I will buy something from Behavior when they release a good product.

If they do not release a good product, they will not get money.

People who pressure others into knowingly buying bad product to 'support the creator' are not in good grace, nor in proper standing.

No soul alive should ever feel pressured to buy a bad product for "Support" reasons.

Behavior is not a charity case, they have more than 4 ways they get money from their game.

If they did something wrong, don't buy it. When they do something right, do buy it.

If you like the Skull Merchant, good - buy it!

If you don't like the Skull Merchant, good - don't buy it!

Trying to bully, plead, or otherwise coerce someone to not buy something they enjoy - or buy something they don't is not any proper way to conduct one's self.

way to be overdramatic lol, i did not bully anyone

  • Dead Hard is so tough to actually pull off. It is not really possible to react to a Killer swing and activate DH. All survivors have to predict a killer swing, and blindly guess. This means that Killers can easily bait it.

The fact that Killers have been whining about DH shows how entitled Killers are. It's so easy to bait and make them fail.

  • Dead Hard is so tough to actually pull off. It's very easy to mind game. Once Killer is on you, he just waits and baits it. It's impossible for a Survivor to react to a Killer swing. Survivor's have to PREDICT ahead of time when Killer will swing, and that's mind gameable.

So I guess you didn't like the chapter because you bought it with Shards, a fake game currency that does nothing to support BHVR as a business.

If they really wanted to convince people to buy their stuff, they'd remove Iri shards from the game completely and rebalance Auric Cell prices accordingly.

or just go all out, and go Free to Play and expand the microtransaction store. All the new player influx, some of those players will fall in love with DBD and start buying the old chapters to catch up

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I "bought" it already with Shards

But it's on BHVR to convince people to buy their stuff. It's not on the consumer to blindly throw money at a company and hope they do good with it.

If BHVR can't convince people of that, it's on BHVR. You can't blame your customers when you release a bad product for not buying your bad product.

the point is BHVR has a track record of always trying to fix things. They care. So why starve them of money, the very funds they need to keep working? BHVR's track record of always trying to improve speaks for itself.

Nurse, Blight, Huntress, Spirit and Wesker were killswitched for 2 weeks because of some bugs. Who would you play? How would you feel about it? Would you still play killer?

As a Survivor main, I like playing against Blight. I have no problem with Wesker or Spirit either. Huntress is a tad annoying because she guarantees a hit on you when you drop a pallet, but it's fine.

  • @Laluzi said:

You're completely missing the point. Skull Merchant needs to be changed, not nerfed, because her power is only good for a crappy stall gameplay that's fun for absolutely nobody. She completely sucks otherwise - that's why everyone is doing it. And it's disingenuous to think that people only ask for one of these things to be changed and not the others, tbh. People have been complaining about pallet density and crappy map design since the game launched. One issue does not invalidate the other.

30-minute stalemate games are not healthy for DBD.

man, BHVR needs some fresh blood and ideas in their HQ.

I will say though, that I really like the new minigame when you disable the drones. They could have easily just made it skillchecks again.

This game needs more interactive features like that, to make Generators less of a prio.

  • so... Skull merchant is now popular, and unfortunately she's not only anti-loop, she's also a 3gen camper, with passive exposed if you try to disable the drones or work on the gens in it's radius. What's worse, if you say you'll take the risk anyway, she then sneaks up on you with no red light or terror radius.

Okay. I'm sure killers are having fun. At least I won't see as many Knights now, because I'll be 3 gen camped by SM.

Ah yes. When I play killer I love nothing more than wasting time chasing survs in circles around a pallet. It's such an interesting playstyle.

You can't expect there to be no counters to such a widely used tactic. Killer would be unplayable if there was no antiloop.

You just need to switch up your tactics against different killers. If one mechanic us the only thing you enjoy about the game perhaps you should find a different one to play. Or play against m1 bot killers in customs perhaps.

    What other mechanics is there?

    Hold M1 on generator

    Hide

    Chase

That's the entirety of Survival gameplay offered in this game.

It's the Killers who have all the choices in how the game goes.

Right, so playing survivor just to hold a button on gens and then die in 30s is fun?

I play killer to chase, I play survivor to be chased. We have plenty of options for chases as a killer (powers), why should survivors(skins) be denied of the only thing they can do and not have a choice but to die after a preset ammount of time? Smh.

Not to mention if you get looped for too long it's your fault, you can literally just go after someone else, or like I said play another game, if you think you're entitled to have the game handed over to you.

Also, if someone here doesn't have fun chasing people, then maybe killer isn't for you? What else is there to even do lol.

    My thoughts exactly.

So then what do you want?

If looping is the only thing you enjoy, but you don't want the killer to chase you?

Oh now you're just being disingenuous. You know the difference between a killer giving up chase on me VS a Knight mechanic that completely denies loops.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3354765#Comment_3354765

Because however long you want to loop the killer as a survivor, the killer can only afford to loop you for 1/8th of that time, or they lose the game.

Anything more than about 30-45 seconds per chase is a lost game. Killer is literally based around making chases as short as possible.

The killer has four survivors to chase and loop 2-3 times each. You need to occupy yourself with something else for the 75% of the time you're not the target.

If all you want to do is loop the killer for 5 minutes, you go play another game then.

Any good killer will break off chase from a good survivor, and go after weaker prey.

If you chase someone too long, that's not looping fault, that's your own fault.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/365947/as-a-survivor-main-after-1-5k-hours-of-dbd-the-only-thing-i-find-fun-is

Have you thought about whether killers are having fun getting looped by you all game with nothing they can do about it except eat pallets and chase you to the next safe loop?

You're just whining though. There's a lot of things Killers can do. The game is Killer sided by nature, it's designed for you to catch all of us and get 4K. You run faster than us and only get faster with bloodlust, each pallet you destroy makes the map more favorable to you, etc. And you shouldn't chase the really strong survivors first anyway. As soon as you see a survivor is a really good looper, break off and go find weaker prey. That's how good killers in high MMR do it. When you get the weaker ones out, then it's easier to chase the stronger ones with no worry of gen progress.

Every pallet you destroy, is permanently gone from the map. Making future chases in that area very simple. If the Killer knows how to chase, then a survivor can get maybe 1 or 2 good loops before being forced to drop a pallet. Now that pallet is gone forever from that area. And now the survivor maybe goes to an unsafe pallet next. Rinse and repeat. With every pallet gone, killer only gets stronger, because pallets are a limited resource.

As Survivors, what do we have? Hold M1, hide, or loop. That's about it. And Hiding is boring and only makes the next survivor get chased anyway. Oh, but antiloop mechanic, so the chase sucks too.

  • @Xernoton said:

It's not like every anti-loop killer is as oppressive as Knight and Artist. You can still loop most killers in the game. It's just not braindead running around an object before dropping the pallet, rinse and repeat. Technically every single killer in DBD has some kind of an anti-loop. Trapper has the ability to instantly shut down any loop, Wraith does have an extended lunge after uncloaking, Hillbilly can use his chainsaw as a form of anti-loop, Nurse can literally go through objects, Huntress can throw hatchets over small loops, Doctor has a shock that prevents you from vaulting and dropping pallets, Myers has a faster vault and extended lunge (in tier 3), Hag doesn't really chase and also has the ability to shut down any loop, Bubba has his chainsaw, Freddy has Dream Snares etc. You can loop even Wesker and Blight. Of course you need to play different than you would against a Trapper but it's not like Shift + W is your only option.

Complaining you don't like anti-loop killers is pretty much admitting that you want to turn off your brain while playing DBD. How fun do you think it is for a killer to be unable to deal with loops? You run around the object, sometimes try to go for a mindgame and still the best you can do is get a pallet out of the way a bit earlier. Great. Very engaging and thrilling gameplay.

Killers who remove chase ...... basically the only fun thing a survivor can do, just defeats the whole purpose of playing that role

Out of the recent Killer releases from BHVR, it's what? look at how many recent killer releases are anti-loop killers? Artist? Dredge? Knight? and now another one coming?

If BHVR wants to kill looping, then tell me what do Survivors do? Just close our eyes and hold W so we can be your mousey toy plaything until you down and hook us, and inbetween that stellar gameplay, we have holding M1 and staring at the screen.

  • I hate Knight, I hate his design. As a Survivor main, he ruins the small amount of fun I have left in DBD. Holding W to run in a straight line until you get to down your prey is not fun for Survivors.

  • I own exactly 0 Funko pops. DBD Funko pops would have been my first and only Funko pops.

I would want one of my favorite survivors in my favorite skins

  • @ad19970 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3354700#Comment_3354700

OK that is understandable. Having to just run away from loops everytime he drops a guard is really not very interesting gameplay, I agree.

I was just curious because I think some people might assume you mean anti-loop killers in general. But there are good anti-loop killers like Wesker or Blight for example, that have tools against loops, but survivors also have fair counterplay against those anti-loop abilities as well. That's the design BHVR should try to strive for.

Yes I like going up against Blight or Wesker etc. Blight has counter-play, you can make him miss in several ways. And when a Blight curves a corner and somehow lands a crazy hit, I usually congratulate him on a really nice play. It's fun. Sometimes when a Blight is running at me, I'll just turn around and run right at him to make him miss by not being ready, as I run right past him in opposite direction, it's funny. Have you ever watched The Hunt For Red October, a submarine movie from a long time ago with Sean Connery as a Russian submarine Captain? He turns into a torpedo and goes straight at it, hitting it before it has a chance to arm itself. Fun concept.

But back to Knight. There is no counter-play to Knight except hold W in a straight line. He just denies entire zones and all you can do is hit W. Those guards even walk through pallets and windows really fast and will hit you quick if you just don't hold W.

As I said, what is left in DBD? BHVR doesn't release new game mechanics. All we have are holding M1 on Generators, using lockers, and then the pallet looping. That's it. Yet BHVR keeps releasing anti-loop killers like Artist and Knight. Even Dredge is a bit anti-loopy. But they really went overboard with KNIGHT.

And now I hear there is another anti loop killer about to come? Like, really? Is BHVR just catering to killer whining at high MMR? They are going to keep bleeding players because what is left for fun as a Survivor? M1 simulator is not it.

  • @G_Hunters said:

So,to summarize, looping the killer using strong (and unbalanced?) map tiles through all game is fine, but,if somehow the developers release a killer that have the potential to deal with those tiles, then that character is broken and takes no skill to use and there is no counterplay 🤣.

Are we going to ignore the banner mechanic? The fact you can see the area of guards detection and avoid it?

And don't tell me you think that the new updated knight mechanic where the orb gets invisible on distance takes no skill too (You have to predict where the survivor will be,that sounds kinda skillful to me,unless you think Spirit takes no ability to play too, then I don't know what to say).

I'm sorry, but all this hate seems to me the result of saltiness and entitlement for not being used to face these types of characters and not wanting to adapt to a new mechanic.

Let's start to be more honest with our takes on the game please.

Of course, everyone have their opinions, and these must be respected, but saying that a character takes no skill to use sounds a but extreme to me.

Why do you even want to play DBD if you don't want to do chases??? The whole point is to chase the survivor and kill him.

Against Knight there is no skill involved. It isn’t looping, it is just holding W until you go down. It is mindnumbingly boring.

I'm tired of devs just releasing pure anti loop killers honestly. Artist, Nurse, but now especially KNIGHT.

The only thing fun about DBD is being in chases and looping. Otherwise you sit at a gen and hold M1 all game.

  • @Piruluk said:

Knight will be extremely popular because its impossible to loop, and has 0 skill expression, so you can destroy survivors even with very little xp, and using the 3 gen exploit.

Yes he is oppressive with his guards. On 3 gens, on hooks, denying loops. It's just so not fun to play against

  • @ad19970 said:

What killers do you enjoy going against? Hard to tell what you mean with anti-loop. What about weskers anti-loop for example?

This post was inspired by my hatred of Knight, and seeing him in almost every other game lately. He is what I mean by anti-loop, those guards are so boring.

I like going up against Michael Myers, Wesker, Blight, and a lot of other killers. It's just Knight, man. And Nurse too. But this post was mostly inspired by Knight. I don't know why they designed him like that. His hook camping is so annoying too.

It takes all the fun out of my games because being chased is the best part of DBD as a survivor main.

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3354546#Comment_3354546

Because anti-loop killers have deficiencies in other areas and alternate playstyles that are more effective against them.

What you find most fun about the game isn't true for everyone. Not every Killer, nor every Survivor. And, like, that's how multiplayer games go. The more focused you get on a single aspect of gameplay, the less fun you're going to have.

Anyway, the thing about Knight is he'll probably drop way down again in a few weeks. Tome boost and all.

Then there's nothing more for DBD to offer me then. It's being in a chase, or holding M1 on a generator.

    Bye

  • @RainehDaze said:

So, you don't like any Killer that gets to use their power against you?

Anyway, of course there are lots of Knights around. You need to use him to do the current tome.

Why even have pallets then? If you're okay with anti-looping killer mechanics like Knight. We'll all just hold W and be cannon fodder so you can have fun playing Killer.

  • OP calling us "entitled"

    nope

I play against Blight's just fine.

However, I hate Nurse and think she should be scrapped and re-worked completely.

  • @JoByDaylight said:

It would be interesting to see stats including DC’s as well. At least in my games the DC’s happen mostly when the game is literally lost while laying slugged etc. Not at the start of the game, that problem is way gone for me. The fact that those games don’t count could mean a little in the bigger picture - especially with Nurse who I get stomped by way too often.

Yup, I said the same thing.

Not counting DC's is the wrong move. People DC for a reason. Either they're getting stomped, or rage quitting for losing, or whatever. That should count.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3232882#Comment_3232882

No, it should not count. Just because a survivor doesn't like a killer doesn't mean they are strong. If they looked at DCs and counted them then legion would probably be considered the "strongest killer in the game" even though they aren't.

    We have different goals.

You want to know which killer is "strongest"

I want to know which killers are a problem for the health of the game. If counting DC's means it catapults Nurse into 60%+, then this is a very important statistic that needs to be known and addressed for the health of the game. Why are people leaving her games, etc. The opinion of a large portion of the playerbase matters. Goal of game design is for everyone to have fun.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3232843#Comment_3232843

That's not the only reason the stats are misleading, that was just a single example, but do they factor out hook suicides? What about survivors that go afk? What about SWF?

More than half the time someone DC's in my games, is because killer downed them first.

This should count. Especially in cases like Nurse, whom players hate and get downed quickly against.

  • @TheSubstitute said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3232871#Comment_3232871

They're the BHVR stats so they are all the games played in September where there were no DCs (which would throw off the data if games with DCs were included since nobody can say if those games were winnable or not before the DC).

DC's should count. A lot of people DC when they get first downed by a Nurse, for example.

    Not including DC's... is wrong

  • May I ask where these stats come from?

Are they official BHVR stats pulled from the server logs of every single DBD game played during that month?

or is it 3rd party website, self submission reporting from the few players who even bother to go there and cherry pick what they upload?

  • Those stats aren't really official though are they. Are they pulled from the servers across every single game played? If not, then they're pulled from self-submission reports on a 3rd party website, by the few players who even bother to go to that website and upload photos. And they don't do that for every game anyway.

  • @neb said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3232551#Comment_3232551

Well it'd be really hard for killers to loop on tiles with strong windows, and it'll become a lot easier as survivor. The existence of medium vaults makes looping much more skillful and harder. Personally I don't have any issues with looping. You have to know when to medium vault, like if you have enough distance from the killer. If you can't reach the window since all you can do is medium vault, maybe try faking the window or 360ing?

Medium vaults didn't exist once upon a time, and it was horrible.

Then we will add more changes to fix the rest.

For survivors, remove medium vaults, so survivors aren't forced into medium vaults when they don't want it.

To balance this for killers, re-design all the auto-generated jungle gyms and stuff on every map. There aren't that many maps, you can do this. Go to every single window/vault location on every map, and/or fix the auto generation tiles, so that the fast vaults would be more balanced.

Think about it - you are saying it's horrible if someone only fast vaults... but that it is entirely possible right now if a Survivor has incredible practice and timing and knows how to hit the angles. So some survivors are making the game horrible for you, right now. But everyone else, who can't hit them, at different MMR's... are having a different experience. These changes seek to make it more uniform across the board.

My suggestion removes your problem. Now the game is more fun for both sides. All survivors of all skill levels have more control over their character instead of being roped into an animation they do not want (which is not fun), and all killers of all skill levels have more uniform and fair chases against the survivors they encounter.

This makes the game more fun and gives it a uniform experience across all MMR's. Looping will be more of the fast decision making you do on where to run, instead of some stupid fraction of a second, hit the right angle, medium vault crap. It doesn't even make sense as to why a Survivor would go into a medium vault with a killer behind you anyway

  • @neb said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3228312#Comment_3228312

I mean your opinions are usually biased too. If the post is suggesting a net positive to survivors, you agree. If it's anything remotely negative to or about survivor, then you disagree.

"some opinions are biased" no, all opinions are biased. It's impossible to get an unbiased opinion, because humans by nature are all inherently biased.

no, it's not impossible. some people are fair and consider both sides. like me.

I prioritize FUN for both sides when I pitch my ideas. Because that is the ultimate goal of game design, for everyone playing to be having a fun, competitive time.

  • @neb said:

what in your infinite knowledge and experience made you come to this idea

If you're a survivor, medium vaults are a hindrance and a thorn in side, they get them downed when they don't want it.

If you are in a chase, you want a fast vault 100% of the time.

If you are not in a chase, you want a slow vault.

Medium vaults are useless for survivors and it makes no sense to force me into one when I don't want to.

Medium vaults are only helpful for the killer. They ruin loops when you're trying to go for the fast vault angle and you have to time the space bar button within a fraction of a second to hit "Running Vault" prompt, or else it goes back to Medium vault.... which gets you downed by killer. It's really annoying getting hit with a medium vault and watching your character on the other side of the window, what should be outside of m1 range.... but still being downed by killer.

  • @Milkymalk said:

I like playing against Nurse. It's harder to juke her, but if you are in the right spot for it, you can lead her on for the full 5 gens. In fact, I did almost exactly that just 2 weeks ago. Saved screenshots of the scoreboard for funs :) I was playing on Gold 1. One really long chase at the start for 3 gens, then she largely ignored me and went for the rest. The game went on for quite a while because we had a moderate 3-gen going on. I think it was a fun game for everyone in the end.

    you played a bad nurse.

a good nurse, you will never run for 5 gens okay.

this is the issue with discussing these things. people will play bad killers in their low MMR games and come to different conclusions that are entirely wrong.

go up against a good Nurse and you won't last 5 gens, I promise.

  • I said this months and months ago.

Nurse is a terrible, UNFUN design.

She breaks one of the core mechanics of the game - the "Chase" aspect of a survivor running from a killer.

The Doctor is another design I don't think is fun, but I will play against him.

But Nurse? I'd have nixed that design as soon as someone proposed it

  • @Ghostofsnow said:

How about an activatable perk that makes fast ones but on a cooldown? That way you can have fast vaults when needed or if you aren't talented at good running but sacrafice a slot for it

or this. I would use a perk slot for this. Getting medium vaults and getting downed by killer as you are literally on the other side of a window just sucks.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3232490#Comment_3232490

That’s not a great idea. It makes looping well around tiles much less skillful and certain tiles way stronger due to no longer forcing medium vaults.

How would clown and Freddy even work? Their main power is basically to force medium vaults at windows for hits

    Okay, then how about this.

Just remove Medium vaults and not replaced by anything. So the only prompts are slow vault, and running vault -IF- I get the angle right. So I can spam space bar while running from the killer and trying to get the angle right.

Right now, medium vaults annoy me. I'll get a medium vault when trying to angle for a fast vault because of how the space bar prompt works and the angles. Sometimes it's only a fraction of a second to hit the Running Vault prompt... it sucks, i'm not a robot with robot reaction speed. It's really annoying when you're trying to angle correctly for a fast vault, and you hit space bar a fraction of a second wrong, and boom, you get a medium vault instead and get downed by killer. I really dislike that.

  • @Phasmamain said:

So a fast vault regardless of angle? That was how it used to be before that realised it was way too easy to loop

maybe all medium vaults are now fast vaults

Yeah spending bp should be faster. For example they could add an OPTION to complete a blood web automatically so you just get random stuff. Or they make it so you can buy the nodes with one click, without the entity delay and without holding the button to buy.

    win

When I get tired of getting spawned in front of the killer, left to die on the hook or I had an awful streak of team mates, I run Sole Survivor, Lightweight, Distortion and Calm Spirit (yes, I know people hate it, but it helps a lot preventing any value from scream perks like Iron Maiden and entirely counters the Doctor's power)

If you see me running this, I'm sorry but I'm tilted off the face of Earth. I will try to be a proper team mate, but if I see you doing stupid 💩 like the team mates in my last 10 matches, you're on your own.

See, you know what Im talking about.

I just sat down to play a couple games after watching nfl sunday. I sometimes will run Bond to see where my team is. I should have recorded it, but I legit saw TWO of my teammates crouched next to each other, doing NOTHING but just hiding, while the Laurie ran killer pretty well, and I was doing a generator all alone. They literally sat there crouched for about 1 minute and 30 seconds+ doing nothing.

That's understandable, but as you've mentioned or haven't mentioned - The point is clear; Your build is a selfish centered one, focused on yourself while providing other survivors with little to no benefits.

I'm a different kind of a person even in real life.. And I got used to it, so I just try to help whenever I can, even if it means to prioritize others receiving benefits or advantages while I get put into a disadvantage or worse situation thanks to my actions helping other people. It's quite silly, isn't it?.. But I just can't have fun if I know that I'm not, at least a bit, providing help to other people around me, regardless of the consequence(s).

lol equating IRL to a video game

and im not here to carry teammates. im here to have fun, and you better carry your weight or you suck

  • Actually the opposite. Every single game, I go for the hardest gen on the map. Usually in the middle of the map, in the main building or out in the open. I gladly take first chase and run killer for a long time. Usually killers give up on me and go somewhere else.

Do you honestly think your teammates appreciate your build and play style?

If survivors ever got to see each other’s perks in the lobby screen, do you honestly think you wouldn’t get a lot of lobby dodges?

Do you think I appreciate when you suck and can't loop and get hooked within 20 seconds of killer giving up on me?

Do you think I appreciate it when I run killer for a long time and gens don't get done?

Do you think I appreciate it when someone is on hook and nobody cares to save and lets them go to second hook stage on first hook, after running killer for a long while?

I could go on. But please, keep writing of the struggles of the innocent Solo Q player. Anyway I am out of time and have to go for now.
