DS is not for anti tunneling. It's not a second chance perk.

It's a yellow flag for unsafe unhooks. Don't want to be DS'd? Dont tunnel. Did you down the first survivor after hooking a second one already? Bring a green mori or use your kitchen timer. I literally tunnel Laurie until she's mori-able. Dont ever give DS a chance.

The issue with DS is always end user experiences. The perk is totally fine and very easy to play around. If you have a singular playstyle, that's fine, but don't expect your hard counters to adapt around you. You have to adapt around it, and no matter how DS "gets fixed", you are still going to face an adversarial element with that specific perk.

It's not anti tunneling, but how can you say it's not second chance? The survivor failed to escape, yet was still able to nullify the chase. That's a second chance perk right there.

You don't NEED to tunnel to be hit with DS. You can go through two other chases and still be hit with it. You can hunt down and hook somebody else, and still be hit with it. The survivor can hop on a gen and complete objectives, and still be protected by it.

Your answer to DS is a mori? That's almost a certifiable depip right there. No thank you.

  • Does it matter? We're connecting to a server, not a killer's connection.

I suppose any info is good info, at least in this regard. Add it in.

  • Man, do I want my Xeno in game. I'd snap them up as my main in an instant. Sorry Plague.

  • If they bring more than two medkits. I'm pulling out my Plague.

  • Because they realize this game isn't meant for comms, and they backed themselves into a corner by allowing SWF in the first place when it comes to balancing?

You can't nerf SWF. Punishing players who play with friends is simply going to drive them away, and BHVR doesn't want to lose that cash pool.

If the devs were really serious about balancing out SWF (and at this stage of the game, I'm convinced they are not), they would redesign, or create, new information perks that give solos similar information comms does. Kindred is a good example. They can then buff killers to compensate.

Killers that have an issue with it are killers that allow themselves to have an issue with it.

If you know there's an obsession and you're not running obsession perks, someone has DS and that's when your gameplay changes and you have to be more aware during the match. No one forces you to pick a survivor up when they've been recently unhooked, no one forces you to open that locker when they jump in it. Simple go for the unhooker if you were camping the hook.

I don't understand the logic of some killers when there are counters to this perk and it's a 1 time use. How the hell is a 1 time use, 5 second stun perk affecting their gameplay. My God.

Personally, the only thing I have against DS is during EGC. DS is strong by itself, but in EGC, it becomes an incredibly powerful tool. It's a pain working around DS and BT during that stage, I've had survivors body block near the gate, to let the others escape, knowing they themselves have DS and I can't do anything about it.

  • Simply because you don't have an issue with it, does not mean others don't. Your own experiences can't make up for everybody else.

I'm not trying to tell you entitled players are right, just the opposite in fact. I didn't try to connect the terms, I made a statement just the way you did. I made it a blanket assumption and focused it on a particular set of people. If yours is acceptable, so is mine.

First, where do you get entitlement from?

Second, 'tunneling' is a blanket statement, which I attempted to break down. You attempted a bit of a red herring by throwing in gen rushing. If you're going to try that, at least break it down and link them in some way that can be discussed, instead of dipping into the name calling.

"Genrushing" is just the killer's way of blaming survivors for their mistakes. See what I did there?

Tried to connect two different terms? Gen rushing is separate from tunneling, because it's based on maps. You can't tell me the unhooked survivor with BT that runs up to the killer in the hopes of being smacked for sprint burst, yet screams tunneler when the killer waits out BT, is in the right. Or the survivor that goes Urban Evasion near the hook they were recently rescued from, and cries when the killer finds them and smacks them.

I did say there are actual tunnelers out there. Some is just on the killer being a douche, others when it can be needed. For instance, if a low skill killer is placed against three far better and one equivalent. If he can't catch the other three, he's going to focus on the one he can. Still tunneling, but it can be taken case by case.

  • In most cases, tunneling is just a survivor's way of blaming you for their mistakes. For instance, if they were recently unhooked, yet run into you, they expect you to leave them alone, otherwise 'YOU FILTHY TUNNELER!'

Now, there are actual cases of tunneling, when you focus down one survivor consistently, as that Reddit quote states. But, again, I wager a lot of the time it's on the survivors. Same with 'camping.'

This line caught my eye in particular:

"This last chapter is a very emotional milestone for us and we cannot wait to share it with you."

This could be just marketing (which is very likely), but I would think that if they are talking about a licensed Character, it might be Jason. Even tho, I think this is quite unlikely and I would not even know what his powers could be. So probably only marketing.

This 'last' chapter, or the 'latest' chapter?

How do you determine whether someone's "boring" or not? I personally enjoy playing against "meta" builds, because it implies that the person using them will pose some kind of challenge.

You realize most everybody runs meta builds. How you find the same setup time and time again 'enjoyable' is beyond me. I love to see new builds, win or fail, simply because it throws me for a loop when I actually see something new.

  • Not noticing too much of a difference. Temple of Purgation feels rough. I like the size now, but it feels like every possible loop has a pallet, and it's a slog to get through.

Iron Works isn't a nightmare with that god loop anymore, thankfully.

  • A radical thought. What if maps are only dark from a survivor's perspective? In most slasher flics, the killer can usually see just fine in the dark.

But yeah, I don't mind dimmer maps, but when you have an example like you just showed, and that horror show that is Sanctum, then there's a real issue.

  • If the killer focuses on one person exclusively, even if there are better targets.

It's a bit shaky, though, since there are a lot of things that can make one target a priority over another. If the survivor holds a key, for instance, and two gens are popped with four survivors still alive. Or if the other nearby survivors are at powerful loops, or just flat out better players. This is much more common, with the broken match making.

With that said, in general, if a killer goes for the unhooked survivor again and again.

  • The answer for survivors with anything that may give them trouble is to dc. No wonder low ranks dictate the balance of the game. . .

Iri head itself isn't an issue. Learn to dodge. She misses her throw, she needs to break chase to reload, or stick with an M1. And seeing it's on Hawkins, there's plenty of areas to use as cover.

I do agree it shouldn't pair up with Infantry Belt. Should remain one shot.

4-man SWF needs an action debuff or perk limiter (IE only 2 DSes, unbreakables, adrenalines, etc etc spread out over the four)

It'll never happen. You can't punish players for being grouped up, as much as I'd be fore it. You'll just push them away. A better idea would be to increase the rewards for everybody else. For every member inf a SWF, other solos and the killer gain increased rewards, the highest being a 4 man giving a substantial boost to the killer. Since devs refuse to balance SWF, the least that can be done is pay those going against it.

  • Walk by a chest and see Jane's rear just sticking out.

  • So, the killer, who needs to build around survivors, shouldn't be able to do so? It's four perks vs sixteen, plus four items. And you want to send the killer in blind? Do you realize how much of an advantage that is?

How often do you run into the same people? There are, what, 50k players? The only real time you'll run into the same players is in red ranks, where the pool is much smaller. I'm not exactly against having names hidden, but at the same time, sometimes I recognize a name and recall how they played, giving me info on if I want to continue or dodge.

Plus, what about streamers? It's how they promote themselves, via their names. I'll mori them, but still.

Because its a 4v1 game with 4 survivors and 1 killer? if we had equal numbers than queue times and matchmaking would somehow be worse? your argument is inherently flawed for an asymmetrical game?

Nobody forces players to play that side. Queue times are what they are like due to a lower killer player count, which came about due, in part, the Ruin change. Matches became sweat fests, and not many wanted to suffer through that. My argument simply points that out. Killer is anything but laughably easy, except in low ranks and against potato/boosted teams.

  • Hostage. I do not think that word means what you think it means.

  • About 45 minutes, I think. Was on old Lerrys. I was Nurse. Had managed to kill two in the first ten minutes or so, then spent the rest of the time looking for the remaining two. Just could not find them. Only managed it when I spotted Jane slowly getting into a locker. Forth found hatch.

In post game chat, I was pretty steamed. Come to find out, the remaining two would not surrender the hatch to the other, so instead attempted to hold the game hostage until somebody dc'ed, or made a mistake.

  • The new chunker would take three hits to put into dying instead of two.

Myers, he has addons that allow him to be infinitely tier 3, and he has addons that allow him to mori instantly survivors that are injured/healthy.

I completely forgot about Myers. . . I don't play him, so he didn't occur to me. In that case, be more aware and don't let him spend two minutes stalking.

  • The issue with Plague is if they manage to pop all five gens. They'll then 99% a gate, cleanse, and there's not much else you can do after that.

  • Give him a secondary power, which allows him to trap Survivor objects. When activated, his cloud goes poof, which may cause hallucinations. He's a clown, after all.

  • In the words of a great character. . .

  • I thought you were going to talk about her perk. . .

I don't mind the laugh. I'd prefer if it would happen with an action, say, landing a hatchet.

I wouldn't say the laugh makes her evil, at least in her mind. She's a hunter. People are her prey. Laugh probably comes off as a feeling of accomplishment.

  • Because you need to fit into a lobby that has room?

in Swf q times Comment by Rivyn
  • If killer is 'laughably easy,' why do survivor players outnumber killer players?

  • Mori for keys. By infinite exposed, I suppose you mean NOED? Did you know you can either A) break five totems to negate it, or B) wait for endgame and find the one lit totem? With Iri Head, did you know you can dodge? While I admit it shouldn't pair with Infantry Belt, if she misses, she's an M1 killer till she drops chase and reloads.

Who is 'you' who is 'destroying the game for 85%' of the playerbase? The killers? Devs? Space Jesus?

Honestly think we need more unsafe pallets, those tend to actually be fun.

O please no. I just ran through Temple of Purgation, and there almost two dozen pallets on that map. Felt like every possible loop had a pallet. Survivors can simply drop one pallet and make it to another before I can either break, or circle around.

  • Had a hill spawn next to the shack, with the window facing the hill. Was rough. . .

I'd imagine they would have to add in, or change the code that is involved with vaulting. Should just do a pass over tile sets around places where windows spawn, so this doesn't occur.

  • Because they know you can't do anything about it, so feel the need to rub it in your face.

  • Probably because they're boosted by their SWF. Had a SWF last night where they were complete potato powered on their own, but as a SWF, it make it frustrating. And they were rank 2!

If you don't camp or tunnel BT never activates...amazing right?

You don't need to camp to activate BT, though. You can simply chase another survivor nearby, and so long as the hooked survivor is a millimetre in the terror radius, BT activates. They can then proceed to body block (which should be looked at) until you either smack them, or wait it out. And in the EGC? Where they can guard their savior?

  • For me, Borrowed Time. I despise how it encourages stupid plays with little draw back. How somebody can simply follow me to a hook, wait for me to start walking way, get the save, and still give them BT. I hate that, in the EGC, it's almost a free escape.

I can work around DS, unless I down them near the exit gate, then it's, again, a free escape. I can work with Adrenaline, usually. Unbreakable can be annoying, but doable. OoO is practically broken against Trapper. Yet it's BT that I loathe the most, especially when two or more survivors are running it, and simply trading saves.

  • This isn't just SWF. Matchmaking itself has been trash for a few months, especially with the Ruin change, which caused killer players to either leave the game, or switch sides. Matchmaking can't make heads or tails, so until the devs get their new matchmaking system in play, we're stuck with this.

Though, from what I've read on the new system, I don't think it'll be much of an improvement.

  • Umbra. She doesn't often explain her builds, but it's interesting seeing her put them into action.

  • I got hit across the map at a gen by a hatchet a few days ago. Took be a few seconds to process. I knew she was across the map, because the survivor she just hooked had Kindred. From BBQ, obviously, but still. Don't know if it was just luck or skill. Either way, I complemented the heck out of her post game.

  • Dev will come in here saying 'it's high risk, high reward!,' even though most Hex perks are trash, and high risk literally means on the map for three seconds, in front of a survivor.

  • 'Tunneling isn't a problem, your lack of loop knowledge is.'

  • That I have to relearn the maps.

Had Temple of Purgation last night. Man, was that trippy. Not sure where survivors are saying there are dead zones, because that map now has pallets at every possible point.

In the first part of your comment you suggest using a meta perk then in the second you suggest dropping a meta perk make up your mind lol.

But tbh do you really excpect all survivors to be 100% optimal in finding totems, doing gens and getting save against a camping killer?

You have four perk slots. The usual builds I see are DS, an exhaustion perk, BT, and Adren. Surely one can be dropped for another perk.

No, I don't expect 100% competency from totems. Would be nice if people other than I actually did them, however. Still, if you see your team doing gens, then do a totem or two. Heck, you don't even need to do them, just remember where they were so you can backtrack and look for the lit one in end game.

If the killer is face camping, then there is no map pressure. You're free to do gens and totems. Better for one to die than three.

15 seconds to do one...theres 5 in a match. And thats if all them are found and that adds up if you do multiple... especially with again someone being camped to death your down to 3 people...

Which is why, if you're really worried about NOED, you run Small Game or Detectives Hunch. Bring a map as well.

  • How does NOED reward camping. If the killer is camping, doesn't that mean 'o hey! We can do bones and negate NOED!' It takes two minutes for a survivor to die on hook. It takes 15 seconds to do bones. That's a minute and 15 seconds. More than enough time to split that, make a BT save.

Honestly, isn't NOED complaining a meme at this point? Maybe if you dropped one of your meta perks, and threw in Small Game or Detectives Hunch, you'd have a better time.
