Funny thing is, I never needed it before. The fear of it was enough to not need it. Since the update its become mandatory. Even then its not stopping tunnellers. Just slowing them down a little.

I hardly, if ever got hit by a stun before, so I wouldn’t know the difference now. 🤷♂️
I could count on one hand the amount of times I've been hit by DS as killer. But since the nerf I haven't seen a single match where someone wasn't camped/tunnelled to death as survivors.
(before someone goes for the auto x-main argument I'm usually red ranks on both, though been leaning more towards killer lately)

Ds was blatently overpowered, and easily abused. This change will only affect people who abused it. Its a change 2 years in the making and its in its healthiest form where if you progress the state of the game it becomes disabled. Its an anti tunnel perk not a god button like it used to be, not a free get away unless you juggle, not a free getaway after 59 seconds on a gen and grabbed of. Its an anti tunnel perk
I don't think many people think it was healthy in its original state but in my opinion it needs to do more to help against tunnelling. What it does now isn't sufficient imho. At the very least it should activate twice.

yeah the lack of maps lately has been really bumming me out and making the game very stale imho. I'm okay with the visuals of the new killer and survivors but if there was a map to go along with that aesthetic? It would be amazing! A neon city vibe like you see at the campfire...

Because its objective v objective is it not? The Killers job is to Kill by any means necessary, the survivors to survive by any means necessary. Looping is a strat to avoiding the killers, tunneling a strat to kill the survivors.
If we're getting technical about it? Killing is not the objective. It can be "your" personal objective. But lorewise and emblem/point wise/game mechanics? No. The objective is to deprive the other side of hope through multiple interactions. it's not to end the trial ASAP.

Nothing "Oof" about it. Also I said and I quote "Tunneling And Camping are Legit strategies the same as Looping and doing your objectives quickly" post the full context next time you try and pull the "lol get a load of this guy" response
I literally quoted your entire comment - thats what I replied to.
But equating looping to tunneling and camping is just sad... Looping/chase is one thing. Gens and kills are another. But comparing looping to tunneling and camping... Oof...

You don't have to like it, but if it's such an issue play Killer instead, that way you can't be "Tunneled"

There is. It's called teamwork and is available for free on all Survivors, doesn't even take a perk slot, just people willing to work as a team to win a game.
Have you actually played this game? Like, seriously? Have you not seen survivors teabbag eachother? Suicide on first hook? DC on first down? This isnt a 4v1. Its a (1v1v1v1)v1
-
@Volcz said:
It stops tunneling. I guess you were just one of the many survivors that abused it.
It doesnt though. I've never seen a killer get hit by DS and stop tunneling. Why would they? Are they only realizing they were tunneling because they were hit by DS? No. They will continue to tunnel with or without DS. DS should make it harder to tunnel. It should activate off both hooks and hide scratch marks. Heck, give it a sprint burst effect to entice going for the unhooker. idk. As it stands, DS does not stop tunneling.

Yes that is! But killers mains happy because they can tunnel now. DS can give them just one stun and that is nothing lol
They'll argue its a "valid strategy"... Which, fine. Okay. But if a survivor is devoting a whole perk slot to protect against what is basically a band aid for a broken system, it should at least punish the killer for the playstyle its meant to punish.
Not to mention DS is a paid DLC perk. You shouldn't have to buy a DLC to play the game "normally". Just use any obsession perk and hope the killer doesnt tunnel? Most obsession perks are from DLC.
Current DS should just be a base game feature. Change my mind. You literally cant do anything to progress the game while its active anyway.

@Healthore77992 said:
Perk is still doing what was intended to do from the start lol, stop whining.
Its not though. And it never did, thats the problem.
DS is now supposed to be soley an anti-tunnel perk (no longer an anti-momentum perk). It was heavily nerfed without any buffs to compensate.
Considering you literally cant do anything and maintain DS it should have been heavily buffed to compensate. It doesnt stop tunneling. It buys you a couple of seconds before you get hooked again. It should at least activate twice and have a longer stun duration. Heck, at this stage I'd nearly be okay with it teleporting the survivor across the map when it activates because right now it does nothing to stop tunneling and killers know that.

Why are people struggling to get what I'm saying here lol I swear people are just reading the part where I say "DS buff" and immediately disagree with everything just because it's DS.
DS and BT are the only proper anti-tunnelling perks in the game. If you don't want to rely on your teammates then DS is your only option.
What if it's a killer chasing a rank 10 survivor who doesn't last a minute in chase? Is it fair that they got a perk to help with tunnelling only to see that it can be easily avoided by the killer who just camps their slugged body.
If I choose to play Spirit later and tunnel one survivor to death every game, you better believe DS won't stop them from dying. If they aren't great at looping then believe they will be dead before 3 gens have been completed.
It appears to be a small few with reading comprehension issues. They regurgitate the same "git gud" arguments at nauseam. Apparently we should loop the killer for 5 gens and not be hooked if we don't want to be tunnelled. I'm not kidding - those are literally the replies I've gotten tonight XD

"I do think both sides have responsibility towards the enjoyment of the otherside."
Why? Based on what criteria and reasoning?
By that logic I should be allowed to ban anything I want that reduces my fun of the match. Flashlights? Gone. Pallets? Gone. Window vaults? Bamboozled after every vault. Exit Gates? Regress now as soon as the Survivor's hand leaves the handle.
BHVR makes the rules of the game. No player should be at the mercy of the other side to dictate how they can play.
"Why? Based on what criteria and reasoning?"
Based on the fact that you're playing with actual human beings and shouldn't be going out of your way to make them deliberately miserable? How is that a difficult concept for you to understand? Other than the perk, do you have any empathy at all?
You can literally remove/disable/hinder everything you listed - you even mentioned a perk that does some of it yourself. I'm just saying an anti-tunnel perk should maybe actually stop you from being tunnelled, which I don't belive the current DS does. I think it needs a longer stun duration and maybe two activations.
"BHVR makes the rules of the game. No player should be at the mercy of the other side to dictate how they can play."
Really? You don't think BHVR has made any changes based on player feedback? Do you remember the changes to Freddy on launch? Are you new? They clearly do and have made changes based on player complaints. DS is one of them. I just feel it was slightly over nerfed.
As I've said multiple times now, we clearly don't see eye to eye. Not only do our views on gameplay vary, but also our views on how we treat people. Neither of us are gaining anything from interacting so please just stop replying to me.

What compromise is there to "I played badly and got hooked and now I blame the Killer for it"?
The faulty premise of that statement is that it is somehow the Killer's responsibility to make the game fun for Survivors. This is doubly true when you see that Survivors actively go out of their way to antagonize the Killer. This is a pathetic double standard that needs to end.
Well first and foremost, your assertion that you can only be downed if you played badly is false and insulting. You can play well and still be downed. Spirit for example, though mostly mindgames, is largely a 50:50 guess on both parts. Also, its very poor to not at least try and take aggro/a hook stage if your teammates are all on death hook and you haven't been hooked yet. To think getting downed once means you're trash is false and a highly flawed thought process.
Secondly, can we stop with the "all survivors" and "all killers" speak? You and I both know that's not a thing. I do think both sides have responsibility towards the enjoyment of the otherside. I know a lot disagree with this and think only their gameplay matters, but in an ideal world where people are actually considerate towards other human beings it would be ideal. We can all play the game in a way to make it as miserable experience for the otherside. I don't think that should be encouraged.

Think what you want, but im just glad survivors don't have their invincibility bubble that allowed them to play more brainless then a jellyfish and still be fine because they could hop in a locker or had ds I forgot about after I just hooked 2 other people and they were healthy when chase started. Or unhook in front of the killer and have ds available still so I literally cannot go for either because muh tunneling counter
Survivors can still hop in lockers to use ds so that hasn't changed.
I am very happy with the deactivation on working on gens, however I feel it has been overturned and if its not amended it will be very detrimental to the game

I'm not saying like unlimited but it would be cool to be able to boast about having let's say a Prestige 100 Myers or Freddy.
If someone really wanted to boast about patience, imagine a Prestige 100 Trickster...I don't anyone could do that and not go insane.
I would hate this. I have all killers and survivors prestiged (only p1 for new killer and survivor so far though) and am still missing a tonne of perks on a lot of characters. If I had to get to p100 to start unlocking the perks I actually wanted I would cry...

As I stated, we both have very differing viewpoints on this game.If your retorts to comments on game mechanics is "git gud" there's not much either of us can learn from one another, so either of us engaging with the other is a waste of both of our times.

I do play both sides and my Survivor rank is red and way better than my Killer rank. If anything that should suggest I'm Survivor biased and clearly I am not.
What I do is own up to MY screw-ups. If I immediately run left at match start, piss off two crows and get spotted by Leatherface (an actual scenario for me yesterday) and get downed in the next 15 seconds... that is on me. I do not run to these forums crying about how Leatherface is OP and needs to be nerfed and crows are unhealthy for the game and Scratch Marks shouldn't appear in the first five minutes of the game and pull the woe is me game that Survivor Mains pull on these forums.
I don't think any perks are crutch perks. Dead Hard is fine and so is NOED.
Everything you just said is wrong.
I just saw your discussion on how iridescent hatchets are perfectly balanced and people should stop complaining about them so I think I'm done listening to your opinions on anything.
I'm red rank on both sides and apparently disagree with you on most, if not all things, so let's just leave it there.

Retort: I don't want a piece of them I want the whole thing, im not going to go out of my way to spend 20 seconds to down a survivor freshly off hook just to leave them slugged because they have ds if I go after them Im going for all or nothing, which is why ds is annoying because they get rewarded for the fact they have the perk by both getting safety from an all or nothing approach or at the very least getting to waste the killers time while still being relatively safe.
Btw your connection between just because it acts like a free health state doesn't mean it gave free gen progression is pretty funny
Ds is in its best state, an anti tunnel perk
so you want to be able to freely tunnel survivors at anytime without any type of punishment? Gotcha.

It means that Killers kill. It's in the title. Crying that killers go after survivors is asinine.
Most of the complaints Survivors have are along the lines of "What am I supposed to do after I am already screwed!?" and fail to take responsibility for letting themselves get screwed in the first place.
If you are on the hook, you already failed in some capacity. With every successive Survivor failure, that sympathy for said failure diminishes. If you don't want to get tunneled off the hook, get better at not being hooked. If that sounds overly simplistic, it's because IT IS.
TL;DR - git gud
killers kill. and survivors... survive? I'm not going to ask for survivors to be immune to being injured. or that survivors shouldn't be able to be downed. it's dumb to say that something isn't detrimental to the game because you clearly don't play both sides. if you did you wouldn't be so cavalier about other people's experiences.
I take it youre the type of person that complains about survivor "crutch perks" but when survivors complain about something they view as unbalanced you retort with a groundbreakingly brilliant "git gud". A gamestyle you clearly can't learn yourself...

Killer who tunnel use DS.
Killer who camp use BT and DS and they introduce another perk in the stranger thing chapter for camping i think its cammaradrie or babysitter.
The DS nerf dont change anything if you get tunnel you have time to progress the game that mean you are not getting tunnel its a really nice nerf
The nerf has had a huge impact. The risk/reward is nowhere near balanced. The perk is hyper restrictive and even if used it doesn't give enough time/distance to end tunnelling. It's just gives a brief delay in dying.
If the perk is now to be an anti tunnell perk, and no longer anti momentum, that's fine. But it needs to actually significantly punish tunnellers now - especially since it won't activate unless being actively tunnelled.
-

The killer isn't going out of their way to ruin someone's game.
They are tactically removing a survivor as it is their game objective.
Quit trying to conflate tunneling with an act of malice.
They are trying to have an easy win by making sure they stop the other side from playing the game. If they're bringing a perk to stop tunnelling it should at the very least prevent them being tunnelled.
-
We tried it but toxic killers (which apparently is now the majority) will be the reason the changes get reverted/buffed.
This is why we can't have nice things.
-
@EvanSnowWolf said:
It doesn't punish the Killer?
How is a FIVE second stun in any way, shape, manner, or form NOT a form of punishment?
I don't think that's a fitting punishment. If a killer is going out of their way to ruin the game for someone and remove that person from the game, and that person is bringing a perk to specifically aid them in that given situation that literally does nothing else and will deactivate if that survivor does ANYTHING other than be tunnelled, that perk better do something hella godlike and ensure they actually escape. Hell at this stage I'd be cool if after the stun the entity teleports the survivor to a random locker.

"DS is worthless"
Oh boohoo it does what the hell it's supposed to, what ever shall we do without our free anti-momentum button???
Now that its a legitimate anti tunnel perk, you call it useless. Also like how you just call anyone who disagrees with you a Killer main, real funny.
but it isn't an anti tunnel perk. you're still being tunnelled and the killer won't stop going for you because you DS'd them 2 seconds ago.
True anti tunnel would work twice and hide sounds/scratch marks while active.
You literally cannot do anything to progress the game and keep it active. Let it actually help you if you're being tunnelled if that's the case.
-
@Unifall said:
If you didn't rely on it before why would you want a buff? Things like that doesn't make sense to me. But no it doesn't need buff. Now it's still anti tunnel you just can't sit on a gen in front of a killer.
Never needed it before because the fear of it put most killers off. The nerf made it significantly less desirable compared to other perks so killers are just playing like its not in play because it's likely not. And if it is? It's a very short stun anyway so why not eat it and continue the tunnel?
I'd it's meant to be an anti-tunnel perk now it needs to be more punishing to tunnelling killers.

that's your teammates' fault for farming you, not the game.
I mean if its a huntress thats waiting from a far or if the killer has camped you almost to death theres not much else they can try I guess?
I just think that for what is now an anti-tunnel perk it should be more punishing if you bring it - considering you literally cant do anything else with it anymore. Let it activate two times (for if they manage to get you unhooked) and maybe increase the stun to actually be punishing. If youre downed under a hook and get a ds stun, 9 times out of 10 you wont make it to cover before the killer has downed you again.

It's funny. All the white knights come out to to rebuke me when I act toxic, but I don't see y'all anywhere else. I bet most of you don't think tbagging or flashlight clicking is toxic either. Keep being selective, I guess.
I've even said in the reply to you that I call out teabagging and other survivor BMs.
The main difference is that survivor BMs are annoying but don't influence the game unless you let it. Killer BMs largely do when it involves tunnelling and removing people from the game.
-
BM stands for Bad Manners
-
When I see someone teabag I usually think, "oh you're a cocky one. Gonna enjoy making you humble with my own BMs"
I will never BM unless the otherside does first (to teach them a lesson or try pull aggro from a tunnelled teammate). If I play survivor and see a teammate BM I will scold them for it at endchat.
It's just peeps being idiots and jerks. It adds nothing to the game and is only used to annoy someone you don't know.

Probably wasn't as brutal a beatdown I did one time though. Was tired of my losing streak on Oni so next match I went nuts, STBFLing everybody, disrespecting DS and not caring that I got hit by it, chewing through Borrowed, tunneling, slugging, nodding my head, no mercy. Got a hilarious reaction from one of them. "What did I do to make you THAT mad?! Jesus Christ!"
Congratulations on perpetuating the toxicity this game is renowned for...?
It's kind of sad that you got ao triggered by losing that you went full BM on a group that had nothing to do with that behaviour.
Those 4 survivors will go on to run meta builds and now play toxic to 4 killers because they're "tired of [their] losing streak". The circle of life continues.
We all have bad games. Be mature and don't punish what could be rank 20s because you can't let go. I have no problem using any perks available in the game. And as much as tunneling and camping can be valid at times- I don't do it because it's skilless. The bad manners is unneeded and says so much about you and your mindset.
-
To me, that sounds more like an issue with your SWF teammate than the actual endgame chat itself...
-
I mean at that stage would it be better to remove the TR requirement entirely? Have it proc automatically for all unhooks regardless?
Its only 16 seconds and would be pretty difficult to abuse. By having it work in radius I think it would actually harm stealth killers more by giving info that they're near. An auto proc would mean you couldnt tell (unless you hear TR, obviously).
-
What would stop the sweat squads going into casual to destroy others.
