I wonder if they do this to not get as much backlash over nerfs? Definitely a disappointing nerf but it feels fair imo
Oni’s power didn’t need a nerf. If this is true, Oni will get his power a lot less frequently.

I thought the same thing when I read the patch notes.
Sure, you could read it as "Survivors were dropping twice as many orbs as they should have been when doing actions." But this doesn't really hold water because if it was twice as many as more than not doing an action it would have been obvious. When my fiance was playing Oni for challenges the number of Orbs looked normal. There were no obvious collections of "twice" the amount of orbs that should be dropped when survivors were doing actions anywhere. Also, no one has said anything before the "issue" fix as far as I've seen.
So the only way to read this is that "Survivors were never intended to drop more orbs when doing an action, like vaulting so we fixed it." Which brings to question:
- Wasn't this an intended feature?
- Why did it take until now to fix this "issue"?
I thought about that too, but I haven’t noticed 4 blood orbs when survivors do actions either. As well as that, it seems I wasn’t the only one who thought this was an intended feature.

They sure did. The gist of what they said was they were doing it to force you to manage the power more. I really doubt this'll ######### him up, but go off I guess.
It doesn’t matter whether or not it ######### up billy, it still adds an unnecessary and annoying cooldown. If Billy is in a good spot right now, why add a cooldown that either does nothing but be annoying or hurts him on loops?

Well, from what I've read, it doesn't sound as bad as the Nurse's nerfs. But we'll have to try it out before anyone can be sure. The Devs said that they were happy with him, so I really doubt it'll be that bad. But hey, I've been proven wrong before.
They said in the update that they are happy with where he currently stands, and then talk about nerfing his base kit.
-
@ABannedCat said:
The problem with Billy's rework is that they are decreasing the skill-CEILING, instead of the skill-FLOOR. For example, Nurse's rework and Spirit's add-on pass and collision removal on other hand increased the skilll-floor (making them harder to pickup), while leaving the skillceiling mostly untouched. Those are instances of healthy nerfs.
Spirit's add-on rework decreased the skill ceiling, and rightfully so. She's not harder to pickup than before, but she also can't grab everyone from gens and rush around the map as fast as billy.
Nurse's rework raised the skill-floor and lowered the skill-ceiling; the cooldown gives a lot of punishment for missing blinks, making her harder to pick up, as well as decreasing the map pressure she used to have, directly nerfing her. It was an extremely poor rework, especially since they should've done the add-on pass and then assessed whether or not she needed a nerf to her power in that state.

I think a good change to the perk would be to have the opposite happen: You start off with the max amount of speed increase you can have, and every generator done decreases the speed until it deactivates. It rewards the killer for keeping survivors off of the generators, but also rewards survivors for doing gens by weakening the Killer's power.
I've had this idea for awhile @Peanits , and firmly believe it would be quite an interesting and balanced perk.

Being a spirit main doesn't mean you are awarded insight for free. If you play her long enough you should understand how mind games work with her and how to counter them. There are plenty of moments where you can reliably assume she's phasing, other moments you can rely that she might not be.
Also, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but a survivor can fake vault just the same as the spirit can fake phasing. "It's all just a guessing game, there's no indication whether the survivor is going to vault, or fake vault. They both run at the pallet in the same way."
The difference is that you can stand still and watch what a survivor will do, while the survivor has NO idea whether or not you're phasing. I stand by the fact that Spirit needs to give some sort of information other than an occasional shimmer (or clicking at the husk over and over so you know whether or not she's phasing).

Or it fit the obsession theme when they designed it. They simply didn't realize how powerful it could be. I imagine it hasn't been reworked because they can't figure out a good way to do it. Or there's a license issue preventing them from doing it.
They did rework it. If you need a refresher, it used to work on killers in stealth too and was absolutely even more broken than it is now.
However, just the concept of this perk is too powerful to be in the game and not be abused by people trolling or telling their friends what the killer is doing at all times. Most killers do (and should) tunnel and proxy camp OoO users, and do it without remorse. It can be impossible to win the game as long as they're around.
Also, it shows it's true overpowered when on the new map; You can just run circles in the school, so the killer can literally never catch you unless they're Nurse.

If you're far away, you hear the phasing noise.
If you're close, you don't hear anything at all.
If you see her, she shimmers white which is hard to miss.
If she's phasing, you can still hear her footsteps and bushes move.
There are a lot of ways to tell that she is phasing, a lot of people just don't pay attention.
As far as I know, the shimmer is a graphical bug. As well as that, it doesn't work on some Spirit cosmetics. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.

I do and can agree with you, in fact i have to agree with Zoomies. Taking the game hostage is clearly defined as "only being able to leave the match by DCing" It's not up for interpretation, if you've been slugged you have to wait 4 minutes and then the game will end. You are basically making up what the rule is to fit your own narrative and filing false reports against someone not doing anything wrong all the while breaking the rules yourself based on your own self beneficial interpretation of the rules. I have found a post from a Dev on this sitewho has confirmed that only slugging and not using the hooks isn't very nice but it isn't bannable.
You are an entitled survivor who is making up his own rules which doesn't match the rules that the devs have set and are creating false reports against people breaking your made up rules.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZOI0SYB43X2U/screenshot-20200705-204018-chrome.jpg
Lmao, okay. I’m an entitled survivor main, even though I hardly ever play survivor at all.
- It’s not false reporting for taking the game hostage, like you said, and for griefing by slugging all the survivors in the game and letting them bleed out. Those types of killers give the whole killer part of the community a bad reputation.
- I never reported anyone. Even if I did, it’s not a false report.
- Assuming that I’m bending the rules for my own self-benefit is not only the most stupid thing you could fo, but also completely false. Once again, I hardly ever play survivor.
- If the devs want to interpret their rules in a different way, that’s not my problem. All I know is that, according to the rules, messing with other player’s experienced is against the EULA. The devs can bend it all they like, but it’s literally a violation of the Code of Conduct unless they change the wording of it.

Here we go; the same bullshit Survivors always spew 'If you don't play to MY RULES, I'll make up some thin excuse that allows me to pretend YOU are the villain, and then I can break the rules by DCing! But YOU'RE the bad guy because I said so!'
If you’re trying to imply I’m an entitled survivor main for having common sense and understanding that no one wants to sit through their whole team bleeding out for 5 minutes, you have your own issues. I mainly play Killer (the killer being Nurse).

I have not heard of that happening before, would you be able to share a link to it.
Hold up... I can’t find threads about it. Either it’s too old, or it was a banwave that included HACKERS that downed and let everyone bleed out. My bad.
The point is, the type of playstyle is certainly reportable and beyond a doubt a warrant to DC. Even if someone doesn’t consider it holding the game hostage, it is a type of griefing if you have the choice not to do so imo.
23 votes and 80 comments so far on Reddit0 votes and 16 comments so far on Reddit0 votes and 7 comments so far on RedditIt got extremely bad back before hooks didn’t respawn and everyone had sabo, got a little when they let hooks respawn, and stopped by the time the dedicated servers got released I believe.

So i read your previous post as you suggested and what i took away from it is despite the fact that slugging is allowed, because you find that type of play tactic boring you should be allowed to report them and break the DC rule. At least that what i'm taking away from it, if i found people using DS unfun & boring would i be allowed to report everyone who uses it for ruining my enjoyment?
I believe you’re either going out of your way to try and find something to get people mad about, or you’re being ignorant.
A killer that doesn’t hook, but slugs everyone AND LETS THEM BLEED OUT instead of hooking them is purposely making the game a horrible experience for survivors. They’re using the slugging mechanic in a way that it was not meant to be used, and there was a ban wave in the distant past when people got tired of the game and constantly did it every game. If you need even MORE context, imagine 4 survivors sitting on the ground and being forced to do nothing until they all bleed out and the game ends.
Abusing mechanics given to you to make other people miserable while playing the game WITH THE INTENT TO DO EXACTLY THAT is a violation.

Exactly you'll bleed out & leave the game, all you're doing is setting a double standard. "I'm going to report this person for doing nothing wrong and then i'm going to DC which isn't allowed because i should be allowed to break the rules".
Going out of your way to slug everyone and forced them to boringly wait until they bleed out every game is against the rules. Read my previous comment about the EULA rules if you don’t think so.
Killers who do stuff like that are also the ones that inflate the bad rep killers get.

Thats not holding the game hostage or a reason to DC.
Going out of your way to make sure everyone is laying on the ground and bleeding out? I would DC and report for that. Even if it isn’t technically ‘holding the game hostage’ in the dev’s standards, it’s ruining the experience for others as well as holding the game hostage. Survivors can’t do anything but crawl around until they bleed out.

You’re actively denying points or pips because you don’t like that they won. Either everyone will start to be put on hooks, or someone has unbreakable and will restart the team. The only reason you should DC is if the killer is holding the game hostage by slugging and not picking anyone up.

well yeah you're funny if you think I care about the other 3 survivors having fun when the killers being boring. I literally don't even mind tunneling as much even though it's annoying but you do realize that playing against certain addons and offerings is straight up not fun, but of course that's fair because the killers having fun in that situation :)
The difference is that, like I argued before DC penalties were introduced, you might not be having fun but you are actively ruining other player’s fun in the game, which is directly against the EULA:
”While participating in this game, you also agree to comply with certain rules of conduct that govern your use of the game (“Rules of Conduct”). For example, you may not...
- Interfere with the ability of others to enjoy playing [Dead by Daylight]...
Your online conduct should be guided by common sense and respect for others who access and use the game” (Behaviour 6). Therefore, you are committing an EXTREMELY bannable act by disconnecting against anyone or with anyone you deem unworthy of your presence/patience, and it would be in the best interest of the community to have these types of people removed from the game (Mass DCers).

The problem is that people like you will go on the PTB, play one or two games with the mentality that billy sucks, and then go on the PTB balance feedback to say that billy sucks, which is not helpful feedback in any sort of way.
And then, the devs feel like EVERYONE overreacted because of how much opposition people will be going into the PTB with and release the change anyway.
If they made PTBs longer and added changes to new content IN THE PTB until people agree with the changes, we wouldn’t have nearly as many problems or lack of confidence in the devs to listen to feedback; Nurse would be in a better place, changes wouldn’t have to be forced in the real game, and people would be happier with updates because they know they’ve been throughly adjusted before they made it into the live servers.

@Todgeweiht said:
Is it that time of the year again where the forum becomes a massive killer circlejerk?
It’s the fact that literally no one has asked for a nerf to Billy in months compared to other things that need to be looked at, like an operation health-style update. Instead of fixing moris/keys, fixing Nurse, or fixing bugs, they’ve put their resources into an unwanted change on a killer regarded as skillful. It seems clear to many people that understand Billy, not just people who play killer, that even the concept of this change nerfs the amount of skill on billy and encourages cheap plays such as backreving.
On top of that, people that love playing Billy are, understandably, panicing because it feels like the devs never listen to feedback when it comes to any rework done.

I'll be honest, the hours argument has always seemed ridiculous to me, but claiming you can't call yourself a good nurse without playing in tournaments...that's a new level of "extremely high bar that's completely irrelevant." That's not even saying you need to be in red ranks to have an opinion (which I also disagree with)...that's saying 99.9% of the playerbase isn't allowed to have an opinion because they don't play in unofficial tournaments.
Mhm. As well as that, hours have never determined how good someone is (to an extent), or how long they've been playing the game for that matter. Someone could have playing DBD since 2016, have legacy, be rank 1, and have less than 1000 hours in the game.
I took massive breaks because of the past game-breaking updates, such as the lunar event. It doesn't mean that I'm any less skilled, and neither does not being the .01% that participate in tournaments.
-
Anyways, ignoring the person actively trying to prove that I'm not a good Nurse player by fact of tournaments and hours...
I'm surprised that devs have responded to many of the threads about Hillbilly, but refuse to respond to ANY of the threads regarding Nurse. In fact, from what I've seen, when someone mentions Nurse they either bail out or dodge around it. C'mon... Really? Do you have to be that way, ignoring anyone who DARES mention Nurse when she is obviously in a broken state atm? It seems hypocritical to me, considering that they'll add something similar to her cooldown without anyone asking and then ignore anyone pointing out the similarities.

I'm just saying that you think you're top tier because if you've never seen actual good nurse players( which are extremely rarely being seen in pubs), you're thinking of yourself higher than you actually are, you're mid tier at best and so am I even if we both have hundreds of hours of nurse experience alone.
Um... I've been playing since before the Nurse released, of course I've seen actual good Nurse players. I've played against them, and watched tournaments with them (as she was the only killer people would play). As well as that, I already mentioned the official tournament, which I watched. You saying I'm mid-tier because you watched two matches of me and assuming the amount of hours that I have in Nurse is extremely dumb, and implying I can't be anywhere near the amount of skill a good Nurse player has unless I participate in tournaments is bogus.

How do you bypass the huge deadzone in new map by get good?
There are lots of bugs like this which makes her literally unplayable
Not unplayable, but barely if survivors know to go in broken areas of the map and loop around them.
My favorite bugs are:
- Not being able to blink a second time
- Soft-locking the game by getting a survivor stuck on the hook
- Teleporting back to where I blinked from
- Random whiffs when I should've gotten a hit
- Random hits when I should've gotten a whiff

I mean, you consider yourself a top tier nurse just because you stomp casual players (keep in mind that the average DBD player is reaally ######### bad) with prob under 1000 hours of game/ killer experience. I also don't use addons, never derank and play against high SWF and have a 95%+ win rate but as soon as I'd go against my ex comp team, i'd get stomped since that's where the actual good players are and that's where you find out your actual skills.
And what percentage of players play in unofficial tournaments, have the spare time to do so, want to compete against coordinated teams in a game where skilled coordinated teams have an extreme amount of power, or simply wants to? Just because I don't compete against people in tournaments does NOT in ANY WAY make me worse than someone who does, nor does it mean that I overestimate my skill because I don't dedicate my time in this game to playing tournaments that I don't wish to compete in. Most people I play against have more than 1000 hours in this game, and I know that because I like to see during the endgame tally screen.
You're entitled to your own opinion, but stop pushing the idea of only being top-tier if you compete in tournaments onto me just because I believe I am top-tier. As well as that, stop trying to get the thread off-topic just because you think so.

I never said your opinion is irrelevant or you can't have concerns about her, I said what I said because I highly doubt that you're a top tier nurse as you think. I watched through a few matches of a VOD and all I've seen is you stomp pub bots and that's just it... you can't consider yourself that when you've never even played against competitive players in a private environment..
Lmao, sure. I can't consider myself a top-tier Nurse player because I don't like to participate in unofficial tournaments, let alone the official one (that was a total disaster). You must be extremely entitled to think that, and I have NEVER called someone entitled unironically before on this forum.
- I don't use add-ons at all.

I highly doubt you're a top tier nurse player. I am not one even after 3600 hours in the game and ~400hrs in nurse alone. The only top tier nurse players I've ever seen were people with 2000-3000 hrs in nurse alone and only met them in tournaments/ competitive scrims, never in public matches.

Besides, just because someone isn't a top-tier player doesn't mean that they don't have a say and cannot have valid concerns about the state of Nurse.

Nurse is a very strong Killer, but she takes a lot of consistent practice to be good.
Either you main Nurse or you don’t bother playing her at all because you won’t maintain the muscle memory to play her
Muscle memory doesn't go 'poof', it stays for a VERY long time depending on how many times the neuron connections associated with the action have been stimulated (used). The more they're used, the longer they last and the stronger they are. The fact is that, at the moment, she is extremely buggy and boring for new players because of the insane cooldowns you have to face.
Also, not because I think you're questioning it but because others are implying it, I'm a top tier Nurse player. If you need proof of that, I can give.

It doesn’t matter. The fact is that she has game-breaking bugs, combined with an annoying cooldown regardless of how strong she is. She needs to be looked at further to, at the very least, fix the bugs.

Sorry, but I gotta say this in the way I feel better portrays how I view the devs deal with balancing:
I’m not sure if it’s just over reacting or that people are resistant to change in general. Because of this, we’ve decided to push these unwanted changes into the game on the basis that people are over reacting, and not listen to anyone on the forums unless they’re giving positive feedback or criticism we can reasonably argue against. I just hope that when these changes from the PTB are pushed, people will keep their mouths shut about it and not over react or make an instant judgement on how it “shouldn’t have made it into the final game”. These changes are fine to US, and that’s what we find the most frustrating thing to deal with.
Maybe the devs should take the criticism they’ve CONSTANTLY been given about making major changes to the game instead of repeating the same mistakes, and ease the public through their actions. Only then, people will respect the dev’s decisions and not over react because they think the devs are going to ruin the game.

But in all seriousness, please. Take a look at Nurse BHVR. She's suffering, over half her add ons are memes, she's buggy as all hell, and has tons of deadzones to deal with still. (I love going from the Pale Rose to basement while aiming up and forward.)
Yes. She is a good killer. But very frustrating to play after her changes, and particularly clunky. I'll never stop playing Nurse, ever. I LOVE Nurse. But I don't love the current STATE of Nurse. She needs no buffs, I'm not asking for that. Keep the cooldown, she's still powerful. But QOL changes would be nice. You've got other things to work on, but hopefully one day Nurse will get another look.
Every thread I have ever made has been ignored, so I severely doubt they’ll reply. Sorry.

Don't forget Freddy's teleport getting a 2 min CD.
I meean, he kinda needed a cooldown on teleporting across the map in three seconds. Plus, It decreases depending on how many people are asleep

You make a valid and important point. Cooldowns are the most anti-fun change a character can receive, and they're shallow understanding of their game makes them incapable of coming up with interesting changes to their characters. First of all I don't think Hillbilly needed a nerf AT ALL. He was an actually decent killer, not OP. But even if they're going to nerf him, making people be able to use his power less is such a bad design approach to a nerf. The "buff" to Leatherface is also a nerf in a way because it makes his chainsaw have a really long cooldown if people actually want to get good use out of it.
This.
Even if this change is hardly a nerf, it’s still guaranteed to cause Billy to be anti-fun.
