If they were easy to find, then it stands to reason they were widespread. Or did you mean they were "very easy to find" if you had very specific specs and that's why they only affected a minority of players and are actually very difficult for the devs to find?
If they weren't easy to find, why were the forums flooded with posts about them within minutes of them being released?
Look - your blind defense isn't working. Come up with actual counters, or knock it off.

It's not egregious that it's taking so long to fix. It's egregious that it's happening in the first place.

I don't care who reported it, I'm asking you for metrics that show they represent a majority, which would actually prove that the bugs are prevalent enough to be easily detected. I'm going to assume you can't, or you would've done so by now.
Where did I claim a majority experience these issues? I'm very careful with my words, bud. I would never make a claim I can't fully back up with metrics like you do. I said these bugs were EASY TO FIND. I made no mention of a majority. Take your strawman elsewhere.

Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm
There's a difference between balance related oversights, like those games experience, and things in the game being bugged to the point where they straight up aren't functional.
-
- Be Ghostface and teabag them from a distance
- Be Huntress, change your name (if PC) to FUNTRESS, and throw hatchets into the air.
- Be Wraith and bing bong the bell constantly.
- Be Pig and try and get them to boop the snoot.

I mean, rank/pips are meaningless, but at the same time, you can 4K and still not pip. The requirements for killers to pip vs what survivors need to pip are so off balance it's not even funny.

The forums are not representative of the community. You know that threads and sometimes entire forums turn into echo chambers very easily. But if you have the numbers, let's see them.
They may not be representative of the community - but it's more evidence and metric than you can provide.
Plus, it wasn't just the forums. Reputable members of the community (even fog whisperers) mentioned these things within the first hour of their streams.
OhTofu, ScottJund, Bronx, Umbra etc.
So again - keep telling me how "most people don't experience these issues" with absolutely zero evidence or metrics.

@Orion said:

No, I don't. Do you have metrics to prove that these bugs are easily found?
Let's assume that only 0,1% of all players affected by bugs take the time to report them. That means that the bug report threads you see with half a dozen upvotes (and keep in mind I'm exaggerating big time when I say "half a dozen") could represent about 6000 people with the same issue. On Steam alone, there's over 10x that number of players during peak times.
Since you're in the industry, do you have information on how many players report the bugs they encounter, percentage-wise?
Yes, I do. Literally minutes after the patch AND events were released, this ######### was found and pointed out.
It was all over the forums.

Nothing rivals LoL, it is without a doubt the most toxic game I've ever witnessed. I would say DBD is close with CSGO.
Actually, that's true. LoL is pretty toxic. Remember when Tyler1 played DBD? Imagine if the LoL community came to DBD.

Here's the thing about sound bugs, or even most of the bugs you see mentioned on the forum: most people don't have them. The forum is not representative of the playerbase because people are more likely to complain when their play time is interrupted than they are to interrupt their play time on their own and just to come here and say "all is well".
I have criticized the devs plenty, including for them not fixing bugs that I myself reported during the PTBs and the generally lackluster anniversary event compared to how hyped up it was. However, I also defend them when I think the complaints about them are unreasonable. You can disagree with me, but don't assume your perception of them is objective or that it's the only one that matters.
You, and everyone else who agrees that the devs are "beyond defending at this point", is free to stop supporting them whenever you choose. To me, the fact that the game has grown is proof that the bugs everyone keeps complaining about are only affecting a small number of players. Don't let the forums fool you into thinking they're bigger problems than they really are.
Most people? Do you have metrics on that?
Provide metrics, or don't spout numbers.

Activision/Blizzard, PUBG and Riot to name a few. It really isn't that uncommon. Bugs happen and they get fixed, which will bring more bugs and then they get fixed. It is a never ending cycle.
Name any game that any of those companies have put out, that HASN'T actually been a beta, that release as many broken patches as BHVR and takes as long to fix them, and repeatedly breaks the same things over and over again (sounds have been off and on broken for years). Go ahead, I'll wait. I'll likely die of old age before you can truthfully answer, though; and I'm only 32.

Not measuring anything, you're the one who wanted to dismiss what I'm saying because you think I'm a layman. If you didn't want me to refute you, then you shouldn't have brought it up.
Also, I corrected the comment, it was technically 5 in total, with two focusing on very specific things.
I didn't say you were a laymen; and you didn't even come close to refuting me. You used a generalized statement, which does not apply to this specific case.
Look man, I'm not trying to be an ######### or insult you here. The issue the community has is that this ######### never stops. Yes, software has bugs, but even YOU have to admit that a lot of the bugs DBD tends to contract (for lack of a better term) are GLARINGLY obvious within the first few minutes of playing to the point of "How in the hell did that make it passed QA?". Much like the event bugs we're experiencing now (look at me staying on topic! WOOT!).
From the sound bugs (which is literally every other patch), to the Wraith/Spirit lunge bugs, to the Hag/Freddy bugs last patch. Like, these are all things that took seconds for people who actually play the game to notice. So an adequate amount of actual play testing would have, or SHOULD have been enough if they actually put any effort into it. This is all furthered by the fact, and issue that they have open beta tests for big releases (PTB) and 9/10 times, the live version inherits literally all the bugs in the PTB, whether or not they are game breaking. Like for example - the current sound issues, the balance issues on the new map, and remember the basement hook glitch back when Oni was released that took them 2 weeks AFTER live to fix, even though it had been reported in the PTB 3 weeks PRIOR to release?
It's just a never ending cycle of "#########" moments at this point, and all you seem to be doing is trying to find ways to justify them, or defend them somehow, when they are beyond defending at this point.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1383893#Comment_1383893
Yes, every patch has bugs. This happens with every piece of software ever made. Have you done any programming? Bug squashing is a #########.
Bugs happen with every piece of software - correct.
The ISSUE here is, BHVR and to a lesser extent (which is actually hard to fathom) Bethesda are the only companies that seem to consistently release patch after patch after patch with at least 1 game breaking bug in it. BHVR is also the company who CONSISTENTLY breaks sound at least a few times a year, and are one of like 2 companies who hold OPEN BETA's and DO NOT FIX THE REPORTED ISSUES. DBD's patches literally release with more issues than Batman: Arkham Knight on PC did in 2015; and as others have said, they're anniversary event literally being broken is the cherry on the proverbial cake.
You are blatantly ignoring actual evidence in favor of just blindly defending their lacking QA and trying to justify it. You have no logic to stand on here, and you can't win this. You're literally just quoting things you googled. "All software has bugs".

"Bugged into oblivion"
There's one bugged offering and one issue that seems to go away when you restart the game. Let's not be overly dramatic.
If you want me to be real about it - I didn't even key that phrase. It was one of their fog whisperers. One that streams late at night (or early morning, depending on location); and they are right. Given the fact that the bloodpoints if peoples primary reason for grinding during an event, the offering FOR bloodpoints being broken qualifies as "bugged into oblivion".
Keep gunning for that trusted badge, man.

I don't feel entitled to some super fun experience just because it's june, but at this point It's just embarrassing.
I can't help but feel if they had some real competition for this game on the market, a lot of these shortcomings just straight up wouldn't be allowed to happen.
Thank you. Good to see someone out there sees how embarrassing this is.
If it were just one or two bugs every now or then, instead of literally something game breaking every patch, then it wouldn't be a big issue.
The event being completely bugged into oblivion, like you said, is insult to injury. At this point I find it hard to believe some of this isn't intentional and they secretly laugh at is behind the scenes.

@Mandy said:
Problem with some bugs is that they do not appear for everyone, the sound bug for example - not everyone is experiencing it, in fact very few people are. So trying to isolate the cause of that, is a lot more difficult than if it was a bug that's affecting everyone.
But this is not the subject of this thread, and is quite off topic.
Whilst you do not have hard evidence of anything to do with the testing or the design of the game, I fortunately do - and I can assure you how hard the team work on this game and how much testing is done. These things happen in live games and whilst I appreciate how frustrating it is, to say that work is not carried out is incredibly disingenuous.
That right there is the root of BHVR's problem. Lack of accountability, and ability to dismiss what people say.
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1383855#Comment_1383855
I didn't experience any sound bugs, nor did the majority of players. Bugs that are hard to track down are hard to fix, and people who were experiencing them were very hostile to those of us who weren't and refused to cooperate and share system information to help the devs figure out what was going on.
What you're saying, about there being no evidence of play testing, is called "survival bias". You see the bugs that weren't caught by QA, so you conclude that these are all the bugs that exist and no bugs were ever caught by QA. Do you seriously think BHVR would spend money hiring play testers if they didn't intend to play test to begin with?
Your post is 100% invalid given the fact that this is literally an every patch occurrence.
-
@Mandy said:
@SloppyKnockout that information was very politely provided earlier in the thread by Orion - thanks for the heads up though.
And whilst you might think things aren't tested, I can assure you they are - sadly things go wrong, as happens when you are dealing with a live game.
"Things go wrong" is a bit of an understatement.
Hell, look at the sound issues. You guys LITERALLY had those in your patch notes listed as "fixed"...and they released more broken than they were before. We're not talking about minor bugs that all games seem to have. We're talking about things that are GLARINGLY obvious to the point where a blindfolded, stuck in a closet with the lights off Stevie Wonder would notice within 5 minutes of playing. We'd understand if they were just minor things, but the stuff BHVR somehow allows through QA is nonsense. This event is just the cherry on the cake.
You can say BHVR play tests all you want - there's absolutely zero evidence to that. Unless they play test, see the bugs, and simply don't care to fix them on time. This is evidenced by the fact that the community TOLD you about all the issues in the PTB...3 weeks before the patch...and it somehow still released that way.
So I repeat - if they do play test, they do a lackluster job; and we have enough hard evidence to say that's an actual fact at this point.
-
@Mandy said:
The event is 24 hours old, so not 2 days, plus today is a National Holiday in Canada, so I wouldn't expect a fix today.
No, it's only a holiday in Quebec. I live here. I was born in western Canada. Please verify your information before posting. Jean-Baptiste day is Quebec only. It's not even close to a "national holiday".
Besides - those are both poor excuses. This shouldn't have been a thing to begin with. The event should be extended by however long this takes to fix, cause this is a damn joke.
Though - with the state of the game after the last few patches, we shouldn't be surprised that the event ended up bugged. It's clear BHVR doesn't play test anything; and if you're going to tell me they do play test...it's obvious they do a lackluster job of it if this SOMEHOW got passed QA.
You can reprimand me for saying that if you want - but I'm being more than respectful, and I'm not saying anything that everyone here doesn't already know is 100% accurate.
-
@blue4zion said:

Grabbing a crown and AFK isn't harder than completing 5 gens and escaping. We're not talking about which side is harder to "win" the round. We are talking about the complexity of earning a crown.
I'm talking overall - killer is harder to play.
God forbid they have it easier than survivors for once.

Looking back at their post history, this is a broken argument they've made multiple times before; and they are schooled on why they are wrong every single time. Pay no mind, honestly.

Never did I say that. However, since you brought it up, time played may not be directly correlated to skill, but you cannot deny that some association may exist.
Skill has 2 ingredients - one of them is optional. Time played is one of them, common sense is another. Time played is the optional one, really.

@Peanits said:
It's not a matter of prioritizing newer players over older players, it's actually quite the opposite. Back then, the way event cosmetics were stored were much less secure than recent events, and it made them susceptible to loss of progress (the reason why we needed to return them to people in the first place). We originally decided to return them only to the people who had earned them in specifically to not alienate long time players who had worked for them. Despite our best efforts, there were people missing who should have received them and didn't: The data we had at the time was not robust enough to catch everyone.
So in short, some of the people who did work for and earn them didn't receive their cosmetics back, and there was nothing we can do for them. Those long time players were out of luck. The idea of not alienating long time players ended up alienating those long time players.
It's unfortunate, yes, but leaving those people behind is not an option. This is the fairest way we can handle the situation. This shouldn't be a problem for future events as the way we store rewards now is much more secure.
Leaving people behind is "not an option"? Explain the Legacy stance then. I and MANY others spent 2000 hours of time playing back in 2016, just to lose legacy. You're worried about leaving people behind who had to put a few hours in to get an inconsequential cosmetic, but it's a big old middle finger to those who actually had to do a meaningful amount of work and last all their legacy stuff?
Okay there, bud.

Or - the alternative solution, don't be a pepega and run Fixated/Iron Will. EZ spirit counter. Fast walking and silence.
-
Here's the thing - I think it both exists, and is a stupid term to use at the same time. At the end of the day, there's plenty of things for survivors to do, but only one thing helps them escape. Only one thing is their actual objective. That's generators. Do they go too fast? Absolutely. Do teams go out of their way sometimes to coordinate and genrush (even in solo queue) after planning to bring a map offering? Yes.
Genrushing is definitely a thing that exists.
THAT BEING SAID - killers do have things they can do to combat it. The issue is, survivors don't like these things. 3-gen strats, and hooking someone dead center of the 3 gen, and camping them out. Or slugging everyone with sloppy/knockout. Or just using slowdown builds. They can genrush, and it's perfectly fine..but if you killrush, you're a sweatlord.
This has turned into a rant. Ha.

Imagine being that clueless that through your 'book burning' you forgot history:
History OF THE GAME:
Since release, killer has been buffed, survivor nerfed. This is important to understand and through examples you’ll see why that has happened. It shows you why the game has had the trajectory it has and why we are now in our current quagmire.
It all started with the introduction of swf and the 2 escapes, 2 kills devs unit of metric. You don’t have to like the metric but it’s whats given the survivors all their nerfs and all the killers current buffs.
The devs failed to understand that people would want to play with friends in an online game (serious), what we got was ‘lobby wars’. Where survivors would join different lobbies looking for their friends and leave if they couldn’t find them. It was horrible trying to find games. Hence why we got swf, that completely unbalanced the game by creating coordinated survivors that could communicate. The devs have been nerfing survivor ever since and completely crippled solo survivor play.
Killers now are up around 70% kills due to the trajectory of the game and the devs metric system, unless you feel their metric system is bad, in which case they can undo all the changes I've just mentioned....
It also important to mention marketing and advertising. There’s nothing special about survivors, they are just reskins with some new perks that all play the same. THATS IT. EACH killer has its own unique play style and as you see from their advertising, its always new killers they promote. Survivors get a mention, but its never really the selling point.
DBD reddit, back in the day was all about poking fun at survivors and giving you the impression that every second game is SWF and heavily biased against killers. Which was a lie. OP SWF games are maybe one in 30 games with most swf games being friends who are just wanting to have fun and usually end up wiping. But there was no push back, the killer echo room there would down vote anything survivor sided.
That coupled with the points I mentioned previously meant that a lot of survivor mains left the game. Which is kind of obvious, I mean you understand the devs unit of metric sure, but you just watch nerf, after nerf, after nerf as it all gets taken away. Why would you stay for that? Its kind of miserable.
What has this created? In short. Entitlement. Killer mains know if they whine, they get what they want.
THIS is the environment the devs have created and what you see on the forums.
Imagine thinking killers have never had nerfs. OOF.
Survivor entitlement, folks.

They do this, or at least that's my assumption based on seeing some Fog Whisperers talk about visiting Behaviour and giving feedback on upcoming stuff. This is useful, but that kind of consultation alone provides only a very narrow perspective on specific things. These are also primarily fans/skilled players of the game, not experienced consultants. It's a vastly different skill set.
And we've heard former fog whisperers (such as Edgar after they gave him the shaft for KEKWing a tweet) state that they do NEXT TO NOTHING with that feedback.
Even the non fog whisperers they talk to who are just knowledgeable, they warned them about the Midwich map months ago, and nothing was done. Ask Scott.
So no, asking, and using as a resource are two different things.

He's also the guy who thought Spirit shouldn't be able to see survivors. He's made good choices too, but those don't seem to be brought up quite as often... One of those good choices is the willingness to admit he was wrong, which is why now you can't stun a killer mid-animation. Sometimes things don't work out the way you thought, ######### happens.
So, the shoplifter at Wal Mart got caught stealing a t-shirt. But they shouldn't be held accountable because they've also made good choices in their life. Also - speaking of spirit, he thought it was also a good idea for the original Prayer Beads to exist in their former form, as well as collision during phasing. The more you ignore the other half to the same story you try to tell, the more you appear as a shill.
Your logic. And it's broken. Next.

Basically "play to win and burn the killer rulebook that survivors wrote for you".

If you say the game is imbalanced, then you know things that need to be fixed. I'm not going to say a game is imbalanced and then someone ask me what's imbalanced and my response is "idk".
That's not how things work. You can see imbalance in an asymmetrical game without knowing a fix for it. Hello, welcome to Dead by Daylight. You must be new.
