I don't think he needs a whole new rework like the Doctor. All I want for Trapper is to have his Stitched Bag as base kit and to make Bloody Coil to act as it currently does (which is injure a healthy Survivor) and to down an injured Survivor that disarms it.
I think Trapper needs to just have a loadout of 8 traps or so, and he can always just put them down wherever. When they get tripped or disarmed, he gets them back, but never has to pick them up.

Okay, you asked me lots of questions so let me dissect your post to give you some intel on my part:
"[...]you eventually reach a point where everyone is essentially on even footing, in that regard."
Although I get what you are trying to say, but with items and perks that literally provides easier access to certain objectives, there is never going to be even footings, ever. That said, unless the entire team of survivors have the same quality of items as each other + the killer and so on, maybe. But using my logic and theory? It's VERY VERY VERY unlikely that smth like that will be remotely close to even. Especially in a game like DBD.
"How much time do you have in the game?"
148 hours/Rank 4 Surv/Rank 8~9 Killer
"Is there anything specific that you're having a hard time with?"
Nothing really, but the game becomes stale once people start using strong/somewhat OP items/perks/addons.
I have to run the same quality of items/builds in order to counter them and that's no fun at all.
"What role are you playing, and what perks are you using?"
I enjoy playing both but survs mostly and my perks depend on what I feel like doing. I try to stay away from the whole "this is meta" stuff cuz it ruins the fun as it already is.
Damn, making me feel inadequate with those ranks after that playtime!
How do you prefer to play as survivor, in terms of your focus and your perks? What specific things frustrate you, other than just red items and offerings?

-
When did they say they would do this? I've always gotten a firm "no" when I've brought this up in the past. They even answered a question about it that I asked in one of their video Q&As a while back.
-
OP, I know you are posting this in frustration, but what you're describing is not as grim as you think it is. Game sense and map knowledge have a lot more to do with your prospects than your build. Your build can definitely give you advantages, but you eventually reach a point where everyone is essentially on even footing, in that regard.
How much time do you have in the game? Is there anything specific that you're having a hard time with? What role are you playing, and what perks are you using? We can probably help you have a better time.

When a killer with franklins makes you drop an item, and another survivor picks it up?
Just curious.
Shoot the hostage in the leg!

Ruin needed the rework, and I believe the game is better off for it.
Hex perks are meant to carry an element of risk. Anecdotally, I've found that Retribution and Haunted Ground can be BIG pains for survivors, especially in an all-Hex build. And Devour Hope is like, a top 5 most hated perk for me these days.

hook suicides should not be part of the disconnect penalty.one it part of the game and 2 people would stop playing after being penalty by them hook suiciding and game will die.think the que time are long now they get long if that happens.
I don't want to bog down this thread with another discussion of how I feel about the struggle mechanic; I will just say that I think it needs to be reworked. There's another big thread on all of it on or near the front page currently.
My main point for the OP, though, is that you shouldn't commit to a match if you don't think you can spare the 15 minutes for it. The leaver penalty exists to punish you for sandbagging your team and not participating in the match you agreed to.
-
I dunno if I have a favorite. As a Claudette player, I like being able to leverage Coldwind Farm and Yamaoka Estate for stealth chase escapes (and as insane as this sounds, Haddonfield has also really grown on me). As killer, I broadly prefer wide-open maps.
Least favorite on both roles is The Game. It's just horrible. Too easy to get lost, nothing is really signposted that well, and the claustrophobic double deck throws your whole sense of proximity out the window. I'm a red rank survivor who has been playing this game since Nov. 2018, and I still get lost and can't find generators in this awful place.
-
Yeah, this was a really poorly thought-out challenge. Good luck.
"Hiding" counts as being near the killer without being in a chase.

Hey, Friday the 13th! I was part of the team that essentially invented the meta for that game. Here are a bunch of guides that were the result of my basically reverse-engineering every opaque mechanic in F13. They're pretty out of date, but they might still be helpful.
For what it's worth, ongoing support for that game stalled out, so it's not terribly active. It's why I dropped it for DBD.

I have 3. Just look for The Hillbilly/Clown/Legion Problem.
Hillbilly is just full of hate messages and arguments about high-level play, which is the exact opposite of what I was arguing. I'd suggest NOT commenting on that one and re-igniting all of that. Clown people agree on, and Legion was ignored.
Comment on the Hillbilly one, got it.

-
You'd think, right?
-
You're acting like there should no leaver penalty. This is not a healthy perspective. If anything, I believe hook suicides should count as a disconnect and increment your penalty.
It's working as intended, and the time penalties decay as others have said. Just make sure you have time to play a match before you queue up! Matches take maybe 15 minutes at most unless something's gone really awry, which is not an unreasonable block of time.

It's more about my particular views on one very specific killer that a majority of people don't like and how I criticize the community for their, quite frankly outdated, views on certain apsects on the game. If anything I criticize the community more than the game itself.
I'm sure that I haven't made friends amongst the devs either by admitting that I'm going to make a series pointing out fundamental flaws for each killer and how they'll never be fixed because of core designs. Although the 2nd and 3rd episodes have been largely ignored, so I feel like they've gone over fairly well.
Got a link?
-
A lot of charms also have a lot of awful clipping on Claudette's Glorious Violet Jacket, and I'm sure other cosmetics as well. I wish they would fix this.
-
Agreed. Any "intensity" dies off after like hour 2. After that, it's just annoying, unnecessary, and gives survivors a free unpenalized disconnect.

In some ways I'm kinda glad that I don't have the Trusted tag, then. While I try to remain as unbiased as possible, I can be described as something of a controversial figure on these forums. Depending on who you ask.
Criticism of the game is not, by definition, "biased," if that's what you're getting at. I make all kinds of noise about the things that need to be improved, and if it's anything, it's because I'm biased in favor of the game doing well and appealing to a broader audience. You shouldn't need to be a milquetoast "go along to get along" cheerleader to earn a Trusted tag.
(Note: I feel like I need to edit this to clarify that I don't mean that as an insult to any Trusted members. I'm just skeptical of the idea that Behaviour would ever give that tag to anyone that they see as being overly bullish with their opinions and feedback, even if they aren't also mean-spirited trolls.)
-
I dunno if they would be able to work out a cross-console deal for something like this.
-
You used to be cool. :(
-
Self-Care works at half the speed of another survivor healing you. It is way more efficient to get healed by one or more fellow survivors, because you can get it done in a matter of seconds.
Time to repair a generator benefits from having multiple people work on it simultaneously, but that is subject to diminishing returns.
- 1 Survivor = 80 sec.
- 2 Survivors = 47 sec.
- 3 Survivors = 38 sec.
- 4 Survivors = 36 sec.

I thought I was going to quit loads of times and just can't ever seem to. Trying to play killer with the matchmaking how it is really got to me at first. But I just switched to survivor to try and learn from both angles. The only reason I left the first time was because my PC broke. Then I kept seeing forum posts in my Google news thing and it made me really want to play. Then I remembered I got it on PS4 when it was free and played a bit on there.
So like January or February I started again and really wanted to dedicate myself to learning stuff and getting better. Played almost every day since then. Got all the chapters a little bit at a time. Just bought my last two like yesterday (Stranger Things and Ash I saved for last). The grind is kinda killing me,but thanks to the forums I know what to go for first. Like obviously BBQ and Chilli will help.
I had a P2 Claudette and a P2 Huntress to work with. Now I got a 50 Feng and 50 Ghostface. The rest I all have to 15 and Bill and Kate to 30. So I got decently far in a little bit of time. Devotion 1 level 39. PS4 doesn't tell hours but can probably estimate from that. I'm here to stay. Thank you for that.
Awesome. 😃
Hopefully you'll get to fuse it all together into one account when all the cross-play/cross-progression stuff gets added!
-
Cannibal and Wraith need full Freddy-caliber reworks/remakes.
Trapper needs serious buffs, which should include not ever needing to pick up his power off the floor.
Pig and Legion need reworks in the vein of Doctor, because they are frustrating to play against thanks to bad mechanics (Pig's traps that encourage tunneling, and Legion's constant bleeds that are just teeth-gnashing to deal with).
Plague needs some sort of counterplay rework that doesn't completely discourage survivors from ever healing, while also making Plague not entirely reliant on players healing to use her power.

We'll end the whole conversation about survivors being a team. At this point it's going nowhere, we've both said what we'll say.
But how the hell do you not know Messi? He's like the biggest sports star in the world. Probably the best soccer player of all time.
At the risk of continuing to derail my own thread (which has pretty much run its course anyway): PFFFFFT nobody's bigger than Roger Federer.
-
My take that I have posted previously, though it bears repeating because it is relevant:
I think that, of all the character build options available in the game, keys and moris are the most pernicious because they completely move the goalposts of the game, in ways that other build options do not.
A mori means that at least one survivor "life" is flat-out removed from the game. In my (anecdotal) experience, a mori usually winds up being a red one, and that removes four survivor "lives," reducing them by a full third (from 12 total to 8 total). This would be the rough numerical equivalent of telling the killer that survivors only have to repair 3 generators + the exit gate (if we're counting the exit gate as a sixth objective).
A red or purple key means that at least one survivor has a decent chance of finding the hatch early and orchestrating an escape that the killer cannot reliably play around. I believe that the key is less of a problem than the mori, since it can potentially be lost and it is subject to some measure of luck, but it also (mostly) rewards poor play, because a key-based exit is usually most likely only after multiple survivors die.
Dead by Daylight is -- by nature of its 146 perks, 19 killer powers, 18+ survivor items, 71 offerings, and god knows how many add-ons, all multiplied by 5 players, plus 34 maps -- a giant roulette wheel in every individual match. There's a lot of randomness to it, and some of the options are going to be harder to deal with than others, depending on the combinations that you get. But there is nothing that circumvents the game's internal rules and objectives as directly as these do.
Moris could be fixed overnight by limiting their use to only dead-on-hook survivors; it would essentially save the killer the trouble of hooking them a third time. I dunno how you fix keys, though.

I always stay until the end, and struggle until the meter depletes. Sometimes, you can turn even a bad game around.

I would argue that if it is your instinct to do this because of bad teammates, it is a look-in-the-mirror moment.

Guys, I don't think you're recognizing the genius of this Ace Attorney chapter idea.
Imagine having a perk called "OBJECTION!" that activates when you get a safe unhook, and allows you to use the secondary action button to stun the killer once. 😄

On one hand: Yeah, people with spotty Internet are gonna have a bad time with this game. Have a decent connection, don't overtax your Internet while you're playing, and play on a hardwired connection instead of Wi-Fi (this is general advice for all games -- I recommend investing in a couple of reasonably priced powerline adapters if your gaming device is not near your router).
On the other hand: "Have you tried not being poor" is not great advice.
-
TL;DR Willful misunderstanding of the point @Huff has repeatedly made about survivors not being a proper team, beyond having a loosely shared objective, and the distinction between this and referring to them as a "team" as convenient shorthand. He is getting frustrated at the insistent pushback. I advise just dropping it because people like that are not worth your energy or anger, @Huff

I think something glitched out. I was freaking out hard. There are some helpful people here, with something to say. The forums got me back into the game after a super long break. Like over a year. Thanks for breaking it down. I know it wasn't the smartest question.
Nah, that's not a dumb question at all.
And, welcome to the forums. There's a lot of negativity here, but there are also some nice people (much like any forum for any video game, really). I complain a lot about things that are wrong with the game, and try to make well-reasoned and justified criticisms and recommendations for things that I think should be fixed or changed. But I also stick around cuz I really like DBD despite some of its issues. Hopefully you do, too!

Hahahha, imagine a game in 2020 taking an official stance that resolution, FOV, and/or anti-aliasing are cheating. 🤣

The issue is, I have Kindred. I run it religiously. There's no reason for everyone to be running for the save. Even moreso, if I get hooked and everyone is urban evading in a corner, again, I dip. Get on a gen, and you get the privilege of having me as a team mate; and believe me, most survivor teams need someone like me on their team to survive. I can actually run killers.
This doesn't really counterargue my point, in addition to being very self-aggrandizing.

No, its not a "loophole", it's a "valid strategy", as Killers like to say. :) Same reason Devs don't allow survivors to struggle once everyone is on 2nd phase hook anymore. According to them, its better for the survivors to move on to the next match - they make more pts that way. Same principle. If you're match is doomed to fail, might as well nip the inevitable in the bud and move on to a more profitable match. 😉
One thing let you leave the game, with a penalty. The other lets you accomplish the exact same thing with roughly the same level of efficiency, but without a penalty. A loophole is defined as "a means of escape or evasion; a means or opportunity of evading a rule, law, etc." That's literally what this is.

In many games you can change how your monitor displays the game. For example using a 4:3 aspect ratio on a 16:10 monitor. In many games this has no issue however DBD renders this differently and gives players an advantage by increasing their vertical FOV. You can see over structures using this, making mindgaming incredibly difficult (although flashlight saves also become harder), and killers can see survivors who attempt to window tech them.
Oh god, lol. This is only an issue because DBD's settings menu doesn't have normal options like a normal game.

You can't report people who die on hook for unsportsmanlike behavior. You can't force them to stay in game.
If I get hooked and see that at least one of my team mates isn't on a gen, I dip. Immediately.
That's a really extreme position to take. Not everyone is playing at peak 100% efficiency at all times. This isn't the Olympics.

If you haven't dusted your PC in two years, I guarantee that this is your issue, and you will DEFINITELY see a lot of dust come out of your fans when you finally clean them out.
