Valentines Bloodhunt???
-
It's not always the case but there is high potential for a game of killer to be a miserable experience.
Game has been out a while. Too many good survivors around...

Like it matters, it's not like it's balanced or ever will be regardless of what they feel kill rates are.
Exactly. Its all futile at this stage. The game is what it is. The core of the game is baked in and tinkering round the edges wont ever make much difference.
Either 'enjoy' it for what it is or play something different. Anyone ever expecting radical change is going to be disappointed.
-
The chains are obviously a metaphor for the restrictions, lack of power and handicap that is the killer experience in Dead by Daylight.
Deep.
-
If you combine Fired Up with Bamboozle do you vault faster than a survivor?
-
Weak power, no map presence, some nice cosmetics - Clown is in a perfect spot right now.
-
It would be nice if Corrupt Intervention kicked in when there are 3 gens left rather than at the beginning.
-
Even if the killer can break through walls most likely the power will be on a meter that you have to charge up by doing some sort of busywork.
Then there will probably be a second of 'exhaustion' before you can do anything after breaking through a wall.
There will be add-ons that reduce the meter charge or exhaustion by tiny, almost unnoticeable amounts.
Yes I am a cynic...

Yes, this, and he meant Whispers, hehehe
I changed it but whiskers would probably help as well!
-
Your problem is not finding the hatch its finding the 4th survivor.
Maybe run whispers?
-
I don't mind this map. The hatch is always easy to find at least as it always spawns on the ground floor.
Don't mind it as killer either. Although the big terror radius doc strategy is now no more...
-
Well we can make a condition for activation then so it cant be used in the early game. Like cleansing a dull totem or something.
That sounds fine. Only thing I'm struggling with is the lore behind this. Why would the entity want to block windows for survivors? To give them hope I guess. That's the catch all explanation for most things lore wise.

It's already hard enough to catch a good survivor, never alone giving them the opportunity to block a window which I could use to cut them off.
Just once per match at the cost of another perk wouldn't be too much to ask would it?
-
Operation Health was the original plan but someone typed the memo wrong as 'Operation Wealth'.
They hired 30 people to make cosmetics. By the time anyone realized the mistake it was too late and the rest as they say is history.
-
I think the killers should carry the lit totems with them and if they get stunned or blinded they lose it.
-
My opinion. Not worth taking and what's worse is it was like the last block you take out of Jenga before the whole thing collapses.
Now the game is a mess, I have to queue for 15 minutes just to get in a game with a rank 18 killer with one perk or an AFK Wraith.
My favourite killers are now useless, my yin-yang is out of balance and my wife is leaving me all because they nerfed ruin.
-
OP I think you have the basis of a really good idea here. May I be allowed to put the cherry on the cake?
To stop survivors hiding in lockers all match we need to make them earn bloodpoints. This can only been done by milking cankers which are placed randomly around the map. For every vial the survivors fill they get 1000 bloodpoints.
Killer gen stopping perks now effect cankers. Canker Ruin. Pop goes the Canker and Canker Intervention.
-
I have been playing as Wraith who never appears.
The only perk I run is Hex Ruin.
I find the totem and if its in a narrow gap I stand in front of it invisible.
Its funny when survivors find it but cant get near it.
That's how I get my kicks these days.
-
Thing is doing gens is the most boring activity in the game isn't it?
I do agree the games need to be lengthened but there must be another way?

Well why is there a shortage in killers now? Back in December and November my matchmaking was fine I could play as green rank killer and get matched with green rank survivors
Maybe something happened that made killer less attractive to play?
-
There are lots of high rank survivors but not many high rank killers.
So you are sent to play with the red ranks like a lamb to the slaughter, a play thing for the survivors like a kitten being taunted with a piece of string.
If you insist on carrying on the devs have some practical hints for you. Watch some you-tubers, hook one survivor and then go searching for another or just think of yourself as a sort of 'Dungeon Master' and its your job to give the survivors a fun little adventure.
-
There is shortage of doctors over here in the UK so I would definitely bring back Herman Carter.
As for survivor - they are just skins so it doesn't really matter.
-
Sourcing a larger supplier for a second production run of the David King pillow.

Killers face high ranks as there are fewer killers not bad matchmaking.
SWF Comms is a huge balance issue but not for BHVR
Simples
Yes! Exactly. Not enough killers to go round. Matchmaking is most likely working as intended.
-
Ace Visconti's jockstrap.
-
Billy's Brother 'The Mechanic' - he can tamper with generators so that normal skill checks cause regression and great skill checks grant no extra progress.
-
I wonder when they will swallow their pride and revert the Ruin changes?
-
If he is gay he is definitely still in the closet.
The lore doesn't mention anything either way.
He probably has other things on his mind anyhow. Like escaping from that psychopath who wants to hang him from a meat hook...

Been playing the game for about a year now, maybe a little more. I've always found both roles to be pretty enjoyable, but I tended to play killer more when I wanted to feel more engaged with the game's mechanics. Every DLC that has come out? I've purchased. Good skins/outfits that I like for my characters? I've purchased. I've bought both Rift-Passes, also.
But I have to say now... i'm done.
Let me make one thing crystal clear as to why: This has nothing to do with the Ruin change in a vacuum, even though by proxy it has to do with that. What the Ruin change has demonstrated to me is simple: By my observation, there is no long-term strategy, or high-level view of the overall game mechanics and how everything works together by the dev team. Changes like this are made willy nilly without any seeming understanding of what it would do to the overall health of the game.
Ruin was a problem for a number of reasons, but it was more of a sign of the greater issues with the game itself.
~Games are too short.
~There is only one objective.
~Survivor's task in repairing generators is not that engaging.
What did Ruin do? It alleviated these problems to some extent. It added in an (albeit droll) side-objective, and it extended the length of the game. That's it. Nothing really much more.
But when you make a change like this? What happens... All of those problems suddenly become exacerbated, and incredibly obvious. Games are now flying by. Survivors, especially those on comms, are able to pull off the game's objectives way too fast. Even at a baseline, the duration of time that a killer takes to down and hook one survivor against a coordinated group is not enough to have them succeed in getting the kills they need to win the game unless they are ***extremely*** practiced. That doesn't include Survivor Perks that continue to extend it even further: like Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time, or the relative power of Toolboxes.
If a change like this is made, it needs to be done with an overall vision of and wholistic approach to the game's design. That needs to be communicated to the players as well. IE: "We're making changes to perks that are frustrating to play against on both sides, but here are the changes that we're going to package in with that. Side objectives, Gen Speed, Toolboxes, game-lengthening perks, etc. We plan, as a team, to release those changes in this order to test them. 1, 2, 3, 4."
Barring that, the visibility that the players thus see is that the Devs are winging it: "Oh, this perk was frustrating for survivors because they had to hold M1 longer on a gen." .... thus... nerf. It seems short-sighed. Like there isn't a coherent, long-term goal behind such a thing, or that crucial wholistic view of the game's overall pacing.
And the result? Every killer game I now play is frustrating as hell. It's not uncommon to get Survive with Friends teams, and really, i'm not complaining about it when I do... but it really shows how quickly generators can be done. The sheer number of games i've "lost" because of how fast they are ending is beyond count at this point, and what's funny is that the survivor teams i'm facing even seem to recognize that. They've told me to just play survivor until it blows over.
Well... here's the deal: I've played games like this for over twenty years now, and I know for a fact that what speaks heaviest? Is when people who spend a decent amount of money on the game vote with their wallet, and that's just what i'm going to do now.
I have uninstalled the game. I will not approach it until there is a clear direction on the game's health, and a clear plan for how these things are going to be addressed. Enough is enough with the winging-it changes.
You guys, as a team, have clearly demonstrated that you can do some cool things when you put your minds to it. I have loved some of the new killers you've put out, your art and sound design is incredible, and you clearly have a love for your players.
You just need to have a better idea of how even a small decision like this negatively impacts the state of the game, you need to have a better vision for changes like this in the future, and you need to be better at communicating that with players.
Until I see those kinds of changes? I'm done.
And no, you can't have my stuff :P (Old MMO Term. Points to those who are aware of it)
I have uninstalled from my ps4 also. I agree with what you say and you have expressed it far more eloquently than I could have done.
-
I am 90% sure I am finished now
Ruin nerf was the final straw for killer.
I wouldn't mind playing survivor but I dont have a lot of gaming time and ps4 queues are too long.
But also I feel I have seen the best of this game. All the good ideas for perks and killers have been done. I dont know what else they can create which isn't a hotch potch of stuff that already exists.
I acknowledge I have burnout. Maybe if i came to the game fresh today it would seem as exciting as when I first played it. I'm not sure. I think it was a lot simpler to understand when I started. Less perks and the killer powers were easier to understand.
-
Winning there is no fun in this game.
-
I have not played killer since the change. Still absolutely fuming mad.
-
Best comment I saw on new Ruin said it was good on killers that dont need it and bad on ones that do.
I think I go along with that.
-
Have had insta lobbies as killer on PS4 for a long long time. The last time I didn't was during that event where everyone wanted to fill their killer vial with nectar and that was ages ago.
However survivor is always a long wait. Perhaps too long now. If you end up in a 'bad' match its easy to go 30 minutes without any decent gaming. Hard to justify playing that role anymore but killer is also infuriating so what to do.....
-
I use self care 95% of the time. Its really good!
You can heal yourself as many times as you need at a time and place of your choosing in about 30 seconds.
Once healed the killer has to hit you twice before you are downed again!
Very powerful perk.

Yeah, the skin is not the problem, we all know, but I surely was thinking about making him a main cause of it... I had him in level 32 cause I almost never used him... Now I remember why...
I thought you were going to say the ears stopped you getting through a gap or something whilst in a chase...
Personally I like Clown and do quite well with him but then again I play at low ranks so my opinion doesn't count.
-
The Dumbo aspect had nothing to do with your horrible experience as clown.
Had high hopes for some good entertainment when I read the thread title but am leaving disappointed...
-
Survivor queues were long for me on PS4 last night as well. For some reason people don't want to play killer? I cant understand it.
-
Filing this one in the 'Just no!' drawer alongside the request the guy made to have his 10 year old nephews killer drawings put into the game on the Springwood map.

That is every games business model aside from small indie's. What I'm saying is do a little more of it that way they have the fund to fix things faster. However if funds isn't the problem then I don't know. I don't want to say it's a lost cause, but some of the problems/bug that they have been circulating around since the get go, should have been long fixed by now. (Specifically talking about match making)
The match making problem is due to a shortage of killers.
Luckily they are taking steps to fix this by incrementally making killer more and more frustrating to play. This should in time attract more people to play that role, fix matchmaking and ensure the long term health of the game.
-
So you think they need to make more outfits and charms (and something else unspecified) to sell to idiots so they can afford to get more people to come and fix the bugs and generally sort it out.
Is that not their current business model?
-
BBQ is OP threads are so 2017....
-
They said there would be no clown killer and look what happened.
Pirate is coming for sure. Probably as the killer in the John Carpenter 'The Fog' chapter.
-
Another satisfied customer...
-
Have not played since the ruin change.
-
Generally yes I do. Especially if they don't try and crawl away.
No-one has ever complained though.
-
Canker suction device - Can milk a canker of nectar tremendously quicker.
-
Think of time as an elastic concept.
As Einstein said 10 minutes in the company of a pretty girl feels like seconds.
10 minutes waiting for a bus in the cold feels like an hour.
Try to enact the first one I guess and the queue will seem quicker?
You're welcome.

I am currently seeing a psychologist as I have uncontrollable urges (as yet unacted upon) to commit violent acts.
As part of a new type of therapy rather than try to subdue those urges it is felt it may be beneficial to expel them in a controlled environment. I tried a few violent games but Dbd proved to be the most beneficial. So far.
Although don't ask me about the time I came across a coxcombed clapped in real life. Game and reality became blurred. Even though I thought I was invisible fortunately everyone else could see me coming and so luckily no-one got hurt.

How much money do they make from the rift pass?
