I've played him long enough. Here's my feedback:

Pretty reasonable smart changes. I like the plague comparisons as quite frankly its just so baffling how they made a killer thats just so fundamentally weaker then a majority of the killers base power elements. Main event being so awful to the oint actively using it hurts you is by and large the most aggregious awful mistake they could make.
100% expect that were gonna be waiting at least 6 months for even half of these changes being implemented. I hope I have to eat my words.
We can only hope that the fixes with come in only 3 months instead of 6...

Yes yes, go ahead and tell me how much you hate his killer main ass. He speaks nothing but truth.
Look, I don't hate the guy. But whenever I see a post about "X Youtuber has such a good opinion" it just makes me wish you'd stop venerating them so I can address their points fairly. It's very difficult to take what someone says at face value when all I hear is how great they are.
Again, I don't hate Scott. But every post like this I see builds up my resentment just a little more. Even if you completely agree with his opinions can you at least not put him onto a pedestal?

At the end of the game, when you see 4 survivors in an open gate, dancing the Teabag Boogie to your upcoming Entity Displeased ending screen, you can flip the script.
1.) Switch to your second screen.
2.) Bring up some luscious Enhypen on YouTube.
3.) Yell: "Jokes on you guys. You're my back-up dancers"...
4.) Start screeching along in completely mispronounced Korean.
The Trickster's real power.
Still better at downing survivors using his vocals than his knives.

You need to speak with more respect to these devs dude, they are probably some of the smartest people on the planet.
Almo and peanits are quite brilliant DBD players if you ever bothered to watch their streams/gameplay.
If that's sarcasm I detect them consider yourself having earned a chuckle.

- The Main Event is highly situational and often not useful when you activate it because survivors just run away.
my god, why does main event have a stun cooldown on top of an ability cooldown?
We can only guess at the ingenious thought process that created, shared, and ensured implementation of that idea into the game.
-
@Almo said:
It's a playbalance consideration. If you could turn it off or even down, it would be an advantage over people who didn't since it would not muffle the sounds of the Survivors.
But there's currently a lot of different tracks in the game that are tied to specific killers, with each one being either more or less capable of masking the noises of survivors.
Why not stop making exceptions and just give us the option to remove the music? It's not like we can even be guaranteed to hear survivors regardless since sounds are still globally bugged.

The 1 post is a giant red bait sign if I ever saw one.

You really circle-jerking a Killer being weak on release day rather than seeing how people play and learn how to play it first!
No wonder nobody can take this forum seriously.
I've played dozens of games with him on the PTB and on live he's virtually unchanged. He's terrible.
I don't need to fall down a cliff several times to tell you that doing so will instantly kill me. Just like how I don't need to play any more games with the Trickster to tell you that he's a terribly designed killer.

Yeah I was already thinking about buying the survivor rather than this weak killer since I watched them playing on ptb
Get anyone else other than the Trickster. Is not worth your time in the slightest.

I enjoy constantly running into obstacles in my path and using them to reach my goal, but my life is often being thrown into random directions despite my best attempts to get things where I want them to. But after taking my time to recover and reflect and I am ready to continue forward again.
Which killer do I main?
-
I think the better question is who cares about the Trickster? His power is woefully underpowered and it's frustrating to use at most loops. Without anything really unique going for him and the disproportionally high effort-to-reward ratio to do well in matches.
I think he'll be played a bit more than the Twins. But not by much. Only being chosen by people who really like his aesthetic.

When it comes to Trickster, they most likely did not change anything else than what they wrote two weeks ago. If there are any changes made to him, it will be on the Live Servers.
Shame. He needs way more than what they're giving him :/

I'll likely play him every now and then when I think up a gimmick build to run with him. But I hardly think it'll be fun most of the time.
-
A shame that taking time to fix the fundamentals of the game is not high on the dev's priority list. If it's even on there.
The wacky hitboxes that each killer shares, despite their wildly differently sized weapons, only serve to make the game more frustrating to play. But I can tell you now that they're not going to get fixed... :/

You've just been lucky. In my past 30 games or so I've run into 3 cheaters on separate occasions.

If you think it's bad now wait until the devs get around to reworking this map. Mark my words, they're going to make it even worse somehow.

Who on the balancing team thought that nerfing this perk was a good idea? A perk that requires the killer to;
- Injure a survivor twice
- With a basic Attack
- While another survivor repairs a generator
- And gets a good skill check
All to get information that several other perks give you but with twice the requirements. It blows my mind. Here is what the perk should have been:
After removing 2 health states from survivors by any means, the auras of generators being repaired will turn yellow until they stop being repaired.
Simple. Concise. Doesn't require 4 conditions just to get basic information. Why is this not the perk?
-
From experience most of the streamers I bump into are vain, self-indulgent egotists who think that because they have an audience their opinion is more important than anyone else's. Basically, they're just the average dbd player but given a soapbox and a megaphone. I despise them.
Every so often I find one that doesn't make me want to gargle molten glass. But they're so few and far between. However, regardless of the personality of the person who streams me, I do like seeing the match from someone else's POV if I'm trying out a different build.

@WoopinAngel said:
I see where your concern lies. Please read "Tunneling" which is under "How This Will Alleviate Some Issues". If you still think that tunneling is an issue, then read this:
Currently, if the killer tunnels one survivor the entire match and ends up putting the remaining three survivors in a 3v1 situation, then the survivors will have only repaired 3 hooks worth of generators, and can each be hooked three times. With the idea I've proposed, the remaining survivors will have repaired 9 hooks worth of generators, and can each be hooked only twice. This means that with the change, survivors will get roughly three times the time to repair generators before the first survivor dies, and the killer will have to hook each survivor 2/3 less. This still results in an advantage for the survivors, as their triple time saved trumps the killer's 2/3 time saved.
If this hasn't convinced you, please let me know!
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004886#Comment_2004886
Part of this issue is the disparity between the number of hooks you get with the number of kills you get. I've addressed this issue in "Hooks vs. Kills" under "How This Will Alleviate Some Issues". If that section wasn't clear or if you still have the same concerns, then read this:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004801#Comment_2004801
If you need clarification on anything or still disagree with me, please let me know why and I'll respond as soon as I can!
I think that forcing the killer to wait out an 8 minute timer is not the answer to deter tunnelling and camping. In a lot of scenarios such as survivors who go down next to 99'ed gens or after the exit gates have been opened, the best possible decision the killer can make is to camp them. The extended timer punishes them for punishing the survivors. Which I don't think is the way to go.
Instead, killers should be given some incentive to go after the other survivors. For the end game this can be as simple as being able to close the exit gates, forcing other survivors to either open it again or abandon their team mates. But in the early game I believe the killer needs some new kind of mechanic that activates upon hooking different survivors.
Perhaps suspending generator completion in accordance with how many hooks the killer has if someone is currently hooked? This would buff killers that would otherwise be weak because of their inability to get downs quickly by stopping the number of completed gens from reaching a certain amount of they hadn't gotten enough hooks.
For example: if the killer hooks someone for the first time after 2 gens have popped, chasing another survivor would prevent gen repairs from going over a certain percentage. Survivors would have to spread out their repairs until the killer gets another hook. At which point they would be free to complete another gen.
This idea certainly needs more refining. But what do you think of it so far?
-
The way Deathgarden's system worked was the hunter had to down a minimum of 5 runners before being able to execute them. So if there was a team of skilled runners who got matched up with a mediocre runner, the hunter would be able to easily down the weak link multiple times and instantly kill one of the other runners if they get downed.
Match making was usually ok in my experience. But if this same system was added into dbd it would be horrendous because of how players are matched up together by the flawed emblem system.
-
I'm argue against this with a reminder of the last game that tried this; Deathgarden.
Among a lot of reasons the game was sadly killed off was the shared life that the runners had. If even a single weak team mate was found then the hunter would capitalize and damage the entire team as a result. With dbd's match making this problem would only be made worse.
I don't think this system should be implemented.

A shame that a dozen more bugs on top of the ones already in the game will break several other killers in various ways.

Compound 21 helps a lot on indoor maps. Other than that, stick to the corridors at the edge of the map when patrolling and save your rush for when you can quickly land a hit at loops.

Money. Plain and simple.
Although to be quite honest, if they'd take a Chapter and do an overall game health update, with some cool new skins so the design team can put in their two cents, they'd probably attract more customers and make more money than on a new Chapter release. Being able to say "We took a break from constant content release and fixed things to make your experiences better" as a promotion would be a money maker by itself.
If only they didn't have the undeserved confidence that they currently do. Then maybe they'd consider fixing their game instead of adding to its list of problems with underwhelming content.

How bout no? Mori's are already safety nets for killers as is. The yellow green and red are the perfect "Oh, I get to tunnel because you saved someone." This is the simplest way to get hella survivors down your back because Killers get to pick and choose which moei they want to play. Getting mori'd is already bad enough, having more of them or having killers get to pick favorite's is worse.
Safety net? You are aware they've been nerfed to have almost no effect on gameplay right?
Greens and Reds only work if the survivor is on death hook, and the yellow only works on the last survivor.
I see zero reasons why updating and giving killers more kill animations would be a bad thing.

It is truly old code. The fundament of this perks is the code from the early stage from the game. They were not that experienced at that time and they had a smaller team.
I think bc of this code the game can be such a bugfest.
Really makes you wonder why they don't take a much needed break from their content gouging and fix some of the game's code that hasn't been touched since it released.

The moment DBD stops making money is the day either the game is finally getting fixed or completely abandoned.

I believe the perk works on a sort of tier system and because there is no tier lower then brown it messes up. The fact plunderers works fine makes me think there is actually another tier above pink which is just pink as well. I'm guessing adding another brown tier messes up things quite a bit and they'd have to rework the tier system otherwise.
If they coded plunderer's where it just doesn't effect the highest tier then I have no idea why they can't do the same and just have hoarder not effect the lowest tier.
That's all just my own speculation though. I have no idea how those perks function or are coded so I could be way way off. I do believe they explained it in a comment some time back, I'll see if I can find it.
Edit: Found the quote.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YW2GE5YCO1PK/dfg-png.png
It must be some truly old code then. It should be a simple matter of: "- X percent chance for Very Rare + Ultra Rare items".
If they have to make an entire new loot table just the perk function then either they had to do the same for Plunderer's, or back then changing the chance of finding items didn't shake the foundations of the games code. But either way, that is some hilariously inept coding to work with.
I can't even begin to imagine what it might be linked to. Would changing the loot tables cause every survivor to have a 2000% chance to kobe or turn every single chest item into a brown toolbox? Boggles the mind how deep this runs.

Glad we can at least agree on the first point.
It's less so just DBD, moreso wide-spread representation. Having LGBT+ characters in media that everyone consumes (like, for example She-Ra was incredibly popular among children and featured LGBT+ characters, as did Steven Universe) normalises it for everyone. If it's completely normalised then said bullying won't be an issue, because everyone will view it as normal, rather than incredibly abnormal (which is, unfortunately, still the case in many places in the world today). It's not exclusively DBD will change the world, but it's a step.
Would showing LGBT characters for the sake of showing them, rather than because they add to the media they are apart of, not make them seem irregular and work against normalising them?
-
@NomiNomad said:
Well, seeing as I'm a straight guy with little to no knowledge on the subject, I'll throw in my two cents on the matter.
For people saying "they need to take time to fix the game", they won't. They simply won't. Whoever runs the dev's schedule simply does not give them time to do anything but make new content. Complaining about a possibly LGBT+ won't change that. So what does it matter if people get the representation they want? From what I have seen, people want actual representation, not just "Gay McGee". They just want an actual character who happens to be gay. Not a character whose entire thing is being gay.
For the people saying "it doesn't affect gameplay", well, neither will them being LGBT+. The lore of the character doesn't affect gameplay, so why even bring that up? All it serves is to make people happy or give that skin your using more character.
For people saying "it would be pandering" this entire game is pandering. Most media is pandering. In a media-driven culture like the one a lot of people live in, everything is pandering. If BHVR wants to do it to make the game more inclusive, which they seem to want to
If it really doesn't matter to you, why even say it at all? Just because it doesn't matter to you doesn't mean it won't matter to someone else. I just don't get the backlash these threads get. Just let people be happy with the idea, jesus.
Since the first point was the only one I have made I'll respond to just that.
The devs will never have enough time to properly patch the game if no one complains and sales do not drop. For all of their faults the devs have been shown to respond if enough backlash is received. Giving them any lenience for any reason will just be used as an excuse to continue on their currently schedule. I will continue to state how flawed it is until they change it and begin properly fixing the game.
It's not like there's much else I can do anyway.

Correct, it shouldn't matter. But it does, because people still get bullied and harassed on the basis of their identities and how they express themselves. So until this is no longer the case, an LGBT+ people are still fully normalised (I mean, for ######### sake there are still countries where if you're openly gay you can be put to death), representation is needed.
I think we both agree that being bullied and harassed based on factors completely out of your control is bad.
But how is an update to DBD that involves a (possibly) non-straight character going to help in any way? This seems like an issue well outside the bounds of video games.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
to everyone saying it doesn't matter:
Correction- it doesn't matter to you. To some other people, being represented in media is actually massive. It shows that yes, you're normal, you're a person, and you deserve to live (which considering some of the ######### I've been told before, is a pretty big thing). So whilst you may not care, other people do and it makes a difference to them.
and to everyone talking about pandering:
I didn't see you say pandering when Zarina or Elodie or any other non-white character was added. I didn't see you say pandering when straight relationships were introduced into the game and have been since The Last Breath. I didn't see you say pandering to fans of media with Licensed Chapters. I didn't see any issues with it then, so why is it only an issue when it involves the sexualities of characters?
My existence isn't political, and shouldn't be treated as such. It's not politics. It's not 'shoving it down your throat'. It's someone's life. And it's normal.
It shouldn't matter to anyone. You, me, everyone, does not need their existence validated by fictional characters.
To tie your importance to how much your most superficial traits are shown in fictional media, is to reduce your importance as a human being to just a product of what media that surrounds you. This is extremely unhealthy and self destructive.
I don't care about the sexualities of the any of the characters in this game. I care about it's quality. For yet another update to be added in, regardless of what sexuality the characters will have, just breaks the game more and expands its list of issues.

O but the team should be able to continue to make the content they are supposed to while the bug fix and QA team(if they even have one) do theirs
Anyway without new content most of us would leave as it keeps the game fresh
The problem is that the amount of work that the programmers have to do is massively out of proportion compared to the artists. Because every patch creates more bugs than they are able to fix in the 3 month timespan until the next major update.
All they're doing now is layering bugs on top of bugs when they need to dedicate more time to fixing them instead of making more.

That's a lot of words for something that could easily be summarised as "The inclusion of more diversity in the survivor roster is totally pointless and does nothing for the game balance and performance, why do you care so much about being represented when it doesn't even matter"
Almost everything you wrote is incredibly insulting and demeaning for the sake of it, not because it's actually logical.
You would say the same about the inclusion of POC? People of different races, genders, nationalities, backgrounds? Why the ######### is including another human such a controversial thing to you people?
Yes, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter in the same way that if the entire survivor cast was full of carbon copies of Dwights and Megs, it wouldn't affect gameplay at all. Claudette, Elodie, Feng, Yui, Adam, Tapp, Jake, Their inclusion in the game is pointless because they add NOTHING to the game other than diversity and lore. What the ######### makes an LGBT survivor so damn controversial to you people that you feel the need to almost literally tear down other people for caring about being represented in a video game. It's such a small thing for you, but a huge thing for those it affects.
I'm basically ranting at this point, and you can dissect my post piece by piece and show me how wrong I am. I won't be responding in this thread anymore after this because it's not even lunch time and I'm already mentally drained. Enjoy your damn day.
You are very incorrect in assuming I wrote everything I did just to demean someone else. And your summary is grossly oversimplified.
But since this whole thing as clearly stressed you out I'm just going to write what I mean in the barest possible way:
I have 0 zero problem with LGBTQ characters being put into the game.
I have a massive problem with the game's bloated and buggy content, and people's attitude that because the new character might not be straight their addition should be welcome despite the further instability they will add to the game.
I'm sorry my arguments distressed you. My intent was to convince. Not belittle.
