Bubba and NOED are both acceptable reasons to leave.

NoED at least you can play around. Bubble you generally can't unless you have Mettle of Man and Borrowed Time.

  • If Bubba is camping I just genrush and leave. No point going for a save really unless you just want everyone to die.

  • I'm a die-hard survivor main. I love playing survivor because I went into DBD looking for a hide and seek experience as one of the "hiders."

That doesn't mean I don't play Killer though ettttttvery now and then (usually when survivor queues are terrible). I understand both sides of the coin.

Everyone should do it so they understand the game better.

I'm pretty sure that Ive made a post about this already, but recently Ive been seeing a lot more medkits. Probably because of how absurdly good they are and how they pretty much destroys a killers split pressure.

Having 2 or more medkits means that any chance of preventing a heal is gone and gens will go by faster due to the mass reduced healing time and increased chase times. Now that's their purpose, which isn't an issue, but to the extent they do it too is an issue.

To sum it up, they do their job too well and makes it hard if not impossible to get good pressure on a map against people who just rapidly heal. Splitting heals across multiple survivors isn't possible when the entire team can be fully healed in something like 30 seconds flat.

(Also get the "hurr durr killer main complaining" speech out)

No this hot take is absurd.

Healing was already nerfed, medkits were already nerfed, also when healing was nerfed it resulted in the ultra genrush meta. Be careful what you wish for. Nerfing medkits any further will simply result in survivors just going back to genrushing and your pressure will disappear up in smoke even more.

  • As survivor, I hate them both.

As Killer, I love them both.

  • LOL in this topic you can tell who the console players are. They're all complaining about 360s.

  • What the hell is that. It's like you're playing on a mobile phone.

  • 40% conversion is not fine.

Flip Flop will almost never work, wiggle is not something that is reliable, and you will find that even 50% conversion is too little.

But a lot of people use BBQ and Chili for example. Which is a Leatherface perk. It’s just I Main trapper and use to do decent at least. Now I’m lucky to even get one kill.

You don't need BBQ to kill survivors.

Learning how to track survivors is more important. You always find your first survivor without BBQ. Apply that skill to each survivor.

The truth of this game is that, as you go up in ranks your opponents get more skilled, and thus play better than you. A lot of people try to downplay or ignore this fact for whatever reason, but your opponents do get better as you go up, and that is true for both sides. And this game is more about skill than anything else.

    Sorry but TLDR, git gud.

@ me. The new update essentially brought us back to square one before 4.5.0 because most of you are so friggin whiny. I actually enjoyed some of the new animations and didn't want anymore twitchy, unnatural survivor movement to drop frames and screw hits that should land. I'm not talking about Dsync that was awful. But now I don't even feel a difference with the movement at all. You might as well uproot and remove all the other things. I was hoping this would force survivors to learn how to use pallets and loop rather than going stealth the entire game, or being so upset that they got caught within the first minute of the game just so they can DC on hook. BHVR can't even even make a change let alone go in a direction they want because this forum can't accept change without providing good feedback. Like we can't keep the animations and have to sacrifice them for better turning transition? If that's the case then screw 360's, they're not natural. Killer was enjoyable but now we're back to instant killer queues and long survivor queues. 2 steps forward, 5 steps back. This is incredible.

Is not a hot take. PC players realized this years ago.

  • No, Bloodrush is needed for killer. Also if you've been in the chase long enough for Bloodrush to trigger, that's already a win.

  • @shelobster said:

Well the bug where you depip if someone disconnects before the game starts is still active. The UI is a bit better but still worse than the original. Haven't noticed a difference in hitboxes yet. Emblems appear to be fixed though.

Edit: nevermind, still getting black emblems.

Oh and if you switch your character in a game lobby your character will be wearing their default clothes instead of the ones you picked for them.

The default clothes switch was a problem with 4.5.1 and has been there for weeks now. Good to know it still hasn't been fixed.

  • I used to make suggestions like building stuff in the game, either on killer or survivor side, to gain an advantage or bonus. everyone and I do mean everyone jumped on me, even the moderators and called me an idiot.

I've changed it to m1, to m2, to scroll wheel.

Oftentimes against my will, I lose anyways and die on hook.

What need is there for this mechanic? It adds nothing to the game. Remove it soon (tm).

Change the keybinding to.... autohotkey so you aren't straining your fingers.

I still die by mistake sometimes because they changed the UI to always look like you're continuously pressing, so I don't know if the macro is on or not.

  • @savevatznick said:

I'd like to hear why the button-mashing keyboard destroying nightmare of the 2nd hook stage, AKA the struggle phase, is still in the game. What does any player gain from having to mash a bound button thousands of times to just... stay in the game?

If you have sub-par latency, or heck, even if you have a framerate drop, you'll lose the game even though you were diligently exercising your thumb or fingers. Why do we have to keep mashing a button to play the game?

Really. Give me a good reason. Why do we need to buttonmash in Struggle Phase? Is it because we're trying to stay true to our Mario Party roots?

There isn't a good reason. Remove the button mashing of Struggle on Hook phase period. It'll be easy to do, even for boneheads like the BHVR programmers.

"It's to simulate the struggle of life and death."

listen I'm not denying that people used to dc a lot I'm saying that it is still pretty common that someone will go down instantly or load into a map they don't like and dc. I'm not saying they should remove the dc penalty I I just think they need to improve it.

I'll chalk this up to the difference in platform. I'll just assume that DC'ing on PS4 wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was on PC. Because believe me in 2018 on PC you would only play 1 out of 5 games where someone didn't DC. If even that.

The amount of DC'ing you see today isn't even anywhere close to a shadow of what it was back then. Today I will get a survivor to DC maybe once every 10 games. If even that. Suiciding is more common but not even close to 4 games out of 5 of people suiciding over and over.

I'm thinking survivor players on PS4 aren't anywhere as salty as PC survivors.

I was around then I started playing when it came out on console but It is still pretty common for survivors to dc and I was saying is that it doesn't really discourage them from doing so.

    Really no.

The DC's you see today are nothing like how it was back in 2018 or so. The DC penalties work because survivors that DC too much can't play.

If you were really playing back in 2018 then you must have some memory loss because the DC'ing today is nothing like how it was back then. DC penalties totally fixed the issue. Not perfectly but it reduced the DC epidemic to what it is today.

  • You weren't around some 3 years ago when Survivors would DC by the bucketload.

It was more common to play a game with a DC'd survivor than not.

  • Does this mean that the reason Survivor Queues have been so fast, is because we lost the XBone population?

I get it to work maybe 1 out of 4 games.

    Proximity chat is foolish.

    NO

If survivors can have attributes and abilities they HAVE to be interchangeable and earnable

If Laurie or Quentin's abilities are good it makes them pay to win, as they are licensed.

Also, say, Claudette's ability is better than Meg's, then no one would play Meg.

Abilities and Attributes sound amazing but DO NOT MAKE THEM CHARACTER SPECIFIC WHEN YOU CAN NOT EARN EVERY CHARACTER.

Killers are like that. Why not survivors?

Also just because Claudette would have a better ability doesn't mean nobody would play Meg.

Lots of people don't run meta perks. We play the way we want.

  • Yeah people complain so much about killers being "weak" not realizing that all the nerfs they've called for over the years have basically reduced survivor into this wretched lump.

There are still mechanics issues that really need to be overhauled but BHVR is so in love with them like their first prom dance that they refuse to remove or change them, like struggle mechanics and skill check QTE.

  • He's bad compared to how he used to be. Zozzy explains it well.

Old Billy was super easy to use and had flicking. New Billy is a lot clumsier with less visibility and overheats. He's a lot more punishing than old Billy.

Also BBQ is more oppressive than Tinkerer.

Tinkerer only goes off at 70%. BBQ goes off the moment he hooks someone. So he is able to chain instadowns in seconds. That's why BBQ Billy can end matches in 2 minutes. If the survivor team wasn't very good it would be a massacre. Everyone needs to know how to loop and avoid Billy or match ends very quickly.

  • I don't keep track of time. I am guessing my fastest 4K (legit 4K no DCs or suis) is probably around 8 mins.

  • I'm happy not to face more Billies.

BBQ Billy was an extremely oppressive build in Solo Q and matches would be over in 2 minutes. And this was common and it was actually unusual for a match to last longer than 4 minutes.

His nerf made that a lot harder to do so I guess killers still haven't forgotten how strong Billy used to be and just don't want to be reminded of how bad he is now.

  • @swager21 said:

so what happens is all of my 3 solo queue teammates go down in 2 minutes and theres next to nothing i can do about it. i often feel like im better of dcing and taking the 5 minute penalty instead of watching that moron farm bloodpoints. no, but seriously, is there any viable tactic to counter slugging nurses? and no, unbreakable doesnt help cuz ill go down again in the next 20 seconds

The proper play is to hide and make a play for the hatch.

Nurse is one of the weakest killers when it comes to finding the hatch, so you have a much better chance of finding it against her than against other killers. (It's still in her favor though)

  • People still have this antiquated view of Claudette. Claudette mains stopped being Blendettes years ago.

  • @Tricks said:

I found myself a bit rusty on Nurse after a months break so I tried out this trapper strat. I didn't read it anywhere but I'm wondering if it's a thing that other people do because it works really well lol.

All I need are 4 traps to win most matches on Trapper: (Killer shack must have basement)

Perks: Distressing / Unnerving Presence (for the mind-f4&k) and Iron Grip / Agitation to get them half way across map into basement 9 times out of 10

    • Lay out 4 traps in grass around killer shack to start with
    • By this time I've usually got one Survivor down on a hook in the basement who I use to lure more to their inevitable doom
    • Once laid out pick up each trap and place one on either side of the window (one hidden in grass)
    • Place one at either entrance

A lot of preparation time and you'll usually get 1 to 3 gens pop before you get the ball rolling but once setup is complete they practically hook themselves.

    XD

Getting a survivor in the basement is huge for any killer.

If you choose to camp it and the survivors all don't decide to genrush it's easy to win.

If the 3 remaining survivors all decide to genrush (They all must commit to it) chances are that one basement kill is all you're going to get. They will finish the gens before the basement dude dies and then you better hope you had NoEd. If you are Trapper doing this the survivors will finish the gens long before you finish laying out your 4 traps in the basement.

But in most cases survivors will not genrush and will try for a save. And if you camp you will probably get a 4K.

Trapper, Hag and Leatherface are the best at it (and maybe Twins now) but any killer can do it.

  • Skill checks are 100fps for me.

It seems like every post I see where someone even mentions they have a twitch, or has TTV in the name (like me, but not about me) seems to get blasted.

I'm not gonna sit here and flex, but as a streamer who actually has played this game since it came out and has over 6000+ hours across platforms, it seems like the forums almost always are toxic towards streamers.

I never see issues like this on Steam discussions, Reddit threads or even Xbox community discussions, it baffles me how horrible some people are in this forum just because someone has twitch in their name.

It also annoys me when people say "Ah Mr. twitch streamer who knows everything about the game", as if everyone who does stream DBD is a wannabe Otz or something. It seems like a lot of the time I can't even have a conversation with someone because someone else just tries to rip me or another streamer for just wanting to talk about a subject, lmao.

Anyone got a theory to this? Let's actually have a conversation, please xD

Correction. Keys, DS and OoO have yet to be changes. OoO wasen't even confirmed it just a concept

Also worth mentioning that the little list you made is in the span of 3 years or something.

That said. When the above are actually changed I think most grand issues would be fixed.

But people won't stop asking for nerfs. Earlier this week there was a guy complaining that killers could deny his spine chill by moonwalking and that they were op for being able to move faster.

It's a gamer problem not a killer problem

    Correction.

Keys have been slightly nerfed (made them easier to see).

DS was nerfed 2 or was it 3 years ago I forget.

OOO is the only thing that hasn't been nerfed in your list.

So what if the list of nerfs were over a span of 3 years? That doesn't change that the cries for nerf have literally never stopped. That goes for both sides though, not just killers. Survivors are a pretty whiny bunch too. But nowhere as whiny as killers.

  • What he means is that you are playing a busted survivor who dies eaisly and gets targeted and eliminated by the killer before 2 gens are even done. Then it becomes a 3v1 with 4 gens left and most teams can't come back from that.

  • Repressed Alliance - lock the gen they are working on

Empathy/Bond- find those injured survivors and tail them to screw them

OoO - best way to draw the killer to you without your teammates knowing. Use Bond and Empathy to find teammates, then gaze at killer and teabag, then when they start coming look away and start slowly walking away.

I wrote a reply but it deleted for some reason.

As I said in the previous comment, the system itself looks bugged but the reward is still the same. So if you play well, you're rewarded for doing so, if you depip, it's because you played badly.

The problem is with the visualisation of the pip system, not the mechanics of the pip system. It still works exactly the same.

For example, in the clip, the guy gets 3 gold medals, which at purple ranks rewards a pip, which he got, but how it was visualised is bugged. Therefore, proving that it's the visualisation and not the game mechanics.

You can't possibly be this braindead.

    @ttvbardberd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1963961#Comment_1963961

No. This isn't correct. All evidence shows that it's the visualisation of the pip system that's broken, not the actual mechanics. Read the previous reply as I state this in more depth.

It is not a visual bug. You absolutely depip.

You're like one of those flat earthers who is shown a picture of earth from outer space and claim that it just a camera trick.

  • @ttvbardberd said:

I've heard about the people getting a +pip only for it to be a -pip, so on so forth. But this hasn't happened to me in the game at all (As someone who does 12 hour+ streams of this game practically every day, I think I have some leeway here. If I depip, it's mainly because I didn't do well in a match).

To me it mostly sounds like people taking advantage of the clear Desync issues and other bugs that came with the most recent update and trying to find some way of blaming it on the game when it's actually just those players who suck or had a bug issues that game, and have that classic thought process of "Oh it can't be me because I'm good at the game, it must be the games fault I deranked".

If you want to pip up, the common rule is to get about 3 saves, a couple of heals, and work on 2-3 gens, with the main +pip being awarded for chases (Boldness) and escaping the killer.

I usually pip up every game if I do at least all of the above, and don't pip down unless I've done absolutely terrible (Even with the pip "bug").

If it was as big of an issue as everyone thinks, it would have been fixed by now. They fixed the custom games pip bug so quickly, so I feel like this would have been patched by now, it seems almost impossible that they haven't released something like this with the latest patch.

So it's mainly just the babies who play this game getting mad that they lost a pip (Even though you don't need pips to win the game, ranks don't matter in reality).

I think people forget that pips are rewarded to players who PLAY WELL. If you don't pip up, it's almost most certainly a you problem.

Just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Pipping is absolutely broken right now. Some people get it more than others. You are one of the "others."

Some people are salty and pointing all sorts of fingers everywhere for why they suck at this game.

I don't care about that I'm actually happy to be in the green ranks again. Well purple now I went back up because you know, that happens. Was pretty happy in the low ranks because it's more chill down there. Back in purple killers are getting sweaty again.

I personally don't think Self Care is anything past C-tier given the existence of medkits.

Funnily enough, I see a ton of Spine Chill on survivors and have ran it myself, and I can see how it can give a ton of early warning and utility in chase so long as it isn't "abused" by people being immersed. From the Killer side, especially as Ghostface it ends up being a hard counter, but when I play survivor I see a lot of immersed Spine Chill people ending up doing absolutely nothing because the perk lights up every so often.

My point is not that Self Care is any good. My point is that Self Care is meta. When's the last time you saw a game without survivors packing Self Care?

  • Aftercare -- this perk is an MVP but nobody talks about it they're too busy running Dead Hard and Decisive Strike. I have had killers accusing me of being in an SWF because of this perk when I am in Solo Q.

We'll Make it and Iron Will are pretty meta. They are part o the "2nd string" meta, first string is BT/DS/UB/DH. Other perks in the second string are Spine Chill and Self Care.

  • @ILoveDemo said:

I just say that it's not necessary to bring Ruin/Pop/Noed/Sloppy every god damm game! Just Had 5 Killers in a row who bring atleast 3 slowdown perks in one Trial. It's just spamming in this point.

The Devs need to look at when bringing more then one Gen regression perk and make sure that it's NOT Impossible to Play the game when you do.

It's like Freddy as a perk.

Until the devs nerf it I will bring whatever gen regression perks I please.

It's a strong option and I am not a good killer so I'll take what I can get. Or would you prefer I hit you with a slug build? I either do gen regress or that. Third Seal + KO, I love running that build.

  • Is normal. Is it a little worse than usual? Not really.

Probably a bit worse than usual because from what I can tell a lot of survivors quit the game, because survivor queues are now instant. So that means smaller survivor pool for matchmaking, weirder matchmaking results.

Just a theory I'm talking out of my rear end here.

  • Well sure that helps, but if you're trying to get Power Struggle to work Boil Over doesn't do much. Tenacity is a much more useful perk for the build, because you get to crawl over to palette while healing so you can get to 50% heal in time before the killer comes back for you.

  • You'll get it eventually.

And once you do you'll feel bad because you're realize the build is ######### and doesn't work 99% of the time. BTW don't use Boil Over it doesn't add to the build in any meaningful way. Better to use Tenacity instead.

  • I feel like this happens sometimes. Pale Rose there are like 4 hatch spawns at the very edges of the map. You might have missed those points but I trust you didn't.

I've had many instances on this map where I couldn't find the hatch no matter what I did.

  • Hmm thanks for confirming. I should make a bug report.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 30
