It's not like For The People is meta right now...
OoO has a function outside of being the Obsession too. But since this thread is about the aura exchange + action buff every 30 seconds, you can easily use DS and/or For The People with it to keep recycling yourself as the Obsession.
The whole point of OoO is to encourage you to want to be the Obsession to get the best effects from it, this is typically because most Killer Obsession perks give a negative effect that the Survivors should not want to be affected by.
This idea ruins that risk reward and just makes it a reward perk. Not a good idea.
I hate to break it to you, but For the People isn't meta. Even if it was, Object of Obsession wouldn't be the reason. It's because of Buckle Up.
I don't think you should be forced to run Decisive or For the People to get an Aura reading perk to work properly. You say it's to "encourage" you to be the obsession, but you don't actually have much control over that at all outside of a tiny number of perks. It's mostly down to chance, and it will be further out of your favor with the increased use of DS.
In fact, even if you DO run FTP, you'll pretty much be guaranteed to not be the obsession at the start of the match due to the decreased chance from FTP, which will reduce the perk's effectiveness slightly anyway.
The risk of Object is in the fact that you can be revealed at inopportune times (which does already happen). Making the timer always active wouldn't take all the risk out of the perk at all. It's meant to link you to the killer and grab their attention. This has an inherent risk to it and can backfire.
-
"But we don't want to encourage people leaving the game" - BHVR, probably
Just ignore the fact that hook suicides exist or something.
-
When giving feedback, it's better if it comes from an actual person who played the game, and not an AI.
-
This is kinda unrelated but seeing Huntress run at like a full sprint in that video is kind of jarring LMFAO.
-
@SuperCop said:
The only change this perk should have, if any is that you're guaranteed to be the obsession and no one else can be.
As far as removing survivor's aura? Nah. That part should stay. This perk is for those who want the killer's attention similar to Scene Partner.
If you don't want their attention, don't run it. If you want to just see their aura any time use a key with Blood Amber.
That idea would kinda fall apart when more than one person brings Object. You can't have 2 Obsessions. Just decouple the timer from needing to be the Obsession.

but the obsession would continue to see the killer's aura every 30 seconds, only those who are not obsessed will see the killer every 60 seconds, but it's better than nothing, don't you think?
and even so, there will be a lot of main killers complaining about this change, it is difficult to give an idea in DBD because there are two opposing sides, and no matter how much you explain the idea they will always think that things will be broken or OP, and many times In practice, almost no one will use
I mean, the idea is to make it so there's not a massive discrepancy between being the Obsession and not. Doubling the timer for the non-Obsessions doesn't really achieve that.
I don't think a minor buff to Object in it's current state will be massively complained about, anyway. And even so, people will complain about anything regardless. You could buff Corrective Action and there'd be at least one person who gets upset.
-
@kaoraku said:
So what you basicly wants is a free aurareading the whole game for no drawback or gamble at all.
You do know Object has a drawback, right? When it activates, the killer sees you.
@JoaoVanBlizzard said:
In fact, I prefer not to be obsessed just to be able to see the killer when the killer sees my aura, sometimes I end up dying because this perk reveals me at times when I didn't want to
One change I would like this perk to have would be:
-The obsession would not have its aura revealed to the killer if he had stealth (note: only through this perk, if the killer has an aura revealer he will see it anyway)Now, if we were to use your idea, what we could do would be:
survivors who are not the obsession will be able to see auras every 60 seconds, the idea is that the obsession has a difference even
Once per 60 seconds would be pretty much nothing. 30 seconds is already kinda long.
-
@Seraphor said:
If you want to heavily nerf the perk, sure.
Its complete reversal of an important killer tool is balanced by the fact that it doesn't work 100% all the time.
But the Aura reversal does work all the time. It's the intermittent Aura reveal that's tied to the Obsession.
@moputopia said:

Wouldn't it be completely overpowered without the self reveal? You would just get wallhacks on the killer every 30 seconds, with no downside or activation condition, and them not able to know you have the perk? The self reveal makes it riskier, but it's what balances it out.
@ReverseVelocity To be fair OoO still works if you're not the obsession, telling you if and what aura reading perks the killer has. But I see the argument, since that's also up to chance and they might not have any. I personally think it's just a high risk perk in general. But maybe it could have a considerably weaker regular effect if you're not the obsession, but still do something.
Yeah, you still get the aura reversal, but that's just worse Distortion at that point imo. I think the perk should be high risk in the terms that the killer knows where you are instead of the risk of it just not working, that's always been the main theme of the perk.
The old iteration, despite its flaws, didn't completely deactivate when you weren't the obsession, it just got slightly weaker. It feels like it's going to be nearly mandatory to run something like DS or FTP to regain the Obsession effect after the next update and that really sucks. The perk should consistently put you in the spotlight, regardless of if you're the Obsession or not.

and that hasn’t even changed to this day
I still do this all the time I’m still hitting survivors whenever they interact into any form or animation mid chase (vaulting, pallet dropping, etc)
it had counterplay and it was to play around the fact that you’re playing against a ranged killer who can hit you mid loops and you had to play around it
And “M2 faking into an M1” is still a thing btw
M2 faking is still a thing, yes, but there's actually a cooldown on it. You get some time to make it to a pallet/window. There's more counterplay than there was before.
Also what does "it had counterplay and it was to play around the fact that you’re playing against a ranged killer who can hit you mid loops and you had to play around it" mean. That doesn't actually explain any counterplay at all.

Distort and OoO are completely different perks even without the self reveal every 30 seconds.
They overlap a bit because they both provide you information about the Killer's Aura reading perks. It's just one gives you info on the killer's position and the other gives you stealth.
-
@Steakdabait said:
I would outright rather that it didn't have the self reveal at all
I mean, the self reveal is what makes the perk what it is. If you don't want it, you may as well run Distortion at that point.
-
I'd like to see the duration of the perk reset when you hit someone while it's active. If you hit someone when there's like 2 seconds of activation left, you only get those 2 seconds, which sucks.

all his cages rlly need are adjustments with the rng and maybe an adjustment to the cage anti face camping feature
I’ve played this killer for years and I’m gonna tell ya
The rng is so predictable and easily memorizable
The devs should just do adjustments to his cage spawns because for one fact they all have a very memorizable spawn locations which makes it easy to tunnel
Personally I’d be fine if they do adjustments to the “uncage notification”
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3695168#Comment_3695168
I agree they should bring back release pyramid head
His old POTD was so fun to use and didn’t feel too miserable
Also his POTD attack isn’t rlly that bad while being clunky the only problem with it is that it’s anti-beginner but once you start getting used to playing with his POTD it becomes less miserable and more fun to use
Also cages aren’t the only thing he has going for him
He’s still easily one of the best antiloop killers in the game
He just needs an addon pass
His old POTD had basically no counterplay. You'd either take the vault and he'd hit you with it, or you wouldn't take the vault and he'd instantly cancel into an M1.
-
Circle is in a good spot. It allows for super fast resets. Just don't put it in areas where the killer frequents.
-
Awwww this is really sweet, i love it!

What worries me is this:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BYPLTCRFXPTT/untitled.png
Note that it says my video card there, and despite what the error says of the minimum required being 23.3.2, the latest drivers for the R9 380 Series cards is 22.6.1. Now that video card prices have gone back down from the crazy NFT/Bitcoin days I might be finally able to get a new card, but it won't be soon, not until July or August at the soonest.
I really hope these "known issues in D3D12" will not make the game unplayable.I mean that card is nearly a decade old at this point, it's gonna fall behind as things get updated.

Yeah but stated by mclean himself (the creator of blight) was fine.
Was fine, maybe. That was 3 years ago. He doesn't even work at BHVR anymore and it's quite likely that the developer's opinions have changed in that time.

Do you want to just play against a perkless Trapper?
It's almost like different people hold differing opinions and not every single thread you see is part of some survivor hivemind or something.
Just because one person expresses their dislike for playing against a certain killer doesn't mean that every single survivor wants to play against a perkless trapper.

man pyramid head has so much potential for mori animations
The tongue scene from sh2 could make a cool mori
Or maybe a spear cage mori as a reference/nod to sh2
Yeah, Pyramid Head's actual Mori (not just final judgement) is like one of the best. You just never see it.
We need Cypress Moris basekit…

Anyone know if they said anything new in the Discord thing? Or was that also delayed?
Yeah, that's delayed too.

@sizzlingmario4 said:
Well that's unfortunate but I appreciate them doing this. I'd much rather have a delayed PTB that works properly than an on-schedule PTB that's a buggy mess.
True, I wouldn't some extra BP though…..
-
That'd be really cool but I doubt it's either practical or wanted by BHVR unfortunately.
-
We are getting basekit anti tunnel on July 19th 2022.
-
Yeah 3% for 3 seconds is nothing. It needs both of those numbers upped a bit.
-
They bugged it. I assume it'll be fixed in a coming update.
-
Yeah, it's a 6m TR, but permanently Undetectable.
-
I agree. Holding a tape carries no risk at the moment. I wouldn't give Ring Drawing the previous function, though, I'd give it a new effect.
-
I had a game similar to that a couple years back, also on Shelter Woods funnily enough. Didn't clip the whole thing unfortunately:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPG0ZWPPBGs -
Updates require packaging, certification and distribution. Unfortunately some things are gonna take a little while because they can't just push out an update whenever. If they miss the window to make a change before certification then they have to wait until the next update.
It sucks but that's just the way things are. It's not really BHVR's fault, it's a logistical thing.

Yeah, the yellow border indicates it's active.
This is what it looks like when you don't get enough tokens:

I don't really like Plague at all. I don't like how passive she can be, and how many perks she negates.
It's just a pet peeve though, I don't think she should be significantly changed. I think the passive infection rate could be reduced a little though.

Genuinely don't understand why people are taking a meme gamemode seriously to begin with to make the other side miserable. At least sweat in regular DBD or something. Insta-kill quick play gamemodes should for sure give survivors baseline Unbreakable.
Because this is Dead by Daylight and some Dead by Daylight players are out to completely ruin it for everyone else.

either give me a big red button in the basement i can push that sucks them out like a toilet flush or give killers emotes and let me flip them of while they tbag like there life depends on it
There should be an exit gate in the basement for Killers, with accompanying refreshments and snacks.
But in all seriousness bleedouts and exit gate tbaggers are annoying as hell and there should be something to make it less annoying. This game can be frustrating enough by itself for a lot of people.

Of course their answer to buffing killers is haste. People spent 5 months screaming about how insanely, game-winningly-overpowered 3% haste is.
Although now it's certainly flipped into '3% doesn't make that big of a difference' now that MfT has been torched to the ground. Funny that.
I don't think Made for This would've been complained about if it lasted for 5 seconds after being injured.

@PotatoPotahto said:
Let's start with features that prevent survivors from being unhookable and then we can speak about the ones preventing bleeding out
I don't think they want to make Bleeding Out impossible, just have an option for the Survivor to allow it to go faster.
If anything that'd alleviate the issue slightly.
-
They buffed both of the killer's basekits and reworked a couple of addons because of that.
I don't think that's "pandering".

blight's power allowed him to slide and this was also intended due to how the collision hit detection. blight detection is getting fixed. it is only fair to fix killer detection's.
Blight's power allowing him to slide was in fact, not intended for a long time. It was labelled as a bug for years.

Me chewing through both Survivors on an unhook with my chainsaw, deactivating their DS (another survivor went down, i wasn't tunneling).

You can butter it up any way you want. It's called organised win trading. The prize has no real negative effect on the majority of the player base except the excessive amount of rare & Iridescent addons you can accumulate through methods like this, but other than that it really doesn't matter about someones prestige level.
It will only become an issue if for some reason they decided to nerf BP events because of such actions or if they ever decided to implement an actual ranked MMR system. It's probably one of the main reasons we currently don't have a ranked system in place. Way too easy to exploit & a headache the Devs really don't want to get into.
Good to know a lot of you endorse these kind of exploits though & don't really care about the integrity or future of the game.
I mean considering you can stack up a huge amount of ultra rare addons during an event if you grind then that's not a massive deal. It's not like BHVR balance that much around rarity anymore.
We also have an actual ranked MMR system, every game is ranked. It's just invisible.

His hitbox comes from the top down, so if you crouch behind something, it won't hit.

I think i misunderstood how the perk works 😅
I thought it worked like lucky break does.
Nah, it's on a cooldown. 140s at Tier 3 (which is SUPER long anyway). The timer is that cooldown being shown.
The perk deactivates if you get further than 12m of each other or one of you gets hit. You can tell if the perk is active by if the Perk's icon is lit up behind the timer or not.

ahh okay thank you. Which perks change the amount?
Huntress Lullaby increases the penalty by 6% while it's up.
Technician increases the penalty of Generator Skill Checks by 3%.
Bite the Bullet reduces the penalty of Healing Skill Checks to 1%.
Overcharge's special Skill Check has an increased penalty of 4%.
Deadline reduces the penalty of missed skill checks by 50% while injured.
I think that's all of them.
