Yeah, which is my point, its a time that its okay to use BT. As for a killer being petty would be to chase down the BT user and hook them. If its a simple hook exchange then its whatever. I've never met a survivor who got mad because he traded hooks with a survivor because he felt like he had no option to go for the save.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1336252#Comment_1336252

Clearly you missed the point here. It's only petty if the killer decides to chase the person off hook. As a killer you left the survivors no option but to use BT and hope for a hook exchange. I guess in your defense, I could have made that more clearly, but thank you for showing me that your a standard reddit/forums user.

There are instances where it's not petty. For example, if the rescuer sprint bursts to a strong loop. Do you waste time at the loop, or go for the target that you can slug?

Or if the BT survivor body blocks, allowing the rescuer an escape. Or if they run up to you and hinder your progress, trying to get you to smack them to activate their BT.

Cases like these are the norm. It's like DS users who do gens, knowing they're safe from pickup for 60 seconds.

    And Waterfall.

You guys are so short sighted. Unbelievable. I am taught in this game to go and rescue your fellow survivors. One for all , all for one. So yes I try to rescue them with borrowed time and DS.

But you both miss my point because i'm not complaing, i'm looking for a solution.

But why should that one survivor that initially got caught have to be left on the hook to lose a pip and waste their time because they got matched in to a game with a bad killer that can’t play properly? Also the rest of the team getting no altruism points or chase points will prob lose a pip too if not just about keep one?

@Ferr0r Short sighted? The killers job is to KILL. Face camping is one strategy to use. How that makes somebody short sighted for an objective is beyond me. Yes, face camping is a bad strategy. Yes, it sucks for the person on the hook. They are already punished by the low bp output of such a strategy. It is only rewarded when players feed into it. There is no solution that can't be abused by survivors. Suck it up, do gens, get out, move on. If you're on the hook, either hold out, or give up and move on. If you want to keep trying for the save, go for it. Just don't act surprised when you 1) Farm them off hook and 2) Reward the killer's behavior by giving him more chances to earn blood points.

@kurtisohhbee If you do gens, then the killer will depip as well. We all have matches where the other side wastes our time. Be it survivors that suicide on first hook, or face camping Bubbas. You deal with it, and move on.

  • Maybe if you had done gens and got out, instead of hanging around going for the rescue every time, he wouldn't have gotten that 21k.

  • Make OoO an exhaustion perk.

  • It helps SWF. But then, devs pretend SWF doesn't exist, thus, OoO is fine.

  • Last June. Had about a week in the game. Made a post about survivor toxicity. Was brown ranks, at the time. I remember being amazed by how some survivors acted. You'd think I destroyed their homes or pets.

Wasn't new to toxic players in games, just that DbD was another step up, and it really surprised me. Every action I took felt judged to the point where I couldn't even kill, as killer, without being bm'ed.

I was such a young tike back then. Kinda miss those days when it bothered me.

  • I didn't care for Spine Chill, until I picked up Pig. God, do I hate Spine Chill

  • Remember, one of the reasons Ruin was nerfed was due to overuse. Can we do the same for Survivor perks, since the above builds are the norm?

  • Nurse, hands down. Not just because you need to think an extra step ahead, or the uncalled for cool down on top of a cool down, but because she's a bug simulator. You're not just facing off against four other players, you're fighting the game itself.

  • That's dedicated servers for you.

  • I landed a hatchet from Thompson House across the map yesterday. Made my day.

  • Demo. Seemed good in the PTB, then he went live and we saw how mid tier, at best, he is.

  • Killer rank matters, survivor rank doesn't, since you can just be boosted by swf. Which is going to become even more apparent with the 'new' matchmaking down the road.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

Devs have said that they will never punish people for playing with their friends. It's not gonna happen.

Back before SWF was a thing, players would just lobby dodge until they happened to get matched with their friends. So, if the devs tried to penalize SWF, my guess is the "Seal Team 6" players would do that while the casual having-fun-with-my-buds players would just stop playing altogether.

Rewards for killers for playing against SWF would be good, like a BP bump at the end (you wouldn't be able to tell the killer beforehand, it'd lead to too much dodging, but giving a reward after might provide some positive reinforcement even when the match goes poorly for the killer).

Not just the killer, but any solos stuck with a SWF.

  • Considering survivor queues take ten minutes, and killer takes 15 seconds? I think that's pretty explanatory.

  • You can't. SWF is a cash cow, and they may leave. Instead, just increase rewards for facing SWF.

  • It's not going to change much, if anything.

  • That they are immature toddlers looking for attention. Just ignore them. I've had games won simply because they've thrown themselves at me to get my attention.

  • I find DS + BT to be oppressive in EGC with low mobility killers. Should I ask for a nerf because of that?

I imagine PoP will be nerfed down the road. Devs did say they want less synergy between killer slow down perks.

Still, wanting to nerf certain perks because they can be better utilized on high end killers doesn't seem like much of a reason. Think about how long it takes for killers like Bubba or Clown to cross maps.

Or maybe the killer shouldn't chase the same survivor for the entire match

If they care about body count or pipping, sure. If they don't who cares? In this day and age of terrible matchmaking, who's to say the killer wasn't a rank 20 with three minutes of playtime that didn't know any better?

  • What's the issue? You failed to be chased. That's on you. Maybe slow down and actually play the game, instead of trying to put as little time as possible into a match?

  • @Johnny_XMan Why does it make sense to pull somebody off hook with the killer nearby, and not expect the killer to go after the weak link? I don't understand why it must always be the fault of the killer for capitalizing on survivor mistakes.

I understand what the OP was speaking about, i did agree with him in my first post. There are hardcore tunnelers that will go out of their way to tunnel somebody out of a match, I don't deny that. But at the same time, I also acknowledge that a good portion of cases where survivors scream 'tunneling,' it's either on them (running back into the killer, for instance), or their team, for taking them off hook when the killer is right there.

  • In most cases, no. Hex perks in general are pretty low on the totem pole, simply because of how bad most map spawns function right now.

  • @megdonalds said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1321196#Comment_1321196

That's nonsense. There are lots of bad and/or mad killers that always tunnel and camp the sh!t out of survivors no matter what they did or not did. And it doesn't even matter if against solos or SWF.

So, survivors can make no mistakes, and it's all the killers fault for an 'unfun' game, eh?

Please. If a survivor leads the killer back to hook, then ditches the rescued survivor, who's at fault if the killer goes after the weaker target? It goes both ways. The killers job is to, you know, KILL! If the survivor is going to farm you off hook without protecting the unhooked target from a dangerous situation, why blame the killer? They're doing their job.

'There are lots of bad and/or mad survivors that always farm the *** out of their fellow survivors.' Simply because it's survivor vs killer, doesn't also mean it isn't survivor vs survivor out there.

  • I can argue the opposite. It's not the killers fault, it's the survivors who unhooked. If the killer is close enough to even catch you straight off the hook, than the blame should be placed on the survivor who did the rescuing, especially without BT. They basically farmed you for points. Can you really blame the killer if you're pulled off hook in their face, and the rescuer doesn't at least take a protection hit, instead sprinting to the nearest pallet?

Now, I'm not saying hardcore tunneling doesn't exist, and is a pretty unfair playstyle around it. I understand in a lot of cases killers will tunnel, simply for the sake of doing it. But on the other hand, I feel at least part of the blame comes down to survivors not knowing when or how to safely rescue somebody.

  • Probably just deranking.

What does it matter? Do gens, find better stuff in chests, break bones, move on.

  • Because Clown sucks on your fingers.

    And Kate.

  • Lullaby isn't affected by M&A, just her terror radius. You 'could' throw survivors off by the decreased TR, but I don't see it as being helpful unless you have an indoor map, and thus able to hide fairly well.

I literally specified slugging at the beginning of the game. "There's one thing you failed to read" - and it was the OP.

    Not really?

'...and just slug everyone early on' isn't descriptive enough. Sometimes I'll slug the first person I down in a match if I see a better target. I may even slug two if I see a third healing the first. I don't aim for them to bleed out, but opportunities present themselves, I need to take them. Slugging can be a lot more powerful than hooking when used right. Does that mean I'm playing badly?

If you said 'just slug everyone early on and force a bleed out,' then we'd be talking. It's the bleed out with no intention of ending it that is toxic.

  • There are two different types of slugging you failed to separate.

The first is when you slug for pressure. This is fine, and is a great slow down tool killers have.

The second is to slug, just to let them bleed out. I consider this toxic, and have suggested a 'suicide' option in the past. If you're at half of the bleed out timer or less, you can simply give up and die, moving on to another match.

  • No need to punish. Simply double, maybe triple the kill score on that one hook so that the killer can at least safety pip.

  • I'm actually running perkless Bubba. Attempting to derank out of red, but it's not really working. Taking pics of my matches, so maybe I'll upload the set later. It's rather surprising how well he does against solo survivors.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

It's a wasted perk slot for Huntress really.

All it's good for is reloading hatchets, that's it. She's a 110% speed mobility killer who relies on her ranged attacks. By the time she's near you, your Exposed Status effect is long gone, and you should be too.

Yes, and no. It can synergize with BBQ. Players will try to hide in lockers to escape BBQ's aura reading. IM then gives you some map awareness.

But I do agree. The expose is pointless for slower killers to work with.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1312151#Comment_1312151

Wouldnt that apply for the opposite side, too? That "force me to use this build" is the same argument killers use to justify running NOED etc.

Sure, I won't deny that. But then, once you get to higher ranks, doesn't NOED usage drop off? I've only ever made it to purple as survivor (grew bored), but in the last month, I've only seen NOED a handful of times. Take it with a grain of salt, since again, I don't have much interest in survivor play.

Alternatively, survivors from brown to red ranks usually run the same builds every time, with maybe one or two perks swapped out here and there for slightly less meta perks. I've got a growing collection of snaps I've been taking in my current run as a perkless Bubba, and it's rather depressing how many survivors run the same builds at red ranks, repeatedly.

  • They become complacent, and instead of switching things up in higher ranks, they claim 'killers force me to use this build,' as an excuse to keep the same old, same old.

I agree, it's boring, but what can ya do.

  • 360 = back up. I sometimes lose sight of them if I try and keep the camera on them, so simply back up two or three steps. Much easier.

Window tech = tilt your camera to the ground when vaulting. So as to catch sight of them, be it their pants, Dwights bells, or Blendettes hair.

Locker tech = Bit tricky. If they were recently unhooked, then it could be DS. Either wait it out, or move on. If they're popping in to avoid an attack, then they're going to pop out during the animation. Sometimes you can catch them in a grab. Or bait them out. They could have Head On, so keep to the side of the locker. Move in, then back out in order to attempt the bait.

  • It looks like the Yamoka Estate was brightened. . . thank god! Here's hoping Sanctum was given the same upgrade.

  • How badly did they have to be to get three hooks in under a minute. . .

  • And the killer you played before exiting the game is the one at the campfire.

  • Isn't it still the opinion that Deathslinger is a weaker Huntress, though?

And people thought Clown was strong? Really? Man, just how weird was the game back then to have that impression. . .

  • 1) The ranged attack has a windup, and can be dodged. PH cannot flick like, say, Huntress.

    2) His cage sends them to a spot farthest from the killer. How can you camp when they're on the other side of the map.

    3) They need to have been on death hook, plus being affected by Torment. If both conditions are met, the kill saves time carrying to hook, seeing as they were already dead.

    4) Okay?

    5) This will be handled case by case. Some will stomp a new PH, others will be stomped. Much like any skill vs skill match.

    6) But it also stops PH from using any hook based perks, like PGTW and BBQ.

Summarizing: Maybe wait till after PTB, when changes will most likely be added, before judging?

He can use some adjustments. For instance, decrease the amount of times he can use his ranged attack so as not to spam it. Heck, make it so it can't place in the dying state if need be. But his kit has a lot of potential, and he can easily make it to the upper tiers on the killers list. Finally, somebody to stand alongside, or near, the top four.

  • I am. . . Don't get me wrong, I do like Silent Hill, and am glad it's finally in the game.

Yet, a sentence like 'This new chapter will feature a classic license, one that has marked the world of horror since its inception,' had me thinking, well, older. Xenomorph has always been near and dear to me, and with a sentence like that, I figured it was written up just for her. So yeah, I'm disappointed. Glad, but disappointed.

  • @OmegaXII Nerfed how? I haven't seen the patch notes yet, or any vids.

    Lol wut?

theres always going to be franchises and media that can be considered more iconic. I didn’t like the ghost face chapter because Jason is more iconic and they’re only allowed to release chapters that are the most iconic at the time.. do you see where I’m going with this. Silent hill is hugely iconic, especially in the world of video games, I think many forget or don’t know that silent hill completely changed the game for horror in gaming.

Think what you will. I personally think Silent Hill isn't up there with some of the more classic characters, like Alien, Dracula, and Jason. I'll enjoy the DLC, just not as much as if the hype was accurate. Whether you think it fits is up to you.

  • Maybe so, but there are characters out there are stand out as 'iconic.' When the devs hype it up as 'emotional' and 'classic,' Silent Hill isn't the first on that list.

Don't get me wrong, I like Silent Hill. I do think it's iconic, especially with the siren. But again, there are franchises out there that are above it.

  • 30 bucks. Two skins, and the first battle pass. Then they changed Ruin, and I vowed to not support with my wallet till serious changes were made. Some good ones, as of late, but more is needed. Maybe, if the killer is Xeno, I'll drop some more.

  • I'm in favor of this. I'd like to know this, myself. But then, this deals with SWF, and we all know the devs pretend SWF doesn't exist. Their inaction in balancing with SWF is case in point.

  • I mean, it's clicky clicky. So what? If they chase you to clicky clicky, that's one less person not doing gens.

What needs to be fixed is being able to blind when not in the FoV. But flashlights themselves are fine.

  • What gets me are the perks. I love that part of the justification for the Ruin nerf was that it was overused, yet look at them survivor perk sets.
