scenario
But if you are injured and used Dead Hard, it wouldn't give you enough distance.
-
@Tr1nity said:

But Sprint Burst only prevents the first hit, say your caught at a gen, with a Pallet nearby. Sprint Burst will be wasted because you need to run to the pallet, but you would have made it Sprint Burst or not. Use Dead hard when it's convienient.
What if you couldn't arrive to the pallet without the Sprint? There's even a chance Dead Hard wouldn't give enough distance, making Sprint Burst stronger.
-
@Tr1nity said:

Yes, exposed beats Dead Hard, but Myers and Ghosty aren't gonna be problems that much, but Dead Hard for distance means that baiting the Dead Hard is pointless.
And that less distance is nothing because it's often enough to get to that pallet or vault.
Getting the perk is not something done in a trial, and something the killer has no control over.
The perk should help you, just not render the killer completely pointless until you press "E"
It is still no different than Sprint Burst. Sprint Burst avoids or delays hit like Dead Hard does.
-

sprint burst
(Here I go with the headers again...)
Ok sure, Dead Hard gives less distance than Sprint burst, however, Dead Hard can be activated whenever you want to. If Sprint Burst was an activatable perk it would beat Dead Hard easily.
that other thing you said
There is a reason Dead Hard is so hated by killers, and it's the same reason NoED is hated by survivors. It's cheap, allows you to reap so much while sowing basically nothing, and can't necessarily be outplayed. (And don't even tell me how you expect anyone that isn't a 3-4 man SWF to get all totems done before all totems) You can't do anything to prevent Dead Hard.
free distance
Dead Hard also lets you take so many more risks because, well, see above. Feel free to try to loop that car again, because Dead Hard will let you. People can be so much riskier, and while it doesn't reward bad gameplay, it completely mitigates the downside of bad gameplay.
should looping be a thing?
Yes*
*But there should be a risk. Dead Hard completely removes that risk.
There is a huge cost to Dead Hard being activatable: less distance. There is a lot of risk to dead hard, as killers can bait it out (most of the time) or a 1-shot killer like Myers totally makes it void. Sprint Burst wins in both scenarios.
Why are we saying free distance instead of earned distance? You earned the perk, it should help you.
I don't see how Dead Hard is comparable to NOED. NOED makes you stronger for losing the entire game. Survivors don't have strong perks like killer perks.
Look how Parental Guidance compares to the new activatable Ruin perk with tinkerer built-in.
-
And it covers way less distance than Sprint Burst.
The perk is absolutely fine, it is supposed to help in a chase. It is almost like saying survivors are not supposed to run, evade, or dodge the killer.
-
Not as much as the slowdown, camp and tunnel meta.
-
RNG is more often that not is in killer's favor. What's worse is cleansing 4 totems and Ruin is still not found and the killer wins easily because of it. Or, NOED is that last totem tucked away in an inconspicuous location.
The killer can also spawn near a survivor, down someone quickly, and the game is now in killer's favor.
-
If we are going to nerf something because it is used too much, look no further than BBQ. The most used perk of all time.
Instead of nerfing dead hard, they need to release more perks that are worth using. A watered down DBD is not all that exciting if you ask me.
Parental Guidance is not how you do that. There is nothing in any of these new perks that help whatsoever against the killer.

Yes they have. But if you see the doctor - all the time - you walk to the other side of the map.
He only finds you if you are in his terror radius when he blasts.
Also you see Blight and Wraith - all the time - so what you are doing? Walk to the other side of the map maybe? See a pattern here?
The thing is if you purposely always avoid the killer you'll lose the game. You have to do the gens in order to escape. The doctor will be there blasting where he thinks you are and his terror radius can be very large, even larger with addons.

Are you pretending or do you really not understand it?
BBQ shows you the auras only for 6 seconds - if you see the killer walking in your direction after the hook you just can walk away.
But if you see the killer all the time you just can evade him - all the time. He will not find you with this.
Doctor always know where you are, is that fair? Let's not pretend killers don't always know where survivors are located.
Blight also has an aura addon that. Wraith too.

I actually believe they can't, but even if they could, the Survivor gets a lot more out of it than the Killer does.
That's not true, killer gets a lot more benefit from aura reading. Knowing where survivors are located with BBQ is a tremendous benefit. It is almost gamebreaking. The only thing survivors can do with an aura is react.
-
@jokere98 said:

Killer can't see survivors aura in this situation. Only survivor get infinite aura reading
They are wasting half of their build for an aura reading. Killers still have BBQ and other addons that show auras.
-
It is not a big deal, the killer can see the survivor auras. It is not game breaking enough to warrant killswitching it.
Besides, the two perks are useless on their own.
-
You can blame that on MMR and nerfing everything fun in the game. And you mean survivor nerfs?
Parental Guidance too strong, must nerf. I've tried the perk and killers have eyes and ears.
Circle of Healing is so weak now that it is hardly better than self-care.
Killrush killer vs. SWF genrush is not really fun so that is probably causing players to leave or not play as much (like myself).
-
This is escalating.

Sluzzy bestie things like Buckle Up, Exponential, Dark Sense, Guardia, etc all exist and you think this is the worst?
They can all be clumped together in the horrible category 😨

Yeah, it might be the worst perk in the game. Should be 7% minimum with a larger radius or last longer after leaving the area.

How is she overpowered?
It should be very possible given people don’t know her counterplay yet.
She's way too easy and oppressive. She's like pre-nerfed Freddy but better. Teleport quickly and I've seen her speed boost after emerging from a TV and I was actually using Sprint Burst and she still hit me during a sprint burst. That is not a good feeling. If the killer is moving that fast, it needs to be toned down so it is fair.
Gen defense perks on her and aura perks are going to be a nightmare.
-
That's because she's very overpowered. Adept on first game should be next to impossible.
-
That is sad about your cousin and I hope they are OK. However, I don't think it is reasonable to claim BHVR almost killed them. That is really a user responsibility to decide if a game (which naturally has flashy lightning) is safe to use. Flashlights have an on/off switch, they are going to turn on and off. That should all be considered.

Sluzzy with all due respect, I've heard you play a lot of Nurse so I think you of all ppl should know why Dead Hard is considered so strong
It's one of the only perks that helps against her in chase. Same with Blight, everyone's favourite.
To be fair, BBQ is strong on Blight and Nurse so it somewhat balances that out.
-
The supposedly most OP perk is totally nothing when killers bait it out. It's actually not that strong of a perk. There's plenty of Megs dead harding into walls.
-
@Lucent said:
The game is so tilted in favor of survivors that when they complain it does seem petty.
I suppose that is why killers win a majority of the time.
-
They've been nerfing survivors consistently since 2016. That is not hating killers. Killers are always buffed, take a look at Sadako already.
Survivor can't even get a perk buff or new perk without it going through a nerf. LOL.
BHVR overwhelmingly favors killers.

" Survivors need Good Perks " .... Alexis laughts in CoH, DS, BT and Busted Dead Hard 🤷♀️
Also how would you Nerf Tunneling ? Do u would Love that the unhooked Survivor should have God Mode until the others 3 Survivor got hooked ?
Tunneling is a Tactic ans sadly the best tactic to have a chance at high MMR if the Game woupdnt be so Survivor Sided less Killers are tunneling
CoH: A self-care perk that requires some setup first.
DS: Only a 1-time use stun, meta killers instantly ignore it by downing them again.
BT: Wait only a few seconds to ignore it.
Dead Hard: Easiest counter of all - most killers wait an extra second or two to bait it out.
No god mode, but rather a more punishing DS. 7 or 10 sec stun with no sound (like the killer perk Knock Out). If survivors cannot use decisive strike at will as it was when it first released, it should be actually useful.

Tell you what. When BHVR starts financially compensating people for Playing the killer role, we can start expecting them to worry about maximizing fun for the other side. Until then, maybe treat the killer side as opponents, rather than the DM here to give you a good time. And that's coming from someone who plays at most 3 hours of killer per month, as I find solo survivor far more fun.
BHVR would file for bankruptcy if they compensated for all the slugging, tunneling, camping. Come on now, it is NOT that bad to play killer. The side where your skill and progression actually does reward you. Solo does not. The issue is clearly killer isn't fun for some players unless you are noob-stomping them at 5 gens still up.
-
@Sandt21 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/312430/tunneling-should-be-promptly-addressed
And how would you address tunneling without giving an unhooked survivor a free escape and guaranteed time where there is absolutely no chance whatsoever of the killer bothering them in any way shape or form? Because that amounts to free gen time with no chance of it being interrupted.
I'm not actually asking for a free escape, but a more punishing mechanic or perk. It is not fair a Huntress or Blight instantly downs someone immediately after a DS, which incentivizes tunneling. If the stun is so miniscule, it should be useable multiple times. They could give it 3 stacks or something. Killers are not afraid of decisive strike or borrowed time.
-
@MrPeanutbutter said:
If all killers tunnel then don’t get caught first. Do gens and escape GG EZ
That's way easier said than done. No Way Out, NOED, Blood Warden just gives killer even more advantage after tunneling. The hook timer is so fast, it would take all 3 to be on the gens without ever stopping. Then everyone is NOED.

That´s not the perks problem. Plague shuts down any heal perk, Doctor & Legion can negate any type of stealth and some killers can just find the survivor faster after a DS.
If a killer's power enables them to instantly take someone out of the match for an unfair advantage, it causes a major balancing problem. So you have 2 extremely powerful killers that have even more advantage.
-
P2W Licensed. They won't do anything to hurt his unfair advantage.

If you have to time to do something, then you are not being tunneled.
Not necessarily true.
Besides, if it is an anti-tunnel perk, then it needs to do a better job at doing that. If a Blight or Huntress can instantly down someone again and tunnel them out of the match, then that is not anti-tunnel.
-

Tbh I think it should stun for 6 seconds, give a small speed boost and hide blood marks and scratches for 10 seconds.
Any buff like that would be nice. One more thing: distort the killer's hearing. If he is stunned, he shouldn't be benefiting from directional audio.
-

DS still has the same function as before. It's just that now survivors are encouraged to heal instead of playing gen-jockeys.
Curiously, now that it's not busted, its rarely being used.
---
As for the original post : as long as killers will only have a chance to win or even get a kill if they tunnel and camp, the situation will not change.
Deciding that kills were what counts instead of hooks may not have been the wisest idea.
Healing actually disables DS so they are discouraged from doing anything. I believe your definition of busted means being useful and effective. It doesn't function the same as before because now it deactivates for scratching your nose.
Since it is obvious in how it is designed now that it is supposed to be anti-tunnel but it does a very bad job about that. 5 sec stun is absolutely nothing to meta killers. When a Blight can down someone in only a few seconds after DS, only a 1-time use perk btw, then that is extremely weak perk. Killers don't even respect DS. Since it is only 1-time use, then they make sure to tunnel again to get them out of the game.
-
You want survivors to spawn on hooks? They already almost never escape. The killer meta is what needs a nerf. Make the game fair again.
-
It has gotten bad to worse. This is really a result of Decisive Strike being nerfed so much. It needs to be buffed so it is feared and not a small 1-time stun. It is normal for a Huntress, Nurse, Blight, or any of these killers to instantly down the person again after decisive strike. 5 second stun is so miniscule.
The game doesn't even need changed at all, just give survivor more powerful ways to deal with it.
-
This is a very common experience and it should be discussed more. Killer is extremely easy compared to survivor and Bubba mains have to get bored of winning all the time. He desperately needs nerfs. It is appalling he is still in this state.
Literally hit M2 and instantly bypass 2 health states with a very long power that has almost no cooldown. I've actually seen him down someone in the basement and even if someone has borrowed time when saved, his saw was still running at the top of the stairs and downed the person anyway. That is absurd.
-
All killers are strong, some are too strong in fact. Just because one or more escaped doesn't mean "Killers are far too weak". You can't win every game. An organized SWF will always be harder to beat.
-
Simply remove MMR and buff survivors so SWF is not mandatory. It's been a huge negative. Game is not fun when played in a sweaty manner and MMR demands way too much of that.
There is no question MMR has caused an insurgence of cheating because players feel like it is the only way to enjoy the game which is a bad sign.
-
@Gamedozer7 said:
Cheating has a clear definition
The definition is "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination"
Looking down to avoid collision was an intended mechanic by design so its not Cheating in anyway shape or for you just don't like that he can do it.
It is still a very unfair advantage. Whether the devs approve of it or not. It should be fixed for balance reasons.
-
They are nothing with it. Survivors need massively buffed.
-
Killers are supposed to stumble and slow down when they fall from great heights but they don't in DBD. Looping is not an exploit. It's honestly the only way to evade. Killers have tracking perks you know.
-
Especially a good huntress makes you feel like you have no options at all. It is often forgotten that she came out when survivors were much stronger than they are now. There's been a lot of slow down perks added as well as maps been axed into smaller deadzones and so dodging 5 or more hatchets is impossible. While all of this happened as well as dedicated servers, Huntress has remained the same. She's just broken now in a very overpowered kind of way.
