Because you aren't listening and talking about what can be made better for the overall experience of them, you're just coming in and being like git gud, then wonder why someone like me loses a bit of their respect for you nor wastes their time discussing with you or the others who come in to be like lmao let me force my opinion as fact?
Legion could be a much more fun character to play as and face, I feel like the support component to them is great accessory to 2v8, but their needs to be more ways to deal with them/a longer power CD like even up to 30 seconds to a minute with how potent it is. or a class that can stun killers to interupt their power or buy time for other survivors to recover, it cannot stand as it is it's not 1v4.
Because otherwise:I'm mainly talking about how I don't think Legion is actually that bad. There's a surprising number of ways to counter them and Undetectable is not a good status effect when paired with Legion. Enforcer is a way better class pick for them if you ask me.
You asked for people's thoughts, I gave my thoughts, if that upsets you then I'm not really sure what to say.

Read that out to yourself, with all the aura reading in the game rn and the fact they use their power when they find someone, I can't control the other 7 people. It's like beating a dead horse, y'all ignore every single little point and say it's moot.
This isn't a discussion anymore, it's just legion players coming in and trying to defend their boring gameplay. If you make a post asking for people's thoughts on Legion and get upset when people have differing thoughts to your own, then why make the thread in the first place?

Not if they are the one running shadow, the first hit doesn't matter lol, they gain their TR back as soon as they get the first hit so I dont understand why people say this?
Then the point is moot either way. Decent Legion players will wait until they find a Survivor to start their Frenzy so at that point you're being found by a regular M1 killer, not by Feral Frenzy.

"Run early" the majority of them run shadow class
Undetectable actively screws over Legion.
If they're undetectable, they won't see you on Killer Instinct. If they're not, you can hear them and run early.

Legion actually probably made the killer queues worse because everyone wants to play him and no one wants to play against him lol
No, I just got off the phone with John BHVR. This is the first gamemode to get a legillion players.
In fact, they're doing 4v8 next time. It's only Legion, but all 4 of them.

They should just killswitch Legion. Coming from someone not abusing Legion in this mode but still waiting 20 minutes for a lobby.
Lobbies were 30+ minutes last time.
This means Legion shaved 10 minutes off the queue times alone. No other potential reason behind that at all.

I mean, doesn't the 2 emote count as a slap?

You can't "simply" master something that's pure luck though.
It's a mindgame. There's a bit of luck involved but it's mostly prediction and watching how the Legion plays around pallets.
-
I occasionally use it in a single build:
Eyes of Belmont/Treacherous Crows/Calm Spirit/One-other-perk-that's-good-when-injured (like Resi or OTR etc)
It actually makes the perk pretty decent, since you don't disturb crows, you'll always get wallhacks on the killer. Actually kind of fun.
Granted, it's an objectively bad perk that requires a full build to even remotely make work but I'm one of those players that really thrives on trying to make terrible perks work, I love doing that.

You say that as if its 100% chance to stun, in reality that results in a wasted pallet most of the time.
You simply need to master the art of Legion Chicken.
That or force a hit AND a stun at the same time so they can't continue the chain, you'll always be safe since you can't run Enduring in this mode.

No. A lot of aura perks thrive on the element of surprise. There should be no basekit universal reveal mechanic for aura reading.

I've been making them do leg day every day for the past 3 months, let them have this.
-
I don't think DBD's specific mechanics would translate well to VR, but I'd love to see an asym slasher horror VR game made at some point.
It'd have to lend more to stealth, since movement is kind of tricky to do well in VR.
-
Eh, it makes sense considering that Killer Instinct provides incredibly good information. It's already very difficult to hide from a Frenzying Legion, and the best window to do so is before they've hit anyone. Adding Scratch Mark visibility to their power would make this even harder.
Legion is already very easy to pick up, and I don't think they should be made easier, but there's the argument to be made that adding back Blood Pools during Frenzy would be helpful at tracking Survivors you've already hit, which doesn't really make it harder to evade Frenzy itself. I'd say Blood Pools, yes, Scratch Marks, maybe not.
Either way, it's an incredibly minor buff, and I don't think it's worth putting too much focus on. There's a lot more pressing things that make Legion bad, mainly that their basekit is still very subpar. Frenzy could probably do with a duration buff for sure.

You both underestimate the power of a dollar that was torn slightly, soaked in the lagoon, and kissed with coral blue #2 semigloss lipstick. The only thing holding the idea back is that legendary cosmetics would need to be created for the new original characters. BHVR invested time, effort, and money into making those cosmetics — and it costs BHVR money because it takes storage space. It makes no sense to me why players should feel entitled to have limited time cosmetics for years and years and years and years. Anyone who rightfully earned them probably feels scared to use them out of fear of being falsely accused of cheating.
I don't think it even makes sense, like, logically to rerelease them for money.
Legacy is one pattern applied to each character at the time, I doubt it took too much effort to make. I don't think you understand how storage space works either, Legacy is probably only a few megabytes at most across all characters.
The only real value Legacy has is the exclusivity. It's actually kind of ugly overall imo, especially after all the changes made to the pattern itself. If you rerelease it for money, then it loses its main draw. It'd become just another default reskin. If you rerelease it as a P100 reward, BHVR make no money either, and it'd just upset a bunch of veteran players anyway.
The reputation hit wouldn't be worth it, especially considering that the only thing giving Legacy any sort of status is the fact that it's, well, legacy.
-
They are never going to rerelease Legacy.
-
I just wiggle up and down in the general direction of the generator and hope for the best honestly.

There are still plenty of Survivor addons that have extremely significant effects. Brand New Parts, Styptic Agents and Syringes are the big three, and are still all extremely good even after their nerfs (syringes didn't even get nerfed either).
Outside of these big ones, there are still addons that give significant stat bonuses that make items way better. Blood Amber, Flashlight Batteries and Sapphire Lenses, Surgical Sutures, Wire Spool. All very good addons that make their respective items leagues better.
-
I honestly am not too bothered about this change. In fact I'm for it overall.
The fact that queue times were so staggeringly long that they had a knock on effect to other modes completely sucked the fun out of 2v8 for me. Something absolutely had to be done.

Killers are not responsible for survivor player's fun.
Do survivor players ever think:
- I won't predrop pallets this game
- I won't run to main building this game
- I won't abuse the near infinite in Garden of Joy
- I won't abuse bugged flashbangs this game
- I won't try to flashlight save
- I won't sabo hooks this game
- I won't bring a cracked toolbox with BNP this game
- I won't bring insta-heals this game
All in the name of "its not fun for the killer"? No, they don't, and I don't think they should either. But the point is that expecting killer players to care, when survivor players don't care either is ridiculous.
I mean I'm sure some of them do.
I have enough Syringes/BNPs on Sable to run them literally every game for months to come but I generally don't because they can be a little cheesy. Most games I just bring a regular medkit.
Same way I generally avoid stacking 4 slowdowns on the killer side. Treating either side as a universal hivemind doesn't really work at all.

So they are fixing this with 8.5.1, however, the result of this change means that you have 0.3 seconds to pick up the survivor after downing them.
In my opinion this is unreasonably unforgiving and i think the linger duration should be increased to 4 or 5.Yeah literally just heal tech for 0.3s and you're out.

Why? They could use the exact same clothing on the zombies (maybe an extra dynamic texture on top of them in any case) and simply change the animation and texture of the survivor.
The only reason it probably won't work is lore and gameplay reasons, as if they turn into zombies, then they are not getting sacrificed to the Entity, and just imagine the end game with 5 zombies roaming around
and getting stuck on the map.It is a cool idea, though.
The zombies and survivors use different rigs. They'd have to manually port every cosmetic over, it's not just a drag and drop thing.
-
They always say "see you in the fog", but I think "see you in the light mist" would be more accurate on a lot of maps.

@DancewithmeKate said:
Nope, it's no longer impresive. Old DbD favored survivors too much and getting 4 kills was indeed super skilled. But today? Nah, it's pretty much most of DbD matches.
Generally only 30-40% of matches end in a 4k. Saying it's "pretty much most" is inaccurate.
-
That's all WGLF did back in the day, and people ran that pretty often:
-
I honestly think the issue with Invocations is that the numbers aren't worth the effect.
Weaving Spiders is pretty close, and it might benefit from a small numbers buff, but the REAL issue is that it isn't always consistent, since the developers have decided it would not apply to blocked generators. This needs to be fixed.
Treacherous Crows on the other hand could do with the Terror Radius requirement being dropped, and the numbers upped to 3 seconds.

I personally don’t think a constant recovery speed boost would be bad. Unbreakable does this right now, and slugging is such a crap shoot anyway. You either get slugged for almost 2 minutes, or 10 seconds. You never know. So I don’t think getting up faster sometimes would be broken.
It would also check killers that slug all the time which is a super boring playstyle with limited survivor counterplay. Killers need the fear in their hearts that you might get off the floor/get picked up by a teammate like they already fear anti-tunnel perks which counters that boring playstyle.
So many games recently, killers are running Knock Out, and streamers are telling killer players slugging is the best playstyle right now, along with tunneling 1 person out immediately for a 3v1. Players are very easily influenced, forming extremely boring metas.
You kind of have to be careful with recovery speed in general because getting Survivors up too fast without any input is kind of busted.
That, and it enables Power Struggle shenanigans as well. Flip Flop, UB and Power Struggle already lets you have it up super fast, adding more consistently into the mix just buffs that.
-
I agree, honestly. The Cursed effect basicaly never gets any use due to how slow default recovery is.
I'm not sure about a constant recovery speed boost, but having a significant boost while Cursed would make the perk shine a bit more.
-
I'm not gonna lie I'm running Lightborn in most of my games now. It's a breath of fresh air.

It's pretty easy to delete his power with all of the clocks everywhere.

at that point why not just run quick and quiet?
Cut Loose allows you to chain quiet vaults, and has the mindgame of not being Quick and Quiet. If they hear a loud vault first, they won't expect another silent vault.
-
I don't want it reworked, I just want the cooldown shortened and the chase requirement dropped.
It's a really fun perk, it just has too many stipulations attached to be useful.
-
I think both Unrelenting and Mad Grit should work when hitting any object.
Unless they never patched that ancient bug from DBD Alpha where you could double tap people with Unrelenting, I don't see why it would be an issue.

So dead by daylight is competitive game now? Are you sure. Is it marketed as competitive game? I dunno I personally don't think it should be competitive but the toxic survivor freind squads and toxic killers made it so. Now everyone has to play like a goddamn sweat every game and the killer must tunnel the entire game cause otherwise they lose. I dunno I don't like this crap and I don't even know games that have dc penalties to begin with? It seems to me this whole system is dumb no matter how much hate I get for it I will continue thinking it is dumb to have dc penalties especially for a game that you paid.
There's a bigger conversation to be had around that question, which probably should be on a different thread.
However, it is competitive in nature, as in it pits players against each other, and has things like SBMM to ensure some type of match fairness.
The devs kind of have a foot in both camps (casual v competitive) as to what they want this game to be, but you could 100% call this game competitive, but not eSports level ready or anything.
Either way, the conversation is kind of irrelevant to this thread, as the DC penalty isn't going anywhere.
-
A lot of games have DC penalties to ensure there's no early leavers. That's just standard on a lot of competitive games these days, as an early leaver can ruin the match pretty quickly.
It sounds like you're in a pretty rough situation, but at some point you have to take care of yourself. I have AuDHD too, and I've had to put down the game for a while at some points because it wasn't really bringing me any joy anymore, it was just causing frustration and boredom. I've gone on months long breaks and picked up the game afterwards, and I found a renewed sense of fun when I came back.
I know it can be frustrating to have to put down something you really enjoy, this game has been my special interest for years at this point, and I've been pretty sad when I've had to step away every time, but every time it was for the best.
If the game is giving you more trouble than fun, you do not have to play it, and I would advise you go on a break. DBD isn't going anywhere anytime soon and you'll be able to pick it back up whenever you want.
The DC penalty will not be removed (the devs have made that very clear), and if being unable to disconnect in these kinds of matches is giving you this much grief, it's time to step away for a bit.
-
Infection is kind of a non-issue after the nerfs. It will likely never fully complete unless the Survivor deliberately neglects it.
He has his dash and he has a bit of slowdown from having to remove the Infection, but it is very rare to get any sort of value out of the Critical Infection these days, and when you do, it's because the Survivor missed the incredibly generous window to remove it.
In terms of whether he needs it, I think from an identity standpoint it'd be weird for a Resident Evil character to not have an Infection mechanic.
His 40m TR, while enabling Coulrophobia shenanigans, is probably necessary due to how high his burst mobility is. You can see how it would be if you take into account pre-nerf current Billy when he was still way faster in Overdrive. He'd pop out of nowhere and you'd have basically no time to react to the TR due to how fast he was, especially with engravings.
Wesker overall is completely fine imo.
-
I eated it. Sorry y'all.

@AbsolutGrndZer0 said:
Its not a new effect, they just made it only work once (not sure if it's once per chase or game) and for a limited time. It's a MAJOR nerf.
Unless you were in Bloodlust 3 for over 20 seconds at a time then it's just a net buff.

The argument that I am making here is that cheating in DBD warrants action now that there is an established market with affiliate codes. I agree with you and believe the Ouroboros is a continual problem and waters down efficacy. I still believe there is value in reverse engineering their software to aid detections. There has to be something they can find to identify players with it.
If a large group of users are banned, most would be dissuaded from purchasing another account. They recently banned a big creator in the DBD cheating community and the only reason I know is because the cheater I watched the other is was still upset and acting out over the loss of his friend days later. There is direct evidence that taking action has real effect. When the big creators get hit, it sends a message that no one is safe.
If they take the most recent version of the cheating software currently in use and use it to identify a large enough group of people—then it only needs to be done once anyway. While it is true that some will choose to purchase new accounts, others may feel burned and wary. The only way BHVR can increase the risk of buying a cheat account is to make it risky to own it — which means targeting people that specifically use those apps. Eventually it might trigger a change in behavior.
I can guarantee you that's what they're trying to do.
You can't catch everyone, and cheating programs are being continually updated. Some people just love to cheat.

Dpi enhancing is in fact cheating. Its not a vanilla dbd setting and requires a specific device to perform.
You heard it here folks, having a sensitive mouse is cheating now.

You're really telling me that DBD has the Easy anti-cheat program, and that program can't search for known malicious file hashes?
I know that file hashes are very flimsy because one change to a program changes the entire hash — but it's still a detection method.
If you are correct, it really says something when the crappy tools I have at my normal job do way more than what DBD can do.
Cheat developers are obviously going to be aware of these incredibly basic detection methods and implement countermeasures against them.
-
It would be nice, but the addons are honestly not really refined. There's no purples, and some of the effects just don't make sense, like extra detonation delay. I'd like to see firecrackers as a base item with it's own set of addons, but just adding the unused ones as-is would probably be a little uninspired.
Side note: You seem to be using the old fandom wiki, which isn't being actively updated anymore. It's moved over to wiki.gg:
