People say their not having fun because of poorly implemented balance and the immediate response is to alienate them rather than listen because they are the future of the game. Remembering of cause that without them there is no game. Right.

@Bossgirl774 Rather than wait for fairly balanced and consistent game play which will never happen because /Killer hand-holding meta. Just play Killer and your gaming life will be immediately less stressful! =D

I recommend Myres. Easiest killer in game till you get the hang of Nurse blink muscle memory, at which point she becomes the easiest killer in game.

Freddy is not a good choice unless you want to troll, and / or challenge yourself. Best to play Survivor in that case.

You have no clue of the meta of the game right now. Killers have been shat on in regards to the meta. The devs couldn't be any further from holding the hands of killers. If anything they are just forcing people who play killer out of the game.

  • Nurse is extremely difficult to learn and require a high amount of precision control. PS4 players are extremely limited by their use of controllers as they can't get the same amount of precision and accuracy that pc players get with mouse and keyboard.

@ReikoMori Maybe you do.. but if there is 3 left and I just hooked one.. I want the other 2 to come back in and make a save.... might be able to get all of them then.

They got 2 minutes or more to leave... I personally don't mind if they stick around a bit longer to make the end more exciting.. especially if I didn't get much done during the match.

Then nothing has really changed about the end game because survivors don't feel anymore pressured to do one thing or the other which at this point I don't care because I'm just a function. The only thing i want is for scratch marks to not completely blend in with EGC ground fx. Playing it on ptb is terrible because any sort of chase is rendered moot if you drop LOS for a split second in the endgame. Simply change the color of scratch marks of the egc fx color.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Honestly I got this feel from the switch trailer form the game which was basically:

"Oh yeah you can stealth your way, scavenge for resources in order to survive in a horror game as an awesome Survivor! (or be a Killer I guess...)"

That stuff right there is what urks me. Killers aren't having fun and seemingly aren't meant to be the ones having fun. It often feels we are being treated as functions and not the OTHER HALF OF THE PLAYERBASE FOR A MULTIPLAYER GAME. We still gotta put in money, but get back less enjoyment for doing more than survivors.

  • @TheBean said:

No scratch marks give the survivors and advantage in the end game with chases. I think it should stay that way. Otherwise survivors will just bail out as fast as they can.

At least if they know they can do some running around without the killer being able to track them 100% they might take more risks.

They are supposed bail as fast as they can and the scratch marks are already garbage anyway. EGC fx shouldn't be allowed to make them worse.

Streamers accuse people of sniping all the time to avoid looking bad, most of them are pretty crummy players. So it's a quick excuse.

You cannot be banned for stream sniping if you do, that has been stated by the DEVs. I don't know how stream sniping would help anyways, unless they are standing in one spot forever, since delay exists. Aura reading perks are 100x more reliable.

Through stream snipers you can get relative location, perks, addon, and hex totem placement info as these are all clearly displayed even on a delay. Even the delay on a stream can't prevent someone from siphoning that information. Also stream snipers are not pure 4man cells. They are often 5man cells with one person watching the stream and relaying information back to those playing the game through comms. A ton of players use it as an excuse, but the problem is still quite real.

At the end of the day it is another way for people to grief other people in games. It also cuts both ways. Killers can stream snipe SWF streamers, but that seems to happen less that SWFs who snipe killers.

  • I do whatever I have to do to win. I don't enjoy having any self imposed handicaps at the behest of my opponents.

  • The video clearly shows what happens when dead hard interacts with a killer whose in motion. They get their trajectory altered and in this situation Claudette's got invulnerability frames from DH so Dwight takes the hit for her. Think of it as a forced body block scenario. Also looking at how the Billy was coming in either of them could have easily been hit by the saw, but since dette made herself safe Dwight had to take the hit as he had no time to move.

  • @KimJonen said:

They are not thinking anything of the sort. Sorry to inform you of this.

  • @Judith said:

I get it when popular streamers complain but why do people no one knows about complain about being streamsnipped? They strike me as narcissists with delusions of grandeur.

As a general rule of thumb it is treated as a bannable offense in other competitive games if you can verify that you have been stream sniped. Stream sniping gives people an extreme unfair advantage and even with delayed streaming enabled it still gives the snipers information they shouldn't have before a certain point. There is never a good reason to stream snipe. People are generally sweatier towards streamers when they know they are in their game. Myself Included. That is fine. DBD also has dedicated known streamers who team up to snipe other bigger streamers. Since they've been given the green light by the Devs taking a hands off policy with it they're a constant issue for big name high rank players.

There seems to be a misunderstanding here, by no means is a Killer not supposed to kill. The key is that you need to make sure that both sides always have a chance to win, even if that chance is very slim. To use the pig, as an example, if you got chased for a minute after the End Game started and then trapped, you simple would not have a chance to remove your trap escape by the time you get saved (especially now that the End Game timer is two minutes). You would have to win the lottery and remove your trap on the first box.

If you create a situation where someone has no chance to win, it feels like a waste of time. If you know you're going to die and there's nothing you can do about it, it's going to feel awful. You'll just want to get it over with as fast as possible. The same would go for the Killer side as well. If you were in a scenario where you could not possibly win, you would have a miserable time.

It's a tricky to strike a balance in an asymmetrical game, but it's important to make sure that everyone in the match has a chance up until they win or lose, whether losing is dying or getting sacrificed, or if losing is all the survivors getting out the gates.

A lot of killers aren't have fun in the current game. The stress levels are higher than ever with the exception of maybe back in the Dark Times when games were actually unwinnable by killers. Killers aren't asking for easy 4ks every game, but the people playing that role are largely feeling less and less powerful. Killers have the more dynamic part of the game and get the sense, whether imagined or real, that they are steadily losing more control of situations at all levels of play.

Killers express their frustration with the speed of the game everyday and they get back radio silence. They express their frustration with infinite loops still being in the game. Again, silence. Personally I've expressed an issue with the Lampkin Lane map and Balanced landing making for loops where killers can not gain ground no matter how long the chase lasts. I wasn't anywhere near the first one say anything about it and after all this time silence. It's frustrating as hell and it gets compounded by the fact that the survivor side gets more things that work in their favor than against or at the very least neutral.

It has just started to FEEL as if there is a lot of neglect towards the killer side of the game. We have to have time and chances just as much as survivors do, but we don't get to play from position of strength. We HAVE to have Hex Ruin in our loadout if we don't play one of two killers. If you don't the game can end in less time than it took to get into the game. That isn't fun and it has never been fun. We do more work in the game for less benefit of enjoyment. Survivors have very diverse and well stocked set of tools that provide them with not on multiple chances, but in some cases outright dominance. I have no idea how much louder anyone can say it: Killers want to be able to have the same attention put into making the game fun to actually play again.

  • The dedicated server test has lots of bugs and amazing glitches. Huntress is the best killer in the game on ptb. She one shots entire teams with a single hatchet if you get them in a line. I've managed to wound two people with one hatchet. Get a person directly in the head they just go straight to dying state. I wouldn't worry about it though. Once the actual roll out happens they will sort stuff out.

  • I've ground games to a halt by letting them 3 gen themselves and then just patrolling the gens and refusing bad loops. Survivors will get really frustrated by that if you deny them gens and chase. The worst part is they can still easily do the gens if they would not focus one gen so hard.

  • Been playing mostly Clown the past few days. I only use Dwight as survivor but I have leveled most survivors to level 30 or higher.

  • Hmm.. That is something to think about. Other games tend to have an endgame 'funnel' to really sell the intense nature for the need to escape. Maybe a mode for it would suit the tastes of DBD's playerbase rather than just an outright game change. I think this game is too volatile to only have a single gate. Then you have to think about a lot of things that could get affected by only having a single gate. Some killers would be absolutely nightmarish to deal with when escaping.

  • Turn off hook immunity and I'm happy to be smaller. The large hitboxes on killers makes you get stuck on silly crap or fat shamed anyway.

  • @Judith said:

So people like less variety according to you. Maybe you are right since most people just want to win. Even if games get repetitive as long as they win they get their daily dopamine fix. I bet most people don't like challenge either.

It's not that players of this game don't like challenge its just that the game itself doesn't provide a good distribution of challenge.

Challenging games for killers come from survivors being generally good at the game. The point this breaks down is that when survivors are really good most killers even played optimally struggle against the limitations of the game. When good survivors are also really toxic individuals the challenge becomes uninviting because bad behavior is rarely taken very well.

Challenging games for survivors are extremely dependent on a killer being good, but since survivors have very few things to get good at doing they can outpace killers in overall game mastery. Where this breaks down is that survivors who are really good have already surpassed the amount of challenge the game bring to them. Survivors who aren't good can feel trapped and bad behavior issues on the killer side matter as well. Survivors also lack variety as they are at there core the exact same. This caps what challenge can exist for them.

Stats wise really good survivors will almost always outperform a really good killer player as to make up for being generic mechanically survivors have far more things at their disposal to improve their chances. Not all killers have addons that enhance their power to a place where they need to be truly respected.

The most challenging thing to do in the game is learn how to play Nurse and the second most challenging this to do is learn how to loop properly and consistently.

  • The power's a dud and I'd rather just be a killer who applies status effects with frenzy attacks rather than a killer who applies deep wounds and then looks at the pin addons and sees that they are a waste of time.

  • @Matsuri said:

This is definitely needed, the pip penalty isn't enough to stop them from doing it. A lot of people get salty when you loop them so they just face camp you :T

It's something they have said time and time again that players can do it. Do what every other survivor tells killers to do and "Adapt".

  • @Matsuri said:

Survivors abused the crap out of it? Ight lets not talk about noed, tunneling, face camping, or broken hit boxes. But yea, using a 1 time ability is "abuse".

Noed is aq destroyable perk that had had way more taken out of that DS, but lets set that aside cause forget beating that dead horse. DS was extremely meta and extremely powerful even with the use of Enduring. Now you have a perk that is balanced in the best way it could be while still being what it is. You even got it so that Enduring doesn't counter it. The only real change is that instead of punishing a killer for just playing the game and doing what they are supposed to now it punishes the killer for being overly obsessed with going after a survivor's who fresh off the hook.

You know, that thing you complain about everyday.

@DBD_Pinhead You actually don't want survivors to split. Up as that let's them do 3 gens while you chase 1 person.

They already do that now and the game codes for partial separation of survivors in spawn anyway.

  • @Slayer said:

I'm so sick of these post complaining about the new Legion. He is WAY more balanced than he was before. Dude Legion still gets a free frenzy hit, not to mention he has add-ons that now can give a survivor:

    1.) the "broken" status

2.) far longer lasting frenzy, lets you cover more ground

    3.) 4.6 m/s

4.) can STILL vault pallets (no counter, gets conveniently ignored)

and so many more things we can list. It does suck in my opinion that his terror radius was changed, but at least he can no longer moonwalk survivors with the new mending mechanic.

Please go watch this unbiased video by HybridPanda

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufS9jrqNrF0

I like Hybrid Panda and gave him the benefit of doubt to watch the video. First thing he says is he doesn't really like Legion or play Legion. On one hand that is good because it means he's got sort of fresh eyes for this. On the other hand its bad because he's also got none of the experience with previous Legion to really understand what is and isn't hurting with these upcoming changes.

The games he gets into aren't really that good either. The survivors for the most part aren't particularly good with the second game where he 4k's having one person go afk another person choosing to die to EGC and the two that were actually somewhat playing being also really bad. The first game he got one actual kill and then the other person that died chose to die to EGC when they could have escaped and the other two hatch'd right in front of him. So from the games he put up for people to see he didn't really do that well.

He talks about the issues bothering him that people have already expressed.

    1. Power recharge is long.
    2. Missed hit penalty is a bit steep
    3. Basic hits draining power
    4. Deep Wounds not really being an issue outside of a 10sec mend.
    5. Stun is really harsh.

There are other issues that Legion's got that he doesn't have to deal with as the survivors weren't good enough to actually cause them to happen. From this video what you can take away from it is that from the perspective of a person who openly admits that didn't play Legion as they didn't ever really mesh with the killer's play style and never really played them past initial release is that now that they've sat down and played Legion on ptb now they enjoy what he's doing now. Which is what he's always been capable of doing and Legion players who weren't playing like potatoes have been doing the entire time. The only difference is Legion doesn't have reliable pressure with Deep Wounds as it poses no threat to your life. If you run Iri Button it especially stops posing any threats.

  • WGLF is itself a dead perk slot. The idea of it being dead is that it does nothing in game to help you.

WGLF is just meant to give you a bonus for being the person doing the unhooks and bodyblocking. It is made so that the higher risk play style that saw for David King was rewarded in turn with extra bp. The only thing they did was give people what they asked for. They took nothing away and gave nothing extra.

It was getting called We're Gonna Farm Forever for a reason. People wanted players who were running this to have to actually use their brain when going for the unhook. Instead of just pulling someone down off the hook only to get them downed and rehooked for points. Why should you get anything punitive towards the killer who has nothing to do with that perk interaction?

  • It's a dead by daylight centric issue. Players are purposely dcing at a high rate and the game is also forcibly dcing players at a high rate. So right now you've got to deal with dcs as best you can. Sucks though as dcs cripple scoring across the entire game for both killer and survivor.

  • 3 minutes for endgame was good to go and rescue someone and try to escape, now there is literally no point with only 2m to try something, just leave at this point, congratulations killers main always crying.

The egc is only 2mins if no one is injured, dying, or hooked. It still slows down which gives you up to an extra 2mins to make any save. Not to mention, Remember Me, since you brought it up got nerfed. It gets only 4 stacks and lost 1second per stack so at max rank its just an extra 16 seconds. That puts door opening speed to just a little over normal door opening speed in the current live patch.

You've lost a single base minute that by the very nature of how the game works you will get back and if you really have an issue you just not open the door and keep the killer distracted while your teammates make the unhook. Just 99% the doors and the rush the hook. Unless the killer has noed and even if he does he can't take everyone down at once.

  • Please behaviour, i hope you guys are changing the net code and how your game works in regards to connection because i've already played on Kill Your Friends lobbies where the survivors were hosting while i was the killer and man...

Pig shouldn't not be able to see whether or not her traps are ticking, she just shouldn't be nerfed like this in the first place.

That makes no sense. Not thematically or mechanically.

People seem to think that not seeing these things makes tunneling less likely when it is the exact opposite. No one likes to guess especially when you can't waste much time. So when you have less information about your own power what do you think people resort to doing? They tunnel you down because that way they know exactly what is happening with you. Killers need certain amounts of key information to actually play in strategic ways, but people keep wanting killers to have less information. Then they complain when they just get tunneled because it is the only sure way to have any sense of whats what.

If everything reads the same info wise you're just going to get treated as if one is as good as another. That means even if a better more strategic target is available if you happen to be the one there and your timer looks as dead the next timer you're getting attacked no matter if you kobe'd got unhooked or ran a marathon with jukes for days.

Speaking to the theme of Saw, Every Jigsaw Killer knew EXACTLY what was happening to everyone in their "Games". Everything was meticulously planned down to literal seconds and they knew exactly how much time someone had left and where they were. It was a very methodical process. The only difference for Amanda is she cheats people out of a fair shot to survive. So why would she not know the time?

  • That would mean I could sneak up on people. 32m TR that can't be hidden kinda screams Trapper to me.

  • It can be a viable strategy, but the use cases are specific. It is frowned upon as it feeds into low skill or bad gameplay experience. Though some situations require a certain amount of hard or soft camping. Endgame is the most noticeable along with hook rushes. You have to gauge when to just let the hook go though. Stay too long and lose pressure everywhere else and cripple your chaser emblem. Which is a big deal if you're concerned about ranking up. Sometimes its best to proxy at a distance to maintain a soft camping scenario. You can get to the hook quick if need be, but you've given enough breathing room for the gameplay to happen.

Things break down though when you get into the scenario of what happens after someone's been unhooked. Efficiency says go for who ever is easiest/weaker to take down. "Fair" play says you always choose someone other than the person who got unhooked/kobe'd.

Someone is playing solo besides me? That's new, I've never met any good solo survivor. Only SWF,SWF,SWF as the killer yikes. And as the survivor I always have a potato players.

I too play solo when I play survivor. Killers complain about SWF because the game is exponentially harder when dealing with that level of coordination. The game wasn't designed with it in mind. The game launched without it and didn't have it for quite a while. When they added the game never really felt like it got a second pass to account for the extra things that SWF brought to the table. Killers don't have a problem with solo survivors because the game functions correctly when you get a game of all solo survivors.

As for individual skill that varies wildly from player to player and some players are actually quite skilled, but not in a way that others approve of. If you want to be consider universally 'good' people want you to be able to hold the killer in chase for long periods of time. Yet, in reality their are a lot of players who learned the stealth aspect of the game much better than the chase. You have lots of players like me who are good at gens and coop actions. Its the only thing I enjoy doing as it took forever to learn how to run the killer somewhat decently. I don't enjoy spending minutes in a chase and would rather pound objectives. Though now you need to be good at everything as that is the only way you're gonna pip.

  • Just play Legion like Trapper with a map crossing sprint.

  • With these current changes, it used to be if you get 4k you get merciless killer.

To get merciless killer you will need to protect as many gens as possible during the first 9mins of the game. This time is weighted heavier than any other time spent in the trial. You will also need to get 9+ hooks during the trial. That breaks down to 3 hooks per survivor for the first 3 survivors you kill and then you need to kill the 4th as well. You also need to have decently lengthy chases that result in you hitting and downing or them ultimately getting away and healing the damage. This will get you merciless, but it means you have to draw the game out and hope survivors play in a way that makes them save their teammates.

It used to be easier for everyone, but there were a lot of complaints of unskilled players getting to high ranks so now we have this which is not the best solution, but it helps to somewhat gatekeep players who can't or won't play to the scoring system's rules.

That was my reaction when I heard the changes in the first place. I'm glad people are finally seeing the Legion changes for what it is.

    Fixes to a ######### play-style.

I killed a lot of none ######### playstyles as well. Legion's not in a good place, he's just much better to play against. Playing Legion in ptb isn't very rewarding or diverse as he's still hampered by deep wounds dictating everything else about his addons and secondary power of Killer Instinct. He'd play better if he had no deep wounds at all and just stacked debuffs that could be altered with the new pins.

  • You've currently gotta meet the emblem scoring requirements. That means 9+ hooks and on a 4k with the majority of gens held for the first 9mins of the game as that is weighted heavier than the rest of the time you could spend in game. Also try your best to have somewhat lengthy chases that you ultimately win. Survivors are worth more to you alive than dead so they have to unhook each other and you sort of need to let them.

In short a lot of you score can be hindered if you're far better than the survivors or the survivors are in general no help to each other.

  • @BillyIII said:

    You guys just hate balance.

I don't hate balance in the least. If Legion was balanced I'd have nothing to say as I want him to be balanced. I wanted Legion to have counterplay and I agreed that running straight and scatter shouldn't be your only current options. Though after hours and hours on the ptb going through all the builds I had perks and addons for he just isn't there yet. Some good things came out of this. Being a 115ms killer just feels better once you get used to it. The buttons being debuffs is a nice idea, but with the way Deep Wounds is handled they don't work. You should not frenzy attack the same target twice as it actively wastes your time and burns out all your power.

The reality is that if you play Legion like Trapper you get roughly the same results. They've got all the pros and cons when you set aside powers. That is ok in a sense. When you start looking at Legion with the power included you've got more cons than pros. Every good thing is cancelled out evenly or just made worse. You get faster, but the speed is hardcapped and slower than before. You have longer duration though so they just even out. You still have deep wounds, but it doesn't count down in TR and can't be removed forcibly on top of not being able to see it tick down. Your TR is bigger though. These fix an exploitable scenario, but also completely takes most of the incentive out of using deep wounds. It has lost threat and pressure potential as mending is now just easier to do. Killer Instinct is now apparently working with its own range counter behind the scenes and can be affected by addons, but you could just as easily run TR enhancing perks and get better value. Also that is Legion's only tracking in frenzy which really drops his powered chase potential in places where you need to rely on visual information.

There is some good in this, but also a ton of bad.

  • Is there something about seeing the Blood Party Streamer offering that encourages some killers to tunnel?

You can blame it on player bias or the fact that the emblem score is more important than the BPS or you could blame it on the need to kill someone as fast as possible to slow down the game.

  • As someone whose been a Pig main since her release and pretty much put the most effort into perfecting the mechanics of this killer, I feel like these changes gimp the primary purpose of the Pig and ruins a lot of the immersion of the killers actual unique mechanic that derives from the movies in the first place.

Let's workshop something other than slowing down the endgame collapse time. It already slows down to an additional two minutes with regular injuries and downs.

  • @TheKillerNun said:

I don't care if you wanna use insidious by all means go ahead but to sit there and face camp people with it is a little out of hand. It's just an excuse for crappy killers

Insidious has no other uses. Its the only stealth perk available to killers and it requires them to stand still to use it. What you should be asking is why the devs don't give killers stealth perks that allows for movement while in stealth.

Also forgot to mention that insidous is one of the oldest perks in the game. It existed back where there was only 4-5 killers and no emblem scoring. So it has existed this entire time with no changes cause no one seriously uses it.

I don't mind being able to see the red stain through walls, because it's a good way to mind game as killer or as survivor, it gives you an idea of where the killer is while looping, so both sides can benefit from it.

Not really. This isn't like slatted walls in coldwind. This is turning game settings to low so you can seem through solid walls. Killers can't really mind game that. Also the stain isn't radial its only in front of the killer so you can tell which way the killer is facing from the stain. It don't take a genius to notice a red blotch moving backwards.

  • They all seem to be broken with the exception of discordance which seems like a change as the tooltip doesn't even talk about sounds anymore.

  • Why was there no mention in the PTB patch notes about the Dark Devotion bug where Nurse's blink strike would not transfer her TR?

Probably not a bug as they changed he blink strikes to code as basic attacks because they have to be able to trigger MoM.

I had this happen. Stabbed 3 people, not a single bar dropped as I chased.

You couldn't see it drop even if they weren't around. Killer doesn't get to see deep wound.
