  • So youre saying its not "predatory if you were able to see all the challenges before paying money to purchase the rift" and that "The devs have repeatedly said the tomes are not necessarily going to be identical to what was in the PTB"? Do you see the flaw there?

On top of that, not everyone will have done the maths involved. Some would just look and see thatif you complete the rift you get your investment back! If I play DbD a lot then I should come out a winner, right? Not many would realise that they can complete every single challenge in the Archives and play an hour every day and still not complete the rift.

The Rift, and specifically the premium track, seems to be the most controversial implementation to hit this game in a while. I see post after post of people deriding the devs, making wild speculations, and complaining that it's too hard to complete. Do you think maybe we should wait until all of the tomes have been released to pass judgement on this new feature?

No. We've seen the challenges and done the math. We can clearly see what is achievable and what is clearly a predatory system and a cheap cash grab. Why wait to complain about it until its too late when we can clearly see what it is now?

  • @LordGlint said:

Still means we should see what the actual challenges are though before we complain about them, lol.

I think it's good to voice concerns o what has actuallybeen seen in the game until we're told what, if anything, is changing. The Tier 4 challenges have made their way into the game, placeholders or not, they're what is currently in place. If we don't voice concerns when they arise how can we expect anything to change?

  • You... You do know the definition of "risk", right...?

And your "hex persists until ALL totems are cleansed" wouldnt work. It'd be too powerful. If the killer has ToTH and another Hex totem its almost impossible to cleanse either unless the survivors are incredibly coordinated.

I need to see the data, and know how many hours each participant has within the game before I regard that as credible. It's hard to know if they've only had a half an hour and are bad survivors, or if they are going against high rank killers who know what they are doing, and know they don't have to go against DS and ones that know how to loop.

I'd like the data first, in other words. All of it.

Of course we'd all like to see spreadsheets of data but thats not going to happen. You made a claim "Survivors don't need to rely on perks to win" and I've pointed to a test done which contradicts this. You didnt even attempt to backup your claim. When choosing participants in the experiment they took into account hours played and roles participants main. Did you participate in the experiment? If you did you can verify this yourself.

  • @Raven014 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/828863#Comment_828863

Not really. Survivors don't need to rely on perks to win. Killers do for the most part. Every perk choice impacts how they play, and being down just one perk (could even be lost within the first 30 seconds of the game) is such a detriment to them. Killers are on the clock, not survivors.

It's a risk reward for survivors. Survivors would be sacrificing one perk slot because they want to remove one perk slot of the killer's. As of right now, there is only one perk killers can consistently deny, and that is Dead Hard. But that's only if they have an exposed perk. They can't even remove a survivor perk from the match. however, there are multiple killer perks which survivors can remove... as well as pressure them with rushing the objective.

Survivor is infinitely easier than killer, and giving this effect to totems would close the gap a little bit. Sure, survivor got plenty of nerfs, but they're all well deserved when you look at what DBD used to look like.

The results of the vanilla experiment would beg to differ with you on that one.

If both killer and survivors are playing perkless the killer 4ks almost everytime.

  • @Raven014 said:

People will break totems even if the totem is "inactive". It doesn't work.

What I'd rather see is some kind of punishment for survivors cleansing, a risk/reward. Is the reward for breaking a totem worth gaining a higher risk? (I don't just mean haunted grounds)

SpaceCoconut had a good idea for this: Make it so they lose a perk for the rest of the trial in order to balance the fact they make the killer lose one of theirs.

That would just be way too powerful. And removes the risk-reward aspect if its risk-reward-reward.

I guess 7, for some reason I got those 7 levels for free, but I was in a game while the rift openend, my friends in my swf group all got some free levels after the rift opened while we was in a game, my other friend got 13 levels for free, idk why xD. But even though without those 7 levels I would be 32, I saw some ppl on rift level 20, I wonder if ppl get different amount of xp per game, I get 400 xp per game, for killer and survivor.

Those levels are from backdated playtime from when the Rift was actually planned to release. We started earning them about a week or two early but we were allowed to keep those.

Your right they dont usually end up doing what we think..the reality is always worse..legion, nurse, even ghost face got hit hard enough that his primary playstyle is a liability over a benafit..look you've kept a pretty reasonable discussion but I dont really trust the devs not to ruin the best parts of characters anymore..not even doc and he should be buffed without question...

I understand what you mean... Any faith I had in the devs has diminished severely since I saw the grind involved in the Rift and the difficulty of the Tier 4 challenges. I just have to hope they realise how bad some decisions can be for the game as a whole...

Because of track record and we are fresh off of nurse's latest "tweak" which was only revealed as their idea the day before testing..up till that point they only mentioned the addon change

and even if they say they'll change something by doing x,y and z they could end up doing a, b and c instead. The point is we dont know. By all means say what you would like to see but dont just complain about something we dont know for the sake of complaining.

Certainly harder than clown is though clown is just weak by design atm, just because she can use sound to locate survivors doesnt mean that's all there is..because if you just run at survivors you'll end up eating splinters just as much as any killer

You seem to agree on everything I have said. If any killer just runs at survivors they will eat splinters (but luckily one of her perks helps counter this)... Thats not exclusive to the spirit. And the clown is weaker than the spirit and is obviously more difficult than the spirit to achieve the same outcome as her.

Its almost like something else in the game is a "gamble" that could be high risk or big reward that constantly is being asked to get a nerf.

  • @xRem said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/828217#Comment_828217

That's the thing, a killer is "overpreforimg" but we havent been told factors as to why. She hasnt had an above average kill rate until recently, I would assume given how its just now being addressed.

Obliviously her kill rate is rising, shes a strong killer and after nurses nerf that made her extremely tedious to play people saw another viable killer to play.

Look at instas and keys, after instas were nerfed were seeing keys alot more. Why? Because it's the next best item, whether or not its balanced or not you see the trend.

There are factors about her killer rate, we haven't gotten all the details yet either. And shouldn't make assumptions based on it until we can filter these anomalies.

I 100% agree we should wait until we have more details. I dont think they'd base their decision on her "over performing" on the short period since the nurse changes. I think a lot of things have changed since the devs last released their statistics and I think these changes have likely increased the Spirits lethality. Hopefully when the recent stats are released, like they said they would, it'll shed some more light on the situation as a whole.

  • It would really only effect those without the skill to play well with any other killer but you do you I guess

  • @xRem said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/828210#Comment_828210

Shes not 4king though, shea getting 3ks on average.

Which is still 1k per game over the desired kill rate. Hence the coming changes.

If survivors were escaping on average 3 escapes per game against the Spirit wouldnt you think she'd need a buff to bring her to the 2 escape/2kill ratio?

  • @tortrader said:

"Fact: She’s so OP that a very large number of survivors have taken to just quitting the match when they see its spirit again. And that’s not even with prayer beads"

The solution is to make other characters more viable, not the other way around. That way killer mains will choose a wide variety.

Viable killers? Yes. Every killer getting a 4k every match? No. Nobody would play survivor if they can never have a chance at escaping. The desired balance has always been 2k and 2 escape.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/826805#Comment_826805

He's saying they do it for killers, but not for the survivors, and he's right you know. I've yet to see BHVR nerf something on the survivor side, or adjust gens or something, since there are killers complaining about the Gen rush meta.

They significantly nerfed healing in an attempt to make gens take longer. This backfired and resulted in the no heal meta.

    They nerfed insta heals.

    They nerfed exhaustion.

    Hatch closing and EGC.

I'm not saying a lot of those changes werent needed but to claim they never change anything survivor sided is just a lie.

Its a lot harder to change anything survivor sided also as any change effects every survivor - they're just skins. Killers can be individually tweaked without changing all killers.

  • I'm assuming you got survivors trapped in your traps and therefore didn't get high in chases.

imho each killer should have a personalized emblem system

  • I'd much rather it be more achievable with no auric cell reimbursement than what we currently have. I was off for the double BP.event and a lot over Halloween and played almost constantly. That, combined with the 10 tier head start and the fragments from tome 1 has me sitting at tier 30. In any other game with the amount played I should have completed the entire thing. It's so freaking grindy...

  • I spent 2hours trying to play last night and the best ping I found through constant lobby dodging was 450...

  • The worst I've had was two survivors squatting at the open gate area blocking me from escaping. Some people just have so little going on on their lives that they have to make others miserable so they feel better....

  • @Pennywise2000 said:

at least allow us to know who is in SWF and who is not that way killer would know to bring a mori to balance.

This would solve nothing. People would just go back to lobby dodging until they found their friends. You wont get as many 4mans but you would stil have them playing together. I dont get why SWF has such a bad name. The majority of SWFs I've seen are way overly altruistic and will dive the hook to steamroll their death. I've very rarely seen any that act like untra elite swat teams. And even then they typically take a couple of hits to try to stop a hook which seems like a fair trade imho

  • What happens if the unhooker has BT? Do you still get to block the unhook?

  • @immortalls96 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/823011#Comment_823011

Only if both sides play equally every step of the way..but that is not reality..by that logic it should be the killer gets a kill or two max when they were simply played well against..and 4k if they played very well..because saying a killer should get capped on two kills on equal footing means they are statistically weaker than the opposition..my point is..it should be able to swing either way..not just hard cap on performance

How would a draw make them statistically weaker? By definition it makes it an even score

  • @immortalls96 said:

We are at a point in this game where we were looking at some true quality changes being made to the game..but these exciting developments have been overshadowed by the seemingly lack of foresight into how certain changes have not been taken well by the community.

Nobody really minded the nurses addons getting a pass..because..they were too much..and better nurse players didnt rely on them..but then the devs held back information on their true plan until the day before the ptb..it was low..it felt like they had been intentionally lying because they knew what the reaction would be..is this their reasoning ? Who knows? But the result has not sat well with the community at all because it was too much..it feels aweful..and increases nurses difficulty while considerably maximizing her capability which was supposed to be her reward for the stress and effort involved.

Now we are at the real line in the sand..spirit is next..a killer whom is loved by many and hated by others for reasons that vary from her being "unfun" to her being "skilless"..but spirit isnt just another killer in the rister..she and nurse are the only killers considered viable enough at present to fight on equal footing to well equipped teams. And the fact both are being targeted around the same time despite the fact that survivors have a boost of some kind coming their way feels rushed, one sided, and will likely result in her either being weak..or maybe still strong but very stressful and not fun to play much like nurse is presently.

All of this is merely adding to the belief the devs are not bipartisan as they should be..because they make plenty of promises to review the killers and "update" them..but no promises of improvement to underperforming ones while the best ones get cut down with no regard for what the ones playing them have to say or how they feel..This I believe will only end badly..unless we can come to a consensus and we can start feeling like equals in the devs eyes. That is all

When I see killer mains (and not.saying you are one) write things like,

"considered viable enough at present to fight on equal footing to well equipped teams"

I feel like they typically mean "able to get me a 4k against the best survivors". Ideally, if the best killer player vs 4 of the best survivors shouldn't the result be a 2k? i.e. a draw. I feel a lot of people that don't play both sides don't know what balance actually is...

  • Yes. You have until the end of the rift go grind for serum. And then about a week or two after the rift closes to spend any you've accumulated.

  • @immortalls96 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/822855#Comment_822855

The devs have stated trapper, freddy, and hag are currently the killers with the highest kill ratings..so her kill rate isnt the issue..we all know what the real reason is

I have to assume the difference is kill rating vs escape rating. a killer can get a 4k with no dc because the survivors deem the killer fair/balanced. A killer can also get 1k and no escapes because the survivors don't feel the match is fair.

  • @AIG1992 said:

Probably innocent Fredward. If there's enough crying, the nerfs will come.

What I find surprising is that even though Freddy has the highest kill rate currently, more survivors are looking for Spirit to be adjusted over any other killer. Which says a lot if you think about it...

  • @Bleediss said:

    Freddy and Plague, easily.

I have to admit, though, I hate the concept of Forever Freddy and think mostly bad players use it because they can't apply enough pressure without all of the slowdown perks, but I don't think it deserves a nerf or anything.

Unpopular opinion here but I'd be interested in some number tweaks. Similar to how survivors have a maximum healing speed, I feel there should be a maximum slowdown speed. You'd still have Pop, etc to put ontop of it but the ott slowdown would be lessened.

EGC was designed to end trial without prolonging it into oblivion as soon as gens are done. I've been in multiple trials when it lasts after last gen was done for 5-6 minutes, especially against SWF, when they run around with flashlights trying to waste pallets if any left and getting all ppl who yet alive to escape while 99 gates.

If they're running around breaking pallets then it can only help you get more bloodpoints.

If you want the game to end faster - open the gate yourself - it'll be over in 2 mins!

Even "toxic" SWFs who 99 the gate will open it shortly after going for the save. It really doesnt drag out that long. Worst case scenario it gives you a chance at more downs/kills.

No no no, this stems from a total lack of knowledge about going against DS.

This is not even a buff to solo players, as your post suggests, it's a buff to people who, in your words, "Don't Have DS".

Remember, the 60 second timer doesn't stop if the killer goes and hooks another person, it keeps going.

    Lemme tell you a story:

I was playing Hag one day and I was doing quite well. I downed three people, hooked them all. All three are freed, I down all of them very soon after... I proceed to get hit with 3 consecutive DS's, even after slugging all of them. Not tunneling, clearly downing them to go for other people. I still got hit.

My only solution was to wait longer for the "anti-tunnel" perk to deactivate, even though I clearly did not tunnel anybody? No.

Now imagine that every game, regardless of ANY obsession perks within the lobby. Constant slugging and momentum breaking for both sides because Obsession status is baseline. That doesn't sound like a healthy playstyle.

Again, you dont have to slug. Just dont go for the unhooked person - go for the unhooker. Something I find quite useful is MYC. You can use the timer to know when DS will be run out and it will also encourage you to go after the unhooker more! Enjoy!

Apologies. I was asking Dekillerkiller about farming xp for fragments. Lol not sure why you replied about the tome missions to that.

That being said. I do think killer ones are easier but thats only because I've played killer since this game has been out.

Survivor I started playing only when the archives were added. So im having to learn that and do these missions as a solo player with no friends.

Technically killer is faster. XP isnt based of bloodpoints or number of games played. Its based off in game time. Survivor is inconsistent - dying on first hook, camping, tunneling, etc. Killer is guaranteed the xp regardless of performance. The only thing that would be a factor is queue times but it'd have to be bad to effect it that much.

  • @DocOnLoose said:

Start EGC timer as soon as any gate has been touched.

why tho? Why not as soon as the last gen pops? Or why not from when the game loads in at the start but for a longer time? /s

EGC isnt supposed to help give you handy kills! Its just supposed to get the survivors to leave eventually!

Are you kidding? Killer mains have been crying about Adrenaline since forever. And here you are acting like a nerf to Adrenaline would be nothing lmao.

Am I the only killer that doesnt have an issue with Adrenaline? It only really benefits a maximum of one survivor at most - the one being chased when the gen pops. Even then thats entirely dependent on the survivor making it to the endgame. I'm very much okay with survivors wasting a perk slot in the hopes of making it that far >.<

  • @StarMoral said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/821967#Comment_821967

No. And Noed is still a perk.

If anything, that's how it currently works now. Since DS is an obsession perk, just seeing the Obsession symbol means no survivors can be trusted. Neck the killer himself can screw this up because of his own obsession perks.

Plus, doing totems grants an insane amount of Boldness points, while waiting for DS... Slows your progress down.

Then dont wait for DS? Dont tunnel? Or just slug them and go for the unhooker?

Can you clarify your first line? Yes noed is still a perk? So is DS?

Otzdarva? That maniac said new nurse is super fun and old base nurse was broken. He's a nice guy, but he knows nothing about balance.

I mean the new nurse addons actually do something and I can see myself actually using some to mix things up. It was very stale not using any and still getting an easy 4k with 5gens remaining. I do hate the ding everytime your blinks charge up though and the charge time itself is a lot to get used to.

I didnt reference him to say that his opinion trumps anyone elses but to merely say that I agree with the suggested changes and think they could work. I also think that the changes wouldnt upset too many people.

  • @StarMoral said:

This would be an indirect buff to DS since the simple presence of the Obsession can cause the killer to act as if people have it.

No survivors even need to have DS to benefit from it, they just need an obsession.

And believe me, this is nowhere near a buff for SOLO players.

Would that not make it the equivalent of NOED? You cant tell if the killer has it so you always have to play like they do and cleanse totems in the event its in play.

Lets not forget that sometimes Killers also has to bring perks and addons themselves to counter certain groups of survivors (I'm looking at you, Object of Obsession).

But apparently when killers have to do it it's "fair and balanced"

Now don't get me wrong, I want her to be a little more obvious for the survivors. Mainly because in my opinion, you need to pay attention to outsmart her during a chase. But she also shouldn't be gutted the same way Legion was.

I still don't think bringing perks, addons or offerings should be a valid counter though. As a killer I don't want to bring blindness addons or perks to an OoO group. Or bring a mori if I don't feel like going up against a group that I suspect are playing an optimal SWF.

You should be able to counter them in-game, not with stuff you prepared outside the match.

but killer perks/power always trump survivor perks (not saying survivor one should trump killer ones but maybe cancel each other?).

OoO against an Undetectable killer is just a target on your back with no benefit, except to the killer.

Iron Will? Better hope the spirit isnt using Stridor - the one perk almost every spirit uses as IW is the main counter to her...

Note: I am in noway advocating a "nerf" to spirit. I do, however, agree with the changes Otz has suggested.

  • I'd be okay with this if only for the BP boost for killing them/escaping as it.

Uh no, I've played killer in Hawkins against Red Rank survivors multiple times. There is a way to evade the killer by using multiple unsafe pallets as one continuous loop.

Do you have a VOD of this - I would genuinely be interested in seeing how any survivor can pull that off. I know Hawkins can be a pain with BL but as for pallets I honestly cant see a complaint for it.

  • @MissGamer456 said:

I agree with everything you literally just said.

I hate that I am forced to use Meta perks like I really do wanna try different builds as survivor and as killer, but it’s hard to pull off as people take this game way to seriously and competitively. The ranking system is trash there are too many Red Ranks survivors that shouldn’t be in Red Ranks, but got carried by their better Red Rank survivor friends. It is very stressful as a solo survivor and you basically have to play for yourself and ditch the other 3. it’s nearly impossible to have a good time if you are playing with friends to back you up.

The best part is when you see killers call survivors sweaty or tryhards for using BT/DS. They are literally anti-tunnel/camp perks now. If you dont tunnel off the hook then they wont effect you!

As survivors, do you know genrush?

Each survivor wants his 3 chases without tunnel or slugging but with the time of the gens that is not possible.

I've had games where they destroy the ruin the first 10 seconds of start, and after 2 minutes they already have 3 gens (I'm talking about the survivors who use urban evasion, those who don't like persecutions) ... The time that you lose alone searching for them is absurd (By the way, I won this game with slugging at 4 and let them bleed on the floor as punishment).

I usually use ebony when I see 3 toolboxes, they want to finish the game fast, just help them go to the lobby faster.

Both parties have their unbalanced rights (infinites, haddonfield - balanced landing, ebony, genrush, keys).

There are literally no infinites anymore. Nothing like the old days (and I'm very grateful for this)!

It annoys me when I see other killers saying how they need moris because ruin gets destroyed or gens go too fast. If you cant play without risking losing ruin then dont play with it. Use dying light or thana/sloppy.

Cant find survivors? Iron Maiden, Stridor, BBQ, Whispers, etc. Or just use headphones?

And slugging all 4 and letting them bleed out? Thats a waste of everyones time - Including your own. Not to mention youre also losing bloodpoints in an attempt to punish people who likely went afk when all 4 were down.

TL:DR - If youre still struggling with killer in 2019 then maybe you shouldnt be at your current rank...

1 … 31 32 33 34 35 … 39
