The devs don't have a quarter the driver and/or budget to perform what you want.

Unfortunately they've said before they will never do an "Operation Health" type situation.
They are still graphically updating maps, which is probably the best we'll get.
My question though is what happened to the killer visual updates? They did like 4 or 5 of them years ago and then completely stopped.
Operation health was about base coding like hit-scan/lag and an immense balance patch. 6.1.0 was the largest dbd balance patch but falls short of the two week cycle league preforms. As much as we all want, they won't do much and anything problematic will take 6 months which is better than before but damn, how? Their really just shilling doing nothing huh?
2 people who's soul job is to balance dbd should be able to pump out better results then what the devs have currently provided.

Not a hot take. The bots were put in purely for killer benefit.
I know you are immensely survivor sided but lets here it, why are bots so beneficial to the killer? They do gen instantly if out of killer tr which genuinely is more than the average survivor, they dodge certain killer powers far better than you could and they have a couple of base line problems. But that's a lot better than nothing, doesn't matter if killer has pr/pop, you'd be lying to yourself to say that are purely beneficial for killers. Again I know you are super survivor sided but damn, every time you post it gets worse.

I mean, I've also said countless times on here that I don't see camping or tunnelling as much as everyone else apparently does. I keep stats on my games, and seeing something in like 10% of my games = not alot to me. Maybe I am just lucky. Not sure what to tell you.
Recent killrates aren't all that different to the ones we got in 2022. I feel killrates would reflect a 'letting go on hook' epidemic, much like in the way I can agree they probably have for Skull Merchant's killrates.
Not sure what else you want me to say, or why I got called out, but I'm sorry my experience is different to yours?
As far as we know letting go on hook directly affects kill rates, not to say it's as prevalent as I've seen it in my last 20, that would be presumptuous of me.
I didn't expect you to say anything, I @td you because I have repeatedly seen you say you haven't experienced this phenomenon much. That's it. I didn't at you to call you out, but only because I've read your replies and nothing else.

This is why I am mixed on DC penalties - at least if someone DC's you have a bot but there is an incentive to go next on first hook rather than just DC.
The reality is that you cannot make someone play a match they don't want to, that isn't to justify it as people want out for all kinds of stupid reasons including no obvious reason at all.
I don't know what to suggest as I don't see the first hook mechanic going anywhere soon and you cant possibly make everyone want to play every match. Sad but true
"The reality is that you cannot make someone play a match they don't want to, that isn't to justify it as people want out for all kinds of stupid reasons including no obvious reason at all."
This is correct at a base level but not informed. I have played league of legends for 11 years now. You leave the game? First strike in that regard is two weeks suspension. You afk? You get two chances within months or you get bare minimum two weeks. You troll and via stats plus reports get suspended for you guessed it two weeks minimum. You can make someone screw themselves for not playing the game. They always have the choice to leave just like league but it's possible to make repeats suffer for their actions. This notion in the dbd community has gone to far and is flat out wrong.

Probably want to define "valid argument" as someone else has already made a topic about the 4% swing with a whole list of reasons its in the game. This is just a different direction of dislike.
We don't deny that lately people have simply abused the mechanic but there are valid reasons its there such as swinging a match and turning what would be a loss on its head. It makes sure the match doesn't end until the survivors are actually dead and can cause some excitement in matches. There are also perks and offerings that turn this from (what should be) a last ditch effort into a semi-workable way to relieve pressure off the team.
Alright.
"Turning a loss on it's head" sure that can happen but realistically the chance is so low and such an uncommon use for it that it doesn't matter. It can cause excitement in a match but what happens most of the time regarding the 4%? You guessed it, leaving the game. The devs probably have the same idea as you, but the average player doesn't have inkling of your idea.
Perks:
Deli: Would work the same.
Slippery meat: just as outdated as the the mechanic itself.
Can't think of anything else.

Gearhead actually works pretty well at getting rid of stacks. You don't need an entire loadout to do that. As for exhaustion, there are both addons AND perks that apply that.
I know gearhead works, but gearheads really not that good. I know perks and add-ons for exhaustion exist but I don't play huntress and I'm pretty sure none of those perks are very good either.
-
What they did to coldwind was a travesty. I know it was very survivor sided before but now it's just dead.
-
But that's not quite equivalent is it? One objectively bad killer perk that can counter one to four survivors item vs 1 survivor perk that can counter an entire class of killer perks(only a couple of them could even be considered meta at that).
The 4 vs 16 perk thing doesn't make sense a lot of the time because that's not how the game functions, but in this instance it does make sense. It's also why I said exhaustion in my comment because that would be extremely good (likely broken), lightborn is extremely bad.

I just checked the Vod of his stream and it is quite funny how he is like yeah the slowdown is exactly the same as before, the only thing that is harder now is tunneling someone with a hat on, but the buffs she got are really huge ^^
I mean from that standpoint traps are really only gamedelay and chase is the main thing.
That's the point, you can't mindlessly cheese kills via traps and ambush is a far better chase power. The strongest filler tile on Macmillan is an auto lose vs pig now if the pig has hands. That factual statement is huge for pig.

Were you the blight telling me it's not a blight sided map an hour ago? I hope not.
-
Long walls are the most solid common tile.
-
It's definitely predatory but it depends on the person. I have a friend who will give into any fomo nonsense if he semi likes a skin for a character he likes (not just dbd). I on the other hand haven't bought a skin in dbd since I Sheeva and before that ferryman blight, because the skin has to be better than any I have for me to purchase it and that's rare since most cometics in this game are mid at best.
In league I haven't spent money in literally 3+ years.
I spent 10 bucks on the first battlepass when ow2 dropped and haven't bought anything else because there hasn't been a good souj skin or a better doom skin than thunder.
Point is it's person by person, not some predatory thing that applies to each person. In my main group only 1 out of 5 it actually gets to.
-
Not op but one survivor perk shouldn't counter an entire class of killer perks so easily. I think it's pretty fair to think that. As of now you have to run all aura reading, use bad aura reading perks or have add-ons like c21 that can burn through it instantly but by then your already in chase with that survivor.
It was one of my problems with old IW as well, even if the killer ran the equivalent stridor it didn't do anything.
Imagine if killers had a good perk the consistently turned off exhaustion for survivors.

trapper has a chase power now everybody.
just letting everyone know the standards for it are that low.
Nah, that's a reply. That's a conversation. You provided anything just now.
Does a chase power mean something usable in chase or is it just stuff like blight, oni, wesker and billy that prevents W? Is there less than 10 chase powers in the game?
What was the point of you replying to me here? I see none.
Pig can do better at certain tiles compared to just going for m1 when using power, that's a chase power. Preventing W is exclusive to very few killers.
If you force a survivor to a tile you can go for ambush, if they W via the use of your head set you can use the extremely useful ctrl button to uncrouch at a rapid pace and then catch them hopefully before another tile(likely these days). You've just assumed that a survivor wing for a tile means they always get to the next one which is just incorrect.
You still get the same slowdown, you have a better power for chase, you just can't do something requiring 3 cells of the brain. Check those time stamps in my previous comments, reply for real or don't reply to me at all thanks!
I didn't realize you had no intent for conversation.

First: our comment has zero words regarding any of our thoughts on the matter.
Second: your going to need to define chase power as like our comment said, everyone is coming up with new definitions for anything.
Third: can be used in chase doesn't make it a chase power. This is going by our definition.
Fourth: we will click the link only if you promise it's not another damn otz video or something. Fell for that once, not again.
Chase power: has benefit at least at certain tiles or most tiles over just m1ing.
Video: it's not an otz video, it's a scott jund video and I provided time stamps for real examples of pigs power being useful. I wrote my entire comment before that video before viewing it.

gonna say this because it's getting really annoying to keep seeing it...
PIG DOES NOT HAVE A CHASE POWER!
it's a surprise attack that has a few applications during chase. but it's not a chase power. you are not supposed to use it in chase, we just found a way where it works to mindgame some loops, if the survivor doesn't leave the loop running the opposite direction when you start doing it.
you can use it just as much as you can use trapper's power during a chase. does trapper have a chase power now?
is "chase power" such a broad and therefore useless term that it loses any meaning?
Regardless of how strong it is even though it got a significant buff, pig does have a chase power. Your simply wrong. If you can force survivors to play differently then it's a chase power. I've watched my pig main friend play on the ptb several times now, Almost any filler tile it's more beneficial to use power over m1. Even tiles like LT and Short walls are extremely playable using pigs power. The only major generic tile that it doesn't work at is a long wall and just BARELY. Pig can literally triple back moonrush the tile side of a short wall now. The pig is using it wrong or at the wrong place if they don't atleast have the chance to get a hit at most tiles. Pig ambush at a lot of tiles is simply a better version of blights moon rush, straight up. While that blight tech isn't the best it's still viable and pigs is better.
Saying she doesn't have a chase power, idk skill issue. The extra distance she's got if she uses the power at the correct distance means Wing from a tile always results in a hit. She is no a tier killer, not even close but she does have a chase power.

With how people keep coming up with new definitions of anything, we're going to say yeah it's lost meaning.
So that means you think she has 0 chase power? That's just not true.
I saw this vid in my feed before starting to reply here, I decided to watch it before posting my reply. 8:30 is the perfect example of this killer having chase power. There is not a single safe option for that adam on a relatively strong McMillan filler tile with the pallet dropped, It's actually the second past Mac filler. 13:00 is the strong Mac filler tile. BLIGHT can barely play this tile. You can point out all the misplays in this video on the survivors part but if you have any interest in discussion you would realize at least some of the plays on the survivors part are actually the best course and they still lost to ambush.

i might have some bias with my love for head pop builds so take what I say with some salt, but I just don’t like the changes personally. The RBT changes makes them feel weak… ignoreable which is fine! It was like that somewhat before But it kinda sucks because 70% of her add-ons are about the lethality of the RBT, so making it feel like a head cushion to be removed at your pleasure rather than an inconvenience. My main gripe is that now the RBT’s feel kinda stapled on like
”yeah we gotta stealth killer with a dash , let’s just staple this on and call it a day”
it’s just not good anti-loop, I don’t play pig because I love the dash, I play pig because I wanna use a reverse bear trap! I wanna put the survivors in a saw movie. If I wanted anti-loop I’d play a killer with an actual anti loop!
my frustration comes from the fact that removing the lethality of the Bear traps makes it feel like a slap in the face, and it gets worse because more than half the add-ons are to increase the lethality of the bear traps. I just see wasted potential and get upset
the point is, I understand it was somewhat brain dead to play, but I don’t like the idea of bhvr removing an entire playable of a killer
I understand your frustrations but here's the deal.
I know dbd is full of horror fanatics but that is irrelevant to balance in every possible way. The age old "make the killer feel like an unstoppable force" bit is so ignorant and a terrible argument if it can be called that. That example is more extreme but it's the same with pig traps actually killing survivors who are diligently trying to remove the traps.
The add-ons I wouldn't know about and that does suck but it's better long term.
You get a better chase power that actually is impactful in any way, if the pig player knows what they are doing they have way more opportunity to get a hit out of it instead of a survivor just wing away for free.
You still retain the same amount of slow down, you actual chase power gets in increase in power level of about 25% and you can't preform a cheese play style that only worked on survivors who didn't preform well.
If you remove the fact that you like saw, this is only a w for you. It's like if a wesker main complained about a person going back to 0 infection off hook instead of half, your still getting the slowdown the mechanic is intended for you just can't randomly cheese one or two people.
Pig players might like the head pops but survivors like actually getting chased instead of a the killer crouching behind them interrupting them on a box until they die, it's literally the only redeeming quality of survivor besides being able to play with friends.

I understand that may be the case but pressuring boxes is something pigs do removing this feels wrong, and increasing the timer makes the RBT feel powerless and pointless
also pig isn’t in a place to get any nerfs, the fact that pig has to get a big nerf with decent buffs is laughable compared to other killers buffs this patch
It's not big nerfs though? They have buffed her chase power and her overall slow down is the same, no? The only thing nerfed about pig is the aforementioned blind folded play style I mentioned.

Yeah, it goes back and forth, as does the side doing the whining. Surv is trending down atm, but it will change. History is a good indicator of that.
And I had to laugh when I saw complaints about no map changes "for survivors" as if 2/3 of the maps aren't already hella survivor friendly. Most of the rest are neutral and there are like 2 killer sided maps in the game.
There are valid criticisms of how survs have been treated recently, but we have a long, long, long way to go before anyone can cry about map balance from a surv perspective.
I disagree the entire coldwind realm got transferred from highly survivor favored to disgustingly killer sided. Loved that realm before but 2 LT's, 2 5 hour killer tiles and one long wall is a terrible map for survivors.

Yes, "killers".
What A+ tier killer has been directly buffed in the last two years? Huntress in the upcoming patch ig?
Factor in how bad players are and the fact that 1 in 5 survivors are not being efficient and that's what makes survivor "miserable". Not some immense imbalance that you've made up.

No one in this thread is saying that. A very effective playstyle with pig is to put a trap on someone and then pressure them off of boxes so that they get close to a head pop. That isn’t possible anymore, and her “compensation” is a mediocre antiloop dash. At that point, why not just play a good antiloop killer?
The follow someone until head pop bit might as well not be playing dbd, it shouldn't be a thing in the first place. My 6 year old nephew could pull of the same thing.
Your still getting immense slowdown, you just can't CHEESE more than two killers in a semi efficient lobby with ZERO skill on your part.
You can defend a blind folded play style and claim it's stronger but anyone who thinks about health would disagree with you.

this isn't a job and no one has an obligation to play, you can just as easily do the same thing and fast forward to the next match
No one has an obligation to play but there should be punishment for repeated game ruining activity. Your free to leave but you should have to eat your very minuscule penalty at the very least.
You can never force people to play but you can always discourage them from leaving, for the longevity and healthiness of your player base. If you disagree with that I can only be sorry that you don't know any better. It's dbd I realize the average persons game experience is extremely low.

While that is true I think it's fair to mention that it would at least stop hook suicides on impuls. We all know that feeling when something happens that frustrates us and we're like: "I'm done with this stupid game!" But then a second later you calm down and play like normal.
So it might improve the situation at least slightly.
Close to 10k hours in league and people get super tilted/rage/surrender votes in a winnable game. But leaving is a game directly or afking will just get you a two week vacation. I'm saying this because you can't just do nothing in league and even while tilted out of their mind people will still play. They cs/go for objectives and fight.
People like to constantly regurgitate the you can't make people play but when players don't have the option to just give up they tend to contribute, so I would say you are correct even if it's the dbd playerbase.

Absolutely not. I despise how it's affected killer players. There's about a 90% chance a killer will kick a gen over a free hit and if they take the free hit there's a 50% chance they go back to kick anyway.

Who from bhvr thought this addon was a good idea?
I think they just can't let this killer with mid addons, they always have to create an problematic addon for this character
For anyone that thinks this addons isn't stupid hear me out
You have 20% speed from start to finish for free, you don't have to stack like are his speed addons, you just get it, and you can make some ridiculous hits with this because the increase look angle
The dowside does not justify it strentgh, just removing 2 tokens only makes his map control a little bad
And the fact that he only has 3 tokens, he can recharge them faster with no dowside
And they will change something about his basekit, since he is on the roadmap again
Every blight will use this addon until it gets nerfed and my hot take, this addon should have 2 tokens limit and his other iri addon should have 3 tokens at maximun, this is clearly more strong than the other iri addon.
You could have 200+ look angle and it would amount to nothing. Flicks mean nothing other than the "shoulder flick", getting hit by a 180+ means you didn't even think it could happen due to inexperience, you weren't counting rushes or you guessed wrong with little info. You thinking flicks are as good as they are is laughable. The only way to make this add-on good is with addy vial period.
-
Random blight one: There's a black dot above him if you look straight up, it's always been there watching.
-
Yeah midwich is a real bad example. Cold wind maps are probably what you meant to say there.
-
I don't really get it though. You'd have to hit jolt 4 times, pr 2 times and then kick it two more times. That in itself is hard to do on one gen but how would you need more than that?
-
It's so easy to proxy camp, but it's also so easy to split on gens as three. 2-3 out every time you do that vs a proxy camper, survivors just can't cut losses but it also depends on the killer.
3 kills increases your mmr as well.
I'm not defending proxy camping but(I know it's the dbd player base when saying this) ANYONE after 300 hours should be able to recognize the situation especially with how prevalent it is. It's a boring tactic I would never use, but none the less an efficient team will over come it and have the 5th gen done either before the second person is chased if really efficient or done while the second person is in chase.
This shouldn't require a high skill lobby to achieve on the survivor side. Just as it's easy to afk 10m away from the hook it's just as easy to memorize gen spawns and hold m1.
Again, proxy camping is boring and too good for what it is but don't downplay survivors ability to deal with it. I know people suck at the game but average survivors should know the little I've said.
-
Splitting on gens is always better than grouping even with prove. Survivors should ideally have 3 gens about 60-75% done by the time the first down happens.
I would have to assume green toolboxes are at play here because even with hyperfocus I don't think it's possible to complete a gen in 45s solo. The only way they would do gens that fast with hyper focus is to get extremely lucky with skill checks, have a toolbox or both.
-
Not so much toxic as they are egotistical, overconfident and bad at the same time. A very weird combo. Ofc that's not always the case but a generalization. That combo in itself leads to some toxicity and reminds me of being silver in league a decade ago.
The key to getting better at a game is self awareness and the want to learn which is something people lack in this game and a nicer way to put what I said earlier.

There's enough killers to keep things decently fresh if you're not COMPLETELY against playing killer. I like to jump around alot, so I'll play a game or 2 as one killer, then swap to something else. I feel MOST ppl have several characters that they more or less completely disregard after lvling them up for their perks.
After playing blight no other killer is fun. I've tried to pick up my old mains and even plague, but nullifying the boredom of holding w after someone is unique to blight. Blight also has the highest skill cap by such an absurd margin it would take someone unhuman to achieve it.
But then I go out of my way to play against the best survivors possible only to only get 2 out of 4 that are really good and then what? No increase in anything visible?
There's no progression, I sit on blood points because prestige means absolutely nothing. There's no draw to getting better and no reward for getting better.
My macro was better than 99% of players at 350 hours and I've only gone down since then because it that would mean gg every game without a chance for survivors. Now I play like a mechanically adept bot and I'm put in a lose lose situation.
I am a one trick until I get bored or find something more entertaining in every video game I play, 70% of killers are very uninteractive for both sides. On the flip side I already found my interactive killer main and playing other things would just be boring.
-

I would say this person is digging too deep. But it is true, if you watch someone like tru3ta1ent (yes i know he complains a lot) there really is something to the fact that the survivors he plays against are usually really good. Then when you watch someone like scott jund, he can have the first chase go poorly, but doesn't lose 3 gens somehow.
You see what i'm getting at? Its not some deep conspiracy, but something is there with matchmaking.
I'd imagine it's time of day. I don't know when true plays and I don't care.
Consistently strong squads only come out via matchmaking when playing after 12:00AM for me on NA.
That's held true for me since 6.1.0 and any day of the week. I play this game in a state of washed and under the influence and if I didn't play after 12:00 my auto pilot self would end the game at 3 gens+. Even then I watch 2 amazing survivors get paired with ayrun wannabies and throw the game via macro.
If I get a single good squad before 12 it's by pure luck and the rng of hitting the queue up button.
What you said is a complete conspiracy. There is no favoritism of this poorly designed matchmaking.
If I had to give anything to true it's his tenacity in his stances, my first experience was him going completely off the rails while playing hard meta nurse on swamp pre 6.1.0. He played just the worst and still managed to make it about survivors even though they were far stronger then. Doesn't matter about their power level back then though, he couldn't have played worse with his experience if he tried.

Sadako leaves either immense counter play because her chase is bad or 0 counter play because of resource depletion and her two passives.
She's from the movie cool but I doubt she'll ever be even a mediocre design. She was uncommon when strong because she was boring just like twins and hag in the past.

the survivor you chased halfway across the map brought you to hook or they tried to save a second after you hooked the person, what you do?If you've been chasing the survivor that long, how is it that you can't force a trade?
edit: also ds also is an anti tunnel perk :)He didn't say that OTR was the only anti-tunnel perk, only that it was the one that met the conditions you specified (where a survivor can body block for others).
I go away from hook.
I see scratch marks.
I follow them.
In the distance I see a survivor unhooking another.
That's one example, it doesn't happen often but you would be lying to yourself to say there is no situation in which a killer can be forced to eat a bt hit even though they had 0 intention of tunneling.
Any m1 killer could start trailing scratch marks half way across the map easily and only arrive at the hook for an m1 after the unhook animation is over.
seriously, have you and ampersand never been in that scenario once.
I'm all about running bbq and going for map pressure but it's not such an impossible situation.
Also ds was a body block perk before it's nerf and by extension still is. Survivor forces down with ds, survivor has UB. Now what? Your eating something there, pick one.
Let me reiterate body blocks happen rarely to me because I am such an immensely nice killer, but they do happen and I will exempt my tunneling rule just for those people so avidly trying to take a hit when I am keeping tension alive by ignoring them.
A survivor body blocking with bt knows the repercussions and for forcing it or they are clueless. I'll take hit's on survivor when It suits me, but I know what I am doing. Complaining about it would only make me a joke.

I already did.
First of all, your 'anti tunnel perks' that fall into this category is exactly and only one perk, and it's OTR.
Second of all, if you want to avoid anti tunnel perks (OTR) used for body blocking, try pressuring the rest of the map. Since you specifically called it out in your op, BT is absolutely hard countered by not going immediately back to hook the instant you get the notification. So is OTR. Interesting that that's entirely within the killer's ability to avoid.
This is why I said specifically in my first post, if you're getting hit with borrowed time in this case, you really should be asking yourself what the other survivors are doing (it's gens). In that case, you're completely ignoring two people on gens to make sure you are back at hook instantly (within 10 seconds) and complaining that you didn't count to ten first. That's 100% on you.
And if all the gens are done, guess what, OTR is disabled! So in that case you're actually struggling with counting to ten. Literally.
If people actually understood map pressure, there would be far, far less (nearly zero) instances of active body blocking.
Are you salty about something?
You've never followed the first scratch marks you saw after a hook to end up right back at the hook? You've never check literally 3 gens and went back to a near stage 2 because that's the only place to be because anywhere else has been a waste of time.
You are just being disingenuous or don't play killer, it's a hard call. I rarely end up in this scenarios but saying they don't happen when playing 120% fair is just laughable on all accounts.
I don't tunnel, I don't camp, I don't kick gens and 95% of the time survivors will be healed before I ever lay eyes on them. But the situation does arise and survivors waste their base kit bt illegally.
I understand map pressure, but sometimes survivors are not going to be found and I don't play killer to essentially afk. Anyway try again.

Kicking gens? Couldn't be me.

I see, but still, it would be good to have a special place to talk about it, specially because I'm seeing a lot of people not very happy about the addon update.
Nah iri tag isn't worth running and c33 got heavily nerfed.
